2. Elixir 80/20 Bronze Nanoweb Acoustic Guitar Strings, Medium
Product Details:
Prolong your tone with the same acoustic guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available.unlike other string brands, elixir strings coats the whole string. this protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. anti-rust plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set.who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes? premium by design, these acoustic strings constructed with 80/20 (80% copper, 20% zinc) bronze wrap wire boast a crisp, bright tone with an expressive, vibrant presence. compared to elixir's original polyweb coating, the ultra-thin nanoweb coating allows a more traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel. for a slicker, gentler feel, try the original polyweb coating on their 80/20 bronze acoustic strings, which also feature a more robust and rounded tone. for more of a balance between bold and bright, elixir's phosphor bronze acoustic guitar strings with nanoweb coating deliver full-bodied tone and sparkling high-end clarity alongside the same traditional feel as these 80/20 bronze strings. of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. not sure what tone or feel is right for you? try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from elixir strings. for a more in-depth look at what makes our strings so special, scroll to the branded info further down the page.
Reviews:
This was a great price on my favorite strings. Shipping was very fast too. Unfortunately, "new" does not mean the same as"fresh" and I have now learned the difference. These do seem to be genuine Elixers, but a few problems which led to broken strings may indicate that these were either sitting on a shelf for a very long time or else exposed to moisture. Normally, brand new strings will be very springy when you first take them out of the sleeve. They generally will uncoil into a straight line, but every single one of these maintained a strong curl or twist in it. But that alone was not a problem for me. The strings installed normally and tuned well, but the tonal quality seemed a little sub-par compared to what I was used too. Still, it's possible I was just imagining that. The strings were fine for a month. Held there notes as well as any, and the tone was at least decent, though I still felt it was missing something. But after one month I had the B string break. I usually keep Elixer strings for 6 months before they finally lose their great tone and I replace them, and because I wind plenty of extra string around the posts, I haven't had a string break on me in over 8 years. Breaking one now pretty much confirmed my earlier suspicions. I went ahead and replaced all 6 strings with the next set, but 2 weeks later and the high E string broke on me. For now I'm borrowing the high E from the final set, but the first chance I get I will be replacing every string with a new, fresh set from a local music store. I don't think I'll buy strings online again because of this apparent problem of freshness.jaredlang85
These strings have been a lifesaver for me. My hands aren't acidic and I easily get a year from them before needing to restring. I use the same brand on my PRS electric, too. (10's). I gig weekly in our church worship band so I prefer a string that holds tone and these just deliver. Super product! I do prefer these over the 80/20 and any poly web version…for tone and I feel the poly version stifles string resonance too much.BradM
Long lasting, great sound. I went to my girlfriends sisters home for Xmas and a few guys got a some guitars out and we played some rock, country and bluegrass on Elixers strung on acoustic instruments. They claimed the strings were three years old. They sounded quite good for their age. After seeing a John Paul Jones interview where he said Elixers were all he used. I already used them but his opinion completely sold me. I even bought an Elixer tee shirt. I use them on all my guitars and mandolins. I won't settle for anything else. I just bought a FX5 that had Addario's on it. No pause, I replaced them with Elixers. Great sound. Long lasting. Stay good looking too. Buy multiple set bundles and save money.easymedicine1

Reviews:
I’m actually really glad that I’ve been given the opportunity to write this review… I recently had my main Breedlove acoustic looked at by our local tech here in Gibsland Jon, I have been trying different string types for about two months and couldn’t quite get the sound I’ve been chasing. I don’t use the other bright brand that cost a bit because it sheds and I find other things I don’t like about the big E John told me you’ve gotta have a go at these mate… After considerable pressure I brought a set and I still can’t believe how great my guitar sounds every time I play which is every day. The people I work with have all been saying to me that I sound great all of a sudden. So I’ve just found my absolute go to new set of strings. And I buy from Mannys out of principle, because I’m 62 and they’ve been around… Just like me ha ha hahMark M.
These coated strings are great for beginners, Not too harsh on your fingers while still producing quality sound.Jess, Stage Manager
I waited a few weeks before submitting this review because I wanted to see if these strings lived up to the promises. I have to say I am not disappointed. They sounded great (as you would expect) when I first restrung my guitar. However here I am, several weeks later and there is no noticeable deterioration in the sound quality, whatsoever. For the past year or so I have been using Ernie Ball Earthwood Phosphor Bronze which are excellent but these are better. Yes, at first glance, they seem expensive but given their longevity, they are a good buy.Mr T. J.

Reviews:
I've used D'Addario strings for a few years now and they do a pretty good job. I do a fair bit of de-tuning of the strings for different songs, and they generally aren't prone to snapping when de-tuned (although after a while this does become a risk – I've learned to put on a new set before gigs). Throughout the covid pandemic I had the same set on for nearly 2 years straight, and they lasted the whole time despite being played fairly regularly. This triple set of strings represents very good value for money in my book.
I've tried all kinds of strings on my Martin guitars. Used coated strings for a while thinking it would be smoother on my fingers and stop the squeal as they slide on the strings.. but that's not cool !!! I'm totally on natural strings ., no boatings., I feel the string more .. I realized I want that !!! I don't get the screech as my ginger slide on the strings except fir when/if I want it . Yep !! I bought several 3 packs of these EJ16's. Great sound and you have !! Go gif it !!Chuck
I have an acoustic archtop guitar, and found a long time ago that phosphor-bronze strings produce the best tone for my playing style and the instrument I use. I've used a different brand for a long time, but I thought I would give these D'Addario a try. I'm glad I did. These strings produce a nice warm tone, and take a lot of punishment. I have a pretty aggressive rhythm style, and have snapped a lot of strings in my time and had to buy a lot of extra G-strings (it's always the G-string), but these D'Addarios hold up well. I'm very happy with them. and they are around half the price for a 3 set pack of the brand I was previously using, which is why I decided to give them a try.Noah

These came installed on my new Epiphone J-45 and man do they sing. Nice bass response and they are not tinny sounding, got the just right acoustic sound. They are coated and to me they make it easier to play. As I haven't played them for that long I'll have to see how they hold up. One other reviewer gave them 3 stars but if you read the review, he was complaining about the shipping time and even said he hadn't tried them. I find it hard to believe that it was AMS's fault for the delay, they always ship super fast. We were (and still are) getting slammed by Covid and delivery times by carriers were way behind in September when that review was written.Greg 'Purple' Hays

Eenie ball everlast strings are amazing for 3 weeks than they start going dead very rapidly and the treatment they put on them starts getting your fingers and turn them green. I prefer the earthwood strings from ernie ball because honestly they last just as long but cost half as much.tyrw21
I'm obsessed with archtops but am simultaneously cheap when it comes to strings. I hate buying them like i hate paying for parking or a bottle of water. It just seems like one of those recurring costs i am not happy about. So the cheap side of me loves the longevity of coated strings. The OCD musician in me loves the sound of coated strings because they sound consistent from when you put them on until when they die. I've tried probably ever brand of coated string for 10+ years and Ernie Ball makes the best ones. The Everlast specifically sound fantastic right out of the package. The enamel they use makes the strings really smooth and slightly slick (in a good way). Since i play archtops string choice can really be make or break with a guitar. Bronze can start to sound really clangy. It used to be that i would have a certain brand with a certain guitar. The Everlast were the first strings that i can put on all of my acoustic archtops and they all have a sweet sound. So the Everlast don't have that brassy overtone that can be a little too much with archtops. I love picking up each of my guitars for 5 minutes throughout the day because i know they will sound fresh and have a sweet tone. Everlast are totally worth the money and you will be rewarded with tone and longevity.polishbroadcast

these strings are the best that i have ever used. i think they sound better then d'addarios, if only because they are warm as opposed to bright, which goes well with my alder guitar. mine lasted two months before breaking, and i couldn't detect a change in tone or tuning stability. and they're red! the only reason i gave a 9 on quality is that the coating wears off where it contacts the frets and where you pick after a month or so, but it doesn't affect anything but looks. too bad i didn't buy more.word.
Here you have one of the best strings you can get for the price you pay. One may think, oh since they are coated with color , the quality sucks. They were wrong, I've been using these strings for about 3 months now, not only do i get compliments on how good the strings look on my black Gibson Epiphone, but i also receive compliments on how good my tone is. There is only one problem i have with these strings. After playing with the strings all day, around the picking area of the strings they red coating comes off. If you think about it, No ones really looking at your picking hand anyway. Also DR includes a piece of paper that even tells you that the Coating comes off. Overall this product is a must buy for me anytime i need new strings.Michael
Put These on my Gibson Voodoo LP The red strings look great with it's Black and red finish. the tone is bright for coated strings. Only have had them a week so none of the coating has come off yet.Did a three hour jam session with my band Second Satuarday last weekend and they held tone very well. So far pleased and will purchase againSecond Saturday

This cloth is incredible. When you polish corroded valves and slides with it they look like new. I was amazed the first time I tried it on an old, beater horn that I was trying to clean up. The slides were stuck and upon getting them out and polishing them they were shined to a clean, raw brass finish. Be careful near the lacquer though, this cloth is strong!Steve The Brass Player

I've been using these strings for years. The 4 wound strings last at least twice as long as other un-coated strings I've used. The 1st and 2nd strings are not coated so I buy single strings to replace these as needed without replacing the whole step. Also, I replaced my strings a couple of weeks ago and wiped the 1st and 2nd strings with a lubricant called Tuf-Glide by Sentry Solutions for protection against corrosion from oils from my fingers. This stuff is designed for guns, knives, etc. Time will tell if it makes my guitar strings last longer. Anyway, buy these strings. I think you will like them.Jack-JGUBF
These strings are not cheap but still very good value. I've always liked the tonality of D'Addario strings and used them for many years. The EXP15s have the same tonality but last much, much longer. As someone who does not enjoy the string changing rigmarole, that's a bonus in itself. However, if you take the life of non-coated D'Addarios and compare it to these, these work out cheaper in the long run. Win, win – that's what I like!bluelemmy

I am quite happy with the Stringjoy Acoustic Strings and I'm still deciding which ones are my favorite. I recently put on the Foxwood and am now needing to record an "original guitar only song" with it on a direct track and a high end microphone track. Then I will do the same with the Naturals and also the Brights. At least I can then do a comparison but my suspicion is the I might prefer different strings for various purposes. Such being the case, I am not currently positioned to supply anyone with a FAVE RAVE!!!David F
Love these strings. I’ve had them on my Ibanez AC240 for just a couple weeks but I’m blown away! They started unremarkable (in the best sense of course) but have opened up to a nice, full, vibrant sound. They don’t feel coated, but they don’t feel fully natural either which I love. Best of both worlds! I’ve been using your string cleaner with them as well and I’m convinced these will last a good long while before needed a swap out. Going to put these on a couple other guitars as well! Thanks guys! You rocked the park with these!Garrett G
I bought both coated and uncoated versions of the Stringjoy acoustic strings in regular medium light. I now have these on 3 different guitars and plan on installing on 2 more. Have to say I don’t know how you do it but the tension on these strings seems different than anything else I’ve ever used. They just seem “comfortable†and sound fantastic. They’re pricey but worth it. Only con I can think of is they’re a bit noisy when sliding but I’m sure I’ll get used to that.David M

Initially received defective product (G string was dead). DR sent a replacement quickly. First impression was these strings were mid-heavy, not my style at all. With a few knob tweaks was able to make them sound really good. I love the look on people's face at the gig trying to figure out how something that looks this way sounds just like non coated strings! They look great, sound great, and they're a fantastic conversation starter on breaks! Will Hurtubad

Great product…well worth the tripCAROLYN
I saw these on sale, 2 for 1, and had wanted a set when they first came out, but didn't want to pay the price. I wanted them because I like things different sometimes, and I always wanted a set of the neons–but not all one color. They're touted as a learning aide or a teaching aide, but that is not why I got them. I bought them because, for one, they're DR–who has a reputation for great strings (and is one of my preferred), but also because I like the color display. I'm sure they'll be great for those who want to teach/learn, but for me it's about the cool color on my favorite brand of strings. We'll see if the attraction grows old for me, but for now I love this. They're on my Martin. Even though I would recommend them, not sure how others who are experienced players (not teachers) would like this…it's personal taste.
I can not give a review because they sent me Dr acoustic phosphor bronze dragon skin strings instead …bdebr2437-jfpaaorj

I'm on my 2nd set of these strings and I love them! I've used many different brands and I always come back to D' Addario. These wires are tough, clean sounding, corrosive resistant and last a very long time. I play outdoors in the heat and sweat a lot. They last and last even through all the sweating. I highly recommend the xs strings!Gonzo 57
Having been a long-time user of Elixer acoustic strings, I was afforded the opportunity to try D'Addario XS Acoustic coated strings. After restringing my vintaged Harmony Stella baritone, best midrange tone guitar I own. Tuned her, after a little stretch time fine-tuned her. First strum my ears were amazed! The tonal range of these strings, warm, bright, full bodied, this guitar has never sounded so good, I can only imagine how incredible they will sound on the Taylor! Before I forget to mention, playability is awesome! Good job D'ddario, you've hit a grand slam!!!!!Jason
I'm an experienced guitar player and have used many different strings on my Martins and Collings Guitars. In latter years I have migrated to using treated or coated strings, specifically the Martin Authentic Acoustic Lifespans and Elixir Nanoweb Phosphor Bronze in medium gauge. Both are excellent strings and I would recommend either for sound, durability and playability. After using two sets of the D'addario XS Medium Phosphor Bronze strings, I believe that they are even better than the Martin and Elixir strings. Sound on my dreadnoughts is deep and full in the bass notes, clear in the minds and with lovely singing trebles rich with overtones. String feel on the fingers is very, very slightly slicker than the Martin AA Lifespan treated string, and definitely less slick that the Elixirs (which can feel sometimes a tiny bit too slick). Durability is outstanding and the strings look good and last nearly as long as the Elixirs and longer than the Martins. All three are fine strings and I use all three, but I believe that the new D'addario XS mediums are the best of the lot and recommend them without hesitation.Jeff

Reviews:
I've used the regular Ernie Ball Regular Slinkys for years. I have extremely sweaty/acidic hands, so I wear down strings extremely quickly. Sometimes if I play enough, I can wear the non-coated ones out in a couple days. I use Elixirs on my acoustic, but their electric strings aren't great. When I saw these coated EBs came out, I was stoked. They play the same as the non-coated, but for me, I could hardly tell they lasted any longer. If I go through normal strings in two weeks, these should have lasted about six weeks. They only lasted about three. They're fine strings, but you might as well save your money and get the non-coated ones, since they play the same.Clay
Been a Slinky user for years. Tried some of the other coated but didn't bond. Had some DR string packs and tried but was breaking E and B strings. Put these bad babies on and once again WOW. They have the nice somoith feel but not the heavy coated feel. Tone is bright but even with super overtones and sustain. Tried on my Strat and Tele will be putting on ES347. Wish there was a pure nickel wrap for the Fenders. The brighter tone should really sing on the Gibby.
These are great strings. I won't rave about them simply because I'm still more impressed by elixers. These are the second best set of strings ive ever tried. I have been using elixir since they came out in 2005-ish, but i keep an open mind and always try new thing. Tonally, the slinkies have SLIGHTLY more noticeable bite to them. This is probably because the elixirs are coated which might dull down the sound by that little. However, the main weakness of the slinkies is that the tension dies down VERY QUICKLY (less than a month), whereas that does not happen as fast with elixirs. When the tension starts dying, your intonation goes out of whack, and you're always playing out of tune no matter how much you adjust the tuning or intonation itself.Your only remaining option is to replace the string, which defeats the purpose of anti-rusting and long life strings. The tension has a much longer life on the elixir strings which is why they remain my favorite so far. Mechanically and physically, elixirs are closer to an "ideal string," despite the Slinky's slight tonal improvement. It lives up to its anti-rust claims, but like i mentioned, they dont have a "long life" since the tension fades quickly. However, none of the strings broke and i do play a lot of downstroke thrash metal rhythm which is very abusive to the strings. Acceptable–You get what you pay for, I never use cheap strings. (Like i said, elixers for years now)OJ
19. Elixir Nanoweb Light Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings
Product Details:
Not all guitar strings are created equal. even after just a few hours of play, dirt, sweat, skin oils and other debris will build up between the string's windings, causing corrosion in the metal. the result is a noticeable "deadening" of the string's tonal quality, which can happen very quickly with uncoated strings. elixir phosphor bronze strings begin with anti-rust plated plain steel strings that are corrosion resistant. they provide a clean feel and bright, vibrant tone. both the steel core and its phosphor bronze winding are then treated with elixir's patented nanoweb thin polymer coating that completely envelops the entire string. this results in a long-lasting, rich tone with more audible high-frequency harmonics. the ultra-thin nanoweb gives you the natural feel of untreated strings without sacrificing that important protection. this revolutionary product is a great value, as it means a dynamic and lively sound with less frequent string changes and fewer string purchases.

I am an amateur player and have always used Elexir Phosphor Bronze Nanoweb strings, different gauges, on my 6 string acoustics in the past. However, I recently bought a second hand Luna travel guitar which needed a string change, and I looked up which strings it was likely to have come with from the factory – and the consensus was it was probably Daddario’s previous version of these. I decided to try this new version as they were very well reviewed online by professionals. To quote, and I would agree with all of it – rich and balanced, don’t need breaking in, coated but don’t sound it, bend like electric and good projection. I am particularly pleased with the projection, they make my small guitar sound very loud indeed for the size. I am so pleased with them that as the strings on my other guitars need replacing, I will get these Daddario XS.Linda W.

These D'AThe Daddario XSAPB1253 Acoustic Phosphor Bronze, Light, 12-53 are some of the best sounding acoustic strings I've come across. They are thin and light and clear and enjoyable to play with. They produce a mellow sound yet can create the volume I like. So far I am really liking these. I especially like the bright tones. Also the coating, although light, makes a big difference in the smoothness. I recommend these strings.1100
