I use this pedal for solo boost, 3 band eq is nice. There is much more going on with this pedal. I keep tinkering with it on its own to push my tube amps. Get this pedal if you aren't cutting through the band during your solos. Find your rhythm sound and then when it comes solo time, stomp on the tank and you will cut right through! I'm looking at other Fender pedals as well I think they are the under dog hidden gem of pedals out there. My advise get it!! If u don't like it, you will easily find someone who does!!Greg R

Let me start off by saying this pedal just arrived today. I've played through it for about an hour. I spent about 30 seconds adjusting the knobs. This thing is killer. It's super easy to dial in. Within 2 minutes I was blown away. It just adds something I didn't even know that I needed. It is currently on sale for and at that price it's a complete no brainer. I wouldn't even be upset if I paid full price. I would have been just as pleased. I have it set as a slight boost with a little compression right before my walrus voyager. Look, if you REALLY have to have a Martin D-45 sound, guess what Of course this pedal will never do that. BUT, if you need something that sounds somewhat acoustic-like in a band mix and don't want to carry an extra (not to mention fragile) instrument, then this will work just fine. Not authentic, not great, not amazingly life-like, just FINE. With realistic expectations this pedal is as good as any for what it intends to do. I use this in an A/B/Y rig. Tha A side goes to my regular pedalboard and amps. The B side goes to this pedal and a volume pedal direct to FOH via a direct box. I get the "acoustic" sound fed back to me through my monitor (or ears if that applies occasionally). I can have straight electric, straight "acoustic", or use the Y option to blend the two to my liking. Works for me, YMMV. I play "for-hire" mostly and my clients love the versatility of my setup. Also, DO NOT run this pedal through a tube amp if you want the best results. It will definitely work best either run straight to FOH or through a clean solid-state amp. Overall: Here's it in a nutshell, if you have a song or two to play onstage it can work but won't be a great sound. Positive features are response time doesn't lag, and it does have a reverb feature. If you like the sound and feel of an acoustic you won't like this. To say you wouldn't bring an acoustic to a gig for fear of it being damaged is kind of lame, maybe keep the expensive acoustic home but take the cheap one, you will get a better sound. I plugged a strat into a clean amps and it sounded better.
Have read many reviews both positive and negative about this pedal. The negatives were not specific but didn't hear their guitar and amp give an acoustic sound with this pedal. The positives were sometimes vague but they liked it. Then some went on to say they liked it not through a tube amp but through an acoustic amp or a PA system. I HOOKED IT up through a very small practice amp set clean and used the emulation out into a mixer then into a low power full range PA type system. Sounded excellent with neck single coil. Didn't try it with the middle single coil nor the bridge humbucker. I am very happy to have this pedal.Kenmorek

Great pedal! Simple to use, works very well with humbuckers, and single coils, but it really loves Strat single coils, and p-90 pickups. I have several JRAD pedals and they all work as advertised, and then some. The Lenny pedal has just two knobs, but those two knobs do much more than You would ever think ! I have a Boss CS3 compressor and I read that the OB.1 compressor was one of the best on the market. I already owned a Strymon El Capitan echo unit and was highly impressed. (It really creates those old tape echoes with some accuracy). So I took as chance and bought an OB.1. Where do Strymon get these random names from and why? By comparison the OB.1 makes the CS3 seem somehow dull and lifeless and the CS3 is a good little compressor. The OB.1 adds brightness without sharpness, along with a subtle widening of the sound. You really miss it when it’s not there. The OB.1 is a lot of money but if you want the clear melodic sounds of a Stratocaster back in the day, or make you sound come alive, then it is a must.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

The boosta grande, a guitar player editor’s pick, is back in a new compact chassis to conserve space on your pedal board. a clean boost pedal does nothing but pile on gain, right? well, some do, but that doesn’t create the experience players want. you see, added gain will push the amp’s front end tubes harder, creating more of the amp’s own harmonics, but that alone will make the amp seem too bright, sacrificing the tonal balance in the process. to achieve a transparent boost experience, boosta grande mildly rolls off some top end starting at about 1khz so that when the amp’s front end is driven harder with gain, the additional upper harmonics generated by the tubes aren’t excessive. boosta grande’s mission to preserve amp amp’s tonal balance ends with careful post-eq, but it starts with preserving the tone of your guitar. boosta grande’s 1meg ohm input is about the same as the front end of a good marshall or other premium tube amp, welcoming your guitar’s signal with wide-open arms, not loading down your pickups. in the middle of things, you can count on boosta’s 1% metal-film resistors for consistent tone and a rugged circuit board for tour-proven reliability. when the boosta isn’t engaged, a properly engineered true hardwire bypass means signal passes entirely around the circuit, from input jack to output jack without a hint of loading. when a transparent boost is the experience you’re after, get a boosta grande and let your amp’s tubes sing their song with more gusto.

When the pedal is switched on, it does exactly as intended. However, when you switch it off, supposedly bypassing the circuitry, the volume drops so much it sounds like the signal has been cut off. However, if you turn your amp volume to 10, you can faintly hear your guitar. Not really a good setup if you are playing live.thrptowne

Amazing little pedal, set the internal DIP to flat and not the "vintage" roll off (my opinion) even if you use zero level boost the overall buffering and sweetening to your signal is just better. Once on, you will forget about it (end of chain, after drives) only when you switch it off you'll realize, "oh yeah that makes everything sound better". What it does to the EQ and overall signal tone is unlike any other pedal I have used including all so called "based on EP3 boost circuit" stuff. The line boost really brings out the amp's potential tonality. Cuts through the mix and really enhances the amp's tonal character. Currently running it in front of a Blackstar 100 watt tube head that is paired with a Marshall 1960 Vintage cab equipped with Celestion V 75's. The sound is great. This is a great boost pedal, no doubt about that. I bought this used for less than half the price and while it does exactly what it should I have used boost pedals that are nearly identical that are at half this retail price point. If you have a lot of money to burn and are looking for the best boost this very well might be it, however this money may be better spent on a pedal that is more versatile and more noticeable in the overall sound of your pedal chain. This pedal is a clean boost and only flavors your sound slightly, and what it adds sounds very natural and very good; the build quality is top-notch aswell. So my rating is based on the fact that I feel such basic circuitry shouldn't cost as much as this does, and I would highly recommend buying this on the used market if you can get a nice discounted price.Rareintech

Klon flavored clean boost. great condition either lived on a shelf or in a pedal board. do not have the original box my take is the the boost makes the midrange sound more focused and tight, and can provide a smooth treble boost. will cut in the mix via mids instead of treble. this is a clean boost so if you re looking for an overdrive it s not your best option but it will bump the front end of a tube amp into some natural breakup when the output is set above unity.

I was looking for a boost pedal to drive an old Gibson GA-25 with a Strat. The Archer sounds above and beyond. It has plenty of volume to drive the amp and setting the gain between 10 and 2 and rolling off the treble smooths out the crunch while still maintaining it character. Used it with a Plexi 100 and a Twin Reverb as well as a Rickenbacker, Tele, and Les Paul with the same result. The Archer sounds fantastic and each amp and guitar sounds like that amp or guitar. Worked the same on other pedals. Used it to drive an OCD and it the perfect bump without having to use an amp with complicated switching. No noise from the pedal while toggling on or off. Treble knob is super useful to smooth out or add clarity. It was really easy to dial it in and there's a pretty wide sweet spot. It's super responsive to picking and fingering. I kinda want to buy another to have an Archer drive an Archer. Would that be weird?Nickname
The pedal is small and therefore pedalboard-friendly but is still built like a tank. The knobs and switch feel totally quality stuff, the chassis is rock-solid and good looking. This pedal can be used, just like a Klon Centaur, as a clean boost up to a mild unique sounding overdrive. It gives you plenty of volume and headroom (you generally have to keep the volume knob close to zero if you want to match the bypass volume) and the Gain control is very accurate and allows you to shape your tone just as you desire. It is a great blues or rock pedal and gives its best if put on top of a tube amp that's almost breaking up but you can still use it, as a regular drive pedal, in front of a clean amp and it's guaranteed to sound better than most of the amplifiers' internal gain stages. Not a cheap pedal, in line with its main competitors, but definitely worth the price. If you want a Klon-like quality pedal that really gives you the Klon feeling without destroying your wallet, the Archer is a perfect choice.reptile_breath
I used heavy fuzzes for many years, I decided a few years ago to switch to something different. Been switching between the germanium ocd and the Xotic BB preamp last few years. The Archer does what I was looking for. Sounds great with my guitar volume slightly turned down. I've never used one of those real klons. But I now can understand why everyone likes em. I bought this used through Guitar Center to boost the output of my Eastman 815 acoustic-electric mandolin, which has an internal microphone but was too quiet. I'm a hobbyist but play in worship settings. I was able to EQ the output to sound like the natural mandolin tone and to boost the volume which was important to me, since, on occasion, I play outdoors or in a large church sanctuary. The tuner is a great asset, making clip-on tuners unnecessary. The tone boost gives the mandolin even more volume for those times when you want to play a solo. The unit runs on a 9V battery or a 9v DC adapter. I happened to own already own a 9v DC adapter, and it gave the unit much more power than the battery, which was great. From the very first moment I plugged in both my Martin D42 guitar with it's Fishman pickup and my five string Stelling Banjo with the KAVANJO pickup system to their respective LR baggs Venue DI preamp's a smile lit up on my face. The sound, the controlled sound, the natural sound that came out of each device was absolutely wonderful. I would have to say that my banjo sounded incredibly smooth… And the guitar tone was the best I've ever gotten from my Martin D 42. It was a pleasure to listen as a strummed or finger picked each instrument. And you could tell that the audience was listening intently… There was no distortion whatsoever. And I've really just started using the device, and haven't fully dialed in the potential. I'd also read a lot about the tuner not being accurate… Well I have two Petersen tuners… Clamp-ons … one on each instrument and I double checked it with the baggs built-in tuner… And so far it has been spot on. The boost switch is fantastic and the mute couldn't be better. I am completely satisfied and delighted that I purchased one LR Baggs Venue DI for each instrument.
I've got 2 LR Baggs Para DI's and have been wanting to try out the Venue DI. I have a Taylor 814 V Deluxe, Taylor 614 and a Taylor 354. I always bring at least one of the 6 strings and the 12 string when I play. All 3 guitars have different tonal qualities, so I wanted separate DI's with EQing abilities for each. The Paras do very well, but I found the Venue to be quicker to dial in a great acoustic tone and it sounds more transparent to me. I love the boost function too!!! Very well built! Look, if you REALLY have to have a Martin D-45 sound, guess what Of course this pedal will never do that. BUT, if you need something that sounds somewhat acoustic-like in a band mix and don't want to carry an extra (not to mention fragile) instrument, then this will work just fine. Not authentic, not great, not amazingly life-like, just FINE. With realistic expectations this pedal is as good as any for what it intends to do. I use this in an A/B/Y rig. Tha A side goes to my regular pedalboard and amps. The B side goes to this pedal and a volume pedal direct to FOH via a direct box. I get the "acoustic" sound fed back to me through my monitor (or ears if that applies occasionally). I can have straight electric, straight "acoustic", or use the Y option to blend the two to my liking. Works for me, YMMV. I play "for-hire" mostly and my clients love the versatility of my setup. Also, DO NOT run this pedal through a tube amp if you want the best results. It will definitely work best either run straight to FOH or through a clean solid-state amp. Overall: Here's it in a nutshell, if you have a song or two to play onstage it can work but won't be a great sound. Positive features are response time doesn't lag, and it does have a reverb feature. If you like the sound and feel of an acoustic you won't like this. To say you wouldn't bring an acoustic to a gig for fear of it being damaged is kind of lame, maybe keep the expensive acoustic home but take the cheap one, you will get a better sound. I plugged a strat into a clean amps and it sounded better.
Have read many reviews both positive and negative about this pedal. The negatives were not specific but didn't hear their guitar and amp give an acoustic sound with this pedal. The positives were sometimes vague but they liked it. Then some went on to say they liked it not through a tube amp but through an acoustic amp or a PA system. I HOOKED IT up through a very small practice amp set clean and used the emulation out into a mixer then into a low power full range PA type system. Sounded excellent with neck single coil. Didn't try it with the middle single coil nor the bridge humbucker. I am very happy to have this pedal.Kenmorek

The la grange pedal is designed to emulate the famous british "plexi" amplifiers from the mid 60's. the wide variety of controls and switches, give you decades of legendary plexi tones, all the way up to the era of the modded amps from the late 80's and throughout the 90's. the boost function can operate independently within the pedal. with its own separate level control, the boost is activated via its own foot-switch to be either used as an independent boost to give the front of your amp or other pedals a push, or together with the la grange's main circuitry. fundamentally this is two independent pedals, with the boost function being in series after the la grange! reinhold designed the la grange pedal with an op-amp input, followed by five discrete class a gain stages and incorporated germanium diode clipping. the reason for this approach is to minimise the input noise floor while preserving the clarity and touch sensitivity throughout the entire gain range provided by the circuit. the la grange pedal is powered by a standard 9v battery or 9vdc regulated power supply. reinhold's advanced circuitry internally elevates the voltage to a substantially higher level. the higher voltage provides a greater dynamic range which closely resembles the feel of a real amplifier therefore running the pedal above 9vdc will not improve dynamics and even can damage the circuit, therefore only use a regulated 9vdc power supply!

I'm glad I decided to give this pedal a try. It's extremely versatile, but did take a little bit of time to find the sound that I wanted. With this pedal, you can achieve everything from a clean boost, to a soft clipping blues drive, to full on distortion if need be as the higher gain settings straddle the line between overdrive and distortion. It can even get a bit fuzzy at times depending on your settings. For me, I'm playing through a Fender '59 Bassman ltd. set to the edge of breakup (about 5 or 6) so I use this pedal on the low gain setting to push the front end and achieve a sweet blues/classic rock sound, and when I need that extra volume/top end push for solos I have the boost function right there! Honestly, that's one of the main things that attracted me to this pedal in the first place since I couldn't decide whether to get an overdrive or a boost. The solution being one pedal that does both very well! I would definitely recommend this pedal to anyone looking for a quality dirt box as this can give you the sounds you want for almost any style of music you play. I absolutely love this pedal. Sounds amazing and is built like a tank. I bought this pedal for a covers gig of mainly marshall style guitar music. My amp is a Swart Atomic Space Tone Pro (6V6 tubes) and I wanted to get a mix of low gain to cranked Marshall sounds from it – it's a great amp but will not do the marshall thing by itself. I tried using a Sansamp GT2 which I had lying around but it just wasn't getting me there – far too scooped with no way near enough midrange. Seconds after plugging in the La Grange I was hearing all the sounds I'd been looking for. It blends very well with the pokey midrange of the Swart but I think would be even better through a Fender Twin. In practice I mainly used the Medium gain setting, whilst rolling back the volume on the guitar for cleaner sounds. With the the La Grange on Medium I was able to dial in the perfect gain for the earlier rock styles (AC/DC, early Aerosmith etc) but a quick switch to the high gain setting and I was in Van Halen/RATT territory. As stated in many videos online this is not a high gain monster and you can't get to JCM 900/SL territory…but that's not why you're buying this pedal. It's fat and ballsy with lots of midrange oomph. I'm sure the La Grange could get a little hotter with a boost pedal behind it – something I still need to test. This things cleans up really well with the guitar volume knob and there's a huge about of volume and gain on tap with the Boost circuit engaged, which I found great for solos and actually gives that early Angus lead sound. The eq on this pedal is quite interesting as there's no Treble, Middle or Bass. However, between the Tone, Presence and Ch. Blend controls it's super easy to dial it in. The Tone knob is super sensitive so I found only slight adjustments from 12 O'Clock were required. I haven't tried the expression pedal input but I can imagine this being very useful especially if you're playing a wide variety of styles. Personally found the Variac mode a little saggy for my taste. The Swart, when pushed already has enough sag so not required for me. The only thing I'd change on this pedal is to make the knobs a little tighter. I find that they can get knocked very easily, but as long as you know where they're supposed to be it's not an issue. This is a great pedal, worth the money. I found it works best with a great clean amp – think Marshall non-master volume, Fender twin etc. Set up your amp with a great clean/rhythm sound. Then dial in the LaGrange for all your dirty work. IF you really spend some time dialing it in, you can get even more versatility out of it by reaching down and flipping some of the switches on the fly, or for whatever song might be coming up next in your set. It's responsive to guitar volume changes, just like a good Plexi. The clean boost switch is super welcome, too. Variac setting seems to work best with single coil guitars. Habe das Pedal zu Hause probiert, gibt das Signal unverfälscht weiter. Habe einen Auftritt damit gespielt, und der Tontechniker konnte das Gitarrensignal problemlos und in guter Qualität verstärken. Gut ist, dass zwei Ausgänge vorhanden sind. Also neben XLR für PA/Monitor kann man noch einen Verstärker betreiben, wenn nötig. EQ ist eher dezent, reicht aber völlig aus, um das Signal deutlich zu färben.

I was disappointed in the sound this unit provided. Sounded good at home but was flat live. It pretty much cut my sound probably a quarter of what was normal to me. Had to turn it up which then caused feedback even with the double notch filter on. Had to tweak on the fly. I actually had to put a feedback killer in the soundhole of my Taylor to kill the feedback. This was all during my gig! Not cool. This box would probably be best for home studio stuff but I will Not gig with this unit ever again. P.s I love Boss. I own 2 Katanas and various pedals. I have been waiting for some time for the AD-10 to be available. I like the Boss AD-2 as well. But the AD-10 makes it so I don't need anything else. I can run AC or 6AA batteries for the power. Then adjustable gain in on 1 or 2 channels even 1&2 at the same time. Digital EQ on both channels. Adjustable Low Cut 10-990Hz , Mid adjustable 200Hz-5.0kHz, Treble, Presence, and Level of eq. Anti-Feedback Reduction, 2 notch switches. 3 Types of Acoustic Resonance (Think Aura) kind of. To me it sounds more woody and natural. You can adjust the tonal quality as well. It's a fully adjustable blend with the pickup. Off, Soft or Hard Compression, 3 Delay effects, 3 Chorus effects, 3 Ambiance/Reverb effects, Boost, 90sec Looper, extra Effects Loop, Tuner, 10 memory Preset Banks. The constant striving to make even a really great acoustic guitar sound as good on stage (especially through other people's PA systems) as it does in a studio with a Neumann mic is probably like looking for a musical unicorn. I've tried LOTS of Acoustic pedals and amps, and the AD-10 is likely to get closest. It sounds fine through my PA, a Fender Deluxe Reverb, a Boss Katana 100 and even a little Bose S1 Pro. The upside is lots of functions (meaning you can tweak endlessly); the downside is lots of functions (meaning that it has lots of menu items to get your head around). Other pluses of course: two inputs with separate levels and eq; usable effects, tuner, reverb, comp and boost; noise reduction (gets rid of slight whine when using Boss WL-50 wireless); will run off a powerbank; acoustic resonance (still not a Neumann in a studio but useful) and especially 10 memories: so I already have presets to suit a Taylor, a Fylde, a Seagull, a Sire, a J160E and a Tele with a Fishman Powerbridge and I'm deciding which guitars to use the rest on. The looper would not meet Sheeran requirements but it's handy if you want to solo over a verse/chorus pattern you previously played. So far very good, and the manual is reasonably easy to follow. Nearly 5 stars, but that's reserved for when a pedal is as good as a Neumann.Mick C.

At a point several years back I only owned Active Basses, but in the space of two months proceeded to acquire several High-End Basses with Passive Electronics, I was in need for something in my signal chain to raise the output of the Passives to the level of my Active Basses. I took the advice of a close friend who's a true "Professional Bassist" who also knows a great deal about the technical issues of Pedalboards, Large-Scale Amplification and such and picked up the Xotic Bass RC Booster which was the highest-quality he could recommend (I'd rather spend the money once rather than upgrade from a "Beginner's Pedal" to a "Midrange Model" and so on…) That was once of the best pieces of advice I've been given in terms of gear, as to this day the Bass RC Booster is a main piece of equipment on my Pedalboard. Between the 2-Band EQ, Gain & Volume controls I'm able to raise the level of my own Passive Basses or a Bass that I'm using at a Jam or Open Mic to the levels of my Active Bass, which I have all adjusted to Unity Gain as to cause as little issues as possible. Two surprising use of note: with a minimal increase in Volume the Pedal becomes just as useful as a Volume Boost to both Passive & Active Basses for solos, drum 'n bass breakdowns and other times where it's necessary to step out into the spotlight a bit more. Secondly, when the Gain is pushed towards the higher registers you can even can a quite useable "SVT"-type Overdrive. Even players who play with a clean tone will certainly find this added bonus helpful in both live and studio situations. To sum up the Xotic RC Bass Booster, it's an extremely high build-and sonic quality, low noise & versatile Boost effect. Its additional use as a light Overdrive effects is just as effective in its field. I use this often on my Pedalboard, and would replace it immediately if it were lost or stolen. A bit pricey when initially purchasing, it makes up for that as you're buying a Professional Quality effect, and would not have any need to replace with a "better one" a year or so down the road. This is all one would need to cover this area of effects!
I have an Xotic AC Booster and it is one of my fav pedals. At the start of my chain – after the buffer – I have a Compressor, then an old DOD Preamp 250, followed by my AC. I like the sound, but had this setup for a while and was just looking to shake things up. I thought the RC ver 2 would be a great replacement for the DOD as what could be better than 2 xotics in series? Well, not this! The Comp (Wampler Ego; another pedal I like alot) did not play well with the RC. The sound was muddy and lost all definition. The RC alone was OK, but not great. Found the effect of Gain 1 to be pretty darn subtle and really not much better than my old DOD gain pedal. Had to crank RC Gain 1 to full CW to hear much – a very different pedal from the AC which is super responsive. I also found the adjustment for the RC Gain 2 pot to be very awkward for a quick adjustment onstage as is occasionally necessary between songs. So, I was pretty bummed out as I love the AC and I use an Xotic EP booster for regular lead boosts. Just did not work out for me. Hard to decide if I would recommend the RC. Personally, I am very picky about effects, usually use only 2 at most at one time (e.g. Comp + AC; EQ + Delay, etc.) . So I think i would say that I do not recommend…but you may like it.BCY123
I'm surprised at how much I use this pedal. I bought it to boost the signal of passive basses and it does that and a lot more. The EQ points are right where you need them. And because you can preset those as well as the volume, when you switch to a passive bass in the middle of a live performance there is no time wasted fiddling with knobs trying to match the sound of your active bass. Also it's useful as a clean boost on active basses for those times when your hands are busy and you can't adjust your amp in the middle of a song. Just pre-set the pedal to a little boost and any time you need it, you've got it with a quick stomp of the foot. The third use I find for this pedal is with effects. You can use it to put a little boost before any overdrive/distortion pedal it will increase the gain. I love this because I like the sound of the Morning Glory pedal, but it doesn't get quite dirty enough. Most pedals that get as dirty as I want don't sound the way the Morning Glory does so this is perfect for me. And the other way it's useful is to add bottom end to distortion pedals (which are famous for not supporting the low end very well). Preset a little bass boost and when you stomp the overdrive/distortion pedal also click on the Xotic RC.PDGood

I originally purchased it as a great volume boost for leads, but I eventually moved over to rhythm guitar and found out its a killer tone fattener for my Marshall JCM2000. I initially purchased this pedal only for lead boost. However, I have since found that it works amazing placed before my TS808HW to beef up the tone. I set the TS drive and level at about 9-10 o'clock and the tone about 11o'clock. I set the booster about 10-11 o'clock. This gives me a great overdriven tone. It's almost like having adjustable distortion class pickups. Whether I run the TS on or off, the boost stays on. Running 18v is the best way to go for my situation. One suggestion would, if you have an effects loop, run a volume pedal at the end of the chain for a master volume control. It goes without saying, run the Boost and TS into the from of the amp.Blueszman
I love this boost pedal so much! I owned the MXR Micro Amp for a while, but I found that it colored my tone way too much (too much low end). The MC401 on the other hand doesn't color your tone at all. It provides a very precise boost that pushes your tube amp into natural overdrive. The boost is extremely articulate and produces throbbing palm muting and clear chords. If you're in the market for a boost or a buffer, I'd look no further. I'm a jazz guitarist playing an 8-string classical guitar that goes higher and lower than a regular guitar. It has a K & K pickup and I my amp is a JBL EON powered speaker, which, for this instrument sounds better than any jazz guitar amp. I have used the Zoom A-3 preamp as well as an L.R. Baggs Venue DI. They are both very good but I'd say the Grace Alix is the best I've found. It has great features you can read about but I must say that the sound of my guitar with the EQ set flat is strong, clear and simply amazing! It's very well thought out. Worth the price.8-String Fred

Robert Keeley, a legend in the pedal world and such a fantastic guy. I own a number of his pedals going right back to when he was modding other brands many years ago and never had a problem with a single one of them. I'm confident that Robert would be there to fix anything if I did have a problem. The Katana was the first Keeley branded design and sounds as good as it ever did. It's capable of a pure clean boost that does not colour your tone one bit, right up to pushing into overdrive territory. One of the best clean boosts i have tried. Pairs well with almost any amp I've paired it with. Small footprint is one of the best things compared to the quality of this little guy. The king of tone! I don't use this to increase my volume but to fatten it up at the same output volume. Gives it more life! Also it has 2 trim pots inside for overdrive gain and treble cut off. I was debating between the mini and the original and glad I went with this. It has all the same features in a more compact and affordable price.Ammin

The guitar sound of the first black sabbath album is actually the result of a number of key components, tony himself not withstanding, but it is also the sound of the la100bl plus a dallas arbiter range master pedal that tony used at the time, allowing him to push the front end of the amp into overdrive giving him his signature distorted tone never before heard. there is a story relating to tony and his range master. in the days immediately before sabbath, tony was playing with a band located in cumbria and a guitar player in a local band said that he could modify tonys range master and that it would sound better. so tony agreed and had his pedal modified. tony never knew what the modification was but it sounded really good and gave his la100bl the gain he was looking for. the modified range master was used for recording and touring up until 1979. when, for some reason unknown to everyone apart from tonys amp tech at the time – it.

Best used on a channel with some tube gain already on tap (I run it through my clean channel with the crunch switch engaged on my marshall dsl). This is by far the best "dirt" pedal I've ever encountered, it easily dials in the sabbath sound but the controls make it easy to develop a sound all your own. Many Rock and Heavy Metal guitarist icons, far too numerous to mention, have used the Dallas Arbiter Rangemaster Treble Boost as part of their signature sound. IMO the Black Country Customs version, the Tony Iommi TI-Boost is the best treble booster of them all, and it is more versatile; it has enough drive, low, mid, high variant to get your own personal tone.John J.
