A rather expensive one-trick pony, but boy oh boy what a trick! Yes it's mono, but it sounds fantastic and is really convincing in recreating the rotary speaker vibe including the 'movement' Plus it adds a really pleasing 'pre-amp' sound, touch & feel under the fingers to your tone – short of getting an actual rotary speaker set-up I don't think one can get closer. All contained in a standard sized 9V pedal board format that doesn't take up too much real estate on a crowded board – early days so can't comment on durability yet but seems robust enough, only time will tell. The Micro Vent takes the Ventilator magic and shoehorns it into a standard stompbox aimed at guitarists, so unlike the larger Ventilator models it's 9VDC and will fit onto any pedalboard. An edit mode uses the four knobs to access some useful hidden functions. It's mono in/out however there's some clever stuff going on that tricks your ears into thinking it's a real Leslie 122, I don't know how they do it but it lives up to all the hype and while it's expensive, the quality of the sound is more than worth it.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

I bought this initially to compliment the EHX C9 organ pedal. Yet, as a stand alone pedal for my guitar it does a number of things and could replace other pedals. With an expression pedal the Lester allows a user to produce tremelo, chorus as well as the the Leslie tones all with variable tempo, on the fly, as one plays. This pedal also has a built in compression which contributes to my already substantial sustain. As an added bonus the drive function supplies another overdrive voice that I think I prefer over all the other gain stages available on my pedal board and from my amp. The Lester G emulates the sound of a Lesley Speaker Cabinet and is designed specifically for guitarist, (there is also a Lesley K version which is available for keyboards) the guitarist pedal incorporates a dedicated compressor which maximises the rotary speaker effect. The pedal delivers the effect superbly and comes with controls which include fully adjustable tube-style overdrive, Fast and Slow modes and an Acceleration control to dial in the rate at which the effect transitions between the rotary speakers speeds. Leslie simulation is a tricky thing because there's no way a pedal can reproduce the sound of a speaker spinning in the room (4 dimensional sound) but it can reproduce the sound of a miked Leslie as you would hear on a record. So I won't speak to how close this comes to a real Leslie. This thing is fun to play through both for the rotary effect, especially when using 2 amps (and for God's sake use a pair of tube amps), and for the compression/drive effects that are built it. It inspires a different playing style than I normally use which is also fun and can lead to better recording etc. The only thing I found to be a little strange is the brake, which really isn't a brake at all but is more like turning off the motor drive and letting it spin down at the rate set by the acceleration knob. It's not a flaw just different and if you want more control you can use an expression pedal. Something else that would have been nice would have been stereo inputs, I run the second half of my pedalboard in stereo and already have an Electric Mistress as my one mono to stereo pedal.-jim

I have bought the original vent in two versions – then the mini vent which was great! But this one beats them all for my purposes- the fact that it’s so small and powered off 9v supply easy! Then the sound is actually less “hollow” or “canned” than the mini vent in a direct comparison-for guitar- perhaps because it’s a little simpler – no separate rotor sound ? But it still seems to have the Leslie “tripping over catching up” sound when you step from fast to slow – the blend control is perfect too. I got it to make a smaller board, but it’s replaced the mini vent quite happily and the fact that the second power supply is no longer needed makes it perfect!Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

I have been playing guitar 35 years or so. I've had the Boss Chorus Ensemble, Rotosphere, other imitations, and finally a full size vintage Leslie. The new Leslie pedal is the best next to the real cab. The overdrive is not as good as the Rotosphere, unless you run a drive/boost in front of it. The unit is stereo but the input requires an adapter if you want your signal to go to two amps when plugged in with mono 1/4 inch plug. If you don't do this you go back to mono (signal to only one amp) when you bypass the pedal. Hammond should have made it so you can have full spectrum over rotor speed. This can be achieved by plugging a expression or volume pedal into the jack for the remote organ switch. This will disengage the break, but you can really get better rotor speed control. Easy to set up and use, sturdy construction, minimal signal & tone loss. The pedal comes with a remote speed switch jack, however, an affordable switch is not listed or easy to obtain. (I play pedal steel, using an organ effect with the Leslie rotary effect, a remote hand operated speed control switch would be a plus as I am already very busy with foot pedals and knee levers).Half-Fast Steel Picker

I've been looking awhile for a Zoom G3x, with the The Shadows patches because they are very good. Its a well made metal bodied unit , pretty easy to use when you study the manual . It can connect to your laptop or PC using USB type B to Type A cable. which enables you to update the firmware, and play your backing tracks. If you download Edit and Share from Zoom ,this enables you to alter, swap and change patch positions. Very handy having a volume pedal, which can be set ,for various effects. I'm very pleased with the Zoom it was a good price ,and sounds fantastic. I recommend it.opaline_04

As a "weekend warrior" gigging musician, I needed a new pedal board to replace my old XTLive POD that finally died after 12 years (also a MF purchase!). Checking reviews, I felt pretty confident ordering it and this thing exceeds my expectations! The phrase "so easy a caveman can do it" comes to mind. I literally received it, set up a bank of effects and played a gig within two hours! My picky soundman even told me at the end of the night "don't ever get rid of that pedal-board, it's your new secret sauce". I had become spoiled over the past few months using my friend's Motion Sound 3D rotary horn amp with my over achieving Casino keyboard. When he needed it back I had to find a way to feed my Leslie addiction without having to lug equipment around on a dolly. I tried my Money Laundry pedal which is excellent for guitar but fought with the DSP effects from my Casino. I did find a back door way to disable the DSP effects eventually. But the real solution was the Lester K! To my unsophisticated ear it sounds as good as the Motion Sound and offers a better control interface. It doesn't conflict with the DSP effects although I think it is better without them in the path. I am using it through a simple Peavey keyboard amp and couldn't be happier with the results. I bought this solely with the intention of recreating the tone from Balck Hole Sun and several other rotary speaker tracks, but within the first hour I'd churned out so many riffs I didn't know what to do with them. This little(ish) pedal generates some amazing tones and provides hours of experimental fun…no, not THAT kind of experimental… I don't know what I'd do without it now.Scott L.

If you have ANY effects of any kind in front of the unit (including on board DSP/COSM effects), eliminate them immediately! Otherwise, you will get a much less satisfying experience with this unit.Eliminating the upfront effects gives you the ultimate pulsing whirly, swirly sound in STEREO. The drive and balance knobs do a great job, as do the slow and fast speed knobs working together with the brake switch.Just use a dry drawbar setup into the unit. Not sure you need any other effects post Lester K. Use 2 amps for stereo panning if you can. You will get excellent Leslie sound tailored to any style – only bounded by your drawbar settings skills.RJ

I have the original with the old paint design. I got it shortly after it was first introduced by BBE. They did an excellent job of creating an affordable, great-sounding vibe that never fails to bring a smile to my face. The internal trim-pot is a nice feature to have if you want to tweak the tone just a bit. Like a lot of players, I think it would be nice to be able to adjust this as a third knob on the outside. However, that's a minor quibble. If you grew up listening to the recordings of Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock and the Fillmore East as well as those first few Robin Trower albums, you have to check out the Soul Vibe.Phoenix Guitar Dude

This nice pedal out of the box at factory internal settings was too deep on the low end. If you read the pedal instructions, who does that but in passing I did, it informs that the tonal range can be easily changed from deep to crystal treble by rotating the internal pot, right for brighter, left for deeper bass. Remove the case screws to avail the potentiometer. Just a small turn edging right leveled out the pedal. Now it is a great pedalMikie

Helix is fantastic for all studio musicians. You can construct so many different sounds with it. Since 3.0, the Helix is a complete package as far as guitar processors go: you have all different amps, cabs, effects, acoustic sim, synths, polyphonic transposition, harmonization, oversampling. Lots of in/outs, lots of ways to route it. The workflow is great: you have the computer editor. You can back up/restore your Helix, email the backup to yourself, etc. The Helix can absolutely replace your entire signal chain and be used as the only piece of gear to process your guitar sounds. The same could not be said about the Helix when it was on earlier firmware versions. Now, the Helix itself is very cheaply made. I thought I'd purchase one and never need to use anything ever again– wrong! After about a year of light use, the buttons stopped working reliably, then an LED stopped working. Helix is assembled using cheap Chinese parts that are tiny! For example, the footswitches are not what they appear to be–there are tiny tactile microswitches underneath. The Helix will not withstand nonstop gigging for more than a year, unless it's regularly serviced/cleaned, etc. It's a real shame because it can sound great, but something is always failing, or about to fail.Dimitri

Overall: I just received the Helix Rack yesterday so I only have a few hours in the drivers seat but that's enough to learn how truly awesome this thing is. I've owned a lot of Line 6 products over the last 20 years, in fact I still have a spider V240 and a POD HD Pro X but the Helix is so far out of their league they will probably never get used again in my studio. The design is sleek, easy to navigate, user friendly and just all around beautifully designed. The large full color screen is not only eye catching but makes navigating the menus effortless. Even though I'm modeler savvy, I've had no previous experience with Impulse Responses, in fact, I hadn't even heard of them until I started researching the Helix Rack and quite honestly I didn't think that I would care to use them… Well… I was wrong. It's amazing what these things do for the quality and authenticity of my tones when recording. As I mentioned earlier I only have 2 days under my belt at this point but most of that has been recording scratch tracks just to hear the result of these I.R's. I also love the fact that Line 6 still adds all of the necessary physical knobs and controls to their equipment in the days of everything being digital. The idea that I can play almost uninterrupted while tweaking many different parameters on the unit itself without a pedal is always a selling point for me. Not taking anything away from the foot controller but when I'm seated in front of my rack, using my hands to adjust the unit itself is just somewhat more convenient at times. Next, the user space… I thought that my POD HD Pro X had a lot of space for user presets but It has nothing on the Helix. I will probably never fill all of the user List's or even come close to it but It's always better to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it. Also, let me jump back to the large screen again, I have a laptop on which I keep all of my editing software for my studio equipment. I always plug in my Spider V240 and POD and use the Spider V Remote and POD HD Pro X edit software respectfully because in most cases sitting behind my recording console and tweaking my sound is just much easier to do with the computer apps than the equipment. The Helix is the first and only piece of equipment I've owned where the display is laid out and organized in a way that is very similar to a computer or tablet app and so even though I have the Helix Edit app running on my computer right next to me, making adjustments on the front of the Helix Rack in many cases is actually easier and faster than grabbing a mouse and using the comp app. I could write much more describing my total satisfaction thus far but I will wait 'till I have used it for another month or so and update my review at that time. I will leave you with this thought. While conveying my total happiness to my brother last night regarding the Helix Rack, I went so far as to say that I feel that this could be the last guitar processer I ever buy and if not it's pretty close.Fred

Like the G1ON, the G1X 4 does a good job of imitating the touch and volume control dynamics of a cranked tube amp at any volume. I really like the Deluxe Reverb, AC30 and DC30 simulations. The G1ON has more vintage style amp types to choose from, and in that regard it is more useful to e. Two kinds of spring reverb, one eats up a lot of memory but really sounds lush like an external unit along with the other types (room, plate, hall, church, etc.). Tremolo is built into the Fender models that have tremolo along with a couple of very configurable trems and rotating speaker effects. The G1 4 does NOT have the Z Organ effect the G1ON does, boo hoo. Beyond that, there are tons of effects to play with and they all sound good to my ears. I currently have 3 small amp setups. 1. Quilter 101 mini docked in their 10" BlockDock cab. 2. Quilter MicroBlock 45 pedal teamed with a 5E3 pine cab with a Emi Legend 12" and 3. an old Carvin SX50 1×12". I can get all three do to do the Deluxe Reverb,Vox AC15/30, E and F series Tweed tones that don't make me miss my tube amps. Wish I would have had the G1ON and the 17.7lb Quilter 1×10" combo back when I was in a blues band and gigging. Interface improvements from the G1ON… Improved display allows for more descriptive/longer patch names. Four pots act as master vol, bass, middle, treble during performance mode for global tone and volume tweeking. The four pots also make adjusting settings easier. I've owned several other pedals in the past and some were better than others. This one is my latest addition. The manual is vague not enough detail, it took some guessing and experimenting to learn how this thing operates. Got past most of that. Individual FX are good but most are way over the top and need editing to be useful. I don't understand why they over do the FX, no need to get extreme with the factory sets. The Looper is nice but haven't figured out how I would use it yet (my first Multi-FX pedal with a built in Looper). No power adapter noise is nice a plus. No Bypass switch is a bummer if used in a pedal board with other FX, could make bypass patches but that kind of fails the idea of easy switching between other pedals. It needs a better clean sound with the Fender Twin Reverb model, Twins are known for their clean and this doesn't sound like a Twin at all. Need to fix that. Go listen to a Twin, I owned one for 30 years I know what they sound like. At this point I'm a little disappointed at Zoom, I don't think they thought this pedal through very well. It may be great for some people but it's kind of eh, for me. I may send it back.John

I bought this to use as a headphone amp. For practice, the drums section and looper included are useful. Was not so interested in the effects part, however the range of options for drive and reverb are well beyond what is available on any one amp. Am now thinking I could use this as a preamp for any powered speaker, and adjust to suit. Signal to noise ratio is excellent to my ear. Overall sound quality is excellent.Ts

Get this on sale, and there's nothing that can touch it. Even at full price, heck, you would pay that for one regular pedal alone. Brilliant sound quality, quiet as a mouse, 32 bit processing, 2 bit sampling, a gazillion great effects. Editing and using is pretty easy, you'll have it all down in 5 to 10 minutes if you simply read the instructions- and I barely had to, and still got it figured out. Built like a tank, up-gradable and expandable memory, patches, and effects. (Use the downloadable Guitar Lab software). 3 effects on/off switches at once, but easy enough to scroll and turn on/off any effect in a patch. I run mine off of batteries, a home made battery pack using either 9 volt or AA batteries- either works. A definite improvement over the G3. The only thing better would be a pedal with more physical switches- but then you're paying a lot more money, and bigger pedal, so I opted for less cash outlay, more compact pedal. Truly wonderful and 21st century on it's own, yet small enough to put on a pedal board. Do I sound like a commercial?? 🙂 I'm not, just a user. Best pedal bargain on the planet right now. It's a nice pedal as utility pedal for only needing the one effect. Enjoying the tremolo, reverb, flangers. You can set the effect to a preset (up to 24) and flip through them on the fly. Renaming the effect is a pain, having to use the dials! The distortion effects are weak but can be used with your dirty channel to be usable like using a fuzz otherwise it sounds thin and not usable. I'm not having any grounding issues and I have it powered through a pedal board brick. I have it running in front of an orange tube amps.BJ

About 100 pedals models for less than £100. Some in stereo and can be output in stereo or mono. Straight out of the box some models sound very good to me, I especially like the tremolos, some of the reverbs and delays. Also I quite like one of the chorus models (an effect that does not usually use) and one of the overdrives. Have to try tweaking the uni vibe and phasers but I'm sure there will be useable sounds in there My rating for sounds reflects my view that I find some bad and others excellent. It has plenty of features, is well made with a sturdy metal enclose, comes with its own power supply and is easy to use. All in all I think it is worth the price and worth considering if you want access a wide range of effects. Probably better for recording rather than using live.Reviewed by guitarguitar custome

This pedal is perfect for anyone who is running their complex delay/reverb/ambience stuff in an effects loop, but needs a 'swiss army knife' pedal for effects that need to go in front of the amp (distortion, wah, phaser, etc.). I was playing in the pit for our local HS musical last fall (they haven't had any electric guitarists…or bassists or drummers for that matter… in the student population for the last 7-8 years…I blame vocalist-centric reality TV shows….but I digress). The show was "Sister Act" and, unlike the R&B tinged '92 movie, the (2006) stage musical is all late 70's disco style. Needless to say, I needed a wah-wah pedal. Instead of shelling out the same amount for a decent 'one-trick-pony' wah pedal, I opted for this unit, as I have been looking for a multi-function 'in-front-of-the-amp' pedal for a while, and I already had an expression pedal for my keyboard. My expression pedal was the dirt cheap M-Audio plastic one that, according to Line6's own website, shouldn't work with this unit…except it did. Yes, even when toggling the "M-Audio/Other" switch on the underside of the pedal, at first It either didn't work at all, or worked backwards. But then, I discovered the genius programming built into this little gem. If you rock the EXP pedal either fullup or full down, you can manually set the heel/toe values for ANY of the 5 adjustable parameters in a given effect. SO…….In the tube/tape delay effect, for example, I have it set so the repeats, drive/gain, and "wow/flutter" all increase (each by individually set amounts) when I rock the EXP pedal from heel to toe. Add to that the fact that this is a dual stomp switch pedal with a dedicated tap-tempo switch, and you have an ultra-controlable delay unit. My only niggle is in the auto-wah/'tron' department. While they have a few dynamics-based filter effects models, only one is a dedicated Mu-Tron/envelope-filter type effect. What's more, since they only have the one model, and only 5 adjustable parameters, they decided to allot some of those 5 precious parameter knobs to things like "high-/low-/band-pass filter" and left out the crucial "sensitivity" setting. My rig is old-school; vintage non-master-volume amp + tube screamer + THD Hotplate. All my gain/distortion is controlled via my guitar's volume knob. The problem is, with no 'sensitivity' setting on the 'Tron' effect model, you only get decent results if your guitar volume is full up on or near 10. Unfortunately, most of the situations where you want to use this type of effect are with a relatively clean tone. But, since I can only get said cleaner tone by rolling back my guitar's volume, I don't have enough signal to trigger the wah effect. Instead of including some of the 'cool-but-of-limited-usefulness' models like "Comet Trails" in this section of the pedal, I wish Line6 would have had multiple 'Tron' models (high-/low-/band-pass) with sensitivity parameter adjustments all 'round. Full disclosure; what with my fore mentioned rig, I have not at all explored the distortion section of this pedal, and thus cannot comment on it's quality or lack thereof. I have at least dabbled in the modulation section, and done extensive exploration in the filter, delay, and Reverb sections, and found them all adequate to superior in tone and 'controlability' (OK, maybe not a real word…yet). And, c'mon, for $130? You really can't beat this!mikeoxmal

Look, if you REALLY have to have a Martin D-45 sound, guess what Of course this pedal will never do that. BUT, if you need something that sounds somewhat acoustic-like in a band mix and don't want to carry an extra (not to mention fragile) instrument, then this will work just fine. Not authentic, not great, not amazingly life-like, just FINE. With realistic expectations this pedal is as good as any for what it intends to do. I use this in an A/B/Y rig. Tha A side goes to my regular pedalboard and amps. The B side goes to this pedal and a volume pedal direct to FOH via a direct box. I get the "acoustic" sound fed back to me through my monitor (or ears if that applies occasionally). I can have straight electric, straight "acoustic", or use the Y option to blend the two to my liking. Works for me, YMMV. I play "for-hire" mostly and my clients love the versatility of my setup. Also, DO NOT run this pedal through a tube amp if you want the best results. It will definitely work best either run straight to FOH or through a clean solid-state amp. Have read many reviews both positive and negative about this pedal. The negatives were not specific but didn't hear their guitar and amp give an acoustic sound with this pedal. The positives were sometimes vague but they liked it. Then some went on to say they liked it not through a tube amp but through an acoustic amp or a PA system. I HOOKED IT up through a very small practice amp set clean and used the emulation out into a mixer then into a low power full range PA type system. Sounded excellent with neck single coil. Didn't try it with the middle single coil nor the bridge humbucker. I am very happy to have this pedal.Kenmorek

High quality of fender uniqueness: perfect in appearance and sound This can be used in a great variety of ways. I am especially happy with the onboard overdrive. If you want a rotary sound with a fixed number of rotations, dynamic switch off. If you want to change the speed by picking strength, dynamic switch on. And if you want to fine-tune the speed, regardless of the strength of picking, use expression pedal and it's perfect. This is sitting in the middle of my pedalboard.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Overall: I agree with the last review, this pedal definitely stands on its own and keeps up with the other Big blue Box! It's algorithms are top notch, with a lot of them only found on this pedal. As soon as I heard the first preset I was hooked. Lush reverbs and shimmering tones makes this one of the most fun reverb pedals I have played. I love that you also get a plug in version fro amplitude and can save presets on you computer and download them to your pedal. also, did I mention its a USB interface as well that you can use with any DAW?Mark P.

To use a fine old term 'bang for the buck' this is definitely it. If one understands how these work this one delivers the goods. I am easily able to get the full envelope range using a stock Strat. It would improve the performance, however, if the envelope sensing favored the bottom strings a little more which would even out the overall response. Otherwise dynamite! Maestrohealymaestrohealy

I was expecting to have a cool funky sound for my bass rig… But no way, I haven't found any saturation with this pedal at all. Just pass on this pedal and save your time and money. I will be returning the pedal.1978circa3-9

This pedal is cool but kind of strange. The overall effect is very mild through clean instruments but is very noticable with distortion. It boosts your signal a bit which will cut your volume if you switch it off in the middle of a song. The white knob does reshape your mid range tone which can either add an extra layer to shape your eq or diminish your eq altogether. This knob always reshapes your tone in this manner regardless of what the other knobs are at. One major benefit to this is that it seems to polish your tone a bit. The difference was extremely obvious when I tested this through my full bore pedal. This is worth having but it's more of a secondary effect pedal. If you need something to go with your distortion/reverb pedal combo and don't want something generic, this is a good choice.gei_57
