Wasn't expecting more than a good D. I. Box. After using it at my band rehearsal it's now become essential. It has made my ashdown drive pedal obsolete, cleaned up the bottom end in my tone and the whole band. I use a Spector Legend 6 Bass. I'm In a band with two bassists, drums and vocals. We both Bi-amp. A bass amp and a guitar amp. Getting these to all work together can be a real headache… But this has improved things so much, that the other bassist has one now. Tone very comparable to an ampeg type- Growly, very tight and controllable bottom end, doesn't "fart out" on Max. Top end can be moved between airy and crunchy. Build quality It is plastic, but I have no worries. I'm sure if I stomped on the 1/4" Jack, it would damage, but I keep mine on the pedal board anyway. Value Beyond comparison. I can't think of a better spent 20. The sansamp it's cloning is at least 8 times more expensive. And although it's better in some areas, (metal casing etc), sound-wise there's little to choose between them. At this price, in the unlikely event it broke, I'd just buy another. I have recorded using this, and it has very little noise, But massive tone. If it sounds good in an amplifier, it really comes into its own recorded. Save yourself a couple of grandon an svt, and just use this. Yes, really. I would highly recommend this pedal/D.I.snailsetsnail
Obviously with Behringer you are likely trying to save some cash instead of getting something "name brand." When I would record DI bass guitar, I used to run it through a distortion or fuzz pedal to get a more natural sounding gain. The V-Tone pedal is very good in that regard. Turn the presence, drive, and blend knobs all the way up and adjust the EQ to your liking and you get a mean crunch while keeping the clack of loose strings. That is about the limit of this pedal's potential, at least for me. Any adjustment to those knobs to turn down the distortion results in a sound nearly identical with just a clean DI with no pedal or preamp at all. It's as if turning them up from 1 to 8 has no effect until you get them to 9 and 10. Another flaw I've found is the high gain settings bring along a high pitched whistle that occurs randomly during playing, though it seems to happen with a lot of string rattle from long, held notes. It doesn't stand out when it's mixed with drums and a wall of guitars, though. I've only used it as a DI for recording, never as a preamp or DI for a PA or anything like that, it's possible it could be really good for those. I am happy with it to record bass for my doom, black metal, and mathcore kind of music, but wouldn't go to it for anything else.Jacob
I recently purchased the guitar version (GDI21) and was quick to get this bass version soon after. I own a rack mount Tech21 Sansamp RBI unit which has been excellent for me thru the years live. Also, their V1 VT Bass pedal has been a mainstay for me in a live setting. This is a very good clone of the BDDI with potential issues if used in a live setting. These are: Cheezy and fragile On/Off foot switch, and Illegible knobs. I have no idea where the knobs are set at any given time. Aside from that, I like this as a desk top companion to my other tone shapers such as the MXR M80 and M81 Bass Preamps. Um im Wohnzimmer auf der Couch ein wenig zu klimpern ist dieser Amp geradezu genial . Vom Gewicht her sehr leicht und auch von der Größe ist es ideal den Amp direkt neben sich zu haben . Der Clean-Sound kann richtig laut sein ohne zu zerren . Mit dem Overdrive Regler kann man schon recht schöne Crunch-Sounds erreichen . Ist natürlich nicht vergleichbar mit einem großen Röhrenverstärker , aber das darf man bei einem Preis von unter 50 € auch nicht erwarten . Mit externen Effekt Geräten die man zwischen Gitarre und Amp hängt kann man noch viel mehr Sounds rausholen . Ist alles möglich . Als Übungs-Amp für zu Hause ideal .

I have both the Behringer P1 and this P2. I am pleased with both. This one is smaller and slightly easier to wear on body. I?m a drummer and it works very well isolating the instruments I want to hear while lowering the decibels in my ear from the amps around me. I use it in mono mode. THE P2 only uses batteries but they easily last through a gig.Mark
I researched many units and although there were some really high quality items out there, most demanding a pretty penny, I was interested in functionality first, and cost/quality second. Very few units had balance controls, input volume controls, and separate volume controls for at least 2 headphones. 2 phone minimum I required for doing edits while someone else could joined in, but the main reason was for a fellow former veteran DJ who was the victim of a major accident that left him homebound, not able to venture out anymore but had to make a living, creating commercials for the local commerce and one of the local stations. He needed a unit that could handle more than one headphone to create commercials using others along with himself in the cut. Another reason was teaching him how to use the editor/cutter and what to listen for in the phones with I teach him the equipment. But one good reason was he was weak on one ear and the separate balance control for his phone was valuable for his balance without effecting mine. The volume increase per phone compared to the input signal allowed lowering the computer and the console to a reasonable level and pushing the volume on the headphone amp instead. It's not a diaphragm busting difference usually reaching mid points to equal what the phones produced when hooked to the console or computer and they at 3 o'clock or more for the same volume. This headphone amp just provides levels that are reasonable for the type of phones being used and it does have a good impedance range to operate within. However if you push the volume more than midway, the LED's will let you know when you need to back off but I've never heard it output clip even in the red provided the input was not clipped. I bought one to test for I do lots of edits under a pair of Sennheisers. Now that my friend has the one I bought and likes it, the trade is, I teach him, he buys me one of these. Fair Trade. It's an 8" bass combo. You'd need a really well built cabinet and very good speaker for an 8" bass combo to sound good. This one sounds better than most, tonally. 4 band EQ is nice. The best feature is the VTC which does color the sound in a positive way. A seven over-all because the speaker can't keep up with the amp, but otherwise it's great. It is THE quietest amp I have in my collection, and it's not due to any noise gating inside. For a low volume practice amp, it's great if you can stand playing bass at very low levels. I intend on turning it into a head and hooking it up to a real speaker. I believe it'll kick some real butt this way, believe it or else.puppy
At a time when lead pickers are searching for every new trick on the sonic scene, most bass players are after a good reliable, no frills, practice amp that can take a fair share of hard work without sacrificing a deep rich purity of tone at surprising high volumes. Top marks go to any practice bass amp that delivers good performance from a light weight package that does NOT need two beefy roadies to move! This BEHRINGER ULTRABASS BT108 delivers all that, and more, at an excellent price. The casing appears robust enough to take its share of knocks. Controls are well laid out and smoothly linear in operation. Standard inputs are provided – mono for bass; stereo for CD/line. The sole improvement one may have hoped for, but not provided, would see individual volume pots for each input. An excellent 4-band equalizer is provided with acceptable boost/cut. A driver cancelling headphone output fills out the control panel. Weight is modest enough to carry one-handed via built-in case strap. Checking with a 'scope showed no evidence of "notching" through full rotation of each pot. Equally importantly, noise levels were quite low. The quality of the custom made 8" BUGERA driver shone through – THD (distortion) was surprisingly low, even at the lower limit of the bass player's interest and at sound levels that are well beyond what most of us will ever use (or other family members or neighbours would tolerate). Undoubtedly, there are high end custom boxes that will outperform this BT108 – but, at this price and portability – forget it! This amplifier works great for what I was looking for. I just practice with this and is loud enough to be heard with other amps. This is only my first amp but I believe it has good quality and good functionality. The CD input will be nice to use if I need to play with an instrumental version of a song. All around pretty good sound, not loud though. It does buzz very slightly when I play around a C on the first string. Otherwise I think the frequencies are fine for the speaker.csw7878

I get a variety of good, useable tones out of this one box. In fact, this has replaced the distortion patches I was using on my trusty DOD Bass 30 entirely. To say that I am happy with any stock stompbox is a big deal, because I have only a few left in my collection that I haven't modified the circuitry in to better suit me. This is one of the few originals, and that says volumes. I step on mine regularly, and haven't had any issues with it. I'm not a bass player, but I play one on my records. I've been playing lead guitar for 20 years, and I know good sounds. I say this to inform you that my credentials are in good order. You can get any sort of growl you want, thick or thin- and as much or little of the clean as you need to retain the punch at the same time. I got this a while back to add a some gain to play a bit of metal with a bit of overdrive on top as well as fattening the sound of the bass. Unfortunately this will never give you a "smooth" gain sound like having a guitar amp's gain around 2. Having gain down all the way shuts off all sound to the amp, and having it around 2/10 puts on a harsh brittle overdrive no matter the EQ. Sounds a little better with flatwound strings. This pedal goes all out or nothing. If a "Hysteria" sound is what you're going for, this will do it but not a true amp low/med-gain sound.Fear

Wasn't expecting more than a good D. I. Box. After using it at my band rehearsal it's now become essential. It has made my ashdown drive pedal obsolete, cleaned up the bottom end in my tone and the whole band. I use a Spector Legend 6 Bass. I'm In a band with two bassists, drums and vocals. We both Bi-amp. A bass amp and a guitar amp. Getting these to all work together can be a real headache… But this has improved things so much, that the other bassist has one now. Tone very comparable to an ampeg type- Growly, very tight and controllable bottom end, doesn't "fart out" on Max. Top end can be moved between airy and crunchy. Build quality It is plastic, but I have no worries. I'm sure if I stomped on the 1/4" Jack, it would damage, but I keep mine on the pedal board anyway. Value Beyond comparison. I can't think of a better spent 20. The sansamp it's cloning is at least 8 times more expensive. And although it's better in some areas, (metal casing etc), sound-wise there's little to choose between them. At this price, in the unlikely event it broke, I'd just buy another. I have recorded using this, and it has very little noise, But massive tone. If it sounds good in an amplifier, it really comes into its own recorded. Obviously with Behringer you are likely trying to save some cash instead of getting something "name brand." When I would record DI bass guitar, I used to run it through a distortion or fuzz pedal to get a more natural sounding gain. The V-Tone pedal is very good in that regard. Turn the presence, drive, and blend knobs all the way up and adjust the EQ to your liking and you get a mean crunch while keeping the clack of loose strings. That is about the limit of this pedal's potential, at least for me. Any adjustment to those knobs to turn down the distortion results in a sound nearly identical with just a clean DI with no pedal or preamp at all. It's as if turning them up from 1 to 8 has no effect until you get them to 9 and 10. Another flaw I've found is the high gain settings bring along a high pitched whistle that occurs randomly during playing, though it seems to happen with a lot of string rattle from long, held notes. It doesn't stand out when it's mixed with drums and a wall of guitars, though. I've only used it as a DI for recording, never as a preamp or DI for a PA or anything like that, it's possible it could be really good for those. I am happy with it to record bass for my doom, black metal, and mathcore kind of music, but wouldn't go to it for anything else.Jacob
I recently purchased the guitar version (GDI21) and was quick to get this bass version soon after. I own a rack mount Tech21 Sansamp RBI unit which has been excellent for me thru the years live. Also, their V1 VT Bass pedal has been a mainstay for me in a live setting. This is a very good clone of the BDDI with potential issues if used in a live setting. These are: Cheezy and fragile On/Off foot switch, and Illegible knobs. I have no idea where the knobs are set at any given time. Aside from that, I like this as a desk top companion to my other tone shapers such as the MXR M80 and M81 Bass Preamps. Picked up this amp to use for tactile in simracing I have it running from speakon to banana plug hooked up to the miata diff known as the buttkicker LFE. Everything is straight forward with no issues and easy to setup,there is software for finer control over the HZ sent to the output. Some say the fans are noisy but I was not fussed but you do have the option to buy aftermarket fans to change them if you wish. There is no USB Type A cable included for connection to the PC which for the price was odd. But any home musician or household has billions of these strung about from old printers and midi devices anyway. All round not much you can say other then it does what it is meant to do at a price point far better then its competitors.Ryan T.

Sound: I bought the Ampeg Microvr Head originaly with one Ampeg 2-10" cabinet as a part of matched set, as most people do – about three months a later I bought another cabinet – so now I'm often running two of the same cabinets and the head together. When you plug in the second cabinet the rig gets noticeably louder in this set up, and also appears to have a much more deeper bass tone(if you want it). Adding the second cabinet added $300 to my rig – but if you can afford it, the sound is far superior to just the single cabinet, and gives you a lot of flexiblity. For smaller indoor venues like playing bass behind people with pugged in acoustic guitars, I run the head with just one cabinet and it sounds fine – both tone and volume wise. When I playing along with a drummer most of the time I opt for using two cabinets rather than just one. At higher volumes – like playing with a drummer it just sound stronger and fuller in every respect than by using just the single 2 10" cabinet. I'm either running a recent custom C.F. Martin Acoustic/ Electric Bass guitar, or a Fender Precession Bass, through the rig – depending on who and what I'm playing on music wise. It works excellent with either instrument and I am very happy with the set up. Even with just one cabinet you won't be dissapointed. Features: Happy with everything that it came with feature wise. Didn't like the stock power cord that came with because it was very stiff and hard to wind up – Ampeg should switch vendors and get a power cord supllier that could offer them a more felxible cord of the same quality that you cound wind up easier. Ease of Use: Tone controls are easy to figure out and use. Rear connections on the amp are simple, straight forward and easy to use, and hook things up. I often use a Martin acoustic bass guitar with this rig – so I use a Fishman DI preamp in between my bass and the amp – this being done basically to help control feedback at higher volumes (especially when playing out door gigs) and to fine tune the tone on the acoustic bass a bit more. My Fender bass sounds fine with out the Fishman preamp and the controls on the amp head work well with it – giving you many mutiple tone combinations depending on how you set them. Also my Fender fretless bass sounds really good through the amp and the matched speaker that you will most likely buy with the head. Quality: Quality seems very high. After about two years of owning and active giging – it is holding up extremely well. Over the last year or so I have taken it out on local gigs about twice a week, So it's been out of my house more than a hundred times so far, and there haven't been any issues so far – all this in all kinds of weather and temperatures. I had black vinyl covers made for the head (from a custom amp cover innernet company)and for both speaker cabinets as soon as I bought everything – so even aften trucking the units all over the place for quite awhile now they still all look fresh and brand new. The power cord that came with it was very stiff and always hard to roll up – so I bought an after market cord on a website cord supplier that was more flexible and easier to wind up. I've used the after market power cord every since. The head has a fan in the back that runs whever the unit is powered up, that when you first get the amp drives you crazy – because it appears to sound so loud. Truth is though while you may hear it running in your house when practing – you never do at gigs. At any gig the room and enviroment background noise easily drown it out right away – you just never hear the fan running at all. When I first got it I though something was wrong with the fan – there wasn't. Its an Ampeg thing – that is the low fan noise in a quiet background setting. Keeps everything cool inside the head – so you can certainly live with it. I got used to it after awhile and don't even notice it anymore. No one has ever commented to me anywhere about any fan noise coming from my amp. So don't think something is wrong with the fan when you first get the head. Value: The original outlay (about $600 for the head and one matching cabinet) is a bit steep compared to several other small bass amps on the market out there – but you get what you pay for I guess. Due to the price saddly – alot of bass players might not be able to buy one and will go with something cheaper out there. Before buying this I looked around for about two months at other rigs on the innernet, at music stores, and at othet musicians' bass rigs when watching them perform. This unit was replacing a Hartke Kickback 12 – which I used for about three years for the same type of smaller gigs – which is for more low volume type of dealsthat I play at – where you don't have to worry about shaking the room and making the paint peel of the walls when you hit your low E string on something like Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac". Sound: I own the Microvr amp and 2 210svtav cabs. I bought the second cab after I got the Mircovr set up. The sound sound you get from this things for the money blows anything else out their out of the water. To get the rated 200watts performance you need a 2nd cab as the load with one cab is 8 ohms at 150 watts. Light weight portability and small footprint size are a plus especially if your space chanllenged. This thing rocks. Features: This is a no frills set up. Pairing this with a foot controller, unlocks a lot of features and/or makes them easier to use while playing. There are a lot of tips online, but the major tip is with setting the overall input gain into the unit. When set properly, this thing behaves as it should. For my purposes (generally practice, jamming by myself), it's a great unit. Other uses I would recommend this preamp for are cover bands, studio/session bassists, anything where a variety of tones is necessary. This unit differs from a lot of other preamps, in that you can model different amps with different cabs, or turn that feature completely off, making this a bit less static than other similar preamps. The user interface is a bit of a learning curve, but once you start getting it down, you realize it's pretty intuitive and well thought out.monti2889

I purchased this 4 channel amp to replace 3 subwoofer amps, one of which had blown during a movie. The subs require quite a bit of power (Sunfire SubRosa subs), and this amp is able to (so far in 3 weeks) power them without any issues. After switching out the existing factory amps that came with the subs with this amp, it was very apparent that this amp is more powerful. When re-watching the same movies I've watched before, the deep subwoofer passages feel more powerful and controlled. I've had my EP2000 for a few years now and it works as good as it did when i firts bought it. last saturday night it was dropped onto a cement floor as we were loading our stuff up. Overall, great and produces a lot of power! It has all the features that I need. The fan works very well to keep it cool (a little loud though). Great features! I love it having so many different options of inputs/outputs. It also has many presents on back to get it to fit your personal need. Also like having adjustment knobs in front for easy acess and quick adjusting if needed. Great quality. Very loud with Behringer B215X Passive Speakers, I would recomment together. Great price for what you get!
Got one a few months ago to match the first one I bought in 2013. Powers my subs good, especially when the 2 subs are side by side. I got the second one after discovering that input 2 can be used as a signal output to another amp when in mono-bridge mode, saving me the need for another long cable or a Y-splitter. The 2 issues I've learned to overlook are the noisy fan due to it being at full speed when on, and the air filter is infront but the fan blows air from back to front, making the filter useless. After warranty, will likely take filters out to allow less cleaning of filter.jonthewhiteo

Behringer really inflated the power rating on this one. This amp does 22 watts RMS per channel at 8 ohms and 41 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms. Running each channel at 4 ohms puts this amp at about $1.70 per watt. This is your only option though for this type of amp. No one else make a low powered, class D, 4 channel, rack mount amplifier with balanced inputs and speakon outputs. Signal to noise ratio isn't great but it's acceptable. Fans are a little noisy.Raymond

I wanted to share my experience with the Beringer EP2000 amp after 40-Hr s of burn in. I will be comparing the EP2000 against my Cinanova Earthquake amps. I currently use 6-Earthquake channels in a 5.1 setup and I recently made some changes in the way my speakers are wired and needed two additional channels, in walks the EP2000. All my speakers are down near 2-Ohms so the EP2000 was my first choice considering the price.I compared the two amps in a stereo setup with all digital processing by-passed just the volume control in my Rotel processor and using my Rotel CD player, both 6-years old.Speakers are my own design/ build using 6-Dayton RSS265HF 10 subs, 3-per channel, two B&G 40 planers and two Aurum Cantus G2Si ribbon tweeters, one each per channel.To my amazement the EP2000 is almost as warm sounding as the Earthquakes, a bit more brighter and forward. Symbols were not quite as well defined and as for the lower end the bass not quite as deep. Overall the EP2000 is just not as warm sounding.Please take note I am being very, very critical with many hr s of going back and forth between the two listening to everything from Telarc s 1812 canon shots, jazz, Rush, female pop singers and a host of others. I must make note my Wife could not hear the difference between the two amps!!I will be using the EP2000 in my rear speakers on DVD sound tracks only so the slight difference between the two amps is undetectable and I do mean slight .This is really a great amp and when you consider the price Wow! I would not hesitate to buy another if it were not for the loud fan, folks it is loud. This prevents me from using the amp in my everyday low level listening but since DVD sound tracks are playback loud anyway this playback level does drown out the fan. The EP2000 runs very cool until you turn up the volume and driving 1.8 Ohms it gets really hot. I never have been able to find the amps power limits.Hope this helps others make a decision.Ray.RayD60
Ive recently finished a 4 way crossed over system, bottom 3 active, tweeter passive. Each active speaker designed for clarity and flat responce(sealed Qtc 0.707). Im driving two Peerless sls 12 inch stereo crossed at 120-140 and the responce is accurate and uncolored. Pauls bass on Abby Road was if he was in my living room. I know this is not possible without an excellent speaker design.. but you need an amp to provide the signal! For 300 bucks what more do you need. Spend a thousand for a subwoofer amp, and it will look nice and deliver half the power/headroom. The only down side of pro amps like this is the fan. IF you listen at low levels, separate the amps to another room or sound absorbent screen in front of the amps. I listen at moderate volume in a large room and may here the fan between tracks-so what.John Trogdon - 30533
Great amplifier with excellent power for the money. However the cooling fan is LOUD and it runs constantly when the amp is switched on. If it will be housed in a separate equipment room this may not be a problem. I found an online forum thread with a link to an 80 mm replacement fan which is nearly silent and fits perfectly, so for an extra $30 or so you can make the amp run nearly silently.Andy
