Reviews:
Bought the Polytune 3 to replace the Polytune 2 on my board because I wanted the buffer without having to use a separate buffer pedal. First thing I noticed out of the box was that the Polytune 3's screen is only 60-70% as bright as the Polytune 2. Returned it and got a replacement; same thing. I spoke to TC Electronic and they confirmed that this is indeed a design change in the Polytune 3 because some people were complaining that the 2 was too bright (wow, I guess a lot of complaining people don't do outdoor gigs). Go figure. At all levels of the built in light sensor, the 3 is dimmer than the 2, including outside full brightness. Boo. This is a deal breaker for me as the Polytune 2's screen & brightness were perfect. The new one is too dim and hard to see from eye level, and other LED's on my board are actually brighter than the Polytune 3's display, which is distracting. So so disappointing as this could have been perfect. Such a puzzling decision on the part of TC Electronic. A much better solution would have been to make the brightness switchable between two modes if that really was an issue. I mean really: who wants a dimmer, harder to see screen? Especially outside in sunlight. They took one of the industry standard tuners and upgraded it with a switchable buffer, but downgraded it because the screen is dim. Going back to my Polytune 2 with separate buffer pedal.Tommy
Don't know how well it works yet. This is not ready to use out of the box unless you happen to already have a 9v DC power supply. Not sure if it will take a 9v battery because a specific hex wrench is necessary to open the unit. It would be helpful to have this information on a retailer's website to alert potential buyers.Steve
Does everything it says it does. I only have two complaints and two suggestion: 1) Tuning in poly mode seems to have you tune everything slightly sharp. I tuned all strings in poly first and then when switching to a single string to fine tune, ever single was string was just a hair sharp. I don't know if poly mode is accurate and single string mode is flat or vice versa, but that's a minor gripe. You can use poly mode to get close and single string mode to get every string perfect. 2) There is no way to "lock" the pedal in one mode or the other. You strum all strings for poly mode or one string for the other mode and the pedal automatically switches between modes. The problem is that you have to be sure ALL of the other strings are muted/completely silent to keep the pedal in single string mode. If you even accidentally bump another string while trying to tune a single string, the pedal will switch back to poly mode. It would be nice if there was a way to keep the pedal in one mode or the other to avoid inadvertently switching back and forth. Second suggestion, I wish there was a way to dim the display. When they say this pedal has an ultra-bright LED display, they mean it has an ULTRA-bright LED display. You could probably tune your guitar in low earth orbit with this pedal. That's fine in bright lighting or daylight, but at night or on a darkened stage, something that bright tends to affect my vision for a few minutes. Other than that, I found the pedal intuitive and easy to use. The only thing I had to refer to the manual for was to find out how to switch between alternate tunings. There is a TINY little button near the input jack and I missed it when just holding the pedal and giving it a quick once over. The pedal does not affect your tone in any noticeable way, even when you have your volume way up. The footswitch is smooth and there's no audible pop (either on the pedal or through your amp) when switching the tuner on and off.Heavyarms

Reviews:
I use my Korg Pitchblack Mini Tuner to tune both electric and acoustic-electric guitars. So… this is my 1st pedal tuner. I don't have anything to compare it to, but my SNARK and the tuning app on my smart phone. Anyhow, it gets the job done fairly effectively. I also like how it cuts off the signal from my amp when I use it. As for the cons, it uses three 3 volt batteries, which doesn't seem to make it function at 100%. Luckily, it works perfectly w/ a DC9V. Also, in my experience, it's not as easy to tune the low E string in comparison to the other 5 strings. Aside from those 2 things, I'm satisfied with my purchase.Jaime The Tenor
I love the size of this tuner. Fits perfectly in with my basses and offers great display options (Half Strobe being my favorite). The colors chosen are great and the note display large and bold. My only complaint is that this uses (2) CR2032 batteries and the battery cover door was fun to open (it doesn't come off which is good, but you need to know that). Adding a couple spare batteries doesn't take up much room either. Love the little details (feet that turn out to stabilize, external 9v jack, modes).Kevin L.
The KORG Pitchblack PB01 pedal tuner is the greatest thing since sliced bread. This is much easier to use than the flimsy clip-on type tuners. You don't have to use it on the floor; just place the tuner on a table and plug in your guitar. It is easy to tune up this way. I really think this tuner is great…I also ordered the newer version as well. Again, stop fumbling with the clip-on type tuners. This is the way to go: KORG Pitchblack pedal tuners. I'm a happy customer. You should be too.greg k.

Reviews:
I really like this tuner. It's got a very bright display and it's very responsive. The construction and materials seem solid. I like it much better than my TC Electronics tuner that I bought for $100. Except for one thing…..the Monoprice tuner only lasted a year. At first it would occasionally make a loud "pop" through my amp when I pushed the toggle button. One time before a gig it "popped" and blew out something in my GK bass head so that it only worked through the line out jack (not through the bass cabinet). The next day the head worked fine. But gradually the tuner started to generate noise through my system so I have retired it to the junk heap. I'm back to using my TC Electronics tuner with the erratic tuning indicator. I guess you get what you pay for. $20 a year for tuning. Geeze.,,,.Ted
Build quality and initial impressions: This pedal is small and cute – smaller than a typical Boss pedal but larger than a "mini" pedal. The casing is metal, but it feels flimsy and I can hear parts rattling around. I'm not convinced that this pedal will have a long lifespan, but I guess I'll find out. (If it breaks, I'll update this review.) As other reviewers mentioned, it's branded as "Stage Right" but it's the same product so it's not a big deal. The screen was actually cracked when I got it, which saves me the trouble of having to do it, at least. Functionality: The tuner works well and locks on to pitches quickly, but it does feel a little indecisive occasionally. It handles lower frequencies fine for the most part, but had some trouble picking up the lower strings on my 8-string. One review stated that the tuner was a little off and needed to be calibrated to match up with what other tuners were saying. Luckily, mine seems to be accurate out of the box. The display is bright and although I haven't tried it outside yet, I think it would be readable even in bright sunlight. Operation: Despite being relatively small, this pedal can still run off a 9V battery, or off a 9V power supply. The switch feels extremely unsatisfying to press. It takes a little more force than I would expect, and instead of gradually giving way, it depresses all at once and makes an obnoxious "click". This doesn't affect the output signal though, so it's an inconvenience more than anything. Features: The "pitch" button allows you to set the reference frequency (436 – 445Hz, default 440), and the "flat" button allows you to transpose the displayed note up 1-3 half steps. There are two outputs: one mutes the output signal when tuning as usual, and the other allows the sound to pass through unmuted. Conclusion: If this weren't the cheapest tuner pedal on Home Essentials Direct, I'd say it's not worth it due to the questionable build quality and the awful switch. However, it's $12 at the time of this writing, which is crazy cheap, and with that in mind it's well worth the money. If you only have $12 to spend on a tuner pedal, this is your best and (probably only) option.E.N.
I have a confession to make. I made an adverse review on this tuner years ago that was due to user error. This is the third one of these pedals that I have purchased. I gave one to a beginner guitarist as a MUST HAVE. I keep one where I leave my equipment for rehearsal, and the one I'm purchasing now will stay in the storage compartment of my guitar case to take wherever I go. This is the best value tuner I have found. I use it on the bench as well when dialing in the intonation.Glenn

Reviews:
Every guitar play would be happy with this turner. I have been using one of the older Korg tuners for over 20 years. My cousin needed a turner, so I gave mine to him and purchased this one for myself. The older on cost over $70.00 when I bought it and I was very happy with it. But the new has it really out classed at an increditably low price. All you have to do with this one is turn it on. It figures out for itself which string you are tuning. Great tuner. Well built and compact. Incredible value.
Simple version of Korg's more elaborate tuners. Very compact, works fine and cheap. Not many features but I like the ability to drop the standard tuning by half steps with a single button push – I keep one of my guitars tuned down a half step and this makes it easy. I have been playing for many years and used many Korgs. I also recommend it to beginners I run into. It's rather lightly built, so a little padded case would be useful but it does not come with one. Don't drop it.tuckerja
This Tuner is very easy to use and bought in particularly to tune my 5 String Bass guitar. It works very well, even for the Low B string. I have also been using it to tune all of my guitars and will consider adding it to my pedal board. It is very useful having the input and output. One feature that I would like to see is a socket for a foot-switch to start tuning. Very fast delivery.gjhweym

I've had all kinds of tuners. Back in the old days, we didn't use tuners. Now they're in amps and it seems, everywhere else. I've tried the kind that clip on the head stock, the ones that lay on the floor, and the ones in the amps. I recently bought an ABY switch which has an additional output for a tuner and that solved my problem. This tuner has an in and no out. So, I just clip it to my music stand and I see it up high, don't have to look down to the floor, or back to the amp, or try to find it on my head stock. It's just right there on my music stand next to my music. Works super good. I have no need for chromatic so this has all the functionality required for my needs, and it is affordable. I like Korg brand name. It's automatic turn off saves battery life, and the battery life is huge to begin with. It has a dial as well as green and red (# & b) lights. I can keep my head held high and no one even knows I am using a tuner.Almost there
OK as a basic tuner. The 'sound' function produces a dire 'square-wave' tone which is difficult to match with a guitar's sound. Also, I should have noticed no 'output' socket so you can't leave it plugged in permanently. It uses AAA batteries which I've never had great faith in. Only a tenner, so reasonable value. No comparison to my old Boss TU80 which I've lost/had stolen; but this is only 1/4 the price.stace46
was looking for a tuner that can set the in tune display to 432hz, not 440, which is what it sounded like it could do, according to this spec description: Adjustable A430 to 450 Hz Calibration. But what this really means is there is a guide number on the tuner from 430 to 450 – which will not work for me. I need something I can see on a pedal board in a clear and simple way. I assumed that when I adjusted the frequency to 432, that would show in tune in the central position of the electronic needle. but that is not how it works. 432 appears several notches to the left of the central position, which is very hard to read when placed on my board (on the floor). It is lightweight which some may like but it also felt like something I would personally worry about breaking easily. If you are looking for a cheap tuner that tunes to 440, then I am sure this would work for you. Guessing this complaint only applies to a handful of people.

Reviews:
I have previously used TC Electronics tuners with which I have had no complaints. I was looking for a cheap alternative to prevent me from having to carry my usual rack of pedals for my acoustic guitar when I was only going to play bass at a gig. The Behringer fits the bill admirably. I've not experienced some of the difficulties some hard-to-please people have posted on Youtube – crikey some people are petty – and would have no hesitancy in recommending the tuner to anybody else. And the price makes it a winner. N.B. I've been a pro/semi-pro musician for over 50 years.Stephen W.
Ich took this tuner as my old Korg Tuner started slowly to send me goodbye messages. After using it for several days the Korg is not used anymore. I don't see any dissadvanteges of this device – the differences to overpriced tuners of other companies are synthetic. I simply have not had any problems with Behringer devices at all. Price / Quality ratio at its best.
This tuner pedal works almost same like Boss TU-3 tuner pedal. I bought it based on YouTube reviews, found it really good. The review says it has got very bright power indicator LED which blinds to see the tuner LED's. But the pedal I received didn't have this problem, I think Behringer guys rectified this in the new production batches. This pedal is bit slow in responding (which I can live with) but gives accurate tuning. I took this pedal to quite a few gigs, it has never failed me (I bought it in Jan-15). Now this sits on my Bass guitarist's pedal-board, and he takes it to every gig we go, has never failed him too (he has got a 4-string Ibanez SR-300 bass). Overall nice tuner pedal for the bucks I paid. Pros- Accurate tuning Bright LED for better visibility Cons- Plastic casing (if you want to use it roughly..) Works only with external power supply.Abhijit D.

Great pedal, fast accurate tuning, compact size. Downside: not battery operational (no big deal for me. For in home use anyway). And 2nd is those 2 super bright red LEDs (b & # indicators), a simple fix although so all-in-all an excellent chromatic tuner for a fantastic price. Also have the Digitech Hardwire HT-2 which is 5Xs the price – i could have bought 5 Donners instead. They both di what they are intended to do – tune for guitar…ree83002

So, I really didn't know what to expect when I bought this pedal, I just figured that hey, its a tuner pedal, you can't really mess that up. The pedal in the beginning was great, it tuned my bass as it was supposed to, however, the actual switch didn't not take long to give out. By that I mean that it got to the point that it would come on randomly while I was playing (not good when actually performing) and it just would not turn off. I had to keep playing with the pedal until it would stay off. Ultimately, I just had to get rid of it. Honestly, its just a cheap pedal. If you're not looking for longevity, go ahead and buy it. But I think you should spend you money on something better.Benji

Reviews:
The tuning isn't super fine, but it gets you real close. When in tuning mode the signal is blocked like in most tuners. However a tiny bit of signal still passes as well as some slight noise generated by the led display. Not bad though and doesn't color tone when by passed. Nice large and bright display. Hard to beat really. If you need a tuner pedal you could do much worse than this at a much higher price.offsetsmith

I love the ease of use of this tuner. It feels robust, and is easy to read. Pushing the switch down also mutes the sound from your instrument to the amp which is essential for speedy tuning situations. I have a 5 string bass and it has no problem registering the low B string. I have found the strobe setting less useful. Fine for tuning up at the beginning of a gig, but too sensitive whilst in the middle of things. I like that it has a 9v power port so that you can power another pedal from it, but would have liked Korg to send a cable with it. I have only had the tuner for a little over a week, but I can imagine it lasting a long time and it has already become my no.1 tuner for all things bass guitar.bikebiketom
Pedal display is easy to see when sitting or standing. I like the strobe settings as they help me get the best tuning. Tuner settles down quickly to show if I'm tuned high or low — many others tend to jump around a lot. Pedal case and switch seem sturdy enough, and it's easy to set the pitch calibration and display modes. I got this for the tuner, but also because it shuts off the signal to the amp when I turn on the tuner. This is perfect for changing guitars or connections or clearing out the memory in my looper, so this pedal is the last thing before the amp. Only one complaints: it turns on and off by inserting or removing the input guitar cord. I don't like having to unhook things every time I'm done playing. The instructions say it shuts off by itself after 4 hours, so my only concern is how much that drains the battery, haven't had it long enough to see if that's an issue. I wish it showed which OCTAVE a string is tuned to (like "E2" instead of just "E"), this would take some of the guesswork out of retuning after replacing a set of strings. I also wish it had an accuracy better than 1 cent (1 / 100 of a half-step or semi-tone). That's what most tuners claim, and a guitar still needs some fine-tuning by ear once most tuners say it's correct. But this one, using its strobe display, seems just right.Mr.Dave
I purchased this as a backup or possible replacement for a Boss TU-2 that I've had for 15 years and has had some issues with internal wires to the jacks coming loose. I've since fixed the TU-2 and have yet to put the Pitch Black on my board. That said, it's a perfectly good tuner pedal. Adequate display, accurate tuning. I haven't messed with the display modes; default is fine to me. Supposedly it's true bypass, so that's the only "advantage" I can see over the Boss. I haven't seen a reason to unseat the Boss other than wear and tear. My only complaint is that the switch is a momentary switch (no click when you step on it), so it seems like it might be a little easy to activate by accident. Yes, I know the Boss has a momentary switch, too, but it feels a little more solid due to the design of the pedal. It's nothing major and wouldn't deter me from ordering again, though.Masterbasser

For years I stayed away from Korg because my first two broke down. I been using the QuikTune models for years with no problems Sadly they are not on the market anymore. I purchased this model on sale and so far it has not given me any problems. I like the compact size and features it has for the money. Check out the video. FYI because of it's size it uses AAA batteries. Not a big deal.hcury1960
I prefer this type of tuner over the clip type. This tuner is more accurate I believe than the ones that cip on and sometimes scuff the finish. Korg, I believe, made the first portable tuner. Untill then, I always had on stage an expensive Conn tuner. So Korg has been making these little jewels for quite some time.Rick
I bought this as a SDOTD. It was a nice price, and I wanted an extra tuner. I prefer the clip-on variety, though. At first my tuner seemed to have trouble picking up the signal. It seems fine now. My main issue with the tuner is that it's not well lit. Therefore, it's difficult to use. In a dark club without a flashlight, it would be impossible to tell if you're in tune. Even in a room with normal lighting, you have to strain to see what's going on.Mikjams
