Acoustic Amp With Electric Guitar For Sale (Jan 2023 Update)

This amp has a wide range of settings to dial in whatever sound you need for various types of guitars and pickups. I was a little disappointed in the volume limitation when plugging in my acoustics with passive pickups- they just didn't have any punch even with the dial turned up, but that was corrected somewhat with an XLR>RCA converter jack to boost the signal. Also the pre-amp in the effects box I have does the same thing. It produced great tone and presence on an electric 12 string, classical, and irish bouzouki which all have active pickups. What really impressed me was how it handles vocal and instrument together. No feedback and plenty of headroom. I'm glad I settled on this model to meet my needs rather than some of the others out there of the same capabilities. The looper is another fun feature that allows you to lay some percussive rhythm down to play along to, or a chord progression to build upon. Another plus is its small footprint and light weight for portability. I plan to be using it in small rooms where it fills the space without being over bearing. It is a perfect tool for solo performances, but would probably hold its own in a small group as well.super-perfundo

I am very pleased with this amplifier. It is very small, (like a large lunchbox) and light. 8 AA batteries can power this or you can use the included ac/dc inverter. After playing with the mic input and plugging my Taylor; its obvious that this is the easiest to use and best sounding acoustic amp I own. Subtle nuances in voice and guitar are replicated so clearly, I forget which part is already recorded on the looper and what is the live part I am playing! No kiddin, its that good! Speakin of the looper, that is probably the best practice feature of any piece of gear I own. Nothing fancy, and 40 seconds tops, but it is falling off a log ez and really does give you enough time to lay down a basic track. My guitar has never sounded so crisp and clean, ambience/chorus on both channels are very high quality! Don't let the size fool you, this isn't a toy, but I guarantee if you get one, you will wanna play for hours! Few pieces of gear have ever been such a pleasant surprise!wdc27909

I originally bought the A20, the chorus went function went bad. I was supposed to get a replacement A20, but I was told the store delivery truck broke down. The demo A20 was pretty beat up, so I went for the A15 since they had it in stock. Less wattage, smaller speaker, no reverb, and no output with adjustable level.. The A15 cost less, but I would have rather had a replacement A20. That said, it's not a bad amp. I will wait before I ever recommend to a friend, based on my experience with the A20.None

O.K. Boys and Girls, I'll get right to the point. If you look at the input jacks on this combo amp, you'll see that the only choice for input #2, is a 1/4" plug. That means that, unless you use a converter to go from XLR to 1/4", you can't use a normal (low impedance) mic on input #2. Input #2 is the one with the EQ section on it. So, if you want to EQ vocals with this unit, you're out of luck with the on board EQ, unless you buy an external XLR to 1/4" convertor cable or plug. Then look at the #1, XLR input. There is no EQ on that channel. You plug your mic into this input and hope for the best. Without EQ you can't tailor the sound from your mic, with this amplifier's EQ. You are stuck with whatever your mic produces, and the tonal characteristics of your voice. So, if you need to roll off some highs, or accentuate them, you can't do it on this unit with just the XLR input on this amp. You'd have to process your vocals externally to this amp, them bring them into the XLR input on this amp. It's either that, or you'd have to get an XLR to 1/4" convertor and use the input #2. Other than that, Acoustic does a great job with these all-in-one acoustic style amps. I've used one for years. They are very quick to setup, have reasonable power for small rooms, and have good tone. I'd recommend these, especially for the price. Just be aware that the limitations on this particular unit, at least partially lies in the fact that they did not put a dual use XLR/1/4" jack on channel two. The old Acoustic AG30 had dual use jacks on both channels. What were they thinking when they designed this unit: no EQ for vocals? What the heck….?TruthMan

These amps are amazing! The harmony pedal is so tight to the vocal, the clarity in the acoustics are great on voice and guitar. The reverbs are quite a large hall with only 1 setting, so personally don’t use the reverbs too heavy, chorus is great, delay is great. Simple looper on there, but don’t personally use, I connect an alternative looper as difficult to use live. But overall sound of acoustics and depth are really top notch! I bought two and gig with my partner with just these two as I couldn’t find anything as clean with such a cool harmony pedal. 2 d.I out inputs on thé back make it really good for recording live sessions too!Corrie E.

I had a Fishman Loudbox before this amp, and I was completely satisfied. I believed I had it all – and I STILL know that Fishman creates an awesome acoustic amp. Then one day, I saw a demo of this amp at a local music store while travelling and I decided to play with it for a few hours. Well, unbeknownst to me, I opened up a black hole money sucking vortex, and sure enough within two months I bought one of my own. The first thing that captured my attention with this amp is how little . . .and yet LOUD this amp really is. Quite frankly, I can't recall ever feeling so confused about the size versus the sound output on a device. Obviously, the smaller, the more portable, but often it comes with a significant sound downgrade. To me this is now the new gold standard on what a small portable amp can output. The next thing that caught my ear was just how much the amp brought to life the natural sound of an acoustic guitar. It has standard tone controls, but in addition it has three different resonance modes you can add – and they're not gimmicky. I have my favorite, but all three add a flavor to the sound that is warm and, well, wood grainy. Finally, I was unable to resist its siren song charms after hearing what it can do if you plug in a vocal mic. With the additional ability to add either a lower, upper, or unison vocal in conjunction with your own . . . geez this thing is perfect for a portable acoustic musician playing to small groups. Add in a dual footswitch and you gain even more control, including a looper. Serious, if what I describe is what you're looking for, look no further. I gotta tell you…this little amp has very much impressed me in ONE way; it is very clean. This is my first experience with the Acoustic brand, and I am pleased, and have become a fan. I got mine as a display model at Guitar Center to play solely with my acoustic/electric Fender T-Bucket 300CE—and it sounds absolutely phenomenal (but only through the clean channel). This is an electric guitar practice amp; but I didn't realize that when I bought it, because of the brand name (yah…35 years of playing and I'm still that stupid, LOL)—I thought it would be a good 20 watt "acoustic/electric" amp, and my misunderstanding turned out to be a blessing. Obviously the 'drive' channel is gonna sound horrible with an acoustic/electric…I hated it, and never tried it a second time. The clean channel is fantastic though. Just out of curiosity (since it IS an electric guitar amp), I plugged in one of my Fender Stratocaster's, and THAT blew me away on the clean channel, yet still disappointed me on the drive side…so it's my conclusion that the drive channel sucks on this amp regardless of guitar type. With either acoustic/electric or just electric guitar on the clean channel, there is no hum, no pop, no squeal, no noise what-so-ever whether the guitar is being played or sitting with full volume. It is dead quiet until you hit them strings, and then it sings like an Angel. If you want distortion (at any volume), there are better amps in this price range. If clean is your thing, and 20 watts is plenty for you (it can be mic'd if needed)….then I don't think you can do better than this amp. It's amazing. On a side note, I am so impressed with this Acoustic brand amp using an acoustic/electric, that I just ordered an Acoustic A1000 today as a Christmas gift to myself…and I plan to buy another one of these G20's to have TWO as powered monitors (because the A1000 is capable of running two output's). I use this amp as a practice amp. Ended up miking it up for recording. Sounds fat. Sits well in a dense mix. I've even used it for gigs. For when guests want to sit in. Just throw a mike on it. And have the f.o.h. take it from there. Simple to dial in usable tones.Kev

I use the Performer at my church that is a large room. I also D.I. out the back for the sound men to handle at the board. It has the right bass response, mids, and highs, to get a clean pro sound. I'm using a Taylor 210 and 814ce with ES2.Rockerduck

This is a remarkable little amplifier. The positive reviews are all justified. Very diminutive, even senior management, who tends to frown when black boxes arrive, approves. And it produces a variety of great tones in remarkable amounts bearing in mind its small size. Perhaps not for the O2, but great in our lounge and enough muscle for a small venue before it gets a bit chesty. Very happy.biga268

I use it for practice. Although it has a bass setting you can program via the phone kit, the speaker is not as good as a basic bass amp like a fender rumble. The default presets sound the best, and if you need a different sound, it's probably best to use pedals on the clean setting. The effects aren't as good as I hoped for. The chorus effect is nice; but delay, reverb, and spring could be loads better. It gets the job done and I wasn't needing the other effects to be there at all so a good purchase for me, but if you need all the features to be awesome, look elsewhere.Waukegan

Purchased this along with the Squire Bullet Tele. Worked beautifully. All effects. Everything. Then nothing. No power. Nada. Probably why it's discounted $40 when you buy the Tele. Avoid.Joe

Love my Fender 15, got it a Thrift store for much less than a new one, it was in great shape and sounds awesome, with rich deep sound. Alot louder than I figured on before I got home to try it out. Its very well Builth box and high-end knobs with a vintage Fender look. I highly recommend this little amp for convenient practice or when on the go to jam with friends. The separate Mic input and volume knobs are nice when you want to sing and play at the same time. I have a huge 4 speaker Yamaha Amp that is huge, but this little amp rivals it when both are set at lower volumes. Also, this one is easier to carry on the go, and mine sets in my living room next to my guitar for easy practicing while my huge one takes up too much space in there, so I only roll it out when needed.jimdandy-2007

Purchased as Xmas present for my teenage daughter who is a budding acoustic guitar player but also plays electric occasionally with clean tones only (no use or need for distortion or overdrive). Small size and ample volume for her needs make it great addition to her room. Lovely clean sound for her Yamaha electro-acoustic and my Fender Strat (which she has stolen!!). Built in chorus is nice addition but nowhere near as nice a sound as a dedicated pedal. Sufficient tone control and option for mic as well plus headphones out if desired. Fantastic amp for the price! The clean channel is great, and has time delay effects that is unexpected for an amp in this range. The overdrive is excellent too, and you can control different frequencies as well. It also has two inputs for guitars, and a microphone input! So you can jam with friends and sing along. I purchased the Loudbox Mini Charge to use in small settings as a solo fingerstyle acoustic guitarist. So far I've found very little I don't like about this amp. It has great volume and tone for its size … it really sounds wonderfully articulate despite the fact it simply can't match the headroom of larger, more powerful units. Then again, it's designed for small venues. The reverb and chorus settings are well-executed and pleasant sounding and the three band eq is responsive. Bluetooth is easy to pair and use making this a potential boon at deck and tailgate events. If I had to list negatives my first gripe would be that the channel two input is XLR only. It would have been nice to see a combination jack here for times when players want to use a second instrument input. However, a passive DI box will solve that issue. The other missing feature is an anti-feedback circuit. There is a phase switch but the lack of a true auto-notch on an amp in this price range seems strange. Finally, the on-board battery makes this unit heavier than it looks. It easily outweighs a Fender Acoustasonic 90 even though the Fender is physically twice its size. Those issues aside, the Loudbox Mini Charge is a great performing little amp with the bonus of being battery powered when needed. I'm definitely a fan.GS

So far I've just practiced with it at home and the sound is superb, especially the low end being very present and not muddy. Big bonus for me is I can easily carry it in one hand and guitar in the other so no need for multiple trips. Another reason I got it is for my outdoor gigs where access to electricity can be iffy. A great mini amp suited to acoustic guitars for private use applications in living rooms or bedrooms. The sound quality is very crisp and clear. There is a choice of microphone emulation to simulate mic-ing up your acoustic guitar. The signal from this mini amp can be fed into a PA or a mixing desk using the Phones output socket. This amp is not really suitable for rock electric guitar sounds like crunch and distortion. The Yamaha THR5 is more suitable for this purpose.Danny

I have looked at the Yamaha THR line of amps many times in various retail shops. Finally saw one on MF in open box condition. Thought, "What the heck." Looks and functions as new. I bought the THR5A to use with my acoustic-electrics. I wanted a small portable amp with good effects for small venues and home practice. For me, a solo singer song writer playing originals, this little amp is a true gem. I use it for effects support in stereo, the other line run through my 40 watt Fender Acoustasonic. For years I have used the durable Acoustasonic as my PA, monitor, and for my vocals, and my Boss RC3 Looper. The THR5A is used simply to tweak the sound of the guitar. The effects are very nice, lots of range to dial in. The modeled Mics offer enough variety to cover the 3 different AE guitars I use. (Carvin AC175, Carvin AE185, Huss and Dalton CM). I can even use my OCD pedal through the THR5A for playing blues leads over the Loops. I would recommend this amp to any player of AE guitars because the sound quality out of this small inexpensive amp is truly amazing. But remember young squires, the THR5A is a very low watt amp with tiny speakers, so do not expect it to support you in a setting of more than 15-20 attentive listeners!Surflad

I have nothing but great things to say about this amp! Perfect for the solo acoustic artist. I've been a solo acoustic gigging musician for years and this is the best amp I've played through. You get a nice rich sound from your guitar and I love the reverb effects on both the vox and guitar. The chorus is a nice touch, though I don't use it much. I've played Marshall amps almost exclusively so I knew they'd handle my guitar well, but I was really surprised with the vocal sound. A very warm tone with minimal knobs for a quick set up. It sounds great mic'd or you can run a line out to a PA for further EQ if you'd like. It's light enough and compact enough to throw in your car for a last minute gig. Great for small to medium rooms, mic it or line out for a larger one and get rocking. You won't be disappointed.CT

If you've been reading (and watching) the reviews, then you know this is likely going to be a great amp. However, even after researching it, there were 4 unknowns for me. These are now clarified, now that I own this amp. 1) Bass. Yes, it has more than enough bass. 2) Clean sound. Yes, when reverb and chorus are off, the clean (natural) sound is fantastic. As good as the chorus and reverb are, I think I'm going to be playing it "clean" a lot. 3) Weight. As you know, it's heavier than most amps in this category; don't worry about it. It's not bad. You can always put it on a small self-made dolly if need be. 4) Plug-In for the Footswitch pedal — what is it, and how does it work? The one that's made for this amp has two buttons: one for reverb, and one for chorus. Yes, you have to pay extra for this (and the amp is also a bit more expensive) — but worth it. Very happy with this amp. It is such a warm, fantastic sounding amp.B

Speaking from experience with various sound reinforcenent systems. There are many options here with the phantom mic power and even an rca input for devices (drums or other audio.) Other reviewers note the solid build and good looks. I have one in white. Marshall knows speakers and this closed back box provides wide range good definition, and good projection. Not box like. I have run electric guitar or bass straight in. I would think it fine for jazz guitar. Or use your choice of pre amp devices/emulators. Perfect for home or studio use. Good live in small venue, and works well for larger venue thru a board. The effects are precise and vocals come thru well. I use mine now for studio recordings with a 12 string Taylor and added a sub woofer (which the AC-60 allows) to give it a punch. Being able to plug in headphones is a huge ++ for practice. Highly recommend the Roland AC-60 for a beginner to pro. It will allow you to really hear yourself play and be 'in the pocket' to either play live, or more important for me, lay down clean tracks without using any digital effects from the computer, or rack.fboomer65

I've been through a couple acoustic amps lately including a Fishman Loudbox Mini, Crate CA-60D, and Acoustic AG-60. The Roland AC-60 is by far my favorite. It's not the loudest of the bunch and it doesn't have the effects of some, but what it does have is a clarity of sound -especially for vocals. All the amps I mentioned are great for acoustic guitars. I couldn't really tell you which is truly the best for that. But the Roland shines if you want to sing along with a guitar. With it's smaller size and the carrying case, it's much more portable than the others. Also of note is an output for a subwoofer if you choose to extend the sound range. The bass is slightly lacking since it only has 6 1/2" speakers. I would go for the AC-90 with the 8" speakers if I could afford it. But I'm more than happy with the AC-60.Groovy Jones

Very pleased. Crystal clear sound, good reverb and nice subtle chorus. Using the piezo input and the phantom powered mic input with a condenser mic together gives a very realistic acoustic tone though feedback still an issue.Graham

As an owner of both the Fender Acoustic 200 and the TC Helicon Voicelive Play Acoustic, I can tell you that this unit sounds better, avoids the unnecessary clutter of using a traditional acoustic amp with a footpedal, and is everything you could ask for in terms of an acoustic singer-songwriter set up. On the vocal side: the harmonies are spot on, sound super authentic and non-robotic, and the reverb and effects are superb. I have a Fishman SA220, and a Bose L1, with subwoofer and Tonematch. I can tell you this amplifier is a lot of fun. I've never really fooled with loopers and harmonies. This makes it simple, even for an old man. This is on par with the other systems I have. Only it seems crisper to my ears. Plenty of power, great tone, and effects I'll actually use. Not sure about longevity yet, only time will tell. So far I love it.Mark

Huge sounding and a lot of power for such a small amp. The Spark Control App gives you loads of choices from classic sounds to the most modern of amps out there today. You also have tons of effects to use in conjunction with all of these modeled amp choices. All of these possibilities can be saved as your own personal presets which can endlessly be tweaked to make you sound and play your best. You can also use the Jam Along feature which syncs to iTunes, Spotify, etc. while also displaying the chord changes as you play. The Spark amp also connects easily to any DAW for professional sounding quality recordings. This amp does it all for a fraction of the price.Javier

Used it only for practice. Unusable for live performance. Every update was a fiasco and after 11 months, it only works as a Bluetooth speaker as the Amp section gave up. Google that issue and found it happens to many other users. Defective chip and Positive Grid helpdesk is not responding.Cory

The amp is awesome. Well built and solid, very pleasant to look at, easy to use and the sound! Oh man, the sound of that little amp is just beyond belief. Full and rich, it fills the room as though it were five times the size. With the app on my android phone, fine tuning the sound is easy and intuitive, and you can save your sounds as presets if you wish. But even without using the app, the presets that ship with the amp are simply stellar. In my opinion, the amp is well worth the price.Richard L.

Went to the Birmimgham Branch. Served by Jay, excellent costomer service from him. Sorted us out on what we required when we had little knowldge of the equipment. Explained everything really well without bombarding us with technical jargon. It all has fittted the bill for what I needed. Would deffinately go back. I have only had the amp for a short time, so I'm still exploring the envelope. The foot pedal has a little bit of a learning curve, but I'm getting used to it. It's click-less and completely silent, which is great, but the lack of haptic feedback make it difficult to tell if you have pressed the switch or not. I'll either get used to it or buy an upgrade later. The reverb and chorus are very rich and natural, as well as noiseless. It seems to have plenty of power, but I haven't played out with it yet. One reviewer mentioned disappointment with the harmony, but I'm having the opposite experience. I play with a lot of minor chords, as well as open 9th's and 11th's and all that kind of moody junk. The harmony works great with it. The harmony also keeps up with hammer-ons and pull-offs just fine. I can see where it might have trouble with arpeggiation, but then the processor is only getting one note at a time to work with. The harmony only gives back what you put in. If you are off key or your guitar is slightly out of tune (as I found out with a new set of strings during break-in), of course the harmony goes off the rails. If you sing in a breathy voice, the harmony recedes into the background. It reminds me of an old expression from the early days of computers: GIGO. Ask an old-timer if you don't know that one. Basically, it's just giving back an imitation of your own input, and it is brutally honest! I've been making practice recordings and already have improved on some of my lazy vocal technique. I waited two years to buy this thing and my only regret is not buying it two years ago!Rob

Overall: I've been playing and singing for 40+ years just for fun. I grew up with a singing Father (country music) and he taught me how to play. I have always played for friends and have played at parties and even a wedding. Recently I decided to upgrade my equipment and started looking at multiple amps in this range. I have the Roland AC-60 and love it but I wanted something with more power so I didn't have to mic through a PA. I went to a local music store and tested the Fishman (180 watts) and loved it. Then I played through the Boss ACS Pro and fell in love with it's sound and it's options. Luckily one of the employees at the store gigs and has one so he took me through all of it's options and abilities. With the touch of a Boss FS-6 pedal you can literally become a one man band. It has all the great features and sound other acoustic amps in this category have except it adds a Harmonizer and a built in Looper. I was blown away. The Pro pushes out 120 watts which is more then enough power for me. It's not much bigger then my Roland AC-60. I tested it outside on our deck when we had a small party and it was perfect. All my friends were blown away at how great it sounded and more importantly how good it made me sound. Roland, Fishman, and many others make great sounding amps, but for my needs and the options it offers I absolutely had to have it. Thank you zZounds for making it possible.Jeff

To start I didn't keep this amp. This was my 1st acoustic amp and I was torn between this Fishman and the Genzler aa mini. When it arrived the packaging was perfect and so I set up and gave it a whirl. To my disappointment the amp was making a crackling and popping noise randomly as I played through it. Wasn't real sure why but knew for the price I definitely couldn't keep it. That said, the amp had great tone I thought and loads of features! So I could have just tried another but I took it as a sign and with AMS assistance swapped for the Genzler with no hassle at all! I've heard great things of these Fishman acoustics but…I love the Genzler AA Mini. Only downside is not as many effects but it's acoustic…I really am pleased with what it offers and the sound(mic and guitar) is fantastic imo!!! Thanks AMSBrent

I did a lot of online research and played a lot of acoustic amps in stores before I settled on this one. It's by far the best in its price range. You can get quite loud with excellent clarity that replicates the authentic tone of your guitar. Playing and singing through the amp sounds great with no distortion and it does a great job of giving what I'd call space to your voice and instrument. An all around great amp for practice, busking and other live performance venues.Geoff
