I was looking for a compact board for just a few pedals. I was looking at the Pedaltrain Nano and the MONO Lite because I wanted something that could fit in my MONO Guitar Tick. As much as I like Pedaltrain boards, their bags are junk and nice padded bags can cost as much as the board they carry. While the Dingbat Small is a bit bigger than the PT Nano, it came with what appeared to be (and is) a nice padded soft case at a price equivalent to the MONO Lite Plus without the case. Construction is very similar to the MONO: a bent aluminum sheet with holes for routing cables. One nice feature of the Dingbat is that it is built to accommodate a wide range of Voodoo Lab power supplies. Since I happened to have a VL 4×4 on hand, that was both convenient and cost-saving for me. Since I've made such a big deal of how a padded bag is included, I'll talk a little about it. It's form-fitting but has a good bit of extra space so you can stash extra goodies on top of or beneath the board when it's in the bag. With that extra space, it has velcro straps that help keep the board from shifting while in the case. Padding is quite good. It's no flight case but it'll help protect your board when thrown in the back of a car. The outer covering isn't quite as indestructible as on my MONO cases but I expect it to hold up for some time. Just finished setting up my Dingbat Large pedalboard and overall, I am satisfied with the product. I own a couple of Pedaltrain boards as well, so I was able to compare them to the Dingbat. I am happy with both brands. The boards are well-made, sturdy and provide practical solutions for using multiple pedals. There is one major difference (in my opinion) that distinguishes them. Pedaltrain boards have slots that span the entire length of the board making it very easy to set up your cables. However, this design sometimes makes it a little more challenging securing certain pedals with velcro because there may be less surface area. On the other hand, the Voodoo Lab Dingbat has much smaller slots for setting up your cables. I found this to be a bit more challenging because many of the holes are covered up by your pedals (especially larger pedals), so I had to be more creative in figuring out where my cables should go. However, this was certainly not a "deal killer." It just required a little more thought. Also, the Dingbat has more surface area so my smaller pedals are generally more secure. Both brands offer good soft cases. But I like the fact that the Dingbat case has internal straps that provide more secure packaging for traveling with your rig. I loved my initial thought of this pedalboard – good length and width, angled profile and great price. Ahh… but compared to other Aluminium boards like the Pedaltrain series, its HEAVY! Like, 5 pounds heavy! And thats without the pedals on it! The other drag is the placement of the cable/power wire openings… Theyre almost usess, well, unless you plan to use 5 pedals and have them 2 apart. The only way I could successfully wire it, is having the wiring and cables on top. On-Stage could make it better by just leaving the center cutouts as One Big Cutout. The oddly spaced cutouts bothered me more than the weight.thumprexbass
I play in a small country band on the weekends so I didn't need something big, only for a handful of pedals. I took a chance on this one because of the other reviews and the solid construction, compared to other flimsy boards. When it arrived, I was extremely surprised by the carrying case. I was expecting a glorified garment bag, but this case alone is almost worth the price of the product. It had a padded bottom and most importantly, a firm wall, so your pedals are somewhat protected from the bag being tossed around. I like the extra space in the bag because I can fit my cables into the bag as well. In addition they give you two long strips of Velcro to cut up as you please to attach your pedals to the board. I see that people have their own ideas on how to attach the Velcro. I simply cut a small square and attached one side to the bottom of the pedal and the other side the board. I have plenty of Velcro left over. You can also attach the entire strip to the board if you want, to make your pedal placement more flexible. I've hardly mentioned the pedal board itself. The board appears to be solid aluminum, rock solid, feels really great when you press against it with your foot, no give in the construction. When laying flat, it has a slight angle towards you which I really like. There is a hole in the rear to allow attachment of a power supply underneath. Compared to the other prices I saw for similar boards, it's hard to beat the quality of this board for the price. And when you add in the case, it's a no-brainer.Bama Player
Great piece for modest pedal rigs. No sharp edges. Wire management is easy through the slots on top for a clean and snag-free set up. The wall wart power supply fits in the hollow below making set-up, breakdown, and transport very easy. The tilt is perfect for visibility and switch access. Case seems well made, and the pedal protection is a nice bonus. I have yet to put this thing through the mill however, but its a hunk of metal really; what could go wrong? Recommended.John

I was looking for a compact board for just a few pedals. I was looking at the Pedaltrain Nano and the MONO Lite because I wanted something that could fit in my MONO Guitar Tick. As much as I like Pedaltrain boards, their bags are junk and nice padded bags can cost as much as the board they carry. While the Dingbat Small is a bit bigger than the PT Nano, it came with what appeared to be (and is) a nice padded soft case at a price equivalent to the MONO Lite Plus without the case. Construction is very similar to the MONO: a bent aluminum sheet with holes for routing cables. One nice feature of the Dingbat is that it is built to accommodate a wide range of Voodoo Lab power supplies. Since I happened to have a VL 4×4 on hand, that was both convenient and cost-saving for me. Since I've made such a big deal of how a padded bag is included, I'll talk a little about it. It's form-fitting but has a good bit of extra space so you can stash extra goodies on top of or beneath the board when it's in the bag. The magic number is 8 pedals. 5 across the bottom, 3 on top sideways. If you do 5 right side up on top, you're likely over the edge on both rows. Also, keep in mind in mind where your inputs and power jacks are on your pedals. The holes are place in a convenient mid section and top side which helps keep things neatly tucked under. I bought this pedal board as an alternative to Gator's aluminum pedal boards to piece together a basic board for my acoustic guitar effects and preamp. I chose this over the Gator offerings (which I also own, both the small and large size for my bass and guitar boards, respectively) because 1) the attractive price and 2) it's exactly the size I needed for my pedals. I gave the board four stars instead of five primarily because I have experience with the similar and slightly more upscale Gator boards. The carrying bag is identical in configuration to the Gator bags, but it feels a little flimsier. That's not to say that it isn't perfectly functional and able to survive the relatively gentle treatment I will give it. This board also does not have the power supply mounting bracket the Gator boards have, but that does not bother me in this instance because I am using a simple daisy chain. That said, it has enough room to mount one under it if you don't mind doing some drilling. For the positives, it's a solid, sturdy, lightweight board and the cable routing holes are practically placed for my needs. I mounted my pedals with both Velrco and zip ties (it sounds overkill, but in my experience necessary) and the holes also work well for that. It came with an ample supply of Velcro, too. This is my first pedalboard so don't have anything to compare it with. I went for this free routing model and glad I did as makes cable routing easy and tidy. Its a very sturdy board, its easy to adjust the angle of the board and it looks nice. The Smart Track feature is a nice idea but to be honest isn't really that great in practice. The clips are quite wide so you do lose a fair bit of space on the board. Pedals are not really that secure either especially if the pedals have shiny coatings. I don't gig yet and the plan with this was to get something to tidy up the pedals I use in my practice area. It achieves that perfectly but if I did start taking the pedal board other places I'd definitely secure the pedals with hook and loop to be on the safe side. I'd recommend getting this board but the hook and loop versions rather than the smart track ones.

The pedal board is a great idea and works well with the stomp boxes that are built to fit. The down side is that PE has taken it on themselves to try to a make a few extra bucks and sell the power supply that is suppose to be included in the price separately. If you go Also you can only purchase the box through Parts Express which leads me to believe they are also the manufacturers. Is there no end to greed for big business?? I got this reply to a similar post from a PE "customer". Justin replied: "Had the same issue but PE sent a power supply to make it right. It's form-fitting but has a good bit of extra space so you can stash extra goodies on top of or beneath the board when it's in the bag. With that extra space, it has velcro straps that help keep the board from shifting while in the case. Padding is quite good. It's no flight case but it'll help protect your board when thrown in the back of a car. The outer covering isn't quite as indestructible as on my MONO cases but I expect it to hold up for some time. Voodoo Lab does sell replacement cases so if I wear this one out, at least I can get another.Alec
Just finished setting up my Dingbat Large pedalboard and overall, I am satisfied with the product. I own a couple of Pedaltrain boards as well, so I was able to compare them to the Dingbat. I am happy with both brands. The boards are well-made, sturdy and provide practical solutions for using multiple pedals. There is one major difference (in my opinion) that distinguishes them. Pedaltrain boards have slots that span the entire length of the board making it very easy to set up your cables. However, this design sometimes makes it a little more challenging securing certain pedals with velcro because there may be less surface area. On the other hand, the Voodoo Lab Dingbat has much smaller slots for setting up your cables. I found this to be a bit more challenging because many of the holes are covered up by your pedals (especially larger pedals), so I had to be more creative in figuring out where my cables should go. However, this was certainly not a "deal killer." It just required a little more thought. Also, the Dingbat has more surface area so my smaller pedals are generally more secure. Both brands offer good soft cases. But I like the fact that the Dingbat case has internal straps that provide more secure packaging for traveling with your rig. Das Fender-Pedalboard hat mich zu allererst optisch angesprochen, die Metalloptik ist schon sehr chic. Die rückseitige Kabelführung ist gut gemacht, insbesondere wenn man die Länge der Patchkabel und Stromkabel selber konfektioniert hat ohne großen Aufwand ein sehr aufgeräumtes Pedalboard. Vor allem hat man generell mehr Platz und kann die Effekte flexibler positionieren im vgl. zu Boards von Pedaltrain. Die Tasche ist auch gut, gutes Preisleistungsverhältnis. Warum nur 4 Sterne: Die Antirutschfüße sind aufgesteckt und möglicherweise leicht zu verlieren. Das könnte dann rutschig werden oder den Fußboden beschädigen.
