I am a petite female and love the size of this Martin Little! I had considered purchasing a baritone ukulele with 6 strings because I wanted a very small body. The Little is larger than a baritone uke but is still within the range of PERFECT and came with an acoustic/electric option so I can jam! I have larger guitars but this little gem is easy to travel with and durable with great sound! I purchased a tuner cause the pick up didn't come with one. Absolutely love the colors on the neck! I purchased the Little Martin for two reasons. I wanted a small travel size guitar for grab and go playing on the couch. I also wanted a guitar that was not made of all solid woods, because I live in a region that has high humidity as well as significant cold in the winter months. The Little Martin checked both of those boxes. Even though it is small, the Little Martin has a very big voice. When you dig in with a pick, it really projects nicely. Chords sound great, and it has a nice tone. Due to its size, it also makes it easy to play with your fingers. This is a very well made small guitar that is going to last for many years. Bravo Martin!!
I have had my Little Martin for a couple of years at this point and of the four guitars I own, this is the one that gets played the most. This is because due to the small size and very stable construction materials and techniques, it is always near by, ready to pick up and play at a moments notice. While I keep more expensive and delicate guitars in their hard cases with humidifiers to maintain homeostasis as much as possible, the Little Martin is quite at home on a Jamstand next to my desk. I do keep a Planet Waves humidifier between the strings, even when the LM is on the stand because I live in the NE USA where the winter air in my home is very dry due to forced hot air heating. Since the body of the guitar is the High Pressure Laminate (HPL), it appears to me unaffected by changes in temperature and humidity, but I have found that without the humidifier, the bracing seems to dry out more and the sound can become a little 'pingy'. In fact this was my first impression when I picked it up at the local GC after ordering online. If I had not been able to play one in-store previously, I would have been disappointed with the tone and probably returned it. Instead I put on a new set of strings and put the humidifier between the strings and kept it in the quality Martin gig bag that came with it. Within a week it was sounding much better, more like the one that I tried in-store previously. Since the GC stores have good humidity levels in the acoustic rooms, this is a good way to try out a new guitar (after making sure it is in tune). The only reason that I ordered online to pickup in store was that when I was ready to buy, my local GC did not have it in stock at the time.Ron the eternal guitar novice

Great guitar. Unbelievable sound for this price range. You can distinctly hear each string ring out when you strike a chord. Rich, sweet, balanced and full. Great play-ability after a truss rod adjustment. I still need to lower the action at the saddle and nut another mm, but the action is super fast and easy as it is right now. The frets are well crowned and smooth. They aren't sharp, but they do protrude at the ends a bit. Filing them back won't be a big deal. Otherwise, fit and finish was perfect. I've owned a lot of acoustic guitars in various price ranges and the more I play this, the more impressed I am. I wouldn't hesitate to gig anywhere with this. I'm delighted. It's a keeper.c-cat1
I am a semi-pro musician with a guitar collection. I bought this for my daughter, a lefty, to learn on. There aren't many short scale, lefty acoustics on the market. I was skeptical with the low price, but this is an excellent guitar. Well built and looks good. Sounds very good for the price and the fact that it's a plywood top. Nut and saddle are a composite bone material (most cheap guitars come with awful plastic appointments). I will have to do a set up to lower the action a bit, (b/c my daughter is a beginner with no callouses!) but overall very happy with this purchase.mandojam8k06

Got this from Ithaca Guitar Works. Wanted to play it first. While it looks like a J45, it is a Martin. While the lower bout is an inch wider than a standard dreadnaught, it will not sound like a Gibson advanced jumbo. It is definitely a Martin and celebrates that pedigree. It is incredibly light. The light satin finish gives it immediate resonance and tone. And it will only get better. It is incredibly balanced string to string, but with a Martin bass. I own a Guild D20, which I prefer over Martin's D15 (it's close), but the spruce top on the DSS-17 adds a sparkle that is welcome. The Monel strings had to go. I can see why the late Tony Rice loved them for bluegrass. They are clear and don't overload a picker with overtones from earlier notes. I swapped out for a set of Daddario 12-53 Nickel Bronze strings instead. At times it rings and sustains like a 12 string. Can't stop playing her. The tuners are antiqued models from Stew Mac. They hold tune, but some creak and are not smooth. I am still deciding if noisy stability is preferable to smooth retuning. But they look the part of old tuners.Guild Lover
I've owned 2 Gibson J-45s. The first was a 2018 Sitka top, mahogany back and sides. The second was a Gibson J-45 with rosewood back and sides. Don't get me wrong, I love J-45s, but this Martin DSS-17 is killer! The bottom end reminds me of the 2018 45 I had, but more volume. The one I purchased had a hard case with it, so can't speak to the gig bag this normally comes with. I'd never buy a nice guitar with a gig bag. I'm too picky when it comes to humidifying my guitars, so a hard case is a must. I think this guitar had a great deal of thought put into it and they knocked it out of the park. This is my second Martin. The other that I own is a 000-15 SM, which is a great guitar as well. I'm still a Gibson fan, but let's be honest, a J-45 is a grand more than this 17. The guitar plays great, sounds amazing and looks stunning. Real cool vintage vibe. The tuners seem very precise. I was disappointed that the guitar didn’t come with a hard case, but I have to say I’m really impressed with the soft case that came with it and it is far more robust than I would have expected. The set up is excellent nice and low but no fret buzz. My Gibson will be taking a back seat now this baby has arrived. I bought this guitar to check out a budget friendly offering from Yamaha. I have to say I was not disappointed! Excellent tone and volume, the top really resonates. The guitar was really well setup right out of the box. It needed about 3/4 of a clockwise truss rod adjustment, no prob. Other than that it didn't need any fret dressing whatsoever. That's really impressive for a Chinese guitar. Heck even one of my Mexican Martins needed fret dressing out of the box! Also intonation was spot on and this also is important in your guitar. There is a point of quality when an instrument reaches when it stops being seen as "better or worse" but rather just a different flavor. This Yamaha has reached that point. You can play it alongside a guitar costing 5x more and it stands up well. Yamaha is also one of those rare companies with a long history of top quality across all kinds of products, and guitars are an area Yamaha knows well. This is just a beautiful guitar through and throughout. You can get beautiful uncompromisingly great studio recordings with this guitar. I've owned many acoustics over the years, MANY, and this Yamaha is one of the best sounding I've ever owned. Went to GC just to check out a few lower end acoustics to pick up for jamming on, and tried almost every one in the room. Picked this one up last just before I was ready to leave, and immediately was blown away by the sound and playability, brought a couple friends to listen and tell me which one they thought sounded the best, and hands down this won over all of them. It has the tone and warmth of a Martin D34, which I have owned a few, and it plays like a dream. The neck is so sliky smooth, easy to fly up and down with no effort. It has amazing sustain and beautiful tone, I fell in love with it and just couldn't put it down. I didn't expect a guitar of this price range to sound as good as it does, got it home and I couldn't put it down. Played for 4 hours straight, and even after trying to put it down to go to bed at 1am I found myself playing a for a few more minutes before I could actually go to sleep. Love this Yamaha more than any guitar I've bought in the last decade. The best thing about it is, It gave me the desire to pick up playing guitar again, after hardly touching any of my other guitars for almost a year it's the one I want to play more than all of them. Overall: While this has a decent tone, it's not going to improve with age as the top is a laminated top–not solid spruce.Moreover, since this is a guitar targeting the beginning student, I mark it down because the setup is NOT conducive to the beginner. The action needs to be lowered and the Fender branded DuraTone strings it came from the factory with feel more like a medium gauge than a light gauge. I have a 12-string Yamaha that is easier to play than this.But to give it some props–the price includes a hardshell case–something no other guitar in this price range offers. And the abalone rosette is a nice cosmetic touch.The tuning machines turn smoothly and it does hold a tune very well.And for those who object to Chinese-made guitars, this was made in Indonesia.David
Generally, it is a great guitar. Many of you would expect a low volume for a mahogany top, back and side guitar. However, it's dreadnought style compensates for this and thus you will have a warm mellow toned guitar whilst still having plenty of volume. The guitar looks a lot better in real life than on the photos you may see on the internet. Contrary to the CD60S spruce top (built in Indonesia), this guitar is manufactured in China. The tone difference between CD60S spruce top and this one is small as the spruce top also has mahogany back and sides. This guitar however is one with great overtones. Being a novice, it is a great starting guitar. My only complaint is that the nut and saddle are plastic. The nut, in particular, causes the guitar to be in need of tuning every 2 or 3 days. However, this disadvantage is very manageable and if you prefer, you can spend a tiny bit of money to replace the nut with a bone nut at a guitar shop. If you webchat with a guitar center rep they might be able to give you a discount to cut the cost of this guitar to the price level of the cheapest possible for a major manufacturer's acoustic guitar.Dan the Beginner
My daughter bought this for me a couple years ago because I spend a lot of time on my butt with chronic back pain. Once I adjusted to it's larger size easily can lay down playing it. I'm 56 years old and been playing guitar since I was12. Let me tell you the beautiful tone that comes out of this instrument rivals instruments 5 times the price. Overall: All I can say is I am really glad I bought this guitar. I am not going to go into a three page novel reviewing it. I will say this is my second Taylor. My first is a 416ce-R….I purchased a couple of years ago which I love playing, and enjoy thoroughly. That being said I love this GS Mahogany Mini more. For a fraction of the cost you have an awesome guitar here that plays incredibly. Bought a SKB hard case to protect it. The case that came with it is nice, but not for air travel. I just can't stop playing this mini. Great sound, playability, quality and beautiful. Glad I bought this guitar. No regrets!
This guitar is warm and rich sounding. The playability is incredible and feels amazing in the hands. It looks like it is worth more than what it is. Taylor took the care and attention to this line of guitars as it does with its higher end models. I used to have a 614ce and this mini is on par with the way it feels. Obviously not as loud as the 614ce or as pretty, but the care in craftsmanship is the same. Not that the guitar is pretty though. I love this guitar and could not put it down. Sweetwater also did an excellent job on inspecting and packaging this guitar to make sure it sounds perfect when it arrives in my hands.

An extraordinarily well designed and made guitar. The scale is a bit shorter than most guitars so it's easier to play, the bevel on the body makes it more comfortable to play, the fit and finish is perfect. It sounds good acoustically and plugged in. Really nice for finger style, and surprisingly good with a light pick. The back and sides are layered Sapele wood, the top is solid Sitka. The neck is maple. The tuners keep it in tune. I've played quite a few smaller body guitars in my 4 decades of playing, and this one is right at the top of the list along with Martin 00 and 000 models. I've been playing guitar for more than 45 years. I played hundreds of gigs with various bands in my younger years and still perform on rare occasions. I still play and practice every day and play many informal get togethers for small crowds. I own a Taylor NS42ce, 514ce, 312ce, 812ce 1st edition and a 914ce. I purchased this guitar for settings I wouldn't want to risk my more expensive guitars doing such as outdoors, campfire gigs or when I just wanted to throw it in the car in case of an impromptu party or get together jam. I can't tell you how surprised I was when I tuned up and started playing this guitar. I'm not going to try to tell you it plays or sounds like my 914ce, but I am going to tell you it plays and sounds amazing for a guitar twice it's price or more. This guitar now sets on a stand next to my desk in my office and gets played every day. It's a price point I don't worry about it setting out or getting a ding here or there and it truly is a pleasure to practice on and play. Thanks to this guitar I play more than I have in years and it's saving daily wear and tear on my more expensive guitars. This is hands down the best acoustic every made for a beginner's skill set and budget, but I will tell you first hand, it will put a smile on a seasoned player's face as well. I had been looking for a reasonably priced mid-range acoustic guitar. In most of the reviews I read they said that the Taylor Academy was a great "beginners" guitar. I have to say this is an incredible guitar all around and works well for any level of guitar player. Absolutely loved being able to go into the Sam Ash store and look at the guitar. Knowing ahead of time that I was buying a knock-off with an Ibanez decal my expectations were not that high but I liked the idea of not having to flip another guitar around, besides at this price the risk was minimal. My first impression was shock at how good it sounded, a bit trebly at times but great bass tone and natural reverb effect, and quite loud. It's tough on fingers but that is why you practice. There is a pinch on the B string after the 12th fret but how often do you go there? I am replacing this with a higher quality guitar but I will not retire this one as it is great for "campfire" style playing. I would recommend this for a beginner/novice player. In the year that I have been looking at it I have discovered zero flaws in manufacturing….but that's mine.The Ghost

I'm left-handed but tried to learn right-handed with a Yamaha FG700S — a lot of guitar for the money. After two months I gave up and replaced the Yamaha with a lefty PF15L with which I made more progress in two days than in two months struggling right-handed. But this guitar isn't half the instrument the Yamaha was. It's so poorly made that I had to run sandpaper around the backside of the soundhole to remove little splinters from when the hole was cut; they were clearly visible from almost any angle. The light-colored binding on the edges of the fretboard was covered with dark glue which I scraped off with a razor blade. When I unstrung it to reach inside I found that the tuners were loose and tightened them with a wrench. After all that it just doesn't look as good as the Yamaha. It doesn't play or sound up to the other guitar either: the sound is thin and trebly, not full-bodied, and the intonation at the first two frets is slightly sharp. The action's a bit high so a luthier might be able to improve the intonation by cutting the nut-slots deeper, but then this inexpensive guitar wouldn't be so inexpensive. I'll learn on it but when I know what I want I'll get something really nice. For right-handers there's something really nice at about this price: the Yamaha FG700S. I was nervous ordering a guitar I hadn't put my hands on however I am quite pleased with my new guitar. The only regret I have was not purchasing the live version. I was tempted to return it and grab the live one but since receiving this one, I have been playing it at least 3-4 hours every day and it just feels too good to part with. I kept the original strings on for the first week and a half. It sang nicely right out of the box, aside from it being a tad out of tune (which was expected and easily fixed). I did put some Elixir strings on (Phosphor Bronze w NANOWEB Coating) however I didn't like the sound it produced and ended up replacing that with a new set of Ernie Ball strings (Medium Light Earthwood Phosphor Bronze) and it sounds amazing now. 10/10 This guitar was just going to be a place holder until I purchased a Taylor GS Mini-e Koa (I'm still learning guitar, so that was going to be a "when I get good" present to myself) but at this point, it's no longer a goal. The look, feel and sound of the Oliver Jr makes me want to play and keeps me playing.Drew B.
..So it's been two weeks now since I received my new Oliver Jr Mahogany Live from Orangewood Guitars. I wanted to spend some time getting acquainted with it before I just fired off my opinions of it fresh out of the box. I am an old guy who has been playing/performing for decades but retired from live gigging in 2015 and pretty much just put away all of my "stuff." However, as a guitar player, I have always admired acoustic fingerstyle players and now have decided I want to try tackling that style more seriously. I thought the best way to start this journey would be on a 3/4 size shorter scale or "parlor" size guitar which I've always thought were pretty cool anyway, and on a model that wasn't going to break the bank..ie., I didn't want to spend more than three hundred bucks! So I researched several guitars in the size and price range I wanted and found the old saying "you get what you pay for" to be very much alive and well. After trying the Yamaha F Series offerings, the Fender C-100, the Gretsch Jim Dandy, an Ibanez PN12E, an Epiphone, and some others.. I didn't like any of them! So it looked like I was just gonna have to drop big bucks on a Taylor or a Martin or something like that in that price range to get any satisfaction. Before doing that though, I decided to take a chance on the Oliver Jr. Mahogany, of which I had seen several reviews on You Tube, etc., etc. I figured if I didn't like it I could send it back. Well, guess what? I'm keeping it! It looks great, I love the size, it sounds very good for a small guitar, even better than I thought it would, and after a tweak or two of the truss rod it plays great. Of course the Ernie Ball "medium light" strings were killing my fingers for the first week or so but I decided to leave them on to see I could get used to them which I eventually did and they seem fine now. I'll probably go to a lighter gauge when the time comes but for now I'm just gonna stick with the factory issue strings which Orangewood recommends. So while the Orangewood is not a Martin, Taylor, Zager, etc.,in my opinion, you cannot get a better value at a great price on a quality instrument than this Oliver Jr provides. I'm glad I gave Orangewood a shot and I'm definitely a satisfied customer. Sorry for the long review!Dan M.
I have taught guitar for 15 years to students of all ages. This guitar has revolutionized how younger players can get up and running very quickly due to the amazing playability, solid tuning, and wonderful sound of this instrument. If you are a parent thinking of. getting your child started on guitar this is hands down the best quality for the price point. Too many times I have had parents spend money on instruments that look good, but are cheaply made, tough to play, and never hold tune….which only frustrated the student as well as myself. I only recently came across this company and directed two of my students to purchase this guitar and they are now up and running faster than any of my other students. Even barre chords are.a breeze. I had been looking to get back into the guitar after a long hiatus. I didn't want to jump in the deep end with something expensive at the start, but still wanted something decent to play with, after some research decided upon the CC-60S. The guitar does exactly what all the reviews say it does for beginner learning. It feels comfortable, sounds great and isn't as tough when navigating the frets with chords and notes. PMT delivered the CC quickly, was securely packaged and I've found no defects. Would recommend anyone thinking of learning the guitar to purchase this from PMT.John O.
My guitar does not have any obvious defects in it's construction, which is more then I can say for some other guitars around this price point. The lightweight strings it came with make it easy to play for an acoustic. Sounds pretty good to me. Even smells nice, faintly like cut hardwood.SEAN
I like this guitar very much. It sounds beautiful, it looks beautiful and it plays well. The action on the guitar was a bit too high(0.012" on the 1st E string above the 12th fret). I had to adjust a truss rod a little anyway(instructions are provided with a tool included). It lowered the action a little(to 0.010"). Still not enough, so I will have to remove some saddle with sanding paper-a simple task, down to 0.007"-0.008". Eventually I want to replace a saddle, nut and pins with a natural bone and a new set of phosphor bronze strings, which will notably improve the sound…I can barely wait. A cost of these parts is affordable and well worth it for this beautiful guitar. For somebody who is new to these tasks, there are videos on You Tube that show you how to do all that correctly and it's a fun challenge. TWO TIPS: 1) There is a plastic film cover over the sound hole. It will leave some adhesive around the sound hole, when you remove it. Don't get frustrated by it. It gets easily removed by using Naphtha-a safe dissolver used by professionals, that won't damage guitar's finish, if used correctly-sparingly on a piece of cloth. 2) A pickguard is covered with a transparent film. I haven't played in a few years but the pandemic had me searching for something to get my mind off working crazy hours. There would be few guitars I'd buy sight unseen but I rolled the dice because I'd played Martin's first backpacking incarnation and was familiar with their quality. This little guitar wouldn't disappoint! It is a smaller scale but my fingers fit on the fret board and it's easy to just leave out and pick up when you need it. The sound is really good for the size and it's easy to strum or pick. It was exactly what I was looking for but a little more. I honestly didn't expect to be this happy with how much guitar I got for the price. If you need something to stick by the desk or play by the fire, this is a good optionBob
it arrived yesterday to romania, from music store germany (thanks for handling it with so much care!) and i laid my hands for the first time on this loveable tiny beauty. it looks amazing and feels amazing, in every aspect. excellent playability all thourghout the neck, right out of the box… i wanted a travel buddy — small, sturdy, light and playable… and here she is. there are a lot reviews on the net, i will let here my own subjective opinion, after one day of having it (shipped from music store, germany). – i'm a tall guy (6 feet 3 / 190 cm), but the smallness of martin lx1 is not a hindrance in playing. my wife is a mongolian petite, so perhaps I'm used with handling small beauties 🙂 – i have big hands, but not thick fingers. if i stretch my fingers i can cover this guitar's neck from the net to the 10th fret (from pinky to thumb stretched out) — so you can have a clue; however, i feel comfortable playing all over the neck, even past the 14th fret. so no problem with that… and the transition back and forth to my normal-sized acoustic fender pm1 or to my electric squier affinity tele feels smooth, adjusting in no time. – the guitar is neck heavy, but it doesn't bother me at all; you see, it sits comfortably in my lap. – well, of course, the sound is not of a normal-sized guitar — one has to live with that. it is somehow a boxy sound, but martin has a lot of character, so i'm quite pleased with the sound. the guitar seems to suit better for fingerpicking or strumming with bare fingers; when i use my pick it's too noisy, especially the d string is sooo loud, taking over the other strings. in know, it's a new guitar, freshly out of its box, so perhaps it needs time to shape its sound. if this will not happen (due to hpl back and sides) i will still be pleased, the sound is good enough and i can work my way around. – the machine heads are of excellent quality (like every aspect of this guitar, actually): i tuned the guitar yesterday, after taking it out of the box, then forgot about it… summing up: craftmanship — state of the art sound — boxy, you may like it or not (martin has character, a distinct voice, above all) optic — beautiful as it gets, simply perfect price/performance — well, i would have loved to pay less… in the states, it was 399 USD until recently, now it's more expensive and perhaps the price will rise as well in the current covid situation; so buy know, don't postpone if you consider having one.
I played a friend's dreadnaught sized Martin and fell in love. I already owned two other guitars at the time (Samick and a Fender Redondo Player acoustic) and I didn't want to spend the money in a Martin at this time. This happened to pop up as a stupid deal of the day and so I bought. I wasn't sure about the laminate at first, but it feels and plays like a well made guitar. It sounds bright and it is a tone I enjoy hearing. If someone had given me advice as a new player I would have wished they told me about this guitar. It is concert size so it is a little smaller than a dreadnaught. It is easier for me to practice barring chords and doesn't feel as awkward on my body as my dreadnaught. I love both guitars, but I definitely still use this one as I advance as a player. I noodle on it when I am watching tv, take it when I go way for the weekend, and bring it to play for my friends. Once I let the guitar acclimate to my home, this guitar sounded phenomenal. It's a solid warm tone, across the strings and up the fret. mine didn't need a setup it was perfect out of the box. I didn't adjust anything, though I did change the strings. The case is OK, but the sound from my Fender is so warm and sweet and it not flat at all, I couldn't put it down for the first couple weeks, the action was easy, and the neck was great, I actually sold my Eastman as It was IMO inferior to my Fender and forced to re-evaluate my collection. I might add bone pins just to see if it enhances the highs a little but no changes needed out of the case. I love this guitar.Charles
I purchased this Guitar as part of Andertons Black Friday Deal. It even comes with a Case! First Impressions of this items were incredibly Positive. The neck feels very slim and comes in a satin finish which is my preferred feel. The Action on my model came set up reasonably low to medium for my tastes. As primarily a Single Cut Electric Guitar player i felt immedeately at home. Due to its small size it doesn't have a very pronounced low end but it still has a very full sound, albeit much brighter than a traditional dreadnought western guitar. The built in electronics include a Tuner and Fishman pickup. I so far only tried the pickups with my electric guitar amp which naturally colours the tone but it still sounded quite nice on a squaky clean setting.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
A. I sent it back. B. They could have had a winner, but they just didn't. Why? the neck is sized for children who's parents aren't likely to spend this much for what was supposed to be a traveller for the general population. The design was pretty cool but they really didn't do it any favors with the lackluster matte milky satin finish, and I like satin finishes a lot, just not this one and not on this guitar. The top is super thin so it was very resonant, but still very thin a marginally voiced. Lot of sustain though, not well balanced at all. I guess to put it in perspective, I've played numerous mini guitars all a fraction the cost of this model and they were all around more pleasing and had tone to eat this one alive. They all had the same nut width, but you could play them and happily, that was not so for me with this one, was very cramped and like holding a small flattened pipe. Lots of buzzing, very low saddle but still medium (higher than ideal action) all that is code for "poor neck angle". Was glad to see this one go and wait for the right mini guitar. wish the guitar was as good as the case. I really wanted to like this one, but didn't really like anything about it but the sustain and purfling.th

Overall: Played one 10 or so years ago but didn’t get because of other obligations. Never forgot how it played and sounded! Finally got one and it is a truly excellent guitar. I have a Gibson CJ165EC, which I love, and the 000-15M is a totally different sound, which I wanted. Needed some Martin jangle! Out of the box fantastic. The mahogany tone is unmistakable and rich! Neck is a thin Martin neck, which I’m fine with. I’ve been playing for 53+ years so I kinda know what I’m talking about. Putting in a Fishman rate earth soundhole pickup and this will be my busking guitar! Really happy with the guitar and with zZounds. Delivery was fast and purchase was flawless. I ordered this online after discussing the purchase with Sam Ash Staff, it was in short supply, they scouted all Sam Ash Stores, they found one and it arrived two weeks early just after christmas. My wife loves it! It's her 2nd Martin Guitar and this one is her prize instrument. The staff at our local store were really helpful both with the Order process and preparing the the guitar upon arrival at the store. I asked about the 1st year instrument maintenance option and they were able to update our purchase to include that. The guitar sounds great, my wife loves playing it even though she is a novice. I have wanted a triple-aught mahogany guitar. I preferred the Guild D20 dread to the Martin D15, but was open-minded about which 000 brand. Didn't like videos on Taylor and Alvarez all hog orchestra models and was very impressed with the Martin videos. So ordered this. Was also a big fan of Kenneth Pattengale and I'm With Her who use the 00-15 model. Let the box sit half a day. Upon opening it I was greeted by this amazing scent. The guitar came set up with low action, slightly detuned. The bridge and fretboard appeared to be stained morado (a very hard and valid wood, harder than rosewood but not quite as much as ebony). Tuners are Grover Statites. They are firm and perhaps a little too sensitive to sometimes dial in. The body was a gorgeous chocolate with amber-orange highlights. The guitar was immaculate. Martin Lifespan 2.0 PB 12-54 strings. It sounded really nice with the ebony pins which were fit absolutely perfectly. However, I had already purchased Blisstime unbleached bone pins which fit perfectly too. I got even more sustain and a more melodic tone, along with greater volume. This improved the strumming tone immensely. May switch to nickel-bronze 12-56 strings, but I will wait for now. The guitar is super-light and weird to hold after dreads. The tone is dark (as expected) but ringing. There is the hog compression, but I was amazed how great this sounded brand new. I did humidity it overnight. Intonation was spot on. The frets were dressed wonderfully with no protruding ends. No truss rod wrench, nor polishing cloth like with my DSS-17. The case had a small ding in the tolex which I was able to bond into place cleanly and disguise. The case is very nice, but without built-in humidification like my Guild. The tone is beautifully even and not bass-heavy like the D15. The treble keeps up with the expected mids. The end pin was not pushed in all the way by me as it was very tight. May opt to have that professionally assessed. I don't gig, so a pickup is not for me. I did get a tortoise pickguard. This is definitely a keeper which I will pamper.Tom

Una delle migliori in questa fascia di prezzo, mi ha stupito soprattutto il suono; pieno, brillante. Ottimo prodotto anche per il prezzo. Ho acquistato questa acustica per studiare alcuni metodi blues; siccome il blues veniva suonato con strumenti parecchio economici ho acquistato questa ephiphone che comunque mi ha sorpreso parecchio; purtroppo la versione mancina c'è solo in colorazione natural (che non mi dispiace) altrimenti l'avrei acquistata nera, la consiglio.
E’ una chitarra entry level, ma ha un suono di categoria superiore. Il legno è laminato ma ha un manico molto bello e delle finiture, soprattutto la parte posteriore, decisamente gradevoli. L’ho acquistata nella sua versione natural, ne esiste una versione completamente nera, e nel mio caso è una left handed. Il rapporto qualità prezzo è molto buono e poi epiphone è un marchio noto ed affidabile. Non ho messo 5 stelle perchè sulla laminatura anteriore si vedono alcuni nodi del legno. Se volete una entry level, da acquistare senza riserve.

Sound: it is amazing the sound it has by its self, cant wait to plug it in Overall: looked at alot of guitars with cut aways,, and went with the Fender. I started learning electric guitar about 3 years ago, and have improved a lot with persistent practice. When I decided it was time to buy an acoustic, all the experienced players I talked to said 'get a Yamaha.' So, I did my research, did some play tests, and ended up with a Yamaha FG830. Now, this was a fantastic sounding guitar, just beautiful… but… a little ringy, and boomy on the lower end for me. I guess this is something the really experienced players like? Not sure. When I picked up this Fender cutaway, Whoa! Now that's what I'm talk'in about! I loved it so much… very rich, full tone, which can be mellow when it needs to be. Just the right amount of sustain. Long story short, I traded in the Yamaha for this Fender CD-60sce … no regrets. I can't put this thing down, I love it! The pickup is a nice bonus, very versatile! I like the neck better than the Yamaha, and the action was super easy to set with just a quarter turn of the truss rod. I think I'm hooked on this guitar. If something were to happen to it, I'd get another — same model, same color. The instrument is flawless, very solid construction. I am so, so impressed! I wanted a guitar that sounds like recordings I love that have Martin guitars in them, and this one does it for me. It's just a beautiful sound, rich in mids, fairly quiet in the lows and highs. I like the wide nut for fingerpicking, and the richlite fingerboard is smooth and comfortable. My only complaints are that the guitar doesn't intonate that well up the neck, and the fret ends are a little (just a little) poky, but neither of those issues was enough for me to return it.Kat P
Overall: I am a multi instrumentalist, a veteran luthier and lover of well crafted and beautiful sounding instruments. I have been searching for a not too expensive parlor style guitar and stumbled onto this little gem. All solid wood construction although you will not see the brace coupling the back plate, it doesn’t have one. Not a deal breaker, taking proper care of the guitar and there shouldn’t be any issues. I had to do a bit of digging to see if it truly was in fact solid woods because usually it is stated in the description, yes indeed true. This is my opening box experience, meticulously packed by zZounds and Martin, A+. Inspecting this guitar I found nothing to huff over, in fact I will give QC a 99%, beautiful guitar, frets are probably the best out of factory I have seen as of the last ten years. The action is high and will need tailored to suit your needs. After tuning up it did not leave me wanting, deep woody low low mids, high mids, and a warm higher register with a nice sparkle, and not tinny like some other guitars in this price range and above. Playability is hard to believe you are on a 24” scale length, not cramped and the 1 3/4 nut is a boon. Brilliant guitar and for 550$ you will not find a better guitar in my opinion. Be aware that Martin leave their guitars set with a high action so yo can set your own preference, I will doing this to mine and changing the Martin retro strings it comes with, not keen on them. But other wise, tone is to be heard to be believed. So full and warm you wouldn’t think it comes from such a small guitar, it’s great. Oh, Martin also don’t pop in the bottom strap peg, they just leave a hole and the peg in an envelope in the case. I guess it’s in case you want to open the hole more for a pickup which I will be doing, but if your new to guitar buying this may seem strange, but it’s easy to just push fit it if that’s all you want. If you want low easy to play action straight out the box, this may not be for you, but if you prefer to set a guitar up to your specs like I do, then you really can’t go wrong. A loverly ALL SOLID Martin for this price, what’s not to like. I think I’ll be able to give it 5 stars in a couple of years and I’ve heard it settle in and the wood start to age.Kirk R.
