I use Ernie Ball almost exclusively. But, this is the first time I used them on a classical Guitar. It took 5 days for them to stretch out and even begin to stay in close to in tune. Granted, I put them on a Córdoba C5….not the highest end guitar. But, they still should have taken less time to settle in. Also, the black nylon strings seem to have a much smaller diameter than the original Aquila strings. I love Ernie Ball strings, but going to have to to pass on this particular set.Dean

There are nylon string sets and other brands that may fit certain styles of playing or specific player preferences better, but for the price, these Martin hard tension nylon sets are tough to beat. They seem to have pretty good string life and nice tone. I am happier with the wound bass strings than I am the trebles. I use these on my Ibanez GA6CE-AM-2Y-01 Classical/Electric. If you like the traditional nylon (aka: cat gut) then these are your strings. They're really comfortable on the fingers, resonate well, bend easily and have that warm tone yet deliver the treble side, as well. Installation is a little challenging with the slotted head stock (nature of the beast) but tying them to the bridge is much easier (see attached pic). Definitely recommended! Just remember to let them stretch good and they will stay in tune.John564Holloway

In case it is not clear, these are nylon string sets that have a "bead", as most electric or steel acoustic strings do, rather than two bare ends to each string. The result is a much reduced time needed to put them on the guitar, as the "crafts fair" fiasco the other, Luddite strings require of you at the bridge end is eliminated. Note: the nylon strings have a plastic bead bearing against a knot in the string. This is ok, but the user should pay heed to clipping the excess end of nylon beyond the bead to ensure it does not become a "snare" rattling against the guitar's resonant top.Tone
As far as I tried sets of nylon string to my MARTIN 000C Nylon, this Martin M260 80/20 Bronze with ball end is the best. I have tried D'addario Folk Nylon before but its sound too warm for 000C. I have also tried M260 with my Parlor Art and Lutherie (Ami), the strings give more clarity and brightness to its Cedar top. Normal tension from Martin Nylon is less than D'addario Nylon. Bottom line result, M260 gives "steel string feeling and sound" if you like finger-style or something not too classical.Kritsada

The strings I took off were about 2-3 months old and as I was getting ready for a jam session thought I would replace. These are high quality strings with no mechanical problems. They stay in tune, feel good under the hand, and intonate properly. They also seem quite durable – I have been playing my set regularly for a month and they show virtually no wear. On the other hand, the treble strings have an extremely glassy, metallic sound that can become shrill and artificial sounding. They are not suited to my cedar-top guitar at all, and I cannot imagine that many classical guitarists would find their tone attractive. These might be more appropriate for another musical style. I've been using these strings for a while now and I can honestly say they're my favourite strings for Flamenco and Classical guitar. The basses are not too bright and keep a consistent tone , trebles seem thin but that may be an illusion of the black nylon, however they are crisp and I find my ami fingernails glide better on these than any other trebles. I bought these as I was after some clear nylon strings due to being no longer able to obtain any of my favourite strings due to post-Brexit import issues. At first I thought these might be a good replacement as the sound was nice, clear and bright with excellent sustain. So I bought some more to try on my other ukuleles. However I discovered a few times whilst re-stringing that a string would occasionally snap during the stretching out process (most commonly the 2nd E string). I had never come across this before, and have to admit I began to lose a bit of confidence in these strings. After using the strings for a while I also began to find the very bright sound just a little bit too harsh and brash for my ears. I have tried the black nylon version as it is the mellower version, however I found they went a bit too far the other way. So I would sum up these strings for me as "brash, bright and brittle". Good enough, and certainly very bright and clear with excellent sustain at a good price. The ball ends are really a great idea, especially on my Kanile'a with it's bridge pins.robertotango
I bought these to put on an inexpensive ukulele with a slotted bridge. The wood had cracked a little on the G string, so I thought the ball ends would be better than tying a great, big knot. I've purchased the strings before for a uke with bridge pins, and the "balls" on the strings were attached to the string itself and clear or maybe white. This set is different. They have knots tied in them and little black beads strung onto the string. Well, I could have done that myself with my favorite string brand. They work, they're just not what I expected. The black beads look a little wonky, but they work. Just not what I expected, and if you have purchased these before, they might not be what you expect either.baxter-k

I use the coated EXP45 normal tension strings on my Guild GAD-C2NA classical guitar. This is the guitar I travel with and use for most fingerstyle applications. I reserve my Ramirez E4 for local classical performances. The bottom 3 strings have great definition and stay within a few cents of concert pitch for several months. The top 3 strings are the same nylons from the EJ45 set. They may drop 20 cents overnight, but tune right up and stay in tune while playing. This set has a respectable classical tone but is a little brighter than the EJ45 Pro Arte set. They are fantastic if you are playing and singing popular and rock songs along with a few classical favorites. You can beat on them with rougher technique and they hold up and sing out. The EXP45 set only puts about 81 lbs. on the neck as compared to 86 lbs. for the EJ45 set. The lighter feel makes them very versatile and reduces your fatigue. The D'Addario claim is true: The composite core bottoms really do last 3-4 times longer. With a lot of practicing and performing, I can burn through an EJ45 set in 1-2 weeks. I've changed EXP45 sets at 2 months for a gig and have not really needed to. The windings will show some wear, but the bottoms are still staying in tune. The coating pays off if you don't always remember to wipe down the strings and fingerboard after playing.There are some who call me...Jim
I recently purchased a used classical guitar and gave it a set up, replaced the strings. That's when I purchased these EJ45's….Took almost a month for the strings to stop stretching. Would not stay in tune !! Maybe drop these in some boiling water like E.V. used to do to his strings to stretch them out..?? THE BAD….I thought it was the tuners (machine heads) on the guitar and almost purchased a new set. I've used the red package normal tension with no issues, I will not buy the EJ45 again. While my guitar was just sitting on the stand the G string starting to unravel and eventural just broke…THESE STRINGS ARE A WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME !GhostGrappler
I am accustomed to subtle differences between acoustic guitar strings by various manufacturers, but those differences can seem less apparent with classical guitar strings. The best way I could describe tone is Willie Nelson. Not for everybody – but these stings are mellow but have a great attack for single note playing. these strings have been chosen to fit perfectly on my handmade Antonio Sanchez crafted in 1995. It's just a splendid experience to have these resonating through both our bodies. A personal choice, but I like D'addario strings in general and always them on my steel acoustic and electric guitars. Just acquired a Spanish classical guitar (new experience for me!) so I started experimenting with strings. I like these a lot as they have a much more familiar feel – I started with medium EJ27 strings which were a bit "loose" for me? – and a nicer tone. My teacher approves too…man_at_gwizz-it
