I agree with all comments. I took apart the tuner and I can see where the tension opened up the saddle (for a better word) where the tuning peg sits. I made a temporary fix by clamping down with a pair of vise grips on the upper and lower portion that holds the tuning peg until I by a better set . With that being said , I would advise to spend a few extra dollars to get ones that work, which is what I am doing after this post. Beware of the Pro Line Bass tuning machines !!!Steve-O
Bought a cheapo hofner violin bass on SDOTD and fell in love with it after changing strings and getting the hanging right when strapped on issues taken care of. (I own four basses including a MM stingray 5 but use this Hofner all the time now) Anyway I hated the guitar looking tuners that came stock, so I watched a couple of how to videos, bought these tuners, installed them my self, and am Extremely Happy with the Look. I had to drill out the original holes with 3/8 bit to install these and drill the front out again a 1/2" with 1/2 bit for the bushing to push in. I have previously used TC Electronics tuners with which I have had no complaints. I was looking for a cheap alternative to prevent me from having to carry my usual rack of pedals for my acoustic guitar when I was only going to play bass at a gig. The Behringer fits the bill admirably. I've not experienced some of the difficulties some hard-to-please people have posted on Youtube – crikey some people are petty – and would have no hesitancy in recommending the tuner to anybody else. Ich took this tuner as my old Korg Tuner started slowly to send me goodbye messages. After using it for several days the Korg is not used anymore. I don't see any dissadvanteges of this device – the differences to overpriced tuners of other companies are synthetic. I simply have not had any problems with Behringer devices at all. Price / Quality ratio at its best.
This tuner pedal works almost same like Boss TU-3 tuner pedal. I bought it based on YouTube reviews, found it really good. The review says it has got very bright power indicator LED which blinds to see the tuner LED's. But the pedal I received didn't have this problem, I think Behringer guys rectified this in the new production batches. This pedal is bit slow in responding (which I can live with) but gives accurate tuning. I took this pedal to quite a few gigs, it has never failed me (I bought it in Jan-15). Now this sits on my Bass guitarist's pedal-board, and he takes it to every gig we go, has never failed him too (he has got a 4-string Ibanez SR-300 bass). Overall nice tuner pedal for the bucks I paid. Pros- Accurate tuning Bright LED for better visibility Cons- Plastic casing (if you want to use it roughly..) I love this guitar tuner pedal. I like the big, bright display. It is very easy to see in different lighting conditions. It is metal construction and feels indestructible. The switch is the soft type that does not click, so you do not hear any popping or noise. You can use a battery or 9 volt adapter. There is also an additional adapter out to power other pedals, although the power cable is not included. There is also a calibration button on the back for different tunings. To open the bottom there is a big screw that you can easily use a coin to open it with. The tuner comes in a cloth like case inside the box. There are also rubber pads to put on the bottom of the pedal. The tuner seems accurate and fast. When you are flat the lines will be red. If the note is sharp the lines will be yellow. When you are in tune the line will be green. Overall, this is an excellent tuner!
For tuning onstage, this thing can't be beat. Display is very visible, although I haven't used in in bright outdoor lighting. I play bass and many tuners just get lost on the low E. I can only imagine about 5 string players. This one is very accurate down to the low E with no problem. The best thing I like about this is it acts as a mute switch, so you can switch instruments easily while onstage. Just turn the tuner on with the foot switch and pull out your guitar plug and switch to another guitar. No popping or any sound at all. Very versatile. Highly recommended.M Prater
Tuner is sturdy and well built. Heavy enough to stay put during performances. It works great, kills the signal while you tune and has a bright easily read display. However that bright display comes with a price. If it gets turned on by accident, your battery will be dead when you go to use it. Keep spare 9v batteries around or buy the optional 120v adapter. The battery is too hard to remove after each performance so an on/off switch would be a great feature. Otherwise, 5 stars.Boz
