Best Delta Blues Guitar (2024 Update)

On playability, the light weight and smaller size allow for a comfortable fit on my left thigh playing in the classical position. The tones are full-bodied and never sound toy-like as some small bodies do. I was surprised at the broad dynamic range, with comfortably audible pianissimo that can swell to a room filling fortissimo. Projection is significant, and may be due as Alvarez claims to it's back-shifted brace design which moves the X closer to the bridge plate. The V neck fits comfortably, I would even say ergonomically, in the palm. The nut width at 1.75 inches is not so narrow that my fingers crowd each other and not so wide that fretting both E strings is a chore. Regarding construction, Musician's Friend says this is a solid sitka plus top "with a solid mahogany body" but the Alvarez site does not include "solid" in it's body description. My fretboard looks and feels like rosewood, but Alvarez's site says the fretboard is "Indian laurel/rosewood." Inside the body things look neat and carefully executed but for one glob of glue that dripped from beneath the kerfing in the upper bout. On appearance, the design is, as its name makes clear, a nod to the old blues boxes but it isn't trying to look like it came straight from 1932 and I like that. The satin finished mahogany neck is smooth and natural looking, and a stark contrast with the shimmery glossed mahogany of the body. The teardrop sunburst means black edges and shoulders, and the gloss is so rich I can see my television screen reflected in the glassy shoulder when I play. The top woods appear to be well matched. The abalone rosette catches the light smartly and looks elegant but is not overstated. I like the absence of fretboard marker inlays too and wish more makers appreciated a clean board. Same with the absence of a pick guard which is unnecessary on a fingerstyler. For tone, I'm very pleased. I play with a balance between the flesh and the nail for plucking the trebles, combined with a fleshy thump on the basses that sets off a low velvety rumble and hum. I am getting full voiced, chiming tones that make playing both classical exercises and familiar songs in fingerstyle, like the Beatles "Two of Us," a pleasure. If I want to strum, I can get rich, ringing, jingle jangle chords with the backs of my index finger and thumb nails. The Alvarez Delta is a beautiful instrument and will very likely be my preferred steel string, if not my costliest, for a good while.William

Just got my guitar yesterday. Here are my thoughts. The packaging was decent and in the original Mitchell box. The guitar itself was in excellent condition and it was brand new. The piece is a beauty. It feels good only two issues. One is that the fret ends are a bit rough and second the truss rod cap was a bit loose. Other than that the guitar is beautiful. It plays very decent and I am a beginner so won't be able to give a very technical input.Numair

I have a few Mitchells, and none are bad guitars, though I have had to work on every single one of them, and this one was no exception. The guitar itself has a decent feel, and the pickups aren't horrible. I did have to do some big neck adjustments and file down some frets to get rid of fret buzz and dead frets. After some time working on it, I do enjoy playing it. It's really good for sitting around practicing if you want to save mileage on your more expensive guitars. I cannot say however that I would recommend this guitar unless you know how to work on it.Gorden

I bought this for my daughter and am experienced at guitars set ups. Out the the box its ok for a beginner. But Not for me. So I adjusted the neck and action. Intonation was way off. Neck adjusted easily. Action I was able to get to 1.75mm at 12th fret on low e with no fret buzz. Same as my ESP guitar. The guitar did intonate perfectly. Pickups are fine for a beginner. After a good set up I would play the guitar. Pickup is just ok. If you are a serious player then this guitar could be great as a beater. Proper set up. Vuy a used Seymore Duncan off ebay and throw in the bridge for cheap. Rough up paint and spray the finish with a can up duplicolor and clear coat it. Im considering getting one for myself and doing all of the above. I would have less than $200 in it. I guitar I keep on stand, not case and grab to play. If I ding it up I don't care. The neck was a little rough. I hit with 7000 grit paper and the neck is fast and good. Or if they lower price on other colors to $99 I might buy one of each color.dwsguitars

I purchased this Dean ML based on my appreciation for Dime and simply because teenage me committed to owning one someday. I found a pic that I took with Dime which reminded me of being in the front row watching him jam away on his Dime Slime years ago. For me, this purchase was primarily motivated by nostalgia, expecting build quality to be sort of, ok. I have to say, this guitar exceeded my expectations. Slight disclaimer: I purchased this item knowing I would immediately upgrade most of the hardware and adjust things to make it more comfortable for my playing. 1) It is a fantastic base instrument. It plays fairly well as sold. This was my first experience with a Floyd Rose Special. Also, it will definitely be my last. I played it stock for about 2 weeks to get a good feel for it before changing anything. It’s a great playing guitar. 2) Every review I saw said that the finish was amazing and pictures just couldn’t do it justice. I agree. They did a great job on the neck and body of this guitar. It’s flawless. 3) Everything was to spec on mine. Action, truss rod, intonation, fret, bridge and pickup height, all perfect. My fretboard had a somewhat excessive amount of dye on it but nothing too crazy. The nut on mine was clearly cut too deep leaving the high e in permanent sitar mode with fret buzz. So, quality control could be an issue. For my needs this wasn’t a problem as I had already decided on replacing virtually all hardware with new parts that I had on hand from a project that I decided not to restore. 4) The pickups sound great. The Dime Slime nailed the Pantera tones, not surprising. I was surprised by the classic/southern rock and soloist tones I was able to get with minor eq adjustments. Clear and warm through the drive/distortion. It does jazz and country pretty well too. It has a very balanced sound to it which I was not expecting. I’ve played it on three different amps with the same results. Great. This is a great buy. A solid guitar as is. However, in my case, this guitar didn’t really come to life until I did what I did: OFR Hot Rod, brass block,springs, some shielding, etc. Now, what really irritates me is that it plays a lot better than a few of my guitars that were either at or almost double the cost of the Dime Slime. Not a V type of player. I like Wilco, the Pixies, the Smiths, Stone Roses, Courtney Barnett, etc. So when I saw Ryan Adams rocking a V by that other manufacturer that starts with G, I started thinking about the V body style. I liked this model because it was at the right price point and had the tradition V body style, if you don't think too much about the headstock. This guitar probably hasn't gotten any love because I don't see it as your typical Dime type guitar, and its not your typical vintage Flying V. The pickups are not high enough gain to get love from the shredders and the Headstock probably turns some people off. What I found is a pretty great guitar with some help. First, the action was high. I lowered the bridge significantly. The good news is that the frets are good I didn't run into any buzziness after lowering the action a little lower than I thought I could get away with. Next, the pickups needed adjustment. They were pretty low. I brought them up a little and found that the sound filled out and got chimey like it should. I adjusted the pole pieces to match the fretboard radius and viola! Most of these guitars have good pickups and don't need an immediate change. Folks, you need to learn how to properly adjust your guitar pickups! Then figure out if you need something different. PS adjust these pickups on a clean channel, you need to hear the guitar not distortion. Long story short, this is a great guitar. It shouldn't be your main axe, but its a great conversation piece that sounds better than it should. I feel like I discovered a diamond in the rough. P.S. I have been turning my nose up at the mitchell guitars for several years. Saw them hanging in GC all the time and always on sale during "events". Just have always assumed, because of the prices, the brand was just a junky starter guitar for kids. I've been playing guitar for over 30 years now, I wasn't even going to lower myself to bother with this "no name" guitar. Then these went on sale. I looked at the features. Set neck, all solid "mahogany" guitar. Alnico pickups, coil tap, locking tuners, even an actual tusq brand nut. I really liked the look of the guitar too. I took a chance. What a great axe! Plays fantastic. Sounds terrific. Looks beautiful. You COULD nit pick a few little finish flaws here and there but for what you get for the price, would be almost criminal. A LOT of guitar for the money. Quite a "Starter Guitar" I WISH starter guitars were this nice when I first started playing. For comparison, My first guitar cost about exactly what this mitchell guitar did, and that's back in the late 1980's. And it was a plywood body, strat copy with a jackson type headstock. Cheaply made basic trem, 3 ceramic single coils, trapezoid junk tuners, super high action, super rough frets. You get the picture. But it was a guitar, and at the time I didn't know any better and I loved it. Looking back, what a piece of junk!! hahahaha. This guitar could EASILY be an experienced player's main guitar and do perfectly fine. It's really that good. At least mine is!Jason

I got this guitar for it's frequently advertised nearly 50% discount. The original finish I ordered was back-ordered. I waited 3 months and when I called, I was told it would be a further 7 months. The salesperson then offered me another colour at the same price and verified some were in stock. This time the guitar arrived quickly. It does have some minor cosmetic flaws, the flame maple binding doesn't meet up near the rear strap button. The jack well is not sanded (very rough wood fibres clear coated over and full of polishing compound), The string ferrules are not evenly set in the back, and there are fibres trapped in the binding at the base of the fret board. It was also clearly a return due to pick marks in the top. Now for the good things about this guitar: The neck is fast, and the guitar is beautiful. It was set up well out of the box, and the frets are fine (need only a minor polish). The pickups are good, the tone control is very responsive, It has coil taps and locking tuners. the nut is well cut. All in all it sounds great! If I'd have paid full price, I'd have returned it for the flaws, but at half price, It's a keeper.Trevor

I am always researching guitars and this is one that I have wanted to try out for awhile. They went on sale and I bought one. It got here fast, GC is always around 3-4 days shipping. They never sent a tracking # tho, I had to email them. On unboxing day I was sad to see a generic guitar box- no Mitchell labels. No manual or "case candy" whatsoever. Not even a wrench. Upon a once over I found a big ding in the 2nd fret over the G string, so that playing something like the bend in "Back in Black" was not possible. The guitar was not in new condition which was not cool because I purchased a new guitar. The guitar itself would be pretty nice if it were brand new. It came setup nicely. The fretboard is comfortable and fast. Features like push pull coil splitting and locking tuners don't usually come standard in this price range. The pickups were good enough for a wide range of styles. The toggle switch looks unfinished lacking the poker chip most Les Paul style guitars. The finish on the sunburst model is just ok, not the prettiest I've seen but not ugly either. This will be the 3rd time I've posted a review for this particular guitar. Hopefully it goes through this time though I'm losing faith in Guitar Center all the time.Ethan

Sounds great unplugged with clear tone and good sustain. Plugged in, this thing is a monster! Loud, boisterous, and powerful. The neck is the same width as a full size guitar and fits my hand perfectly. All solid wood construction and well designed electronics make this an unbelievable value. I’ve been waiting for the comets to be released I am also a product of Kalamazoo and was looking for a semi hollow. The pictures don’t do these justice. The guitar is double bound and is a glossy metallic dark blue. It fades and looks flat in pictures for some reason. Plus you get coil splitting and locking tuners. It arrived with a suitably low action and was ready to go out of the box. Has a classic look but modern profile — looking forward to playing this for yearsThomas E.

This is, hands down, the best guitar you will find at this price point. This would be a great guitar at $3,000. These are made by Heritage, in Kalamazoo and they are spectacular. Carved mahogany top, nitro finish, stellar quality all around. When you consider there are guitars made under contract for once great American brands in Asia that cost as much as this American made guitar, made in the old Gibson factory, you would be insane not to give one of these a try. Pickups are amazing, from screaming rock and blues to mellow jazz, this guitar is a total sleeper punching way above its weight. Plus, it comes in a $200 padded gig bag, not a cardboard box. Cannot find a single flaw and cannot put it down. I wish I had 4 hands so I could give this four thumbs up. That good. Get one.Mike

Played one of these at my local music store. Gave it to a fellow guitar player that really liked it. Soooo……I ordered one…….UNPLAYABLE!!!!! Strings slammed against the fretboard. Tried to adjust the neck and looked like a snake……..HOW COULD YOU SEND OUT A GUITAR LIKE THAT?????????John

I've compared every guitar on the floor and nothing was compared to the sound this guitar offers for the money. You won't go wrong. Some how the cutaway ones disappeared. But I'm shocked that the peavey brand offered such a solid sounding guitar.Daniel S

For the price, this guitar is awesome. The overall feel and look is outstanding, and the bridge pickup is clear and articulate (the neck is ok). The split coil sounds are chimey but not harsh and brittle which was surprising. No high frets, the nut is cut well for the strings, the tuners are pretty stable. Cosmetically the finish and general build quality is very good with some exceptions. Mine came with a crack in the veneer at the heel of the neck near the pickup. There are some pretty gnarly tool marks on the fret board and frets, but mostly on the higher ones which is pretty typical on something at this price point. there are some chips and what looks to be excess glue to where the nut is installed. Cosmetic stuff isn't THAT important to me, especially for lower priced instruments, although the crack in the veneer bummed me out so that contributes to taking away one star. What also is keeping it from being 5/5 is that the saddles could be a little more rounded off because the low E saddle has it's corner digging into your palm when muting, not painful just uncomfortable. Then finally I needed to add a shim because the angle of the neck was far too steep for me to get the action I wantedRuss

First off I was surprised with the overall quality although the tuners are it's weak point and should probably be changed unless the nut is causing the issue. Everything looks amazing and the sound is very impressive. The alnico neck pickup sounds beautiful. The bridge pickup does what you want to without a problem and overall sounds surprisingly great for rock and metal. The neck is very comfy thanks to those rolled edges and smooth roasted maple satin type finish and makes a big difference in the feel and comfort of the neck. This is a Fender Strat Killer. You get way more for the money and the overall attention to detail you just don't get with Fender unless you do it yourself. A little heavier than I would l would like it but an above average guitar in this price range.Doug

I’ll start with it out of the box. Please keep in mind this isn’t every guitar, just the one I paid for. The set up was pretty dreadful to be honest. I’m not sure if it was set up like that ready to ship, if it was sat in a warehouse like that before hand or if the shipment itself caused the major back bow. In either case, that caused a lot of fret buzz. A simple fix. I can’t fault it for being out of tune out of the box. The finish is great! A lovely, deep red that’s kinda sparkly. Very pretty… Apart from the tone knob which has dug into the guitar causing a scratch in the shape of a ring. The tone knob itself fell off after a day of having it (I think it’s quite funny as that happened to my 2015 ML1 after a few years). I imagine this being another issue caused by shipping. Fairly minor things for a guitar but not what I was expecting from one purchased brand new. I was really looking forward to loving this guitar but it seems somebody somewhere along the way didn’t put the care in to it. Next I want to talk about feel because that’s the thing you can’t understand until you’ve got it in your hands. It’s incredibly resonant and you can feel the guitar vibrate through your hands just like my Korean ML1. The neck is fairly thick, I like that. Some people don’t but that’s not the guitars fault. It feels like the Korean ML1 I mentioned earlier, just a little longer because of the scale length. The neck itself could do with being 5mm wider across to accommodate for the over crowned fret ends, leaving almost no room for the low B string to be fretted. Thus making it far too easy to pull (what would be the high and low E strings) off from the fretboard. I think that may be a flaw in the overall design of this guitar, particularly if you think about the floppiness of the strings even if they weren’t horribly down tuned. The fretboard looks much better in person and feels like an ebony fretboard [insert happy face] The frets are slightly dull and more importantly, heavily over crowned which makes it difficult to play those thick chuggy riffs we all know and love. Functionality: The locking tuners would’ve been a great addition to this guitar if they kept the guitar in tune. I might be going a little hard on this point but staying in tune is a vital part of any guitar and this one isn’t great at keep itself in tune. The pickups are ok, I love the ability to coil split and get some lighter tones out of a guitar. I’ve found myself spending more time with the coil split and it’s lovely. The full humbuckers just don’t have the bollocks they need. I would’ve preferred a HS or HSS set up but that’s a me thing and no fault of the guitar.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

I own several cigar box guitars – some I built – some I bought – usually fretted four strings that I mando tune. I wanted a three string for slide – I liked that this had a disk with a slide technique lesson. I was more than pleased – as an instrument, it's as good as most any CBG – they are all pretty crude at best. This one was easy to assemble – holds tune – sounds good acoustic or electric. There were some comments on it not using an actual cigar box, but a factory-made stylized resonator box. While this is true, it is at least as good as a cigar box, and I can understand why they broke that way for consistency and ease of build (which as I said, was super easy). Aesthetically, most people would probably prefer a real cigar box, but come on – it's like a uke – cheesy is part of the shtick. The lesson is good – play along CD and a book – comes with a good glass slide. I recommend it – worth the list price – all the better with the discounts.JoeFromSD

This is a great way to learn slide guitar. It is small & easy to learn. The book is full of great info. The CD is great, with back tracks, A tuning track so you do not need to buy a tuner, as long as you have something to play the CD in. It would be a good idea to buy a cheep tuner. As far as the price you just can't beat it. You can buy one for any wear from under $20.00 to $59.95. you just have to look around for a good price. Even at $30.00 to $ 40.00 is well worth it. The sound of the guitar very good and a small amp helps the sound but is not a must. Also you can take this any ware. In all this is a great product and was well thought out. I wanted a three string cigar box guitar and between a black friday discount and backstage pass points, I couldn't pass this up. Some reviewers complain that it's cardboard but domestic cigar boxes are predominantly cardboard. Also, Fender recently built a cardboard Strat that couldn't be told from a "real" Strat in a blind test. Build time was about ten minutes. I ran the strings around the tuners contrary to the directions so the string paths were straight. Sounds great acoustic and also great amplified. The only thing lacking is markers on the side of the neck. Maybe not sturdy enough for roughneck kids but a good introduction to the cigar box genre. Nice slide included.Mike

My bass looks to be excellent quality for the price point. The neck and frets are perfectly smooth with no sharp edges. Straight out the box all it needed was a quick tune. I love the sound. I'm only a beginner so I can only compare this bass to my Ibanez which is also great. After umming and arring about Squier guitars I figured for the price I couldn't go too wrong. I've owned many epiphones in the past and figured the Fender subsidiary should be of similar standard. I was not let down! For the price I paid, the instrument is absolutely magnificent. It looks, feels and plays like a telecaster should and is well setup out of the box. The only downside? It's a great beginner guitar but it cannot play drop D tuning. When I finished tuning and went back to play the first string that I had tuned it had already gotten noticeably far out of tune. Great for the price I guess but if your serious about playing maybe invest in a guitar of better quality.Ben

Without a doubt, this instrument is on par with the most expensive jazz guitars I have ever picked up in 45 years. The workmanship, detail, and component quality are right up there with the best. I did change the strings to LaBella Flats because I like flat-wounds on jazz instruments rather than the round-wounds. The action was perfectly set at 5/64th on delivery. I readjusted the bridge for a flat intonation of the high E, but that's it. I have the HB model (humbuckers) because I prefer them to P90's both sonically and cosmetically. The humbuckers are wide response with excellent output level. The only things you might object to is 1) the matte finish if you prefer glossy, and 2) lack of individual Volume/Tone controls for each pickup – but the feel, sound, and action match the best. I am a Godin fan for life! What a great value.bbqbob

I have been using this guitar for 3 weeks now. Beautiful instrument, it really stands out from the crowded guitar market with its unique design. I do not see any technical or presentation flaw on the instrument. The neck is very comfortable to play up to the 12th fret. Beyond this, the continuous play is not terribly comfortable due to the size of the body (I always had solid body guitar in the past). But that is fine for jazz. The sound is great! when it is unplugged, it has a beautiful resonance and tone (especially with flat-wound strings). Furthermore, due to the strings beyond the bridge, there is great sustain and overtones. Maybe even a bit too much. When the guitar is plugged in, it has a beautiful rich tone. I had a gig with a jazz quartet when I played in front of the amp, and there was no feedback at all. The mini-humbucker pickup is a little quiet compared to my other guitar that has Seymour Duncan active pickups, but that is ok. I just need to turn the volume a bit more up. The guitar is super light weight! It is nothing compared to my mahogany solid body guitar. This is again a great feature when you have to stand for long during a gig. The body size is not too large, not too small, very comfortable to play for longer periods. The case is similarly superb: lightweight and really solid construction. The only problem is that it does not fit in the boot of my car anymore (Mazda 3).. Overall, great guitar, fully recommend it. In terms of delivery, the only issue was that it was not stated upfront that the guitar has to be ordered from Canada. My impression was that it was available in the store already, but after ordering, it turned out that there was a waiting time. It was not bad, I have received the guitar in 2 weeks (including professional setup). It could have been worse. Apart from this communication issue, Richard was really supportive and set the guitar up without a flaw. Everything went really smoothly, though I was really itchy during the waiting time to finally receive this great guitar.Attila L.

This is a very nice guitar. The only thing I did to it was lower the action and change the strings to flatwounds. Because it does not have a heavy lacquer finish the tone really comes through. It is not fancy, but the wood is beautiful. The humbucker pickups are very clear and the tone knob changes the tone without muting the sound. Only one volume and one tone controls, so not lot of choices. At this price point this guitar is a great value. I really hated the TRIC case that comes with this guitar. It is made from Styrofoam with stretch canvas over it. It has cheap plastic hinges and the zippers don't always want to work. The handle is to tight and hard to get your hand around and the Velcro will not stay together. It is very large and bulky. It has backpack straps on the back side, but is too large to carry on your back. I don't know what they were thinking when they design this thing. I pull out my guitars and found that an Epiphone Emperor hardshell case (SKU 540810) will fit it perfect. In the TRIC case the guitar would move around, but in the Epiphone case it stays put. (See picture). I just put a Made in Canada sticker over the Epiphone logo and you would not know that in did not come in this case. 5 stars for the guitar and 1 star for the TRIC case. 🙂DonV

The mini-humbucker pickup is a little quiet compared to my other guitar that has Seymour Duncan active pickups, but that is ok. I just need to turn the volume a bit more up. The guitar is super light weight! It is nothing compared to my mahogany solid body guitar. This is again a great feature when you have to stand for long during a gig. The body size is not too large, not too small, very comfortable to play for longer periods. The case is similarly superb: lightweight and really solid construction. The only problem is that it does not fit in the boot of my car anymore (Mazda 3).. Overall, great guitar, fully recommend it. In terms of delivery, the only issue was that it was not stated upfront that the guitar has to be ordered from Canada. My impression was that it was available in the store already, but after ordering, it turned out that there was a waiting time. It was not bad, I have received the guitar in 2 weeks (including professional setup). It could have been worse. Apart from this communication issue, Richard was really supportive and set the guitar up without a flaw. Everything went really smoothly, though I was really itchy during the waiting time to finally receive this great guitar.Attila L.

This is a very nice guitar. The only thing I did to it was lower the action and change the strings to flatwounds. Because it does not have a heavy lacquer finish the tone really comes through. It is not fancy, but the wood is beautiful. The humbucker pickups are very clear and the tone knob changes the tone without muting the sound. Only one volume and one tone controls, so not lot of choices. At this price point this guitar is a great value. I really hated the TRIC case that comes with this guitar. It is made from Styrofoam with stretch canvas over it. It has cheap plastic hinges and the zippers don't always want to work. The handle is to tight and hard to get your hand around and the Velcro will not stay together. It is very large and bulky. It has backpack straps on the back side, but is too large to carry on your back. I don't know what they were thinking when they design this thing. I pull out my guitars and found that an Epiphone Emperor hardshell case (SKU 540810) will fit it perfect. In the TRIC case the guitar would move around, but in the Epiphone case it stays put. (See picture). I just put a Made in Canada sticker over the Epiphone logo and you would not know that in did not come in this case. 5 stars for the guitar and 1 star for the TRIC case. 🙂DonV

Excellent sound for the price. It's certainly no Martin, but it's pretty close for it's price range. Surprisingly close. It's loud. The mahogany back and sides give the nice vintage sound. It's light and resonant. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like years down the road, after the wood has really "opened up." Perfect for flatpicking and strumming. I wanted a guitar that had nice bassy lows and shimmering trebly highs. This guitar fit the bill perfectly after I changed the light strings that came on it and put some mediums. I've had mine for about 3 weeks now and I love it.Kev

This is my third Blueridge guitar. Musician's Friend consistently sends me flawless, first quality instruments. If anyone has any doubt, Blueridge guitars are first rate, beautifully crafted, beautiful looking, great playing as well as sonically wonderful instruments. For those researching and conflicted over their purchase, I also own a Martin MMV dreadnaught and have played D18s, D28s, HD28s and am amazed at what beautifully crafted, perfect and awesome sounding guitars they all are. I feel the exact same way about my Blueridge guitars. As a patriotic American I wish all my guitars were American made, but I have to live within my means and my desire to play the very best I can afford. This is a great guitar, comparable to the very best and most expensive. Go for it. I also own a Blueridge BR-140A and BR-160 and this review would also describe them accurately. They all have rich warm bass, perfect mid-range and bright, even, and sparkling highs. I've learned that for my tastes medium gauge strings are best on dreadnaughts and the thickness of your picks determine the warmth and/or brightness of your sound. Experiment with different strings and picks till you find which combinations you like. I believe you are sure to like your new Blueridge BR-140.Guitarzan

After allowing the guitar few weeks to adjust and giving it a good set up including new strings and a neck adjustment (tightening the rod), Conditioning the fret board and a good polish, The guitar is easy to play and has great sound for an inexpensive guitar. I like the So Cal green color others may not as it is a vintage vibe. Tuners are price point but even price point tuners these days are decent. A little sticking from the nut, I think I can lightly file that out and add some nut sauce. The fret ends were not too sharp but I conditioned them to a nice smooth finish useing 500 grit sponge. Very little cost to make improvements and the guitar is fun to play. The sustain is probably the biggest suprise and I am satified to practice with this guitar every day. Very pleased for the cost. Guitar is ok for the price; however, I was expecting the strings to last longer than 2 days before breaking. Even the extra ones that came with the bundle broke as I was putting them on. I had to buy better ones and had a professional put them on to make sure they were adjusted correctly. Additionally, the small tuner's battery was dead out of the box so I had to get a new one. Again, I guess you get what you get for the price. On a positive note, the guitar looks nice, the small amps is super convenient, and everything arrived fast and together in one box.Luis L.

The guitar did not have the black scratch panel that is shown in the Sunburst guitar. Also, when my son opened the gift guitar, the black bag was covered in a white mold/mildew. It was delivered one week before his birthday and kept in a dry room, and opened for the first time on his birthday. The guitar seems ok, I will know more when someone with some guitar knowledge checks it out for me. It may be going back to the store. The pictures show exactly what the bag looked like minutes after the gift was opened. Looks rough, 2 stars are for the fact that the guitar was not moldy.Kacee

I purchased this guitar when it was $95 off full price. So that kind of makes it a worthwhile purchase. Definitely not worth full price in my opinion. Poorly packed with insufficient padding in the box allowed two of the strings to be bent during shipping. I assume this happened during shipping. They wouldnt send bent strings right? Thankfully they provided back up strings… The nut is very poorly crafted. You can visibly see burrs and imperfections in the nut that cause the strings to ring out of tune on certain parts of the fret board even after tuning. The pick-up selector nob fell right off first time I adjusted it. I will have to glue it myself. When the notes do play out true the triple pick ups sound better than the Peavy beginner guitar I used to have– Which only had two pickups and came in a similar starter package but was about half the price as this guitar. I think if I research how to fix some of the issues I can make it playable. But this guitar is far from playable out of the box. Fairly poor quality control.Cody

I was looking forward to ordering this as my first guitar after taking some classes a couple years back. The shipping was remarkably fast–however, when the product arrived the amp was completely broken. Upon plugging the guitar into the amp and strumming, it would make a horrendous scratching, broken sound. Plucking strings has the exact same effect, and occasionally the amp will cut off after a second of playing. I've tried adjusting the dials, turning overdrive on and off, I even bought a new cord thinking that was the issue to no avail. To make matters worse I have called the customer support number multiple times asking if I could recieve a partial refund, or ship back the amp for a functioning replacement–every time I'm left on hold before the call disconnects, if I can even get through to begin with. The only reason this isn't a one star review is that the guitar itself works fine and looks beautiful! I wouldn't reccomend buying the full set if they don't bother to make sure one of the most essential parts is functioning before shipping however.James B.

In December 2020, I purchased the Beginner Electric Guitar Kit w/ Case, 10W Amp, Tremolo Bar – 39in. The packaging was excellent and the delivery was on time. Initially, I purchased it for my kids but they did not express any interest. So, I took up the guitar myself and started learning via YouTube. I popped a few strings and when I took it to the guitar shop to have the strings replaced, they were pleasantly surprised by the quality workmanship of the guitar. Since then, I've learned to tune the guitar and replace the strings myself – courtesy of YouTube. The guitar is really great and I play it everyday.
