1. Michael Kelly Mod Shop 50 Duncan Electric Guitar Burl Burst
Product Details:
The duncan quarter pounder set delivers fat, sparkly tones and the mk quad mod electronics modification expands your sonic options. these are amazing instruments, and no collection is complete without one or two! quad mod the quad mod gives you the traditional three-position tonal performance while adding a valuable 4th pickup setting. this added tonal option turns on both neck and bridge pickups in series which is a thick and punchy tone much like a humbucker. however, considering the two coils are located in completely different locations on the guitar the tone is as unique as it is a useful and welcome addition to the standard two single-coil pickup configuration. seymour duncan pickups probably the best-known pickup company in the world, seymour duncan is a leader. they earn that position daily with great pickups and mk have enjoyed teaming with them to find just the right duncans for their models.

Great sound and quality finish. Liked it so much I bought the matching strat. Highly recommend.RA
She's a beautiful looking guitar and sounds awesome with the Seymour Duncan Quarter-Pound pickups! I can not set this guitar down. The korina wood body produces a great tone and Duncan pickups just expand on it. I was looking for a T-style guitar. I tried many and for the money and quality, this was the best in my opinion! I received a great deal on it from Sam Ash and highly recommend them for purchasing any instrument. Their staff is top notch, very professional, very knowledgeable, and go the extra step to ensure you have a great playing/sounding instrument before you leave their store! Chris and Kurt are awesome!!!PETER

Reviews:
With this guitar going on sale it's worth the wait, it's neck feels awesome and active emg's for Rock and metal especially sound great bit it'll handle any style you jam. It is a quilted maple top but there's a big difference between satin and gloss but still looks awesome but that glassy look many have is far from this. Plus if you do the points you'll get enough back to get the musicians friend molded case for single cutaway guitars which fits this guitar really well. For the money it'd be hard to find a better guitar in this price range ,it's also fairly light which your shoulder will thank you forRock it out
When you look at construction; great p'ups (JB & 59 SD's on my sunburst), locking tuners, tonepros locking bridge, a comfortable weight, good balance, more bling than a guitar deserves (although I do find that all of this abalone makes the fingerboard feel glass-smooth and is super fast!), great sustain and with a decreased head-stock angle (over the LP) to reduce neck breakage, 2-way adjustable truss rod and a much better price it's sort of a no brainer. I've had mine about 2 years and did have to change out the 3-way toggle after about 6 months due to periodic shorting out, but other than that it's been a fantastic guitar. Some day I might spring for the LP, but guitars are about tone, ergonomics, durability and how they comfortable they feel & play. The LTD EC-1000 has a lot going for it. It'll rock your socks off and cleans up nicely too! I can get some great country tones out of this one as well!JS
Fwiw, my experience is limited to being an "experienced beginner", not quite a low level intermediate. This guitar plays great and came set up decently with no obvious flaws in finish or quality. I believe it may be on sale because of problems with the finish color. Mine is beautiful, but definitely not the color described. The back is black, but the front is very greenish with off-white, yellowish binding. I love it, but if you are set on the color as described you could be disappointed if the whole batch is like this.Soylent Green
3. Seymour Duncan Sh-2n Jazz Model Humbucker Neck Pickup – Zebra
Product Details:
Provides an articulate and clear tone. great for fast runs. the brighter tone has slightly less output and is a good match with most bridge pickups. when distorted, the tone is full and bright. smooth sustain. compared to the sh-1 '59 model, the jazz has slightly less output and a more detailed treble response. comes with four-conductor hookup cable.available in both neck and bridge models. often a jazz neck is paired with an sh-4 jb (seymour's favorite combination) or sh-5 duncan custom in the bridge position for diverse tones.for balanced and warm instruments. works especially well with mahogany bodies and rosewood fingerboards. also works great with hollow and semi-hollow body guitars.

Reviews:
Obviously pickup/sound preferences are subjective and gear dependent but I think this is definitely a standard for neck pickups. This is hands down my favorite one and I have had it in at least 5 guitars. It’s warm but not fuzzy, clear but not overly bright, and has sounded great under any level of gain. Great if you play multiple genres. I primarily play higher-gain styles and the Jazz is great for leads. If you think a ‘59 is too bright, this will do the trick.Alex
Have been looking to buy this set of Seymour Duncan Saturday Night Special pickups almost the day they were released; However, living in Canada, there is a 3 month to one year delay on new products becoming available. Squid music had my order shipped within 2 hours of payment, and the item arrived at my door one day earlier than the earliest estimated arrival date. No customs/duty charges were attached to my package either. Haven't gotten these puppies installed yet, but I have to say I am more than 110% satisfied with the level and quality of service. The price was the best I found anywhere. Highly recommend!mesa0131
Bought to replace standard MIM strat humbucker. Sounds good, not amazingly different from the stock pickup, but good. Doesn't split as well as stock. Sounds best with overdrive. Didn't fit standard humbucker opening or adjusting screw holes. Come on Seymour Duncan, this is made to fit these guitars specifically, and it doesn't fit without modification. Kind of disappointed on that front. Can be remedied fairly easy if handy with tools.patricmertaug-0

Reviews:
2016 Gibson Les Paul Studio with Marshall DSL-20cr combo has a brighter sound on 10th fret and up. On ultra gain channel high or low output it is very expressive. On bridge pickup when picked very soft to very hard picking it goes from warm to howling sound. Neck pickup has a little more of everything than the Burstbucker had. The clean sound is really bites when cranked up on a Peavey Classic 50 2×12 combo clean channel. Good Blues Rock. Great for late 60s and 70s rock n rollJOE
Just installed these in my 2015 Gibson SG Special and I am very impressed. The guitar came with Gibson 61 Zebra hum buckers and sounded a bit harsh and thin. Then the PCB wiring went bad on one volume pot so I pulled the whole board out and rewired without it. All new pots and 50s wiring so why not some new pups too? I chose the Duncan Phat Cats but was unhappy with the exaggerated upper midrange that P90s exhibit. Really nice pups but not for me. Put the Gibson 61s back in but still the thin and unpleasant sound. So the next move was these Duncan APH-1 alnico II pros and they are delightful. Very alnico II sound and I like it but they do have some body that Seth Lovers and Antiquities do not have. Perfect for an SG, which does not have the inherent "body" of a true Les Paul. Really quite pleased with these pups!! Been playing since 1969 so lots of guitars and pups have passed thru these hands and ears.300dbenz
My BC Rich Eagle was made to play metal. But I installed these pickups for more versalitay. I used high quality vintage covered wiring and CTS pots from Stew Mac, with an orange cap. When the pots are dialed down to 8 I get a glorious clean tone perfect for my work with church worship. I have been told my tone sounds acoustic; which is great because I don't like playing acoustic guitars. Up to 10, these pickups naturally distort a bit and have quite the edge. I would recommend these pickups to any Les Paul style guitar. I have never tried the Pearly Gates pickups, but from what I have read, the Slash signature pickups have more harmonic range. You can get many different sounds just by tweeking the volume knob. This pickup is a great way to upgrade your git!Mick
5. Seymour Duncan Sh-Pg1b Pearly Gates Bridge Humbucker Pickup – Black
Product Details:
Application warm, slightly-hotter-than-vintage humbucker. great for blues, classic rock, southern rock, jam, and hard rock. description originally designed as a recreation of the pickups in the '59 les paul standard that defined the raw, rebellious sound of texas blues-rock. the pearly gates is sweet, but slightly rude, with great sustain and a bright top end that make harmonics jump out of the guitar. comes with four-conductor hookup cable. complete setup often used in both neck and bridge positions. can be used in the bridge with an aph-1n alnico ii pro in the neck for smoother tones; or, a pearly gates in the neck with an sh-11 custom custom for heavier rock sounds from the bridge position. guitars for brighter toned instruments. works especially well with maple and ebony fingerboards. also works great with hollow and semi-hollow body guitars.

I have had this guitar for about a month now. From the first day, I have absolutely loved this guitar. The included Seymour Duncan pick ups sounds amazing and the push/pull function gives you a nice range of voices. Everything about the build of this guitar feels amazing. The neck and the frets are smooth and well cared for, the quality of the hardware is top shelf. If you want a Les Paul, just forget about Gibson. This is what you want, of course there are many versions of this guitar, Any one of the EC-1000's are great, but the finish on this one is pretty outstanding in person.Logan C
Amazing, right out of the box! Gorgeous maple top and headstock design along with the flag inlays and black/chrome hardware. But how it handles…wow! The 'U' shape neck is just like my '72 Strat so the LTD felt familiar right away. (The U neck is chunky and may not be right for everyone) It's really well balanced sitting down or standing with a strap. The action is spot on and access to the higher frets not a problem. The bridge is comfortable on the right hand. And the specific instrument that I ordered is HEAVY. It feels like I'm playing a full guitar, not just a slice of a guitar! And the sound… THE SOUND!! The EMG 81 is incredible! It's actually making me play more accurately and deliberately because it will not allow sloppy playing. Play sloppy on the 81 or 86(neck pickup) and there's NO hiding it. Took a little while to get used to the high output of the EMGs but well worth it. I could not be happier with this guitar and the price is incredible.
I got the natural black color. Its a really nice looking guitar. With a different name on the head stock it would cost thousands. Sounds great, you can play any type music on it. Perfect out of the box . No setup at all needed to be done. I saved almost 200.00 with a blemish model model that was basically perfect.Ltd

Reviews:
Sound: I put this set into a Squier Contemporary HH Strat and after some trial and error experiments with pickup height, I am blown away by the versatility of this set.You want METAL, you got it.You want funk ala 'Love Rollercoaster' by the Ohio Players, you got it.Blues, psychedelia, pop, Skynyrd… It's all here if you know to EQ your gear.I've used this guitar through three Marshalls; a DSL1CR, an Origin 20 head through an MG412, and a Valvestate VS15R.Through the clean channel on the DSL I found it really easy to drive the tubes for a nice dynamic sound that varies with the nature of your picking technique. Through the Ultra Gain channel… Pure Mayhem – roll back the treble. With the Origin 20 I found a similar response as on the clean DSL, just louder. The VS15R is solid state and the variety of sounds was totally dependant on the EQ settings. The VS15R has dual pre-gains and with both of them dimed… ULTRA MAYHEM.I've also run this set through a Vox VT40X using the 'Fender Deluxe Reverb' model. With some light compression and a splash of reverb you can achieve a funk sound that is suitable for everything from RHCP to the Ohio Players.I had no idea… This is one incredible set of pickups! Features: When I modded the guitar I replaced the stock 'master volume/master tone' pickguard with a standard Strat model except that I configured it for dual volumes and master tone.If you, the reader, intend to put these pickups in a Strat style guitar, I IMPLORE you to not go the 'master volume' route. By tweaking the individual volume levels you can get an endless variety of sounds. With a master volume you are cheating yourself out of so much… It's almost an insult to these pickups to use a single volume to control them. Ease of Use: It's incredibly easy to get a great sound from these pickups. It's all in the amp's EQ and the height of the pickups. I found the "sweet spot" to be half way between the strings and pickguard. Quality: This is a US made Seymour Duncan pickup. Their quality… Dumb question. Next! Value: For the price this set is an incredible value. Manufacturer Support: I've never had a problem with SD pickups, but I've only been using them since 1986 so… The Wow Factor: "Wow Factor"… In summary I would say this set is like a slight brighter and more modern version of the DP100 Super Distortion. Yeah, they're THAT GOOD.Wow, huh? Overall: Summary: This is an incredibly versatile set of pickups. They're capable of more than just metalMark
Overall: I've had this many guitars. This is a very powerful pickup. It's almost too much in many instances if you're not playing straight up metal. I had a noise problem with it even when turning down the volume knob because it's so high output. I think it's really good, but a little buzzy or bright for me. The custom 5 I thought was better. Not as powerful maybe, or just different.
I'm getting old and just recently got into the digital side of things with amps and tone. I actually was quite impressed with how far the digital technology has come and my Fishman Fluence pickups sounded… almost like hooking up to real amps. Huge range of tone! I then bought a new guitar that came with a Black Winter guitar pickup that I planned to swap out. As I tuned and tested the guitar with my old pedal board and amp I found a very good match for this pickup. I play older death/black metal for a hobby now and I found the Black Winter to capture the tone perfectly and it even sounds good when you spike the mids. The Fluence has better range and clean tones but the Black Winter has a "sour melt" on the harmonics that I can't pass up. Works best with; Death Metal, Sludge, Alternative styles. It tightens up nicely but struggles a little with Djent/Metalcore and clean tones but got the job done. Like any modern pickups in its class it handles higher mids peels off any style of palm muting and pinch harmonics, but some how it got me stuck playing my best covers of Hammer Smashed Face by Cannibal Corpse and Soul Crusher by White Zombie. Played live using a LTD M-Series into a TS-808, Rocktron Hush,Randall RG1003H 100W Solid State. Recording test played using a Gibson 1975 Flying V into a Kemper Profiler Head with preloaded (free) amps/effects.Bent Gimlet

Reviews:
This pickup reminds me of the Dimarzio Breed pickup which is now discontinued. This is a little more balanced in the mids however which is nice. The output is moderate but not high output, but it definitely is a modern sounding pickup. It is very clear and articulate but not harsh and the top end is thick and smooth. Works very well with high gain amps. I have three of these pickups in my guitars and they seem to work very well with many different wood types, Mahogany, Ash and Alder. I have had this pickup in another guitar for over a year and still really like it, thus the reason I purchased another. For a great no too over the top pickup that seems to work in many different applications, this can't be beat.Dave
So, I recently bought a 2020 Epiphone Les Paul Custom Silverburst for a backup guitar. My number 1 being a 2019 Gibson Les Paul Traditional. The Epi is a beautiful, great playing (after a good setup) guitar. But the Epi Probuckers kinda suck. Enter these Seymour Duncans. I can't believe that I just discovered them. They transformed this beautiful mud-machine into a pro level instrument. (Along with a new nut and bridge) But the tone possibilities are endless. Clean, warm jazz. Bighty blues, serious distortion/ metal/crunch. They're really affordable, easy to install and will transform any B-grade guitar into a serious player. Buy them, you'll see….Gary N
I bought a DBZ (Dean B Zelinksy) now Diamond guitars model Royale FM in Tobacco. Excellent Korean made guitar but the pickups never meshed with me. I wanted it to sound more Les Paul-ish. The pickups that came with it are well made by G&B but seemed more geared for metal. Triple ceramic bridge and alnico neck. These pickups give this great guitar Body and Neck a more traditional sound. I love them both, in humbucker and even split coil. The thin large body on this guitar has resonance for days due to its unique shape despite being light. I took a chance and love this guitar. The neck and hardware is great too. The JB and Jazz set are Seymour Duncan favorite combination so what more is there to say? I still wonder about the 59 in the neck instead but I love the SH-2 Jazz so I am not disappointed. Highly recommended.mongrel345

I play Gibson guitars. I am not a big fan of Gibson pickups. So I always switch them to Seymour Duncans. I have several guitars and they all have different sets of Duncans on them. The SH-4 JB is by far my favorite! The sounds I get with them thru a Boss GT-10 is unbelievable! The SH-6 is my 2nd. I have been playing my entire life and I am here to say that Seymour Duncan pickups are the BEST! I take out Gibson 57s, Burstbuckers, Dirty Fingers, etc, and replace them with Duncans. 5 stars is a low rating.mphilo

Ease of Use: Schematic comes in the box. Easy to use and essemble. Can use on anything w/ humbuckers. Quality: These are handmade in the United States and are beautiful right out of the box. I have had it for months and they perform like new. No need for a backup of any kind. Value: This is worth every penny. Manufacturer Support: There is no waranty. The Wow Factor: There is no way I could play without it. Overall: I think i will use these pickups for years to come. Absolutely no others like it.
I aquired a dual humbucker guitar and went thru my box of pickups and installed an APH1 in the bridge and a DiMarzio in the neck. Got good sounds but something was a little off in the neck. Finally pulled the trigger and bought an APH1 for the neck. Turned a very good guitar into a great tone machine.jeg1857

Tried these in a 50's American Strat Reissue. Super quiet, still got some decent Strat sounds, but ended up going back to single coils. Bridge was hot, but too dark for my taste. Thinking of getting another Strat for these as I loved how quiet they were and even though the bridge was dark, it had a great, almost humbucker-ish drive, making the bridge only position much more useful than most single coils.Anthony
i've been playing for almost 40 years. last 35 all acoustic. hadn't played electric since college. then… my son goes off to college and i inheret his squire standard strat which he played maybe twice. (also his practice amp whose upgrade is for another forum). its a suprisingly playable axe…the maple neck has excellent uniform grain, the body is HEAVY (agathis i think?) with remarkable sustain. the pickups had a sorta decent strat twang but were noisy and hollow. i researched the SD's and went with the everything axe set including pickguard, switch, jack and pots. there was no soldering needed as there is a screw-down terminal block. the input simply gets connected and you're good to go. it was tricky getting the pickup height balanced so i took it to the local guru and now its sweet as honey from the bee. the little 59 is fat and soulful, the duckbucker tight and crisp, the JB jr like a buzzsaw. the 2 and 4 positions provide incredible versatility. i find myself lost in any one position/combination for hours. there is so much to discover in these pick ups. glassy cleans with and without reverb sound amazing in any position. when overdriving them they are punchy and complex with lots of overtones. when i sell this squire i'll DEFINITELY remove the SD's to save for any future projects.onetracker
I bought a used Fernandes Strat copy from my local music store for around $100. As I loved the feel of the neck and the sound, I just couldn't pass it up. Before long, of course, I made some small improvements: new pots, pickup selector switch, and input jack. I wanted more versatility, as I already own a Fender Strat, so after a lot of comparing, reading, and listening, I bought and installed the Everything Axe pickup set.Does these pickups do everything? Of course not; not literally. But what it is supposed to do, it does great! I have no noise, humbucker sounds, and Strat sounds in positions 2 and 4. The volume and tone pots are MUCH more usable than my Fender, which is giving me ways to express my music in ways I couldn't before. I can get good tones in every genre I play: blues, rock, jazz, rockabilly, and swing. That's close enough to "everything" for me!I read that some folks had trouble adjusting the pickups so that the output level was matched. It took awhile to get that for me as well, but it isn't difficult; it just takes awhile–and with the end result being what it is, it was well worth the time.My only niggle is that you are limited to white. If you want black, you have to buy the pickups separately. If you want cream (which was my original color choice), well, you're hosed. White it is, then. I'm sure they'll yellow over they years like my Fender has, so in 15 years or so, they'll be fine. One more note: Be sure to check out Seymour Duncan's website for wiring schematics. They are very good and with the exception of not showing the ground connections, complete.Good luck, and keep jamming!bluesrider99-XN1X9

finally an affordable horizon. The picture will have you believe the guitar is greener than it is. Its more of a teal but that does NOT take away from the beauty of this thing. The pickups are the Pegasus and pearly gates. Not what's in the description. Played very well out of the box. My only gripe is that the locking tuners seem to not work so well so we may swap those out. Tone is huge on this guitar for metal. The angular body, pickups and color are what drove me to pick it up without playing it first. And I am not disappointed.Face
