I have tried quite a few straps for my basses, to see if I can get more comfortable. This strap definitely fits the bill for that. (best so far) It makes even my heaviest basses feel well supported and even though it's not lighter, it certainly feels lighter. I work as a bassist for many hours every day. I have a problem with numbness in my left (fretting) hand that the strap has helped, but didn't eliminate. I don't fault the strap with that problem. 50 years of rockin' on bass will take it's toll! I am a fairly big guy, and I would say that the strap could be longer. I improvised a way to lash the tail of the strap on, so as to get 2 more inches of length. Mine measures 54" from straplock to straplock. And yes, it's tricky getting the straplocks on because of the thickness of the leather. But it CAN be done. The product details on this site are mistaken. The correct name for this model is Levy MSS2-4. Its length is also mistaken. Its actual length is adjustable from 36" to 52". This is the regular model size, although an XL size exist (+12"), is not the one sold here. I just received mine and I'm very pleased with it. I have a very heavy six string bass and I like to position my bass right above my belly to better access the high C string. This Strap worked for me because its very wide (4 and 1/2 inches) and it gets to that wide in just 6" from the pin hole. This allows me to benefit from the wide padded area even if I play with my bass above my belly button. Other straps get wider gradually or have a longer distance between the pin hole and the widest padded area making it impossible for me to enjoy the benefits of it. I give this strap 5 starts because its solved my bass weight distribution problem. Its very comfortable, seems durable and it has a wide range of length. It has two holes on the low end so that you can quickly make changes in length by 6" without having to loop the belt.Looping the belt can take a little more time to make adjustments. On the other hand, because the strap has no metal or plastic parts, you can leave it on your bass and put it on gig-bag without having to worry about it scratching the instrument. This is a great price for this strap. Narrower straps cause numbness in the ring and pinky fingers on my left hand. This solves that problem. A local music store has the 3 inch version of this strap for $80. This strap is 1/2 again as wide, and costs 20% less. I just ordered strap locks so I can easily attach it to all my guitars. The strap's padding is so thick that installing strap locks is tricky. I had to mash the strap lock together with pliers to get the nut started on the thread. This is a problem with the strap locks and not the strap, in my opinion.barelyworthit

I bought one of these for a solid body bass I have that wore me out by the end of a 4 hour gig or even a long practice. The comfort is immediately noticed. The neoprene padding is very wide and helps distubute the instrument weight nicely. It also has a little "give" and stretches slightly in use that also seems to help. I'm 5'11" and wear my bass rather low (but NOT at my knees) and the length of this bass strap is just long enough for me, fully extended. The ends are heavy leather and hold well on the buttons, although I add an appropriate sized fender washer on the button screws to semi-permanently keep the strap with it's instrument. This is why I have purchased three of these straps for my heavier basses. Overall a wonderful design and I've been using these for about 10 yrs now with zero issues.ESharp Harp
I may never go back to using leather straps for my bass again. I mainly play solid body electric guitars, so I always had to use one of my guitar straps on my bass when I played it. It was always a killer on my shoulder without a dedicated bass strap. I have used 4 inch wide leather straps before and I didn't like them. This megabass strap is excellent. I instantly felt the difference throughout my whole body when I used this for the first time. The length was just long enough too. I am 5'11" and I play my guitars at waist or below. If anyone says that the quality of this product is poor, then they must have higher standards than I do. The only negative thing is the lack of style, but it doesn't bother me that much. Most strap designs and graphics look ridiculous to me anyways. It would be cool if Neotech produced them in different colors, just to have more of a selection. Agree with David from Kansas that either Neotech has changed their strap names and/or Musicians Friend has received mislabeled inventory. This is the second consecutive Mega Bass Strap I've ordered that has me disappointed. While it's the most comfortable strap on my shoulder, the length (or lack thereof) does not suit my personal taste for playing while standing. Just feels awkward that high on my chest. Strap is okay if sitting down and used for practice purposes. Will have to look at other vendors for strap selections in the future. It's an amazing strap as it is very comfortable on the shoulder but it's a chore setting it up to ones specs, second, unless you play guitar chest high I'd advise ordering a separate extension strap(see pic) that allows you to droop the guitar low in playing. One more concern is the stitch mending at the leather/neoprene connection point, it doesn't look as if it will last long but maybe I'm wrong but for preventative measures I'll have it reinforced stitched as soon as possible. Very well made, and not as stretchy as other neoprene straps I've used. The combination of the neoprene material and the 4-inch wide design makes this a really comfortable strap, but it's not without flaws. The way you adjust the strap length is a bit complicated, and the overall length of the strap is unimpressive. If you like to wear your guitar low I would not recommend this strap. I'm not one of those guys that like to sling their guitar down to their knees, but I had to adjust the strap to it's max length for it to be comfortable, and the neoprene part of the strap just barely managed to stay on my shoulder area. That being said, you can adjust this strap to be very short, and most guys I've seen with this strap seem to be bassists who like to wear their bass really high, so I think this strap is the most ideal for players who like to wear their instrument high.Tx Pete

I have had this for a few years, thought I had given it away. I'm glad I didn't. It's the only strap I have with enough length to be useable on my new Epiphone Masterbilt acoustic-electric. A couple of observations – (1) It appears the vast majority of good reviews are around 15 years old. Odd the negative ones are much more recent. Did the quality change? (2) To those grousing about it falling off – GET STRAPLOCKS!!! It's the only way you can guarantee you won't be bouncing your guitar off the floor, any strap can pop loose. They aren't that expensive, even if you own a cheap guitar. If you value your guitar, it is inexpensive insurance. My strap hasn't been heavily used, and my Masterbilt Dreadnought acoustic is relatively light in weight, so maybe I'm just lucky, but I haven't experienced any failures with the strap popping off (I haven't installed strap locks yet on it, but all my electric guitars and bass have them).Fenderbender853
It's a guitar strap. It holds your guitar up. It has a Lightning Bolt on it., That makes me think of Ace Frehley. Ace is cool. I want to be cool, too. So maybe this will help. This strap is ALMOST worth the money. The strap itself holds up well, but don't expect it to stay affixed to your guitar for very long. It's very loose. I've owned this strap for over a year. It's notorious for snapping off of the end of my SG, leaving me to hope I have fast enough reflexes to catch it and prevent it from getting damaged. If you have an expensive guitar that you are crazy about, don't by this strap and expect to play an entire show. Your 'baby' will fall to the ground and likely get damaged. I bought both the brown and black versions of this extra long strap. The brown one arrived first, so that is what I'll be reviewing, although I can't really imagine any actual difference between the two. I'm 6'4" and unless you like playing high and tight when you're that tall, you need an extra long strap. At 75 inches (fully extended) I can set my playing height to exactly where I want it with no issues. The fabric itself is surprisingly soft and the strap is quite comfortable. So far, the button holes are also very tight, and so the strap never comes loose. The only knock on this strap in my estimation is that the buckle sometimes is a little loose and will give a couple inches periodically. If it evens out later, I will revise this, and that is actually the only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars as of right now.Peter

My son bought me one of these for Christmas one year and I've been hooked on these ever since, I have one set up for my T-Bird basses and the other one set up for my Les Paul basses. I've been gigging as a bassist off an on since the early '80s. I'm older and (hopefully) wiser, with a left shoulder that really hurts during and after those 3 to 4 hour gigs. After buying countless straps to try out I decided to try out this double strap. It has basically solved the issue and has allowed me to bring out my heavier basses, including my 4003 and an older Jazz. It does restrict some of my stage antics a tad, but it's a worthwhile trade off. Now the downside. As delivered it was too short to be of use to me. I'm 5'11" with fairly wide shoulders but no behemoth. So, I had to order the strap length extender strap as an additional purchase. OK I'm all set…. as long as I'm OK with having a black strap wrapped around the top horn of any bass I want to use it with. My favorite color is white. Many of my basses are white. My beloved 4003 is mapleglow. I don't want a black choker looking strap strangling the horn. AHA, a solution! They sell a strap that goes between the strap pins on the back of the guitar and allows you to loop the second strap to that, thus obviating the problem… So that's two additional purchases I had to make to make this fit my needs. Great idea and I was really hoping it would work because I play six string basses and have developed some painful back problems, however this strap didn't work on my basses. It didn't provide the desired redistribution of weight from my left shoulder, to both shoulders. Also the part that wrapped around the upper horn on my bass didn't look very good. This turned out to be more useful than I thought – especially since you can stick it anywhere on the amp. When carrying my amp I use it to hold the power cord. I thought it would only attached to a handle but the velcro also adheres to the fuzz / carpet of the cabinet nicely as well. Definitely well made. About twice as much as it should be.
A simple accessory, well made and convenient. If you gig regularly, one of the most important considerations is cutting down on weight and setup/teardown time. This strap means you can leave the extra weight of an instrument stand at home. Its thick, wide Velcro securely fastens to either an amp handle or directly to carpet covered cabinets. Once you put it there, it will not move even with the heaviest of instruments attached. There's generous padding on the bass-facing interior, to keep your neck safe from any chafing. And since it can remain on your cabinet, it's also one less thing to forget or leave at the venue. Finally, since it puts your instrument right up against the cabinet, it saves space versus a stand. Seriously, this is a beautiful guitar strap. I've fitted it with strap locks and put it on my Olympic White American Pro and it's just the perfect finishing touch. It's really soft and supple right from new and looks as good as it feels. It's WELL worth the price and although it might look like a bit of a gamble, trust me it's one that pays off. I've been stoked all day after getting this and putting it on my guitar. I've attached a photo. For those that are interested, the black plastics kit was 18, the scratchplate 27 and the Seymour Duncan Classic Stack Humbuckers were 80 each. They still sound exactly like a Strat should, maybe with little more guts but they don't lose any of the essential sound of the Strat. They are however completely silent in positions 1, 3 and 5 and well worth the money in terms of build and sound quality and if 60 cycle hum is something you want to avoid they are a great solution. I bought this in Chestnut for a Blueridge Historic series acoustic guitar and it matches up with it very well. It is 2" wide and quite soft. The leather on the finished side has nice color and character, like the picture shows. The reverse side is tan with enough texture to keep the guitar in place. I have an ebony endpin and D'Addario round strap button (neck heel). The strap went on with reasonable effort, but I found that due to its softness, the endpin occasionally slipped off (when picking the guitar up and thankfully never hit the floor). I bought two rubber washers, placed between the strap and the outside lip of the buttons, at the local hardware store (3/8" ID x 3/4" OD) for under a buck – problem completely solved. I really like this strap, kind of like a worn in pair of jeans. It looks great and the 2" width is comfortable for the relative light weight of an acoustic guitar.C-ville Brent
I purchased this strap in black/white reversible. Technically, that's true, I guess. However, there is a huge "MADE IN CANADA" stamp on the white side near the end. So, in my mind, it really isn't reversible. Tacky! Other than that, it is a good strap. I almost sent it back, but I can just use the black side.DJA

Ein sehr schönes Muster, gut verarbeitet. Metallische Parts (im Gegensatz zu den Fender Gurten bei denen es zumeist Kunststoff ist). Schön weich, verteilt das Gewicht gut, ist jedoch natürlich nicht gepolstert. Für eine schwere Les Paul vielleicht eher einen teureren gepolsterten Ledergurt. Ansonsten nichts zu beanstanden. Preis ist für einen Markengurt okay.
