I got the hotrod yellow. How often do you see a yellow guitar? I also have a $1600 bass and this sounds just as good! I use this guitar for metal, so I don't mind, but I can't play chords on it, for that I need some girth! I want to end on a high, so here are the things I really like! General playability – it plays really well! A joy. Fretwork – top notch. Tremolo system – Why do more guitars not have the knob at the back to adjust the spring tension? It is fantastic. As is the quick way to lock it off. I've not had a floating trem in years because of the hassle, this is much better. Flip out leg rest – just what you need for seated playing. I was kind of apprehensive about buying this because it was so inexpensive. However I thought with a solid ash body, maple neck, And rosewood finger board if it was decent how could you go wrong. All I can say is wow! There were absolutely no flaws that I could find! Set up was great right out of the box. The neck has a flatter radius than a fender strat, for me that makes playing it easier because of my large hands. Feels and plays at least as well as the mim strat I had a number of years ago. Frets were dressed nicely and there were no fret sprouts at all. Satin finish on the neck makes playing a dream.Marc

This guitar is amazing. It's built with good woods, and the workmanship is almost perfect (One minor flaw.) This guitar is a very good deal. I like the maple neck, because of the sturdiness of maple (How many Gibson and Epiphone headstocks have you seen snap off ?) Using maple, for the neck, along with a Fender style design around the headstock make this guitar look sturdy. The sound of the guitar is just lovely. I play jazz (no distortion or string bending.) The tone is clear, but with a thickness (fullness) with the stock pickups. The tuners are good. All in all, I call this a heck of a deal. The neck profile on this guitar is a little thicker than the Squiers.Ken

I have read good reviews about this guitar, but the real thing turned out to be above my expectations. I own Gibson and PRS guitars and was curious how this ~$150 version stands in comparison. And to my amazement it rocks no bad at all. Craftsmanship and performance are very good out of the box w/o adjustments and settings, just tune a bit, plug and play. Considering the price there are lot of options to upgrade, but I will keep it as is for now. Monoprice service was also remarkable. Guitar was delivered in 3 days, new in factory box and perfect condition. It comes with Indio tailored padded gig bag, very handy. Great guitar to start music journey for beginner, pretty good for intermediate player like myself. Highly recommend.Vladimir

My son bought this guitar for me for Father's Day and I absolutely love it. I had been in the market for a Gretsch and played a number of the Streamliners at my local GS, but this one really did it for me. The set-up from the store was superb, low action, no fret buzz, intonation spot on. The sound both plugged in and acoustically is awesome. I love to just sit on my couch and play it unplugged. I am still adjusting to keeping it in tune with the Bigsby, and I plan on smoothing out the fret ends a bit, but overall I couldn't be happier. I can't get over how fast the neck is! Guitar arrived in pristine condition beautiful colour that changes in certain light absolutely stunning. Binding and paint job is top notch on here can't find any blemishes anywhere. Frets are smooth level and rounded at the edges well done. Hardware, tuners and Bigsby all work as they should no tuning issues to complain about even after some Bigsby use. Set up with nice low action no buzz. Plays and sounds great also sounds sweet unplugged nearly as loud as a concert size acoustic. Only complaint is the tort pickguard isn't to my taste, a black or white one would have suited the beautiful candy apple red colour better but this is my opinion only. This is a great looking and great playing guitar, but that's about it for me. The pups and electronics have little to be desired. They'd be great for players that play Super low tunings and players that dig the whole Djent thing. I bought this for D Minor and Drop C Minor tunings and the sound was just muddy and not very articulate at all in the range. I swapped my 12-54 Strings for 13-60 and tuned it Down to A Standard and plugged it into my Blackstar Series One; then, it showed its potential. I would not recommend it for anything higher than a B tuning on these pickups. The set-Up was poor out of the box. Nasty fret buzz even when it was tuned to E Minor. The Floyd was diving once it was tuned and the intonation was off by roughly a half cent on all strings but the the high E. The fret ends are rough and the finish was sub-par. After adjusting the neck relief, rolling and crowning the frets, lowering and floating the trem, and restringing and tuning, it plays extremely well, but if a cat doesn't know how to do all that work themselves, having a pro set up to play this nicely would be a $500+ tech bill (at a good hourly rate). Therefore, in order to make it a nice instrument with a case, you'd be 2K into the cost, and I honestly wouldn't validate that for a mass produced South Korean guitar. the only reason I've kept it was because I saw potential and worked out the kinks. I also replaced the pups with a Seymour Duncan Sentient and a Seymour Duncan Pegasus with DiMarzio Pots. Now, it's a great instrument.Unexpecting the Expected

My first impression was holy cow this thing weighs like nothing. Overall the guitar is beautiful and the action is like butter. The tone of the Schecter pickups blows my EMGs away so I'm super pleased with that too. The paint job on this is incredible. The deep reds looks insane in the right lighting and it really grabs the eye. I'm not super impressed with how the paint job looks where it meets the edge of the face of the guitar. There's spots that like they did a bad job taping off the edge and there's like a white line which I assume is a bit of primer. The frets are much wider on this than my ESP which was a big change at first but actually plays a lot cleaner that way so I'm learning to love it. Overall I'm quite happy with it and I'd def buy it again. Considering picking up the six string model as well.Banks the shredder

The ESP EC-1000 is one of the best sub $1000.00 guitars on the market. I have two of these and they do not disappoint. Both of the EC's that I have are "B" Stock guitars, however it was very hard to find anything wrong at all. The color scheme on this one is outstanding! They are very picky with their guitars. Everything about these guitars scream high quality. Fit, finish, selection of wood, and electronics. best of all for me, these are not made in China. I guess you can't stop it totally, but I made a commitment to reduce items that I purchase made from China. I will never buy a guitar made in China again. Thanks ESP!ovagibanez

This is my first guitar. I've been playing the ESP since May 2022 I learned on a Squier Tele, and had an old Baltimore to practice on until I was ready to buy my own. Out of the box this guitar needed very little setup. This guitar definitely has an aggressive sound, and is easy to play. Great sustain. The only drawback is that I run through batteries. Beautiful finish, black hardware completes the look. I get compliments everywhere I take it.Julio

I love the guitar but was charged full price for a floor model. Also, the guitar in the photo had abalone inlays on each side of the fretboard. The one I received did not. The strap button on the bottom of the guitar was pushed in (looks like it was dropped)…Love the guitar but did not receive what I ordered. This was set up to perfection out the box.(this has never happened to me ever!!!!) Great fret work,no sharp ends, no sprout, no buzz, but super low action. Make no mistake, this is a shredder made to look like a tele. Coil split works great, and u can get that classic tele sound in the middle position, but the bridge pickup roars. Nice warm sound with clarity. The bevel and tummy cut make this a very comfortable instrument. The neck heal has great fret access. Im just blown away by this thing. So much bang for your buck. The only thing i wish they added was locking tuners. Not that it loses tune, but they make for a quicker restring. The locking tuners on my nick Johnston Schecter should be on this. Dont let the low price fool you, this is a great guitar, even gig/recording worthyJake

Fantastic. Beautiful green finish. Licensed Bigsby works great, holds a tune. Nice pickups, bridge is on the kow output side a bit… no real death metal chugs. I play stuff ranging from NOFX to Reverend Horton Heat and this guitar is a real player. The coil-tapping also makes this a mean ska machine. My only complaint, and this is petty, is that they didn't do something a little more eye-catching than dot inlays… split crowns, or blocks I think could've really popped. I have some significantly higher-priced guitars, and I find myself enjoying this just as much as, or sometimes more than those. If you're more into playing stuff on the metal side, consider something else. But if you're anywhere from honky-tonk to hardcore, you could really enjoy this.Niles

Very happy with this guitar. This is my second Schecter, so I was expecting good things. They did not disappoint. Fit and finish are excellent and it was setup and still in tune when I took it out of the box. I got the metallic red one, and as mentioned by others, the pictures don't do it justice. It really looks good with the black pick guard. I am also amazed at how well it stays in tune with the Bigsby. The controls are straightforward, and yet they offer so much variety in tone! The split coils for the pickups are great. You can get anything from a twangy Tele to the warmth of a Les Paul, and everything in between. It's great how many different sounds I've gotten out of it in just a few hours of playing around. Can't wait to take it to rehearsal this week. If you're looking for an all-purpose guitar, this is the one.Don Gee

Hello Ola, I am thrilled with my new Boden Original NX-8. Combined with my Fusion NX-6, I have excellent, hand & wrist friendly, very high quality guitars. I am using a Mono Y-Cable with the NX-8 so that guitar oriented pedals and amp are used for "guitar", while bass i sent to bass-supportive pedals and amp. Really takes better advantage of the 8 string features. My only regret is that I am challenged in trying to add my Roland GK-3 pickup to either Strandberg for use with my GR-55. The very ergonomic, minimalist bodies leave little room for attaching the synth hex pickup. But, still trying since I have been a Roland guitar synth player for many years. strandberg asked me to review this product, and I replied that I was not pleased and that they probably did not want my review. Then… they asked me again. First, the positives. This ax is exactly what it says it is. It's compact, ergonomic, light and full of innovations. The fanned frets are just like everyone says.. you don't even notice. The same for the asymmetrical neck. The 3 way switch and controls give you a broad pallet of sounds, just like everyone says. The problem is that it felt, to me, that I was not playing a musical instrument. It didn't respond like an instrument. It felt like a piece of electronic equipment. The tones, while varied, never struck me as particularly musical. I suppose if you are depending on pedals to shape your sound, that's not a limitation. In that case the guitar is just a device for generating a signal. But that's not how I play. It didn't work for me. Remember… I TOLD strandberg all this, and they still asked for the review. My guess is that their algorithm simply registered that I hadn't submitted a review, so they asked me again. But that's it in a nutshell, isn't it? All machine. No soul.John S.

I've been eyeballing the Masvidalien Cosmo pretty much since it was released – I was hesitant to pull the trigger for two silly reasons: 1) I was stuck in this misguided notion that I needed an extended range guitar to play modern metal and 2) I was afraid that the high variability of the burled maple tops could somehow result in me receiving an ugly guitar. Like I said, silly. I started considering the artists I love who do mostly play 6 stringed guitars and decided that was a bad reason to hold back (look at Joe Haley of Psycroptic, or of course the man himself – Paul Masvidal of Cynic!) so after over a year I finally ordered my Cosmo. I was not disappointed! It's light as feather. Fretwork is immaculate. The EMG 57 sounds great, and that VMC control does really allow you to shape the sound (admittedly I need more time to play around with this). The burled maple top is exactly what I was hoping for. I don't see any tool marks, any hiccups in the paint, etc – in short, the guitar arrived flawless. I own one other guitar – a black Boden Original 8. Again, it's silly but I was concerned that I would have a hard time dropping down two strings. Like my fingers wouldn't know where to go. This wasn't the case at all. The slight 6-string multiscale feels just right and the EndurNeck is surprisingly effective (I figured it would play less of a role than on my 8 string since the 6 string neck is so much thinner, but I don't think that's the case at all). It probably sounds like I'm heaping too much praise on this instrument – that I'm being blindly positive. Maybe that's true. But it far exceeded my expectations, I haven't found a thing wrong with it, and I haven't been able to put it down since it arrived. Paul Masvidal and Ola Strandberg cooked up something truly awesome, and I feel very fortunate to be able to own a Cosmo. Highly recommended.Grim

My first electric. Got it in a combo kit with amp and bag. Hook it into my computer now and rarely use the amp for anything. That being said, as many people have mentioned the bridge. If this isn't your first guitar, or you are looking for a second guitar – don't get this one. I learned about intonation and action and all that while having this guitar. You can only set the intonation on the outside E's and everything else is just what you get. My the height of my bridge for medium action on the low E is maybe a 1/16 from bottoming out, any lower it will buzz more. To get the same range of action on my high E my bridge is almost a 1/4" in the air. I do not know enough to get into shimming the neck to get it leveled out more, I just know enough to assume a 1/4" rise over 3" space probably isn't a good thing. However! I've learned plenty on it over these last 6 months. I bought this guitar because I did not want to invest a lot of money into it if I wasn't going to stick with it. I bought this in February of 22. The first 5 months I probably played on it maybe 50-60 hours. These last 4 months I've probably played on it 1-3 hours a day. I started using apps to learn and being able to plug it directly into my computer has been amazing. It's served it's purpose, I'm now getting to the level of playing where I'd like a better quality instrument and am looking in the $400-$500 range. For a first guitar, and you're not sure if you're going to stay with it, this was great for me and I will pass it on to someone else to get started with. Other than the bridge intonation and probably not flat fret board, I have had 0 mechanical issues with it.Jay

I'm reviewing the gold top model. I own a lot of guitars but I didn't have a gold top Les Paul and always wanted one. This is an amazing guitar for the price! Fit and finish are perfect. It sounds and plays great. I love it. Note, always put a new set of strings on a guitar that comes with strings on it. It's a simple fix for a lot of problems you thought you had, but don't. Who knows how long they've been on or what brand they are. Now, the details. Frets were perfectly level, no sharp ends. Slight amount of oxidization. I polished the crowns and ends with Micro-Mesh pads. I used 6000>8000>12,000 grit pads. I wasn't taking metal off, just polishing them to a jewelery finish. Really makes bends and vibrato silky and smooth. I do that to all my guitars. I like the Indian laurel fingerboard. It's a good alternative to rosewood. I cleaned it with alcohol, then applied a very light amount of fingerboard oil/conditioner. Let it sit a few minutes then wiped it dry. It has a beautiful look and feel now. As for setup, the only thing that was set correctly was the intonation. So I lowered the bridge to the (low) action I like, and it was pretty clean, a little buzz on the upper frets. The neck was trussed completely flat, so I loosened the truss rod about 1/4 turn and that gave it the right amount of relief. No more buzz. Next, I filed the nut slots slightly wider and deeper. Action was too high off the nut. I use XL strings (9-42) and the slots were even too tight for them! That was the only real glaring problem on this guitar. Tight nut slots cause tuning issues and your average customer isn't going to have the tools or skills to fix that. I have a set of precision nut slotting files and feeler gauges to cut them to the proper depth. Man, that was the magic touch. The action is amazing now, all the way up the neck. No problems with tuning stability. And that's all I needed to do. It plays like a dream. I thought I would need to swap out the pickups but I like these. I'm old and play mostly classic rock, and these sound just right for the Les Pauls of that era. I get that sound that Gary Richrath (REO Speedwagon), early Joe Walsh, Duane Allman, Dicky Betts, Joe Perry, Page, Billy G, had in the late 60's – 70's. I ran it through a Goat distortion simulator and got Tom Scholtz Boston sound perfectly. It was actually better than another LP I have with DiMarzio super distortion pups. Easier to control the overdrive. All in all, Epiphone has really raised their bar. If you have typical electric guitar setup skills, you'll make this a sweet playing guitar. If you don't, it's worth it to find someone who does. Just a few minor adjustments and you'll have a fine axe to play.Rich

I'm personally not a huge fan of Any guitar with a Floyd Rose bridge.I play in C# / B and always struggled with the floyd rose holding up ….UNTIL NOW. THIS GUITAR PACKS EVERYTHING !! TONE, SUSTAINE , TREMELO, INCREDIBLE ACTION, AND MUCH MUCH MORE. THERE IS NO REASON TO STAY IN THE FENCE WITH THIS GUITAR. I don't tend to write many reviews…but couldnt pass this one up. I’ve seen this guitar in photos and ads for some time and didn’t pay much attention. Another LP copy with a players name on it. Big deal I thought. Then I saw one in person and was taken aback at how jaw dropping it was. I’ve got 3 eclipses with the expensive letters on the headstock, I’ve got one off custom shop guitars again with the same three expensive letters on the headstock, but this black and red guitar was seriously sexy . I immediately brokered a deal and took this thing home. In the six months I’ve owned it it’s been my go to. For the money you can’t beat it, it’s a bad a** guitar.Kev

ESP wasn't lying when they said this are spec-correct reproductions of their 80s guitars. I played this side-by-side with my '86 ESP M-I Deluxe and it feels almost identical, just newer! The neck is the same bare wood as my ESP, but thinner and faster. Jury's still out on the FR-1000, but it should be significantly easier to troubleshoot/ upgrade than the Sinclair that's on the ESP. Electronics are great, I have roughly the same setup in the ESP (DiMarzio Tone Zone/ SD Hot Rail), but the coil-splitting is a nice touch, adds slightly hotter Strat sounds that clean up nicely. I am a product of the 80's and love the Rainbow Crackle finish, so I bought several of these in various models. This one, like the other two, is stellar. Can't say enough about the guitar that LTD (ESP) puts out in this price range. It simply kills any Kramer or Jackson you can get for comparable money.CW

The guitar itself is quite nicely built, but the app, which is supposed to help your kids learn the chords etc. is demoralizingly bad. It's hard to explain to a 5 year old why, after following the daily items (tune your guitar, practice some chords etc.) they don't get the points for completion. As a software engineer, I fail to see why it's okay to leave this basic functionality broken. Furthermore, the app appears to be abandonware. I see no updates or fixes. The 'Games' section has been 'coming soon' for months. The app should be removed from the site as a selling point, since it is basically broken. Just be aware when you buy this guitar, the app is not going to work.Ben

My 6 year old really loves the thing. She strums it and goes to it often without prompt. She can’t really get her fingers down onto the fretboard to play a chord, but she knows that those cards are instructions. She carries them around and tries playing them with the guitar on a flat surface. She also still doesn’t have a great sense of the guitar as an instrument, that’s to be taken care of, and not banged around like a toy. I think by the time she’s 8, this thing will be perfect for her. If you guys made something a little more towards the toddler end of the spectrum, I’d pick it up in a heartbeat. I understand and greatly appreciate that you’ve scaled down a real electric guitar. Phenomenal concept. Greatly happy with it. If there was something a little more durable, and a little easier for little fingers to hold the notes, I’d pick that up for sure. Great idea, great product, pretty nice app.James C.

Bought a Loog mini for my 9y old. He seems to like Guitar and I can play a bit , but whenever we tried on my Ovation he got very frustrated. Heard about the Loog 3 string and it made sense to me. Well my some loves it!! He’s learned the basic chords now because hit little hand can actually get around the fret board and he is so excited! As I’d dad, I’m I admit – this is a really well made guitar and I love messing with it !!John S.

I purchased this guitar when it was $95 off full price. So that kind of makes it a worthwhile purchase. Definitely not worth full price in my opinion. Poorly packed with insufficient padding in the box allowed two of the strings to be bent during shipping. I assume this happened during shipping. They wouldnt send bent strings right? Thankfully they provided back up strings… The nut is very poorly crafted. You can visibly see burrs and imperfections in the nut that cause the strings to ring out of tune on certain parts of the fret board even after tuning. The pick-up selector nob fell right off first time I adjusted it. I will have to glue it myself. When the notes do play out true the triple pick ups sound better than the Peavy beginner guitar I used to have– Which only had two pickups and came in a similar starter package but was about half the price as this guitar. I think if I research how to fix some of the issues I can make it playable. But this guitar is far from playable out of the box. Fairly poor quality control.Cody

I was looking forward to ordering this as my first guitar after taking some classes a couple years back. The shipping was remarkably fast–however, when the product arrived the amp was completely broken. Upon plugging the guitar into the amp and strumming, it would make a horrendous scratching, broken sound. Plucking strings has the exact same effect, and occasionally the amp will cut off after a second of playing. I've tried adjusting the dials, turning overdrive on and off, I even bought a new cord thinking that was the issue to no avail. To make matters worse I have called the customer support number multiple times asking if I could recieve a partial refund, or ship back the amp for a functioning replacement–every time I'm left on hold before the call disconnects, if I can even get through to begin with. The only reason this isn't a one star review is that the guitar itself works fine and looks beautiful! I wouldn't reccomend buying the full set if they don't bother to make sure one of the most essential parts is functioning before shipping however.James B.

I worked outside for my father for a good many weeks while the guitar was on sale, and when I got it, I had mixed emotions. After a few days, the gig bag started to rip and now theres a big hole in it. Its still usable, but it isnt really well made. Also the bag isnt really protective. Its more decorative. The strings on it and the other ones were both junk, my local guitar shop guy told me that himself, but strings are moderately priced, and most of the time they last a while, so thats not much of a deal. The amp is lower end, and the cable that plugs into the amp and the guitar started to show copper wire around 2 weeks after purchase. It still works, but it should have lasted longer. And the stand on the amp didnt hold up at all, the plastic on it broke and now it wont angle so the sound comes at your face. But other than that its a good purchase, i would just suggest to just buy the guitar alone, and buy the amp separately, instead of the kit, but that may get expensive, so check out those options and compare them to this product and decide for yourself. My local guitar shop guy told me that the guitar itself is great quality though, but there are more expensive guitars out there, its a great guitar to start out with. Another side note, not relating to the quality of the guitar, but for beginners, how to learn how to play it fast. I suggest buying Rocksmith 2014 with this for PC, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and other game consoles. Although it is expensive, the cable that comes with it counts as $20 dollars of it, and it actually surprisingly works! I started playing the game in late june or early july this year and I learned pretty quickly, to the point where I am now thinking about combining lessons and the game together to speed up the learning process even faster. Now it wont turn you into Guns N Roses overnight, but its pretty effective.TheVanillaMiner
