This amp has a wide range of settings to dial in whatever sound you need for various types of guitars and pickups. I was a little disappointed in the volume limitation when plugging in my acoustics with passive pickups- they just didn't have any punch even with the dial turned up, but that was corrected somewhat with an XLR>RCA converter jack to boost the signal. Also the pre-amp in the effects box I have does the same thing. It produced great tone and presence on an electric 12 string, classical, and irish bouzouki which all have active pickups. What really impressed me was how it handles vocal and instrument together. No feedback and plenty of headroom. I'm glad I settled on this model to meet my needs rather than some of the others out there of the same capabilities. The looper is another fun feature that allows you to lay some percussive rhythm down to play along to, or a chord progression to build upon. Another plus is its small footprint and light weight for portability. I plan to be using it in small rooms where it fills the space without being over bearing. It is a perfect tool for solo performances, but would probably hold its own in a small group as well.super-perfundo
I am very pleased with this amplifier. It is very small, (like a large lunchbox) and light. 8 AA batteries can power this or you can use the included ac/dc inverter. After playing with the mic input and plugging my Taylor; its obvious that this is the easiest to use and best sounding acoustic amp I own. Subtle nuances in voice and guitar are replicated so clearly, I forget which part is already recorded on the looper and what is the live part I am playing! No kiddin, its that good! Speakin of the looper, that is probably the best practice feature of any piece of gear I own. Nothing fancy, and 40 seconds tops, but it is falling off a log ez and really does give you enough time to lay down a basic track. My guitar has never sounded so crisp and clean, ambience/chorus on both channels are very high quality! Don't let the size fool you, this isn't a toy, but I guarantee if you get one, you will wanna play for hours! Few pieces of gear have ever been such a pleasant surprise!wdc27909

I originally bought the A20, the chorus went function went bad. I was supposed to get a replacement A20, but I was told the store delivery truck broke down. The demo A20 was pretty beat up, so I went for the A15 since they had it in stock. Less wattage, smaller speaker, no reverb, and no output with adjustable level.. The A15 cost less, but I would have rather had a replacement A20. That said, it's not a bad amp. I will wait before I ever recommend to a friend, based on my experience with the A20.None
O.K. Boys and Girls, I'll get right to the point. If you look at the input jacks on this combo amp, you'll see that the only choice for input #2, is a 1/4" plug. That means that, unless you use a converter to go from XLR to 1/4", you can't use a normal (low impedance) mic on input #2. Input #2 is the one with the EQ section on it. So, if you want to EQ vocals with this unit, you're out of luck with the on board EQ, unless you buy an external XLR to 1/4" convertor cable or plug. Then look at the #1, XLR input. There is no EQ on that channel. You plug your mic into this input and hope for the best. Without EQ you can't tailor the sound from your mic, with this amplifier's EQ. You are stuck with whatever your mic produces, and the tonal characteristics of your voice. So, if you need to roll off some highs, or accentuate them, you can't do it on this unit with just the XLR input on this amp. You'd have to process your vocals externally to this amp, them bring them into the XLR input on this amp. It's either that, or you'd have to get an XLR to 1/4" convertor and use the input #2. Other than that, Acoustic does a great job with these all-in-one acoustic style amps. I've used one for years. They are very quick to setup, have reasonable power for small rooms, and have good tone. I'd recommend these, especially for the price. Just be aware that the limitations on this particular unit, at least partially lies in the fact that they did not put a dual use XLR/1/4" jack on channel two. The old Acoustic AG30 had dual use jacks on both channels. What were they thinking when they designed this unit: no EQ for vocals? What the heck….?TruthMan

Purchased a Yamaha SLG200S and wanted an amp to go with it, as this part of the silent guitar family it was a no brainer. The size, tones, volume, software, portability and that fact it can be battery powered are all plusses, and it looks great with the faux tube glow. It's plenty loud and sounds great, make sure to use the software to really dial in the sound. Currently the only amp I own, as the only powered guitar I have is the SLG200S.
A great mini amp suited to acoustic guitars for private use applications in living rooms or bedrooms. The sound quality is very crisp and clear. There is a choice of microphone emulation to simulate mic-ing up your acoustic guitar. The signal from this mini amp can be fed into a PA or a mixing desk using the Phones output socket. This amp is not really suitable for rock electric guitar sounds like crunch and distortion. The Yamaha THR5 is more suitable for this purpose.Danny
I have looked at the Yamaha THR line of amps many times in various retail shops. Finally saw one on MF in open box condition. Thought, "What the heck." Looks and functions as new. I bought the THR5A to use with my acoustic-electrics. I wanted a small portable amp with good effects for small venues and home practice. For me, a solo singer song writer playing originals, this little amp is a true gem. I use it for effects support in stereo, the other line run through my 40 watt Fender Acoustasonic. For years I have used the durable Acoustasonic as my PA, monitor, and for my vocals, and my Boss RC3 Looper. The THR5A is used simply to tweak the sound of the guitar. The effects are very nice, lots of range to dial in. The modeled Mics offer enough variety to cover the 3 different AE guitars I use. (Carvin AC175, Carvin AE185, Huss and Dalton CM). I can even use my OCD pedal through the THR5A for playing blues leads over the Loops. I would recommend this amp to any player of AE guitars because the sound quality out of this small inexpensive amp is truly amazing. But remember young squires, the THR5A is a very low watt amp with tiny speakers, so do not expect it to support you in a setting of more than 15-20 attentive listeners!Surflad

I have nothing but great things to say about this amp! Perfect for the solo acoustic artist. I've been a solo acoustic gigging musician for years and this is the best amp I've played through. You get a nice rich sound from your guitar and I love the reverb effects on both the vox and guitar. The chorus is a nice touch, though I don't use it much. I've played Marshall amps almost exclusively so I knew they'd handle my guitar well, but I was really surprised with the vocal sound. A very warm tone with minimal knobs for a quick set up. It sounds great mic'd or you can run a line out to a PA for further EQ if you'd like. It's light enough and compact enough to throw in your car for a last minute gig. Great for small to medium rooms, mic it or line out for a larger one and get rocking. You won't be disappointed.CT
If you've been reading (and watching) the reviews, then you know this is likely going to be a great amp. However, even after researching it, there were 4 unknowns for me. These are now clarified, now that I own this amp. 1) Bass. Yes, it has more than enough bass. 2) Clean sound. Yes, when reverb and chorus are off, the clean (natural) sound is fantastic. As good as the chorus and reverb are, I think I'm going to be playing it "clean" a lot. 3) Weight. As you know, it's heavier than most amps in this category; don't worry about it. It's not bad. You can always put it on a small self-made dolly if need be. 4) Plug-In for the Footswitch pedal — what is it, and how does it work? The one that's made for this amp has two buttons: one for reverb, and one for chorus. Yes, you have to pay extra for this (and the amp is also a bit more expensive) — but worth it. Very happy with this amp. It is such a warm, fantastic sounding amp.B
Speaking from experience with various sound reinforcenent systems. There are many options here with the phantom mic power and even an rca input for devices (drums or other audio.) Other reviewers note the solid build and good looks. I have one in white. Marshall knows speakers and this closed back box provides wide range good definition, and good projection. Not box like. I have run electric guitar or bass straight in. I would think it fine for jazz guitar. Or use your choice of pre amp devices/emulators. I recently grabbed this beauty to use with my array of acoustic electric guitars (Gibson L-00 Rosewood, Martin 000-17E, Taylor 324ce, Breedlove Oregon Myrtlewood Concertina, and Breedlove Premier Adirondack/Rosewood Concert). I will especially need it when it comes time to play shows again, and I was interested in this amp as it has two channels (one for guitar and one for vocals). The sound is perfect and so true to the tone and nuances of each guitar that I'm mostly just mad at myself that it took me this long to get ahold of this amp. It is deep and full sounding and also has an excellent grouping of effects (the delay and reverb are stellar). There are more expensive acoustic amps out there (I own one of them) but this is the best that I've used. It will give you absolutely everything that you need to annoy your neighbors or to perform in front of a small-to-medium-sized room full of people.Tyler from Oregon
Overall I'm very pleased. Other reviews have covered most everything, so I'll just add a few comments. While I love the sound of this amp, it's pretty under-powered when used with dynamic mics or a passive guitar pickup. I have a Taylor 712 ce with a K&K mini installed, and it benefits greatly from running the signal into a LR Baggs Para Acoustic Guitar DI and Preamp first. Similarly, a dynamic mic like a Shure 58 sounds fine, but will do much better with a preamp of some sort. I prefer to use a condenser like an Audio-Technica AE5400. I also have the big brother of this amp, the 200-watt version. I like to take a line out from that amp and run it into the 100 for use as a stage monitor. The amp sound basically identical, so that eliminates the need for messing around much with the EQ – what you hear is what is going out to the audience. There's no tilt-back mechanism on the 100 but I find that a foam block like what's used for transporting a kayak serves as a nice support to lean it on. One other thing – this is a beautiful amp and deserves some protection. I don't think that Musicians Friend as of this writing stocks a cover for it, but ione is available at a reasonable price online if you look around a bit. Bottom line – this is a very nice little amp. Allowing for the gain issues noted above, I'm very pleased with both the 100 and 200-watt versionsNJKid
Hands down, this is the most stunning amp I have ever used with my acoustic guitar! The sound is absolutely gorgeous, warm, and true to the beauty of my guitar! I own a Martin GPC16 and use it with this amp. Even my husband, who isn't a musician but has an ear for sound, couldn't believe how beautiful my guitar sounded on it. Powerful little amp with a bunch of onboard effects including a 90 second looper (Note the product descriptions say 60 seconds on most major retail sites) however it can do 90 seconds and layer on as much as you like. My Gibson J-45 sounds beautiful out of this amp and with an LR Baggs pre-amp pedal I am below 1/4 volume and that's enough to fill a large living room full of sound. The bluetooth functionality works great and sounds really good. It does miss a bit on the low end when playing music from an iPhone, but that was expected. The effects are great, tone is spot on. Only wish for me is that you could blend reverb and chorus but you can only mix delay/chorus and delay/reverb. Not a big deal. I bought this little guy about 2 weeks ago and am really happy that I did. I am constantly tweaking my sound in search of just the right sound. This one gets me there for the most part. The clarity and depth of the low end was a great surprise. I am a solo acoustic performer for the most part occasionally branching out to duos and trios. I have a ton of gear but also seem to struggle getting just the right sound mainly because everywhere I play is different. This little guy is a great solution for small rooms or quiet settings. It's also a pretty good solution for larger louder gigs due to its line out options. I can go straight into the back of my different line array speakers and get a bigger beautiful tone that fills the room nicely. The FX are great and very easy to dial in. I also bought the 4 button foot pedal which makes the looping seamless. Vocals through this amp are clear and have the same options for quality fx. I tried several acoustic amps, but this one did it for me. It's also very light weight and even has a small integrated kickstand which is pretty cool. This has got to be the best thing to ever happen for Acoustic Singer Songwriter's who need a high quality Amplifier for Guitar and Voice/Microphone. The retail price is much lower than competition, and Musicians' Friend made me an even better deal with a 15% coupon. This Amplifier has it all. I can mount it on a Speaker Tripod and put it at ear level at a gig, and it has more than enough power all by itself to fill a 60 foot Bar with Tables. It has really nice controls and more effects and connection options that either of my other two amps. Let's just say that until I received this AMP, my favorite by far was my Fishman Loud box Mini. Bugera, like their sister Behringer products, are designed in Germany and manufactured in China. With a little work you can search Musician's Friend and find another German brand, manufactured in Germany, whose small amp is the 5 times more expensive inspiration for this product. I have bought and returned an amp from the more expensive option as it had a manufacturing defect (a noisy volume pot) but I did get a chance to look it over carefully and run it through its paces. The AC60 appears to have similar build quality, similar tone (turn on the color/colour switch to get that signature Tommy Emmanuel tone out of the whizzer cone single 8" driver), and adds an AUX input, tilt back legs, a standard sized speaker stand adapter, and a universal AC power supply that will work anywhere in the world. It is quite loud for 60 watts and mine weighs only 15 lbs and 12 ozs. The reverb and effects are first rate. It produces very little heat when running and I would suspect that in additional to the universal digital power supply it is a class D digital power amp driving the speaker. Being nearly end-to-end digital in design is different from its inspirational amp as that one is analog. I have found no reason to prefer one over the other (excepting the lighter weight of most class D digital designs). For some applications you might prefer an amp with a tweeter but I find the color switch does an excellent job making the frequency response with an acoustic guitar sound excellent. The mic channel sounds good with a mic for voice, the easy part, but also sounds fine driven with music from my phone (a much harder test though I did turn the bass up for the best tone). Turn off the color switch, choose a longer tail reverb with a bit more effect in the mix, add a tube screamer, and you've got a quite decent electric guitar option too (for which a tweeter design would be a liability as distorted guitar can be tough on a tweeter).Jon F.
The amp was great at low volume. Anything past a third of the way up got distorted. I tried 4 different guitars with all different pickups with the same outcome. Didn't handle lows very well at all. The vocals really didn't sound good at all. I was using an Audix om2 microphone. In all honesty my cheap Acoustic A15v amp sounded better for both vocals and guitar. Use it to amplify my Ibanez Classical acoustic/electric. For about the price of a horus pedal I got an acoustic amp with a nice sounding chorus built in. With only a 6.5 inch speaker need to crank up the bass on both the amp and guitar's tone controls. Otherwise sounds great. Only wish it had a direct out so I could send the signal to my other acoustic amp, but I can use my amp siwtcher box to do that (but without the chorus going to the second amp, unfortunately)bigdawg

If you are looking for an acoustic amp on a budget, look no further. The Acoustic A1000 is well made, sounds great and has the bells and epistles of a much more expensive amp. I have compared this to the Fender Acoustasonic 40 and there is no contest. I even play my Strat on a few songs in Channel 2 and use a Behringer DI to the PA. It doesnt sound like a Twin Reverb but it is also very acceptable. However, it makes my Martin GPCPA1 sound fantastic! I added a Boss Acoustic pre-amp pedal and the sound is so authentic! Cant beat the price at Guitar Center either. Do yourself a favor and try it out. It deserves recognition!!!!csman1951
I've had this amp for just about a year now and the sound of this amp is amazing. I originally went in to buy another brand (Fender Acoustasonic) but when I tried it out, I just didn't like the sound so I plugged into this model. Man, what I difference. Two inputs per channel, two channels, each with it's own effects bank. The effects sound great, and you can program up to 20 of your own presets. That takes a bit to understand how to do it though. I ended up buying the floor model since they didn't have any in stock, with a discount. When I got home, and after a few days of playing, I noticed a rattle that was coming from the head unit. I moved the amp to different rooms and tried different settings but it didn't clear it up. I brought it back to CG and they ordered me a new one, at the regular price of course. Had the new one within a few days. I've used it with the Bluetooth at an event and it worked flawlessly. Plenty of volume too. I've also recorded direct out to a Tascam recorder and it sounded great. The only thing I would've liked if it had a foot switch to turn off effects but that's about my only complaint. I even got a price match not long after I bought it when it went on sale. The auto-feedback killer is nice and it doesn't effect the tone, in my opinion. I play a Godin A6 Ultra and a Gibson J-180EC through it, both sound amazing.Freditor
This all-in-one acoustic guitar amp is a good fit for a singer-songwriter needing a reliable, portable rig to amplify voice and guitar in small & medium venues or small outdoor spaces (e.g., farmers markets). The amp has 2 separate channels, each with 2 inputs (accommodating either 1/4" instrument or XLR mic cables). Each of these channels has distinct dedicated EQ, FX, and line out (for recording or running to a bigger board). This is ideal for a single performer who wants to treat their voice and acoustic guitar separately (picture a reverb on voice, delay on guitar, separate EQ, and both running in dedicated lines to a recorder for live recording mixdown). But the additional two "passenger" inputs allow some flexibility for special guests or secondary instruments which can get their own level but piggyback on either channel 1/2 EQ/FX/output (e.g., a backup vocalist or keyboard). For many small venues hosting mostly solo/duo acoustic performers (coffee shops, farmers markets, etc.), this would be an adequate house PA, and would likely also suffice for open mic hosts in most situations. The wedge shape also can make it slightly awkward to carry at this size. This is a beautiful amp. Lightweight and small and packs a punch. Clear, crisp and true. It will showcase the sound of your acoustic guitar. Need very little eq tweaking to get this amp to sing. However… that said, the buyer should beware, although this is a stunning sounding amp, the company, in Germany, does not offer any tech help. The speaker blew out on mine and after repeated emails to the company they never contacted me back. It shouldn't be so hard to get a speaker replacement but boy let me tell ya, it was over 2 week of trying to find the right 8", 4 ohm, 250 speaker. This should be so hard it it's not exactally a common configuration. I did end up finding one, which actually sounds better than the Sica speaker that came with it. 3 weeks later I finally have a working amp again. Not cool for a working musician. Eigentlich wollte ich nur einen transportfreundlichen Amp kaufen – der Fender Twin ist für die Zwecke meiner Jazz-Archtop unnötig schwer und auch sonst überdimensioniert. Es stellt sich jedoch heraus: der era 1 ist nicht nur leicht , sondern sein Klang ist eine wahre Epiphanie. Dadurch habe ich auch entdeckt, wie super sogar meine alte Ibanez Montage 700 klingen kann, jetzt, wo sie endlich in vollkommener Klarheit verstärkt wird. Ein Genuss!
Habe mir diesen Amp gegönnt, nachdem mein Marhall AS80R nach 23 JAhren seinen Geist aufgegeben hatte. Nach Lieferung ausgepackt und ne günstige Gitarre, die zur Hand war (einfache Ibanez Dread) mit billigem Kabel (Klinke-Klinke) eingestöpselt, alles auf 12 Uhr resp. Effekte auf 0 – puh, die Gitarre ist laut. Aber es kommt einfach nur die Gitarre aus dem Lautsprecher! Wow. Hätte nicht gedacht, dass die einfache Gitarre verstärkt so gut klingen kann! Zu Hause dann mit meiner Taylor 310ce (Bj. 2002, ES1-System) getestet: mit Klinkenkabel schon super, mit XLR-Kabel (bei der Taylor damals im Lieferumfang, damit kann die Gitarre auch direkt in eine PA): sensationellerer, weicher, warmer aber absolut natürlicher Klang. Die Klangregelung ist sehr effektiv, die Veränderung des Shape höre ich entgegen manchen Testberichten durchaus. Die Effekte sind alle brauchbar, sie müssen aber auf jeden Fall sehr sparsam eingesetzt werden, manche klingen bei 25-30% Beimischung sehr schön (verschiedene Halls, Chorus, Delay). Wer mehr Kontrolle über Effekte haben möchte wird externe nutzen, dafür gibt es einen rauschfreien Effektloop. Dieser wirkt allerdings bei Verwendung eines gewöhnlichen Mono-Kabels nur auf Kanal 1 aus, sein Return ist quasi ein weiterer Kanal mit regelbarem Pegel. Wirklich berauschenden Klang erzeugt dann meine Bariton-Akustik an dem Amp (Walden B-1E) – da will man gar nicht mehr aufhören. Ebenfalls lässt sich eine Ukelele mit Piezo (Ortega LIZARD-CC-GB) wunderbar darüber spielen, da muss die Klangregelung zeigen, was sie kann, um einen gesunden Mix aus Nebengeräuschen vermeiden und typischer Höhenbetonung der Uke hinzubekommen, aber auch das geht wunderbar und schnell. Live lässt sich mit dem variablen Notch-Filter Feedback sehr effektiv und schnell rausregeln, ohne das der Klang groß hörbar beeinträchtigt wird (bei den dann erreichten mächtigen Lautstärken – der kleine Amp kann richtig laut!). Auf der Bühne hab ich ihn auch als Monitor verwendet (Schrägsteller für 25 und 35° ist dabei) und über das integrierte DI-Out den Amp ins Mischpult eingespeist: geht auch einwandfrei! Hier gibt es die Möglichkeit, den DI-Out entweder so zu schalten, dass die Klangregelung des aMp genutzt wird oder der nackte Klang nach der Vorverstärkersektion abgegriffen wird und die Klangregelung im Mischpult passiert. Gesang verstärkt der Amp so sauber, dass ich mir nun ein Boxenstativ gekauft habe, um ihn als einzigen Lautsprecher zu nutzen (Hülse auf der Unterseite). Die Phantomspeisung lässt sich je Kanal einzeln zuschalten, ich verwende ein Shure beta 87 oder ein Sennheiser-Kondensator-Headset mit externer Phantomspeisung. Fazit: extrem vielseitige kleine Kiste, wunderschön und damit wohnzimmertauglich. trotz hohem Preis: jeden Euro wert (Tipp: mal Ausschau nach Messeretouren = B-Ware halten, da gibt es die Wunderkiste auch schon mal für 950 €)

This amp is fantastic. For someone that is so used to having different modellers, tube amps, multi fx and stompboxes this is now all I need. I've been meddling with allsorts kf gear for 17 years in my search for tone. I feel I am now at the end. Managed to dial in 4 very usable great sounding patches in minutes just using the front panel, something I've not been able to do with any amp or modeller in a while. It djents, it can do blues crunch, it can do straight rock grit, chimey clean, and just big standard chuggy metal very well. It's quite light, but when you turn up the volume you can feel air moving, like you can with a much bigger cab or with a valve amp. For a 1×12 it isn't boxy at all, very open sounding. The Waza speaker is very harsh in the top and highs to begin with when you first switch it on, but after a few hours use the speaker breaks in and the harsh highs all disappear. For someone that has always used Celestion V30's this Waza speaker is just amazing and I'm definitely leaving it as is! The dynamic response to picking and rolling your volume knob down is just how a valve amp responds – light picking = cleaner tones. Dig in with your pick and the amp comes alive. Fantastic all round amp, Boss really have nailed it with this one.
Just picked one of these and it's been a joy to play. Pretty easy to use with quite a few options. Was able to dial in some tones that sound like my $800-1k tube amps. Honestly this amp is the best bang for your buck amp available imo. I really love the Waza Craft Greenback speaker. I love the .5, 50,100 watt options. Haven't even explored the software yet but I'm confident enough in this amp to give it a 5 star already. This of course is keeping in mind the fact it's essentially a budget amp price. Sound: Right out of the box? I didn’t even adjust EQs. Set volume and gain, and started playing. Took 0 effort to get 98% of the way to my live tone that is an Orange Rockerverb 100W MK2 and Marshall 212 with V30s. Features: I love the Tone Studio. I did have to pull a star from Ease Of Use because it may be confusing if you’re not good with computers. Ease of Use: If you can’t get a good sound out of this amp, return it, sell your guitars, and find a new hobby. That’s how easy getting a good sound out of this is. Quality: Seems pretty decent. I wouldn’t call it robust, but it doesn’t FEEL as cheap as the price would suggest. Value: 100% worth the price. I’d have paid $100 more for it if I’d have known how good it would sound. Manufacturer Support: I’ve dealt with Roland/Boss in the past, and they’ve always been wonderful. The Wow Factor: Looks good, sounds good, price is good. A perfect practice amp, that could stand in for a small venue in a pinch. Naturally my live rig is a bit much for my apartment, but this is just what the doctor ordered. Overall: Solid state amps have come a long way. A REALLY long way. I’ll be honest, being a tube snob, I had very low expectations. Overall: I may be mis-reading the manual but I've yet to figure out how to keep the wireless transmitter charged. I'm not new at this having gotten Line 6's wireless transmitters when they first arrived on the scene. They were easy to use and worked as advertised. While I am a huge Roland/Boss fan, I'm thinking they may have missed the mark in the "ease of use" category on the Katana Air. From a sound perspective, the amp, when plugged into a wall socket sounds great; just what you'd expect from a Katana amp. And when the transmitter is fully charged, the same can be expected. The problem arises when trying to figure out how to keep it charged. When running the amp on batteries only, this seems this seems to be problematic in that the amp stops charging the transmitter when the batteries are low. The problem is you don't know the transmitter is dead until you try and use it.My most predictable approach is to plug in the amp with the provided DC cable and do my charging while the amp is "hard-wired" to the juice coming from a wall socket.Once the transmitter is fully charged, in this manner, I can disconnect the amp and run it on a fresh set of batteries. This will afford you a "temporary" wireless operation. The transmitter that I received didn't have any where's near the claimed lifespan. I'd be curious to see how other's experience with the Katana Air played out. I will keep fiddling with the KA and if I discover what it takes to make it truly wireless, I'll get back to you in a follow up review. Strangely I did keep this item, hoping for a downloadable software cure.There is a nice free ap that accompanies the KA…..It allows you to change all of the amp's audio settings and to download free patch sets. I've been seeking a modern, portable, reliable practice amp that can satisfy BOTH Acoustic and Electric guitars since Line 6 introduced their Amplifi series. I loved the Amplifi's techie saturated concept but no matter how bad I wanted it to work… it was always a low-fidelity 'noise' amp first without the ability to produce clear, hi-fidelity sound for either my acoustic or classical guitars. Designing an amp that can accurately reproduce hi-fidelity, low distortion sound begins with a good designed, quality build and above average components. As the old proverb states, "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear", you can build a noisy amp but don't ever expect it to reproduce quality sound. Amplifi is the sow's ear. I thought about testing their newer Amplifi 30 but after many bad experiences testing a 75 and reading that I was not alone … I lost all confidence that they could do HiFi right. The Katana Air checks many of my must-have boxes and it worked without a hitch. It was designed as a small practice amp and not a single solution for all your gigging needs. Adding in the convenience features like smart-on and multiple wireless features that include power/updating/tuning/modeling/backing tracks/guitar, makes this the practice amp I have been waiting a long timefor. I’ve known about these for years but never pulled the trigger until now, I wished I would’ve gotten it sooner. I ordered the Yamaha on Saturday afternoon and it arrived on Tuesday morning, great job AMS! I opened it and immediately plugged in my SG. I was very pleased with the sounds from this amp. After watching many reviews I thought I’d skip the clean, crunch and lead channels, I went straight to the Brit hi and Modern channels and I wasn’t disappointed! Studio quality tone and very responsive to volume controls on the guitar. Most importantly, this little amp makes you want to play – highly recommend it!
Overall: overall – maybe the best sounding low wattage amp ever. only small difference in sound between this & a tube amp. weak point is lack of features. they really skimped. twice the price of other compared to other practice amps that have way more features. you're really extra paying for tone here.pro's – * truly terrific tones* even if you have a tube amp that sounds good at whisper volumes (i have a 15w egnater tweaker) it's so convenient to be able to play this on top of your desk.* clean and modern settings are fantastic. i don't use the other amp settings much, but they sound great as well. the only setting i don't like is brit hi.* effects sound good* tap tempo* good tuner* the features are weak* pricey – other practice amps have many more features. they sound pretty good themselves (just not quite as nice as this). so if features are important to you, get something else. digital amps these days all sound not bad to downright good.* are the tones here so much better that it's really worth double other companies' amps? honestly hard to say, but this one does sound the best* can't save settings* one knob control of all mod effects is really limiting* can use the software to tweak settings and effects, but as soon as you unplug, you lose them* max volume on delay is occasionally not enough. usually it's ok. but sometimes, you want a little more & doesn't have it* as mentioned, brit hi setting not that great* the name "modern" might be misleading. i mentioned that modern sounds good, but, it doesn't have enough gain to get you into mesa rectifier range. you're going to need a pedal for that.A
Overall: I have been wanting to leave a review of the THR5 for awhile now. Prior to purchasing it, I had used a 10-15 watt Orange Crush Amp & a Blackstar Debut amp. Neither of those 2 amps were exactly what I wanted but for the price, served a purpose. I was hesitant on purchasing the THR5 because it was twice as much. I have no regrets. If you have not had the chance to try the THR5 in person, video reviews will not do it justice. What I was looking for was a small amp that had sufficient effects built in so that I didn't need to hook up any pedals during an impromptu practice session. The Hall reverb is my favorite and was worth the price alone if it was the only reverb included. All of the amp models sound great, although I tend to only use the clean channel or crunch. Crunch can be toned down to remain clean but adds saturation without becoming distorted. Another bonus was that with the included software, additional compression and gate effects can be adjusted via a computer. These can be set as defaults for when after the amp is unplugged from the computer. I have used it with pedals and loopers as well. Its built well, metal casing. Aesthetically pleasing to sit on a shelf. Extremely lightweight and portable. Honestly this is the best practice/bedroom/portable amp that I have ever owned. Perfect for home or studio use. Good live in small venue, and works well for larger venue thru a board. The effects are precise and vocals come thru well. I use mine now for studio recordings with a 12 string Taylor and added a sub woofer (which the AC-60 allows) to give it a punch. Being able to plug in headphones is a huge ++ for practice. Highly recommend the Roland AC-60 for a beginner to pro. It will allow you to really hear yourself play and be 'in the pocket' to either play live, or more important for me, lay down clean tracks without using any digital effects from the computer, or rack.fboomer65
I've been through a couple acoustic amps lately including a Fishman Loudbox Mini, Crate CA-60D, and Acoustic AG-60. The Roland AC-60 is by far my favorite. It's not the loudest of the bunch and it doesn't have the effects of some, but what it does have is a clarity of sound -especially for vocals. All the amps I mentioned are great for acoustic guitars. I couldn't really tell you which is truly the best for that. But the Roland shines if you want to sing along with a guitar. With it's smaller size and the carrying case, it's much more portable than the others. Also of note is an output for a subwoofer if you choose to extend the sound range. The bass is slightly lacking since it only has 6 1/2" speakers. I would go for the AC-90 with the 8" speakers if I could afford it. But I'm more than happy with the AC-60.Groovy Jones

Open Box blemish minus a 10% promotion, minus my Backstage Pass and no tax equals nearly half off. Then Fishman threw in an official beanie and key ring! I'd actually been surfing around for a used Fishman Artist when I stumbled upon this Open Box Performer at Musician's Friend. I could probably have gotten by with a Mini but hey, why settle for a four cylinder when you could have a V8? Factor in weight, size and reputation… I called in the order. The blemishes were non-discernible and I'm enjoying this amplifier. I play a Martin Dreadnought Jr or an Epiphone DR-500MCE and sing using a Shure Beta 57A. The Epiphone is using an LR Baggs Anthem since its original pup broke and the Martin has its factory pup. All sound great after adjusting for volume, tone and reverb with minimal feedback. Note to Baggs fans: the LR Baggs can really howl. I'm using a small practice room but its nice to know that I have the watts to go large. If this amp never breaks, it will be one of the better amplifier investments I've ever made.Loudboxer
I plan to use this amp for live performances in small venues. So far I have plugged a Martin acoustic guitar with a Seymour Duncan Woody sound hole P/U into this amp, a tele and strat, and a microphone, and everything I plug into it sounds very impressive. I got this amp because it has the midrange speaker and the Artist doesn't. They midrange was important to me for vocal production. I am not disappointed so far. I have played professionally since I was 13 years old, I am currently 67 years old. I don't remember every being more impressed with an amplifier than I am with this one. I didn't expect the great sound from my Fender American tele and strat that I get this this amp. This is my first Fishman product. My brother has the Loudbox Mini and it sounds great, just not enough amp for what I need. Great product!OMBE
Just received my Loudbox Performer a couple of days ago. Spent 30 min one night dialing it in for my Gibson Hummingbird, then tried it with the full band last night. It sounded great, and was plenty loud for an Americana band with a full kit, bass, electric guitar, keys, and 2-3 vocals. Previously I'd been running my guitar direct through the PA, and it sounded good. Switching to the Loudbox balanced our live sound better with the acoustic opposite the electric on either side, and it added weight & dimension to my acoustic sound. It made for a marked improvement in our live sound. I could hear and feel it better, it had more definition, and as a result I got into a groove right away. Originally I'd intended to buy a higher end acoustic amp and tried a couple. They sounded really nice, but maybe too hifi "nice". Pretty/slick/etc. What I wanted was an amp that sounded exactly like my Hummingbird but louder. I'd heard a friend play his $4k+ Taylor through a Loudbox live and was impressed with the tone, and when I tried it I was really drawn to the sound. The Loudbox comes very, very close to replicating the sound of my guitar exactly (after dialing in eq) – most importantly, it stays true to the voice of my guitar. It also has a weight/warmth to it that I really like. *Btw- I'd been concerned about the covering tearing because there are a lot of reviews noting that. I checked the covering on floor models at my local stores and it was a mess – but I believe Fishman took care of this some time ago. I bought this as a second acoustic guitar amp. I've been using an AER compact 60 for many years, a high end German made acoustic amp with great features. I wanted a second amp to create a live stereo field for the guitar. i was thinking of getting a second AER for this purpose but decided to try the Rosette. I've always been tempted to have an amp by Mesa Engineering. Well, I'm really impressed with this amp. As most reviews mention, it takes awhile to dial in what you like but when you get there, it's really terrific. The built in effects are very nice – three different reverbs to begin with (one of them blends in chorus) and you have a lot of flexibility over controlling the effects parameters – rate, depth, etc. I have zero complaints about this amp. Unlike the AER the knobs are easy to see and read. I find no need for a preamp, though I have a Grace Design acoustic preamp. (I use that with the AER.) I'm having a lot of fun playing with the Rosette. To boot, there are three studio quality DI outputs, one that sends the signal post-effects, which is very useful. The engineers literally thought of everything on this amp. It's pricey, but with Sweetwater's easy payment plan (I'm doing six payments on this one) it's pretty painless. The guitar shown in the attached image was designed by Andy Manson, who has designed and built guitars for John Paul Jones, Ian Anderson, Martin Barre and others. Andy designed this model for Ian Anderson. It is now built under contract by Brook Guitars in England. We custom designed mine with a cutaway, making it the first of it's kind. I also have a custom made acoustic built by Andy Manson himself. With acoustic guitars of this quality, you want the very best in amplification. I think I may have found it with this Mesa Rosette 2X8.
I have a number of well known brands of acoustic amps over the years. This one stands above them all easily. I ordered the 10 inch because I like the depth of sound it offers. It accents the percussive aspects of the acoustic better in my opinion. Used this amp with a number of experienced musicians and they honestly were inspecting the amp because of it's natural sound in the room. It compete with anything Asus or Fishman puts out. In my opinion, it excels above them in many ways. Mesa really thought this out when they set it up. You kind of need to know how to dial in a good sound on an amp to use it. You need to know how to EQ something before you tackle this little beast or you will possibly be disappointed. I'm just being honest. If you don't understand sound and how to mix your instrument, it may not be the amp for you, but, if you do… Jump on it. It's worth every dime. The 10 inch version is not the full 300 watts. It is 150 until you add an extension cab, but I have not been wishing for more at any time or venue with it. It has a stand that allows it to be a stage monitor for your sound and offers an EXTREMELY good DI system to send your audio to the sound engineer with plenty of send options for the engineer. My sound engineer loves this amp for front of house audio and mixing. Mesa has not released an extension cab for this yet, but I honestly don't know that I will ever be in need of it. This thing gets plenty loud for any needs I have. I have been thoroughly impressed with this amp. If you know how to dial in sound and aren't afraid of the EQ of this amp, I say go for it. Without a doubt, this is the Best Acoustic amp, I have ever played through.. I play a Taylor K14ce, and no acoustic amp that I have used has ever duplicated it's true tone .. The only one that came close was a 2006 Genz Benz Shenandoah, with a 12" speaker… ( which I had sold) So I bought a new Genz Benz in 2020… terrible.. sent it back… But the Mesa Boogie Rossete, is a keep, And it's FANTASTIC for Vocals… Now I don't have to lug my Mackie P.A. system for my solo gigs… if your on the fence … Buy it you won't regret it…Lee
