Best Battery Powered Acoustic Guitar Amp (Jan 2023 Update)

I purchased the Loudbox Mini Charge to use in small settings as a solo fingerstyle acoustic guitarist. So far I've found very little I don't like about this amp. It has great volume and tone for its size … it really sounds wonderfully articulate despite the fact it simply can't match the headroom of larger, more powerful units. Then again, it's designed for small venues. The reverb and chorus settings are well-executed and pleasant sounding and the three band eq is responsive. Bluetooth is easy to pair and use making this a potential boon at deck and tailgate events. If I had to list negatives my first gripe would be that the channel two input is XLR only. It would have been nice to see a combination jack here for times when players want to use a second instrument input. However, a passive DI box will solve that issue. The other missing feature is an anti-feedback circuit. There is a phase switch but the lack of a true auto-notch on an amp in this price range seems strange. Finally, the on-board battery makes this unit heavier than it looks. It easily outweighs a Fender Acoustasonic 90 even though the Fender is physically twice its size. Those issues aside, the Loudbox Mini Charge is a great performing little amp with the bonus of being battery powered when needed. I'm definitely a fan.GS

So far I've just practiced with it at home and the sound is superb, especially the low end being very present and not muddy. Big bonus for me is I can easily carry it in one hand and guitar in the other so no need for multiple trips. Another reason I got it is for my outdoor gigs where access to electricity can be iffy. Sound: My head mic uses low gain, my processor takes care of guitar EQ. I just wanted clean sound, this does that Features: The mobile cube has voicings for acoustic, electric, lead , piano. They all enhance that sound. Ease of Use: Plug and play, we tend to have more mellow genres, not rock. Quality: Weve had these 3 years, flawless Value: I'd buy this,if it,was twice as much Manufacturer Support: I have many Roland products, all superb The Wow Factor: Good for busking, corner acts, backing tracks any live sound or frequently it's a personal monitor on bigger gigs. Overall: We have two of these, my wife plays a stereo patch with her keyboard, and I stereo patch into mine with an acoustic processor. Then we both use head mics directly in, hang the two amps from the carry straps on the front of her keyboard X stand. BottaBoom, BottaBang, it satisfies city ordinances of battery power, let's us take care of groups over one hundred people. I can carry my whole rig on a scooter, not get all jammed up with out of bounds parking. Works great on electric too!Eric

Pairs nicely with Epiphone Masterbilt acoustic-electric. I bought this to be heard at a small local bar where I occasionally play in a wood-paneled alcove that absorbs sound. This amp is highly portable and is adequate for a living room party or for the small audience I bought this for. The sound seems fine even cranked up, which isn't going to make the walls shake but loud enough to annoy the neighbors if you play late at night. It is sensitive enough to play at low volume in your bedroom and has a headphone jack. I play a variety of styles, flatpicking and finger-style, and am able to hear the effect of playing with the ridges of my fingerprints. (Not really a performance technique, but a gauge of how much sonic detail gets reproduced.) Not a gigging amp, it is good for when you want a small, battery-operated way to boost your sound. The reverb is a nice feature. The chorus is a heavy effect with no way to adjust it and I probably won't use it much. The "Wide" button seems to change the direction of the sound, but I haven't played with it enough to know how to take advantage of that feature. Optimized for acoustic guitar, I've played my Les Paul and D'Angelico hollowbody through it with fine results, obviously playing clean. I commented that this amp has good warmth, but I want to qualify that by saying it has good warmth for a low-powered amp with small speakers. Trebles are emphasized and lows are not prominent; still the sound reproduction seems faithful and not at all tinny. It sounds good. I am happy with my purchase and will keep this amp.c.z.fixx

Is this going to be a cheap plastic box with some tinny sounding little speakers? All the positive reviews must be over rated. I noticed the shipping box was kind of on the heavier side. The little amp is kinda heavy. The sound and tone is really nice. The weight must be in the speakers. I also have the Roland 5 watt Cube Street. Other than the Street has bigger speakers the quality of sound out of the AC is all as good and can get loud. The EQ tone knob does a lot more than expected. The chorus is either on or off. A bit much but useable. The reverb is nice nothing weird. Reverbs all the channels at once. I plugged in a mic into the vocal channel and only did a few words. It seems it would be fine. I plugged in my phone and tried the aux input. Nice. The stereo button works very noticeable. I can see using this easily at outdoor low volume gigs. Farmers markets, busking, acoustic jams, and even quiet coffee house set ups. Overall I really like the portability and the nice sounds out of it for a little package. I mainly wanted it for my lap steel guitars where I just need a decent reverb. It works perfectly.AZ Busker

I played with a Fishman SA220 Solo Amp for years, so I knew going in that the sound quality was going to be awesome with the Loudbox Mini. But nothing prepared me for just how good the sound would be. It really took me by surprise. As with any amp, you have to take some time to get the EQ settings right for the guitar you're playing, but the super-response 3-band EQ makes it incredibly easy to dial in your sound. I played a gig over the weekend and used my Taylor T5z and Gibson J-45 Avant Garde with the amp. They both sounded incredible through the amp! I was so jazzed. For that gig, I used the amp mainly as a reference monitor that I plugged into the FOH. It worked perfectly in that application. But truth be told, the amp really doesn't come into its own until the speaker's pushing some air. While it sounds great at lower volumes, there's something special that happens at higher volumes that's a little hard to articulate. There's a depth to the sound that isn't apparent at lower volumes, and you really don't get the full effect of the onboard reverb and chorus until you start pushing air. So I actually upped my stage volume a bit so I could hear/feel that effect. 🙂 Truth be told, I haven't used a microphone with it, but based on my experience with the SA220 and the general quality of the sound from my guitars, I have no doubt that this will be a great performer for vocals as well! What's really cool is that each channel has its own EQ and individual reverb. These are musts for a solo performance amp as far as I'm concerned. All that said, combine that great sound with incredible portability (it's about the size of a truck battery), and you've got a winner! But let's be honest here, it's not an AER. The bass response is not nearly as good as on those units. But it's close; close enough that if you're plugged into a FOH or DAW, you can compensate for the lower bass on the EQ panel of the mixer. It's also a fraction of the price of an AER. The value proposition of the Loudbox Mini far exceeds what it may lack in terms of sound quality as compared to a high-end system. Finally, what I love about having this unit is that for solo gigs, I now have options. I can use this unit for small cafe or private residential parties, then use my JBL Eon One for larger venues. A great mini amp suited to acoustic guitars for private use applications in living rooms or bedrooms. The sound quality is very crisp and clear. There is a choice of microphone emulation to simulate mic-ing up your acoustic guitar. The signal from this mini amp can be fed into a PA or a mixing desk using the Phones output socket. This amp is not really suitable for rock electric guitar sounds like crunch and distortion. The Yamaha THR5 is more suitable for this purpose.Danny

I have looked at the Yamaha THR line of amps many times in various retail shops. Finally saw one on MF in open box condition. Thought, "What the heck." Looks and functions as new. I bought the THR5A to use with my acoustic-electrics. I wanted a small portable amp with good effects for small venues and home practice. For me, a solo singer song writer playing originals, this little amp is a true gem. I use it for effects support in stereo, the other line run through my 40 watt Fender Acoustasonic. For years I have used the durable Acoustasonic as my PA, monitor, and for my vocals, and my Boss RC3 Looper. The THR5A is used simply to tweak the sound of the guitar. The effects are very nice, lots of range to dial in. The modeled Mics offer enough variety to cover the 3 different AE guitars I use. (Carvin AC175, Carvin AE185, Huss and Dalton CM). I can even use my OCD pedal through the THR5A for playing blues leads over the Loops. I would recommend this amp to any player of AE guitars because the sound quality out of this small inexpensive amp is truly amazing. But remember young squires, the THR5A is a very low watt amp with tiny speakers, so do not expect it to support you in a setting of more than 15-20 attentive listeners!Surflad

Before I review, I would like to say I am reviewing this product from a perspective as a gigging instrumental acoustic guitarist. Had to do an outdoor gig with no electric outlets available, that's when i looked into buying this thing, and it did the trick. Also had to fly somewhere across the country to do a gig where the venue didn't have a PA system, and I was able to pack this in my luggage, and this little thing did the job. For a tiny amp only a bit bigger than a Kleanax box, this thing is plenty loud. It's able to emmenate the volume to within about a 500 square feet coverage. Even louder if you play a distored electric guitar, as electric gutiar pickups don't consume as much power as an acoustic pickup. This is the perfect amp if you travel alot and need to fit something on the plane, for your living room, as a practice amp, for porch picking, camping, small coffeehouse venues (under 500 square feet), busking, or any scenario where there's no electric outlet nearby. Granted, this small little thing will not replace a PA system or something like an Acoustasonic Jr. I do a weekly coffeehouse gig (about 500 square feet) with my Fender Acoustasonic JR, and one day, my Acoustasonic JR wasn't working, so I brought in this little Roland instead. Granted, it was loud enough to fill up the whole entire coffeehouse volumewise, and although I much prefer to gig with this as it's super lightweight and won't hurt my back like the Acoustasonic JR, the sound didn't have the full definition as the Acoustasonic JR, or a real PA. Because of the tiny speakers, you only get treble, no bass response, less definition overall. However, as a portable battery-powered amp, this thing is awesome. It also serves mutiple purposes, I regularily plug my ipod to this and use it as a home stero system in my room.sman-eNpbJ

Bought the Roland MC over 10 years ago. I still own it and thought a review might help someone shopping for an amp. In my opinion, the Roland MC is a great solo or small group, highly portable, extremely low watt, practice session amp. For electric guitar, it sounds great clean with a tough of reverb, but don't expect much bass or volume. IMO, the Overdrive setting is just OK, and the Distortion/Fuzz is terrible. Before I forget, buy the AC power adaptor as battery life is very limited, especially at anything but the lowest volume settings. For the built-in effects, the chorus button works fine for the simplest applications, along with the somewhat adjustable delay, but there are lots of limitations. Consider them a nice "toy" feature of the amp, nothing more. As a PA, I found the Roland MC very useful, and used it for years with my acoustic-based, rock band as a single mike PA during our quieter practice sessions. It provided just enough amplification for lead vocals to cut through 2 guitars and an electric bass playing at low to medium practice volume levels. However, as soon as we added a drummer, it was over for the little MC. As far as battery use, I font recommend it. I tried it once on Halloween dressed as Brett Michaels playing "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" on acoustic-electric. Terrible performance. People started singing along and a friend turned up the volume…the amp had no dynamic range and actually get LESS loud the harder I strummed the guitar. The ultra low wattage of the amp severely limits its usefulness in performance scenarios. My son took the amp to college and he uses it in his dorm room where noise levels must be kept low but prefers practicing with a Scarlett USB interface and headphones and is looking for an amp with more power. OK, I purchased this amp because of it's DC power, mic and instrument channels and small size. I'll use it for busking or jamming, anywhere I want without thinking about an AC outlet. I did purchase the AC adapter which came in very handy initially, given the batteries it came with were so weak the amp would not work properly. At first I thought the amp was malfunctioning. Strange things happen when battery juice is low. In my case there was sound break up, like there was short or bad connection. With AC power or a fresh set of batteries, it works well. If small and portable is your thing and you want mic and instrument inputs, this might be just what you are looking for. I've sure had fun with mine. So far, good. As I said in the review above, don't expect a really full sound with low end bass. All things considered, if you do not need the DC power option, I would see no reason to purchase this amp.More harmonica, please

Have the Spark 40 and am very happy with it. The Mini, not so much. Biggest issue is that it is much to easy to overdrive the speakers, especially the bass. It is not very loud. It's OK for a small quiet room, but I really can't use it outdoors on the patio. It works best sitting on a reflective surface like a table. You don't want the bottom mount bass speaker facing, say, a rug. I love the iPhone / iPad app. It has a good variety of amps and pedals, but you really can't get the same sound as a tube amp like my Blues Jr IV. While it has a variety of reverb pedals, it does not have spring reverb. A big disappointment. I really like that it is battery powered, usb chargeable and really like the Bluetooth speaker function.Dave

I fell in love with the capability of the PG Spark 40 and I had to have this mini for it's portability! I pre-ordered mine direct from Positive Grid when they were running their pre-production discounts. I've been playing on and off for about 30 years. I wish this was available then instead of that clunky, weak Squire 15 amp I started with. The app for Android and iPhone opens up all kinds of possibilities! A starting musician and use the features to play along to their favorite songs or you can look up backing tracks to tinker along with. The standard hardware sounds are very warm, and the tone cloud gives you access to an unfathomable amount of tones modeled after near all of your favorite artists! It is more than enough to appeal to the budding guitarist to keep you interested! And for more experienced players, the options that are part of this thing are incredible, and will have you noodling with your Sunday morning coffee before you know it! Got the PG Spark 40, ABSOLUTELY had to get the Mini! If you're on the fence, you won't be disappointed!Dave

The sound and tone quality from such a small amp is amazing! It sounds huge. You will quickly forget you are playing through a 6 inch cube. There are a bunch of amps and effects to create your own sound, and the Smart Jam and play along features are both fun and inspiring. Plus, the various tones in the ToneCloud are great for matching a tone to a song you are learning to play. Believe the hype from the reviews online. I will say that this is amp may not be for everyone. At 10 watts, it is not loud enough to gig with. Plus, I would not recommend this for a first amp. There are a lot of options that can be overwhelming for beginners, and the limited on-board options do not allow for simple plug and play. Beginners may want to start with something like a Black Star ID Code. There are also a few things I am not crazy about. Because of the limited on-board controls, 6 to 8 presets would have been better, plus the default presets are not that good. The amp models in the app are OK, but some sound too similar, plus each amp has the same knobs (Gain, Bass, Middle, High and Volume). Nothing to distinguish one amp model from another (Channels, Presence knob, Intensity knob, etc.). The same goes for the reverb pedals (each has 6 knobs whether or not the pedal being replicated has 6 options). The Vox Tone room has better amp and effect modeling but does not have all of the other jamming and recording options. So all of that being said, this amp is still fantastic for someone with some knowledge of amps (for example, the difference between gain and volume) and is looking for something small and discrete to play around the house (or apartment) that does not want to sacrifice tone quality. The battery power is nice for playing anywhere without having to plug it in. I've played mine for a couple hours without having to recharge. It is also a great option if you want to record your work. All in all, this is an innovative amp that is just fun to play, has a ton of options and sounds way too good for its size. Get one, you'll love it!Dan

It seems that Fender makes an amp for every use, want and need, and this one satisfies on numerous levels. I'm setting up a studio in my one car garage/mancave, I've already warned my neighbors, who so far seem amenable, and I have placed a Marshal MG15 series DFX (a gift from a friend) and now this Fender Acoustasonic 40 which can get quite loud for the space involved. The Fender is, so far, strictly for practice and the fact that I can add a mic is both impressive and very handy in such a small and handy amp. I brought it home only last week and have explored several tonal settings and, having just scratched the surface, I can't wait to see what else it can do. And it is, so far, obviously perfect for small venues. So, as it happens, it seems I'm more than a bit of a Fender fan. In 2006 I bought a Fender Sunburst Stratocaster (a primary must have guitar.) and a Blues Jr. amp; and then a few years later, I added a Butterscotch Blond Telecaster (a longtime dream realized) and eventually, a Fender 200, 200W acoustic amp to complement my Taylor 614ce for in house use [all bought through Guitar Center with the help of Nick], (Neither of which have made it to the man cave. Yet.) So, do your due diligence, read the reviews, go to Guitar center and ask to try one out, and if they don't have one on site, I'm sure that, if they have a manager as good as Nick Giordano at the store in Murrieta, Ca., they will order one for your trial pleasure and you won't be sorry.Dave

Love this little amp! I got this amp a couple of weeks ago at my local Guitar Center in Memphis. I went in looking for this amp and actually got it for half the price that they had on it. Nice little amp that really sounds great using my Gibson Hummingbird thru it.Sean

The Fender Acoustasonic 40 40W 2×6.5 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier is a wonderfully portable and good sounding acoustic amp. I tested the Fender Acoustasonic 15 15W 1×6 and I thought it had a good sound but I didn't want the Chorus effect I wanted the Reverb effect and the 40 had reverb. It cost more to get the 40 over the 15 but I got the reverb, more power, and a nice tone for the price. Except for the reverb the 40 s a bare bones no frills amp and that's what I wanted. By the way It is just as portable as the 15. The quality of the amp is realized as soon as you open the box. It is well-built and quite attractive. It has a big sound for such a small package. I plugged my Taylor 714 Nylon into it and set the Amp EQ knobs flat. I adjusted the volume on the amp. The EQ knobs on the Taylor were flat with half volume. I played a bit then adjusted the EQ on the guitar. When that sounded good I flavored that tone with a bit of reverb and that was good enough to get me through the afternoon. I have other settings for different songs or environments but this was a good place to start. I plugged a microphone in and that is a separate channel that requires its own EQ. There is no balance control except your ear. It also works well when you plug in other devices for backing tracks, etc. Overall, a great amp for a reasonable price.Bart

The good: small, portable, can run off batteries. The wireless connectivity is really nice. Sounds decent for what it is. The bad: The interface on the unit itself and the app are confusing to say the least, and you are pretty limited in the use of effects. The ugly: all those free Katana patches being posted on the Boss site? Incompatible. All the patches for regular Boss Katana amps WILL NOT WORK on this unit. Thanks for that Boss.Alexander

Overall: I may be mis-reading the manual but I've yet to figure out how to keep the wireless transmitter charged. I'm not new at this having gotten Line 6's wireless transmitters when they first arrived on the scene. They were easy to use and worked as advertised. While I am a huge Roland/Boss fan, I'm thinking they may have missed the mark in the "ease of use" category on the Katana Air. From a sound perspective, the amp, when plugged into a wall socket sounds great; just what you'd expect from a Katana amp. And when the transmitter is fully charged, the same can be expected. The problem arises when trying to figure out how to keep it charged. When running the amp on batteries only, this seems this seems to be problematic in that the amp stops charging the transmitter when the batteries are low. The problem is you don't know the transmitter is dead until you try and use it.My most predictable approach is to plug in the amp with the provided DC cable and do my charging while the amp is "hard-wired" to the juice coming from a wall socket.Once the transmitter is fully charged, in this manner, I can disconnect the amp and run it on a fresh set of batteries. This will afford you a "temporary" wireless operation. The transmitter that I received didn't have any where's near the claimed lifespan. I'd be curious to see how other's experience with the Katana Air played out. I will keep fiddling with the KA and if I discover what it takes to make it truly wireless, I'll get back to you in a follow up review. Strangely I did keep this item, hoping for a downloadable software cure.There is a nice free ap that accompanies the KA…..It allows you to change all of the amp's audio settings and to download free patch sets. This works well with my iPhone 7+.Martin

I've been seeking a modern, portable, reliable practice amp that can satisfy BOTH Acoustic and Electric guitars since Line 6 introduced their Amplifi series. I loved the Amplifi's techie saturated concept but no matter how bad I wanted it to work… it was always a low-fidelity 'noise' amp first without the ability to produce clear, hi-fidelity sound for either my acoustic or classical guitars. Designing an amp that can accurately reproduce hi-fidelity, low distortion sound begins with a good designed, quality build and above average components. As the old proverb states, "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear", you can build a noisy amp but don't ever expect it to reproduce quality sound. Amplifi is the sow's ear. I thought about testing their newer Amplifi 30 but after many bad experiences testing a 75 and reading that I was not alone … I lost all confidence that they could do HiFi right. The Katana Air checks many of my must-have boxes and it worked without a hitch. It was designed as a small practice amp and not a single solution for all your gigging needs. Adding in the convenience features like smart-on and multiple wireless features that include power/updating/tuning/modeling/backing tracks/guitar, makes this the practice amp I have been waiting a long timefor. Finally, I can take an amp sailing without worry of 'butt cleats' or adding more hazardous lines to my boat.pete1tod

What an awesome little amp! And plug the line outs into something bigger and you can well and truly deafen yourself with sonic pleasure. Pretty straight forward to use but you do need to watch your levels when changing amp models – they can vary a lot. Longer battery life would be a bonus and I'll def need a little bag for it. When I buy something that does so much but I don't need to read any manuals to operate it I know I've made the right choice. Sounds are fantastic, my favourite amp so far is the boutique, it feels very natural, not boomy like my previous desktop type amp. The effects are great, particularly the reverbs. I find myself taking it out of our little 'work from home office' while my wife or the kids are in there and noodling in the living room or the kitchen with it because I haven't had to faff around with power cables 🙂 It has a flat setting so I use that when I'm playing around with modeller settings for gigs rather than dragging out my powercab at home. The app is really easy to use and opens up a nice compressor plus cab options etc. The clincher for me over the smaller units is the 1/4 inch line outs, I can chuck it in the car and it's there as a back up incase my gigging amp packs up. I'm no bass player but I play a bit at home and this sounds way better than going into a guitar amp or using a bass amp on amplitube on my pc. This is easily the best music purchase I've made in recent years and I'm playing more music because of it 🙂Archie W.

I have a Marshall 1974x that I have not touched since I bought this THR30II. There is no real comparison but this Yamaha is so addictive. Clean tones are superb the crunch channel in classic mode is a my fave. The onboard effects are really good. I just shelled out e few Bob on a thorny flanger and this has a perfectly good flanger built in. The hall reverb is beyond good. In summary rock tones are good but cleans/crunch are fantastic. I trusted other reviews of this amp against things like positive grid/katana etc but this just hits the spot. I love playing the slow Peter Green blues stuff it’s perfect. It’s not a one trick pony it has loads of nice tones perfect for home use at friendly volumes than the Marshall 18 watt. Highly recommend.HappyYammyTHR p.

Wasn't sure about this little guy – – but the one I received was in pristine shape, with power brick and carry handle. I power it with 6 rechargeable AA Lithium batteries – and it'll run x 6 hours easy without recharging. I play an acoustic guitar (i installed a Fishman rare earth pickup) in a small orchestra with a piano, trumpets, trombones, saxophones, etc, and only need to run at about 35% max volume to blend in well with the group. The effects are great and well modeled. I'm very happy with this Roland – Highly Recommended.oxydoc

I've taken up giving lessons in my home and, in other locations and, dragging around even a moderate size amp was not in my plans. I did some shopping and, came up with the Micro Cube as my answer, WOW what a feature filled little powerhouse! I debated going to just a plain small practice amp but, after I tried one it reminded me of trying to play through an old transistor radio. Very bland boring sound and, only a push button to get an overdrive sound that sounded pretty bad. This Roland unit sounds Fantastic at 3w and, with only a 5" speaker, I don't know how they do it but, it's Great!! The convenience of battery power is something that I really enjoy also. Take it anywhere! The FX sound Super, amp models are a nice touch and, even a tuner. The 1/8" input is a nice touch to jam with backing tracks or any type of sounds. Taking this to lessons is sooo much more handier than a 30lb. amp. There is only a tone control but, it is really all you need to get the sound you want. The memory function is a handy feature so save preset sounds for each amp model. The only thing I haven't tried is to plug a Mic in and, check it out but, I definately will and, I'm betting that the results will be positive there also. I'm soooo glad I spent the extra dinero and, went with this amp. I'm very satisfied and, definately recommend this anyone looking for small portable amp for practice or any other reason to have a light weight amp that sounds really good. I don't think that I would run a bass through it but, at low volume I wouldn't be surprised that it could handle it. I play a lot of different instruments, fiddle,mandolin,ulelele and, harmonica and, going to try them all in this amp.terrygh

In general this is a great little amp. It is loud, but its frequency range is narrow. I would expect something so small to be weak on bass, but I am surprised at how poor the high frequency is. I have to turn the tone all the way up to make it sound like a regular amp. I will try different speakers and the line out into a different amp to see if the poor high end is either the speaker or amp. The headphone output sounds much better, so I believe the issue is not in the internal electronics. In general I would recommend this amp. So much that I am buying another to give to my son in college as a dorm amp. He is interested in the headphone feature, which sounds very good. As a practice amp this little thing does a great job. The effects are better on some settings than others. but I think there are more effects on this amp than other brands. The portability is great. The battery life it pretty good for how loud it is. With the line input you can not only play along to songs, unaffected by the guitar effects, but it turns your phone into a loud jam box. There is a lot of loud "bang for the buck" in the little amp.Dowacky

I have owned this amp for about 5 years and I have done over 500+ gigs with it easily. I have other similar products that I use depending on the size of the venue but this is usually the one I go to first because it sounds the best. Most amps with seperate tweeters are artificially brittle and not very flattering to piezo pickups. The AC-33 is crisp and full but not brittle!. The looper is brilliant! The batteries last a long time but you get better headroom when you use the veary hearty AC adapter. The Feedback reduction is also very effective and does not kill the tone as some do. I use this amp constantly, it is a gig workhorse. For larger venues, it works well as a monitor and a line can be sent to the mains so it acts as a mixer on stage. The only thing I am not crazy about is the vocal mic input but it is good also, just not brilliant. You really need to crank the gain on the vocal channel to get the signal because it is a multi use input and padded for versatility. No points off for that. The build quality is Typical Roland- the best you can find. I would replace this in a second if it broke but it does not seem it ever will. It is worth every penny of the price, so buy it. Oh, BTW- I think of the series of AC amps, the 33 is the most natural sounding, not boomy and not brittle. It is GREAT for nylon string and other acoustic instruments also. I am surprised how much I like this amp. I play it with a jazz archtop (a Gibson ES-175). Needed something for small gigs at restaurants and parties. I've tried a number of smaller solid state amps made for acoustic guitar. Most of them either sound boxy, or they color the guitar's sound ever so slightly. The biggest PROS: this amp delivers a very accurate representation of your instrument's acoustic voice when played without effects. It is the nicest sounding, most uncolored amplification I've found yet in an amp this size. Professional performance quality at low volumes. Also good, the battery performance. It really does go forever on 8 AA's. Get yourself an 8 bank charger and 16 rechargeable and you will never use the AC power supply. I forgot where mine is. The proprietary battery housing in the back of the amp is completely ingenious and impressively robust. Final big pro: exceptionally light weight. What a luxury. Now the CONS: Not loud enough for a gig with a drummer, unless he's playing brushes only. There are some battery amps out there by Crate and Roland that are louder, but they have a harder, more high-gain sort of sound better suited to a solid body electric. So you will also need a heavier amp that requires wall power for times you play with a drummer (if you want your guitar to be audible and still convey its clean, natural voice).mulho-james

I was in need of an acoustical amp while my family and I dry camped out in the wilderness. The battery function really brought my home studio and guitars along to write incredible nature love songs. Phil Keaggy's success with looping effects has taught me to bring my solo performances to greater heights. The Roland AC-33RW acoustic amp allows incredible similar accrued sounds and short structured recorded accompanying musical bars recorded to be played alongside with the musician's live talent. Powerful little amp with a bunch of onboard effects including a 90 second looper (Note the product descriptions say 60 seconds on most major retail sites) however it can do 90 seconds and layer on as much as you like. My Gibson J-45 sounds beautiful out of this amp and with an LR Baggs pre-amp pedal I am below 1/4 volume and that's enough to fill a large living room full of sound. The bluetooth functionality works great and sounds really good. It does miss a bit on the low end when playing music from an iPhone, but that was expected. The effects are great, tone is spot on. Only wish for me is that you could blend reverb and chorus but you can only mix delay/chorus and delay/reverb. Not a big deal. For an affordable, great clean sounding amp with some nice effects you can't go wrong with this. I put it up against a Fishman Loudbox mini and went home with this one.Randall K

I bought this little guy about 2 weeks ago and am really happy that I did. I am constantly tweaking my sound in search of just the right sound. This one gets me there for the most part. The clarity and depth of the low end was a great surprise. I am a solo acoustic performer for the most part occasionally branching out to duos and trios. I have a ton of gear but also seem to struggle getting just the right sound mainly because everywhere I play is different. This little guy is a great solution for small rooms or quiet settings. It's also a pretty good solution for larger louder gigs due to its line out options. I can go straight into the back of my different line array speakers and get a bigger beautiful tone that fills the room nicely. The FX are great and very easy to dial in. I also bought the 4 button foot pedal which makes the looping seamless. Vocals through this amp are clear and have the same options for quality fx. I tried several acoustic amps, but this one did it for me. It's also very light weight and even has a small integrated kickstand which is pretty cool. Very glad I bought this, it makes practicing a pleasure as well due to the sound quality. My acoustic guitars come to life and my semi hollow PRS sounds beautiful through it as well.Jaxon

This could be one of Line 6's most awesome products to date. I needed a good practice amp for in-home jamming and lessons I could take with on the go. I wasn't expecting much from the built in settings, but there are 5 amp models (including acoustic), basic effects and even a distortion pedal noise gate and tuner LED integrated. The headphone jack and guitar, aux and input are useful as well. Probably the best feature is the battery powered option which allows you to go mobile for jamming in the park or just not dealing with being plugged into the wall. Some downfalls however include some need to roll back the sound channel when switching models (followed by a pop sound), and a few other minor things. Some people complain about Line 6 sometimes stoic amp models, but they work here because its a small form factor, inexpensive and the expectation isn't much. I only briefly checked out the portable amp models market, but this is got to be a great amp for starters or even serious players that want to improve or have some portability.JZman

The Micro Spider III is my first amp and was just lucky that this was the practice/portable amp sold at the guitar store that sold me an Epi Special II guitar a year ago, because one week later I was starting an intro guitar class with a dozen acoustics and (not knowing what I was doing) it only took me minutes with the acoustical setting to dial in a comparable sound! Within 2 months, I bought a MIM Strat and now with these three items I can play just about any sound from Buddy Holly to blues, to surf, to Jimi, to Black Sabbath!!!!!!! With settings from clean to metal, crunch, and insane and 3 adjustable modulations and 3 adjustable ambiance effects, not to mention all 3 EQ knobs, I'm still finding new sounds and I practice up to 4 hours per day! I crank it up in my cabin and outside and can keep it very quiet in my apartment in the winter with mega hours on it and no issues. The 4.5 for quality is due to the not so great built-in tuner, that I quickly bought a Korg tuner to assist my learning ears. Now that I have experimented with all sorts of genres, and now an intermediate type of player, I'm defining my specific sounds that I want to specialize into the future much faster than I could have possibly dreamed of… basically because of the wide array of music I can play with this amp!!! Thanks Line 6 for an awesome product like this. I'll never be able to play a tube amp quietly or out in the woods, so this is a keeper. I bought the single speaker unit after being unhappy with a Fender micro and the GC manager recommended the Blackstar. Home run. I was so pleased with it, I also bought a Blackstar bass micro amp with the extension speaker. Both are superb. My primary use for this guitar amp is for when I go cruising and/or when I know I'm going to perform with acoustic players. This micro amp fits into a day pack along with my laptop and Steinberger Spirit guitar (which I love, also from GC). The flexibility of battery or AC power is wonderful. The sound for such a small unit is superb. Night before last I played my UBass with the Blackstar micro bass amp & extension speaker at a uke (two of which were amplified) jam and my bass was plenty loud enough. Can this amp keep up with big amps? Of course not. But it's perfect for certain situations … and that's why I have a collection of various guitars, basses and amps.Bill C.

Heard and saw the reviews on you tube, and thought I'd give it a try. Ordered the guitar version but when I got it and opened the box it had a bass model in it? Anyway I have a few pedals and a mooer pe100 so I gained a compressor instead of the delay. Plugged it in and used the second speaker as a stack and had to turn the volume down as it could be heard across the road at full wack, the sound is really thick with the isf set to 12 and the Mooer giving the delay with a touch of reverb and using the built-in compressor the sound is as good as some smaller setups costing a lot more. Small enough to be left setup for regular practice and with more power than you could use in a bedroom. Cracking piece of kit. Well worth the price, would recommend without reservation.kiethykieth

Bought this as my music room is rather small and I didn't want a great big beast of a thing taking up too much room. This kit is exactly what I was looking for. It has everything I need and the nice touch with the reverb delay and distortion is a bonus. I was impressed at how loud the system is for such a small item. I run it alongside a RC300, 4 pedals and Tascam 8 track digital recIorder outputted to Techics amp with Denon speakers. I feel I'm neglecting the wife🙄, I just unplug from the mains, pick it up and wonder into the front room and serenade her ….brownie points for me 😁 I do agree with another post about no being equipped with a carry handle or even better a couple of d clips on the side where you can attach a strap and sling it over your shoulder and off you go. The indio 10 amp that I received was flawless. It's construction is very solid. The clean channel doesn't color the sound but has treble/bass control for EQ. I don't use overdrive so I can't comment. That would be subjective to someone who does. It may be a sound that you've been looking for or you may hate it. I find that effects that I do not like work in certain situations. Also plug in a Mpow Bluetooth receiver and you have a Bluetooth speaker and with batteries it's portable. In my opinion this is a good value for the price.Mark

This is literally the best portable battery amp you can get. Blows away any Pignose. The sound is deep because it's a closed back, and it's actually loud enough for small shows and open-mic nights. Very happy with this purchase. Monoprice is a good company.Tom

I was pleasantly surprised by how great of a small practice amp the Indio by Monoprice 10-watt battery powered portable 2-channel amp is. The amp that I received didn?t have any cosmetic defects, all the controls worked as expected, and the construction feels solid. I use a Monoprice 6 ft. guitar amp cable to connect my American Professional Telecaster to the amp and the sound levels and tone coming out of the amp?s speaker sounds good to my ears. The amp comes with an A/C power adapter but I power the amp using Panasonic Eneloop rechargeable batteries for easy portability of the amp. I like the amp so much that I might buy another one. It's just a really decent rock or blues tone that inspires me to pick up my guitar and play more. Keep it on my desk when I'm working. Just plug in and go. Sounds really big for its size. I really freaked out when I saw how small it was in person. Plugged it in and then was like "Whoa, dude!" Look this amp won't solve world hunger but they got tone out of a 3" speaker. I don't care how or why. Bottom line is I play more because I have this amp and whenever that happens with any gear it feels like magic.Listens to Voices

Wanted a mobile rig to jam with family and friends. Hope to street busk soon when I learn enough songs. The street ex is loud, lighter than it looks in weight, and extremely versatile. The many input/ outputs gives the user many different options. I use the stereo inputs for my floor modelers, the street ex is capable of being an FRFR for the many digital modelers available today. I love the battery operated compartment design. It is loud and a great portable PA, my kids use it for home karaoke too. This PA has pretty good guitar tones. Limited in guitar amps and fx but it has the basics, that's why I use digital amp modelers run through stereo inputs. Doesn't have smart capabilities or an app interface. Lacks Bluetooth connectivity that many competitors offer. When run at max volume mix can get a little fizzy but distortion is low. Overall this PA masked as an amp is great if battery portability and loudness are important. If a guitar amp with fx and amp models are what your looking for this is not it. It is very well built and can take many inputs. Great for outdoor gatherings and hangouts. I use it on my pontoon many of times. It's an on the go rig must have.Fatback Benny

First, I would NOT consider this a guitar amp, and if you buy it as one you'll probably be disappointed. The COSM is fine and nice to have, but the guitar amp tones just aren't good enough to hang with real amps. I find there's always too much mid range muddiness that I can't dial out with EQ. As a mini PA, though, this is a great option. It gets plenty loud, the battery power option is great, there are good input and output options to allow you to use it as a powered monitor for a larger PA setting or connect it with other powered speakers to expand your sound. My vocals and acoustic guitar sound really nice through it. I've gigged a LOT with this for a few years, and it has held up well. It's really lightweight and I appreciate being able to roll into a gig with a very light and broken down setup. I've played small to medium sized rooms packed with people and never needed to turn this more than 75% up. Probably not gonna be enough with a full band, especially if your drummer and guitar amps like to play loud, but for duos and acoustic gigs, great option. When you consider how versatile it is, I think it's well worth it.Someguy

Damn good little amp, the modelling component is a little bit half assed, but usable nonetheless. I love that I can pick it up with 2 fingers, it can be bloody loud if you wish it so. Strangely enough rechargeable batteries last longer than ordinary ones. One thing missing is the ability to charge the rechargeable batteries. All in all pretty happy with the purchase.Ian F.
