Bass Guitar Tremolo Bridge For Sale (2024 Update)

Bought this for a beater RG. Got it Thursday (7/07/2016). Played four shows the next three days. Only adjusted tuning due to show locations. Outside and inside gigs. It performed flawlessly. To the reviews concerning sustain,I say this. Just play more notes! I gave this product four out of five stars only because the durability factor hasn't been tested. Haven't had it long enough. So far so good though. To you guys thinking about getting it. Stop thinking and start buying. You will not be disappointed.Dave

I ordered this for an '89 Jackson/Charvel Dinky. The old FR had seen it's last days and I didn't want to spend too much on this guitar (as much as I love it). The Special turned out to be of pretty nice quality. All The parts were included and the installation was actually pretty easy. FR are notoriously tricky but installing one from scratch really helps you to see how they work, making the final setup much easier. Surprisingly, I had an easier time setting this up from scratch than I've had trying to adjust existing FR's. One note. The trem block that comes with this is pretty lame. It's tiny and appears to be made out of Chineseium. I ordered a FR Big Brass Block at the same time and installed that from the start. I would recommend doing that as it's only another 32.Gabriel

I purchased this to replace a Gotoh Floyd Rose Licensed bridge and nut on a Casio PG-380 digital guitar from around 1987. I was unable to use the nut because the mounting holes in the place are like 1/16 of a inch off from the original one so it wouldn't be centered on the guitar neck. The next problem was the enclosed allen wrenches did not fit – this really blows my mind. My next question is the springs plate for behind the bridge allows for up to 5 springs. The photo graph in the picture shows 3 springs but they sent 4 springs. If you want tension balanced across the plate you can only use odd numbers of springs of 3 or 5. Since 5 aren't included you have to use 3 springs and toss the 4th away I guess.thedj1963

This is identical to the bridge on the Geddy Lee signature J Bass, only it has FENDER engraved on it and not Geddy's signature. I installed this on a Squier J, dropped right on, set the action and intonation and was good to go. Even playing without being plugged in you can notice a difference in sustain and overall vibration transmitted through the body. Bang for buck it's probably the best way to make any Fender Bass sound better. Love it!lord_verminaard

Firstly this steam cleaner is multifunctional so can be converted into a handheld device which you can use the different attachments with. I refreshed the carpets and can see quite a difference and when using it on hard floors it leaves a streak free shine. It's easy to maintain as you just need to wash the steam mop pads but an issue i faced was that when you wash the pad, it doesn't seem to be thoroughly cleaned. I would have also liked it if more than just one steam mop pad came with the product. It is powerful in terms of quickly heating up and steaming but I feel that it could be better but for 22.99 you can't fault it. Due to it being refurbished it did come in the original box but the box was quite damaged. The product itself had minor signs of wear just a few marks. One thing to be careful of is when removing the floor head is to do it slowly and cautiously as it may lead to damage or injury. Classify myself as an Experienced Musician since I am retired from the Professional Musician classification, if the guitars and basses that I have built in recent years, are not considered a profession. This unit went on a Lacewood body with a Tobacco Burst nitrocellular paint finish, and a Bubinga neck sporting an Ebony fretboard,with 6150 frets. This Floyd unit has an R-2 FR nut, and a set of Sperzel Locking Tuners on the headstock. It has a distinctive look with the Satin Finish, and makes the high polish on the body, that provides the figuring of the wood with an excellent appearance, even though it had very good pattern in the first place. DiMarzio Pickups in an HSS configuration with DiAddario strings create an original sound. The Floyd Rose brings it all together. I have used both Schaller and Original FR units, and I personally find the FR to function somewhat better. It seems to fit in the cavity, and stay in place better.Noone

Yeah, it's a pain to change strings. Yeah, it kills some tone and sustain. Yeah, it stinks to set intonation. Yeah, it's not very adult in general. But when you need a tremolo to do what this thing does, this is the best choice, for a number of reasons. The main reason being that there are numerous parts, gizmos, and upgrades readily available to combat many of its inherent pitfalls. If you need to create tremolo mayhem, this is the one! Contrary to what I'll select at the end of this review however, I would NOT recommend this to my friends. I like my friends, lol.Steve-O

I bought this unit to replace the original Floyd Rose I had on my Kramer American I have had since 1988. The previous was getting pitted on the posts and the blade, so it was less expensive to replace the whole unit vs. buying replacement parts. You will need to go onto the Floyd Rose website to get installation instructions if this is a new install, but easy enough to find. I did have to drill the post holes as my old one used the wood screw post, which wasn't difficult (just scary!). Total replacement took me 30 minutes.spends-2-much

This is a great vintage style bridge for any Jazz Bass. I recommend it. It allows you to actually space the strings better, so they line up with the pole pieces of the pickups.pacifica904

I have several of these… the bottom-plate is thicker than the traditional Fender bent plate bridge… is a good replacement for Squier VM series. (note that screw holes are different- need to dowel & re-drill.johnstauros

I bought this not knowing it was only 3 hole bridge, as most fender bridges are 5 hole. For the Fender Deluxe bass this is a better bridge that most Fender bridges. BTW the holes do not line up for a non Fender Deluxe bass.musicljs2002

Excellent choice to replace the proverbial 'bent plate' bridge. The holes don't line up with the standard 5 hole bridge, but it's an easy fix and easy install. All you need is a good eye and a drill bit. Spot-on intonation, streamline compared to Bada$$ or Gotoh. Very happy with this bridge.lhc515

This is a three-hole version of the A Type Bridge. It came with 5 screws with heads that were too small for this unit. I can only think these screws were intended for the five-hole version of the bridge. Since I received the wrong screws, I took off one star in my rating. I mounted the bridge using my own screws, and the unit is excellent, very easy to adjust precisely.dklo1895

I use this on a square affinity jazz bass modification to fretless. Intonation on these bases is difficult to begin with, but this bridge does not provide enough range to adjust. This may be just be an issue for my particular project. On other fretless projects, I have been able to adjust better intonation with less expensive bridges.oblique01

As the title states, I own two of these. I purchased the first one about two years ago and it went on my MIJ Fender Jaguar Bass. This one went on my '75 ARI Fender Jazz Bass. The bridge is excellent and greatly improves the sustain of the instrument(s). Installation was simple and the adjustments are easy and intuitive. My only complaint is that the screw holes were pretty jagged on the underside; so jagged, that I had to file them down before installing. It was easy to do, but QC should not have allowed it to be distributed. There's no way I would have put something that would scratch/indent the surface of ANY of my basses, let alone one that expensive. I would still recommend these and might put them on some of my other Fenders, as well.Cytodavid

It's fairly easy to install. I put it on an old 1980s Fernandes Strat. I like the feel of the arm, as it has a more modern feel. It's not a Floyd Rose type of feel, but it's somewhere in between vintage and modern. It also increased the sustain and gain of my guitar.larkascending

super high quality materials, build, and design. the best tremolo i've ever used, and i've pretty much tried them all. yeah, a floyd rose is higher performance, but a total pain to set up, keep set up, and change strings. my hipshot stays in tune, even with divebombs, so long as i don't let the strings go slack (this is the one area where the floyd out-performs them all). granted, a whole lot of tuning stability is due to the nut and headstock geometry, but this trem is noticeable more stable than traditional strat trems, modern 2-post strat trems, and my G&L dual fulcrum trem. and it is a whole lot easier to set up action and intonation than a wilkinson trem — wilkinsons are nice but intonation/action is a pain to set up due to their saddle design. i'd say tuning stability is on par with a kahler, which is really saying something. ergonomics are great, too — almost as smooth as a cam trem (kahler). a single minor nit: i wish it had a thicker trem arm with no tip (like a floyd rose) rather than a traditional skinny strat arm with plastic tip. installation was as easy as any 2-post non-locking trem — couldn't ask for more. trem arm was way too tight, but i called hipshot and a knowledgeable human answered in a couple rings and told me to ream the arm socket with a 3/16 drill. worked perfectly, and i was really pleased to receive immediate, competent support. given how well it performs and how well it's made and the ergonomics, the price is perfectly reasonable. i recommend this tremolo bridge without hesitation.severalbeans

Very good part and good fitment to Fender Stratocaster. It's a genuine Fender part so the quality is good. I used to retrofit this to a 1981 Strat and it did the job just fine. I would recommend this bridge assembly.darrellgw

The bridge has a solid feeling heavy block and nice looking bent steel traditional saddles. Be aware that bent steel saddles do have the potential to develop a buzz from time to time, particularly on the high string. Smoothing the top of the saddle with some very fine wet and dry will usually fix this. You might also like to source shorter grub screws or shorten them yourself by grinding down the bottom of the screws, as they poke up into your hand when palm muting.mattguitarroberts

I bought one of these to replace the low=pro Jackson bridge on my Rhoads V. I have Yet to have a problem. Yes, the holes for the nut might not line up. Simple woodworkers fix:take a dab of glue in previous nut's mounting holes, the insert toothpicks in holes and snap off. files what is above the mounting area and get on with your life. Although it doesn't have the brass block, that can be replaced. I also have this bridge on my GL-200K and have yet to notice a lack of sustain or tone. I sound the same whether I am using either of these two guitars, or any of my hard tail axes, so maybe, just maybe we are ALL getting to be tone snobs. This bridge is going on the '85 Kramer Beretta I am restoring and would recommend this bridge to anyone who wants a Floyd Rose that actually say Floyd Rose on it. If it works, is reliable (which it is), and can hold up to the whammy abuse that I tend to give a guitar, then use it, and let those who "would only use and original or Pro" spend two to three times as much.guitar74

I have two guitars that came with these installed on them, these are great tremolos for the money. They are based on the original floyd's specs, you can upgrade the ZINC parts and have all the same great quality of the OFR..those two parts are the Saddles and the Sustain Block. They are two of the more expensive parts to purchase as parts and replace but in the never ending search for tone this is where you can make the most difference in that quest. They hold tune when you set em up properly just like the original. Noticed one of the other reviewers said these come with brass blocks..that is false…they are Zinc. These are only as good as the person who is installing them and setting them up. I've included two images..one with upgraded saddles and another is upgraded sustain block… 28 mm brass.Dimebag Jr

I have ordered one of these before and put on a made in Mexico standard Fender p=bass. Worked much better than original and I gave that bass to my nephew. This time I needed for my main player /made in Japan 1984-87 p bass. The main reason for me are the grooved saddles I use to make sure the strings sit just right between the pickup pole pieces so there is an even sound. Works perfect for that plus has the slotted adjustment screws for height just like the 66 p-bass I owned in the 70s . You just need a very small screwdriver and not an allen wrench like most do now. I like the old style bride very much all around and is just as sturdy as the Japan bridge I replaced that didn't have the grooves.Thanks again Musicians Friend!Roggbass

I used a deluxe fender bridge, which is thickier than the usual standard bridge, 3 screws and produces more sustain, but I had to get back to a 5 screws bridge and I was afraid of losing sustain or creating dead spots. However, with this bridge I got the same results as the previous one, that is, it didn't lose sustain at all and it didn't create any dead spots whatsoever. I am very happy with it and it looks really great on my bass. Why my second favorite? Because the deluxe bridge looks better IMO, and allows string throu body and more string spacing options.captaincanela

Used the saddles on this to replace the saddles on my MIM Jazz Bass. Screws are slightly larger so you have to make the bridge plate holes slightly larger. Threaded saddles allow you to get the strings aligned with the pickups better and the E and G saddles hold all of them from sliding around.project_whiteout

The only floating tremolo I will ever use. Floyd Rose is the only tremolo system that responds to my extensive dive bombing, pulling, fluttering and sound effects smoothly and effeciently. Nothing else even comes close and I've tried them all. Worth it's weight in Gold. All of my guitars that have double locking tremolo systems on them, are equipped with the original Floyd Rose. Even if they came with Kahlers or knock – offs originally. I took routers and everything else needed to get the Floyd Rose to fit into place. Even my vintage axes. That's how serious I am about the Original Floyd Rose. To me there is no other! Now they come in Chrome, Gold, Smoke Nickle, Black and Matte Black too! How cool is that?bashfuldwarf

I grew up in 80's & 90's and that is when I started playing guitar. my first guitar was a fender strat and the trem bar on those guitars is basically worthless or you had better wait till the very end of the song to do that dive bomb on the wammy bar. anyway the double locking floyd rose system and all the licensed versions out there were a must in the era if you were a student of the shreders. until a little band called nirvana came along and the days of the shreding solos and use of the wammy bar just went. but I was so happy to find out that you could get the real floyd rose original again because it is just the best version out there in my opinion. so back to 1990 when I first started playing guitar, me and my dad were avid headbangers ball viewers and it didnt take long to realize that my strat needed a locking trem of some kind. and the only way you could get an original floyd that I remember was you had to find a kramer or something that all ready had one on it. so I settled for a liscened version made buy WD if my memory serves correct. Which was decent enough. I could finally start trying to emulate all my heros that influenced my ( EVH, Kirk Hammett, Dime, etc…) inital playing and solo learning. But to get to the point, I later discovered the gibson les paul and became a pretty much LP or nothing kind of guy once I went more alternaTIVE and less heavy metal. But I still had my 1983 charvel model A, single humbucker, single volume control, (so Eddie VH) and the need for a locking trem. well I finally found that you could acctually get a real floyd rose original, pricey but worth it. so I got one and put it on there, And really if you have the need to go with a floyd rose type, I can tell you I have yet to try out or play a " LIC. UNDER FLOYD ROSE PAT." design that could compare to the original real deal. just the quality and playability of the real thing has no comparison. they use top quality materials and plus EVH uses them….can't go wrong there..Jacob Fisher A.K.A Leroy Crow

We are talking about a real kick-ass bridge, the name says all the story. Fitted in a P-bass style MDF bass, a Hohner Rockwood, it totally transformed the instrument. It was a bit fiddly to install, as it is quite big for the p-bass body and needed extra care while setting the tired bass up again, because it changed the strings height a bit. However, the extra work payed up. The upgrade was tremendous, the bass sound improvement was like changing to new better strings, totaly transformed the mid lows, giving them extra strength and the mid highs were the most clear I have ever heard from this instrument. Now the bass screams for a new pick up set, it gained huge potential, still remaining value for money. I strongly recommend this product, in all its aspects, quality wise, performance wise and value wise.aftermarketmarineparts

A huge leap forward in improved intonation and adjustability compared to the stock 1967 Fender jazz bass bridge that came with my bass, which is cheap junk. This Hipshot bridge is an excellent bridge. The original stock bridge never even placed the strings correctly between the individual string dual pole pieces of the pickups. With this Hipshot bridge they are now correctly aligned. The crazy idea that these vintage guitars are somehow better in quality than modern made guitars is a myth and a joke. The mounting hole spacing on the Hipshot bridge was slightly off compared to the original 1967 vintage Jazz Bass bridge, but close enough to work when the original bridge screws were used. The original screws are a bit smaller in diameter than the ones provided by Hipshot. They were a better fit than the Hipshot provided screws.mic6416

I bought a used Squire Vintage Jazz Bass and wanted to beef it up a bit, so I bought a Hipshot KickAss Bass Bridge for it. The 5 screw mount fit perfectly, sustain is better, overall better sound as compared to the original cheapo bridge. Very happy with it and pleased with the looks too (see attached pic). It's very well made and easy to adjust for each string.. not just up and down, but also side to side (which I needed to do to get them positioned over the pickups correctly. Very nice to be able to do that). And, if you want a crisper sound, you can buy some stainless steel inserts for the strings (replaces the brass ones). Haven't tried that. I'm using the brass inserts that come with it and I'm very happy with the sound. But, offers more versatility if you're looking for a different sound. Great bridge and nicely designed and nice to look at. I recommend it!!myello

This bridge is awesome. The sound is tighter and well defined. The setup is easy and furthermore, the string space can be adjusted which is a great feature when adjusting the strings to the pickup poles. I used it on a Sire V7 vintage 5 string bassgregos66

I love everything about this bridge except for the provided mounting screws which shattered. the tips of the screws broke off in the body of the bass. Maybe a higher quality of mounting screw should be provided with the bridge. These seem to have been aluminum screws. a material too soft for the function.joffess17

I have 2 Fender P-Basses, one of those I installed a Leo Quan BA II on and the second had the cheap bent metal bridge supplied by Fender. I service and repair quiet a few guitars and basses. The Leo Quan BA II made such a BIG difference in sound quality (sustain, tone) in my first P-Bass that I decided to replace the stock bridge on my second p-bass. I surfed the net and found the BA II but MusiciansFriend had the Hip-Shot with a 20% discount. Not having used a Hip-Shot bass bridge before, I decided to give it a try and save a few coins. Bad Idea. First Problem (bad design), Hip-Shot comes with only 3 mounting holes instead of stock 5 AND you have to remove the 2 inner saddles prior to installation so you can get the center mounting screw in flush. You don't have to do that with the BA II since it is has room to install without removing saddles first. Second Problem (bad design for intonation adjustment), Hip-Shot saddles do not have the straight thru the saddle screw hole adjustment which will allow you to adjust the saddle all the way back to the end of the bridge if needed when setting intonation. The Hip-Shot saddles only allows you to adjust to mid-way thru the saddle then stops. They are not threaded all the way thru so they include an additional couple of shorter saddle screws to adjust the saddle back closer to the end of the bridge. If you adjust it all the way back, even after installing the shortest screws in the saddles (again having to remove the saddles and put shorter screws in), you are limited on how far you can adjust them due to the saddle slot taper. I could not get the E string intonation adjustment "dead-on" due to the limitation. Do yourself a favor and spend a few extra coins and get a BA II. This is my first and last Hip-Shot. Very disappointed. Go with what you know. BA II bridges are head and shoulders above the badly designed Hip-shot bridge. The tone and sustain is exceptional with the a Leo Quan BA II unlike the Hip-Shot.thecapmasta

This bridge is a solid, massive component. My Hipshot is chrome plated brass and is fantastic upgrade to the standard Fender bridge of my '78 Precision. Installation is easy. The bridge saddles come bottomed out on the base, so a string height and intonation setup will be required. Note: The bridge comes with two additional intonation adjustment screws which are approximately 0.25" shorter than the screws originally installed on the bridge saddles. User may need to swap out intonation adjustment screws on one or two saddles if more string length is required during intonation. Overall, the bridge looks great, sound is full and rich, sustain has improved.kclloyd

I bought this bridge to replace a bridge on a childs squire. Its made poorly with cheap metal and parts, and is worth the few bucks I paid for it. If youre repairing junk, this is the bridge for you. If you want something of value, look elsewhere.mickmc1313
