This thing just _shimmers_. You can dial the springs/plate/hall up on Vox and instruments to get that Joe Meek thing happening, or be really subtle and just have it add presence to your guitar. The UA Starlight is a fantastic delay. Sounds great through clean and overdriven sounds. Very tape like. I've had basically all the high-end delay pedals and I have to say this pedal is far better than 90% competition. We bought this to go with our new Yamaha Piaggero keyboard. We couldn't afford a fully fledged electric piano and don't have the space for one either. Purchased for use with the Casio CTK 2300. This is a MUST HAVE item for keyboards that do not have touch sensitive keys (like the CTK 2300). It appears to be very well made, and is the same height and size as the pedal on a real piano. I originally ordered the pedal to make the keyboard's piano voice sound and feel more like a real piano but upon installing it, I discovered a really neat effect when using it for the organ and strings voices – these voices automatically sustain themselves and only stop when the pedal is depressed. (The CTK 2300 has four 'functions' settings for sustain pedals – this effect is achieved using the default setting of 'SUS'. I am guessing most electric keyboards have a similiar set of options) It can take some getting used to, but this effect alone makes the pedal a must-have item. I could write a whole page on just the things you can do when playing the organ and strings voices. The pedal itself is heavy enough that it stays in place and the ONLY drawback to this pedal is that the plug is a straight-on plug. A 90 degree angle would be preferred since my keyboard is up against a wall in my rather small home studio, but that is a trivial issue given the overall quality of this item.Les Paul Disciple

With the polarity switch it works on all keyboards. The sustain pedal is nothing but an on/off switch. I have a FC3 which does not work on my Yamaha MO8 as a half/ whole on sustain. It does work as a volume pedal in the the second pedal input. If you're spending more than what you can get the m-audio for on a sustain pedal you're just wasting your money. The m-audio is all you're ever going to need. Actual price can't be given because those words (number and signs) are restricted. This will be the only review I give since Musician's Friends restrictions are stupid. Love their stupid deals though!nsdg

Overall: Whether you're trying to dial in a wet surf rock reverb or an ambient shoegaze tone with lots of atmosphere, this pedal can do it all. This is hands down the best pedal I've ever purchased and far surpasses any other reverb pedal I've heard. You can even tweaked it to make it sound like a proper spring reverb unit on an old fender amp. There's also a handy shimmer effect you can use to get some angelic and synth-like tones, which can sound monolithic accompanied with a fuzz. I'd recommend this pedal for any style of playing, as it's one of the most versatile ones on the market right now. Also since it's Boss it's built like an absolute tank. I use a few different brands of pedals and Boss makes solid pedals. This rv6 pedal makes a great variety of reverbs that sound very good with cleans, on every setting. I play with a few different distortions. It is very difficult to dial in a good reverb sound with too much distortion. The level setting has to be low and the sensitivity of the effects are boosted and that makes it very hard to easily swap from clean to dirty without major changes. Dirty will require serious tweaking. I would give it a 3 star because it's not friendly to dirty, but I'll give it 4 stars just because the cleans really do sound great and the variety and quality of sounds are in a price range well below many other reverbs of this caliber. It's a BOSS, a tank. I did mess with the shimmer with crunch and low level and found some decent sounds.Ghostpuncher

I got this as a catch-all reverb to round out a basic pedal board I use for home practice and hobby recording. First off, all the "usual suspect" reverb tones sound really great in the effects loop of my Bogner Atma combo. I had read reviews of the RV6 where it had been criticized for sounding digital/grainy, but I preferred it over the Oceans and HOF2 I compared it to. I classify myself as a somewhat fussy "toan snob" who still prefers tubes and analog, so I wonder if maybe that "digital/grainy" complaint was with it going straight in, out in front of the preamp. I'll have to get around to trying it like an outboard spring verb sometime. I really dig the shimmer verb, especially with a flanged, overdriven lead tone. I need to get an expression pedal now and play around with oscillating that! Last thing I want to compliment is the helpful buffer the Boss adds at the tail end of my board. I pretty much have no loss now. Kudos to Boss for yet another solid product!Lee B.

Sound: The sound on this board is amazing, I fee it’s also very responsive to your playing and you get that responsive feedback. Makes me feel like it’s easier and more joyful to play my guitar. I will say this you have to tweak settings to get your sound typically the pre made ones aren’t the best. Overall: Ok so first off I’m new to this thing, I never thought I get away from tube amps, but….this headrush caught my attention and I love it! I like the simplicity of it and it produces great models plus sounds really authentic for what it does. I will recommend pairing with headrush frfr108 or frfr 12 or a frfr (Full range flat response) speaker instead of an amp. That way you get the absolute most out of this. I got the headrush frfr108 and it’s sounds amazing! too. As far as the headrush’s competition I haven’t used them yet. But end of the day it’s all personal preference. First off, DO NOT judge the tones of this pedalboard by the preset rigs, they're pretty bad. Build new rigs from scratch and you will discover what this unit is capable of producing. It's not overloaded with every effect pedal out there, but there is more than enough to get any tone you want from Jazz, Country, Rock, Metal, and Blues. For overdriven and distorted tones, it may seem like you only have a few pedals to choose from, but once you combine them with all the various amps, cabs, mics, and impulse responses, you have hundreds of tones in your sound pallet. As for modulation and delay effects, it has all you need to produce any tone. Real Amps and FX Loop – In addition, you can use any of your favorite effects in the FX loop of the pedalboard. It also works great with tube amps and can work in a "four wire" setup with your modulation and delay effects going through the amplifiers FX loop. You can also run into the PA and to a stage tube amp simultaneously. Virtual Amps and IR's – The amps and impulse responses sound fantastic. I have several vintage tube amps and I am able to reproduce the same tones of mic'ing up those amps from this pedalboard directly to the PA or a recording desk. It has the easiest user interface of any of the pedalboards out there. If you can use a smartphone or tablet, this will be very easy to learn. One of the best features is the ability to assign the footswitches to any pedal or multiple pedals (scene function), or do either toggle or momentary mode. In addition, the mini screens for each footswitch change when you assign it to different pedals so it's easy to see what effects you are turning on and off in live performance. In addition, you can name a scene footswitch anything you want (e.g. Clean, Crunch, Solo, etc.). Makes live performance very easy, no more stomp pedal dancing. Set Lists – Organizing rigs into set lists to match your gigs and you can organize your rigs into groups based on type, song, genre, etc.Tod

Overall: First of all, I am pretty sold school when it comes to amps and effects. A simple tube amp pushed with a couple of tube screamers, the on board reverb from the amp itself, and some modulation like delay and chorus. I joined a band a few years back that was about to go into the studio to record an album the year before covid struck. As a result, I ended up buying a Pod HD500X as a way to try to consolidate the effects that I might need all in one unit. I used it mainly as a "pedal board" in front of the [tube] amp as if it were my old analog board full of individual pedals. Needless to say, the recording project got pushed back because of the pandemic, and I was stuck at home, with a lot of time to play around with the processor. It was "good" but it left me wanting an easier to use option. As you could imagine, what that kind of time on my hands, I did a lot of floating around the internet just looking at possible modelers. All of the names. Kemper, Helix, Axe FX, Fractal, and this HeadRush board. Out of everything that was out there, the HeadRush board seemed to be VASTLY easier to try to figure out. Pushing my late 40s now, I don't really 'enjoy' learning new technology the way I did in my teens and twenties, so I didn't want a steep learning curve just to be able to use this thing. I spent a day while it was being shipped looking over youtube tutorials as to how to use it. Only took me a few hours of messing around with it once it got here to dial in the tone that I had on the HD500X. If you can use your cell phone, you can figure this board out. The effects sound convincing and the amp models really seem as good as the competition's offerings (even if this board doesn't have quite as many jammed into it). We are about three weeks out from going in to start laying down the guide tracks for this LP [finally], and this will make things much easier to navigate when each little tone will be more heavily scrutinized. The ability to tweak it on the fly will save time (and thus MONEY) in that studio environment. No deep dives into large menus to try to make a minor adjustment. Gives me a lot more freedom to just try to play my parts instead of worrying about the setup itself. I think this board is a bit underrated as far as the amps and cabs as well. I still will be running it to my amplifier and mic-ing it up as I do still like the "feel" that tubes give when playing. But who knows, I may use some of the sims as well. Built like a tank. A bit heavier than I had expected. Should hold up well under live applications (though that was actually not a problem with the 500X either). I highly recommend this unit if you want to get something that doesn't take a degree from Berklee in sound engineering to get started making music.Kenneth

First of all let me say I also have the G1ON and bought the G1X Four for the enhanced features and so I'd have one with the expression pedal. I sold all my tube amps when I was laid off, retired and moved to Mexico. My reference point is tweed and blackface era tube amps. I gotta say, once you learn how to dial in the tones you want, these little plastic boxes do a pretty decent job of amp and effects modeling. Like the G1ON, the G1X 4 does a good job of imitating the touch and volume control dynamics of a cranked tube amp at any volume. I really like the Deluxe Reverb, AC30 and DC30 simulations. The G1ON has more vintage style amp types to choose from, and in that regard it is more useful to e. Two kinds of spring reverb, one eats up a lot of memory but really sounds lush like an external unit along with the other types (room, plate, hall, church, etc.). Tremolo is built into the Fender models that have tremolo along with a couple of very configurable trems and rotating speaker effects. The G1 4 does NOT have the Z Organ effect the G1ON does, boo hoo. Beyond that, there are tons of effects to play with and they all sound good to my ears. I currently have 3 small amp setups. 1. Quilter 101 mini docked in their 10" BlockDock cab. 2. Quilter MicroBlock 45 pedal teamed with a 5E3 pine cab with a Emi Legend 12" and 3. an old Carvin SX50 1×12". I can get all three do to do the Deluxe Reverb,Vox AC15/30, E and F series Tweed tones that don't make me miss my tube amps. Wish I would have had the G1ON and the 17.7lb Quilter 1×10" combo back when I was in a blues band and gigging. Interface improvements from the G1ON… Improved display allows for more descriptive/longer patch names. Four pots act as master vol, bass, middle, treble during performance mode for global tone and volume tweeking. The four pots also make adjusting settings easier. For several years now, my pedalboard has had only ONE guitar "FX" pedal. First it was the G1Xon. Now it's the G1Xfour. I play both acoustic AND electric thru the pedal, and they BOTH sound great! Though I've played for over 40 years, I'm not a professional musician and rarely play out; but I do play a lot at home and IMO this is the best VALUE "name brand" guitar multi-FX pedal on the market. I purchased this one pedal to be all the pedals I don't want to buy as single units. I have an extensive pedal collection but I have grown tired of hauling around a pedal board filled with effect units I only use every now and then. I decided that a good way to remedy that would be to add a pedal that could function as simple delay, reverb, boost, and modulation. I have greatly reduced the amount of pedals on my board thanks to this unit. The weakness of the VOX Stomplab IG is in the distortion/overdrive/amp selection. I didn't find any that I found pleasing to my ears but I didn't expect to. I did find a few low gain overdrives that were acceptable but nothing I loved. I intended to keep my overdrive and distortion pedals my board anyway, so I wasn't worried about it. The compressor is solid, but a bit noisy. The delays and reverbs are quite good and I consider those alone, worth the price tag. my pedal board is now just a few choice pedals and the VOX stomplab IG serving as single and multi effect pedal. I am trying really hard to like this. With regards to the preset effects, some 9fnthe sound pretty good. But some of them, it's like they are non existent or pretty horrible sounding. The other issue is you are supposed to bypass the effects. But of you do, your volume reduces so significantly that I either have to turn up the volume on the amp, or disconnect this thing all together and connect directly to amp. The last issue is that creating your own defects is pretty hard to understand. The instructions are not very helpful and it is pretty hard to understand the abbreviations used on the box to figure out what effect you are working with. Oh btw, you have to hold the power button down for a couple of second for it to turn on. If you don't it will seem it is not working. So, this thing is not horrible, but the verdict is out as to whether it is something that will end up collecting dust in a cornerJohn, G

The M-Audio EX-P expression pedal is a simple, no frills, budget expression pedal. It has a polarity switch to ensure compatibility in most cases. I can confirm that it works well with the Zoom G3 guitar multi-FX. The pedal is plastic. It seems fairly robust, but obviously the material of its construction means it will only take limited punishment and will probably have a limited lifespan. That said, I've used it at band rehearsals (and will try gigging with it) and it is holding up so far. For the price, one could probably afford to get one or two additional pedals as backups and still spend less than it would cost to get a sturdier metal expression pedal. It does the job, just don't leap onto it from the other side of the stage.panphobe

Been meaning to buy an expression pedal for my midi keyboard for some time, so did a search and the M-Audio expression pedal came up at a great price. I already have the M-Audio sustain pedal on my keyboard and have used M-Audio soundcards in the past so know the brand to be good quality and value, so bought this pedal. I wasn't disappointed, the pedal looks a bit plasticy but is actually more solid than it looks, I wouldn't gig with it but for use in a home studio it is just the job. It responds well in use and I immediately experienced what a difference it made to making my keyboard tracks more expressive. It feels nice to use and has a very smooth action. It was delivered ahead of schedule by Maplin who also had the best price after a search of various suppliers. In conclusion, very pleased with the purchase and would recommend this pedal for home use, great value for the price.jiflem

For a quarter the price of most reverb pedals this is incredible value. It has a comprehensive range of reverb types with full adjustment for each. Each sounds great and so far I have fpund nothing I disliked. The pedal is quiet, no unwanted hum or clicks and the bypass apears to be full bypass. Some may say that the plastic case is a put off but all the plastic cased pedals i have ever had have stood up well to normal use. I think that this would be the same.Colin H.

I've had the Vertigo for about a month and it is a fantastic pedal, very authentic, and lots of control. The Normal, Bias, and Harmonic settings allow for a huge number of variations. The Shape knob allows for subtle variations of all three, and the Level knob allows output matching. It does add a little bit of noise but nothing that bothers me. Without the Neuro app, it is a great sounding pedal, but when you dig into the Neuro app, it allows for so many different parameter adjustments, as well as lots of EQ tweeks. I'm using it with a Galaxy S4 and I have had no issues – just remember to set the volume to max as prompted. It is important to update the firmware before installing and using the Neuro app. I believe that with the firmware update, it will allow for more than the original one preset save. I've had a few questions and SA tech support was very prompt and very helpful. Great pedal, great company, very manageable price point.Flashback

Just bought and tried this tremolo at home. It produces quality tones, which satisfy, but there are other trem pedals out there that do a similar job and are not as expensive.The pedal is fairly basic and should offer up more features to make it more versatile for creating a wider range of tremolos sounds and variations. Probably over rated for what you end up getting and paying for.Greg

Overall: I agree with the last review, this pedal definitely stands on its own and keeps up with the other Big blue Box! It's algorithms are top notch, with a lot of them only found on this pedal. This pedal sounds great. I've never played a Dumble but I have always been looking for that thick, warm Santanesque sound and boy does this thing deliver. It us MUCH higher gain than I expected as well. The build quality is fantastic. Only thing to note is that mine came with white knobs which probably addresses some of the concerns other reviews had. This overdrive pedal provides good note articulation at any level of gain. It's small size works nicely on any pedal board. One drawback is the choice of extremely shiny control knobs. The reflective glare from their surfaces makes it impossible to see the tiny position marker. I had to place thin red tape strips to make the knobs usable.Indiana Bob

I really am enjoying Boss IR-200. I can't get over how much sound is packed into this small package. Highly recommend this for anyone looking for Amp and IR effects pedal that does a really nice job modeling amps and cabs that are great for a wide variety of genres.ZC

I bought this pedal primarily as an IR loader and have no interest in the amp modeling (which I just disable). So I have a valve amp head running into a captor reactive load which runs into the IR200. Then I'm using the stereo outs through delay and reverb pedals and a bit of compression/saturation before hitting the mixer. Having access to so many IRs and being able to load and store even more of my own via USB is total luxury. I can mix and match the stereo pairs and apply two types of EQ. I have been able to achieve a very realistic sounding cabinet simulations which I can quickly step through. There is some shallow menu diving but the layout is logical and intuitive and presets can be named. Additional features like the noise gate, fx loop, midi control, expression control and ambience fx (reverb) are welcome too. 5 stars from me!David J.

If you can locate an original 1960's era Uni-Vibe, like Jimmy Hendrix used, manufactured by the Shin-Ei company for less than 4k USD count yourself lucky. If you can afford the 4k count yourself blessed. When Jim Dunlop aquired the Uni-Vibe rights from Korg, who aquired it from Univox they sought to release this version of the Uni-Vox and branded it the UV-1. While not the original in design or image it does do a great job reproducing the sound. Unfortunately Dunlop discontinued the Uni-Vibe UV-1 in the late 1990's (1997 I think) along with the matching UV-1FC Foot Controller (which ironically can still be purchased new as of July 2012). Because of this these units are becoming increasingly hard to find and will only continue to increase in value as people snap them up. I suspect the UV-1FC was made in higher numbers and will become just as rare as the Uni-Vibe UV-1 itself. The UV-1 pedal itself is of a high quality metal construction and will last for years. The optional footswitch is equally built. The only downside to this pedal, in my opinion, is that the knobs are very easy to move. Due to the polished metal knobs one can't see where the knob setting is actually at from a typical seated or standing playing position (the use of the foot controller obviously negates this problem). Additionally the unit will require an 18V adapter such as the Dunlop ECB-004. BUT BEWARE and make sure you get an ECB-004 rated for 18V with 1000mA — Dunlop also made a ECB-004 rated for 18V at 150mA (it'll work but not nearly as well). Having the 1000mA 18V adapter will give the required headroom to get all the great tone out of the pedal. To confuse matters even more Dunlop makes an ECB-04 which is also 18V at 150mA. All ECB-004 manufactured after 2011 at rated at the higher 1000mA rating. I am unaware if the ECB-04 wall wart is still made or if they bunped up the mA on it like they have the ECB-004. Confused still? Ha … The UV-1 has a "vintage switch" which I find to be a "browner" sound when in the "on" position. This is very pleasant to my ear but the difference between "on" and "off" for the vintage switch is negligable and best left to personal taste. The manual says to use a 1/4" stereo cable to connect the UV-1 to the optional UV-1FC foot controller which will allow greater control of all the unit has to offer. A regular mono cable will work but one loses the ability to bypass the unit when the heel is fully disenagaged to the back position. Take a listen to Hendrix's Machine Gun, Robin Trower's Bridge of Sighs, Pink Floyd's Us and Them, SRV's Cold Shot, Kenney Wayne Shepherd's Blue on Black to hear what the Uni-Vibe sounds like. This is the amazing Boss DS-1 distortion pedal, loved by all who use it. Amazing value at just £55. I won't bore you with stories about how robust it is, because we all know Boss equipment lasts forever. It looks and feels great, but most importantly, sounds incredible. I play punk rock, and with my Gibson SG Special, plugged into my Marshall JCM 900 this delivers exactly the sound I want. I loved that in the manual it gives example sound setting, one of which was British Punk. That just made me smile. I knew instantly it was right up my street. Oh, and if you're into electronics, this thing is made of pin-through-hole components, so it leaves it open for a good bit of modding. There are plenty of guides for that online. Sitting in my Boss BCB-30 pedal board this never fails to make me smile.Thomas B.

Now I don't hate it, but Its not my first go to pedal. I like the more modern BOSS "Metal Core". It is however like all BOSS PEDALS built like a tank, extremely reliable and a great first pedal. For the money, this is a super value. I found that I like it for "Gain Stacking" in combination with the BOSS MD-2"Mega Distortion" and a few other pedals. Even two DS-1 DISTORTION together improve the performance to me. Overall it's not terrible and I see were for some it could really be a price but I lean towards Heavy… Heavy Metal and for that it's more a corvette when you need a Lamborghini. I have a 60w Fender Deville amp. Lovely clean sounds straight from the amp but couldn't really use the overdrive channel without the volume getting to an inconsiderate level at home. This pedal has addressed that issue really well. This pedal now provides me really raunchy distortion while providing a greater control for volume. The pedal also provides a nice boost in changing between a clean channel directly from the amp and then through the pedal. Very pleased with this investment, particularly for the price. For the sounds alone, this is a no-brainer 5-star pedal, but the controls aren't always so intuitive, and the fact there is no 'mix' control for the Chorus effect is a bit baffling.
