The other effects sound amazing too, but I love the tape delay. What is amazing about this pedal is that it gets your little nuances and fixes them by smoothing them over. Overall: I installed this item on my guitar and plugged it in. Immediately, there was a bunch of static. I traced it to the jack on the bottom of the unit where the line from the input jack plugged in. I can't move my guitar without the noise. The pickup is unusable, and zZounds refuses to allow me to return the unit. I am very disappointed in both the Acoustifex Go and zZounds.Jim

Look, if you REALLY have to have a Martin D-45 sound, guess what Of course this pedal will never do that. BUT, if you need something that sounds somewhat acoustic-like in a band mix and don't want to carry an extra (not to mention fragile) instrument, then this will work just fine. Not authentic, not great, not amazingly life-like, just FINE. With realistic expectations this pedal is as good as any for what it intends to do. I use this in an A/B/Y rig. Tha A side goes to my regular pedalboard and amps. The B side goes to this pedal and a volume pedal direct to FOH via a direct box. I get the "acoustic" sound fed back to me through my monitor (or ears if that applies occasionally). I can have straight electric, straight "acoustic", or use the Y option to blend the two to my liking. Works for me, YMMV. I play "for-hire" mostly and my clients love the versatility of my setup. Also, DO NOT run this pedal through a tube amp if you want the best results. It will definitely work best either run straight to FOH or through a clean solid-state amp. Overall: Here's it in a nutshell, if you have a song or two to play onstage it can work but won't be a great sound. Positive features are response time doesn't lag, and it does have a reverb feature. If you like the sound and feel of an acoustic you won't like this. To say you wouldn't bring an acoustic to a gig for fear of it being damaged is kind of lame, maybe keep the expensive acoustic home but take the cheap one, you will get a better sound. I plugged a strat into a clean amps and it sounded better.
Have read many reviews both positive and negative about this pedal. The negatives were not specific but didn't hear their guitar and amp give an acoustic sound with this pedal. The positives were sometimes vague but they liked it. Then some went on to say they liked it not through a tube amp but through an acoustic amp or a PA system. I HOOKED IT up through a very small practice amp set clean and used the emulation out into a mixer then into a low power full range PA type system. Sounded excellent with neck single coil. Didn't try it with the middle single coil nor the bridge humbucker. I am very happy to have this pedal.Kenmorek

This pedal arrived with me last Friday, I was really keen to use it having seen the demos online, the following 2 days turned our to be the most frustrating of my life. I suspect the demo people are given a fully programmed device to portray a seeming ease of use. In reality after 2 days of struggling with sluggish and in some cases non responsive buttons and really poor tutorial, even with the help of online programmes, I was not able to store a single usable setting. Now it may be that I was supplied with a faulty unit or the pedal requires far more time and patience than I can throw at it. In a performance environment, utmost simplicity is key and I feel this unit is not that simple, or as I said earlier. could be defective. In either case it isn't for me and the end result is a return for refund or exchange for a different brand. If some-one could mail me in this regard as soon as possible I would be very grateful. kind regards Chris

The looper, even with updated firmware, is way to short to use practically…I use my 75.00 dollar pedal with 3 hrs of loop time. The volume on mine does wonky things, starts out pretty good…then jumps loud…tried it in recording situation….good god no….sounds like a diesel truck… worth about 1/4 the cost….scott monthony

It has been really fun to try the different presets. The harmonies are very nice and clean. To my ear they sound great. I haven't played a gig with it yet….so we will see. There are some basic things that I wish i had known about the interface. Some fundamental orientation videos would be good. I had the most basic problem with not understanding that the buttons were so sensitive. It is almost comical! I would PRESS the button and nothing would happen! But i finally discovered just to TAP the button and everything worked fine. Seriously. Holding the button firmly down did nothing. Just tapping it though… .and it worked as it should. 🙂 Really weird to me! But overall, I think the guitar effects and voice are very good. i'll enjoy this thing I am sure.mhs9417

Sound: Initially this product was awesome. The price at 299 should make this pedal last. I know electronics go bad but when that happens the manufacturer should be accessible for repairs. So much for a year's warranty. Features: When working this is an awesome pedal. Acoustic resonance is fantastic . I've had the VE-8 for a few years and I recently realized how much of my time I've wasted. It take forever to get the harmonies dialed in where they don't get too glitchy, I wouldn't ever trust using this thing live. The presets are awkward to switch unless you want to used an external switch but then you're taking the use of the 2 external switch options so then when you switch keys you have to bend over, definitely not great for my bad back and it's too big to keep off the floor to make using the buttons easier, otherwise adjusting the on board guitar effects are a real pain. Most of all, this thing has a horrible hiss through any PA system or acoustic amp I have tried it with, fun to screw around with at home but would NEVER use live. On the plus side like all Boss pedals it's built like a tank.DRS
The VE-8 has been a game changer for me. It gives me the ability to add texture changes from a verse to a chorus, using the layers of the effects, the harmonies, and EQ changes. That makes my live solo performances much more interesting to perform and hear. The "under the hood" options on this thing are incredible, like the ability to globally EQ the guitar, the voice, and adjust things like input gain on the guitar, tremolo speed, delay times, etc. This thing is really well-thought out in what it offers the artist, and it's also easy and intuitive to operate at the surface level. The harmony section offers some very useful features, such as you can simply cue harmonies off the guitar chords, or designate the key, or a hybrid of the two. I have found that for some of my songs I like one method, but on others I prefer an alternate because of how the VE-8 creates harmonies for that specific song. The VE-8 provides lots of features, lots of flexibility, and seems extremely well thought through. I have also found the programming to be really efficient and easy to engage. Sometimes that's not true of stuff like this, and although I have years of audio engineering and studio experience, I hate being in the position of pushing buttons to get through menus, setting parameters, repeat, repeat, and all that. The VE-8 is so nicely knob-based that you really just need to check the manual to find the "entry key" commands, get into the parameters, change them easily, and voila, you're right back to playing. The VE-8 was a superb investment in my capacity to share my songs, music, and creativity with audiences. I highly recommend it.Christopher

The Mooer Acoustikar does pretty good. Take little tweaks to get it to do what it will do. Use it with my Gretsch hollow body electric g5122. I use the Acoustikar for rhythm and use the bridge pickup to help clarity and set the Acoustikar flat with the selector switch to normal or jumbo. Look, if you REALLY have to have a Martin D-45 sound, guess what Of course this pedal will never do that. BUT, if you need something that sounds somewhat acoustic-like in a band mix and don't want to carry an extra (not to mention fragile) instrument, then this will work just fine. Not authentic, not great, not amazingly life-like, just FINE. With realistic expectations this pedal is as good as any for what it intends to do. I use this in an A/B/Y rig. Tha A side goes to my regular pedalboard and amps. The B side goes to this pedal and a volume pedal direct to FOH via a direct box. I get the "acoustic" sound fed back to me through my monitor (or ears if that applies occasionally). I can have straight electric, straight "acoustic", or use the Y option to blend the two to my liking. Works for me, YMMV. I play "for-hire" mostly and my clients love the versatility of my setup. Also, DO NOT run this pedal through a tube amp if you want the best results. It will definitely work best either run straight to FOH or through a clean solid-state amp. Overall: Here's it in a nutshell, if you have a song or two to play onstage it can work but won't be a great sound. Positive features are response time doesn't lag, and it does have a reverb feature. If you like the sound and feel of an acoustic you won't like this. To say you wouldn't bring an acoustic to a gig for fear of it being damaged is kind of lame, maybe keep the expensive acoustic home but take the cheap one, you will get a better sound. I plugged a strat into a clean amps and it sounded better.
Have read many reviews both positive and negative about this pedal. The negatives were not specific but didn't hear their guitar and amp give an acoustic sound with this pedal. The positives were sometimes vague but they liked it. Then some went on to say they liked it not through a tube amp but through an acoustic amp or a PA system. I HOOKED IT up through a very small practice amp set clean and used the emulation out into a mixer then into a low power full range PA type system. Sounded excellent with neck single coil. Didn't try it with the middle single coil nor the bridge humbucker. I am very happy to have this pedal.Kenmorek

I have always appreciated TC Electronic for the great effect boxes that they make. Each one is built like a brick house, and this Hall of Fame 2 is no exception. Anything from gated reverbs to reverse are available in this easy to use package. I use mine primarily for my Moog Subsequent37 to enhance the sounds on it even further and I'm always pleased with the results. I also have the smaller Hall of Fame that I use with my Marshall top, but I think you can expand even deeper with this one. The other thing that I love about their products is the availability of the TonePrints, and there are many to chose from. There just seems to be no end of what type of sound you are looking for when you use the Hall of Fame 2 in your arsenal of effects. I am very pleased with this purchase and, as always, I'll be looking forward to more in the future. Sweetwater always treats me right when I order anything from them and I kind of like the candy too. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking to expand their horizons and, of course, if you have any questions about anything, contact your Sweetwater Sales rep, because they have the answers you need.
Needed a reverb pedal as my recent amp purchase, Marshall Origin 20H does not have onboard reverb. Decent sound from subtle to cavernous. AN expression function on the switch adds more versatility. As a professional recording engineer I've been familiar with TC Electronic for decades. I've used TC Electronic gear for a long time in the studio and have always found it to be the best of the best. However, as a hobbyist guitar player I was not as familiar with TC pedals as I was with pedals by other manufacturers (MXR, Dunlop, Boss, Ibanez, etc…). I've been looking for a good reverb pedal to run in my FX loop because the reverb built into the amp is pre FX Send and since I play with tons of gain I have a gate (TC Sentry – also amazing) in the FX loop and the gate was cutting off the reverb tails. I considered a variety of Reverb pedals but ultimately decided on the TC Hall of Fame 2 for several reasons. First, TC knows reverb, their System 6000 reverb is 13,000 without the remote, 15,000 with the remote. And they are using algorithms from the System 6000 in the Hall of Fame 2 – pretty cool. Additionally, with Tone Print capabilities you get unlimited preset options and the ability to design your own Tone Prints. This is an incredible powerful and amazing sounding pedal. First of all let me say I also have the G1ON and bought the G1X Four for the enhanced features and so I'd have one with the expression pedal. I sold all my tube amps when I was laid off, retired and moved to Mexico. My reference point is tweed and blackface era tube amps. I gotta say, once you learn how to dial in the tones you want, these little plastic boxes do a pretty decent job of amp and effects modeling. Like the G1ON, the G1X 4 does a good job of imitating the touch and volume control dynamics of a cranked tube amp at any volume. I really like the Deluxe Reverb, AC30 and DC30 simulations. The G1ON has more vintage style amp types to choose from, and in that regard it is more useful to e. Two kinds of spring reverb, one eats up a lot of memory but really sounds lush like an external unit along with the other types (room, plate, hall, church, etc.). Tremolo is built into the Fender models that have tremolo along with a couple of very configurable trems and rotating speaker effects. The G1 4 does NOT have the Z Organ effect the G1ON does, boo hoo. Beyond that, there are tons of effects to play with and they all sound good to my ears. I currently have 3 small amp setups. 1. Quilter 101 mini docked in their 10" BlockDock cab. 2. Quilter MicroBlock 45 pedal teamed with a 5E3 pine cab with a Emi Legend 12" and 3. an old Carvin SX50 1×12". I can get all three do to do the Deluxe Reverb,Vox AC15/30, E and F series Tweed tones that don't make me miss my tube amps. Wish I would have had the G1ON and the 17.7lb Quilter 1×10" combo back when I was in a blues band and gigging. Interface improvements from the G1ON… Improved display allows for more descriptive/longer patch names. Four pots act as master vol, bass, middle, treble during performance mode for global tone and volume tweeking. The four pots also make adjusting settings easier. For several years now, my pedalboard has had only ONE guitar "FX" pedal. First it was the G1Xon. Now it's the G1Xfour. I play both acoustic AND electric thru the pedal, and they BOTH sound great! Though I've played for over 40 years, I'm not a professional musician and rarely play out; but I do play a lot at home and IMO this is the best VALUE "name brand" guitar multi-FX pedal on the market. It's super affordable, very easy to use, sounds terrific, and is a total blast to play. In fact, this is the FIRST of TWO guitar pedals I recommend for every novice guitarist. I can't speak to it's use in a live setting , that's not what I bought this for but to have at home to record whether bedroom music or demos it's perfect. The effects are great they're easy to use, the older Zoom models were a bit laborious to set up and get sounding right but this has enough knobs to feel like you are just setting up any stand alone pedal. The distortions, the delays, reverbs etc are all good but it's the amp modelling and the EQ options that make it a great little tool to work with. No amp or no room for one in your apartment where your neighbours will pound the walls if you so much as sneeze too loud? No problem !!! this little guy's got you covered. A little tinkering and your demos sound better, a little more and you can get a reasonably good sound for home recordings. The looper is great, its easy to use. The tuner is good. What's not to love ? Plug this into your computer or your four-track or whatever recording devise you've got on with the earphones and you have a decent sounding pedal board and amp which takes up as much space as a box of chocolates. No one will be any the wiser. I'm sure I sound like an absolute shill for Zoom. I don't care I have a bunch of their gear and I love it all. Is it built to survive the apocalypse? No. Most of the stuff I own is plastic. Is it as warm and distinctive as Electro-harmonix or Boss ? No, but it's cheap and it's solid and it works. Is it going to sound perfect through your huge amp? I don't know but it's probably not the point. Me – I make music at home with cheap gear because I have no money or space. Zoom are a gift to home recorders everywhere. And thanks to everyone at DV247 as well. Very helpful during a difficult time to get products shipped efficiently.

Great little device. Different to a looper. Great for creating background washes of tonal color on-the-fly. If you got adept at it, you could use it to great effect in live performance. Personally, I use it to practice scales and arpeggios. Very effective and easy to use. I don't know how different or similar the electronics are, but it would be great to see this device combined with a looper. They're similar in concept. An extra stomp switch combination, and you could be looping, not just freezing. Not a criticism. Just a suggestion.jamesbwar
This is a great little pedal! Whether I need to sustain a note or chord while playing/riffing over the chord, and/or using it to hold a note in a live performance, this pedal can do it. It's a seamless sustain pedal that you can't hear when it's turned on or off. This far exceeded my expectations. It's a nice pedal it's like a sustain pedal for the piano but for the guitar. Really fun to use. Been using it on my gigs ever since I got it. Works great for ballads and intros. The only issue is the foot button makes a loud click. Seems that they would have put a silent one in over the loud clicking one. Also wondering why they couldn't have made it more like an actual pedal like a wah or volume pedal… I've never seen one for the guitar so I imagine it has something to do with capturing the sound. But electro-harmonix if you're reading there's an idea for you. I know a lot of guitarists that would love a pedal that you can work like a true sustain pedal.Marco

I've had the Liverpool character pedal for a long time. It sounds like a Vox. I've had both versions of the RK5 Fly Rig (still have and gig v2) and the dUg DP3X (gig this one, too). I hadn't heard about this until I got my latest issue of Guitar Player magazine in the mail and these guys are al over the outside back cover ad. I ordered it immediately through Sweetwater. It sounds great! I have the UAFX Ruby, a Quilter Superblock US (shoulda been the UK, I know) and a Mooer GE 300 Lite: all trying to solve the "silent stage" conundrum when I can't bring out my Top Hat or Dr Z or Fender TRRI. But this is the pedal I was waiting YEARS for: XLR and 1/4" outputs for FOH and monitor amp, respectively. Voxy Voxness that's Voxtastic for the convenient, silent stage live application. While the other products are fine in their own capacities (and, to be fair, the Ruby sounds slightly better though digitally noisy in live situations), I would've saved about a thousand bucks had I known this existed. But, um, no built-in tuner. That'll cost ya a star, particularly since the RK5 and the dUg have built-in tuners. (Really, Tech 21?) Totally a keeper!!
I bought this because I'm a huge fan of the RK5 Fly Rig, but I wanted something that was programmable and MIDI controllable, to integrate with my pedalboard. The PSA2 does all that perfectly but it's the sounds that have blown me away. It sounds incredible. Every Marshall tone is achievable and authentic, so are Fender and Mesa tones, and anything in between. And it really responds well to picking dynamics, and when you back off the volume on the guitar it cleans up perfectly. And…it just feels and sounds better than digital – my HX Stomp is now for effects only. I couldn't be happier, it's exactly what I needed. Thoroughly recommended!rossmacrae777

Having gone back and forth between digital / emulated effects and analog / practical effects, I decided to add a Small Clone to my pedalboard. If I had one complaint about the unit, it would be that it has a switch for two different depth settings instead of an adjustment pot. That said, when I plugged in I found that of the two settings available for depth there is one that suits me just fine. The pedal is very quiet, and does not color my tone in any way. True bypass is always an added benefit. Electro Harmonix builds these pedals to last, and I can’t see myself ever moving to another chorus pedal from this one. I’m in love. The Small Clone gives an awesome chorus effect to your sound! I always wanted that full warm grunge sound and so I figured why not put that icing on that cake and get the gear the legend himself used. As a solo acoustic finger style player, I was looking for a very subtle effect to enhance instrumental parts. I've owned other choruses in the past, and was skeptical at its rather large size and single control knob–and only a depth switch. I was pleasantly surprised. I run depth on high, the control knob on low, and get a nice fat–but subtle-melodic sound from my Martin. I haven't experimented with it much, since I'm so pleased with this setting. Good value, well made-though perhaps rather 20th century style–and USA made. Just what I wanted for a slightly different sound to bounce between my vocal parts and instrumental/lead parts. The foot switch is loud, but not enough to affect my performance. All in all, very pleased.2 birds

The Mosaic pedal is easy to use, and produces a realistic 12 string effect. It comes with it's own power supply, and I recommend using it as it seems to use quite a lot of energy to produce the effect. When I first connected it in my chain, powered by the wimpy Snark power supply, it didn't really work. The light came on when I pressed the on/off button, but the effect wasn't happening. Then I used the power supply that came with it. Suddenly, out came the shimmering sound of an electric 12 string. In short, it might not sound like a Rickenbacker, but its close enough, and much less expensive. If you want the sound of a 12 string, but don't want to spend the money, this may be the perfect substitute.jonaha650
Overall: Ive been using my Roland Gr-55 (w/ GK-3) to add 12 string shimmer to my sound for years. This little box is amazing! Tracking is impeccable, and the controls are so simple I was up and running within seconds! The metal box is sturdily built, and COMES with a muscular 9v, 1.3amp power supply(?!?!) Switching is silent, and the effect tracks tonal changes between pickups well enough that once dialed in, I dont need to touch the tone knob. If I get insanely picky, I kinda wish there was a separate out for the 12string sound, but that would negatively affect the affordable price and kind of defeat the 1 pedal= 2 instrument simplicity. If you never ever wished you had a 12 string, but it antway! You'll see what you've been missingDennis
I have both a 6 string and 12 string Rickenbacker. I don't normally like to take my 12 string gigging because I've got enough other gear to haul around and the 12 string is only used on a few songs. Plus all the associated issues with tuning, string replacement, swapping guitars, etc. The Mosaic does a pretty credible job of making my six string sound like a 12 string. It does not produce a perfect reproduction, but I find it good enough that I'm using it regularly. Considering the technology needed to generate the 12 string sound from a six string instrument, I'm actually very impressed that it does a good a job as it does. And the fact that it is polyphonic is icing on the cake. I've used electronic harmonizers to try and duplicate a 12 string sound, but they always failed in two areas. You could not play chords and the high B and E strings sounded just awful because the harmonizer would try and play notes an octave above on those strings as well (usually rendering this approach useless).. I found that the Mosaic gives a pretty credible 12 string reproduction on the E, A, D, and G strings. Fortunately the upper B and E strings do not get the octave treatment. They remain with the original pitch, but they don't quite have the full tonal resonance of a true 12 string. It isn't bad, just not quite perfect. All in all, I feel its a good product, does a good enough job and I'm happy with the 12 string emulation. I think its a credible option to consider if you need a 12 string sound, but can't justify the cost and issues of owning a true 12 string.bgb92549

The positives were sometimes vague but they liked it. Then some went on to say they liked it not through a tube amp but through an acoustic amp or a PA system. I HOOKED IT up through a very small practice amp set clean and used the emulation out into a mixer then into a low power full range PA type system. Sounded excellent with neck single coil. Didn't try it with the middle single coil nor the bridge humbucker. I am very happy to have this pedal.Kenmorek

Fender has done a nice job with this acoustic pedal. There are not too many acoustic pedals out there. This pedal has a good preamp without distorting the signal. It also has many reverb options. I love this thing! Pairs well with my Taylor 110. The preamp is responsive, the boost is a nice touch, and the chorus and reverb are lush. Tap tempo delay is great. I will use this weekly for worship guitar at church. My only bone to pick was the power adapter was bad right out of the box. I had another so it worked out, but still. I play mandolin and guitar in the church band and I have long since found that going direct through the P.A. system is the most efficient and quickest way to get a fidelity acoustic tone into the mix. The great thing about the Trace Elliot is that it is a quality direct box with XLR outputs with quality effects. I love the simplicity of the controls which allows me to individually dial in the effects such as reverb, delay, chorus, and, since I often take solos, a dedicated boost stomp for the extra punch I need for taking the lead with distinction. The simplicity of the controls allows me to make individual tweaks right on stage, unlike my Zoom A3, which has to go through several computer digitized manipulations, and actually requires pre-programmed patches. Comprado como complemento para utilizar tanto con amplificador como directo a ordenador.
Habe das Pedal zu Hause probiert, gibt das Signal unverfälscht weiter. Habe einen Auftritt damit gespielt, und der Tontechniker konnte das Gitarrensignal problemlos und in guter Qualität verstärken. Gut ist, dass zwei Ausgänge vorhanden sind. Also neben XLR für PA/Monitor kann man noch einen Verstärker betreiben, wenn nötig. EQ ist eher dezent, reicht aber völlig aus, um das Signal deutlich zu färben.

Sound: OK, so the pre-set programs are hit and miss for me. But that had to be expected, as I am not plugging a guitar into it, but rather a Korg RK100-S2 keytar. For obvious reasons, the cleaner patches, and patches designed around arpeggios sound decent, while the shredding metal patches sound like ass. I'm sure they would both sound good if I was hooked up with an actual 6 string. Features: The most useful feature as far as I'm concerned, are all of those knobs all over the front of the unit. They make it so easy to dial in the sound. Especially when compared to the all digital products like the GT-1. I had a GT-1B last year, and it was aggravating to modify sounds on the fly. The other most useful feature is the Tone Central app. OMG!!! Last month, I trashed Korg's design decision in their app for modifying the keytar's sounds. The window can't be resized, the lines of text are nearly microscopic, it isn't REMOTELY intuitive to figure out how to re-write the patches. Boss' Tone Central app is the EXACT OPPOSITE of all of that. Full screen, each effect section is on screen alone and has 3 different ways to modify the settings. Get things the way you want, name your patch, and click "write," then choose where you want it saved, and click "OK." It couldn't be simpler. Ease of Use: If the preset patches are hit and miss, the "manual mode" is why I bought this board. The keytar really needs some effects to come alive. This board is simply a placeholder until I can build a quality keytar/synth specific pedal board. Compression, delay, and/or phasers can add a lot of depth to my sound depending on what I'm currently using. Those dials make it super easy to get the sound right quickly. It does sort of suck that they are on the floor, but how could that have been avoided without bluetooth and a phone app? And, if that was the case, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place! Quality: I bought this "blemished." My guess, based on the condition of the box that the factory shipped to zZounds, is that this took a fall off of a shelf in the warehouse. One end of the box was mangled badly! Thanks to Boss' attention to detail in packaging, and legendary build quality, I got this product without a scuff, scratch, or dent for 20% off. I like that build quality. (Feel free to play football with some of those synth specific stomp boxes guys! *wink-wink*) Value: Before my fretting hand got too badly damaged to play bass anymore, I wanted the bass version of this product. I believe that it was discontinued, and I missed my chance. I got the GT-1B but didn't like working with it. When I saw that this was available, I didn't hesitate to put it into my cart. Only then, after the fact, did I realize that it was in "blemished" condition. I almost went back and put a new, full priced one in my cart simply because I didn't want the hassle of potentially returning a broken product. So, yes, I do believe this is worth the normal retail price. Manufacturer Support: In the 12 years I've been playing, I've owned several Boss products from tuners to metronomes to multi effects pedals and I have NEVER had to reach out for support. In my estimation, that's the BEST form of customer service! The Wow Factor: G.A.S.! I can't play guitar a lick. But I've bought guitars in the past simply to hang them on the wall. I can't say that I would ever buy THIS product if I didn't need it. But I'm sure that it will still find some place in my home studio, even after the actual pedal board is complete Overall: An easy recommendation for the guitarist on a budget. Depending on one's needs, stomp boxes and pedal boards can become quite pricey. Between this, the Tone Central app, and the hundreds of additional patches available there, if you can't get the sound you're looking for, the problem lies mostly with you.
I have been buying and selling multi effects for many years. I loved them all, even the silly ones such as the RP50, 505, ME30..too many. I guess my favorites were the Korg AX3000G(which I thought was ahead of its time) and the Digitech RP500(awesome reverbs, mods and filters),and even some Pods for their amp sims too. Yes yes.. they all had their short comings in different avenues.. Boss reliability is were a part of Ny early playing days since the 80s..and to this day, I use Boss single pedals almost exclusively as my main rig. I just love the simplicity of their individual pedals and this unit is the only one that comes close in terms of the logic of its settings. I love KNOBS, and the ME80 has plenty to go around with. SIMPLICITY is the key . No more scrolling up n down a screen on the floor which I can hardly see. Now is the ME80 the best sounding multi-effect out there? No sir! With all the current technologies which can produce units such as The Kemper, Fractals, Boss GT1000, and other high res IR capable units from Zoom and Line 6(including some very capable Chinese newcomers), the ME80 can be seen as kind of outdated to some, The ME80 is certainly not what the top guns use these days, especially when occupying an arena concert stages I'm sure(but I bet they still use one or two boss pedals in their rig lol)..Also, Let's not forget that the ME80 initial introduction day to the world was just about eight years ago.. shall we? But guess what, it's still alive and kicking! And that is exactly why you still see it here for sake in 2022 ar least until Boss comes out with some new monster that can handle the GT1000 chipsets and adding more KNOBS to its chassis. The ME80 is gorgeous, it sounds good, and it has a personality. It also has more to offer than its predecessors such as the ME50/70..I mean, the addition of a separate footswitch for reverb,EQ and a simple patch recall?? I would recommend this unit for any small club or a tight rehearsal space for a quick setup and a speedy wrap-up after a show, when it's finally time to go home, no patch cables required.I AM KEEPING THIS ONE FOR MYSELF! Till I get to warm up for Bruno Mars(not happening soon lol),My main Boss rig is staying home, and that goes to my crybaby and the Budda volume pedal with all them patch cables entourage.James
I don't want to program guitar effects. I don't want to read cheesy names for effects that I can't immediately recognize or understand. The young people like that stuff but I am old and old school. The ME-80 gives me my old stomp boxes but grouped on a modern platform. It is basically foot pedal controlled with a very nice expression pedal and 8 on-off pedals. The foot pedals work flawlessly. But the thing that makes this unit awesome is the knobs. You can turn a knob, set a value and get instant feedback on what you did and look at it anytime to see what it is set at. If you know stomp boxes then you know exactly how this thing works. It has by my estimation about $4K worth of stomp box effects and amp emulations. Whether you want an old Tube Screamer or a Big Muff Fuzz. This thing has it. And it has many new stomp box effects like the amazing Tera Echo, Harmonist, Freeze and a Looper. It has just about every effect you could want and you can play multiple effects at the same time. As far as I am concerned this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. And I am an original POD user. I still plug into the POD now and then. But the POD is history. The ME-80 is what I like today. I even commissioned a guy to build me an angled stand to boost up the knobs and pedal to make it easier for me to dial in changes. I had it painted orange to match my Orange Crush 35RT amp where I port the ME-80 output. Lastly, if you insist on being a programmer, they let you do that as well and offer a ton of presets online. You can hook up by USB to your computer and program away. Brilliant. The one down side… you have to buy an AC/DC adaptor for $30 or use up a lot of batteries. Well since I figure that I saved over $3,600 compared to the cost of all these effects bought stand-alone, I happily coughed up the $30.Brianne
