I must've been living under a rock. I just discovered Aguilar stuff. After listening to some samples of the TH, I was impressed. After getting it from MF and hooking it up to my five string Peavey Foundation, I was instantly hooked. I'll never play a note again without this thing. Yes, it's that good. I love that you can get scooped sounds for funk and distorted sounds for rock. It makes any bass, especially a passive one, sound like it costs like a million. Downside is Aguilar stuff is a little pricy, but I got the MF discount, and I'll probably get their other pedals if I can find a great deal on them. I highly recommend this pedal.Bassdude123
Good thing – eq doesnt colorize the sound and makes it bigger and warmer. Bad thing – AGS mode makes signal louder. You cant switch device when playing song without dB jump. This thing just sounds great. The tone stack seems perfect for bass. I couldn't dial in a bad sound once I had the gain's and master's for both pedals set. I use a Markbass Compressore in front of it. The secret to the AGS boost is to keep the Tone Hammer's gain LOW and use the Master for makeup gain. Start at 9:00 and adjust from there. Then the AGS boosts the signal for soloing just enough to sound like a tube amp on the edge of breakup but still sounds like your "tone" and not a fuzztone. I haven't tried the DI partblues_disciple

I've had the Liverpool character pedal for a long time. It sounds like a Vox. I've had both versions of the RK5 Fly Rig (still have and gig v2) and the dUg DP3X (gig this one, too). I hadn't heard about this until I got my latest issue of Guitar Player magazine in the mail and these guys are al over the outside back cover ad. I ordered it immediately through Sweetwater. It sounds great! I have the UAFX Ruby, a Quilter Superblock US (shoulda been the UK, I know) and a Mooer GE 300 Lite: all trying to solve the "silent stage" conundrum when I can't bring out my Top Hat or Dr Z or Fender TRRI. But this is the pedal I was waiting YEARS for: XLR and 1/4" outputs for FOH and monitor amp, respectively. Voxy Voxness that's Voxtastic for the convenient, silent stage live application. While the other products are fine in their own capacities (and, to be fair, the Ruby sounds slightly better though digitally noisy in live situations), I would've saved about a thousand bucks had I known this existed. But, um, no built-in tuner. That'll cost ya a star, particularly since the RK5 and the dUg have built-in tuners. (Really, Tech 21?) Totally a keeper!!
I bought this because I'm a huge fan of the RK5 Fly Rig, but I wanted something that was programmable and MIDI controllable, to integrate with my pedalboard. The PSA2 does all that perfectly but it's the sounds that have blown me away. It sounds incredible. Every Marshall tone is achievable and authentic, so are Fender and Mesa tones, and anything in between. And it really responds well to picking dynamics, and when you back off the volume on the guitar it cleans up perfectly. And…it just feels and sounds better than digital – my HX Stomp is now for effects only. I couldn't be happier, it's exactly what I needed. Thoroughly recommended!rossmacrae777

Overall: I have put this preamp in two of my basses now and I absolutely love it. Super easy to install with no issues!!! This preamp has several cool features I love. For me the best part is being able to select the exact mid frequency you want to boost or cut. It’s also super cool that there are four different curves you can choose from on the treble boost/cut. All these features make for a very versatile preamp you can use to dial in any sound you want right on your bass.In response to the other review on here I don’t know what that guys problem was. When you install the knobs you just have to make sure you leave a little space between the knobs and the nut below them. Overall: Dont even bother with this junk…..Will never EVER buy again. EVER!!!!If I could give this system a 0 instead of 1 star I would. I bought this set close to a year ago and it has been a nightmare the whole time. The biggest problem with this system is the "d" shape shafts on the concentric pots. I tried knobs that I had ordered for this upgrade and they did not work very well because the upper small knob kept dragging on the top of the bottom larger knob. I contacted EMG and they said that they sold knobs on their website so I ordered those knobs. They did the same thing. I contacted them again and they wanted me to send them the set with the plate where the pots were attached to. I sent them the whole thing yet they could not fix the problem and sent it back to me with no solution. They are not willing to give me back my money so a year later and I am still stuck with this useless set from EMG. I have installed many high end preamps and also cheap preamps from China and all the pots are always smooth. EMG should be embarrassed to sell this junk. Right now it is still in its box not being used because when I tried to use it the knobs kept sticking and it was very embarrassing. NEVER AGAIN will I by from EMG. They have really let me down. I am very happy with this pedal. Looking forward to using it through the P.A. My mark bass mini CMD combo 12 sounds great . Very close to my real 64 Bassman. Thinking about adding a 15 inch speaker but probably not necessary. Being an old school bass player this really is great for the songs my band plays.
Easy to work with, has a great soundstage to it and to my ears sounds better than Radial DI and plug-ins. Does have a little ‘woofy’ sound to it that a little post eq cut ( in the box) would help. But a great product to get that vintage bass sound. My go to bass sound for recordings! Recommend!
In my opinion, as a bass player since 1967, and a luthier/tube amp tech since 1973 Simon Keats at Origin Effects designs the best sounding pedals (reproductions of vintage amps & compressors) and are the highest quality pedals on the planet. I bought both Bassrig versions which duplicate their respective amps ( the '64, a Fender blackface Showman and the Super Vintage, an Ampeg SVT) which reproduce very accurately these amps from the input to the output jack, and both even have a cab sim on the XLR output. I was recommended this bass preamp almost 20 years ago. I've been through a TON of boutique equipment since then, trying to find 'my sound' and figured..what the heck, let me give this pedal a try. It makes EVERYTHING sound better! If you play on other peoples rigs from time to time, bring this!!! You'll be so much happier you did! You can find 'your sound' on almost any rig with this little guy. I'm a gear snob, I like 'my sound', which is clear, clean, and with a little bit of tube breakup while grinding in on my jazz. My sound is a cross between Flea and Marcus Miller. My boutique equipment gives me this on its own. When I'm forced to play a Behringer single 15" cab with no tweeter and no usable EQ because its the backline, the Sans Amp will be definitely utilized that night! Here's why I love this thing. First, I prefer passive basses. Second, when gigging I need fast access to three basic tone signatures — a mid-boosted one for a balanced mix with the band, a bottom-heavy grindy one for heavy lifting, and a scooped one for funk and solos. Program those in, and good to go, with the option to tweak them a bit for conditions without permanently altering the setting. Third, after years of lugging heavy, bulky head units I now feed the Sansamp into a 1000W ultralite power amp and have all the headroom I need, without the pain. Fourth, whenever I meet a new sound man at gigs the first thing I hear is "Sweet, a Sansamp DI." Fifth, hand-built like a tank in NYC. I'm sure I can list more, but you get the idea. Wasn't expecting more than a good D. I. Box. After using it at my band rehearsal it's now become essential. It has made my ashdown drive pedal obsolete, cleaned up the bottom end in my tone and the whole band. I use a Spector Legend 6 Bass. I'm In a band with two bassists, drums and vocals. We both Bi-amp. A bass amp and a guitar amp. Getting these to all work together can be a real headache… But this has improved things so much, that the other bassist has one now. Tone very comparable to an ampeg type- Growly, very tight and controllable bottom end, doesn't "fart out" on Max. Top end can be moved between airy and crunchy. Build quality It is plastic, but I have no worries. I'm sure if I stomped on the 1/4" Jack, it would damage, but I keep mine on the pedal board anyway. Value Beyond comparison. I can't think of a better spent 20. The sansamp it's cloning is at least 8 times more expensive. And although it's better in some areas, (metal casing etc), sound-wise there's little to choose between them. At this price, in the unlikely event it broke, I'd just buy another. I have recorded using this, and it has very little noise, But massive tone. If it sounds good in an amplifier, it really comes into its own recorded. Obviously with Behringer you are likely trying to save some cash instead of getting something "name brand." When I would record DI bass guitar, I used to run it through a distortion or fuzz pedal to get a more natural sounding gain. The V-Tone pedal is very good in that regard. Turn the presence, drive, and blend knobs all the way up and adjust the EQ to your liking and you get a mean crunch while keeping the clack of loose strings. That is about the limit of this pedal's potential, at least for me. Any adjustment to those knobs to turn down the distortion results in a sound nearly identical with just a clean DI with no pedal or preamp at all. It's as if turning them up from 1 to 8 has no effect until you get them to 9 and 10. Another flaw I've found is the high gain settings bring along a high pitched whistle that occurs randomly during playing, though it seems to happen with a lot of string rattle from long, held notes. It doesn't stand out when it's mixed with drums and a wall of guitars, though. I've only used it as a DI for recording, never as a preamp or DI for a PA or anything like that, it's possible it could be really good for those. I am happy with it to record bass for my doom, black metal, and mathcore kind of music, but wouldn't go to it for anything else.Jacob
I recently purchased the guitar version (GDI21) and was quick to get this bass version soon after. I own a rack mount Tech21 Sansamp RBI unit which has been excellent for me thru the years live. Also, their V1 VT Bass pedal has been a mainstay for me in a live setting. This is a very good clone of the BDDI with potential issues if used in a live setting. These are: Cheezy and fragile On/Off foot switch, and Illegible knobs. I have no idea where the knobs are set at any given time. Aside from that, I like this as a desk top companion to my other tone shapers such as the MXR M80 and M81 Bass Preamps. True to the many reviews I read online before purchasing, this preamp is very transparent, providing boost and EQ without adding its own color/flavor to the sound. Great for matching a passive instrument's output to that of an active one when switching between. So if boost and a bit of EQ are what you're looking for this may be the pedal for you. I purchased this to compliment my Yamaha BB425x which, for a passive bass, has a hot output. The EQ parameters don't have a wide enough range to be very versatile. I found myself having to run at 3 o'clock just to get much of a difference and at full for a obvious difference. With an active bass I could compensate for that but, I bought it to compensate a bass, not the other way around. On the plus side it is very quiet, and like all MXR products well built.markm13

Really like the voicing of the sweepable miss, wider filter than a lot of eq, great for filling out jazz bass mids. Replacing an onboard preamp should be done voluntarily. This was most certainly not. After 1,000+ gigs I 'upgraded my 95' Modullus Quantum 5 from the Bartolini NTMB 18v system to an Aguilar OBP3 loved it for 9 months until it died at a gig (there is no active/passive switch, and yes it was totally EMBARRASSING & EXPENSIVE).The repair tech in Dallas said quote "I've had to replace 5 OBP3's recently, they are made in China now & are NOT serviceable" (the circuit board is filled with epoxy).I ordered a Glockenklang 3 band unit and I have NEVER been happier with my bass. The passive/active push-pull volume pot is almost identical in output (given the tone controls are at center).Much happier!Donno Disposable electronics have no place on stage. It is sitting in a drawer. It has no value.

I'm soon going to post a youtube review about the pedal. As you can see from the pic I have some of the pedals the Xtomp models. Xotic bb-preamp, rc booster, Super overdrive, and a few more out of site. I A/B tested them and in some cases the 2 were undistinguishable. Generally the difference are in the output level, noise level, 1 case a slight difference in the mids, but they captured the essence of the pedals they modelled very well. What the Xtomp gives you is the ability to have many different sounds at your fingertips. A variety of booster, overdrives, distortions, that all sounds very different from each other. The effects and amp models are realistic. The sound is great. It stacks super well, I use an overdrive in front of it, makes the amp models come to life. Sound good either way! My principal use of the Radial Bassbone OD is for playing a 2007 Yamaha TRB-1005 five-string active bass as accompaniment for a grand piano and 4-part choir at Sunday morning Mass in a church space that seats several hundred. I need to connect to both the house sound system and an amplifier. The Bassbone DI delivers a clean, quiet signal and it's great to be able to select post-EQ for the DI since the house sound is a non-adjustable, set-it-and-forget-it system. Also, the high pass filter switch has made it easy to get rid of the boominess I otherwise get in this space but keeps the clean fundamental tones I want. I run one pedal through the fx loop, always on. It's very convenient that there's always a signal to the tuner jack, even when the mute foot switch is engaged. That makes it possible to quickly tune before and during the service without having to separately mute the amplifier and the house sound. Because of the nature of the music and the setting, use of the overdrive circuit is limited, but I do find that with the Drive, Mix and Tone knobs turned down low, it still helps the notes "sing" a bit, which is effective on slower passages where notes benefit from a little more sustain. The EQ makes it easy to dial in a sound that supports what's coming out of the piano so the two instruments really sound like they belong together. At home, I also play a '73 passive P-bass through the Bassbone and have noticed the sound benefits considerably from the Drag adjustment available on Channel B. In combination with the EQ section and the Mid frequency select switch, I get the best sound from the P-bass I've ever had. So, for me, the Bassbone OD has great connectivity capabilities and makes it easy to get a pleasing and controllable sound. Bought this little gem used but in excellent condition. The first thing i noticed when taking this thing out of the the box was how solid and well built it really is. Not only are all the switches and knobs solid and well placed but it's all the little things that make this pedal so good. Having a pre – post switch on the DI, being able to set up the overdrive function for overdrive, efx or both. The PZB, Drag and Blend controls along with the fact of just having a knob to turn instead of having to scroll through a bunch of presets. I love the fact that I can switch between my fretted and fretless bass sound with just the click of the A/B switch. In my case I play a lot of gigs that are straight to the PA (no amp) and this pedal if perfect for this. My PA guy almost loves this pedal more than I do.Mr. Montuno

After alot of thought I took the plunge into the Darkglass realm and got a B7K ULTRA. And I must admit, This pedal is worth the hype. I didn't fully agree with them marketing it at predominately metal players as this put me off their products at first. I am a metal player but I also play other styles too and when purchasing bass preamps especially, In my opinion, it must be capable of versatility. Now having this unit and being able to explore it's capabilities, I see it is capable of so much more. There are two main things that I love about this pedal. The first one being, the option to have the distortion on or off at the stomp of your shoe. The second, and probably most important, this pedal doesn't over-colour your tone like most other preamps but more adds a naturally enhanced extension of your instruments tone which was a pleasant suprise to me. The cab sim is very useable, I use it mostly for recording. Some of the user presets in the DG suite are fantastic, some are not. Very high-quality electronics, clear and punchy sound with nice EQ voicing. I've found the distortion tone blends into the mix when I'm playing with a band, yet to get a tone that really cuts through unless I bypass the whole pedal and use the EQ to make the distortion stand out. This has just brought new life to the bass for me. i've had the pleasure of jamming on it and it just dialed in tones i was able to get with previous gear. first, the bass scrambler nuances went from subtle all the way distortion of the bass in a way that can keep the tone of your gear transparent or (by dialing in different settings) saturate it for new sonic colors and complexities. it has been a game changer for me. the ultra low setting is one of my favorites as it hits just right out of speakers. ultra high can get a completely different tone that worked for songs i wasn't sure how else to get the sound i needed. condition shows little to almost no light marks, but want to be transparent for you all. i just found this pedal to be one that gave me a little extra grit and gave new tones i didn't have before to work with. overall, pedal is wonderful and i love it. feel free to message with any questions.

This box is terrific. My basses sound great through it and there is a wide range of tones available. The scrambler circuit is a real hayride. Im running an instrument, a mic and an iPod through it and it all works great. My cheap electric guitar even sounds worth keeping now. My issue is power. The battery is buried behind the back plate. You have to open the box to get to it. The box does not come with a power supply. Musicians Friend benignly neglects to tell you this. You should talk to MF for power supply suggestions.tomgray56
Overall: I recently picked up an inexpensive Bugera rig for live gigs, which was great "oomf" for the price, but it didn't quite have the tone or character I wanted. Very flat sound, but affordable! Enter the SCR-DI! I wanted something with some crunch built in, that also had DI out. But the headphone out and AUX in on this definitely peaked my interest, as its always nice to have after-hour practice options. I plugged it into my head, and as soon as I switched it on I was in tone heaven. Even with the EQ settings all set flat, this box gave my bass tone that color and chunk I was looking for. Then of course with the Ultra Hi/Lo settings there's even more flexibility on how round, snappy, or smooth you want. The scrambler sounds great. I prefer the drive and blend both set to 12-o'clock, just to give some crunch on the top end, that gets more dirty the harder you play. Cranked all the way is almost fuzz territory. The paint job makes it look plastic but it's a rugged all metal chassis so I'm sure this'll be part of my rig for a while. Overall I'm super pleased with this. Highly recommended if you're in need of a DI box or just looking for an all-in-one solution to make your rig sound more Ampeg-ish.Alexander
Sound: The pedal has a buffered sound. When not using the preamp, you'll need to use another pedal to boost volume levels. That said, I love the tone stack. The SVT sound really comes through. I really like the way my bass sounds through it. Can't really say if the tone stack "colors" the bass tone. For my style and my current bass set up in praise and worship (Yamaha TRBX305 with Aguilar Super Doubles and a Seymour Duncan STC-3P), I begin with my EQ set to noon. If I'm using a lot of finger style that day, I'll boost the mids to about 1 or 2 o clock, and sometimes the bass to about 1 o clock. For slap and funk tones, I like to set the bass and treble to 1 o clock. and mids at noon. Features: I love that I can use it as a practice amp. We went through some struggles recently and had to get rid of a fender halfstack and found myself with nothing to practice with. This pedal made practice possible. I'm not really a fan of the overdrive circuit, and currently have a love/hate relationship with it. The ultra-hi and lo settings are interesting. I don't use the ultra hi boost, but the ultra low I'll use with overdrive to help make up for any bottom end I lose. Sometimes I'll use it too if I need thick bass for something slow but epic. My only wish is that I could have slightly better EQ controls, specifically with the mids, maybe a parametric sweep, or even a switch with preset frequencies. Ease of Use: Very easy to use. Beware, if you put a battery into it, it will buffer your signal even if it's off. I really like that I can unscrew the back pack without the use of tools of any kinds. The rubber pads underneath are designed to also function as thumb screws, very easy to take off and replace, which makes replacing batteries on the fly a very simple task. Quality: The pedal feels heavy and tough, but I cannot yet speak on it's reliability although it hasn't failed yet. Value: It's expensive but worth it. The Wow Factor: No real wow factor. It is a nice solid pedal but nothing crazy or particularly special about it. Overall: I love this pedal. My purpose for purchasing this pedal was to improve my bass tone. I figured the best way was to look for something I could use to split my signal between the stage amp and the house system at my church. I'm not a fan of the stage rig we use, so this pedal allows me to bypass the rig. The best part was the added unexpected bonus of total ground noise elimination! For some reason, utilizing the XLR output from the amp head to the house resulted in ungodly amounts of noise. I now get a cleaner signal to the house and can better control my volume (the stage rig is very old and has sensitive volume controls).Christian

This is a great multi effects pedal/DI. Its all I need. Dont let its small size fool you. Its got some weight to it, so I assume its probably well built. All metal. Each effects sections knobs light up a different color. Tuner is accurate. I didnt give a full 5 stars because I wouldve liked a rate knob in the chorus section & maybe some more options in the compressor section. Overall, I recommend this pedal. Pleasantly surprised with the build & sound quality. I doubt Ill use the Dirty Q (envelope filter) much but its there if I need it. Intended for acoustic guitar, bass, or any other acoustic instrument with a pickup and a 1/4" output, the fishman platinum pro eq is a preamp and di boasting an analog signal path, onboard compression, and a variety of tone-shaping options. connections are possible via 1/4" input and 1/4" output jacks, though there's also an xlr di for feeding audio straight to the house's pa, mixer, or a recording interface. this output is pre-/post-eq switchable, meaning you can route a tonally shaped or unprocessed signal through this section of the preamp. also provided are 1/4" send and return jacks for patching in external devices to further enhance and affect your overall sound. the preamp itself utilizes a high-headroom class-a design, with a 5-band eq section that can be voiced separately, by means of a switch for bass or guitar. an integrated compressor allows you to level your signal, the effects of which can result in more sustain and a more even tone on stage. a phase switch, combined with a notch filter with a sweepable frequency, aids you in the never-ending battle against feedback in live scenarios. a built-in tuner, accurate to 0.5 cents, can be switched on to help you quickly check your tuning or re-tune between songs. to add a little more volume for solos or other stand-out sections, a boost footswitch has been provided, its level of gain adjustable by means of a pot located on the side of the unit. here you'll also find an input trim pot to better attenuate your pickups to the signal path provided by the platinum pro. the pedal can be powered with a 9v battery, or with an optional power supply.

Overall: I use this with electric guitar right at the front of the chain and I had become invaluable to my clean tone. The compressor, tuner, and low cut filter would be enough to satisfy most, but the EQ is well calibrated, the parametric mid knob is incredibly useful, and the boost gives plenty of extra clean volume. For me it provides the perfect foundation to my effects rig, but as a solo acoustic performer I could leave the other effects behind, I’m totally covered.Jacob
After doing much research on what would work best for my eclectic needs, I decided the Platinum Pro EQ/DI was going to be my best bet. I use mine with acoustic lap steels with L.R. Baggs M1A pickups and a Strat with a passive Graphtech Ghost system. I have a Vox passive volume pedal, a Boss TR-2 Tremolo, and a Line 6 Verbzilla in the effects loop. The main selling points for me were 1) the super high 10M ohm input impedance as I use a passive piezo with it, 2) the on board compressor, 3) the variable high pass filter (as opposed to just a fixed setting), and 4) the on board tuner. With minor tweaks to the input trim, pretty much any pickup system is going to work with this pre-amp. The on-board compressor sounds much better for acoustic than a typical electric guitar compressor (to my ears) as it doesn't clip or "squish" as much; it sounds very natural and improves string balance and sustain. The footswitchable boost is useful for balancing between different guitars on the fly, but I like to leave it on at the lowest setting (+3db) because 1) I get a indicator that the unit has power as there is no power LED and 2) the boost is before the effects loop so it drives the pedal chain better, like an amp's effects loop would. The tuner is accurate and flexible as it has several modes, but it will forever stay set to A=440 and chromatic for my uses, anyway. The LCD backlight could be a little brighter for outdoor use, but I'm used to using Boss TU-3's on my other pedal boards with their brightness cranked up. My only other gripe is that the master volume does not control the XLR output, but I understand that they do that so if you were running the amp output to a stage amp it wouldn't affect the DI signal. That said, I plug mine into a QSC K10 via the XLR out, but that's why I have the volume pedal in the effects loop as none of my guitars have an easily accessible volume control, anyway. The tuner still mutes the DI signal, however, which is useful. Great pre-amp!Platinum Pro User
I've quickly incorporated the Platinum Pro EQ into my acoustic guitar signal chain. It took a few gigs to dial in the settings that I want, but it's super easy to use and sounds great! Haven't played a show with a proper FOH engineer, but I look forward to sending him or her the DI signal from the unit. Only drawback is that the tuner is pretty difficult to see when playing an outdoor gig in any kind of direct sunlight. This is true for most electronics, so no surprise there.Jesse D.
