Purchased a Yamaha SLG200S and wanted an amp to go with it, as this part of the silent guitar family it was a no brainer. The size, tones, volume, software, portability and that fact it can be battery powered are all plusses, and it looks great with the faux tube glow. It's plenty loud and sounds great, make sure to use the software to really dial in the sound. Currently the only amp I own, as the only powered guitar I have is the SLG200S.
A great mini amp suited to acoustic guitars for private use applications in living rooms or bedrooms. The sound quality is very crisp and clear. There is a choice of microphone emulation to simulate mic-ing up your acoustic guitar. The signal from this mini amp can be fed into a PA or a mixing desk using the Phones output socket. This amp is not really suitable for rock electric guitar sounds like crunch and distortion. The Yamaha THR5 is more suitable for this purpose.Danny
I have looked at the Yamaha THR line of amps many times in various retail shops. Finally saw one on MF in open box condition. Thought, "What the heck." Looks and functions as new. I bought the THR5A to use with my acoustic-electrics. I wanted a small portable amp with good effects for small venues and home practice. For me, a solo singer song writer playing originals, this little amp is a true gem. I use it for effects support in stereo, the other line run through my 40 watt Fender Acoustasonic. For years I have used the durable Acoustasonic as my PA, monitor, and for my vocals, and my Boss RC3 Looper. The THR5A is used simply to tweak the sound of the guitar. The effects are very nice, lots of range to dial in. The modeled Mics offer enough variety to cover the 3 different AE guitars I use. (Carvin AC175, Carvin AE185, Huss and Dalton CM). I can even use my OCD pedal through the THR5A for playing blues leads over the Loops. I would recommend this amp to any player of AE guitars because the sound quality out of this small inexpensive amp is truly amazing. But remember young squires, the THR5A is a very low watt amp with tiny speakers, so do not expect it to support you in a setting of more than 15-20 attentive listeners!Surflad

This was a surprise. I was sure this would sound decent but I was pleasantly surprised at the control & versatility. With a Stratacoustic, very clean & crisp, nice body. I tried all the normal dang Shure's everyone uses but this was great with a Blue Encore 100. Decided to try my daughters Roland Aerophone, very good tone overall. This would work for a little gig or practice of course, but for recording it would work well & of course you can mic this in a larger club/venue. Overall a fun, quality & versatile little amp. I run a guitar repair business and needed an acoustic amp to test out acoustic guitar preamps. Also to play occasional small amplified gigs. This fit the bill perfectly. What I realized afterwards is that it also makes a wonderful rehearsal tool! Bluetooth connects my laptop to the amp for playing along with songs I learn for wedding gigs. The DI out goes into my Behringer 2-sided in-ear monitor amplifier. Much better sound quality than running my Alexa Dot speaker to mini mixer to powered speaker DI out to monitor amp. And it also sounds great just used as a Bluetooth speaker for music in my shop and around the house or on the back deck. And if I want to play along, I plug in the guitar!
I played with a Fishman SA220 Solo Amp for years, so I knew going in that the sound quality was going to be awesome with the Loudbox Mini. But nothing prepared me for just how good the sound would be. It really took me by surprise. As with any amp, you have to take some time to get the EQ settings right for the guitar you're playing, but the super-response 3-band EQ makes it incredibly easy to dial in your sound. I played a gig over the weekend and used my Taylor T5z and Gibson J-45 Avant Garde with the amp. They both sounded incredible through the amp! I was so jazzed. For that gig, I used the amp mainly as a reference monitor that I plugged into the FOH. It worked perfectly in that application. But truth be told, the amp really doesn't come into its own until the speaker's pushing some air. While it sounds great at lower volumes, there's something special that happens at higher volumes that's a little hard to articulate. There's a depth to the sound that isn't apparent at lower volumes, and you really don't get the full effect of the onboard reverb and chorus until you start pushing air. So I actually upped my stage volume a bit so I could hear/feel that effect. 🙂 Truth be told, I haven't used a microphone with it, but based on my experience with the SA220 and the general quality of the sound from my guitars, I have no doubt that this will be a great performer for vocals as well! What's really cool is that each channel has its own EQ and individual reverb. These are musts for a solo performance amp as far as I'm concerned. All that said, combine that great sound with incredible portability (it's about the size of a truck battery), and you've got a winner! But let's be honest here, it's not an AER. The bass response is not nearly as good as on those units. But it's close; close enough that if you're plugged into a FOH or DAW, you can compensate for the lower bass on the EQ panel of the mixer. It's also a fraction of the price of an AER. The value proposition of the Loudbox Mini far exceeds what it may lack in terms of sound quality as compared to a high-end system. Finally, what I love about having this unit is that for solo gigs, I now have options. I can use this unit for small cafe or private residential parties, then use my JBL Eon One for larger venues. I recently grabbed this beauty to use with my array of acoustic electric guitars (Gibson L-00 Rosewood, Martin 000-17E, Taylor 324ce, Breedlove Oregon Myrtlewood Concertina, and Breedlove Premier Adirondack/Rosewood Concert). I will especially need it when it comes time to play shows again, and I was interested in this amp as it has two channels (one for guitar and one for vocals). The sound is perfect and so true to the tone and nuances of each guitar that I'm mostly just mad at myself that it took me this long to get ahold of this amp. It is deep and full sounding and also has an excellent grouping of effects (the delay and reverb are stellar). There are more expensive acoustic amps out there (I own one of them) but this is the best that I've used. It will give you absolutely everything that you need to annoy your neighbors or to perform in front of a small-to-medium-sized room full of people.Tyler from Oregon
Overall I'm very pleased. Other reviews have covered most everything, so I'll just add a few comments. While I love the sound of this amp, it's pretty under-powered when used with dynamic mics or a passive guitar pickup. I have a Taylor 712 ce with a K&K mini installed, and it benefits greatly from running the signal into a LR Baggs Para Acoustic Guitar DI and Preamp first. Similarly, a dynamic mic like a Shure 58 sounds fine, but will do much better with a preamp of some sort. I prefer to use a condenser like an Audio-Technica AE5400. I also have the big brother of this amp, the 200-watt version. I like to take a line out from that amp and run it into the 100 for use as a stage monitor. The amp sound basically identical, so that eliminates the need for messing around much with the EQ – what you hear is what is going out to the audience. There's no tilt-back mechanism on the 100 but I find that a foam block like what's used for transporting a kayak serves as a nice support to lean it on. One other thing – this is a beautiful amp and deserves some protection. I don't think that Musicians Friend as of this writing stocks a cover for it, but ione is available at a reasonable price online if you look around a bit. Bottom line – this is a very nice little amp. Allowing for the gain issues noted above, I'm very pleased with both the 100 and 200-watt versionsNJKid

Pairs nicely with Epiphone Masterbilt acoustic-electric. I bought this to be heard at a small local bar where I occasionally play in a wood-paneled alcove that absorbs sound. This amp is highly portable and is adequate for a living room party or for the small audience I bought this for. The sound seems fine even cranked up, which isn't going to make the walls shake but loud enough to annoy the neighbors if you play late at night. It is sensitive enough to play at low volume in your bedroom and has a headphone jack. I play a variety of styles, flatpicking and finger-style, and am able to hear the effect of playing with the ridges of my fingerprints. (Not really a performance technique, but a gauge of how much sonic detail gets reproduced.) Not a gigging amp, it is good for when you want a small, battery-operated way to boost your sound. The reverb is a nice feature. The chorus is a heavy effect with no way to adjust it and I probably won't use it much. The "Wide" button seems to change the direction of the sound, but I haven't played with it enough to know how to take advantage of that feature. Optimized for acoustic guitar, I've played my Les Paul and D'Angelico hollowbody through it with fine results, obviously playing clean. I commented that this amp has good warmth, but I want to qualify that by saying it has good warmth for a low-powered amp with small speakers. Trebles are emphasized and lows are not prominent; still the sound reproduction seems faithful and not at all tinny. It sounds good. I am happy with my purchase and will keep this amp.c.z.fixx
Is this going to be a cheap plastic box with some tinny sounding little speakers? All the positive reviews must be over rated. I noticed the shipping box was kind of on the heavier side. The little amp is kinda heavy. The sound and tone is really nice. The weight must be in the speakers. I also have the Roland 5 watt Cube Street. Other than the Street has bigger speakers the quality of sound out of the AC is all as good and can get loud. The EQ tone knob does a lot more than expected. The chorus is either on or off. A bit much but useable. The reverb is nice nothing weird. Reverbs all the channels at once. I plugged in a mic into the vocal channel and only did a few words. It seems it would be fine. I plugged in my phone and tried the aux input. Nice. The stereo button works very noticeable. I can see using this easily at outdoor low volume gigs. Farmers markets, busking, acoustic jams, and even quiet coffee house set ups. Overall I really like the portability and the nice sounds out of it for a little package. Having recently gotten back to playing guitar and having my first electric with the need of an affordable amp, this was a great choice. I love the sound and really don't have to turn up the volume as it is plenty clear at a lower level. I like the features of the lead and rhythm options and you can adjust the sound quality in many ways. My only wish is a reverb and delay feature maybe, of course, this is a smaller amp and does exactly what it is described to do. For the price, I am truly enjoying this amp. Got the amp earlier than expected. Tried it the first day, didn't work because voltage is not compatible. it is 120V. Voltage where i live in is 220V. My mistake for not checking. I have the 120 watt acustic lead amp which I love. I bought the 10 watt for my grandson and I was blown away at how good and big this amp sounds. The tone is very good for a amp this size. It has lots of volume and sounds great. I will be ordering another one for when I travel and do not want to take my big one. My grandson is to young to relize how good this amp is but it will be nice as he grows and learns to play and he will not out grow this.Ken

The amp was solidly built, more than I expected. The sound was clean. The reverb did create a little background noise when turned up over half way. The chorus was clean. I left the tone controls at midpoint because the amp’s natural sound was quite adequate. Most surprising is that when I used it with my solid body and hollow body electric guitars, it sounded better than the two name brand guitar maker’s amps that I have. I prefer clean tones and do not use fuzz, crunch, distortion, or high gain signal disruption. I do use full chorus and partial reverb this amp and with it’s inherent excellent sound it performs perfectly.Keith
This is a tough one to write about. This amp has so much going for it. Its clean tones are much better than expected. The reverb effect is more than up to the challenge. However, the chorus effect is almost non-existent. It has to be dialed up to beyond "8" to have any signs of life, and even then it does not sound anything like what a chorus effect should be. I know, what many people would say is: what do you expect for $ 79 ? I expect everything to work as labeled and promised.David
I just got this amplifier yesterday and I took it through an hour long test. It is very solidly made, it has a genuinely good sound. I play guitar in church so I don?t need a lot of volume. I just need to be able to keep up with piano and light drums. It?s absolutely perfect for that. I play an acoustic guitar with a condenser mic pick up that has very high fidelity. The amp reproduces the sound very faithfully., much better than my electric guitar amp. If I needed more volume it has a line out that could go directly to the sound system. I highly recommend it.Tom

Below are two reviews out of five that mentioned hiss from the amp. Unfortunately, I ignored the warnings. They are correct. I received the amp today and before plugging in and with all pots cranked left (off) as they are right out of the box, I powered up to hear a very audible hiss. Not good. This is not a 60 cycle hum and has nothing to do with bad power or ground loops. It is amp hiss which cannot be rectified. I bought the amp to place in front of my couch pointing at me to practice at low volumes with effects. My ears are bothered by the constant unclean sound at these low volumes. If the amp had a mic on it for stage work, the hiss would definitely be heard when not playing and possibly within the music. I am disappointed at myself for not taking those reports seriously. I did so because I trusted the brand and because the design of the amp seemed perfect for my needs. The amp otherwise is really sweet. The effects are usable and the EQ is very sensitive with fantastic range. It also delivers brilliant highs and soothing warm low end. It is a powerful 20 watts and my baritone ukulele sounds wonderful through it. But the hiss … it never stops. It is never clean even with the volume off. I really wanted to keep this amp, but I will be returning it and looking towards a Roland or Fishman both offering higher wattages which I do not need, not to mention the much higher price points. The experience is a bummer but I have faith in MF's return policy and honest service.Scottie
I was looking for a small amp with some bells & whistles to use for all sorts of applications, but not spend a bundle. This model fit the bill perfectly. Unfortunatley all it's great features can't out-weigh the "hiss" sound all the other reviewers are complaining about. I took a chance and ordered an open box model which was noisy just like all the other reviews mentioned. MF sent me a brand new one and it was just as noisy. I am now awaiting a third amp hoping it's from a different batch. I can't believe that Acoustic would allow an entire crop of amps circulate with such poor sound quality. I have owned the Acoustic A20 for a few weeks. I am a long time player/musician. This amp is pretty good as a bedroom shed amp for acoustics with pickups. You can get a clear sound with enhancements, like more bass or reverb. Retains the "acousticy" quality way better than some electric guitar amp. I have tried it with Takamine classical & steel string, Eastman archtop & flattop. The amp provides a pretty good sound for all. Not enough power for an actual gig. I was not expecting that, so OK. No good for an electric archtop; too distorted. Biggest bummer for me: no gain setting/preamp. To get a decent volume from some guitars, turn this amp up to "10". Or, use an external preamp. Also, the feedback elimination works OK, two knobs. But, even with "level" on "0", the other knob still has a big effect on the sound. Just saying. Poor design there. Reverb is cheesy but better than nothing. Chorus same; adds feedback. Borderline useless. I like the amp for the $$; but it is not some pro gear. Good for light home practice use only.reviewer

I have nothing but great things to say about this amp! Perfect for the solo acoustic artist. I've been a solo acoustic gigging musician for years and this is the best amp I've played through. You get a nice rich sound from your guitar and I love the reverb effects on both the vox and guitar. The chorus is a nice touch, though I don't use it much. I've played Marshall amps almost exclusively so I knew they'd handle my guitar well, but I was really surprised with the vocal sound. A very warm tone with minimal knobs for a quick set up. It sounds great mic'd or you can run a line out to a PA for further EQ if you'd like. It's light enough and compact enough to throw in your car for a last minute gig. Great for small to medium rooms, mic it or line out for a larger one and get rocking. You won't be disappointed.CT
If you've been reading (and watching) the reviews, then you know this is likely going to be a great amp. However, even after researching it, there were 4 unknowns for me. These are now clarified, now that I own this amp. 1) Bass. Yes, it has more than enough bass. 2) Clean sound. Yes, when reverb and chorus are off, the clean (natural) sound is fantastic. As good as the chorus and reverb are, I think I'm going to be playing it "clean" a lot. 3) Weight. As you know, it's heavier than most amps in this category; don't worry about it. It's not bad. You can always put it on a small self-made dolly if need be. 4) Plug-In for the Footswitch pedal — what is it, and how does it work? The one that's made for this amp has two buttons: one for reverb, and one for chorus. Yes, you have to pay extra for this (and the amp is also a bit more expensive) — but worth it. Very happy with this amp. It is such a warm, fantastic sounding amp.B
Speaking from experience with various sound reinforcenent systems. There are many options here with the phantom mic power and even an rca input for devices (drums or other audio.) Other reviewers note the solid build and good looks. I have one in white. Marshall knows speakers and this closed back box provides wide range good definition, and good projection. Not box like. I have run electric guitar or bass straight in. I would think it fine for jazz guitar. Or use your choice of pre amp devices/emulators. Open Box blemish minus a 10% promotion, minus my Backstage Pass and no tax equals nearly half off. Then Fishman threw in an official beanie and key ring! I'd actually been surfing around for a used Fishman Artist when I stumbled upon this Open Box Performer at Musician's Friend. I could probably have gotten by with a Mini but hey, why settle for a four cylinder when you could have a V8? Factor in weight, size and reputation… I called in the order. The blemishes were non-discernible and I'm enjoying this amplifier. I play a Martin Dreadnought Jr or an Epiphone DR-500MCE and sing using a Shure Beta 57A. The Epiphone is using an LR Baggs Anthem since its original pup broke and the Martin has its factory pup. All sound great after adjusting for volume, tone and reverb with minimal feedback. Note to Baggs fans: the LR Baggs can really howl. I'm using a small practice room but its nice to know that I have the watts to go large. If this amp never breaks, it will be one of the better amplifier investments I've ever made.Loudboxer
I plan to use this amp for live performances in small venues. So far I have plugged a Martin acoustic guitar with a Seymour Duncan Woody sound hole P/U into this amp, a tele and strat, and a microphone, and everything I plug into it sounds very impressive. I got this amp because it has the midrange speaker and the Artist doesn't. They midrange was important to me for vocal production. I am not disappointed so far. I have played professionally since I was 13 years old, I am currently 67 years old. I don't remember every being more impressed with an amplifier than I am with this one. I didn't expect the great sound from my Fender American tele and strat that I get this this amp. This is my first Fishman product. Just received my Loudbox Performer a couple of days ago. Spent 30 min one night dialing it in for my Gibson Hummingbird, then tried it with the full band last night. It sounded great, and was plenty loud for an Americana band with a full kit, bass, electric guitar, keys, and 2-3 vocals. Previously I'd been running my guitar direct through the PA, and it sounded good. Switching to the Loudbox balanced our live sound better with the acoustic opposite the electric on either side, and it added weight & dimension to my acoustic sound. It made for a marked improvement in our live sound. I could hear and feel it better, it had more definition, and as a result I got into a groove right away. Originally I'd intended to buy a higher end acoustic amp and tried a couple. They sounded really nice, but maybe too hifi "nice". Pretty/slick/etc. What I wanted was an amp that sounded exactly like my Hummingbird but louder. I'd heard a friend play his $4k+ Taylor through a Loudbox live and was impressed with the tone, and when I tried it I was really drawn to the sound. The Loudbox comes very, very close to replicating the sound of my guitar exactly (after dialing in eq) – most importantly, it stays true to the voice of my guitar. It also has a weight/warmth to it that I really like. *Btw- I'd been concerned about the covering tearing because there are a lot of reviews noting that. I checked the covering on floor models at my local stores and it was a mess – but I believe Fishman took care of this some time ago. I’m a flute player and use the amp with an attached mike, as my instrument is not so loud when played with others. Additionally I add chorus for a fuller sound and reverb/hall, which seems to get me into a flow when improvising! I LOVE this amp!! I also have the predecessor THR10 and use it in my second home so I don’t have to carry it back and forth. It is weaker (10 Watts), but ok for indoor use. The newer THR30 is louder (30 Watts), can be played outdoors and has a nice wide stereo feature, which I use when jamming with recorded music from my iPhone.

I am a guitar player and an electrical engineer. I am researching the problem known as the hiss that is in the chorus. To date, I have isolated the cutoff frequency to narrow the low pass filter and removed the hiss noise. The next step is to determine if the stock filter can be modified. The components are surface mounted and may be beyond the average persons repair ability. I will publish the fix anyway. The amplifier sounds great! Consider using a chorus pedal. When I ordered this amp I expected to change out the tubes for JJs because if recommendations in the reviews I read. The stock tubes in this particular amp didn't produce any rattle and also provided plenty of clarity and bass. I don't sense the need to change out the tubes. This amp has more head room than my 1×10 2013 '65 Princeton Reverb Reissue Amp and I'll say its louder. The Vox Ac10c1 doesn't have a footswitch input installed onto it, if you want to switch from reverb to gain you will have to do it by hand as youre playing. The gain is rich, its a decent factory built in, the gain effect on my 4×10 2003 Fender Concert Reverb Amp doesnt sound nearly this good, if you buy the newer Marshall 20 watt tube amp or their MG solid state series amps their gain effects have a thinner, more static sounding than gritty sound to them. Vox amps have that more lush grit sound, akin to the sound we hear in the songs Ripcord and Vegetable by Radiohead (though Thom Yorke uses a turbo rat pedal) Haven't tried the Ac10c1 with a drummer, setting the Ac10c1 on an amp stand to project the speaker upward or placing this amp on a table should work just fine. The portability and light 27 pound weight are a huge plus if you decide on taking this amp anywhere. With this amp in one hand and a guitar stand and your guitar in a case in the other hand- you will be able to comfortably enter to set up and exit to load up in single trips. I originally expected to change the amp handle out for a leather handle but this vinyl handle is pretty thick. While playing through this amp, you can really feel and hear the nuances of its tube sensitivity while strumming and if you dig in with a pick, you can go from soft to really loud. The touch sensitive dynamics have been well calibrated in this amp. Again, the only downside is the lack of a footswitch input to switch between the amps good sounding gain and so so digital (not analog spring) reverb channel, no one seems to mention this. Everyone has their own effects pedals and loopers and what they already like to use so it almost balances out. I must say I actually like the sound of the gain on this amp. Again Im glad I didnt settle for a solid state Marshall in this price range, or the latest 20 watt tube Marshall which both felt and sounded lesser quality to me. I was looking for a good sounding portable amp. Glad I ordered a Vox Ac10c1
The Ac-10not only looks the business but it has since real depth and warmth to its tone. Clean – it’s bright and has the chime you’d expect. Turn up the gain and your tone breaks up but still retains clarity. Having the gain wide open and master volume down means you can still have the saturated crunch but not disturb others . Perfect for home use but would not be out of place in a small pub gig. Takes pedals will and with a multi-fix like a GT 100, if you disable the amp sim and use like a conventional pedal board, you don’t lose any quality of the AC10’s natural tone. A masterful amp and it even smells nice with those tubes cooking.Mark R.
Ive been playing 35 years and this is probably the best all around practice amp ive ever heard. Pros- looks great, sounds very good, cleans thump and chime, distortion can wail. Its loud for its size. Seems built well. Have had no bad issues. Cons- clean isnt near as loud as w the gain cranked up. No reverb. In short if this amp was 50-100W and had reverb and an external speaker jack id never play another amp. Good job VOX.jjsrvfan

I’ve known about these for years but never pulled the trigger until now, I wished I would’ve gotten it sooner. I ordered the Yamaha on Saturday afternoon and it arrived on Tuesday morning, great job AMS! I opened it and immediately plugged in my SG. I was very pleased with the sounds from this amp. After watching many reviews I thought I’d skip the clean, crunch and lead channels, I went straight to the Brit hi and Modern channels and I wasn’t disappointed! Studio quality tone and very responsive to volume controls on the guitar. Most importantly, this little amp makes you want to play – highly recommend it!
Overall: overall – maybe the best sounding low wattage amp ever. only small difference in sound between this & a tube amp. weak point is lack of features. they really skimped. twice the price of other compared to other practice amps that have way more features. you're really extra paying for tone here.pro's – * truly terrific tones* even if you have a tube amp that sounds good at whisper volumes (i have a 15w egnater tweaker) it's so convenient to be able to play this on top of your desk.* clean and modern settings are fantastic. i don't use the other amp settings much, but they sound great as well. the only setting i don't like is brit hi.* effects sound good* tap tempo* good tuner* the features are weak* pricey – other practice amps have many more features. they sound pretty good themselves (just not quite as nice as this). so if features are important to you, get something else. digital amps these days all sound not bad to downright good.* are the tones here so much better that it's really worth double other companies' amps? honestly hard to say, but this one does sound the best* can't save settings* one knob control of all mod effects is really limiting* can use the software to tweak settings and effects, but as soon as you unplug, you lose them* max volume on delay is occasionally not enough. usually it's ok. but sometimes, you want a little more & doesn't have it* as mentioned, brit hi setting not that great* the name "modern" might be misleading. i mentioned that modern sounds good, but, it doesn't have enough gain to get you into mesa rectifier range. you're going to need a pedal for that.A
Overall: I have been wanting to leave a review of the THR5 for awhile now. Prior to purchasing it, I had used a 10-15 watt Orange Crush Amp & a Blackstar Debut amp. Neither of those 2 amps were exactly what I wanted but for the price, served a purpose. I was hesitant on purchasing the THR5 because it was twice as much. I have no regrets. If you have not had the chance to try the THR5 in person, video reviews will not do it justice. What I was looking for was a small amp that had sufficient effects built in so that I didn't need to hook up any pedals during an impromptu practice session. The Hall reverb is my favorite and was worth the price alone if it was the only reverb included. All of the amp models sound great, although I tend to only use the clean channel or crunch. Crunch can be toned down to remain clean but adds saturation without becoming distorted. Another bonus was that with the included software, additional compression and gate effects can be adjusted via a computer. These can be set as defaults for when after the amp is unplugged from the computer. I have used it with pedals and loopers as well. Its built well, metal casing. Aesthetically pleasing to sit on a shelf. Extremely lightweight and portable. Honestly this is the best practice/bedroom/portable amp that I have ever owned. I picked this up for my son so he could practice around the house. Killer stocking stuffer! When the son is away the dad will now play. I started playing my Mustang Bass through this and it did the job. It's a small amp, not a practice amp. This is perfect for camping trips, rocking at the office or kicking it in the backyard. Oh yeah and you can plug in 1/4 headphones and keep the concert to yourself. It runs on a 9-volt battery or you can plug in a 9-volt adapter.SERGIO
Took a chance on this and purchased it without every playing it. Watched video reviews on it and gave it a shot. Yes, I know that it's small in size, smaller than a kids lunchbox but I hoped it'd produce quality sound and what I got was muddy sounds at increased volumes. It's not clear sounding and my goal to play through an amp is to sound good and I felt if I actually played this in front of people, the muddyness would make me sound amateurish. So, for what you pay for this, yes, you get amplified but it's not real great quality, unless you're a metal player because you don't get a clean sound from this. I rate this 3 stars because it's convenient to have a portable battery operated tiny amp that you can plug into and get sound from, however, the quality almost makes you not even want to play it.Jesse
This ain't no micro cube or vox. This less than 20$ & runs on 1 9v battery or 9v plug in the wall.(transformer not included)& Holy Friggin' Smokes does this baby perform.Monster overdrive tone & super bright, clean tone.Headphone input.Probably exceeds 60 decibels,which is beyond city ords. could get U a fine it's so damn loud. My Strat Squire sounds soooo Fender good out of this lil sucka & my electric/acoustic, sooo crisp.Ultra light to carry around.I've been using the JOYO mini,I love it,plug in,no chord,fun but this Fender mini is a bit more.More tone options and louder.I've yet to find out how quick it eats batteries. The JOYO burns them up fast.Get the rechargeables.Also the JOYO has an MP3 input.This doesn't. I run guitar strap thru the handle so the chord is like non-existent or U can old school it and have a 10 or 20 ft chord.So light it can be pulled over by the chord.These mini amps also pick up radio signals. When I turn them on I can hear radio stations at certain angles. So get 1 for the road.It's all about the fun.annoyingted1

I have owned this amp for about 5 years and I have done over 500+ gigs with it easily. I have other similar products that I use depending on the size of the venue but this is usually the one I go to first because it sounds the best. Most amps with seperate tweeters are artificially brittle and not very flattering to piezo pickups. The AC-33 is crisp and full but not brittle!. The looper is brilliant! The batteries last a long time but you get better headroom when you use the veary hearty AC adapter. The Feedback reduction is also very effective and does not kill the tone as some do. I use this amp constantly, it is a gig workhorse. For larger venues, it works well as a monitor and a line can be sent to the mains so it acts as a mixer on stage. The only thing I am not crazy about is the vocal mic input but it is good also, just not brilliant. You really need to crank the gain on the vocal channel to get the signal because it is a multi use input and padded for versatility. No points off for that. The build quality is Typical Roland- the best you can find. I would replace this in a second if it broke but it does not seem it ever will. It is worth every penny of the price, so buy it. Oh, BTW- I think of the series of AC amps, the 33 is the most natural sounding, not boomy and not brittle. It is GREAT for nylon string and other acoustic instruments also. I use it for UKe and Banjo too. Probably one of the BEST purchases I ever made.Mat G.
I am surprised how much I like this amp. I play it with a jazz archtop (a Gibson ES-175). Needed something for small gigs at restaurants and parties. I've tried a number of smaller solid state amps made for acoustic guitar. Most of them either sound boxy, or they color the guitar's sound ever so slightly. The biggest PROS: this amp delivers a very accurate representation of your instrument's acoustic voice when played without effects. It is the nicest sounding, most uncolored amplification I've found yet in an amp this size. Professional performance quality at low volumes. Also good, the battery performance. It really does go forever on 8 AA's. Get yourself an 8 bank charger and 16 rechargeable and you will never use the AC power supply. I forgot where mine is. The proprietary battery housing in the back of the amp is completely ingenious and impressively robust. Final big pro: exceptionally light weight. What a luxury. Now the CONS: Not loud enough for a gig with a drummer, unless he's playing brushes only. There are some battery amps out there by Crate and Roland that are louder, but they have a harder, more high-gain sort of sound better suited to a solid body electric. So you will also need a heavier amp that requires wall power for times you play with a drummer (if you want your guitar to be audible and still convey its clean, natural voice).mulho-james

Phil Keaggy's success with looping effects has taught me to bring my solo performances to greater heights. This amp has a wide range of settings to dial in whatever sound you need for various types of guitars and pickups. I was a little disappointed in the volume limitation when plugging in my acoustics with passive pickups- they just didn't have any punch even with the dial turned up, but that was corrected somewhat with an XLR>RCA converter jack to boost the signal. Also the pre-amp in the effects box I have does the same thing. It produced great tone and presence on an electric 12 string, classical, and irish bouzouki which all have active pickups. What really impressed me was how it handles vocal and instrument together. No feedback and plenty of headroom. I'm glad I settled on this model to meet my needs rather than some of the others out there of the same capabilities. The looper is another fun feature that allows you to lay some percussive rhythm down to play along to, or a chord progression to build upon. Another plus is its small footprint and light weight for portability. I plan to be using it in small rooms where it fills the space without being over bearing. It is a perfect tool for solo performances, but would probably hold its own in a small group as well.super-perfundo
I am very pleased with this amplifier. It is very small, (like a large lunchbox) and light. 8 AA batteries can power this or you can use the included ac/dc inverter. After playing with the mic input and plugging my Taylor; its obvious that this is the easiest to use and best sounding acoustic amp I own. Subtle nuances in voice and guitar are replicated so clearly, I forget which part is already recorded on the looper and what is the live part I am playing! No kiddin, its that good! Speakin of the looper, that is probably the best practice feature of any piece of gear I own. Nothing fancy, and 40 seconds tops, but it is falling off a log ez and really does give you enough time to lay down a basic track. My guitar has never sounded so crisp and clean, ambience/chorus on both channels are very high quality! Don't let the size fool you, this isn't a toy, but I guarantee if you get one, you will wanna play for hours! Few pieces of gear have ever been such a pleasant surprise!wdc27909

As an owner of both the Fender Acoustic 200 and the TC Helicon Voicelive Play Acoustic, I can tell you that this unit sounds better, avoids the unnecessary clutter of using a traditional acoustic amp with a footpedal, and is everything you could ask for in terms of an acoustic singer-songwriter set up. On the vocal side: the harmonies are spot on, sound super authentic and non-robotic, and the reverb and effects are superb. On the guitar side: seriously enhances the sound of your acoustic instrument and the effects and reverb are top notch. Couldn't be more enthusiastic about this amp!! Buy it!!!Osage
I have a Fishman SA220, and a Bose L1, with subwoofer and Tonematch. I can tell you this amplifier is a lot of fun. I've never really fooled with loopers and harmonies. This makes it simple, even for an old man. This is on par with the other systems I have. Only it seems crisper to my ears. Plenty of power, great tone, and effects I'll actually use. Not sure about longevity yet, only time will tell. So far I love it.Mark
The weight of the Singer Pro is the main negative point, so much so, I've had to buy an additional lighter amplifier (a Roland Chorus AC40) for busking which was under half the Singer Pro price and about one third of the weight. The sound of this twin-speaker AC40 amp was at least as good as the Singer Pro. Sadly, the AC40 has been phased out. Singer Pro weight around 15Kg and AC40 5Kg. To be fair, the Singer Pro has a Loop function and a Harmony funtion (both of which I haven't used). Audio Output seems very similar volume. Interestingly the Chorus effect on the Roland AC40 feels more effective and its manual says the Chorus is fed to one speaker with the raw ouput diverted to the other speaker. The manual says this allows mixing of sound outside of the amplifier. I agree. BUT both Boss/Roland . amplifiers are truly excellent but the AC40 has become my favourite. One last thing; the Singer Pro comes with a plastic footswitch …not mentioned so I bought an additional one.
