I got this CD three days ago. It is fantastic!! Sometimes, I just want someone to back me up while I improvise. On a rainy day, I might just want to have some pals come over, and I'll just strum chords. Prior to Clayton's CDs, all I could find was software in the hundreds of dollars, or, even worse, practice CDs were available, but they were in keys with flats and no chord symbols.This CD has no keys with flats. The two Latin-flavored tunes are like a home visit by Santana.They are in A minor. The three-chord blues tuneswill magically transport you Beale Street, in Memphis on a Saturday night. I hope that a future CD will cover the Chet Atkins fingerstyle technique, and teach not only the thumb bass, but also the banjo rolls. This CD is magnificent.EdwinInTexasold frog

This is pretty hard core jam, you have to jump in and time your fill. Very intense playing w a lot of rythmn guitar that I am not just used to. I could do without the rythmn guitar and allow me more space to breath and improvise.I had been using my drum machine which has bass lines and I was getting tired of trying to alter the patterns. These songs are hard set key all set to a standard tuning and a strict progression.I play a whole steop detuned and I do not use dropped D several songs are written, so some of these are increasingly hard for me to compenstate and play along. I am not willing to reset my guitar as a possibility because this is not how I play, my thick strings at std tuning, I don't think so.Not what I was expecting. I would prefer more a mix in keys and less "other' guitar. bass is fine, the funkier the better, hit the groove.This is too much like being tossed in an audition room, being expected to play your ass off on tunes you have no idea where they are going. I think I will try and stay more with the drum machines where I can at least adjust key and speed.stratosaurus
