Unless you routinely play above the 12th fret, or really need the thumping bass of a dreadnought, I can't imagine any player at any level being disappointed with this guitar. 12-Fret guitars have a magic to their tone because of their bridge placement that a 14-fret simply can't duplicate. In fact, the original Martin dreadnoughts were all 12-Fret for over a decade because they sounded better and played easier. The ROS-06 is beautifully executed with a solid Sitka spruce top, mahogany plywood sides and back, and a chunky mahogany neck. You're not going to get solid wood sides and back in this price rsnge, so I can't ding it for that. The faux tortoise shell binding and rosette and an unexpected luxury look, and the lacquer work is flawless. But back to the tone. Everyone who picks it up immediately falls in love, it is just thst sweet. You'd have to spend 5-6X the money on a Taylor or Breedlove to get a noticeable improvement, likely from the solid sides & back, and then it's only incremental. While you can lean on it medium-hard before it starts to compress, it really is happier as a fingerstyle guitar, again, no surprise, so bluegrass pickers needing the volume might want to stick with your dreads. For the rest of us, we'll be very happy with this little jewel. This is the guitar you hang on the wall in the living room and invite anyone to play.LouieLouie

I was very excited to see and play a highly reviewed 12 string that costs pennies compared to my 12 string Takamine, Yamaha and Ibanez. Once I got through the box I saw the guitar had the look of some cheap pressed wood. The sound was as weak as a cup of Finnish coffee. The darn thing couldn't stay in tune to save mine or its life. How this guitar gets rated so highly MUST be a result of fake reviewers OR I simply got the ONE Rogue 12 string that seemed to be made by the Fisher-Price Company. This is NOT a musical instrument. It IS an instrument to make noise with. My edition was not worthy of the effort one has to put forward to learn and play guitar. One must have to have an instrument meet the musician at least half-way. With this "musical" instrument, you have to cross the block, pick the guitar up and fight against it to produce close to a tone that sounds musical. Best to buy a used good name 12 string guitar. Or save your pennies and get a Takamine or Yamaha. The latter will be excellent and cost in the $350 range. But a Yamaha will play forever and stay in tune. I recommend my Yamaha over my ash Ibanez. The former just has a fuller tone. If possible save for the Takamine which is on another guitar plane altogether. But don't buy a guitar based on price and/or name. I've discovered many of the friends I play with can't tell if their singing and/or playing is in tune!!. And yet, they own $5,000 MARTIN GUITARS!! Haha. Quite simply a waste of money. Be like me buying a red-green "masterpiece" oil painting, as I'm red-green color blind. But I DO have a good ear and this Rogue of a guitar is worthy of no one's money or effort. M.F. has many more-though more expensive-options that will bring the performer YEARS if not DECADES of playing happiness. Only misery lies in a 12 string Rogue guitar. Avoid.muskoxmike
Purchased this around December hoping to get my kids into it. As usually happens, it ended up being much more of a display use. I would imagine it was picked up about 12 times max total. It sat on display being ignored primarily. Still, by mid-June (in under 6 months) the bridge has warped and started to detach from the main guitar. I noticed this as I walked past it. The glue did not hold. Surprise though, because you can't just pull up a website for Rogue. I called Guitar Center for help to contact the manufacturer as this should be covered under their warranty. Guitar cCenter took my information and said they would forward it to their "contact" for the company and I should receive a response in 3-5 business days. It's been a few weeks now and I'm not impressed. No one called me back, they wouldn't simply give me an 800 number to call to handle it myself, and I still have no solution and no idea who to contact in order to make a claim on the manufacturer warranty. I am more than disappointed with Guitar Center's negligence to truly stand behind a beginner product they seem to offer a great deal of.Amanda V.
I'm so impressed by my RD 90. I think some reviewers are hesitant to give it the praise it deserves because it is an inexpensive guitar. I did a little work to lower the action and now it is perfect. Humidity and temperature changes cause it to need occasional tuning, no different that my other two acoustics. It has a full, rich tone. It plays easily. It makes me feel like I got a real bargain; I don't know how they turn a profit at this price.Charles

Never had a 12 string before so thought it time to get one and I'm really pleasantly surprised just how good this one is. The neck is a little narrow so great for my small hands but maybe not so good if want to play finger picking style. It came set up and almost ready to go, I just had to give it a re-tune (which is a breaze with the on-board tuner) and I was playing Wish You Were Here in about 5 minutes, just got to love that jangly 12 string sound. The body is a little narrower than a full bodied guitar (somewhere between my Yamaha APX and my Fender F1020) which for me is a good thing. It also came in a very nice Fender gig bag so arrived in perfect condition. All in all very happy with my purchase!
My neighbor had trouble getting his Villager in tune, so I brought it home for a look. Just a weak battery in the tuner. So I used the opportunity to compare his Villager to my Applause AE35. Both have that beautiful jangly high end. The Villager has a stronger bottom end than the Applause with its lychrachord back, especially plugged in. Both have reasonable action for a 12 string, though both will give you calluses in a matter of minutes. Overall I liked the Villager for tone, and the Applause for general industuctability. I consider the Villager a reasonable, though not amazing, value in a 12 string. So I would definitely consider the Villager alongside the slightly cheaper Applause and slightly more expensive Seagull (acoustic electric).Mikey Bikey

I have bought several guitars in the 100 to 300 range. I was surprised on the quality of this guitar and felt it was superior to many other brands in this range. From neck joint to fret polish & leveling and finish this guitar is quality except the tuners, however the guitar stays in tune and rarely goes out. The neck is not a Fender Strat or Tele neck so don't expect it to play like one, Its its own thing. It is not wide at the nut so if you need a wide neck at the nut it may not be for you. I find it fine and would not consider it narrow. The neck is slightly fatter than a Squire neck but it is still a C shape and a bit thicker as you go up the neck to higher frets. It plays great. Its set up well for Rock and Blues playing, neck adjusted with a light bow and strings set low (but not to low to buzz). Bridge saddles are stainless steel and this make the strings ring out bright and loud even when not plugged in. Intonation was spot on. Frets are tall enough to allow for string bending (there not super low). As regards pickups this is a personal thing. Pickups are very basic and do okay, one may want to upgrade them to ones own liking other wise there fine.pchapm
I was hesitant when ordering the guitar, but after I received it worry washed away from a single glance. I'm not good at instruments, I never played anything than doing ukulele club when I was a kid so I didn't expect myself to buy a guitar. It's delicate and beautiful, feels great to hold and sounds just as good. I do not regret buying this guitar at all, in fact I'm greatful that I'm able to own it. It's a beautiful guitar and really well made. I bought it for my 9 year old daughter and she loves it. I don't know anything about guitars as I'm a pianist myself, but her guitar teacher was absolutely delighted with it. It's definitely worth paying the extra for the upgrades. I can definitely see it lasting her as it feels really solid, and the knobs and twiddly bits etc feel really solid. I genuinely can't get over how nice it is. There are no reviews for this guitar yet so I will leave one. I just got it a few days ago and I cannot put it down. I have also had to tune it only ONE TIME these past few days, it arrived in tune(a couple steps down but I don't really mind), which I suppose is rare but it's probably because we are in the middle of summer here, and our weather and California's is going to be largely similar in temperature for a while. Anyway, I love this guitar. I heard it would look cheap, and it doesn't, it looks normal for a guitar which is great for me. The colors are lovely, light colored wood is something I really enjoy. So it looks beautiful in a simplistic way, which I very much like. It's nice and glossy, there's no dings or any imperfections on mine. It's very much a fantastic looking guitar, I can't say enough about it. The neck was great, there was no setup needed, no fret buzz and the action was great. The strings sound clean and good, they are bronze strings of the Monoprice brand, they are very very good and I have played other strings before. So I will not change them until they get old. They also sent a replacement of these strings with the guitar which I am grateful that they included. It comes with a little bag with a microfiber cloth wipe, a smallish strap, (works good enough for me and I'm a big guy), tuner, some picks, This guitar comes with a tuner already inside it, (which I did not know they would include) and it works marvelously, I tested the pickup and it was very good. The sound of the guitar is what you'd expect of a spruce top, quick, nice and trebly, and a bit dry sounding. I expect it will set in and sound more mature in the coming years. A very good starter pack. Through time, the the strap and soft guitar case will be upgraded to a strap of personal choice and a hard case for better protection during transport, but, they are fine for now. The guitar itself is of very good quality and could easily last a lifetime with proper care. The tuner is a necessary piece of equipment and the extra set of strings is a welcome idea. I believe this purchase represents the higher-end of an entry-level guitar package. One note about Guitar Center. We took the guitar to Guitar Center for tuning, fully expecting to pay a fee. Overall, the feeling of the store is that of the old style family owned business. It was refreshing. The staff won't steer you toward the "slower" moving stock like big-box stores are now doing. The kids were "blown-away" with the comprehensive array of instruments and of the staff encouraging them to "give it a whirl" even though they knew a sale wouldn't be made that day. We weren't charged for the tuning and we left with the staff encouraging us to "come back anytime". We plan to… In just an hour or so, Guitar Center established themselves as the retailer of choice for any further purchases of instruments or repairs. I bought this guitar online with high hopes, but got a seemingly used piece in which the knobs that tune the guitar were turning copperish, as if discoloured. Definitely got a used piece, despite paying full price for a BRAND NEW product. Very unacceptable practice by best buy. And on top of it, they expect me to go through the hassle of returning the product through shipping such a large item back to them and then get a new one. I bought this as a gift for someone, I don't have the time to keep returning and waiting for new pieces, which will probably also be used. Disappointed, never again. If you are older when you start playing the guitar, you might not make it to Eric Clapton levels of talent. That’s okay as he probably had one in utero. Sometimes I sit back in awe of him or Jimmy Page, and hear the notes and chords moving at a riveting speed. Both their hand eye coordination/hands, and mathematic abilities must be off the charts. They are the guitar heroes. Yet I’ve been quite happy with the Takamine Jasmine acoustic, which I bought for around $100. The sound quality for its price is impressive. A couple of friends of mine whom play in a band, believe it’s better than Yamahas that cost $50 to $100 more. I’ll trust their ears, as they have experience and talent. My neighbors are glad I got the acoustic, and with practice I’ve been learning some basic songs. It has been time consuming, frustrating, and yet so rewarding. Strings are easy to replace or tune on this, and it’s forgiving nature has helped with my self esteem. I won’t always hit the six strings as I’m supposed to, or mess up on the frets, but I’m pleased with the purchase of this.michael.r
For a lower end guitar, I’m overall impressed. You really aren’t going to get good quality without going a few hundred more, but for the beginner / someone who plays a little as a hobby, this is better than some of the cheaper priced ones. I got mine a few weeks ago and just started learning how to play. The sound of the guitar does sound great as is and I was able to get it in tune easily. The guitar itself is amazing quality. The wood finish looks beautiful and near perfect, not one imperfection that I can see. The spruce top looks great too. The edges are finished in black accents to match the bridge pins giving it a nice touch. The neck is perfectly straight and the frets are smooth on the edges as I move my hand into different positions up and down the neck. The quality of wood appears to be nice as well. It seems to stay in tune reasonably well since I don't have any other guitar to compare it to. Recently it survived the 7.8 earthquake in Ecuador and is now my lucky guitar. I am rating this product two stars simply because of the accessories that comes with the guitar. 1st I would have liked a bit more instruction on how to use the tuner. It would have been helpful to know where to put it on the guitar. The book that comes with it does not offer any information about how to actually use the tuner. (I now know that it goes on the head of the guitar thanks to YouTube.) 2nd I'm not a fan of how the Guitar for Dummies is written (personal preference) and 3rd the guitar case is way cheap. The zipper broke after only 3 days. I would suggest that if you planned on carrying your guitar around, like for instance back and forth to lessons, that you order another carrying case because this one is unreliable. Now about the guitar itself, I really like it. I am new to playing the guitar and I wanted an inexpensive guitar to start off with just in case I lay it down to never pick it up again. I would only recommend this product to a friend for the guitar itself. Accessories that came with it totally sucks. Oh and by the way it also came with an allen wrench that I don't have the slightest clue what I'm supposed to do with it. The guitar is not setup. I am new with zero experience in guitars. When i went to misic class, my teacher said that it needed a setup as tunes are not coming up correctly. I purchased this guitar for my 11 year old daughter. I wanted to find a quality instrument that is smaller in size, easy to play, and stays in tune. I have owned other Yamaha guitars before, and they are a great guitar for the price. The Yamaha FG JR1 did not disappoint! The guitar is easy to play, stays in tune and it sounds pretty good for a small guitar. The strings do feel a little heavy for a beginner. I would definitely recommend changing the strings to a lighter gauge for a beginning player. I recommend the Ernie Ball Earthwood Silk and Steel Extra Soft 10-50. I bought the Yamaha JR2 for my daughter as a Christmas present and I was surprised. I didn't expect it to be that good because of its price but WOW!!! The resonance is unbelievable given that it's not made from solid wood and the neck is so comfortable, perfect for kids who are learning. This is my third guitar from Better Music and they never disappoint me. The guitars are well set up and the packaging is unbelievable every time. I bought this on the 7th birthday of one of my twin girl. I was on a tight budget of around $100 and then I thought to speak to one of the representatives at SamAsh. After having a talk with him I was convinced to get a good guitar to start even though I have to stretch my budget. The Fender CD-60 sce is a quality guitar for the money. Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate player the guitar seems to be built to last. The solid spruce top and the internal build of the guitar creates a good sound that allows the treble tones to ring out, as well as keep the mellow low tones of a Fender guitar. The narrow neck, and thin profile allows for somebody with smaller hands to play it a little easier. As any new guitar especially at this price point, you can make some adjustments to help with the action and minor fret BuZz, but overall out of the packaging the guitar comes ready to play and sounds very good. Fishman and Fender partnering up in the pickup make a quality sound out of the PA. Remember there is better quality gear and guitars out there, but this guitar does exceed it's price point in the quality it produces.
First of all, this is a gorgeous guitar. It looks just great. It has a big, rich sound even moreso than other larger bodied guitars I've seen. The tuner works great. I love playing it. A few minor issues. First, I find the action high, & the bridge is not adjustable. 2nd, the complaints others have offered about the fret edges being VERY rough are entirely true: you can practically leave your hand bloody, I'm sure, if you play long enough, just from being roughed up by the fret edges. I'll try filing them down & refinishing them, as some have suggested. Finally, you'll want to get rid of the strings & go with a lighter gauge, partly to alleviate the high action issue. I'd get this guitar again. I think it is a $500 – $600 guitar lurking for only a little more than half that price. But before recommending it to a friend, I'd point out these couple issues.DET
Poor quality control! Neck is a mess with all of the fret ends protruding and sharp. One fret is noticeably higher causing all kinds of issues. Inside edge of the sound hole is poorly finished and some of the ribs look rough, like they weren't sanded smooth. This one's going back!Bill

Mine was set up great right out of the box (I did upgrade strings once I played the stock ones). The guitar plays better than my acoustic that was twice as much (open F chord and Dm are easy to finger on this guitar)-the more expensive guitar sounds better for sure, but this Yamaha FD01S is easy on the fingers and sounds decent. Overall, it's a no-frills guitar. Nice finish, very basic ornamentation. Things that matter, like action and sound, are fantastic at this price point. Treble is really gorgeous-very pure, resonation between B and High E is spectacular. Bass is adequate. Barre chords are easy-neck looks really cheap but plays fast. Basic guitar but with a solid top. I compared the Yamaha FD01S, the guitar in the gigmaker deluxe package, with the acclaimed FG-700S. All I can tell is, Yamaha cut corners on bridge pins, pick guard, and headstock. The rest of the guitar is identical. Maybe the FD01S has a lower grade solid spruce top, but even that is a cosmetic difference and does not impact sound. I bought the FD01S outside of the gigmaker deluxe kit: I have all the accessories already. My recommendation is trash the accessories and keep the guitar. Upgrade accessories and strings on the guitar, and for $250-$300 you'll have a nice solid top guitar with a nice strap and strap button, a quality clip on tuner, and a nice hard shell case (go generic on the case and save some money there). For the price, this is a fine guitar. You'll want to change the bridge pins, but even the saddle is great for Yamaha: compensated saddle-nice touch (same as on FG720s). Sound is good: great treble, good bass for nato laminate. Fingerboard is fine-frets nicely on open F chord, strings easy on the fingers, no fret buzz.
Great guitar!! a real Gig maker…. Deluxe!! By Yamaha!! The Standard is good too. I have been playing for most of my life, I have played with some very famous people. I teach, and damn it most students dont get honest advice about what guitar they should choose. This guitar is perfect for a student. I have one I teach with and Yamaha makes a good product. Ok, its no high end guitar, but it will play well when tuned right and sound real good after a few years. If the student decides to move up and improve there instrument, well they can put this puppy on craigs list and get most of there cash back. If it stays with them for a lifetime, well with care it could just get passed down to the grand kids… Besides its not the guitar makeing the music, its the person playin it… I think this guitar will be loved by the person who owns it regardless of how it plays or how it sounds.. In my pro opinion, its good!!!!!! This guitar was bought to replace a 1994 Taylor 812C which is also a great instrument. There were several reasons for the switch. 1) The 1994 is a 14 fret model with a 25.5" scale length while this guitar has a 12 fret neck with a 24.75" scale length. As a person with very small hands, the increased comfort and playability are substantial. 2) The 1994 has no electronics 3) The new 800 series bracing pattern (since 2015) and different 12 fret bridge position give this guitar a very warm and balanced sound. I bought (and returned) a new Taylor 712 which, by comparison, sounded thin with a weak bass. Check out a video from Gryphon Stringed Instruments which compares this guitar to a Taylor 512C and a comparable Martin and Santa Cruz. I've been looking at Taylor 12 Frets for a long time now but the money and time never seemed to line up for me. My wife and I went to Sam Ash to purchase resonator strings. While there we stepped into the acoustic room and I picked up a dobro to play around with. My wife spotted a Taylor 812ce slothead and knew that was the one I'd been harping about for the last five years or so. She pulled it off the wall and asked me to play it. I swear it was like pulling on a pair of comfortable shoes. It fit my frame just right, it sounded AWESOME, an INCREDIBLE VOICE from such a small bodied guitar. It was kind of dirty and the strings were dead, but this was THE one. We discussed it for a few minutes and before I realized what was going on, my wife was headed to the counter to pay for it. We got home, I pulled the strings off to give it a good cleaning and new strings. When I was putting the A string back on, the pearloid button on the Waverly style tuner crumbled in my fingers. I packed it up and went straight back to Sam Ash, approximately 45 minutes after our purchase. The sales clerk who sold us the guitar was still there. I explained what had happened. The manager, who was also listening to my issue, asked the sales associate to go to the acoustic room and see if there were anymore guitars back there with the same style tuners. He explained that sometimes during the production process these Waverly style buttons have microscopic imperfections that come apart like this. The sales associate came back to the counter with another slothead. The manager robbed the A tuner from that guitar, replaced my broken one, and sent me home with another fresh set of strings. Other than that issue, this guitar completely exceeds my expectations in all categories. I look forward to many happy years playing this instrument.david

This was my beginner guitar and it was decent enough. A humidifier is very important if you want to keep this guitar in good shape. The action tends to slip up around the 12 fret after a while, which is very annoying especially when you're trying to play blues. If you're REALLY into Dylan, this guitar is an ok choice to start with but for anybody else, I highly suggest you get either an electric starter kit or just another company. Yamaha is great at making a lot of things but if you're serious you should buy from a company that knows guitars and nothing more, nothing less.Monterey Purple

After allowing the guitar few weeks to adjust and giving it a good set up including new strings and a neck adjustment (tightening the rod), Conditioning the fret board and a good polish, The guitar is easy to play and has great sound for an inexpensive guitar. I like the So Cal green color others may not as it is a vintage vibe. Tuners are price point but even price point tuners these days are decent. A little sticking from the nut, I think I can lightly file that out and add some nut sauce. The fret ends were not too sharp but I conditioned them to a nice smooth finish useing 500 grit sponge. Very little cost to make improvements and the guitar is fun to play. The sustain is probably the biggest suprise and I am satified to practice with this guitar every day. Very pleased for the cost. Guitar is ok for the price; however, I was expecting the strings to last longer than 2 days before breaking. Even the extra ones that came with the bundle broke as I was putting them on. I had to buy better ones and had a professional put them on to make sure they were adjusted correctly. Additionally, the small tuner's battery was dead out of the box so I had to get a new one. The guitar did not have the black scratch panel that is shown in the Sunburst guitar. Also, when my son opened the gift guitar, the black bag was covered in a white mold/mildew. It was delivered one week before his birthday and kept in a dry room, and opened for the first time on his birthday. The guitar seems ok, I will know more when someone with some guitar knowledge checks it out for me. It may be going back to the store. I was looking for a good beginner's guitar, and I wanted something with nylon strings. I did a pretty extensive search in order to find an instrument that was relatively inexpensive yet had some degree of quality. I read reviews on this particular model, and most seemed to be pleased. I was able to purchase one that, I'm guessing, had been returned, and I was very pleased with both the reduced price and the condition/quality of the guitar. The guitar itself has a very beautiful and mellow tone. It stays in tune, only requiring minor adjustments from time-to-time. I would not recommend this for young people or those adults with smaller hands, as the neck is somewhat wider than one might expect. All-in-all a very fine instrument for the price.Swewpa
This is the best beginner/student classical guitar there is bar none. It's full size and the intonation is spot on, the tuners (whilst basic) are fully functional and consistent. The bridge saddle has 3rd string compensation and is set to a low-ish action. Putting a new set of EJ45's opens up the sound considerably (don't play with the crappy strings that are on it). Great second or studio guitar for the experienced player. Stick it in a half decent case and you'll have a fantastic holiday guitar for around £150. I bought this for my friend that wants to learn how to play the guitar. I chose this for him because it's a nylon string so it wouldn't hurt his fingers which I noticed that most beginners easily gets frustrated when the steel strings hurts their fingers and then stops learning how to play the guitar. This Yamaha classical guitar is sold as a 'student' guitar but it's also a great travel size instrument. It's affordable, stays in tune, intonates well and has a great full body sound even though its a 3/4 size guitar. The nylon strings are easier on the fingers than steel strings and are great for someone just starting out. This one arrived with smooth fret ends and played perfectly right out of the box. I have owned a number of high-end 12 Strings. This Fender can hang with them and some Twice as expensive and more! It was perfectly set-up right out of the box. Great action and play-ability.I am still Impressed with this guitar especially at it's price point. The strings it came strung with were not for me. It is The one thing that I changed and it just made the sound POP, the voice INCREDIBLE and made the guitar even more impressive. The strings I used are the Martin Retro Monel Custom Lights. It opened a whole new sound for this guitar. I have owned this now over 4 months and am still awed. For a twelve string it holds its Tuning even when I am wailing and using my Dunlop Brass slide. You really cannot go wrong with this well built and great sounding Guitar! Don't wait if your looking, pull the trigger and BUY IT NOW! You will have NO regrets, and with AMS's great payment plans what more could you ask for?!?!?Spikeola
Things I like: -Noiseless pickups sound pretty close to regular single coils but without the annoying hum. They may not sound 100% as glassy as my Tele single coils, but if we're honest, very few people will notice the difference and the trade-off for quiet pickups is well worth it. -One volume and one master tone is user friendly like a Telecaster -Comfortable body and neck -Rotary switch adds a nice boost to get closer to Tele or p90 when needed Comments: -First time I tried out the rotary switch I thought it was kinda of dumb, but after setting it up, I think it is most valuable to add some thickness when the thinner Strat sounds needs a bit more. I like it now but still think the lower settings aren't truly necessary. Makes the neck pickup more suitable for jazz and gets the bridge close to a Tele. -After received, we tweaked it but adjusting the truss rod, filing the nut a bit for a couple strings, raising the pickups to the Fender specs (3.2mm), adjusting the rotary switch so when you turned it the knob would stop and not just keep spinning when you got to the end of the options. -Make sure you unplug the guitar from the amp or the battery will run down very quickly -Never owned a Pau Ferro fretboard before but it's very close to Rosewood. If you're on the fence, I wouldn't let it put you off. In the end, we've got a very usable, comfortable, versatile Strat that sounds great! If you are looking for a Stratocaster that can do Strat tones and can get close to Tele or even Les Paul (maybe a bit far on the Les Paul but again, close is the operative word–there is no ONE guitar) when needed, all with noise-free pickups, then this is a great choice.Steve

Loved the look, price, sound, and feel of this guitar. Tried it out in the store and was ready to buy the floor model, but luckily I asked for a 9V battery to test the electronics at the counter. Oddly the battery port fits fine into the guitar when empty, but the moment you put a battery in it it will not stay shut and pops open rendering your electronics useless. Me and the sales rep at the front figured this was had to be a fluke and he ordered a new one to be delivered to my house. Four days later it arrived. I played it for about an hour out of the box without issue (set up was great, sounded great acoustic) and then I decied to check the electronics. Sure enough, the exact same issue occured when I tried to fit a 9V in the battery port. When a battery was actually in it, it would not stay shut. No tuner, no electronics. Ten minutes later I was back at my local GC. The tech inspected it an came to the same conclusion as I did after trying 5 different brand batteries to see if that made a difference- it's defective. He recommended I return it and try another product. In short it plays nice, sounds nice, and looks nice but if it happened on 2 guitars it has to be happening on more of them. I'm sure you could duck tape it or find a way to keep it closed but this should not be an issue on a $350+ guitar. 3 stars.Ryan
