Definitely the best strings at the price point lately. They have a thinner or smoother wind than Ernie Ball slinkys or Daddarrio exl and this results in less finger noise and a zingier tone IMO. I'm into clean and classic rock, and I doubt you would like these over the former two names if you were into more modern and metal sounds. It depends on the guitar for me, on my strat I could use just about any strings. My guitars with humbuckers seem more picky, at least to my ears. I prefer these over the other two as far as cheap strings go, and these are often cheaper. Win win. Used to be I would never have preferred Fender strings so either my tastes are changing or these strings have changed over the years.Joelish
Overall: Don't pay any attention to the low price these are great strings. Have used Fender 7250's on all kinds of bass guitars they always sound great and feel good. According to a Fender rep, these are what came on the Fender PJ bass I ordered from Musician's Friend. They produce the classic Fender tone I wanted. I eventually replaced them with a set of Fender 7250L (.040, .060, .080, .100) to make it easier to play on the guitar's 9.5" fingerboard radius. I stayed with Fender because of the tone that the 7250M strings produce. I got the first set of these as a gift and put them on one of my guitars. When I played the guitar it seemed a lot easier to play, silky smooth, and sounded very good. I would not think that strings could make that big of a difference but they do. I feel just like Yngwie ripping up the fret board. This 008 – 046 gauge is the ideal for heavy metal and fast players. You have a very soft 1st string for fast and easy pull ups, and a heavier 6th string for better palm muting and power chords. It is not random that Malmsteen plays with this set. Bullets also help to keep things in tune. If they were 008-010-014 I thing it would be better though.
These strings are awesome. I am a die hard EVH user. I own 27 guitars and have EVH strings on all of them. But I am now migrating towards these strings. Some of my top model guitars are strung with Yngwie strings. I buy them whenever I can. They feel great and sound even better. If Yngwie actually uses this product, I can see why. I really like these strings. They are warm, and give what I believe to be the best tone on my Stratocaster's and Telecaster. I don't really remember when I first started using Pure Nickel strings (of any brand), but I DO know I have never used anything but Pure Nickel since. The strings got a 4 star rating. I purposely omitted 1 star because, I feel they don't last as long as say a Nickel wound D'Addario would…but then again, I have not found a Pure Nickel D'Addario set of strings. So I forfeit the longevity for the tone. I DID just today order some Fender 150M (medium gauge 11's)…which are also Pure Nickel. I would never order 10 sets of strings if I didn't like them. A friend of mine bought out a music store so to liquidate he sold me all the strings and drum sticks in stock .. there were mostly Fender strings so I started using them . 20 packs of 9's lasted me well over a year . Hey you music hounds out there! Give Guitar Center a shot at setting you up with some gear! I also asked if they traded used pedals towards a new pedal and, yes I walked out with a new distortion pedal!! Strings are the lowest around town and in stock. These 3250 nickel plated steel wound fender strings really sound good with the bullet ends (more surface touching the tremolo) and steel is stronger and less likely to break on a large bend and the sound is a little stronger on the pickup I've been playing 30 plus years and tried many string types and this is what I buy!!! I like regular gauge .10-.46 but the choice is yours =JamMan= play till I drop……
The reason I tried these strings (3150R) was because i bought a Telecaster (Baja) in 2007. I read about fret wear being less because it matches the alloy in the frets of new Fender guitars, in comparison to steel strings. Therefore there is the hope it offers less wear and tear on the frets. I had also had problems with the Telecaster 'icepick' sound on the bridge pickup. These strings softened the icepick sound I was getting with steel strings. They last for up to 4-6 months. I think the Tele and nickel string combo is a winner for me. My attitude towards Fender strings changed after this, so I tried the bullets on my Strats. Guess what they were even better with tremelo dives and resistance to detuning. But I thought the pure nickel really affected the sound I got. I like the biting sound from steel strings (GHS Boomers, 10-46) on both a 1970 Stratocaster and a Lace sensor stock equipped 1990 Strat Ultra, so I choose the nickel-plated (3250R) steel strings. Pure joy of sound from both. I had to get a refret on the '70 Strat in 2010, so it was a good move to use these strings to avoid fret wear.

If you haven't tried them since their packaging was reinvented, they're definitely worth a look now. Tried D'Addario pure nickel strings, found the wound three to be too low output. I swear the core wire looked like it belonged in acoustic strings. Maybe I got a factory defect, who knows. Gibson strings sound great initially but the 'G' starts to sound dead after a week and the wound strings sound dead and filthy in three weeks. These on the other hand sound marvelous. After watching a few videos on YouTube about string gauge, I thought I would buy the Regular Slinkys (10s) and see what difference that would make. When I got online to buy I saw that Guitar Center had a sale on 12 packs and since there is a pandemic, I thought it prudent to hoard strings. My logic was that while I may run out of TP, I would never run out of strings for my guitars. Long story short, you cannot go wrong with the tone of 10s. I do like them better than the 11s. They are much clearer in the low end and you get more definition. I have to do less EQing when recording and they just seem to pop better in a mix. The only downside is that they are taking me time to get used to, I play very heavy handed and these are much easier to bend. But I can already see that I have less hand fatigue.Richard

I used Fender strings a long time ago and they always performed well. I made the change to super slinkys many moons ago but decided to go back to 350L when I changed over to my Nighthawk. The slinkys seemed a little dull, maybe it has something to do with the Nighthawk having a Fender scale length. Great move! Everything is much brighter and present with no sacrifice on bottom definition. I play every day and liked the longevity of the super slinkys so we will have to see how the Fenders compare. I have used Ernie Ball Slinkys since I started playing guitar (time that can be measured in decades, that's all I say). I have been through other top brands, and just don't like them. I have gotten to know EB strings to the point where I can nearly predict when they'll break. That's good in my book. The lively tone and intonation stays for a LONG time. Overall: Tried these out on a Gretsch Pro Jet and the combination was a game changer for me. Took a minute to get used to the feeling, but now I won’t play anything else on that guitar. Rich, warm tone with a fair amount of sparkle. Especially good for jazz chording and rhythm playing. The price is made up for in longevity. These strings sound great after weeks of heavy use.
D'adddario are quality strings.I have used TI in the past. and DR flatwound. The TI swing 12's were great sounding but expensive. The DR flatwound 11's were good also . I prefer the gauge on the Dr 11's. Recently I went back to the Daddario chromes. To get the guage I wanted I purchased Chromes 10's, replaced the 1'st string with an 11 and the 3rd with a 22.(Equivalent to the DR 11's) At this time they sound great. Quality sounding strings and the price is not bad compared to TI and DR. I have also used the Chromes 11's, but have found the gauges in this pack to be a little heavier than what I was used to. I'll probably stick to Chromes 10 and replace the first with an 11 and third with a 22, As far as tone the Chromes are brighter than the DR. The first electric guitars I ever got up close and personal with were owned by Country-Western groups and Popular Music bands. As I recall all of their guitars had flatwounds on them… When I finally decided that Rock Music and the guitar was for me it was 1965. Most everything was round wound then for a more wild raucous sound… cheaper too…. flatwounds were out of fashion. Well here it is all these years later and D'Addario still make flatwounds. I began a renewed interest in learning some of the older sounds I heard as a kid, so decided to try these on a Stratocaster. D'Addario is a great string and I am looking forward to the experience… my only complaint is that Musicians Friend does not carry the Ultra light set in 9 gauge which I would prefer on the Strat. I like the strings, but the over advertising on emails is really annoying. I’m not sure who is your marketing manager, but your time would be well spent at NAAM, Local guitar dealers, online advertising, etc. Maybe even getting a contract to put your strings on specialty guitars from the manufacturer, along with specs that only you meet. I had been reading about these strings in forums etc and was intrigued. Decided to try a set or two and see what was up. I bought the 10-52 Signatures. Well, I have been using them for a month and a half and all I can say is, believe the hype. The feel great, nice on the fingers, and it seems like the difference in quality of the metal is noticeable. I mean, it feels that way. Maybe it's something else. I don't know but they feel good, hold tune very well and settle in easy right after they're strung up. In six weeks of home playing they have not diminished in tone or tuning stability at all. I recently had some repair work done on my 79 Peavey T-60 and the tech recommended these. I haven't played my T in years, and back when I did, it was in my garage band where we cranked out a lot of Zeppelin and Hendrix stuff. The T-60 offers coil splitting via the tone knobs. At 10, you get single coil. Below that, you get a variety of full humbucker tones. It has a 25.5 inch scale. It's a perfect cross between a classic Fender Strat and a Gibson Les Paul, with some Telecaster tossed in on the neck pickup. I'm finding this time around with the T that I'm really enjoying the clean tones I'm getting, playing through a Fender Princeton Reverb Reissue, as well as playing through an overdrive pedal (to get some dirt without scaring the dogs out of the room). I'm never sure with strings how much is sales talk and how much is legit technical merit, but I am finding I am enjoying the feel and the variety of tones I'm getting – single coil or bucker – from myT with these strings. I've got about six hours play wear on them so far, and there is no visible discoloration so I'm thinking they should last as long as they claim, to justify the price, which is the only reason I don't give them 5 stars. Have almost every string. Have a new Eastman t486, 335 clone, that has not sounded right with other strings. Latest we're Tite Fit 10s but they were muddy on this git. The Gibson Vintage 10s are full, smooth with great overtones. Very musical strings. They also allowed me to lower the action to spec without buzzing. I have tried many other strings but have found none that can equal these Gibson reissue pure nickel. I have tried D'Addario, Ernie Ball, and others but these are the best sounding strings i have ever used hands down! I LOVE these strings. I have about 5 sets of Ernie Ball regulars in my guitar case but they will remain there and never get on my guitar. Why? These Gibson's are SUPERIOR and literally sound 5 times better than any other string in my opinion. I can't get over how good they sound. I know I am over the top here but to me they are that good. They have a deeper full beautiful tone and they stay in tune better and they just make my guitar sound so good. I am hooked on these strings. I just ordered 4 sets as I am scared as hell that they will discontinue them for some reason. (notice they are REISSUE). I found out Malcom Young used Gibson strings (heavier gauge than these though) and that says it for me. I consider Malcom Young to have been a very good judge of guitar strings. I used to have to buy the Skinny Top Heavy Bottom and Power Slinky set in order to get the low and high strings that I preferred but ever since Ernie Ball came out with this set I don't have to. It's my go to set of strings for standard because I like tight strings that I can chug or shred on. Plus they last forever. Get these!Rollin
The biggest selling point for Super Slinky strings is their magnificent tone. There really aren't any strings that sound better than these for hard rock. But as others have noted, they are sometimes prone to premature breakage of the unwound strings at the ball end. It you use a locking tremolo like a Floyd Rose, then this isn't an issue, as you'll be cutting off the ball ends anyway. But for everyone else, he's a trick that I (and many other players) have been using for Super Slinky's ever since the 80's. Just grab your soldering iron and solder the string down where it's twisted around the ball. Just be sure that the twisted part is nicely coated with solder and you shouldn't have any more problems with early breakage. Don't worry, it won't mess up their tone of anything like that… not if you do it right. Try it and see!Rasterburn
These are really nice! They deliver very warm and round tones when playing clean; however, when using overdrive or distortion, the tone becomes pretty monstrous! Because of their thickness, understand they're not made for easy bends and jazzy licks. Additionally, if your guitar is set-up for 9's, or even 10's, you'll need to make slight adjustments in your action, especially if you're using a trem.Shane S.

First off, I am the biggest Van Halen fan you'll ever find and have nothing but respect for the Brown Sound. That said, you won't find it in these strings. They're awful. They're constantly at odds with my Floyd Rose and I've yet to keep them all in tune without the Low E flopping all over the fretboard. And the strings that do stay in tune produce a tinny, whiny sound through the same settings that were cranking out near-Van Halen tone from Ernie Balls. This is my first experience with the EVH equipment line and I must say I'm not impressed. The only connection to Van Halen I see here is that only Eddie himself could make these things sound good.Lee
If and when you find these for a reasonable price BUY THEM!! Since Eddy died anything with his name on it skyrockets in price. I don't play as often as I'd like, but when I do I play hard. These strings are some of very few that stay in tune, don't corrode or flatten out on the fret side. ALL strings should be thoroughly wiped down after use. I went up in price of product in the hope that the strings would be colour coded but more importantly, packed singly to make identifying the right string during a gig would be easier. Given the latest price hike, one tends to use the strings for longer and the risk of breaking one during a gig is higher. Guess I'll just have to use old packaging…hey ho.John V.

These replaced the set of 10's that came on my 25.5 inch scale Hanson Firenze; Jazzmaster style offset with classic-wind Firebird-like blade pickups and a Bigsby. No setup changes were required when I dropped back to this lighter 9.5 set. I can't tell the difference in tone but my 64-year-old fingers aren't feeling nearly as much stress when I play. I liked the sound of the 10's compared to the 9's I was accustomed to but my fingers never quite adapted. These in-betweeners feel great and sound good too.Dave
I'm very surprised these strings aren't far more popular. I think it's because most guitarists don't think about in-between gauges. You get the easy playability of 9 gauge and the tuning stability of 10 gauge. They're not so stiff that ye lil finger tip gets all sore doing them bends and not so light that when ya get all into the groove and apply a tad too much pressure them notes start to sound a touch sharp. As for tone, these sound great! Not too bright. Not too dark. Just right. I play a lot in drop D using a Floyd and these are the perfect string. Not too stiff, not too light. Perfect for noodling around the fretboard. I mean, these are 5 bucks a set. Buy a set and check em' out. I'm sure as hell glad I did. As far as stuff getting on your hand as one reviewer stated, well uh, I think that's a dirty bridge and fretboard. Definitely not the strings. How would that even be possible??DanGoodShot
I am beyond gigging at 77 due to arthritis and Tennosynovitis, but these strings allow me to enjoy jams without sacrificing tone. Some necks also become "just right" when they are too limber for nines. If you're a "Tens" minimum guy, give them a try and give your fingers a break. Ernie Ball does it right !

There are a few "good" brands of electric guitar strings, and I have always chosen Ernie Ball as my goto set. They cost less, and last just as long as anything else that I have tried so that right there is enough for me. The new Cobalt, and Paradigm series strings are even better in my opinion, and it is the Paradigm that I use on my personal guitars now but for every guitar that I sell (several every month) it is always Cobalt series strings. I live on the Florida coast so anything made of metal is short lived especially guitar strings but the Cobalts do the trick, and last a couple of months for me.zombie415.2009
These strings need no credability having already been used and endorsed by the likes of Eric Clapton and Steve Vai and many more guitar giants. I only recently tried these cobalts and will probably never go back to the standard nickel strings. The big difference you notice right away is the feel of the strings when pressed and played, almost giving the feel of having a scalloped neck. The strings have a sort of elasticity to them, making for easy bending. Just a great feel. The next difference you'll notice is the higher output they give, while in my case actually making each note more distinct and clear at higher gains. Yes they cost about twice as much as a packet of standard Ernie Balls or D'addarios or whatever but when you compare the price to that of bass strings or violin strings we guitarists don't have it that bad. The difference between Cobalts and standard Slinkys is for me about stability. They have a different timbre and are slightly 'louder' than normal strings but if you do a lot of bending in your playing I recommend you check Cobalts out because I feel they stay in tune better. I don't have trem guitars but if I did I feel these strings would cope better with radical whammy antics than ordinary strings. At the end of the day it's a personal thing but I knew that when I bought and fitted my first set and I swear by Cobalts now. I would also submit that they degrade slower than regular strings and so changing them less often offsets their higher price. Check them out.matthew2949

I went through two sets of these after my friend recommended them to me and boasted about how amazing they were. I had been using Ernie Ball Slinky sets and was still a fairly new player at the time, so I was trying to discover my sound. I put these strings on my Epiphone G-400. Tonally, the strings were pretty responsive and could really sing. However, I didn't like the fact that I had to crimp the wound strings due to the round core wire. It's just extra work, and I hate restringing as it is. Another problem: String breakage. Out of all the string brands I've tried, none of them have been as prone to breaking as DRs. Good tone shouldn't come at the cost of weak strings. Ernie Balls not only cost less, but their overall quality has been superior so far. Sorry, DR.

I use these strings on 2 different scale length guitars currently. One is a 26.5 and the other is a 27 inch scale 7 string. The package says they are balanced for a 25.5 inch scale but they work well with my current setup without unnecessary extra tension. They work great for the standard tuning setup of a 7 string but I currently am using drop A tuning as well as drop G# and the tension is still excellent. I have no tried these strings on a multi scale guitar yet so I am unsure of how they would perform but I would imagine the strings would be even more balanced ina multi scale configuration.JASON
