Overall: The Epiphone Broadway is a well-appointed instrument that would be a bargain at twice the price. I've been playing guitar for almost 30 years and I've owned many guitars that cost five times more than the Broadway. I am pleasantly surprised – shocked, even – than an instrument THIS good is available at such a reasonable price point.Aesthetically, the Broadway is gorgeous out of the box. The vintage natural polyurethane finish is glossy and durable, though lacks the traditional charm of nitrocellulose. A heavy poly coat prevents the Broadway's hollow body from resonating optimally, though this is likely only an issue for very, very picky aficionados. The headstock inlay and Art Deco fingerboard inlays are beautiful and precisely installed. Tonally, the Broadway is responds extremely well to heavier flatwound strings. Simple truss rod, saddle, and bridge adjustments are all that's needed to accommodate flatwounds. Even with heavy strings (12+) the Broadway's action stays low and playable, with no fret buzz. Chords ring cleanly and single-note runs are articulate – both acoustically and when plugged in. Grover tuners are accurate and reliable, and the fret dressing is impeccable from the factory. The slim-taper 60s neck is substantive yet never unwieldy, though I'm accustomed to playing large necks on Les Pauls and 335s. Jumping from a Telecaster to a Broadway may feel like work for beginners.The stock pickups are good, though not as articulate as USA-made PAF replicas. The bridge pickup is understandably thin – but who uses a giant jazz guitar with the bridge pickup? The neck pup provides warm, round tones that respond incredibly well to variances in pick attack. Too dark? Use an acrylic pick. Too bright? Lean toward casein, acetate, or wood picks. Overall, I am thrilled with Epiphone's recent quality control improvements and couldn't be happier with my Broadway. It's not an acoustic archtop: don't expect it to be one. Though if you're looking for an affordable way to dip your toes into Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Jim Hall, or Grant Green style tones, the Broadway will get you much of the way there with cash to spare.Aaron
This is probably one of the best sounding guitars for jazz ever made. I own an L5 and this thing is right up there with it. I usually play the Broadway more because I like the neck better than the L5. It has a sound second to none and will not disappoint any jazz aficionado. I own two of these guitars. Overall: I have been anticipating the arrival of the Vintage Natural finish on this guitar for several months. The cosmetic choice was simply to have a different look than another guitar I already own. When it launched, there were few photos to get a good picture of the oversll look and construction. Then, a couple of weeks ago, zZounds loaded the set of pics I was waiting to see. I was skeptical. The guitar looks okay in the photos. I was sitting on the fence. There are a few different L-5’s I’m leaning toward but want to make sure before dropping that kind of coin. I noticed in the rear headstock shot the Made in China sticker. I was gonna let it go and move on. And, almost did. I recently picked up a Wine Red Joe Pass Emperor II Pro from zZounds (Made in Indonesia) and was thoroughly impressed. I love it! I’ve been playing it almost as much as the tried and true that I’m used to playing. So, I thought, ahh what the heck, why not?I ordered the Broadway on a Saturday night and it arrived Tuesday morning. I was pleased… I tried to stay calm and give it a chance. I cleaned the factory newness off with a finish cloth and tuned ‘er up and slowly started to get the feel for my new family member. What the hell, who am I kidding. For the price it is a great buy!I am sorry for having been a snob about Chinese guitars. This one got me. The fit and finish is on a par with some American models in the same and slightly higher price range. But, more importantly, the design is a classic archtop acoustic electric that is carried off to near pefection in this model. I do own an L-5 and it would be unfair to compare the two head to head. But, that’s not the point. The point is playability and joy. This guitar is an absolute joy. It has a voice all its own and the action is so light. I played her for about 4 hours on the first sitting. I wiped her down and put her on her new stand in the family. I came back to the zZounds website to see what I missed.. why didn’t I see the beauty of this guitar. I started reading the specs, all over again… I don’t know how many times I read them before ordering. And then, I crossed the reviews and saw there were none. I’m not big on expreesing my opinion on instruments. Each has it’s own personality and value and, as the old saying goes, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.I felt compelled to write this review, not only as praise of this instrument but, to admit how wrong I was with a pre-conceived notion that a guitar made in China would somehow be inferior… Boy, I was wrong!And, I am grateful to admit it.Gary

Look, I have played guitar over 50 years. I bought this to have a guitar to play around the camp fire or just drag around. I had Sweetwater set it up before it shipped. Got this thing and was completely blown away! With the set up it plays better than my Ovation Elite. Great guitar and great sound not to mention the service from Greg and the guys at Sweetwater. Perfect set up, awesome customer service. For the price, there is no way you can go wrong with this guitar – just make sure you get it set up properly!!!
Much more than a starter guitar. Put a set of Elixir strings on this, a minor tweak of the action and away you go. Plays like an electric sounds full-bodied like a Dreadnought should. Full range of sound from base mid and treble. Mic it or I use a Dean Markley pick up for amplifier. A gorgeous sound and play sensitivity to a myriad of different styles. I have more expensive acoustic guitars. But believe it or not this one sounds better and plays better than all of them. I purchased the ebony all black model. It has a very nice look on stage. But my thing is not how an instrument looks but rather on the playability and the tonal quality. A wonderful steal for the price. I'm telling you if you purchase this guitar for practice recording or performance you will not be disappointed. And at this price point you can get one for next to the couch, one for the studio, one for the camping trip, one for the beach, and one for the stage. And still not spend as much as ONE Taylor.
This 79 buck guitar was the biggest surprise ever! I really didn't expect much, and was having second thoughts after I placed the order. I bought the sunburst version on a SDOTD as a total impulse buy. I have several expensive acoustics, and I don't need a cheap guitar. But I have to say, this is a really nice instrument. The fit and finish is above average, with relatively smooth fret ends and a huge sound. The tuners, however inexpensive, work as intended and stay in tune. The sunburst finish is lovely, with only one small thumbnail scratch. The neck joint is well done, and the neck has a comfortable full feeling. Epiphone has improved the "E" symbol on the pickguard, it is made into the plastic, and not glued on and wanting to fall off like on the older Epiphones. The rosette appears to be painted on, but it looks good regardless. The bridge (rosewood) is solidly attached to the top, with no lifting or gaps. The body has a white plastic binding front and back that is well executed. The rosewood fretboard is attractive with nice grain. And the sound! This guitar has a huge, loud sound for a laminate guitar. Tomorrow I plan to replace the original strings with some quality mediums, which can only make it sound even better. One odd feature is a false truss rod cover, held in place with three wood screws. There is nothing under it! The access to the truss rod is inside the sound hole. I did have to remove some glue from around the truss rod adjusting nut inside the guitar. Quite frankly, the quality and sound of the Epiphone just blows me away! If I had to sell all of my other acoustics and only keep this one, I would be content. It's that good!JimmyJ

Good quality. Made well. Had to get use to wider nut for my fat fingers, but that was expected. Action was good, only took a slight adjustment to meet my preferences. Frets are new so I'll polish them when I change the strings. The only draw back is the volume knob gets in the way when strumming fast. A low profile knob or a wheel recessed under the pick guard would be better. All in all, I recommend for good value.firedog970mark
I am a bit of a Gretsch fan though I would not write something I did not feel from the guitar or try to make it sound better than it was BUT this guitar is already well played, it has a great Gretsch Growl and can be used for various music styles. I play rockabilly, rock n roll, country, blues and try some other styles as well, this guitar seems to fit in with all of them which is a bit unique as other guitars I have I would not dream of using for anything other than rockabilly or rock n roll. I find this archtop to be versatile and with a great sound that can be easily altered to suit my playing needs…be it just by putting it through my amp or retuning to a different setup. I am rating it based on the price point expectations I had before ordering. It is a really great guitar. You have to expect that it will come with some defects and issues. Small paint/binding issues, some glue and wood chips loose inside the guitar that I took out. The guitar wasn?t set up well on arrival. I did a string change and truss rod adjustment to get rid of some fretting out on the first fret. The components are cheap, input Jack was broken shortly after my first show with it. The guitar itself is solid! Well built, stays in tune. Neck is very thick. I would purchase another even with issues. I wasn?t expecting a perfect guitar just something that I can play hard and maybe replace some components down the road.Cory
Very nice looking guitar. Set-up pretty well out of the box with fret ends nice and smooth. Needed slight intonation. Unfortunately the shipper basically smashed the box and the three-way toggle switch was damaged and not functional. Rather than send the guitar back I pulled out the switch and was able to repair it. Finish around the switch hole (under the retaining ring) was slightly damaged/cracked and had to repair that as well. The guitar plays and sounds quite nice and other than a small kink in the binding where it joins the neck (smooth and under the finish) it is a pretty guitar. Has a minor rattle somewhere that I can't locate (not string buzz), but doesn't come through when amplified. All in all, I am happy with it and its well worth the price.Michael
This is a nice guitar. It?s well made, has a beautiful charcoal burst gloss finish, and has the wonderful mellow sound of a semi-hollowbody guitar. The blacked out hardware is a nice touch. I learned about this guitar from the guitar gear bloggers on YouTube. They ALL gave it great reviews. Some of the older reviews mentioned that the fret ends needed more polishing, and there was some nitpicking about the size and font of the Indio logo. More recent reviews indicate that these issues have been addressed. MY Indio guitar has polished fret ends and it APPEARS to me that the logo is a bit smaller. The fit and finish are EXCELLENT, so perhaps Monoprice has listened to customer complaints and has tightened up their QC. The BIG news here is the PRICE. EVERYONE, myself included, is STUNNED by how INEXPENSIVE this guitar is. The $250 list price is a STEAL! I was excited about getting this guitar because I am so impressed with the Idyllwild acoustic I purchased last year. I was very disappointed with this Boardwalk hollow body electric. Almost all frets had sharp unfinished ends that needed to be filed and polished. The nut was improperly cut for the strings making it impossible to stay in tune. The pick guard was attached with oversized screws that were not properly tightened because they were too long. Needless to say intonation had to be adjusted. No amount of truss rod and bridge adjustment would clear some fret buzz when set to normal string height at the 12th fret. If this guitar went through your California set-up shop someone should be looking for a different career. The general fit and finish is pretty good and the electronics seem to be ok. I’ve been playing, maintaining, and repairing guitars for over 50 years and was able to make this guitar playable. If someone without my knowledge would have returned it as unplayable.Larry

I love this Casino. I knew I wanted a P-90, and I really wanted a fully hollow body. I wanted to see if I could replicate a I've been agonizing over the purchase for months, looking for every possible solution, and was almost ready to pull the trigger on the Epi USA version, and after MUCH research, finally decided to go with the regular Epiphone. The construction, from everything I read, is excellent, and I knew that if necessary, I could always switch out the pups. Well, I can't say enough about how good this guitar is! I am extremely fussy on setups (I do setups on my own guitars and for other people) and this thing was ready to play right out of the box! I literally didn't touch a thing except to tune it up. I won't even have to dress the frets. I may touch them up just a bit (again, I'm really fussy) but they feel better than most guitars that cost three times as much. It is really beautiful. I love the vintage sunburst. The finish is flawless. Now for the important part – it plays like a dream. The neck profile is extremely comfortable. I can move up and down the neck as fluidly as on any guitar I own. And the sound! I was amazed at how present it is, even before plugging it in. I see this little sweetheart spending a lot of evenings on the couch with me. Soft enough not to overly bother my wife, but again – very present. Plugged in – well lets just say I won't be replacing these pups. It is exactly the sound I was hoping for. I'm no Grant Green, but I can certainly understand why he loved this guitar. Would I recommend it? Heck yeah! Country? Check. Classic rock? Check. Rockabilly, surf, blues and even jazz? Check, check, check, and check.Jess
This thing is easily worth 4 times the price. The build quality is impeccable. The binding is perfectly flush, the finish is beautiful and evenly applied and the intonation was extremely close out of the box (I only had to move the G string saddle back a bit to set it, all the other strings were perfect). The headstock has a nice molded profile to the sides – this is something I haven't seen on other Epiphone guitars. The PRO p90 pickups are fantastic. I have 11 other electrics from an epi 335 to a Gibson Les Paul Traditional to modded teles and strats and I never could quite find that classic clear tone with a thick rich drive when you dig into it that I've been looking for – this Casino has that sound! Every website/listing likes to talk about the Beatles… that comparison doesn't speak to what this guitar is capable of. This is more in line with Gary Clark Jr., The Black Crowes, Jack White and The Allman Brothers Band sounds. Think rich, bluesy rock. It's much cooler than "the Beatles guitar". Plug this sucker into a Vox and you're in business. The C shape neck is very comfortable- it has a flat back with rounded sides. Plus, with the satin finish your hand moves more freely up and down the neck. It's nice to play unplugged too, it's fully hollow so it plays/sounds like a quieter acoustic unplugged. The knobs/pots are really cool looking and work great with no scratching. They have even adjustments – no quick falls after a certain number like you see with others in this price range. They have a cool old school tab to show where you are on the dial (no pictures show this little detail). All in all – super cool vintage vibe, sweet clean tone with a fun roaring bite on the gain – excellent guitar.
Had the money to buy any guitar in the shop. Liked the looks of the SG, worn ebony with rosewood fingerboard and the Gibson speed knobs. Having only played guitars with 9.5 radius, I found the 14 radius was better for bar chords. The craftsmanship is excellent, can find no flaws the body or neck. The truss rod was out of adjustment, considerable back-bow. I fixed that, and set the action low. The intonation was spot on. Frets were polished with no sharp edges. I plan to upgrade the cheap electronics with new pots. As for the pickups, they sound ok. Since I use a modeling amp, not a big issue for me. The nut is a GraphTech synthetic bone. Nice touch for an inexpensive guitar, since i do not like changing them out…too much risk of damage. I have fender Strat and Tele, but have not put this down since purchasing it. Once I upgrade the electronics, this will be a very solid guitar.Jeff

It's an Ibanez. I am a long time Ibanez fan. Even when they started the Artcore series. I own for PRS CU24's; American Fender Strat Deluxe and Tele; Les Paul elegant and Explorer. Except when I'm playing with our group I'm usually on one of my Ibanez. If they are lower end units like this I expect to change the electronics, nut and tuners. I did the tuners and had planned on installing Seth Lovers. Mean while I put some A4 magnets in the pickups and… NO SETH LOVERS! I love the tone, the responsiveness/sensitivity. See can be smooth as silk with the volume back or nice and crunchy @ 10. Pinch harmonics reach out and grab you in a nice way. Other than the tuning pegs, nut and strap locks she'll stay this way for at least a while. I got her for the color (I'm not into green guitars or fade finishes but she caught my eye for some reason) and what a friend "the Pickle" has become.Mondron
If you want a good looking semi-hollow body guitar that plays and sounds OK, this is probably the best value for money guitar out there. You still get what you pay for, but i think Ibanez has found a good balance in that regard. Craftsmanship : It looks amazing and sounds great for such a cheap guitar. Of course there are some features that could be better, but none of these really affect the looks, playability or sound of the guitar. Sound : the pickups are a little hot and punchy for me, but for a pair of cheap pickups they sound pretty good. They give plenty of output for a good fuzzy sound but also sound reasonably good clean. This guitar can handle a solid rock sound and a decent clean sound as well. A little bright maybe, but you have the individual tone controls to remedy that if you wanted to. Plenty of sustain too. Neck : If you're coming from a Fender electric guitar it could take a little getting used to the smaller scale length, the bigger radius of the fretboard and the smaller string spacing. But nothing dramatic. I would think this is the perfect beginner guitar for those reasons. The neck profile feels good to me. All in all a great guitar for the money.
This is an extremely nice guitar, especially for the price. Great action, set-up, and play-ability straight out the box. Humbucker pickups are nice and warm, giving a nice "dark" tone to the guitar (strong bass and mid-tones) to my ears. Good variation of range of tone from the bridge and neck pickups and so is quite versatile. Lovely overtones/ harmonics going through a Blues Driver into an Orange Micro Terror — you can rock with this! — and the guitar combined well with a Roland Jazz Chorus 22 cancelling out some of the brightness of this amp. Quality of components and finish is very good. It's also a light guitar in terms of weight, so it's a practical instrument to play on stage, especially if you have a long gig — and are starting to get on a bit, like me. Of course, it's green, which might put people off, I guess… Then again, it's very eye catching and people won't miss it on stage! In summary, a great guitar at a great price that provides a different blues or jazz tone in addition to your other instruments.Damian F.

This is by far the best Prestige Japan Ibanez guitar that someone can get for these money. Craftmanship is awesome with not a single spot. Top quality control and excellent presales experience and preparation/inspection from MusicStore.de. Delivery time lightning fast! This instrument is ideal for long practice due to the neck profile. Also is is very light and sounds awesome right out of the box with no set up. Very versatile pickups for lead playing with some tweaking you can play from metal/fusion/rock shred. I am so happy for this purchase, never had an Ibanez prestige before.
I have two other Prestige RGs (7 and 8 string), but wanted to go back to basics and get a hardtail 6-string. To me, Ibanez Prestige is the best value you can get for your money – sure they are expensive, but the quality is superior to Pro level Jacksons sold at comparable prices – the only thing in my experience that comes close is USA Fenders. This guitar is no exception. The build quality is impeccable and the hardware is top shelf. The neck is smooth, fretwork impeccable, and there are no flaws of any kind anywhere on the guitar. I love Ibanez Gibraltar bridges and Gotoh locking tuners – they keep the guitar in tune and the bridge is super easy to adjust. Ibanez spec sheet says this ships with 10's but I could swear the guitar came with 9's on it – which would have been my preference anyway. I play the unlikely combination of metal and classic jazz (different genres for different sides of my brain I guess), and was intending this guitar to be my metal machine. I was originally planning on replacing the pups with EMGs, but after cranking the gain on my amp I could not really see the need for that. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleans available by coil-tapping, and that sold me on keeping the passive pickups as opposed to going to EMGs – I felt I would not gain much on the high gain side, but would lose the "Fender cleans". While I prefer to play jazz on a more curved fretboard, like a Tele or my Ibby archtop, the tones on this guitar will get the job done for sure.Dan
Purchase it last year from GC. This is my 4th guitar and first Ibanez RG. I have Fender Ultra HSS and Gibson LP (which I hate – too uncomfortable and heavy). This guitar arrived in a nice Ibanez hard case, perfectly set up to play right out of the box. After having for more than 6 months now I've grown to appreciate it and use it for hard rock and metal, although it has very nice clean tones as well. The wizard neck is different (thinner) compared to my Fender Ultra Strat HSS, which takes a bit to get use to. The finish and build quality is excellent. Fretboard is amazing. I highly recommend this guitar.John

While I was waiting for this guitar to arrive, I kept reading the many reviews about this guitar on the internet. While they were almost all positive, a tiny few people complained about little flaws in the fit and finish of this guitar. I figured that in the the worst case scenario I could send it back and upgrade to an AM 153 if the AM 93 wasn't satisfactory. Upon receiving the guitar I inspected it top to bottom. It was basically flawless. The binding looks perfect, no chips or voids. The neck was very comfortable and the frets were nicely dressed. The guitar was beautiful. The AM 93 sounds great with these pick ups and I knew right away that this was a keeper. I bought this initially to set up as a smaller bodied "jazz box" with heavier gauge flatwound strings. My "problem" now is that it sounds so good for blues/ rock with the lighter gauge strings that I might need another guitar to set up with the flatwounds! Eventually, I will probably change the tuning keys. These hold tune fine but a sweet guitar like this deserves silky smooth top of the line tuners. This is the 23rd guitar in my collection, and I am blown away by what the Chinese are able to accomplish in 2017. In the past Chinese guitars suffered the same reputation as Japan's earliest efforts. Just like Japan, they have made a determined effort to become a world class builder of electric guitars. They've succeeded. The quality, fit and finish of this guitar is outstanding, and I have paid twice as much for new American made guitars and received much lower quality in the last 10 years. The pickups are especially noteworthy. I almost always upgrade my humbucker pickups to a major manufacturer's " '59 " model for tone and reliability. The reliability of these pickups remains to be seen, since it usually takes years of sweat and vibration to judge the toughness of a set of pickups, but the tone is all there. The tone is comparable to ones that came out of Michigan in the late 50's and early 60's… snappy, plenty of treble and "bite", harmonic overtones that bloom nicely when overdriven. These are less likely to feedback, which is not a plus if you like to use feedback to increase sustain (ala Santata or EVH). It's my feeling that having a decreased tendency to feedback is sort of a plus in a semi hollow guitar. They can get a little unruly at stage volumes. The only possible downsides to this guitar are that the gold plating on the hardware looks a little cheap, and I would not be surprised if it wore off to the underlying brass and aluminum the way "gold" hardware on Asian guitars has a way of doing. Another possible issue for long term quality is that the beautiful quilt maple seems to be a paper thin veneer. On a more expensive instrument, even USA made ones, the maple portions of semi hollow guitars are laminated. This actually leads to a stronger, more resonant instrument that stands the test of time. Since we can't tell what's under this veneer, it raises the long term reliability question. The tone sounds right!Jay38063
The CURRENT version, as sold by a competitor, has an ebony fingerboard and tortoiseshell pickguard. After half a dozen emails with the Hoshino folks (Ibanez America) I found out that my guitar was manufactured in Indonesia. The Super 58 pickups are also manufactured in Indonesia. They no longer make the rosewood fingerboard version because of legal/environmental issues. As well, you cannot get a black pickguard with binding, even from Hoshino, because they are sold only in EU and Sino countries, not in U.S. The nut chipped on the G string slot when putting on D'Addario Chrome flatwounds, 10-48. And some of the frets are not the correct height. This becomes very evident when lowering the action. I've had to file numerous frets and still get some string buzzing. I had to replace the 3-way toggle switch because it makes so much noise when flipping between pickups…so I installed the old Standby, Switchcraft. I replace the turners with Planet Wave Auto Trim Locking tuners and put the 3 ply black plastic pickguard that Hoshino sells and fits this model. It's now a very, very respectable axe and I'm getting nice, sweet, jazzy sounds from the neck pickup. Overall, it's VERY well made, it's beautiful, it sounds great.VonBach

It's a beautiful guitar but was not very well set up out of the box. The pick ups take getting used to being a les paul player but I'm really hoping it plays better with a proper setup because now it seems high and buzzes at the same time so I don't know. At least it makes good wall art…Randy

Très bel instrument. La guitare est impressionnante de solidité apparente. Elle sonne un peu folk mais ce n’est pas un défaut. Je ne sais pas quels sont les cordes d’origine, elles sont agréables au touché mais manquent un peu d’âme; Je vais en essayer d’autres dont des cordes manouches Savarez Argentine 1610 et des Daddario Nickel Flat Wound Xl 10-48 et on verra. La guitare a un manche épais mais le jeu est étonnamment extrêmement confortable! Incroyable! Même un barré en case 1! La guitare ne frise pas, l’action est basse (1,6mm case 12, Mi grave!) et ne présente aucun défaut apparent, bien qu’elle ait été envoyée dans une très fine boîte en carton qui ne la protège pas du tout (seule la guitare n’était pas détruite par le transport!) . Très satisfait.
This guitar definitely has the tone and mojo of the 1930s. The price seems good as similar in other brands go for over 1,000. But unfortunately the quality control with the finish are below par. For instance there was a piece of fabric underneath the finish. This is a guitar that looks great from a distance but up close The blemishes become apparent.acc321

I bought this item for my daughter for her birthday and she loved it, it came to our door on time, it was playable and very attractive, unfortunately a relative with a drug problem stole it within a day and we haven't been able to afford a replacement. I waited until I had this awhile before submitting a review. I was a little disappointed that the fret ends overlapped the neck binding just a very tiny bit. But it's not noticeable at all when your playing and I've gotten totally over that. This thing is absolutely beautiful, it is so fun to play, and the Seymour Duncans are the best. Never has such fantastic tones came out of my little tube amp before. Those pups seal the deal. This thing has more sustain that any electric guitar I have ever owned. Some people complain about the giant ornamental headstock. But I believe that is partially responsible for adding sustain because it adds a lot of mass to the neck.Dave
My wife got me this for Christmas, at one of the "Deal of the Day" prices. As someone with 10+ guitars, including American Gibsons and Fenders, I can't recommend this enough, particularly at the DotD price. Out of the box, setup and intonation were fine, the action is nice and low, and it plays great. No buzzes anywhere on the fret board. Great tone unplugged, even better with the P-90s when plugged in. Quality wise – it gives up very little to guitars costing a lot more. The tuners work well, the bridge, knobs, and switch gear are all totally fine as well. The Duncan P-90 pickups sound fantastic, and you'd be hard pressed to find a lot of other guitars with American pickups at that price. The nut is plastic, so if you were looking for something to upgrade, that would be where I'd start. The frets could use a quick polishing and the board could use some lemon oil – but that's true of every single new guitar I've ever bought in this price range, so nothing new there. I love the blue burst color, and the guitar is super light in my hands. I really wanted a hollow or semi-hollow with P-90s, and this really scratched that itch at a fantastic price. I wouldn't hesitate to get another D'Angelico after owning this one!Amir
My D'Angelico SS Boardwalk came with 4 wire USA Seymour Duncan "HOT ROD" pickups (SH2 & SH4). It also has a 24 3/4" (Gibson) scale, a thin-taper C-cut neck, a 14" radius with medium jumbo frets, and a durable 2 piece maple neck which is flawlessly finished in thin Poly (not nitro). The factory fret-job is as least as good as my factory PLEKKED Gibson. The playability is great, and visually (as you can see) it's comparable to the ES-335 (I actually like the sound of USA Seymour Duncan SH pickups better than Burstbuckers).Tim

I bought this guitar to check out a budget friendly offering from Yamaha. I have to say I was not disappointed! Excellent tone and volume, the top really resonates. The guitar was really well setup right out of the box. It needed about 3/4 of a clockwise truss rod adjustment, no prob. Other than that it didn't need any fret dressing whatsoever. That's really impressive for a Chinese guitar. Heck even one of my Mexican Martins needed fret dressing out of the box! Also intonation was spot on and this also is important in your guitar. There is a point of quality when an instrument reaches when it stops being seen as "better or worse" but rather just a different flavor. This Yamaha has reached that point. You can play it alongside a guitar costing 5x more and it stands up well. Yamaha is also one of those rare companies with a long history of top quality across all kinds of products, and guitars are an area Yamaha knows well. This is just a beautiful guitar through and throughout. You can get beautiful uncompromisingly great studio recordings with this guitar. I've owned many acoustics over the years, MANY, and this Yamaha is one of the best sounding I've ever owned. Went to GC just to check out a few lower end acoustics to pick up for jamming on, and tried almost every one in the room. Picked this one up last just before I was ready to leave, and immediately was blown away by the sound and playability, brought a couple friends to listen and tell me which one they thought sounded the best, and hands down this won over all of them. It has the tone and warmth of a Martin D34, which I have owned a few, and it plays like a dream. The neck is so sliky smooth, easy to fly up and down with no effort. It has amazing sustain and beautiful tone, I fell in love with it and just couldn't put it down. I didn't expect a guitar of this price range to sound as good as it does, got it home and I couldn't put it down. Played for 4 hours straight, and even after trying to put it down to go to bed at 1am I found myself playing a for a few more minutes before I could actually go to sleep. Love this Yamaha more than any guitar I've bought in the last decade. The best thing about it is, It gave me the desire to pick up playing guitar again, after hardly touching any of my other guitars for almost a year it's the one I want to play more than all of them. Two aspect to this . The guitar was delivered off the shelf, boxed . No set up before dispatch . So when I got it out of the box it was unplayable with a string height of about 3.5mm at 12th fret and the bow in the arm dramatic . So it went to a Luthier fir a professional set up And in fairness to Rimnerscthey reimbursed me that cost . The Luthier found the strings fitted were not Fender Duratones but cheap Chinese strings and the guitar was not an Indonesian made Fender, as most are, but one made in China . So genuine Fender duratone strings were fitted and the guitar now plays a log better than it did. This guitar comes with a good quality lockable padded hard case which in itself would have cost up to £100 so it is a bargain but I don’t play the case . The guitar is ok great for beginners and beyond and a good price . Ordering from Rimmers was simple and efficient and delivery first class . Very good customer service too. My only gripe is if Rimmers are aiming to sell a lot on line then have the guitars thoroughly checked over before dispatch after all it is a fine musical instrument your customers are buying and not a broom. I just wish these items were not made in China . Quality often suffers and they are the masters of fakery and poor standards . Why a company like a fender allows the Chinese to make these instruments is beyond me. My guitar had two to three imperfections in the finish too. But putting cheap Chinese guitar strings on a Fender and trying to pass them off as Fender Duratone strings is unforgivable and I’ve written to Fender about this .Graeme
I've had this as my acoustic guitar for a long time. Just recently upgraded, and realized I never reviewed it. This one is seriously worth it. Once set up, it plays very well and sounds as you would expect any dreadnought to sound. There were some minor issues in construction, such as the nut slot was cut a little deep on one side and they filled the difference with glue, but that doesn't affect how it plays. Would highly recommend this for someone's first acoustic guitar. I had a cheaper guitar before this and it just never played right. This one really helped me get into guitar. Even now owning a nicer, more expensive guitar, I still take this one out from time to time and show it some love.
The guitar sounds great. I really recommend it for an intrument in that price range. However, Fender had the great idea of putting a "free online lesson" sticker on the pick guard that sticks so well that it took me half an hour to remove it with a special glue remover and my pick guard is now scratched all around where the sticker was. In 2020, people still don't know that when you put a sticker that is supposed to be removed, it should be easy to remove. Don't use strong glue!!!

My son bought this guitar for me for Father's Day and I absolutely love it. I had been in the market for a Gretsch and played a number of the Streamliners at my local GS, but this one really did it for me. The set-up from the store was superb, low action, no fret buzz, intonation spot on. The sound both plugged in and acoustically is awesome. I love to just sit on my couch and play it unplugged. I am still adjusting to keeping it in tune with the Bigsby, and I plan on smoothing out the fret ends a bit, but overall I couldn't be happier. I can't get over how fast the neck is! Guitar arrived in pristine condition beautiful colour that changes in certain light absolutely stunning. Binding and paint job is top notch on here can't find any blemishes anywhere. Frets are smooth level and rounded at the edges well done. Hardware, tuners and Bigsby all work as they should no tuning issues to complain about even after some Bigsby use. Set up with nice low action no buzz. Plays and sounds great also sounds sweet unplugged nearly as loud as a concert size acoustic. Only complaint is the tort pickguard isn't to my taste, a black or white one would have suited the beautiful candy apple red colour better but this is my opinion only. Overall: I have the 2420T in Gunmetal and she is beautiful. I replaced the knobs with chrome G-Arrow knobs and it has a great classic look. Fit and finish excellent. A little buffing compound under the neck/body joint but no biggie. Bigsby is smooth and the hardware is decent enough and holds tune. I wrapped on some D’Addario Chromes and the playability is excellent. The only let down for me is in the pickups. They sound hollow and muddy. I have to really do a great deal of knob twiddling on my guitar and amp to get it to approach what is termed “that great Gretsch sound”. I’m gonna try a lighter round wound set of strings to see if that helps, but the flat wounds have always sounded great on my Filter’tron equipped Gretsches. Overall a nice guitar with pickups that just aren’t as good as they should be.

I got my Sheraton almost two years ago as a christmas gift, and I have played it more than any of my other guitars since then! It is a fantastic semihollow that feels perfectly suited to my playing style and my size (I'm 6'0"). It is comfortable to play sitting down or standing up, but I must say that for a semihollow, it is quite heavy. I love the classic twin humbucker, 4 knob, 3 way switch configuration. Usually I would use pedals to get my tones, but with this guitar I find myself just getting my amp to break up naturally, and play around with the tone knobs and volume knobs. I can get tons of different sounds that way, and I haven't used my pedalboard in a long time. My Sheraton in particular is quite bright, I don't know if all of them are like that, but mine is. This to me is great as I love bright guitars that can thicken up when turning the tone knob down. In fact, I keep my tone knobs turned down to about 7 or 8 90% of the time, and I turn them up when it's time to really dig in. I find that it can do blues comfortably, but it can also do hard rock and I even play fast Metallica songs complete with solos on it. When I got it, I immediately took off the not so great looking pickguard and put 11-50 strings on it. It was great out of the box, but I still needed to make a full setup just to get it to how I like my guitars set up. But still it felt too blingy for my personal taste, so I changed the gold screws on the pickup rings to black screws, and the gold knobs to vintage looking black ones. Now it looks so good that I sometimes catch a glimpse of it when sitting on my desk and feel the urge to go "oh yeah!" Some things that I don't like: the finish is quite plasticky and can get sticky after a while, plus it's not as perfect as I would have wanted. The neck has a very agressive thin shape that took me a while to get comfortable in, and still to this day will feel alien if I've been playing any of my other guitars. It is quite heavy, I haven't weighted it to see, but it is my heaviest guitar, and all of my other electrics are solidbodies. The pickup selector broke about two months in. Lastly, the split coils feel a bit useless to me, and the volume knobs have much less resistance to being turned than the tone knobs, which I imagine comes from the push pull functionality. But all of those are nitpicks for such a great guitar. I highly recommend the Sheraton. It is a fantastic guitar. Great sounds, great looks, and you get the classic ES-335 versatility that session musicians love. You really can't beat it at this price!
As with most people, I'm hesitant to buy guitars sight unseen through the mail. But with the current state of the world, that's becoming more and more the norm. Luckily the guitar arrived in absolutely perfect condition and set up nicely. The Red is really deep and rich. I know it's cliche, but the pictures really don't do it justice. I've been on a quest all these years for a guitar with a neck that properly fits my small hands and extremely short thumbs (nearly impossible to roll my thumb over the top of the neck ala Hendrix). I was torn between the Sheraton and the Casino, but decided on the Sheraton. When the next 48 month 0% promotion rolls around I may get the Casino as well. The tone of the Sheraton is very surprising for this price range. I also own a Clapton Strat (almost 3 times the price), and I absolutely enjoy the sound of the Sheraton more, as hard as that might be to believe. Obviously that is subjective. However, the place the Sheraton really shines for me is the neck! It fits my hands better than any other guitar I've ever played. Rolling my thumb over the top still isn't an easy proposition, but at least it's in reach (no pun intended), and with some practice I'll eventually get there. On the Strat it was impossible. I mainly play on the neck pickup, and it has a nice creamy, warm sound combined with my Blues Deluxe Reissue. I've never owned a 335 type guitar, as I always thought they were for jazz, but this guitar is very versatile. It's still a crapshoot with ordering through the mail, but I highly recommend the Sheraton if you (like me) can't afford a Gibson.Patrick B
Overall: Ive had this guitar a little over 24 hours now and cant put it down!! I got the blemished wine red model and the only blemish it had was a smidge of paint got on the binding where it meets the neck, i mean you had to really look close to see it and zZounds being the grandslam hitters that they are knocked 100 bucks off the price!!!I recieved it in a 1 1/2 days ( doesnt get any faster than that) and straight out of the box the action was perfect the intonation was spot on! The D string was maybe a cent out of tune. The guitar in wine red with the gold hardware is visually stunning, build quality you ask? Its built like a tank from the grover tuners, bone nut, loctone bridge and tail piece with a 3 way toggle you can litterally abuse and the probuckers sound amaZzing in full humbucker and coil split. This is a 1,000 + quitar with an intermediate price tag! Got to take a minute to shout out to the guys and gals at zZounds this is the third guitar that ive bought from them and they just keep knockin it out of the park!!! I will never shop for a guitar any where else you guys are first ballad hall of famers all the way!!! If your sick of the used car salesman approach and being followed around the lot, zZounds is the answer, they are the most professional ive ever dealt with period. This guitar seems to be well built and has a nice deep sound. I’ve only had it for about 30 days, but I play it frequently for hours each time. I am excited everyday to play it during my breaks or when I am at home. The tuner is convenient, the controls are clear and the glossy finish is attractive. I took the guitar to GC for a truss rod adjustment which lowered the action. Frets and fingerboard are all up to par. Not much else to say. This is a good mid-level beginner’s guitar. Guitar is the third instrument that I am learning, after piano and drums. I look forward to playing this guitar during my breaks, at work, and when I come home. Most cordoba acoustic electric models are smaller than the standard 2 inch nut width. I teach music at a school who has the non-electric version, so it took a bit of time getting used to this. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase. I know that I can grow into this guitar, and if necessary I can “upgrade” if I become really good and dedicated. But in the meantime, I am content with enjoying the journey.Brian
I have had this guitar over 5 years. The Suarez high tension strings give it a clean sound. Warm bass string and higher treble strings. The guitar looks great and holds sound longer then some of the guitars I own in this price range. Plan to stick with Cordoba is I ever upgrade. Also enjoy the cutout and pickup. After you change your strings it does take 1-2 days before your strings tighten and settle. This is due to the high tension.Eloy
I purchased this guitar about 3 weeks ago and wanted to wait to give a review until after I'd played it for a while… turns out my first impressions were really accurate — this is an excellent guitar! The C4-CE is well-built, beautiful, and sounds warm and full. The frets are smooth, and overall this guitar seems better-constructed than some more expensive nylon-string models that were available at my local GC. This is my first nylon-string guitar, though I have played acoustics for nearly 20 years. I did a lot of research prior to purchasing the C4-CE, and the sound, quality, and playability are really exceptional for the cost. The solid wood top resonates beautifully and I think the volume is great for nylon strings. I really look forward to owning and playing this guitar for years to come! (Plus, it's beautiful!)Ann V.

This guitar has a great neck, a hair wider than a typical Gibson, with a low-friction finish, and nice relatively small frets (none of that "jumbo" nonsense). I've got it set up almost dead flat and there's no fret buzz, with monel 13s for strings and the bridge adjusted to give about 2.5mm clearance at the 12 fret (heavy swing strumming). However, the nut was cut too high, so barring at the first fret is tough. I'll get around to that eventually. Some more negatives: 1. The pickup vibrated sympathetically while playing, and emitted some terribly annoying buzzes. I corrected this by removing the pu cover and bedding the guts in felt. This cured the buzz but had the side effect of reducing some acoustic volume and high end. 2. One of the feet of the bridge is not well-contoured to fit the body, so that's another project to tackle. I'll probably replace the whole thing with rosewood. 3. The metal "tone" label fell off the tone knob. I had to reglue it. Still, for the low, low price I paid, I'm quite satisfied.Miles
I walked into a local music store today just to check out the toys. I had no intention to purchase anything. I just like to look. I was forbidden by the family from buying anymore gear. Oops. I started out looking at amps. I could sneak one of those past the family. They only notice new guitars. After I plugged in a few guitars to test out the amps, I notice the Godin 5th Ave Cognac Burst all by itself calling me. It was love at first strum and the amp was not even turned on. Two minutes after I turn the amp on I was headed toward the register. I have been playing for two hours straight now and only took a break to write this review. I found myself un-obligated, bored and holding a fist full of cash one Friday afternoon, so I wandered into my local guitar shop. With a new found love of single coil pickups I had been eyeballing the Gretsch and Guild hollow bodies unfortunately too poor to actually buy one. On this afternoon, however, I played the Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin. It was love at first strum. Mine is called Cognac Burst. The satin finish on these instruments is beautiful, and give it a vintage, played look. This guitar has a really nice feel in terms of the neck and the thickness of the body. I have fairly long fingers and the neck is comfortable to play. It feels to me, a bit like the thicker necks on the Les Pauls of the late 50s. When I got the guitar, the shop said they'd dial it in for me for free, but frankly, I have no complaints as it is. With the classic style floating bridge you can drop the action impossibly low before you start to get fret buzz. After I brought mine home, I did just that and it plays like a dream. The frets are finished well and there is a bevel on the edge of the fret board and frets that keep them out of the way if you're in the habit of sliding your hand up and down the neck quickly. The Kingpin has a warm mellow tone when unplugged that is perfect for playing jazz and blues. I also enjoy the lower volume of the guitar since it has f holes when I play later in the evening. Plugged in, the P90 kills and sounds good clean and driven. It also retains that warm, mellow tone when played without distortion. I haven't had any trouble with feedback as I tend to keep the volume a bit lower for small spaces. All in all, this guitar is a great choice and plays as well as my Gibson Les Paul and my buddies Gretsch 51… whateverSlowleadmccey

I purchased this guitar for my son who starts to learn how to play. It is a very cheap entry guitar but has a wonderful sound. As it has open pore finish, it has a little bit dry sound and may be weak in its durability. But Cordoba has found a good balance between sound and price. I strongly recommend Cordoba C1M to beginners.Andy
Excellent sound, finish, and feel. Perfect– from young students to experienced guitarists — sized right for smaller hands. Even the neck is slightly downsized at 1.88 inches, as opposed to a more standard 2 inch nut width. Enhanced by Savarez 500 CJ high tension strings, this instrument rings out very well, especially for a 3/4 sized guitar. When you order your Protege C1 (or C1M) it might be a good idea to order a set of replacement strings at the same time. I did. Don't be fooled by the 3/4 designation. Actually, the 24.2 inch scale length is not that far off of many full scale instruments. My Fender dreadnought has a 25.3 inch scale length. These high tension strings on this short scale guitar feel very similar to normal (medium) tension strings on a full scale guitar. I installed my under-the-strings pickup so I can plug into an amp in larger rooms. Sounds great!
