The design hasn't changed in years, so "if not broke don't fix it". If Hercules stands are good enough for the Captain, Pete and Chappers in the studio, then I think they'll definitely do for me. It would work well if mounted to solid header or wood strip mounted to the studs. I gave it 4 stars only because of the whole nitro thing… Its a great product, does exactly what it is supposed to, and it comes with everything you need to safely install it on the wall. However, the packaging (and this is on all the manufacturers of guitar stands) says that the foam "may" react to certain nitro finishes. Why can't these things be lined with felt, or some other cotton fabric that nitro does not react to? Half of my guitars have nitro finishes on the neck, and they have been reissuing vintage era guitars for over 20 years, why is this still an issue? So I cut up an old T Shirt and wrapped it around the fork, just to be safe. It looks like crap now, but at least I don't have to worry about destroying a $2,000 guitar (or 2 of them). Can we please have ALL guitar hangers/stands be designed for nitro finishes? Is that really too much to ask for?Marty

Item arrived very quickly and was at a very reasonable price. The item is sturdy and the hook/cradle is consistent in shape with other String Swings that I have. I have 6 other hooks of the same type and place one underneath the guitar as well the one under the head stock from which the guitar hangs. This is my own paranoia rather than a weakness of the hook. I have had one pair of hooks for over 17 years and another pair for over 10 years, in both cases the rubber on the hook has remained intact and has not marked or dis-coloured the guitars at all. Great product. I have 8 of them and have not been disappointed yet. Just what I needed to show-off my guitars and get them off the floor/stand, Arms of the hanger are such that they can be bent (pushed) out or (squeezed) in to accommodate different size guitar necks. Great. The only reason I didn't give this a 10 was because they originally come with some screws and sheetrock anchors that just don't seem that strong to me. I chose to use standard 2 1/2" deck screws instead to fasten the wall hanger to my wall stud. That way I don't worry about my guitars ever coming loose from the wall. Also, no evidence of rash or rub marks on the necks. Great. They are metal, have a clean look, and have adjustable arms at a decent price.
This hanger looks good, is very easy to install, and is more than stable enough for my Charvel acoustic. The anchors went in easily, and they provide superb stability. Just make sure your placement on the wall is right the first time to avoid damage to your walls. The 15 lb. weight limit for use with the anchors has nothing to do with the hanger itself, but more to do with the type of wall that it is anchored into. I put my extremely heavy 1985 Carvin V220 on the hanger and it was fine, but I would not leave it there permanently. For the Carvin, I will screw the hanger into a stud once I get my man-cave finished. I also love the fact that the base is flat and unobtrusive – very classy. I also used a 4" furniture slider with a soft carpeted face as a bumper. I just used a small nail to attach it to the wall to protect the wall and the guitar. I would definitely recommend this hanger.
I've had my Takamine for 20+ years now and have always thought that it would look great hanging on the wall. I wished I'd hung it a long time ago… It looks great!! I had to drop a star due to the included anchors. I was mounting the hangers to drywall. The included anchors seem fairly puny for this task. I just could't trust them to secure my guitars to the wall. I ended up getting some 75 lb EZ Ancor, and #6 drywall screws (anything larger won't squeeze through the holes in the mount, and anything shorter won't reach through the mount and into the anchor). Once I had the proper anchors and screws, the installation was simple. If you are unsure of the process, you can find many videos explaining how to install drywall anchors. Once I mounted them this way, the hangers are solidly attached to the wall. I'm not worried about hanging even the heaviest of my guitars.Raj

This is the best guitar hanger I have ever owned. Been playing for many years, have never come across one as strong and attractive at the same time. I love the wall mount and the way that it looks. Appealing to my rooms decor and it’s built with strength. I haven’t installed yet because time hasn’t permitted, but the mount itself comes with the wall anchors and screws to manage the installation. I’m very very excited and looking forward to displaying one of my favorite instruments soon.J
The mount itself seems great, no complaints there. However don't use the included screws and wall anchors. The anchors were much too large for the screws and they immediately started pulling out of the wall. Luckily I was right there to catch it before the thing completely fell off the wall.New User

Stands barely hold smaller profile headstocks ( i.e.- strats). By slightly tilting the stand I was able to securely hang a stratocaster. Though, it will continually be a concern every time the guitar is placed on the stand. Furthermore, the hole placement is such that only 2 holes will line up when mounting to wall studs. You will need to use the supplied wall anchors for at least one of the holes. I would be further concerned about stability if the wall hangers were installed away from studs using only the hollow wall anchors provided as support. Overall, these wall hangers are okay and will get the job done. With minor improvements, these could be great wall hangers.Rev C Delite
Portable hanging rack for multiple instruments. They do "swivel", but only to the extent you can adjust them into a semi-permanent tilt and I had to get to the proper tilt by trial and error. I agree with another comment that the hardware supplied isn't very substantial if you were affixing them to a sheetrock or similar surface but the screws seemed fine for going directly into wood. For the price these do the job perfect. Got those Basses off the floor and on the wall and out of the way. Comes with decent anchors and screws. Attach the arm first to line them up. I like this stand more than the regular floor stand because this does not put any pressure on my plugs and cords. The bottom of the guitar doesn't touch the stand. The large footprint adds stability, which is great, but it takes up a whole bunch of floor space! My only real concern about this stand is how durable the padding on the neck support is; will it last very long? It seems a bit thin, and moves around when I place my bass in it. The support itself is sturdy and will hold the instrument with no problems. Overall, I am happy with this stand and will be using it as my primary since I do have the space for it.Craig O.
I picked these up from a DotD specifically for a Fender Meteora style guitar, which won't sit so nicely in regular stands due to its shape. I also wanted a good yoke, as a few of my super cheap stands had hard, protruding bits that left small dents in one of my guitar necks. This satisfied both needs. That said, you're likely weighing between a Hercules and this Fender stand. I'd say spend a little more and pick up the Hercs on a DotD. I picked a pair of Hercs up on a later DotD, and the clutch is much, much better on the Herc than the Fender's simple lever. The Herc has indentations in the support that allows the clutch to lock. The Fender is fine for lighter guitars, but can loosen up and drop if too much downward force is put on the yoke support. I had this happen once so far, and have moved my heavier guitars to the Hercs. I would not recommend this for a heavy bass guitar. All of that said! It's a nice stand, and does its job. I don't regret picking it up.Diffracted
I have similar stands from another company which are a slightly different design. The other stands are slightly more compact, since the yoke folds over the top of stand and lays flat against the rise shaft. That is the ONLY thing better about the other stands. The other stands were more expensive, have just as much plastic in the manufacturing, and were less stable due the fold-down locking leg design. Worst of all the other stands have the awful "locking" yoke, which folds tabs down on either side of the neck/headstock joint, at least until they break (which one of mine has). I don't understand the need for this locking yoke device. If the stand gets knocked hard enough to tip, as soon as the body of the guitar hits the floor, the yoke is going to release anyway and the guitar is going to fall out of it, right? Maybe I'm not seeing the purpose of that yoke, but it just seems like another point of failure to me. These Fender stands were an incredible bargain on the SDOTD. I wish I could fold them a little smaller for transport, but that would probably undermine the great stability they have, so I'll accept the very slight lack of portability in favor of the security and confidence they give. The yoke is stationary, welded to the rise shaft. It's slightly narrow, so I have to start the guitar into the yoke at an angle, then rotate it into position. This just adds to the stability, so no big deal once you get in the habit. If you try to pull the guitar straight out of the stand, it will pull the stand toward you along with the guitar. Once again, not a big deal if you simply remember to twist-then-pull. The only other issue may be the base mechanism's screw/handle, which holds the legs in the spread position. The screw is threaded through the red plastic piece which holds the legs. Only time will tell if this design will hold up to regular use, and is my only real concern with these stands. Not worthy of a star deduction yet, but we'll see…Steve-O

I bought both this bracket (K&M #16280) and also K&M #16250. K&M recommends both brackets for all kinds of guitars. This bracket is a better choice for classical guitars, though, because it is deep enough to keep the tuning pegs from hitting the wall when inserting or removing the instrument. K&M #16250 (Musician's Friend SKU #712675000000000) is very shallow and harder to use with classical guitars; I think that one is better for electric guitars. 16250 also has spring-loaded arms, a nice feature that this bracket does not have.cE!
