Reviews:
Fantastic! If you already have an amp you love, the HX Effects is a great companion. I upgraded from a Line 6 M9 to the HX Effects, and was able to get rid of some of my auxiliary pedals in the process. My pedalboard now consists of the HX Effects, an expression pedal, and the channel switch footpedal for my amp (Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 36). I'm running it into the amp via the four cable method, and it sounds great. The vast majority of the effects sound very natural and analog-ish, even the drive effects. There's no amp/cabinet modeling, but Line 6 offers other options with amp modeling if that's where your interests lie. Most of the built-in scenes aren't particularly useful – they mostly serve to illustrate what the HX Effects is capable of. But it's easy to start from scratch and quickly get to some nice workable tones. Then you can tweak to your heart's content. The HX Edit software is very useful – while you can edit your patches on the device itself, being able to do so on your computer and have them updated on the device in real time is convenient. The only area that might be a bit lacking is the reverb patches. Most are carryovers from the M9 – which are fine – but if this is an area that's important to you, you'll probably want to stick with a separate reverb unit. Overall though, it's a whole lot of options in an attractive package that sounds great.Lane Denson
I have a Helix that I've been using for a couple years now, but I don't think that the amp models feel "tubey" enough to my hands on the guitar (though they sound just fine, and my audiences say they love the sound of them), so to make myself happy, I had the Helix configured in 4 cable method, with some Helix effects, thru 2 Mesa preamps in one of the FX Loops, then stereo effects (delay, etc) then out to a Mesa 2:90 power amp and speakers. Realizing that I'm not using the amp models, I bought two HX Effects units, one for before the preamps and one for after, saved myself some weight, and gained 4 effects stomp buttons and one more expression pedal jack! (and, if HX Effects had been available when I bought the Helix early on, I could have saved hundreds of dollars to boot) One of my biggest peeves with the Helix was that you can put maybe 30 effects into your signal chain, but then you only have 8 stomp buttons (configurable to 10 if you don't need bank up/down) to access them without constantly switching presets or snapshots. with two HX effects, you get 12 buttons and 4 expression pedal jacks. AND the expression pedals don't need switches (heel position automatically switches them off) which is something I really love. I'm not aware of the Helix doing this, but I'll look into it. I use an outboard switchless Morley wah pedal (thru another FX loop) because I prefer switchless wah for what I do with it, then I have a couple expression pedals for Helix volume and pitch-shift (whammy pedal). Last weekend, I did a festival gig debuting the HX Effects pair vs the whole Helix, and my 10+ year old faithful Morley wah failed on me during soundcheck! Well, with a few easy button presses, I simply changed the whammy pedal into a Crybaby Wah and the gig was saved! Technically, I could have just as easily done the exact same thing with the Helix, but in either case, a life saver. Who brings a backup wah to a gig? Downside of the HX Effects vs Helix is # of slotsRad
“Did he Just Say what I think he did” is probably the question you’re asking yourself right now! Let’s be real, acquiring gear is part of the fun of being a mucisian! I love the thrill of finding a new overdrive, or swimming in a new reverb pedal, I love gear just as much as the next guy, and don’t get me started about the rush you get when you discover a new piece a gear that no else has! But let also be a honest, gear is EXPENSIVE, and if you are anything like me you may have a spouse who doesn’t look kindly upon the purchase of a new Pedal, plus I have run out of excuses as to why I need a new pedal! So in order to acquire new require me to sell old gear, which means usually I get less then what I paid so technically I’m losing money! The HX Effects has solved that issue for me, with so many different effects, that run mon and stereo, and to add, they sound phenomenal! In no time you can create a gigable rig with this one piece of gear! The learning curve is quick, you don’t need a a loop controller, or midi controller, it’s already built in! This is arguably one of the best gear buys I have ever made, no more losing money, no more unhappy wife, and with every update Line 6 makes, it’s like getting a basket full of new pedals! Do yourself a favor and save your marriage and buy one! Pros- •portable •gigable •sounds great •easy learning curve •usable pre-sets out of the box • Mono & Stereo capable Cons- •what cons?!

Reviews:
I needed some funky guitar for my House projects. Wow, did this fit the bill. It actually became the spotlight sound in a couple of tracks. The guitar riffs are easy to create with a lot of great-sounding presets to start from. It's really set-up like a synth but the sound is Stratocaster-like. Just add some drums and bass and you've got the base layer for a great track. Perfect guitar sounds for Reggae too. I haven't worked with the acoustic guitar or power-chord sounds yet but, they're there when needed. This was well worth the price if you just want some backing rhythms.TomC

Reviews:
Sound: OK, so the pre-set programs are hit and miss for me. But that had to be expected, as I am not plugging a guitar into it, but rather a Korg RK100-S2 keytar. For obvious reasons, the cleaner patches, and patches designed around arpeggios sound decent, while the shredding metal patches sound like ass. I'm sure they would both sound good if I was hooked up with an actual 6 string. Features: The most useful feature as far as I'm concerned, are all of those knobs all over the front of the unit. They make it so easy to dial in the sound. Especially when compared to the all digital products like the GT-1. I had a GT-1B last year, and it was aggravating to modify sounds on the fly. The other most useful feature is the Tone Central app. OMG!!! Last month, I trashed Korg's design decision in their app for modifying the keytar's sounds. The window can't be resized, the lines of text are nearly microscopic, it isn't REMOTELY intuitive to figure out how to re-write the patches. Boss' Tone Central app is the EXACT OPPOSITE of all of that. Full screen, each effect section is on screen alone and has 3 different ways to modify the settings. Get things the way you want, name your patch, and click "write," then choose where you want it saved, and click "OK." It couldn't be simpler. Ease of Use: If the preset patches are hit and miss, the "manual mode" is why I bought this board. The keytar really needs some effects to come alive. This board is simply a placeholder until I can build a quality keytar/synth specific pedal board. Compression, delay, and/or phasers can add a lot of depth to my sound depending on what I'm currently using. Those dials make it super easy to get the sound right quickly. It does sort of suck that they are on the floor, but how could that have been avoided without bluetooth and a phone app? And, if that was the case, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place! Quality: I bought this "blemished." My guess, based on the condition of the box that the factory shipped to zZounds, is that this took a fall off of a shelf in the warehouse. One end of the box was mangled badly! Thanks to Boss' attention to detail in packaging, and legendary build quality, I got this product without a scuff, scratch, or dent for 20% off. I like that build quality. (Feel free to play football with some of those synth specific stomp boxes guys! *wink-wink*) Value: Before my fretting hand got too badly damaged to play bass anymore, I wanted the bass version of this product. I believe that it was discontinued, and I missed my chance. I got the GT-1B but didn't like working with it. When I saw that this was available, I didn't hesitate to put it into my cart. Only then, after the fact, did I realize that it was in "blemished" condition. I almost went back and put a new, full priced one in my cart simply because I didn't want the hassle of potentially returning a broken product. So, yes, I do believe this is worth the normal retail price. Manufacturer Support: In the 12 years I've been playing, I've owned several Boss products from tuners to metronomes to multi effects pedals and I have NEVER had to reach out for support. In my estimation, that's the BEST form of customer service! The Wow Factor: G.A.S.! I can't play guitar a lick. But I've bought guitars in the past simply to hang them on the wall. I can't say that I would ever buy THIS product if I didn't need it. But I'm sure that it will still find some place in my home studio, even after the actual pedal board is complete Overall: An easy recommendation for the guitarist on a budget. Depending on one's needs, stomp boxes and pedal boards can become quite pricey. Between this, the Tone Central app, and the hundreds of additional patches available there, if you can't get the sound you're looking for, the problem lies mostly with you.
I have been buying and selling multi effects for many years. I loved them all, even the silly ones such as the RP50, 505, ME30..too many. I guess my favorites were the Korg AX3000G(which I thought was ahead of its time) and the Digitech RP500(awesome reverbs, mods and filters),and even some Pods for their amp sims too. Yes yes.. they all had their short comings in different avenues.. Boss reliability is were a part of Ny early playing days since the 80s..and to this day, I use Boss single pedals almost exclusively as my main rig. I just love the simplicity of their individual pedals and this unit is the only one that comes close in terms of the logic of its settings. I love KNOBS, and the ME80 has plenty to go around with. SIMPLICITY is the key . No more scrolling up n down a screen on the floor which I can hardly see. Now is the ME80 the best sounding multi-effect out there? No sir! With all the current technologies which can produce units such as The Kemper, Fractals, Boss GT1000, and other high res IR capable units from Zoom and Line 6(including some very capable Chinese newcomers), the ME80 can be seen as kind of outdated to some, The ME80 is certainly not what the top guns use these days, especially when occupying an arena concert stages I'm sure(but I bet they still use one or two boss pedals in their rig lol)..Also, Let's not forget that the ME80 initial introduction day to the world was just about eight years ago.. shall we? But guess what, it's still alive and kicking! And that is exactly why you still see it here for sake in 2022 ar least until Boss comes out with some new monster that can handle the GT1000 chipsets and adding more KNOBS to its chassis. The ME80 is gorgeous, it sounds good, and it has a personality. It also has more to offer than its predecessors such as the ME50/70..I mean, the addition of a separate footswitch for reverb,EQ and a simple patch recall?? I would recommend this unit for any small club or a tight rehearsal space for a quick setup and a speedy wrap-up after a show, when it's finally time to go home, no patch cables required.I AM KEEPING THIS ONE FOR MYSELF! Till I get to warm up for Bruno Mars(not happening soon lol),My main Boss rig is staying home, and that goes to my crybaby and the Budda volume pedal with all them patch cables entourage.James
I don't want to program guitar effects. I don't want to read cheesy names for effects that I can't immediately recognize or understand. The young people like that stuff but I am old and old school. The ME-80 gives me my old stomp boxes but grouped on a modern platform. It is basically foot pedal controlled with a very nice expression pedal and 8 on-off pedals. The foot pedals work flawlessly. But the thing that makes this unit awesome is the knobs. You can turn a knob, set a value and get instant feedback on what you did and look at it anytime to see what it is set at. If you know stomp boxes then you know exactly how this thing works. It has by my estimation about $4K worth of stomp box effects and amp emulations. Whether you want an old Tube Screamer or a Big Muff Fuzz. This thing has it. And it has many new stomp box effects like the amazing Tera Echo, Harmonist, Freeze and a Looper. It has just about every effect you could want and you can play multiple effects at the same time. As far as I am concerned this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. And I am an original POD user. I still plug into the POD now and then. But the POD is history. The ME-80 is what I like today. I even commissioned a guy to build me an angled stand to boost up the knobs and pedal to make it easier for me to dial in changes. I had it painted orange to match my Orange Crush 35RT amp where I port the ME-80 output. Lastly, if you insist on being a programmer, they let you do that as well and offer a ton of presets online. You can hook up by USB to your computer and program away. Brilliant. The one down side… you have to buy an AC/DC adaptor for $30 or use up a lot of batteries. Well since I figure that I saved over $3,600 compared to the cost of all these effects bought stand-alone, I happily coughed up the $30.Brianne

Reviews:
I use this pedal for my guitar and ukulele. It is very user friendly and easy to learn. Besides the power supply and USB cable sold seperately, the only negative that I can think of is that you have to scroll up or down to access your memory banks. The preprogrammed effects are cool, but very easy to reprogram to your liking. The tuner and loop work like a charm. My favorite feature is the ability to switch from volume control to wah on the pedal. It works fast for reggae music.Jeff
I bought this little devil for my classic Roland GR-500 analog guitar synth and found everything about this efxs great for the price, love the feature of it's headphones out, always 've liked Boss products but this one definitly takes the lead for the compact size! I no longer need an amp to rehearse, create or warm up my fingers, still haven't try the loop but it is good to have it, nice wha wha and killer distortion with amp modeling! it too comes with the Sonar LE USB studio but has limitations… ok the only thing I really think needs is a direct memory selection for faster access! I do own for years a Roland GS-6 rack mountable which I use for studio and performing live which has a foot controler to select banks and patches while playing, but hey I did pay 5 times more for than one who rivals this ME-25! Great gear! I told a friend in L.A. yesterday and today he bought his!exavierdotnet
The Boss ME-25 does pretty much everything you could ask for in an effects pedal, each effect can be tailored to suit your tastes. I recommend downloading the free ME-25 Edit program which allows you to see all of the settings that can be changed. It also has a built in looper and tuner that work very well. I cannot think of any cons so far as it does exactly what I want in a pedal. Sadly they are no longer available. However, they can be picked up from auction sites or private sales for a reasonable price.g4tvk

OMG, this is the best sounding dual delay I have every heard and the phase modulation is a real treat. Yes, it doesn't do as much as some of the others but as a delay unit it has me hooked, unless FTT comes up with a better one this is the one I am sticking with.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

10. Eventide Reverb Plugin
Product Details:
Most reverbs are earth-bound and constrained by the physics of the real world. at large sizes, its soft attack and lingering, harmonic tails allows it to really shine on guitars, strings and pads. at small sizes those very same qualities can add an angelic sheen to vocals or turn a simple drum track into an otherworldy rhythm section. from the extreme to the sublime while it’s true blackhole is capable of creating space-warping special effects and drones, it’s also capable of creating musical and subtle effects you’ll find useful for highlighting key instruments or painting a backdrop for your mix. whether you're at the event horizon or closer to home, blackhole will inspire and amaze while its intutive controls will allow you to add that special something to your tracks without a degree in rocket science. in short, blackhole is destined to be one of those tools that you turn to time and again when reality just isn't enough. the secret weapon this famed, massive reverberator first saw the light of day as an algorithm in our rackmount dsp4000 and remained a favorite in the rackmount h8000fw. for decades studio engineers considered blackhole their "secret weapon." more recently, it was ported to our space stompbox and became the go-to ambient effect for guitar and keyboard layers. with each new version the reverb has been refined and enhanced. with the blackhole plug-in, any instrument in your daw can warp acoustic space and time.

Reviews:

12. D16 Group Fxtra Bundle, Vst/au
Product Details:
This software package includes syntorus double path analog chorus and fazortan controllable space phaser, two amazing plug-in effects from d16 group. syntorus has a unique sound that will add richness to any instrument, while fazortan gives you an exact emulation of old retro phasers from the 70s. get both of the amazing effects together at one packaged price.
Reviews:
Regardless of the price, these two modules the chorus and the phaser are simply sweet. I have zillions of vsts and I use these. There is something special going on with the phaser. On a string patch it is like perfection. Make them last a long time and they add that animation that keeps the patch interesting. For a floydian or genesis touch – they just can't be beat. The first time you use them, come back here and thank me. I bet the price, you do. Sorry for the hard sell, but there are so many vsts that are useless (Sonivox come to mind) but these are just so darn useful. And phaser is just not common enough in the vst world. the chorus of course is, but this one is still very nice.sonicblade
These are two great analog plugins that I use on a regular basis…..especially keys, synths, strings, and guitar (acoustic & electric). Although the GUI is a bit outdated, the rich analog sounds this produces are outstanding. Even with the ton of plugins I have on DAW, these are my go to……I would also recommend getting the rest of the Silverline Bundle as there's many more good ones there. 🙂St. Athanasius :))
Great sounding effects that despite their age, are still some of the best out there. D16 has great software, and you will not be disappointed. If you still aren't sure, go to their site and get the demo and see for yoruself how good these are. Works great on my Win7-64 system in Reaper, as well as Rewired in Pro Tools 10 via Reaper.Aovi

15. Sugar Bytes Guitarist (Download) Virtual Guitar
Product Details:
Guitarist is a virtual guitar that's designed to emulate rhythm parts played on an electric guitar. the actual guitar player has been transformed into a step sequencer system with a huge level of customisation when it comes to chords or fingering patterns and a detailed control over authentic nuance and expression. the sequencersthe patterns page in the centre is actually very easy to use. on 16 steps you can determine if a chord is triggered, which strings are played and if the strum goes up- or downward. each string can be played individually at any time, guaranteeing gigantic arpeggios, nuanced metal riffs are also easily done. the damp- and deadnotes make it funky and lively. the lower lanes are where you can define the chord sequences. select a root note, choose one of 12 different chord types, each available in three fingering variations and use the "step-repeat" for longer patterns. you can also create up to 24 user chords (incl. impossible chords) by clicking on the fretboard. the human touchthe "animations" page lets you program extra movements for each of the mechanical "fingers" on the fretboard. a finger can be moved up or down by one, two or three semitones per step, to enrich chords with harmonic elements. the "action section" offers the means for immediate intervention. loop parts with a press of a button, include dead- or damp notes, half tempo works as well. the guitarsthree different guitars are built in: fender's stratocaster and telecaster are included, along with a duesenberg starplayer special. the starplayer exists in a "bright" and "normal" version. each of these beautiful six-strings was recorded with 2,000 samples. extensive sets of fretted notes and open strings have been sampled, each one repeated several times. the "round robin" function can alternate the playback of different samples. in random mode, a sample is selected at random from the available pool for the note triggered. amps and effectstwo effect-units with 10 effects altogether provide the colors you are looking for. fx1 specializes in modulation effects, including a very nice chorus, a throaty phaser, and "phase wah" and "auto wah" effects. fx2 does classic delays and reverbs, and a reverse?buffer delay effect. two wonderful sounding amp models are available as well as a direct out mode for your favorite amp-emulator-software. and theres the wah-wah pedal. this is more sophisticated than the average guitar stomp-box, with an integral, variable?rate lfo to sweep the effect back and forth (this can be deactivated, and a midi controller assigned for manual control). the lfo can be set to retrigger with input signals above a given threshold (another way of producing "auto?wah" effects), and max and min controls allow you to set the upper and lower boundaries of the effect's sweep. sounds and presetspresets are sub-divided into four categories: global, sound, pattern and chord. sound presets store settings such as the guitar type and selected effects. pattern presets store the strumming and picking patterns, while chord presets store chord changes. selecting a global preset automatically loads the matching presets in the other three categories. however, you can mix and match the different categories, combining the chord progression from one preset with the picking from another, and the effects settings from still another. user presets of all four types can be created and saved. requirements:mac: ram: 0disk: 0version: requires macos 10.9 or higheradditional_requirements: sugar bytes plug-ins are available in 64-bit editions for both windows and macos. internet_required: falsesupport: 64_bitplugins: vst-2,au,aax,stand-alonewindows: ram: 0disk: 0version: requires windows 7 or higheradditional_requirements: sugar bytes plug-ins are available in 64-bit editions for both windows and macos. internet_required: falsesupport: 64_bitplugins: vst-2,aax,stand-alonelicensing:
