. Now let me set the scene… I am a guitar lover (I can even play a little too) and a quality professional so My expectations are somewhat higher than most looking at this product. An absolutely beautiful instrument, this is my second SA360 and although they are no longer. Made in Japan, be assured they have not lost any of the build quality or attention to detail. The guitar was really well set up, is great to play, feels good in the hand and sounds the bee’s knee’s. If you are looking to start out in guitar playing get yourself an Ibanez Gio to start as a first upgrade from that, then the SA series is where you want to be at.Timbo

The strings and sound of this bass are great, when it stays in tune. It turns out, the holes drilled for the tuning pegs are too big, so the pegs slip and cause the bass to fall out of tune with almost no use. We only found this out because we thought the pegs were bad, but upon taking them off to install new ones, we realized this fault. If you want a good bass for practice, this one will do fine. I would not recommend it for professionals, unless you want to spend the extra money to drill the holes out further to put in fittings for the pegs.Ryan

Being that there arent any very popular (or effective) battery operated bass amps out there, an Acoustic Bass is really the only option for someone who doesn't have access to a wall outlet, or doesn't want to carry a heavy amp with them. I was hoping to pick one up, but very few were in a price range that I, as a college student, could afford. That is when I found this little gem. The general rule I have found when buying a bass, at least as far as my experiences go, that anything under 300 that you buy will have to have something taken out of it; you can only make an instrument so cheap before it becomes more of a hassle than your time is worth. However, Ibanez has found a way to break this rule time and time again. Starting with the downsides: Do not get this bass expecting it to stand up against the drums and electric guitar unamplified. There isn't an acoustic bass on earth that can pull that off, and if there is, it is way to big to bother with. The pre-amp is OK, but only OK. The output jack is in an odd place. and the wiring would be a pain to deal with as you would have to reach down into the body to get to it. And now for the many, many upsides: It is a bit fat in size, but is very light weight. I usually play an 11 1/2 lb jazz bass, and this thing is such a literal weight off my back (at least a whole 4 lbs). It has an amazing, earthy tone that you just cant get out of a solid body bass. the body is very study, braced very heavily on the inside. As far as Acoustic basses go, this is one of the loudest I have played. The tuner is surprisingly accurate, and very useful. It is also very comfortable to play standing up, and won't strain your back. And the Icing on the cake is that it allow you to practice anywhere, any time, without the need for power. In short, It is very nice, and should be part of your arsenal today. Do not hesitate on this purchase ^_^Koren Rain

This bass exceeded expectations by a country mile. I've had acoustic basses before, and this one plays and projects far better than others I've had that cost a lot more. The Ibanez name tells me that the unit will remain stable and that the company will stand behind it. The factory set-up is fine. Ibanez supplies a higher bridge and hex wrench for neck adjustment, but neither were necessary. Other reviews point to action, "buzz" and low volume. In some cases, these reports may be accurate, but I suspect a lot of folks buy these instruments with unrealistic expectations. Simply stated, acoustic instruments slap, squeak and generally misbehave. This goes for Martins, Ibanez, Guilds…you name it. It is part of the charm of playing acoustic music. Bass strings move more across a long scale length, so you are going to get this in spades. Raising string height to stratospheric levels to overcome these natural traits seems to be something like training a wolf to herd sheep. To me, random tonal excursions are part of the package. Frankly its why I bought the thing and even at that, this bass is pretty well behaved. If you want perfect tones, perhaps a Fender Precision or even a MIDI synthesizer is a better choice for you. As for volume, well, lower tones need far more amplification to carry than their higher pitched cousins. 100 watts out of your Strat needs to be matched by some 400 watts from the accompanying bass. That's simple physics. This bass projects amazingly well, but if you are going to jam in a large group or hall, consider adding a small combo amp. That would go both for this bass or a $2000 custom instrument. Overall, I love the thing. I would buy it again, and I would recommend it without reservation.Ankeny Picker

I replaced with Gotoh GB707 which are much sturdier and 20:1 ratio which is much improved. Stock holes need a tiny sanding out to accommodate these tuners but only takes a couple minutes and then an easy drop-in replacement. Since I am playing primarily through an amp, I inserted one of those rubber feedback eliminator discs in the soundhole and changed strings to La Bella white tape wound to eliminated lots of finger noise when amplified. Now plays great, maintains tune and sounds wonderful. With a little tweaking this bass is a welcome addition to my gear.JL

Despite the neck being described as a slim c it is thicker than my Taylor, Yamaha and fender. It's a little difficult to wrap my hand around but I am a woman. A man probably won't have that problem. I bought it to be a beater, something lightweight I can take around with me that I don't care about getting damaged. I actually wish I got the Taylor GS now because the neck will probably be what I am used to but I already have two Taylor's and wanted a different guitar, I like having different brands. The pick guard looks surprisingly cheap in person. Idk maybe other people like that look. I like a tortoise shell pick guard but this guild one just looks kinda faded out or something and the tortoise colors aren't blended well. It doesn't come with a gig bag anymore I guess, some people got one, maybe that is in other countries outside the US idk. The sound is what you would expect from a small guitar. The action is ok, a tad bit high which I might get lowered in the future. Doesn't bother me actually. The guitar is VERY lightweight.Jayjay L

The extra time at home during the pandemic has found me exploring short scale guitars and working on my finger-picking. I've acquired a Martin 000 Jr, and an all-mahogany Martin Dreadnought Jr. When I came across Guild's Jumbo Jr., I said, well, of course. How could I not? I thought a maple guitar would be a good addition to the Junior arsenal, and I wasn't disappointed. These Jumbo Juniors are beautiful, well made little instruments, fit and finish are superb. Mine has a couple bear claw inclusions on a very nicely book-matched solid Sitka spruce top, figured maple sides, and a bookmatched arched back of gorgeous, flamey, figured maple. The back and sides are laminates, but are very well chosen for their figuring. I thought the factory 13s were a bit too stiff, and the action a smidge high, so I had some nut and saddle work done, put a set of Martin Flexible Core 12s on, and just love this thing now. I think the factory idea behind the heavier strings is two-fold; to tighten up string tension that's inherently light due to the scale length, and to give it more low end. I think they just made it difficult to play. I haven't noticed any difference in tone switching to 12s, and the flexible core Martin strings have lighter string tension, enhancing playability. Given it's size, and that maple as a tone wood is on the bright side, you're not going to get a booming low end from this guitar – you might be better served in that regard by one of the mahogany bodied versions, but that's not what I was looking for. This guitar does have a fairly full and well balanced sound, nicely articulate with sparkling upper end resonance and great sustain. It plays well with the Martin Juniors, and has plenty of projection to keep up with the full-size boys, too. Great guitar!Rex K.

Overall: Acoustic Basses are quiet when unplugged and this one is no exception. However, it is loud enough for practice in the living room and maybe with an acoustic guitarist playing softer. The tone unplugged is above average, very woody with some brightness.BUT this thing absolutely shines when plugged in. I was blown away at the crisp tones and ballsy lows I was hearing. I usually play a Fender 5-String American Standard Jazz so I’m used to lots of sizzle and growl. I am beyond happy to add this acoustic bass to my lineup. The Fishman Presys+ is amazing. You have so much control over your time and can almost get anything you want out of it. The notch and phase features are especially useful for maintaining clarity and tone at high volume and eliminating feedback and distortion. The fit and finish of this bass is exceptional at the price point. It’s like a piece of artwork and even more beautiful in person. Definitely gets bonus points for style.I’m giving this bass and bass alone 5 stars but I must also say this. If you get a case with it, pony up the cash for the hard shell. I got the gig bag and the quality is questionable. It arrived with a small tear and some frayed stitching. It will be adequate for protection for now but I may upgrade to the hard shell eventually. Also the stock tuning pegs aren’t the best but they work and have held tune fine so far, just feel cheap.Tyler

The tone that I get through this bass guitar is amazing. This thing is in excellent condition. It's practically brand new. I've only played it a dozen or so times thinking that I would like to learn to play bass, but this drummer is going to stick with what he does! There is only one blemish on this guitar that I can find , And it's hardly noticeable. Whoever purchases this guitar is in for a real treat.thomavierr0

Excellent buy. I own an expensive Fender (maybe 800) and an innovative Olympia acoustic bass, and this bass compares favorably with either one of these for much less money- plus adds the low B. Obviously the expensive Fender uses much nicer solid wood/abalone inlay and has fancy Hip-Shot tuners. I own several jumbo guitars and the aforementioned acoustic basses and this thing dwarfs any of them in body volume. I expected the low B to be weak and/or "boomy", but it is actually balanced well with the other strings and I attribute this to the massive body volume. You will end up using the low B quite a bit because the sound fits in very naturally. The top is spruce veneer plywood. Cheap but maybe a good choice for this monster since plywood tends to be stronger and more durable. It does look very attractive and I like the thin satin finish all over. I think a thin finish contributes to a good sound. The body wood I guess is mahogany or something that looks similar. Looks fine- assume it is also plywood in all likelihood for this price. I didn't have any problem with the fret dressing, truss rod, or overall setup. Works fine for me right out of the box. I have been playing classical guitar seriously for a long time so I do have a strong technique. Yes the pickup is weak in output (passive- at least it doesn't require a battery). However, if your amp has enough volume knob travel or you have a preamp like I do (Fishman), shouldn't be a problem to get enough volume to jam with other acoustic instruments. The strings look like electric strings and I suppose the sound quality will improve with phosphor bronze, but I won't bother changing them for a while if at all. I didn't buy this for serious gigging, but rather have around for jamming and fooling around. However, if a gig came up that called for an acoustic bass, I wouldn't hesitate to use this even in a professional setting. It is a good enough tool to get the job done. Outstanding value.t91wheeler

I read several reviews on this bass before I bought it. Most that I read were negative, and those were posted 5 years ago or more. I have to say it was the positive reviews that won me over, and I didn't read a lot of those. So, going forward I would like to leave a positive review of this Dean EABC 5 Cutaway Acoustic/Electric Bass. I use this guitar for jam sessions at home, as well as on the Praise and Worship team at church. I have been playing bass on the worship team for a little over 5 years, and started with a Fender Squire Bronco short scale four string. I wanted a five string, and started researching which one to buy. I settled on this Dean. I read reviews about how it was able to keep up acoustically, but the pickup for plugging into an amp left a lot to be desired. I can state from my own personal experience with this guitar that acoustically, it may be able to keep up, but I get volume out the wazoo when it is plugged in. I ordered this guitar in April of this year (2020), and I don't know if Dean Guitars have taken previous reviews into consideration and made improvements, I cannot speak for them. I can only relay what I have personally experienced. Acoustically, this guitar is great for jamming with other acoustic performers. It is loud enough to be heard, but not a nuisance. But when I plug this guitar into my Fender Rumble 100 Bass Amp, I get more volume than I need from the pickup. I barely have to have the amp turned up, and barely have to move the volume knob on the guitar, and there is volume enough to play a packed venue of 1,000 or more people. This thing is LOUD plugged in. That said, it is loud enough that the pickup WILL cause feedback through the amp IF you are not careful. This is easily remedied by either moving further away from the amp, or simply turning down the volume to a reasonable level.Ron

I was looking around for an acoustic bass so I could practice at home without the need of an amplifier. I have a Fender Electric (Passive) Bass and a Dean Electric (Active) bass and anytime I want to practice I have to go to my home studio. With this one I can practice anywhere in the house. Despite of that, none of the acoustic basses I tried at different stores match the sound or the body shape. This Goldin has the perfect size body and extreme quality sound whether you play it acoustically or plugged into an amplifier! No regrets and I think I'll have it for the rest of my life.Gigio

I took to this bass right away. Short scale is fun to play. I grab this bass when I have a few extra minutes and don't make my way to my studio. Otherwise I play J bass full scale. Only issue I found is the bridge nuts inside all came loose, one fell off. Easy fix once I got my hand inside, but not anything you'd expect on a new bass played for a week and a half. All said tho, I recommend!FergyBass

I was looking around for an acoustic bass for about 2 years. I was always thinking I would end up with a Guild, as I have a Starfire II bass as my main. This bass does not disappoint! Great feeling and great sounding! I would recommend to anyone looking for a practice piece or something for light acoustic jams! I play guitar in addition to a few other stringed instruments, including bass. My interest in this bass was generated by visiting a local Sam Ash store and playing one first. And since I like my gear 'fresh out of the box', or ordered one online. This acoustic bass may be the best bang-for-the-buck instrument I've experienced in a long time! Yes, it's made in China — but every aspect of this bass is flawless. I ran one of these up against an actual upright bass — and the Guild was louder! I'd tried Taylor's GS Mini Bass, but due to the short scale and lack of string tension, the ones I tried did nothing but rattle. I finally concluded that you need the longer scale length and higher string tension to get the right sound. (Note: I have not yet tried the Guild Junior Bass.)Dan the Man

I was so pleasantly surprised by this bass. It sounds awesome plugged in, it really sings. It won't hold it's own acoustically without being plugged in against acoustic guitars but it is great for practicing with unplugged. I removed the cheesy pick guard (it came right off) and installed a thumb rest to set it up like I want to play, I almost never use a pick. Very happy and would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable ABG and it looks so cool also.TCP

Even with a smallish body, it has good balance (not neck heavy). Really good sound. Once acclimated to the temperatures, stays in tune. Good close action with little fret buzz, only if you really snap it. Piezo pickup is very sensitive, so flat wound strings might be in order to reduce slide-squeak. Played through an acoustic guitar amp it has a deep true sound. Some slight splintering around the inside of the sound hole. Nice neck profile, well finished frets. Very thin finish, which helps the sound but makes the body seem somewhat fragile. Handle with care! Overall an excellent value.The Seeker

Absolutely belting and beautiful acoustic bass, lovely to play, great sound and lovely to look at. Acoustic basses are great if you’re time and space limited and just need something to pick up and play without the faff of plugging in and finding headphones etc (which i find a bit anti social for my partner and kids). I’ve tried a few acoustic basses and this is the best and it has a surprisingly good slap sound, which I hadn’t expected from an acoustic bass! All in all if you want something to play at home this is the best. I can’t comment on the electric sound (this has a preamp) as I haven’t used it yet and it’s not what I bought it for.D R. M.

This is a great bass! I've owned and played a handful of acoustic basses from different companies in my time and i like this one the best. Let me state first, I'm not a fender guy but…I've always loved the sound of an acoustic bass and I always wanted one, so i shopped around for a while and went through a few different models to arrive at this one. I've had it for a year now and i grow to love it more all the time! The pictures on GC dont do it justice…The high gloss black finish on the body and headstock is sleek and sexy and the bold block inlays coupled with the jazz bass neck and headstock give this beauty a different attitude compared to other acoustic basses and it plays smooth and sounds great! The biggest thing I noticed with this model compared to the other acoustic basses I've had is that this one really projects well and has great tone plugged or unplugged! I travel a lot and this bass has gone a lot of places with me and it's always sure to turn heads. I live in a place where i wouldn't want to crank my amps to play electric so this has become the main bass i use to practice with and i have a lot of fun with it. It looks and sounds great, it's built and finished well, it's fun and smooth to play, it holds its tuning and the electronics don't drain batteries…what more could you ask for? I would definitely recommend this bass, especially for the price point.Ray

Wasn't even planning on getting this bass but went to the store and the Sterlings and Squires couldn't even come close. Really surprising find and happy I got it! It really made the squire and sterling feel like toys. There are a few blemishes but the construction is spot on and has a really tight neck pocket. Only downside I'd say is that the finish is kinda cheesy up close (I don't think it's wood grain looks way more like a dip to me) and the head stock decal could use a redesign but besides that it's great!A Badger

Sound: As I've said, I am a beginner and am not in a position to make a pro level review of the sound. I replaced the stock string with nylon tape wounds and I think it sounds nice. I wouldn't call it punchy. It's warm toned, full throated. Not really loud(unplugged). I think it sounds just like it should. I have played VERY little plugged in. My only amp is a Fender (Frontman 15G) practice guitar amp. It sounded good clean and would obviously go louder than the little amp wanted… I didn't push it. Ease of Use: I'm learning it's difficult to get great sound from it. It's an acoustic bass. That rattle you hear from an electric bass played unplugged is right up front with an acoustic. It takes a special touch. YouTube would make it seem that many players embrace the fret noise as part of the "sound". My limited experience though, with this guitar, is that it can be played really cleanly. The fella at the shop I took it to played it a bit… It had that wonderful, clean, upright bass sound. It was a difficult moment. I heard it sounding awesome, like I had always pictured it, and I was told I should probably send it back. Quality: All aspects of the construction seem top notch, except for the two issues I wrote about above. But those issue worry me. They seem so obvious??? Value: I really can't say. If it didn't have the problems… Yeah, I think it's a great guitar. Manufacturer Support: I haven't talked to Luna yet. I marked the support level as 3 stars, not knowing how the support is going to be. May end up being better, or worse. I spoke with a respectable local shop who told me they would return it. I'm going to talk to the local Guitar Center. The Luna website says talk to your local licensed Luna dealer, and that would be Guitar Center. The Wow Factor: I think it's beautiful! To my eye the styling of the thing is excellent. I've got black tape wounds on it and the black strings make the styling pop just a little bit more. It's got an edgy style in a classic form, and it just draws the eye… my eye anyway. Overall: I so wanted, still want, to be happy with this guitar. I'm an absolute beginner on the bass and got the last one of these in stock. But there are issues that, after consulting a local guitar shop, make me assume I have to return it. The fingerboard twists where it meets the body. It's as if it didn't fit and they clamped it down anyway. Worse yet, there's a smudge of filler in the seam on the high side of it, where it appears they saw the problem, slapped it with putty, and sent it out the door anyway. I really want to keep the guitar. I like it, but the fingerboard simply isn't nearly flat.The other thing that struck me was the saddle. It's like an 1/8th inch thick saddle in a 3/16th inch slot. It's just sloppy loose, but holds in position well when the strings are under tension. Not a deal breaker, but still, a bit of a downer.The fretboard thing is an obvious manufacturing defect, and according to the Luna warranty should be warranted for life. So I'm in no hurry to send it back for a replacement while they seem to be out of stock everywhere. Guitar Center is the local Luna dealer and hopefully they can order in a replacement and we can exchange it in the store, with no downtime or worries about when a replacement will come.Skip

This Bass sounds amzing!! great tone. Loudest acustic bass i haver heard. The issue is the first one i recevied one of the chrome "speaker looking ports" only had a small amount of glue holding it in in one spot. when it came off it took some of the finish with it. had it for an hour and sent it back. Just recevied my replacement looked over the whole and all parts are solid and in place. Then I while playing it I noticed at the top of the neck where the top F frett is on the neck looks like the clear coat is cracked. Not sure if the neck is or not. So as soon as these are bvack in stock I will send this one back and try a third time. If the next one ios good then cool. If not Regal can keep there bass. MF has been good about replacing and shipping just a pain and HUGE hassle. Bottom line sounds Great! Chia built.Chili514p

I brought this for a signature book for our wedding, we wanted a playable momento, but didn't want to spend a lot of money. It's a great $88 guitar, we have guitars upwards of $500 so of course it would not be as good. Well built, tunes easily, buy needs frequent tuning. I think if we replace with high quality strings we would definitely take this guitar up a notch. Good for beginners and will definitely teach them tuning skills.Tasha S.

I purchase this bass being motivated by its price and rave reviews. Let me just say that when I received my bass today I was blown over at the fit and finish on this bass. It looks like a $500.00+ guitar! I've been playing it for hours and the deep bass is so sweet. The action is a tad high but I kind of like it that way. The great sound projection from this bass made me chuckle while I was playing because the bass made a silver cup I have on a wall mounted shelf rattle! Now that's impressive sound projection! I can't wait to plug in this bass to my friend's Ampeg that's a 1X15 ported bass amp. It should be wild! For the money this Best Choice acoustic had got to be the deal of a lifetime if you're in the market for an acoustic bass guitar.Jason

This is a great acoustic-electric bass. I originally purchased it to use as an alternative to plugging in my electric bass. I instantly fell in love with it. It stays in tune. The nut is of appropriate measurements and the frets are greatly positioned. I changed the factory installed strings with some acoustic bass strings and it sounded so nice! For the price, I didn't expect to get a good value, but I was surprised once I immediately opened the box. Good job Best Choice products!consumer
