I wanted something decent quality but I didn't want to pay SM prices, and the stuff at the online shopping extravaganza named after a major rainforest is all cheap garbage. I have used other Music Nomad products and liked them so went for this set of files. They are built pretty well and they seem to have taken into account many of the shortcomings of some of the other cheaper files. The file part itself is only a couple inches long. That way it won't bend when you are using it causing too wide of a slot and also won't drift down and accidently cut the first fret. The housing is small enough to easily use but still have a good grip. They come with a nice little box to put them in as well. I don't know what someone who does this for a living would think of these, but for an average player who needs a decent set of nut files I think these fit the bill quite nicely.Allan

These are the same files sold by Ibanez some years back. They were generally well liked by most luthiers, and were a common item on my bench too. I rather like them, and have a set of them, and Hiroshima files too. Japan makes some very fine steel, and usually their files are quite nicely made. Every so often you get a malformed file. I am sure Antique would guarantee against a poorly formed file, so check them all out and inspect them all, BEFORE you use any of them. A bad file is not very common, & in fact is rather rare, but it can happen.Seth
You could likely find a file with a slightly rounder cut and a bit more rigidity in its construction, but you would pay three times the price. These files are a great value and worked very well for me. Very pleased with the product and with Amplified Parts every time I've used them for tubes and pots as well.Robert
