Reviews:
Overall: If you are looking to add volume and low end to your 10 inch combo or cabinet, look no further, this is it. The sound is pretty good for either clean or distorted sounds. It may not have the "magic" of some high end Celestions, but it sounds MUCH better than most stock speakers that come in mid to low priced amps and cabinets. In my opinion the best thing about this speaker is that this is the only speaker out there that makes a 10 inch combo sound like a 12 inch combo. (and it really does) I had put this speaker in a Laney Cub 10 and had it sitting on top of a 4X12 cabinet that I keep at my friend's practice space/ home studio. He walked in while I was playing and thought that I had it connected to the 4X12,.. no joke.Lawrence
Sound: Solid sound across a wide range of frequencies. The Ragin Cajun has a warm sound as opposed to the more jangly British sound that it replaced in a Vox Valvatronics VT40+. A definite improvement, especially as the original speaker had died. The Eminence product has more power handling capability so it is a step over the Vox "Original" sound. Features: Well its ceramic magnet is good but is not light weight like and alinco or neodymium would be. Ease of Use: Easy to install. Quality: Better than original. Value: Fair price! Manufacturer Support: Did not deal with the company directly, but the Eminence website has lots of data and you can hear the sounds on youtube. The Wow Factor: It has more of a bite than the original British sounding speaker and is also much louder, so it makes it possible to gig with a 10" amp. Overall: The speaker should outlast the amp. We'll see…
This 10” speaker is what every speaker should sound like. Tight low end, mids are just right and the high end is smooth. Now I put this in a fender frontman 25R. Yes it’s solid state, but this speaker made it a great practice amp. I would use this at a small gig that’s how much I think this speaker made this amp beyond usable now. I’m an Eminence fan for life.Vjgreen

Holy smoke! I hear 'ya loud and clear, Electric Lightning 10"s! I stuck a pair in my Fender Custom Vibrolux (basically a hot-rodded '63 Vibroverb) which I have rebuilt to 1963 Vibroverb specs. Very true-sounding speakers. Extremely efficient, hardly any cone breakup, and super-tight with a very balanced EQ spectrum. They added significant weight to my amp compared to the stock Eminence AlNiCo speakers, but I'm glad I made the switch!Michael
Just replaced a mix matched set with a quartet of 10" Electric Lightnings in a Super Reverb. While they sounded tight at first, over several days they broke in like gold, both super clean or heavily preamped. The bass response is more round than ever, and with none of the mushiness I have associated many 10" designs. I'm able to run more low than ever and the low E string just sounds fantastic. They are stong/robust sounding, akin to the tone of 12" speakers. The highs really mellowed out and sing like I had hoped Overall the sound is simply huge, clear, and articulate at any volume. I would think any player will see benefits regardless of musical style. Great improvement and speaker!Brad

I had some old speakers from a bar. They needed to be reconed. For about the same cost as a reconing kit, I purchased two Celestion Pulse speakers. Unlike the bar speakers, these are intended for bass guitar. I put together a Baltic Birch speaker box and mounted them. So far they work. Little undue resonance. Good heavy magnets on these speakers.Daniel

Reviews:
I've been through many, many 12s for Blackface style speakers. These are my faves. For good 60s tones in country and rock with a BF amp these guys work great. Take pedals well. Not shrill or muddy in my experience. Solid surfy bass. Smooth treble. 120 watts which is triple what I would ever throw at em. For a Deluxe or a Pro in a honkytonk bar, these are just the ticket.edol9871
For me the tones of these are somewhere in between American and British. I use these mainly in a 2×10 cab for a fender vibroverb style amp. Vs the Oxford speakers these have a lil more mid focus and rounded highs that work much better with higher gain tones. I also use these with my Marshall origin 50 set relatively clean to get a slightly bigger bottom end than V30s.RockinJohnson
I bought this speaker in the 16ohm version to replace a v30 in my orange ppc1x12. I love the v30 but I mainly use a 100w Marshall DSL100HR and the v30 by itself couldn't handle all that wattage since it's only 60watts. So I decided to go with the swamp thang cause a little more defined low end sounded like a good idea as I play a 7 string ltd (fishman fluence pups) half the time. But I was worried I would loose the highs that we need for attack in high gain situations as well as playing clean which I do very often also. But now that I've played tgrough this speaker I can say that is not a problem whatsoever. This speaker has twice the highs and twice the lows as my v30. Probably a little less midrange but since it's such a powerful speaker it doesn't feel like it's relying on mids the cut through. Full disclosure I've only had the speaker a few hours and played through it a little over an hour but if it sounds this good outta the box I'm confident things will only get better. It's a great sounding speaker in my opinion that would complement any style/set up. I plan on buying an empty Luke 2x12C cab from seismic audio soon so i can pair the ST and the v30 which im lookong forward to. But in the meantime im in no huge hurry since the ST sounds so good by itself.Michael I.

Reviews:
I wanted to try my hand at building my own bass cab to complement my amp head and because I wanted a quality sound I decided to go with Eminence, since you can find them in a lot of high end bass cabs like Ampeg and Basson. I didn't buy these at first, I bought the B102's instead and was disappointed with the end product. There wasn't enough clean low-end, and, I tuned the cab too low to compensate for that and it was a muddy tone that came out of an expensive set of speakers. So a year later I tried it again, but, I bought these on sale (BP 102's) and also bought the Eminence compression driver; Horn; Cabinet ready crossover. I now have a 210 bass cab that sounds better than any cab I've ever heard. I recently purchased a new bass amp (Markbass Big Bang) and together they are a match made in BASS HEAVEN. In fact without the purchase of the new amp, I may have never written this review, I've had theses speakers for over 2 yrs. So if you need to replace a 10" driver or you want to custom build a cab, this is the best driver for the money you can buy. But remember, without a tweeter or compression driver you'll be disappointed.Jmac
Searching for something better in my current upgraded ESS AMT3's, I took a change on these after modeling them in BassBoxPro. All I can say is wow!! These speakers totally kick some tail. Clean deep, and don't loose their composure under high volumes. However the biggest thing is detail. What better to produce bass guitar/drums like a live performance then a real bass guitar speaker?!?! Luckily these go lower then most, pretty amazing for the price. I have 2 of these in the AMT3 stock, but braced enclosure. 2.76 liter. Heavily damped with 1 1/2" foam on walls, and 2 sheets of Auralux 2" wedge foam directly behind the woofers. 2x 3" ports, 6" length. That tunes the box to 36 hz. Don't be afraid to tune low, the lower the better. They still can handle a ton of power, xlimit is 10 mm. Never cam close because the bass is tight, clean and deep. Well controlled, but oh so sensitive!! Wow the detail of these woofers just blows my mind!! Nothing even comes close in normal "audio" woofers. Be aware however to cross over to the mid around 250hz, these don't do mids well. But who cares in a 3-way? A Alpha 6A, or larger mid woofer would be ideal. Enjoy while these are still a still!! Who needs expensive audio woofers that kill all the detail anyway?Mojo
I replaced the dead speaker in my old practice bass amp with this speaker and was quite surprised how good it sounded and was surprised that it was better than the original in sound quality. gave new life to that old amp and saved me the cost of new amp. Good solid output in a sealed cabinet down to the low E on my 4 string fender bass.hotshoetom

Reviews:
I decided to replace the co-axial speaker in an old enclosed keyboard cab and mate it to a Micro Terror for a portable jam rig. Reviews and pricing led me to the Legend 1058. After hitting the first chord, even before break-in, I knew I made the right choice! The tone is articulate and well defined. This speaker handles cleans as well as overdrive with single coils or humbuckers. After break-in it's sounds even better. This is my first experience with Emminence and would not hesitate considering them as replacements in my gig amps.Duff73
I want to thank the previous reviewers for excellent data. This speaker has balanced the tonal output of my Vox ADVT 30 amp and made it reliable to do set ups on my guitars that still sound consistent when I plug in to my Line 6 AX212 performance rig. The overtones are so even it's a pleasure to listen close and makes the crunch very savory when you "dig in". The 75 watt capacity keeps the speaker accurate at higher volumes so the break up is not mush from the cone of the driver. The stock speaker was decent but thinner and more hifi sounding than the meatier sound of this model. Because it has an even top end you get more depth out of the mids and the detail is superb. Very versatile and makes for a very accurate pallette to dial in set ups. I would gig with this in a heartbeat.KD321

Reviews:
OK this is the deal with this speaker. It's part of an excellent line of 10 inch speakers made by Eminence. Each one is voiced differently. I do have most of them in one amp or another because I build small amps. Just SE 5-10 watt Champ type amps. I bought this speaker specifically for one amp I built, it's for slide guitar. This speaker did exactly what I expected. The highs were slightly attenuated which was what I wanted and the mids were thick and kind of barked at you, which was also what I wanted. For lack of a better description it's almost like a 12" speaker, similar to a more British sound (Celesetion)than American. The Brit sound is more of that midrange bark as opposed to the more American (Jensen)smooth highs and scooped mids. I'm guessing but usually you get that with a heavier paper material for the cone, hence the hemp cone's effect and the larger 1.75 inch voice coil. I guess Eminence was after the Tone Tubby sound, whether they achieved that or not, I don't know I never used a Tone Tubby. This will thicken up a bright midrange deficient amp and would probably work well in a multi mixed speaker cabinet maybe with a Red Fang. Like all speakers it has a voice, if not used in the right amp I can see people not appreciating the Lil' Buddy. It is what it is, it will add midrange and attenuate highs in whatever amp you put it in.Big Daddy - 24664
Overall an excellent product with tasteful packaging.(they even threw in a couple of picks!) Amazing what changing a speaker can to for an amp. Must try some of their other products. One never knows, I might find something I like even better. 3 cheers for Eminence guitar speakers!gowest
This is a very loud 10-ich speaker with great low end and will tame the highs on a bright amp.hjmguitar

I play gigs every week, and use Crate 120 watt GFX-212, I play a seven string guitar and the bottom end has always been muddy. The speakers broke up and I contacted Eminence to see if I should use the Texas heat or the swamp thang. The said these were great speakers but for the seven string they recommended this speaker. I took there suggestion and am extremely pleased. I can turn the bass all the way up and the low B string rings clear, the highs are clear was well. Overdrive screams like it should. The clean setting is so clear I can not believe it. The one thing I was not prepared for about the speakers is they are about twice as loud as my old ones. They are however thee times the weight of my old speakers, but well worth the extra weight of my cabnets. I would highly recommend these speakers to anyone. These have a seven year warranty from the manufacturer as well. The Boz
Smooth like Santana!!!! This is flat the way it should be!!!!
Had a Superchamp X2 and decided to pick up a Superchamp mini stack to use for jamming with friends. Like the range of sounds and moderate volume of the amp, but felt like the shrill Celestion in the 1×12 cabinet could be improved on. I never used the EV 12 but wanted to see if this take on that speaker could round out the sound. This guy is heavy… reminded of lugging around the old JBLs. I added fiberglass to the cabinet and mounted the big guy. Even with minimal breakin, this thing sounds great. Big tight bottom, clear as a bell mids and highs with no ice pick. And so efficient it makes the little Superchamp louder. This speaker sounds like it puts out the best your amp can give it without breaking a sweat. I'd recommend it for any amp but especially modeling amps. Very musical… great speaker for the moneyOld Guy playing at home

I have a 3-way crossover inside my drum monitor and blew the speakers that were in it so I needed to replace the low end and the mid range speakers and I am very happy I chose this midrange speaker for the replacement. It works and sounds great on stage for my drummer. I have not blown it out as I am pushing 750 watts to it at the peak and it works good. I am very happy with this speaker.Darbs31

So far I'm impressed with the sound and weight reduction over the Bugera 10" they replaced. If they can stand up to 450 watts for the foreseeable future, I'll add the fifth star. My only reservation was the price but if they are a rugged as I hope they are, they'll be the right investment. Total weight savings for 2 10"- 10 pounds.JAMES
Went three stars on the features because its a driver only. Five string bass running through 1×10 combo from Line6. This driver much better than factory installed. Everything below B1 was total mud before. This Celestion has all the definition i want. Can play C#1 fifths and no distortion or mud just rich low end. Wonder what four in a 4×10 would sound like? Probably cause a tidal wave. Maybe price should be $120? With free shipping I don't care.Guest

Love it. It was a great upgrade to an already great amp. I use my small, yet powerful, amp for small shows, practice and church. It just needed a little more authentic bottom end because I tend to push the amp hard during shows. I did the research prior to my purchase and found that the "pro joes" recommend this speaker for a dynamic, vintage sound.Scott Free
I purchased the G10 Vintage for my Marshall DSL5CR. The stock 10-30 wasnt bad, but I wanted a bigger overall sound and more personality from my amp. The G10 Vintage added warmth, midrange punch, and some harmonic complexity that was lacking with the stock speaker. The tone is similar to a Vintage 30, but to my ears is not harsh in the upper mids and highs like Vintage 30s can be. Bass is tight, mids are warm and prominent, and the highs sparkle but are not harsh. This speaker added some bite and aggression to my lead channel, but produces excellent cleans as well. Overall, this was a great upgrade for my DSL and I definitely recommend it to others who want to beef up the sound of their small combos.boogietones
I have Celestion Vintage 30s in my Mesa/Boogie amp and have always loved the sound. I was looking for a speaker that would make my Fender Super Champ sound bigger, and I thought that the G10 would help. When I took the G10 out of the box, I was really impressed by the materials and build quality, but I was extremely disappointed after it was hooked up. As noted by another reviewer, the G10 has no low end whatsoever, and it made my amp sound smaller rather than larger. I think it sounds very nasal, which is ok for some high gain applications, but it sounds really thin on clean settings. The G10s might work well in a 2×10 or 4×10 setup, but they're definitely not suited for a 1×10 combo in my opinion.PD-fgIy.

Reviews:
This speaker sounds great in my 5w/1w Marshall DSL5C combo practice amp. I have now tried a ceramic speaker upgrade and an alnico upgrade in this amp and I prefer the alnico hands down. There were merits to both, but here is my experience: I upgraded the cheap stock 10" Celestion Ten-30 speaker in my Marshall to a Celestion G10 Vintage after I bought the amp and it improved the sound, but I always wondered what an alnico speaker would sound like. The cost of the Gold 10 was prohibitive, but after 12 months of playing with the Vintage I finally bit the bullet and bought the Gold. After first putting it in the amp I wasn't sure I liked the changes; it broke up a little differently in frequencies I wasn't used to, so I pulled it and put the 10" Vintage back in the amp. After playing the Vintage again I instantly decided the Gold 10 was better. I haven't looked back since. If you buy this, do the switch and hear for yourself. The ceramic Vintage has more bass, but everything else about the Gold is better. How can I describe it? It is tighter in the low end, just tighter and more controlled and better everywhere, more musical, slightly more defined everywhere, it doesn't lose any punchy-ness, it plays better with my pedals and improved them, distortion is more even, it chimes and rings like a bell on the cleans, it gets better with age as it breaks in, and on and on. I love playing with this speaker in my amp. I can't stop playing. I rush home from work to hear it. The reviews online are accurate and there is a reason there is so much praise for this speaker. You can spend months looking for a cheaper alnico that sounds this good or you can save time and spend the money for this one. Last thing I would say is that like everything GAS, this speaker is great but not the be all end all. It's a good upgrade but not the ultimate solution for your amp. It won't turn a bad amp into a good one, but I love the difference it made in mine.NoNick
This very loud alnico driver has made my Tone King Falcon able to express an assortment of harmonic overtones and complexities that I wasn't experiencing before. Before it sounded nice, but I already knew some details were being taken away from a extremely well designed circuit. When I put this speaker in, my amp is a lot louder, and after 50 or so hours of playing, I must say that the character of this amp has only gotten better. When played clean, the crispiness of this amp extends across all frequencies better, with a faint bell like chime that only couples to the amps sound. The bass is defined much better, the mids sing with more complexity, and the top chimes a bit in a sweet way. When overdriven, the character is still there and the harmonics are also overdriven, very nice! I can imagine this speaker making any circuit express its qualities a lower end speaker won't allow. Only sounds better when you break it in more, becomes more organic and fluid.Cyan
This is a high quality speaker that I just did not bond with. It was purchased for use in a Fender Princeton Reverb Reissue. I read many positive reviews (including ones for this specific amp and speaker combination) and thought I would give this highly regarded speaker a try. I gained thickness, volume, and midrange, but lost articulation, which I need. No amount of EQ adjustment would give me a sound I liked. I followed the recommended break in process from Celestion. I put the stock Jensen C10R back in and it sounds so much better…to me. There was nothing wrong with the G10 Gold, it just was not what I liked. So your mileage may vary. Obviously a lot of folks really like this speaker, so perhaps their preferences are just different than mine.ThreeEcho7

Reviews:
There seem to be no reviews out there for this speaker, but I bought it based on specs and after listening to samples at Eminence website. I have it in an oversized 1×10 pine cab (open/closed back option) and drive it with an Epi Valve Jr head. It kills…articulate, loud, very vintage sounding (punchy/tight lows and chimey highs) with strat or tele singles. Very lightweight too. Just gonna get better as it breaks in…happy camper.Jamie
Overall: For Fender amps that use 10's, the SC64 ceramic is fantastic for authentic vintage voicing with sparkling and smooth hi end, great US style mids and clean bottom. Good headroom compared to other spkrs in this style and power class. It is superior in SF/BF Princeton Reverb and Vibrolux Reverb for sweet Fender sound. For more British tones in these amps, I also like the Celestion G10 Greenback, if that's your thang.

Reviews:
I don't play metal and I've noticed that the metal players have a completely different opinion about a lot of gear than I do, so take that for what it's worth. I don't hate metal but that is not the sound I'm going for I replaced the speaker in my Marshall DSL5 and while it was already a great sounding amp the creamback tightened up and rounded out the sound. It won't break up like the stock speaker so the lead channel doesn't sound as fizzy as with the stock speaker. I tend to mostly use the classic channel with pedals but have been enjoying the sound of the amp with the new speaker plugged straight in. The creamback replaced the ten30 that is a pretty common 10" speaker mid tier amps. A speaker upgrade is the most effective amp upgrade you can do yourself, with regards to expense and ease of installation, and I don't think you'd be unhappy with this speaker; not sure how metal players will feel.Bob
