Acoustic Guitar Amp Comparison For Sale (Jan 2023 Update)

I use it with my Yamaha parlor 14-fret and Ibanez OO slotted-headstock 12-fret acoustic-electric guitars. With both, the sounds are rich and full. I don't need to fill a large room, just my living room. Even so, the volume knob doesn't even need to go past 9 o'clock for me to get powerful and distortion-free sounds.Boon

This was a surprise. I was sure this would sound decent but I was pleasantly surprised at the control & versatility. With a Stratacoustic, very clean & crisp, nice body. I tried all the normal dang Shure's everyone uses but this was great with a Blue Encore 100. Decided to try my daughters Roland Aerophone, very good tone overall. This would work for a little gig or practice of course, but for recording it would work well & of course you can mic this in a larger club/venue. Overall a fun, quality & versatile little amp. I recommend this, for the cost you can do a lot with it.MM

I was a little hesitant on buying this amp because of the size, but I decided to take a shot at it. I was very surprised at the power this thing puts out. I use it on my Fender Malibu acoustic electric and also on my Alesis Nitro Mesh Drumkit. It packs plenty of power for both. Highly satisfied with the amplifier. It has a mic input as well and is perfect for small gigs and jamming around the house. AMS offers a 45 day return policy which makes it a no brainer to purchase this thing. Excellent sound quality, bass reflex much better than expected. High fidelity with a robust bass reflex. Of course it has limitations being so small but the sound can easily fill any room or up to a couple of rooms.B-man

I originally bought the A20, the chorus went function went bad. I was supposed to get a replacement A20, but I was told the store delivery truck broke down. The demo A20 was pretty beat up, so I went for the A15 since they had it in stock. Less wattage, smaller speaker, no reverb, and no output with adjustable level.. The A15 cost less, but I would have rather had a replacement A20. That said, it's not a bad amp. I will wait before I ever recommend to a friend, based on my experience with the A20.None

O.K. Boys and Girls, I'll get right to the point. If you look at the input jacks on this combo amp, you'll see that the only choice for input #2, is a 1/4" plug. That means that, unless you use a converter to go from XLR to 1/4", you can't use a normal (low impedance) mic on input #2. Input #2 is the one with the EQ section on it. So, if you want to EQ vocals with this unit, you're out of luck with the on board EQ, unless you buy an external XLR to 1/4" convertor cable or plug. Then look at the #1, XLR input. There is no EQ on that channel. You plug your mic into this input and hope for the best. Without EQ you can't tailor the sound from your mic, with this amplifier's EQ. You are stuck with whatever your mic produces, and the tonal characteristics of your voice. So, if you need to roll off some highs, or accentuate them, you can't do it on this unit with just the XLR input on this amp. You'd have to process your vocals externally to this amp, them bring them into the XLR input on this amp. It's either that, or you'd have to get an XLR to 1/4" convertor and use the input #2. Other than that, Acoustic does a great job with these all-in-one acoustic style amps. I've used one for years. They are very quick to setup, have reasonable power for small rooms, and have good tone. I'd recommend these, especially for the price. Just be aware that the limitations on this particular unit, at least partially lies in the fact that they did not put a dual use XLR/1/4" jack on channel two. The old Acoustic AG30 had dual use jacks on both channels. What were they thinking when they designed this unit: no EQ for vocals? What the heck….?TruthMan

I have nothing but great things to say about this amp! Perfect for the solo acoustic artist. I've been a solo acoustic gigging musician for years and this is the best amp I've played through. You get a nice rich sound from your guitar and I love the reverb effects on both the vox and guitar. The chorus is a nice touch, though I don't use it much. I've played Marshall amps almost exclusively so I knew they'd handle my guitar well, but I was really surprised with the vocal sound. A very warm tone with minimal knobs for a quick set up. It sounds great mic'd or you can run a line out to a PA for further EQ if you'd like. It's light enough and compact enough to throw in your car for a last minute gig. Great for small to medium rooms, mic it or line out for a larger one and get rocking. You won't be disappointed.CT

If you've been reading (and watching) the reviews, then you know this is likely going to be a great amp. However, even after researching it, there were 4 unknowns for me. These are now clarified, now that I own this amp. 1) Bass. Yes, it has more than enough bass. 2) Clean sound. Yes, when reverb and chorus are off, the clean (natural) sound is fantastic. As good as the chorus and reverb are, I think I'm going to be playing it "clean" a lot. 3) Weight. As you know, it's heavier than most amps in this category; don't worry about it. It's not bad. You can always put it on a small self-made dolly if need be. 4) Plug-In for the Footswitch pedal — what is it, and how does it work? The one that's made for this amp has two buttons: one for reverb, and one for chorus. Yes, you have to pay extra for this (and the amp is also a bit more expensive) — but worth it. Very happy with this amp. It is such a warm, fantastic sounding amp.B

Speaking from experience with various sound reinforcenent systems. There are many options here with the phantom mic power and even an rca input for devices (drums or other audio.) Other reviewers note the solid build and good looks. I have one in white. Marshall knows speakers and this closed back box provides wide range good definition, and good projection. Not box like. I have run electric guitar or bass straight in. I would think it fine for jazz guitar. Or use your choice of pre amp devices/emulators. I gotta tell you…this little amp has very much impressed me in ONE way; it is very clean. This is my first experience with the Acoustic brand, and I am pleased, and have become a fan. I got mine as a display model at Guitar Center to play solely with my acoustic/electric Fender T-Bucket 300CE—and it sounds absolutely phenomenal (but only through the clean channel). This is an electric guitar practice amp; but I didn't realize that when I bought it, because of the brand name (yah…35 years of playing and I'm still that stupid, LOL)—I thought it would be a good 20 watt "acoustic/electric" amp, and my misunderstanding turned out to be a blessing. Obviously the 'drive' channel is gonna sound horrible with an acoustic/electric…I hated it, and never tried it a second time. The clean channel is fantastic though. Just out of curiosity (since it IS an electric guitar amp), I plugged in one of my Fender Stratocaster's, and THAT blew me away on the clean channel, yet still disappointed me on the drive side…so it's my conclusion that the drive channel sucks on this amp regardless of guitar type. With either acoustic/electric or just electric guitar on the clean channel, there is no hum, no pop, no squeal, no noise what-so-ever whether the guitar is being played or sitting with full volume. It is dead quiet until you hit them strings, and then it sings like an Angel. If you want distortion (at any volume), there are better amps in this price range. If clean is your thing, and 20 watts is plenty for you (it can be mic'd if needed)….then I don't think you can do better than this amp. It's amazing. On a side note, I am so impressed with this Acoustic brand amp using an acoustic/electric, that I just ordered an Acoustic A1000 today as a Christmas gift to myself…and I plan to buy another one of these G20's to have TWO as powered monitors (because the A1000 is capable of running two output's). I was solely a Fender guy (guitars and amps), but Acoustic made me re-think.White Dog

I use this amp as a practice amp. Ended up miking it up for recording. Sounds fat. Sits well in a dense mix. I've even used it for gigs. For when guests want to sit in. Just throw a mike on it. And have the f.o.h. take it from there. Simple to dial in usable tones.Kev

the most amazing lightweight personal amp I've ever owned. It has a microphone input too. The power and big sound from this is almost unbelievable. I can't turn up the master volume past 3 in a practice studio, so lots of grunt left for outdoor settings. Wish I'd bought this earlier. And sooooo amazingly lightFerenc M.

I bought the Vox VX 50 AG, to use as a practice amp at home. I've been more than satisfied with it's tone and volume. It's a nice compact body size, and is easy to move around because of the low weight and sturdy carrying handle. The controls are easily accessible on top, and have a quality feel to them. Overall, a very good amp that I would purchase again, and recommend to others!Gary

This is the lightest amp I have ever seen. It has power to spare, good onboard effects, and provides surprisingly clean sounds at all frequencies. Don't be fooled by the small size. This amp could be used in a wide variety of performance settings.Indiana Bob

I am not a Guitarist. I'm just a guy that enjoys playing guitar(i reserve that title for those that REALLY know what they're doing). I use the AMP about 4hours every week in a Worship Band. It has plenty of volume for me. I have never had the AMP at max volume. Plays well through the sound system. Not a lot of effects but I have enjoyed what it has. My GOTO sound is Delay with Chorus coupled with my Classical Acoustic. The box isn't exactly square so it has a slight wobble to it. It's certainly not a high-end so you might have to make minor adjustments to the box itself to get it square/level. I simply adjusted the rubber foot pads. All-in-all I am Extremely satisfied with this AMP.Matt the Guitar Player

I bought this for a regular weekly gig at an old classic hotel in our coastal tourist town. They don't want me to be too loud for this gig, so this amp does the trick nicely. Best of all, it only weighs 18 lbs., versus my old 32 lb. original Fender Acoustisonic. Now I carry my entire setup – guitar/mic/stands/cables/stool – to this gig in my golf cart, and roadie it all up the steps easily. So it is very useful for what I need it for, but I gave it a 4 because while the sound is good and clean at moderate volume, I hear some distortion if I turn the volume way up, and the low end is not as full and rich as I got with the heavier speaker.Charlie Apalachicola

I bought this amp because my 18 year old Ultrasound cannot handle the K&K electronics I have in a custom built guitar. They tend to overload the amp and it distorts a bit. Plus the effects on the Ultrasound are not the very good. The main difference between the Fender and the Ultra is the Ultrasound gives a more natural tone, and the Fender is a bit brighter and not as natural sounding, which is fine for me. I am going to do a video and compare them sided by side next week. Plus I also want to hook both amps up and see what they sound like together. The Fender chorus is a HUGE difference over the Ultra. Fender's is a lot better. and fuller sounding. Very textured and creamy. That said, I would like to see the other effects each have their own separate knob so the musician can blend things together and not have use presets. Just a personal preference as I am a control freak when it comes to my sound. As it is however, I use a Line 6 Delay modeler for delay and looping (I am an instrumentalist and solo performer) so it is not that big of a deal for me the way they have the effects set up. The amp is light which is a plus for me as I have a bad back and lifting heavy gear is not an option for me. I am also not a fan of the color of the amp, but when it sounds this good who cares what it looks like! Great deal for the money too. I also bought the foot switch which I was not happy about as amps used to come with foot switch included and this one cost me extra! Other than that, no complaints.Mike

These amps are amazing! The harmony pedal is so tight to the vocal, the clarity in the acoustics are great on voice and guitar. The reverbs are quite a large hall with only 1 setting, so personally don’t use the reverbs too heavy, chorus is great, delay is great. Simple looper on there, but don’t personally use, I connect an alternative looper as difficult to use live. But overall sound of acoustics and depth are really top notch! I bought two and gig with my partner with just these two as I couldn’t find anything as clean with such a cool harmony pedal. 2 d.I out inputs on thé back make it really good for recording live sessions too!Corrie E.

I had a Fishman Loudbox before this amp, and I was completely satisfied. I believed I had it all – and I STILL know that Fishman creates an awesome acoustic amp. Then one day, I saw a demo of this amp at a local music store while travelling and I decided to play with it for a few hours. Well, unbeknownst to me, I opened up a black hole money sucking vortex, and sure enough within two months I bought one of my own. The first thing that captured my attention with this amp is how little . . .and yet LOUD this amp really is. Quite frankly, I can't recall ever feeling so confused about the size versus the sound output on a device. Obviously, the smaller, the more portable, but often it comes with a significant sound downgrade. To me this is now the new gold standard on what a small portable amp can output. The next thing that caught my ear was just how much the amp brought to life the natural sound of an acoustic guitar. It has standard tone controls, but in addition it has three different resonance modes you can add – and they're not gimmicky. I have my favorite, but all three add a flavor to the sound that is warm and, well, wood grainy. Finally, I was unable to resist its siren song charms after hearing what it can do if you plug in a vocal mic. With the additional ability to add either a lower, upper, or unison vocal in conjunction with your own . . . geez this thing is perfect for a portable acoustic musician playing to small groups. Add in a dual footswitch and you gain even more control, including a looper. Serious, if what I describe is what you're looking for, look no further. A great mini amp suited to acoustic guitars for private use applications in living rooms or bedrooms. The sound quality is very crisp and clear. There is a choice of microphone emulation to simulate mic-ing up your acoustic guitar. The signal from this mini amp can be fed into a PA or a mixing desk using the Phones output socket. This amp is not really suitable for rock electric guitar sounds like crunch and distortion. The Yamaha THR5 is more suitable for this purpose.Danny

I have looked at the Yamaha THR line of amps many times in various retail shops. Finally saw one on MF in open box condition. Thought, "What the heck." Looks and functions as new. I bought the THR5A to use with my acoustic-electrics. I wanted a small portable amp with good effects for small venues and home practice. For me, a solo singer song writer playing originals, this little amp is a true gem. I use it for effects support in stereo, the other line run through my 40 watt Fender Acoustasonic. For years I have used the durable Acoustasonic as my PA, monitor, and for my vocals, and my Boss RC3 Looper. The THR5A is used simply to tweak the sound of the guitar. The effects are very nice, lots of range to dial in. The modeled Mics offer enough variety to cover the 3 different AE guitars I use. (Carvin AC175, Carvin AE185, Huss and Dalton CM). I can even use my OCD pedal through the THR5A for playing blues leads over the Loops. I would recommend this amp to any player of AE guitars because the sound quality out of this small inexpensive amp is truly amazing. But remember young squires, the THR5A is a very low watt amp with tiny speakers, so do not expect it to support you in a setting of more than 15-20 attentive listeners!Surflad

It seems that Fender makes an amp for every use, want and need, and this one satisfies on numerous levels. I'm setting up a studio in my one car garage/mancave, I've already warned my neighbors, who so far seem amenable, and I have placed a Marshal MG15 series DFX (a gift from a friend) and now this Fender Acoustasonic 40 which can get quite loud for the space involved. The Fender is, so far, strictly for practice and the fact that I can add a mic is both impressive and very handy in such a small and handy amp. I brought it home only last week and have explored several tonal settings and, having just scratched the surface, I can't wait to see what else it can do. And it is, so far, obviously perfect for small venues. So, as it happens, it seems I'm more than a bit of a Fender fan. In 2006 I bought a Fender Sunburst Stratocaster (a primary must have guitar.) and a Blues Jr. amp; and then a few years later, I added a Butterscotch Blond Telecaster (a longtime dream realized) and eventually, a Fender 200, 200W acoustic amp to complement my Taylor 614ce for in house use [all bought through Guitar Center with the help of Nick], (Neither of which have made it to the man cave. Yet.) So, do your due diligence, read the reviews, go to Guitar center and ask to try one out, and if they don't have one on site, I'm sure that, if they have a manager as good as Nick Giordano at the store in Murrieta, Ca., they will order one for your trial pleasure and you won't be sorry.Dave

Love this little amp! I got this amp a couple of weeks ago at my local Guitar Center in Memphis. I went in looking for this amp and actually got it for half the price that they had on it. Nice little amp that really sounds great using my Gibson Hummingbird thru it.Sean

The Fender Acoustasonic 40 40W 2×6.5 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier is a wonderfully portable and good sounding acoustic amp. I tested the Fender Acoustasonic 15 15W 1×6 and I thought it had a good sound but I didn't want the Chorus effect I wanted the Reverb effect and the 40 had reverb. It cost more to get the 40 over the 15 but I got the reverb, more power, and a nice tone for the price. Except for the reverb the 40 s a bare bones no frills amp and that's what I wanted. By the way It is just as portable as the 15. The quality of the amp is realized as soon as you open the box. It is well-built and quite attractive. It has a big sound for such a small package. I plugged my Taylor 714 Nylon into it and set the Amp EQ knobs flat. I adjusted the volume on the amp. The EQ knobs on the Taylor were flat with half volume. I played a bit then adjusted the EQ on the guitar. When that sounded good I flavored that tone with a bit of reverb and that was good enough to get me through the afternoon. I have other settings for different songs or environments but this was a good place to start. I plugged a microphone in and that is a separate channel that requires its own EQ. There is no balance control except your ear. It also works well when you plug in other devices for backing tracks, etc. Overall, a great amp for a reasonable price.Bart

Does what it supposed to do with a couple added features. The sound is pretty good with good tone, just wish it was a bit louder. No DI output but it does come with a footswitch which is a nice feature. Some of the effects are awful, but some are pretty cool with a little tweaking. I did buy the modeler box that has a DI and it works pretty good for tone control. I use the amp EQ kinda flat then use a little boost with the modeler box for a change in sound. Mixed with a little effect and its a nice variety of tone with just a couple clicks. If you are playing anything bigger than a medium room, this might be only useful for the guitar signal. You will need a PA for the vocals. But for small rooms it will serve its purpose. And for the price, you can't beat it.mapix

Just arrived today. I couldn't believe just how good it sounds. A very punchy amp with great sounding effects, What I really love is the feedback control. It is a beautiful amp and I couldn't be happier. This amp really brings out the acoustic sound of my guitar. The product is great for the price. Period. I love that you can control the amount of FX for both the mic and the 1/4 guitar input separately. Also great that you can control main volume for both separately. The FX are a little bit limited, but is really all you need for an acoustic set. I do wish my pedal effects worked through the amp, but I have found that my zoom pedal doesn't work through the amp, I suppose because the amp already has its own effects. There MIGHT be a way to do it, I haven't really played around with it too much. The sound is good though, and its a great amp for jam sessions with friends or small gigs. One thing I noticed is the faux leather started to rip on one of the corners, its just kind of a cheap vinyl wrap…but that doesn't effect the great sound and price IMOJimmy Jammer

I recently grabbed this beauty to use with my array of acoustic electric guitars (Gibson L-00 Rosewood, Martin 000-17E, Taylor 324ce, Breedlove Oregon Myrtlewood Concertina, and Breedlove Premier Adirondack/Rosewood Concert). I will especially need it when it comes time to play shows again, and I was interested in this amp as it has two channels (one for guitar and one for vocals). The sound is perfect and so true to the tone and nuances of each guitar that I'm mostly just mad at myself that it took me this long to get ahold of this amp. It is deep and full sounding and also has an excellent grouping of effects (the delay and reverb are stellar). There are more expensive acoustic amps out there (I own one of them) but this is the best that I've used. It will give you absolutely everything that you need to annoy your neighbors or to perform in front of a small-to-medium-sized room full of people.Tyler from Oregon

Overall I'm very pleased. Other reviews have covered most everything, so I'll just add a few comments. While I love the sound of this amp, it's pretty under-powered when used with dynamic mics or a passive guitar pickup. I have a Taylor 712 ce with a K&K mini installed, and it benefits greatly from running the signal into a LR Baggs Para Acoustic Guitar DI and Preamp first. Similarly, a dynamic mic like a Shure 58 sounds fine, but will do much better with a preamp of some sort. I prefer to use a condenser like an Audio-Technica AE5400. I also have the big brother of this amp, the 200-watt version. I like to take a line out from that amp and run it into the 100 for use as a stage monitor. The amp sound basically identical, so that eliminates the need for messing around much with the EQ – what you hear is what is going out to the audience. There's no tilt-back mechanism on the 100 but I find that a foam block like what's used for transporting a kayak serves as a nice support to lean it on. One other thing – this is a beautiful amp and deserves some protection. I don't think that Musicians Friend as of this writing stocks a cover for it, but ione is available at a reasonable price online if you look around a bit. Bottom line – this is a very nice little amp. Allowing for the gain issues noted above, I'm very pleased with both the 100 and 200-watt versionsNJKid

Hands down, this is the most stunning amp I have ever used with my acoustic guitar! The sound is absolutely gorgeous, warm, and true to the beauty of my guitar! I own a Martin GPC16 and use it with this amp. Even my husband, who isn't a musician but has an ear for sound, couldn't believe how beautiful my guitar sounded on it. I recommend this for any acoustic player! I use it for guitar and vocals and have been so impressed. The built in effects are perfect for what I need- nothing fancy but tasteful. As an owner of both the Fender Acoustic 200 and the TC Helicon Voicelive Play Acoustic, I can tell you that this unit sounds better, avoids the unnecessary clutter of using a traditional acoustic amp with a footpedal, and is everything you could ask for in terms of an acoustic singer-songwriter set up. On the vocal side: the harmonies are spot on, sound super authentic and non-robotic, and the reverb and effects are superb. On the guitar side: seriously enhances the sound of your acoustic instrument and the effects and reverb are top notch. Couldn't be more enthusiastic about this amp!! Buy it!!!Osage

I have a Fishman SA220, and a Bose L1, with subwoofer and Tonematch. I can tell you this amplifier is a lot of fun. I've never really fooled with loopers and harmonies. This makes it simple, even for an old man. This is on par with the other systems I have. Only it seems crisper to my ears. Plenty of power, great tone, and effects I'll actually use. Not sure about longevity yet, only time will tell. So far I love it.Mark

To start I didn't keep this amp. This was my 1st acoustic amp and I was torn between this Fishman and the Genzler aa mini. When it arrived the packaging was perfect and so I set up and gave it a whirl. To my disappointment the amp was making a crackling and popping noise randomly as I played through it. Wasn't real sure why but knew for the price I definitely couldn't keep it. That said, the amp had great tone I thought and loads of features! So I could have just tried another but I took it as a sign and with AMS assistance swapped for the Genzler with no hassle at all! I've heard great things of these Fishman acoustics but…I love the Genzler AA Mini. Only downside is not as many effects but it's acoustic…I really am pleased with what it offers and the sound(mic and guitar) is fantastic imo!!! Thanks AMSBrent

I did a lot of online research and played a lot of acoustic amps in stores before I settled on this one. It's by far the best in its price range. You can get quite loud with excellent clarity that replicates the authentic tone of your guitar. Playing and singing through the amp sounds great with no distortion and it does a great job of giving what I'd call space to your voice and instrument. An all around great amp for practice, busking and other live performance venues.Geoff

Bought this amp on sale advertised as Demo model. The manager sent me a pic of some scuffing on the top but, but when I received it I was surprised to find damage all over the amp. Dings, scratches, torn material all over. The amp sounds great, but there is no way it acquired all this damage sitting in a Sam Ash store. No way. I still like the Amon but would have insisted on a larger discount if the true condition was revealed. Feeling duped.Billymo

I love the way my Martin HD-28 with the Baggs system sounds through this. Very powerful and sits great on a Musicians Gear deluxe amp stand. I am not thrilled with the vocal sounds though. I usually use a Shure SM-58, but I've tried an SM-58, SM-57, Beta 57 and a Sennheiser e835 and I still can't get a nice vocal sound out of it. So, still working on that. Wish it had an output for an extension speaker. I may have to buy a powered speaker and use the DI and see if I can get a better vocal sound that way, although was not planning on that additional expense.boots149

A fine amp for a bistro or restaurant gig with 75-100 people.It sounds super with the large jazz box (L5 type) guitar I play, plus I run a small CD player through the other channel that supplies background music for my instrumentals. The 29 lbs. is a real plus for a 70 year old like me. I just wish I'd known about this amp around twenty years ago. It may not have been around then. I would suggest getting the amp cover since the only negative comments seem to be about the finish on the amp being fragile. Well worth the money.[email protected]

've been playing blues and jazz gigs for over 20 years. This is a well rounded addition to my existing PA and stack when needed. The stand alone feature for smaller gigs was an attractor, but I purchased it as a practice amp for my home studio. After playing with it I used it on a small coffee shop gig and it excelled.Jazzman

In searching for an Acoustic Amp my three criteria were that it be at least 30 Watts, have two separate inputs/controls, and stay in my budget. I narrowed down my list to the Acoustic A40 and Fishman Loudbox Mini. Though I was drawn to the Loudbox Mini's smaller size I chose the Acoustic A40 as the price was about $60 less and it had the bonus of a headphone jack. In the end very happy with my choice. The amp does not have the annoying buzz that so many amps seem to have when you are not playing. When you are playing the sound is deep and definitely has the power to fill the room. The built in effects panel offers a wide range of options and allows you to save personalized settings. I also like the combo XLR / 1/4"" jacks. Think Guitar Center has done well with this private label amp. It sounds awesome, is built solid, flexible, and well worth the reasonable price tag.Matt

I lead worship at our church and play several outdoor events every year. For years I have used my Crate CA125 amp and it has served me well, but I could never get a really nice sound out of it and had to play through an old DOD Acoustec pedal to get a sound that was close to what I wanted. Out of curiousity I plugged into the Acoustic A40 at Guitar Center, and wow! The tone was amazing. Wonderful bass response and really nice, clear highs. I like the simple interface, an easy to manipulate 3-band EQ with a sweepable mid. I like the less is more approach that they've taken with this amp – the bottom line is it's very easy to get a nice sound. The preset effects are nice, I really like the reverb effects and the chorus is nice too. The amp also has phaser, delay, and flanger, but I wouldn't have much use for those unless I was recording lead guitar lines for a backing track or something like that. The Bluetooth is great! The 1/8" aux input jack on the front is very useful also. There is no individual volume control for these two, you just control your volume on the device you're using and it sounds very clean with a wide volume range. The amp comes with 20 preset effects patches, most of which are pretty nice (but not #19, oh it's horrible). There are also 20 channels available for user presets. What's less than stellar? Editing effects. Very unintuitive and at times frustrating, and the manual isn't much help. It took me some time and trial & error to get things dialed in how I wanted. I do like that I can take an existing effects setting, add other effects to taste, and then save it as a user preset complete with a programmable name of my choice, pretty cool. When you have an effect turned on you get it on both channels, no choice there but with reverb and a little chorus it works very well for guitar and vocals. If you need more flexibility you could step up and get the A1000, but for a player like me this amp has all I need. 2 thumbs up.Rob

Love my Fender 15, got it a Thrift store for much less than a new one, it was in great shape and sounds awesome, with rich deep sound. Alot louder than I figured on before I got home to try it out. Its very well Builth box and high-end knobs with a vintage Fender look. I highly recommend this little amp for convenient practice or when on the go to jam with friends. The separate Mic input and volume knobs are nice when you want to sing and play at the same time. I have a huge 4 speaker Yamaha Amp that is huge, but this little amp rivals it when both are set at lower volumes. Also, this one is easier to carry on the go, and mine sets in my living room next to my guitar for easy practicing while my huge one takes up too much space in there, so I only roll it out when needed.jimdandy-2007

Purchased as Xmas present for my teenage daughter who is a budding acoustic guitar player but also plays electric occasionally with clean tones only (no use or need for distortion or overdrive). Small size and ample volume for her needs make it great addition to her room. Lovely clean sound for her Yamaha electro-acoustic and my Fender Strat (which she has stolen!!). Built in chorus is nice addition but nowhere near as nice a sound as a dedicated pedal. Sufficient tone control and option for mic as well plus headphones out if desired. Simple and nice quality for affordable price.Duncan

I purchased the Loudbox Mini Charge to use in small settings as a solo fingerstyle acoustic guitarist. So far I've found very little I don't like about this amp. It has great volume and tone for its size … it really sounds wonderfully articulate despite the fact it simply can't match the headroom of larger, more powerful units. Then again, it's designed for small venues. The reverb and chorus settings are well-executed and pleasant sounding and the three band eq is responsive. Bluetooth is easy to pair and use making this a potential boon at deck and tailgate events. If I had to list negatives my first gripe would be that the channel two input is XLR only. It would have been nice to see a combination jack here for times when players want to use a second instrument input. However, a passive DI box will solve that issue. The other missing feature is an anti-feedback circuit. There is a phase switch but the lack of a true auto-notch on an amp in this price range seems strange. Finally, the on-board battery makes this unit heavier than it looks. It easily outweighs a Fender Acoustasonic 90 even though the Fender is physically twice its size. Those issues aside, the Loudbox Mini Charge is a great performing little amp with the bonus of being battery powered when needed. I'm definitely a fan.GS

So far I've just practiced with it at home and the sound is superb, especially the low end being very present and not muddy. Big bonus for me is I can easily carry it in one hand and guitar in the other so no need for multiple trips. Another reason I got it is for my outdoor gigs where access to electricity can be iffy. Wish I would have got this a few years ago when they first came out. It's made my setup easy and I sound great.Fierce Grace

I've been a professional acoustic soloist for 12 years and the Blackstar Sonnet 120 is the perfect amp for small to medium size gigs. The external footswitch is necessary for the mute function but well worth it. The speaker stand adapter, along with the unusually high headroom, makes placing the amp extremely easy, even in a small space. The bass response is amazing. Very strong low end without the 'hum inducing boom'. When you dial in your sound on the Sonnet, you can clearly hear the effect of each knob. In other words, each knob does it's job obviously yet evenly. The guitar sound thru the Sonnet is more natural than any other amp I've tried. (I've been using the Fishman Artist and Performer for the past 4 years. Very, very good amplifiers.) The vocals come thru the Blackstar Sonnet 120 with clarity and the overall sound of the amp carries very well. If a 180-watt version comes out, I'd buy that one in a heartbeat. Blackstar products are among the absolute best on the market.Jay

This amp has a wide range of settings to dial in whatever sound you need for various types of guitars and pickups. I was a little disappointed in the volume limitation when plugging in my acoustics with passive pickups- they just didn't have any punch even with the dial turned up, but that was corrected somewhat with an XLR>RCA converter jack to boost the signal. Also the pre-amp in the effects box I have does the same thing. It produced great tone and presence on an electric 12 string, classical, and irish bouzouki which all have active pickups. What really impressed me was how it handles vocal and instrument together. No feedback and plenty of headroom. I'm glad I settled on this model to meet my needs rather than some of the others out there of the same capabilities. The looper is another fun feature that allows you to lay some percussive rhythm down to play along to, or a chord progression to build upon. Another plus is its small footprint and light weight for portability. I plan to be using it in small rooms where it fills the space without being over bearing. It is a perfect tool for solo performances, but would probably hold its own in a small group as well.super-perfundo

I am very pleased with this amplifier. It is very small, (like a large lunchbox) and light. 8 AA batteries can power this or you can use the included ac/dc inverter. After playing with the mic input and plugging my Taylor; its obvious that this is the easiest to use and best sounding acoustic amp I own. Subtle nuances in voice and guitar are replicated so clearly, I forget which part is already recorded on the looper and what is the live part I am playing! No kiddin, its that good! Speakin of the looper, that is probably the best practice feature of any piece of gear I own. Nothing fancy, and 40 seconds tops, but it is falling off a log ez and really does give you enough time to lay down a basic track. My guitar has never sounded so crisp and clean, ambience/chorus on both channels are very high quality! Don't let the size fool you, this isn't a toy, but I guarantee if you get one, you will wanna play for hours! Few pieces of gear have ever been such a pleasant surprise!wdc27909
