Squire Left Handed Guitar For Sale (2024 Update)

I bought my black metallic Squier Bullet eight years ago when GC was having a Columbus Day sale. I was looking for a guitar to which I could permanently mount my Roland GR-33 guitar synth's GK2a pickup. Previously I had the pickup mounted on my '96 Strat, and I didn't like this fit because I couldn't close my Strat's case with the pickup installed. I have a gig bag for this Squier, and it fits fine in the bag with pickup installed. Anyway, about the guitar. Right out of the box, it played great, requiring only a minimal amount of action adjustment. I was surprised at how good the pickups sounded, it being a Bullet and all. But the humbucker sounds especially nice when playing the guitar through my Marshall. The neck pickup has a decent sound, but not quite up to the snuff of a good alnico pickup. Still, for what the guitar cost, I really can't complain. If I want to, at some later date, I can always change out the neck pickup to a better alnico model. One thing I especially like about this black Bullet is its looks. The photos here at GC don't show it off all that well, but the guitar body's finish is metallic and the pickguard is a heavy metal flake. It looks spectacular under the lights. And the black hardware does a great job of completing that black look. The Bullet's body is thinner than a typical Strat or Squier Affinity or Classic Vibe body. The result is a light weight guitar, but there is no sacrifice in tone.Michael

Purchased the Squier Affinity Telecaster from local GC store. They had this and a bullet in stock. I chose the Affinity due to the overall feel and fret ends we're more smooth. For a sub 250ish price guitar you cannot expect it to play like a 1000+ price guitar and I totally get that. Now I did expect it to at least stay in tune. One thing to add however is I am uncertain how long this particular guitar had been in stock. Now after a few hours of playing I noticed I could not get this guitar to intonate. No matter what I did the low e and a string always sounded sharp. I ended up replacing the stock tuners with locking tuners, cleaned the fretboard, gently filed and lubricated the nut, and replaced the strings with Ernie ball 9's. Now she is in tune, intonation was a breeze and she stays in tune. Sounds like a whole new guitar.Steven

There are not a lot of left handed kids guitars. I didn’t want to get a complete piece of junk for my daughter to learn on and this was just the ticket to get started. Surprisingly good fit and finish for price point! Anyone looking for a kids guitar, remember that if you are trying to teach them on junk it won’t be fun for anyone. Highly recommend!Steven B.

Excellent guitar for the money……I originally purchased the Burgundy Mist 60s Stratocaster and liked it so much I also got the Classic Vibe 50s version. Since then I have picked up a second Classic Vibe 60s Stratocaster. I always heard nice things about these Squier guitars, but never really gave them a chance. I usually play my American Standard or Deluxe Stratocasters, and kind of looked down on these as cheaper copies. I recently purchased a Limited Edition American Vintage '65 Stratocaster in Burgundy Mist, but the Squier Classic Vibe 60s Stratocaster is more fun to play! I do prefer the sound of the 60s Classic Vibe over the 50s one……Not that the 50s is a bad choice, but it has the Alnico III Pickups, which are not as punchy as the Alnico V Pickups in the 60s version. These Squier Classic Vibes have an excellent fit and finish, unlike some other brands that offer cheaper alternatives. They are lightweight and balanced with a very solid feel. No cheap copy/imitation here! They have quickly become a favorite go to guitar for all genres of music.Laredo

Wow…people weren't kidding. This thing is a beast right out of the box. Fit and finish is what you'd expect on a Mexican Fender. I bought this for my 9 year old daughter….well, that's what I told my wife anyway. After playing it I might keep it for myself. I watched countless YouTube videos where folks go on and on about how great they were. After going on clearance I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a burgundy mist with matching headstock. They're quality guitars much nicer than my Squier II that I started with as a teenager in the mid-nineties. I will say I'm not crazy about the pickups, they're not terrible by any means but an experienced ear can tell they're lower quality. A set of Texas specials or even Tex-Mex pickups would turn the guitar into a absolute screamer. If I was gonna go that far I'd probably replace the dime sized volume and tone pots for good measure as well. That being said as far as a first guitar goes this is a beautiful place to start. It'd be a guitar that would be a joy to play for any level player. If you're an intermediate to experienced player this is a solid platform to modify and experiment with. They can be bought cheap enough that you can feel comfortable upgrading some of the budget appointments. Vintage frets feel nice, no sharp edges. They do cut corners here and there. The rosewood fretboard is laughably thin BUT had I not owned Mexican and American strats previously I probably would have never noticed. It's also pretty light bordering on too light but that can be an advantage for younger/smaller players. Overall though I'm thrilled with my purchase. **If you're a parent shopping for a budding guitarist pay the extra money. Nothing discourages a beginner guitarist like a guitar that is poorly set up and uncomfortable to play and I put a lot of the base model squiers into that category. If you're considering a Squier Starcaster with an amp in a box you're practically buying a throw away instrument.**JohnnyA

I own a Gibson Les Paul Custom and a Fender MIM maple neck Strat. This is the perfect marriage of these two instruments. The humbucker gives extra drive you would expect from a les Paul type guitar while retaining the spankyness of a strat. It can't do all the mim does though in terms of that 2nd position quack and the 1st position single coil goodness. I would describe the classic vibes as more mellow than the mim and more suitable for Rock than mim. The alnico pickups sing and are alive. The mim ceramic pickups seem darker. mim has that Skynyrd vibe while the CV has more of a Molly Hatchet/BlackCrowes/Zeppelin/Aerosmith quality to it. If you're on the fence between a les Paul or a strat then get this. If you want straight up spank get the sss strat. If you're looking for a edgier strat then get this. I am not disappointed. It is different than a les Paul but on the humbucker it's close. The main feel difference between this and my mim strat is the CV had a smaller neck. The mim has a chunkier feel to it.JB

Maybe not in every case, but this particular guitar was immaculate out of the box, except for a single rough fret edge on the highest fret. Played and sounded great and I don't think this guitar needs anything for a beginner, nor will it give a beginner many problems. I'm a bassist and compared to other guitars I've held, the neck is a little on the chunky side… medium chunky. I directly compared the Squier Classic Vibes with Fender Player series model guitars and the difference in quality is almost imperceptible. I did buy this as a mod platform (image attached!). If you're doing the same, save yourself a few hunny and go with the CV. 🙂Seth

My bass looks to be excellent quality for the price point. The neck and frets are perfectly smooth with no sharp edges. Straight out the box all it needed was a quick tune. I love the sound. I'm only a beginner so I can only compare this bass to my Ibanez which is also great. After umming and arring about Squier guitars I figured for the price I couldn't go too wrong. I've owned many epiphones in the past and figured the Fender subsidiary should be of similar standard. I was not let down! For the price I paid, the instrument is absolutely magnificent. It looks, feels and plays like a telecaster should and is well setup out of the box. The only downside? Try putting it down after you get playing. Impossible!Anthony L.

It's a great beginner guitar but it cannot play drop D tuning. When I finished tuning and went back to play the first string that I had tuned it had already gotten noticeably far out of tune. Great for the price I guess but if your serious about playing maybe invest in a guitar of better quality.Ben

A lot of the reviews posted here are for Strats, so I'm not sure what's going on. Anyway, I bought the red sparkle Squier Bullet Tele. The finish is gorgeous and that's what prompted me to do a spontaneous purchase. I have only experienced owning USA Teles, but I've played some Squiers that really impressed me. This one? Not so much. I don't detect any finish on the back of the neck although I'm sure it has a sealer of some sort. The body finish is nice, but the bridge hardware is cheaply made and I'll be replacing that for sure. Same goes for the tuners. I'm pretty sure it has some high frets because it goes dead starting at the 10th fret, but some of that was back bow. I loosened the truss and got rid if it, but now when I sight down the neck the forward bow is pretty obvious. I don't notice the frets being sharp on the ends. It now plays plays pretty good after sitting long enough for the truss Rod to settle, but I may need to tighten it just a little to get rid of some of the forward bow. The neck has a very comfortable profile. The body is thinner than my American Teles, but it doesn't bother me – in fact it's lighter which I enjoy. The body is Poplar and that's fine by me. I may leave the back of the neck alone for now because it actually feels pretty good, aesthetics are certainly lacking, but the body makes up for that. I'm sure with a little patience and help from my friends I'll have a nice instrument. All the basics are there. As is, it's not all that great, but still better than my first electric guitar! -!an old Kalamazoo single pickup thing with a bolt on neck back in the mid sixties. Like the title says, this thing has potential. I probably couldn't buy a finished body for what I paid.Ronnie

I would first like to begin with- I normally would be giving a 5 star rating of this unit/Squier, as I have typically never had problems prior to the recent/earlier this year upset regarding shipping containers/etc being paused/sitting in the ocean/etc, delaying container delivery. PLEASE READ ON FOR FULL EXPLANATION. Two imperative points- 1. The fret ends were so sharp, when I say it was not playable (both sides/neck in its entirety), I mean, it was not playable (THE DATE OF INSPECTION WAS EARLIER THIS YEAR, AND I IMMEDIATELY ASSOCIATED THE FRET ENDS PROBLEM BEING DUE TO THE SHIPS BEING DELAYED/SITTING IN THE OCEAN/ETC- It looked to me like maybe between March and July of this year, although, I couldn't quite make out the stamped month). As well, the serial # of the guitar, of course, was of this year/'22. I maintain/work on most all my guitars, and I normally would've tightened up the fret ends myself, however, there was a hairline crack on the red sparkle finish at the bass side neck joint (which i just couldn't accept, visually), as well as a small tooling gash along the top edge of the headstock. The replacement/reordered guitar arrives tomorrow. 2. THE NEWER UNITS (AS, ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS A 2022-BUILT UNIT) ARE TOP-MOUNT/STRING THROUGH THE BACK OF THE BRIDGE, NOT "STRING-THRU" as the description indicates (and, with Squier bridge mounting, these are 5-screw mount plates, which, if ever you want to upgrade your hardware, particularly, w/the bridge, you must find an aftermarket unit that is "string through the back", along w/the correct string spacing (with Squier, they're 54mm, typically), and you'll typically need to redrill given it's rare to find plates that have Squier mounting dimensions that provided string through the back holes. I'm upgrading to a Babicz, given the results found. Also, there are two string trees (the second being a tree for both the D and G strings), and it looks great, actually, with both. Overall, I was impressed with the finish, as it was nearly flawless (aside from the hairline finish crack mentioned previously). The fretwire/fretwork, felt great….I found maybe two or so "slight" dead spots, which weren't enough of a "ping", or string buzz to be of concern, or critiquing the fretwork negatively. Rather, I was impressed with the fretwork. As well, it's important to note that the mounting of the bridge, along with the neck positioning/etc, was spot-on. No misalignment of the bridge mount/etc (and the same goes for the nut spacing). I've always been impressed with what Fender/Squier/Jackson are putting out. The quality is typically quite high…as for this unit, the quality is high, but the results of the environmental dilemma with either being stuck in a container offshore, or, sitting in a facility for weeks/months/etc, have had quite the impact on this guitar. As an important example, I had purchased a Bullet Tele last year (the unit in Burst color offered here through MF), and it was/is flawless, and I completely upgraded every part. As I own approx'ly 53 guitars ranging primarily from ESP to Jackson (some of which in the better than $2K range), I love to take what's titled as a "beginner" guitar, and totally hotrod it with high end parts (such is the case w/this guitar). As mentioned above, I've reordered the guitar, as MusiciansFriend provided me a generous discount (without having to ask) to accommodate me. Upgrades- 1. Babicz Full Contact Tele "Ashtray" bridge Gold, 2. Genuine Fender Gold control plate, 3. Fender Infinity Gold strap locks, 4. Gold input jack Ferrule, 5. Custom built Gold Sparkle w/star cut-outs Tele pickguard, 6. Philadelphia Luthier Tools "Fat" neck plate/Gold w/gold neck mounting screws, 7. Earvana compensated nut (Ivory), 8. Philadelphia Luthier Tools Gold string trees, 9. Fender locking tuners, Gold, 10. EMG T-52 set (black), or, EMG T-set, Red., 11. EMG Gold Telecaster knobs. 12. Powder coated Red pickguard screws, 13. I am stunned.Been playing for 22 years. I need another guitar like I need a hole in the head. This was a condition 3 scratch and dent and I was leery given the reviews out there on condition 3. But I couldn't resist taking a chance at almost 50% discount. Been wanting a sunburst strat but something different than the standard burst.The antique burst was the ticket. Gorgeous finish. Thing is, I can't find any flaws! Just one small knot in the back of the neck at 7th fret but it plays great. Low action, no buzz. Some complain that these alnico 5 pick ups are too bright. Not this set. Very warm, mellow and blusey. I think the pu's in the 50's classic vibe are much brighter sounding. Sounds very much like the duncan designed sc 101's in my squier vintage modified strat. I have a candy red standard squier strat and those pickups do sound bright. This neck is a little chunkier than the candy red standard, more like the vintage modified w/o the high gloss finish. Very comfortable. I would not be disappointed had I payed the full price on this instrument. And would replace it if stolen. Very nice guitar.Timex

I bought this "for parts not working" but was able to repair it in a flash, & besides the slight damage, it was brand new. This is one of the more pricey Squier strats, top of the line. Still, I was a bit disappointed that it was neither stained nor lacquered–which is the case for most inexpensive Fender makes these days. So I stained it and shellacked it myself, looks cool. The wood grain body is totally outa sight, with a reddish swirl tint both front and back I've rarely seen. I'm tempted to replace the pickguard (just to make it different), but anything I do to this guitar will de-value it, so I'm leaving it completely stock. It appears just as good as any Mexican Fender, except for the neck which isn't quite as smooth at the back. I wish there had different pickguard choices from the factory, like pearlescent, but this is a good guitar to grab with a coupon or if on sale. Use caution not to mistake it for the similar, much lower priced Squier that's also sunburst, with tortoise shell but not the rich red swirl. They are night and day. Kudos.danle6819

I have been a musician well over 50yrs. and, have owned and played many guitars of all brands. This particular Strat just blew me away! I picked this up on a Black Friday deal and, it was sweet. MF always seems to come through with a good deal at just the right time. I have owned several Fender Strats MIA, MIM, and Squier, and, this one is really a Great Guitar. Granted it is not an American model and, does have a few limitations but, the value of this instrument can't be beat! Truthfully in the Squier line you need to move up from the bullet and, the Affinity to this model Standard then good things will happen. This instrument required very little setup. Set the action and, no fret buzz, adjusted the trem just a little, intonation was spot on, stretched the strings and, retuned 3 times, put a little No.2 lead pencil lead in the nut grooves, Left the truss alone and, plugged it in to my Fender Twin and, cut her loose—Perfection. Squier has really stepped up their quality and, the color on this instrument has to be seen in person to be appreciated! It is Beautiful !!! I just really can't say enough about this guitar so I'll just suggest that you check one out and, see for yourself. All the good and, positive reviews should tell you something.terrygh

We now have 3 Sawtooth guitars. We are extremely pleased with all of them. We have an acoustic, electric, and now this beginner's electric guitar pack. Our youngest son won't put this guitar down. The black is a cool see through gloss. You can see the wood grain through the gloss finish. The guitar is of good quality. Much better than I thought it would be.The amp is portable, and can be used for headphones. Take note, that this is an amp that takes batteries (9 volt), or you can get an adapter for it. Comes with everything he needed to get started.Maximilian

Did not receive all items that was displayed with this package ( missing was Gig soft case bag ) one of the reasons why I chose this package, my grand son was disappointed. I will not recommend this item n I plan to counsel my account with Walmart cause i did not get what i payed for, enough is enough.Peggy

I bought this as a beginner. To the untrained ear, as in my case, this guitar will last for a long time until I'm ready to upgrade. I recommend this set to any age group that would like something to start with.Justin

I am BLOWN AWAY!! I have gotten a LOT of guitars in the mail lately and this one is THE BEST DEAL I HAVE EVER HAD ON AN ELECTRIC GUITAR IN MY LIFE! Someone set this up PERFECTLY! I tuned it and it plays AWESOMELY!! The action is perfect. Nice, heavy construction, smooth neck, low action, perfect nut, perfect frets, even set up for 10's and that's the size I always use! Mine came with a hard case but they usually sell with a bag and you can see that they aren't just thin layered cheap bags, they are padded with zipper pockets and look like a heavy duty backpack for your instrument. The sticker on the peel-off plastic says it was set up here in the USA and you can tell. The ChromaCast cases are excellent, their cables are great, heavy duty, the picks are even pretty good, the strings are called Maximum Sustain and it does have noticeably long sustain! Sawtooth guitars are a cut above all the other lower priced instruments. I've played most of the less expensive guitars available today and Sawtooth guitars are top notch! I even saw Micheal Angelo Bateo playing them in the last NAMM videos! They are WORTH IT! A total joy to play! I will be getting more of these and you should too!!morbidforbid

Overall a very nice guitar, nice lite weight, set up out of the box. The only negative issue is the tremolo bar is very stiff.Jonnyray

Amazingly, this guitar is actually not too bad for a beginner. It has a decent sound, the amp is of acceptable quality for a beginner, and it actually stays in tune fairly well. You’re not going to get up on stage and play with this one but it was certainly a good investment for my 12 year old son who is just learning to play.Reviewer 14267

I would have to say that I was highly disappointed in this guitar set. I purchased one for my son as he is very interested in learning the guitar. It was purchased for his Christmas gift only to open it up on Christmas for it to not work at all. So we brushed it off and said “things happen.” We decided to purchase another one after having to explain to a 5 year old that he can’t play with his guitar on Christmas. Just received the second guitar only to find that it does not work either. Please find another option as these guitars are poorly made and for the price I can’t believe that they would sell something like this. BEWARE you have been warned!CHUNT

I love this Casino. I knew I wanted a P-90, and I really wanted a fully hollow body. I wanted to see if I could replicate a I've been agonizing over the purchase for months, looking for every possible solution, and was almost ready to pull the trigger on the Epi USA version, and after MUCH research, finally decided to go with the regular Epiphone. The construction, from everything I read, is excellent, and I knew that if necessary, I could always switch out the pups. Well, I can't say enough about how good this guitar is! I am extremely fussy on setups (I do setups on my own guitars and for other people) and this thing was ready to play right out of the box! I literally didn't touch a thing except to tune it up. I won't even have to dress the frets. I may touch them up just a bit (again, I'm really fussy) but they feel better than most guitars that cost three times as much. It is really beautiful. I love the vintage sunburst. The finish is flawless. Now for the important part – it plays like a dream. The neck profile is extremely comfortable. I can move up and down the neck as fluidly as on any guitar I own. And the sound! I was amazed at how present it is, even before plugging it in. I see this little sweetheart spending a lot of evenings on the couch with me. Soft enough not to overly bother my wife, but again – very present. Plugged in – well lets just say I won't be replacing these pups. It is exactly the sound I was hoping for. I'm no Grant Green, but I can certainly understand why he loved this guitar. Would I recommend it? Heck yeah! Country? Check. Classic rock? Check. Rockabilly, surf, blues and even jazz? Check, check, check, and check.Jess

Had the money to buy any guitar in the shop. Liked the looks of the SG, worn ebony with rosewood fingerboard and the Gibson speed knobs. Having only played guitars with 9.5 radius, I found the 14 radius was better for bar chords. The craftsmanship is excellent, can find no flaws the body or neck. The truss rod was out of adjustment, considerable back-bow. I fixed that, and set the action low. The intonation was spot on. Frets were polished with no sharp edges. I plan to upgrade the cheap electronics with new pots. As for the pickups, they sound ok. Since I use a modeling amp, not a big issue for me. The nut is a GraphTech synthetic bone. Nice touch for an inexpensive guitar, since i do not like changing them out…too much risk of damage. I have fender Strat and Tele, but have not put this down since purchasing it. Its not the les paul Baseball bat neck and not the Slim Taper. Its somewhere in between. Ebony Fretboard and EMG Passive pickups. The pickps have a pretty good punch and the guitar plays well the factory Floyd is a nice touch and thousands saved with the Epiphone as opposed to the Gibson Logo on the headstock. I have 2 of them and have no intention of changing the pickups at this point. for under 500 bucks its a great guitar. I did change the saddle in the Floyd to Floyd Originals for about 80 bucks parts cost. also routed out the inside a little for the big pull bake on my big block floyd upgrade… its an awesome guitar if you are a floyd guy and a les paul guy this guitar is a winnerjampatgal2012

Epiphone's Standard Left-handed Les Paul, while not perfect, is well-worth your money. If you're looking at a Gibson, but don't want to fork over the cash, it wouldn't be a bad idea to consider this instead. I agree with the previous reviews I've read that describe the guitar needing some setup work and attention to the action. But I also agree that it's a solid product, overall and well-worth your money. I purchased my guitar over 10 years ago, and noticed about 4 years back that it started having intermittent problems with the neck pickup. Sometimes it would work, sometimes not. It might be a good idea to invest in a soldering kit and a pickup selector switch for later on down the road. Do not let someone try to sell you a replacement pickup without first replacing the switch. It's a quick fix and much cheaper than a brand new humbucker, so long as you're not afraid to bust out that soldering iron. All in all, some setup work might be needed as well as some future-maintenance to the electronics, but it's worth it. This is a great sounding guitar with solid craftsmanship and it's a lot of fun to play.JT

I really like the bass I found, I played a bunch of these and they were all different. I got this one brand new in the box after playing a floor model. But after opening and inspecting, the setup was not really that good, so I did the setup, polished a few minor flaws and it plays excellent. I noticed the sound and the tone variation when blending the volumes and the tone pot really makes a difference, I can say that this was not the case of all of them I played. Mine has a three piece body, I've seen 1 and 2 piece bodies as well in this same model. I could not find another three piece, that's why I fixed the problems and kept it, because it sounds so good, there is something definitely different about this one. The tone, volume and dynamics between the strings is very balanced and it speaks bass if you know what I mean. I would be hard pressed to find another bass like this one. I've played this bass with a couple of bands and everyone likes the tone and I can say this bass has character and it is very musical and fun to play. So try it out and see and hear how you like it, I recommend this bass for beginners and professionals.Warren, F

Always easy to order from ProAudioStar. Their pricing and service are outstanding. This particular purchase was especially pleasant due to the impeccable quality of the Squier Paranormal Jazz Bass '54 I received from them. The bass was perfectly set-up. The frets were level and dressed, no sprout or sharp edges. The finish was beyond reproach. The neck pocket is tight, the tuners function as they should and the bass sounds like a Fender Jazz Bass should. I was initially reluctant to order it because it was a Squier and it was of Chinese manufacture. I got over my bout of casual brand snobbery and I am so pleased I did. If your looking for a funky Jazz bass that sounds and looks beyond its price point, buy this bass.VastBadger-51837

Overall, this is a good guitar. I'm having a good time with it, the neck is comfortable, the pickups sound really good and handle high-ish gain surprisingly well, and the color (I got the Daphne blue) looks incredible. Taken as a whole, if you're in the market for a Jazzmaster with all the classic JM features but don't have a ton of money to spend, I'd recommend it for sure. If you're going to buy it though, just be aware of a few things… 1.) It'll need a setup. Out of the box, the tuning stability was fine but once I used the vibrato a little bit, it went way out. The action wasn't bad but could be better and the neck may need a half degree shim. I'm probably going to end up putting a Fender AVRI vibrato on it eventually but a decent setup should make the stock one perfectly usable. 2.) It needs a good cleaning. This could very well just be the specific one that I got but the neck and headstock had a lot of dust and a slightly cloudy residue on them, the fretboard was very dry, and the frets were scratchy. None of these were anything that a little lemon oil, fretboard conditioner, a microfiber cloth, and some 0000 steel wool couldn't take care of but it's still something to be aware of. Note though that, while the frets were scratchy, their weren't any sharp fret ends. 3.) It probably isn't a great first guitar. I've seen this said a few times in other reviews and I completely agree. That's not to say that it isn't a good guitar because it is. More that it's not the most user-friendly instrument right away and could be off-putting to a beginner. A pro setup will do it a world of good and make it much easier to play but if you're in the market for a first guitar, look elsewhere. Am I glad I bought it? Yes. I mean, it's a Daphne blue Jazzmaster with a comfortable neck and awesome pickups! I don't mind working on my guitars a bit though, so none of the problems I talked about above bother me in particular. However, if you're looking for a plug-in-and-play guitar right out of the box, this one might not be for you.Jackson

I waiting on this on backordered for a few months (shell pink) and started to worry after looking at a bunch of YouTube reviews. Action, fret ends and leveling were great out of the box (which I really am not up for fixing; esp on a bound fingerboard). Frets could prob use a polish, but that's a lesser concern to me. No shim needed with 09s so far. I feel like recent shipments corrected some of the common complaints of this line… YMMV. I think the the nut is pinching a bit and the trem pivot is jumping a bit so I might go in and see if I can smooth it out. Pickups are microphonic under gains and comp… and I'm not sure if they are RWRP yet. One of the reason I went with MF is that if I wasn't satisfied I could go right into GC and trade towards and CV Jazzmaster. But overall pretty satisfied and think this will be a good first offset and short scale add to the collection.David

I want to love this guitar. Unfortunately however, I will have to be taking this one to a luthier to be set-up due to the neck. Everything for the most part is beautiful, it's a Jazzmaster. Fantastic dark, spanky jazzmaster tones, beautiful tortoise-shell guard, and the very eye-catching very elusive shell pink finish. Switches all seem to be in working order, though due to the position of the neck pickup to the strings right out of the box, the rhythm circuit will be noticeably quieter. Easy fix. I am unsure about the stability of the bridge, which is a Mustang bridge- a HUGE improvement, as I've seen in other reviews that the screwposts loosen by vibration. Vibrato does not return to tune. There is a very strange, unclean grime of some sort on the metal plate of the vibrato piece. I was unfortunate enough to receive a poorly conditioned neck, with glue residue left behind surrounding the tuning pegs on the face of the headstock. The lacquer finish is beautiful and is fine to play on. The fretboard is noticeably dry as well as the frets are unfinished, both feeling scratchy, and the frets being too rough to perform clean bends on. Not sure if it's the neck, the frets, or the bridge piece, or any of the three in combination that is causing the strings to be unable to bend even a half note without losing vibration, or being pinched off. Fret markers are a dark, cheap pearl. Overall, the fretboard itself just feels like Squier Affinity line quality. My impression is that most of the cost of this guitar- to keep it in line with the technologically cheaper instruments (telecaster the same price as a jazz, etc)- went into the body finish, and electronics. However, in the end I still love this thing and cannot wait to hear it sing once I get it set-up.Tyler

I am a 59 year old guitar player, had expensive and cheap gear over the years. I don't think I'm technically great but know how to get a good sound. When looking for a cheap guitar to sit with, my Les Paul and even my '88 Strat often got a bit uncomfortable , I decided to try one of these, you can return them after all, no trouble. What a great little guitar! Obviously GAK probably don't get these out of the box to check them, my box was still stapled shut from the factory, and this is OK at this level but I worry a beginner would be put off if the guitar is poorly set-up. First off the finish is superb, no rough edges to the frets, the colour and gloss on the body was perfect, the unvarnished neck just sits comfortably in the hand, I picked this above the more expensive 'Affinity' as apparently the nut width is a little wider. I didn't need to adjust the neck, I just cut the nut a little lower on the G,B and E strings for comfort. The frets needed a light rubbing with fine wet and dry and that was it, a perfect, light practise tool. I would even gig with this no problem. Each and every one of the tuners work smoothly and firmly. Sound wise, it sounds like a Tele to me and this is always a very subjective and personal thing anyway, I don't like overly powerful pickups (my Les Paul has '57's) I prefer to push the sound with pedals. All I can say is, if not sure, 'Buy one'. I have done nothing but played this to death since I got it 4 days ago, hard on the finger tips as I haven't played regularly for a while. I hope I haven't just got a 'good one' and would like to think any of them would be as good, all the reviews I read suggests so.Customer

I started looking for a “real” Strat with Fender on the headstock. My budget would work with a Player Series Strat so i started doing my research. The first couple I played weren’t overly impressive, the necks didn’t feel great and the switch & pots felt just like the Squier guitars I had. I saw a couple Squier CV models but I was determined to have the name Fender on my next guitar. I finally picked one up and was blown away! I loved it so I checked the specs and tried another CV and came away impressed. That night I placed my order with AMS, used their payment plan and a couple days later had one of my own. My other guitars are not seeing much use these days – just too fun and easy to play my real Strat! Thanks Squier/Fender.BigBuzz

Sound: If you're looking for the Strat sound this will obviously work. Features: I'm impressed with the quality of it. It stays in tune and it came perfectly set up right out of the box. Ease of Use: It is not playable at all for me. This guitar would be much better suited for a small guy or a female. Certainly not for somebody with big hands. Quality: I managed to get a good look at the pickguard when I dropped a Seymour Duncan JB Jr pickup in the bridge position. Everything looked good. My only complaint is that the output jack was loose. Value: Yes, but I wouldn't pay more. Manufacturer Support: N/A The Wow Factor: I got it because I wanted to have a lefty Strat. I had planned on painting it and making modifications to it anyway but the neck is too thin and it's unplayable. Overall: The checkout, delivery and everything with the zZounds went fine. But be warned that this has a VERY thin neck and every time I play it, it makes my hand hurt so I have to set it back down after two minutes.Craig

The guitar arrived with no tool kit or case candy, labels, etc. There was a piece of thread where a label should have been, but no label. I restrung it and tried for two days to get the tuning and intonation right, to no avail. (I have been playing a lot of years…not a beginner). Worst of all looking around the guitar there was a patch of, what appeared to be, dried blood. My conclusion was that this guitar had been sent out to someone else. They had possibly pricked a finger whilst stringing it, then realising it was badly made had returned it. When I ordered, PMT just sent the returned guitar out to me hence no label or tool kit. Incredible guitar in all respects. Plays very nicely. Plenty of volume, and killer tone. Built like a truck! Finish, and look are stellar! Light weight, and balanced. Great for rock, blues, and jazz! Neck is really nice! A simply super quality guitar thats worth every penny. Way above a starter guitar. Used for pro recording, and concerts. Fender has this one done right. If you want more tones, go the the 399 model, but this one is great, and versatile enough for me. Gets many comps from the crowd, and other musicians! Very original cool design!Jack

I bought my black metallic Squier Bullet eight years ago when GC was having a Columbus Day sale. I was looking for a guitar to which I could permanently mount my Roland GR-33 guitar synth's GK2a pickup. Previously I had the pickup mounted on my '96 Strat, and I didn't like this fit because I couldn't close my Strat's case with the pickup installed. I have a gig bag for this Squier, and it fits fine in the bag with pickup installed. Anyway, about the guitar. Right out of the box, it played great, requiring only a minimal amount of action adjustment. I was surprised at how good the pickups sounded, it being a Bullet and all. But the humbucker sounds especially nice when playing the guitar through my Marshall. The neck pickup has a decent sound, but not quite up to the snuff of a good alnico pickup. Still, for what the guitar cost, I really can't complain. If I want to, at some later date, I can always change out the neck pickup to a better alnico model. One thing I especially like about this black Bullet is its looks. The photos here at GC don't show it off all that well, but the guitar body's finish is metallic and the pickguard is a heavy metal flake. It looks spectacular under the lights. And the black hardware does a great job of completing that black look. The Bullet's body is thinner than a typical Strat or Squier Affinity or Classic Vibe body. The result is a light weight guitar, but there is no sacrifice in tone.Michael

Purchased the Squier Affinity Telecaster from local GC store. They had this and a bullet in stock. I chose the Affinity due to the overall feel and fret ends we're more smooth. For a sub 250ish price guitar you cannot expect it to play like a 1000+ price guitar and I totally get that. Now I did expect it to at least stay in tune. One thing to add however is I am uncertain how long this particular guitar had been in stock. Now after a few hours of playing I noticed I could not get this guitar to intonate. No matter what I did the low e and a string always sounded sharp. I ended up replacing the stock tuners with locking tuners, cleaned the fretboard, gently filed and lubricated the nut, and replaced the strings with Ernie ball 9's. Now she is in tune, intonation was a breeze and she stays in tune. Sounds like a whole new guitar.Steven
