what a great bass! It's beautiful, light, and sonically versatile. the different pickup modes have 3 radically different tones which makes this bass right for lots of situations. I've seen some reviews that mentioned so issues with some fret roughness but mine showed up in perfect condition. I couldn't be happier with the bass. I also want to mention the customer service. I used the chat feature to confirm whether this bass came with a bag or case. the agent let me know that it does not but pointed me to the bundle that includes the bag and they set me up with a price I could not pass up. once I completed the purchase the item was shipped within 90 minutes. This is a great short scale bass. It is a quality instrument. The finish is excellent. Playability straight out of the box was very good. Nicely set up.I love the pick-ups and the ability to blend the two with their individual volume controls. Great range of tones available. It looks good too ! Highly recommended. Really good guitar for nirvana type music. Only issue is that you need to set it up for it to be playable but once it's set up it's a great instrument. Pickups are pretty articulate but not to bright either just perfectly balanced. If you get one I recommend to lock the bridge down to improve its tuning stability and sustain. Note it DOES NOT sound like a kc style mustang, it has its own sort of sound to it. Fretboard is pretty nice same with the low radius which I prefer. Overall it's one of my favorite guitars I've ever bought and I cannot recommend it enough if you play grunge and nirvana music.Preston

Purchased the Fender Player Jazz bass. Overall great looks and sound, but some quality issues from the Fender Mexico factory (not Andertons' fault): – First bass had very clear weird uneven blemish under the varnish on the sunburst body. Not awful, but if I was in-store I would never have chosen that particular item. Returned and swapped by Andertons, no quibbles. Second bass arrived. Overall happy, sounds great, but still a few issues with quality control and design. – Control plate was missing 2 screws and was moving around – how does that get through Fender quality control? Replacement screws sent free of charge by Andertons. – Nut has not been slotted correctly – high G must have been passed through a machine and slipped, string is clearly a couple of mm too close to fretboard edge and you can see the failed first pass. Doesn't really affect playability, but is annoying and I will get it corrected at some point. Again, points to poor quality control. – Fretboard (Pau Ferro) is really thin – on the Player series, at least. Neck fret dot markers in white are half over the mid-dark fretboard, half over the light maple neck. Very hard to see in low light levels. OK, so they're just an indicator for position, but the design isn't great. So overall, the bass sounds great and Andertons service was very good. …and falls in love. Let me start by saying I actually have owned one other P-Bass. I had a 50s reissue Precision, but honestly the neck was just too thick for my liking after years of playing Jazz basses. Honestly, it felt thicker than the neck on my Yamaha 5-string. So, I picked this bass up after always dancing around getting what would be considered a more standard P-Bass. I have a 70s Jazz with a ton of modifications, I've had quite a few other brands of basses, but I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I ordered this a few weeks ago, and have been very pleasantly surprised. The action was pretty good out of the box. I adjusted it a bit, made a few tiny tweaks to the intonation, and now it's super smooth. And, on the pickups, let me say it's a great sounding bass. Pickups are clear, bass sounds great. I play through a little Ampeg Micro cabinet. Earlier this week, I bought some Flats to throw on it (because that's what you do with a P-bass, right?) and now it's quickly becoming one of my favorite instruments to jam with. It really cuts through the mix when playing in a group. I see why folks really love the sound of a precision. My Jazz still has it's place, but man, I really like the sound of this bass. The Player P is a great value for what you get. I've never owned an older MIM, but I research the heck out of pretty much any purchase I make, and it looks like Fender really stepped it up with this rendition of their MIM Precision basses. Good tone out of the box, no discernible pickup noise, good action, a beautiful neck, and a Tidepool Blue finish that just shines and shines.Dennis F

I bought mine new and it's everything positive others say about it. Don't know what bobz429 is talking about. Obviously he has a modified model. Hardware is first rate with a Hagstrom designed P90 single coil at the neck and classic '58C humbucker at the bridge (Hagstrom winds their own pickups). It's a joy to play, very clean factory pups, beautiful finish, very well crafted and flawless. Rivals guitars up to 3 times the cost in my opinion. The Hagstrom composite Resinator fret board is fast and has good sustain. This guitar can be used for jazz with very clean articulation and voicing, moan the blues, fit right into classic or grunge rock and growl with the best of 'em throughout it's entire range. The ringing clarity is stunning! It's a lot of bang for your buck, and lighter than you'd think for a guitar with a 28" scale. A "tad" neck-heavy balance wise, but once you play it and realize it's potential from mild to wild, this is easily overlooked and by "no means" a deal breaker. It has 5 star ratings across the board for a reason. It's simply that good! This is a players guitar and one I'll keep the rest of my life. It will surprise and please you once you plug it in. This is an amazing baritone. Plug it in, crank it up, and jam 'til the cows come home! If your in the marketfor a baritone guitar, the Hagstrom Viking Deluxe is very hard to beat! With more than 15yrs. of experience with various Hagstrom guitars and over 40yrs. of playing and performing, this instrument and review was an unexpected and a very pleasant surprise. I will acknowledge that I was prompted to pull the trigger on the purchase in no small part because of a couple of reviews here on MFI, one by a fellow who is an American musician living in Sweden. From what I was able to glean from a collection of YouTube videos from past NAMM shows, it looks like the Viking DLX 12 made it's debut about 2016, and has had at least one major update since, with the most notable being larger, but traditional-shaped F-holes on the top, fully creme bound, of course. I very much agree with the opinion previously expressed about there being a major advantage for Hagstrom because of their sourcing all woods(primarily Canada)and all hardware and electronics, leaving their factory contractors in China to concentrate on building the best looking/sounding instrument possible. I would place current Hagstrom product on a par with anything from the Park factories in Korea, and nearly on par with some of the older product that came from Matsumoko in Japan. IMHO, and as pointed out by a previous reviewer, the only real contenders in this narrow category of instrument are the hollowbody Ric 300 Series, and the current Gretsch Electromatic 5422-12, both of which are 2-3X the cost of a new Viking DLX 12. Pickups are clear voiced but fairly hot, and the Resonator fretboard feels great and works with the overall timbre of a maple bodied guitar. The bookmatched flame maple body sides, top, and back are a sight to behold; laminated but beautiful. The most playable and comfortable neck I have EVER put in my hand for a 12-string; a profile similar to an early 60's Gibson or modern ESP being "thin", but with a 15" radius and a 45mm black Tusq nut. Perfect for chording and rhythm, but enough room between string pairs for either finger or flatpicking with precision. Get ItArch69er

It caught my eye hanging in my local Guitar Center in Goodlettsville, TN, which has a terrific staff btw. I asked to try it and was quite impressed with the overall build quality and set-up. Simply perfect; action, intonation, fret dressing, etc. It didn't need a thing! Thought about it overnight and returned the next day to buy it.Alan

I have previously played and owned only long scale basses. Have always wanted to try a short scale. Went to my local GC and tried a few they had in house. The short scale Sterling was a nice looking bass but the fret work was terrible. Based on reading other reviews I took a risk and ordered a Squire CV 60 Mustang. It is a beautiful instrument. Arrived in great condition with absolutely no flaws. Finish is great, Fretwork is great, string action and intonation were nearly perfect. Hard to believe that Squire can make an instrument like this for such a reasonable price.Jim

I have always wanted a short-scale Fender and decided to pull the trigger on the Squire CV version. Being a Gibson player, the 25.5 scale length always threw me off but this Mustang is very easy to play/swap between my Les Paul and 335's. The single-coil tones are great and certainly a contrast to the humbuckers & P90's I usually play. To be 100% honest, you better have some skills in setting up guitars and polishing frets or be prepared to pay a tech to get these guitars to their full potential. I had to completely polish the frets and fiddle for weeks to get the action to my liking. A neck shim is almost essential to get any height on the bridge and provide enough downward pressure to keep things intonated. I have no idea why Fender doesn't do this on all Mustang's, Jazzmasters and Jaguars since this is a very well-known issue. Once dialed in and frets polished up, this Mustang is a little tone monster.Jason F

Sound: It's a classic Mustang sound. Ease of Use: The Mustang bass was originally made for younger players and students, but it has a serious professional following as well. Quality: The only problem initially was rough fret ends which were quickly taken care of. Look for pro advice online as to how to do this. Value: Because I owned one before, I feel this is worth the selling price. Manufacturer Support: No contact with Fender about any concerns. Unless it's something out of my ability I'll handle it myself. The Wow Factor: When I first saw the "Vintage Vibe" Mustang bass, it owned me. Overall: I've owned one before and had to sell it. Incredible instrument. I've always preferred short scale basses because they're so much fun to play. Had to buy this one. I like playing this bass more than my 2001 American Series Precision bass! You won't be disappointed. Perhaps some minor tweaking may be needed, but worth every cent.Ampman

Overall: I wandered into a national Music store chain one day in Oct 2016 and went straight to the used guitars that were hanging on the wall in the used section. I'm always trying to keep an eye out on a good used Music Man electric as I try to collect these fine instruments. That particular day there was pretty slim pickings so I wandered through amps, effects and I ended in the pass guitar section. (I do play bass but usually when I write my own tunes) and this 6 string bass caught my eye. It didn't look cheap so I asked one of the vultures hovering there ( employees, just doing their gig) what he could tell me about this bass. It was pretty light-weight, first impression, so he gave me the run-down on the thing and I asked him if I could put it through the paces that I knew and we plugged it into an Ampeg mini brute what ever it was called and began a 45 minute of exploration where I passed this through an extensive test regarding tone, intonation,ease of reaching pots, tome control, The bass boost, I checked out the spec's which were pretty tight on with what was written. The balance was great, ease of use overall in case I plan to take a 6 string bass to a gig and perform for 3 hours was good weight-wise. I was particularly impressed with the bright tome. I was impressed in the selection of pickups that were available with this instrument. I've been performing on stage since I was 8 years old but mostly on guitar. Overall: I bought this simply to see if I want to pursue playing a 6 string. Beyond a few brief encounters in music stores, I have not played one and opted to try the tried-and-true Ibanez brand. The price point had me a little scared but this was a great purchase. I don't expect to have this long being I will either continue on the 6 string, or it will be flipped into something else. This is my first Ibanez and I will likely give the higher end SR models a closer look regardless of string count. The Good: Price, the setup was perfectly playable out of the box, tone is decent, weight is good for a 6 string, the fret ends a dressed. The Bad: doesn't balance well (Raw leather strap helped), finish is thin and wood not worth keeping natural (wanted the black model but, out of stock), Odd EQC.j.

I had no trouble setting up this bass. I was able set the intonation perfectly. Even the low strings sustain pitch very well and were easy to tune. I added a slight relief to the neck, because there was a lot of string buzz. After this slight adjustment to the truss rods, there is only a buzz when playing hard on the bottom 3 frets of the lowest string. The action is still low and it is very easy to play (though I do have long fingers). The stock strings are very cheap. As someone else stated, I feel upgrading to higher quality strings may resolve the low B buzz issue. The tone is amazing thanks to the built in EQ bass boost. I found it easier to play harmonics than my other basses. Walking bass lines sound smooth and percussive playing sounds pro. This is my new favorite bass. I can't wait to play it with the band.Michael O

I spent a few weeks trying out basses at my local music stores before settling on this bass. What set this bass apart from the others was the tone and the various tones I could get out of it, as well as it's playability. The active EQ is far better than the passive EQ's that I find on other basses. For example, the EQ on Jackson basses are all but useless. There was very little tone difference when varying the EQ controls on Jackson basses. But on this Ibanez, you really hear the difference in the tone settings. The Ibanez has a bass, mid, and treble tone control. So you can really dial in the tone you're looking for. Also, the individual string height adjustment on the Ibanez lets me tailor the action to exactly how I like it. The guitar is well balanced weight wise and so hangs naturally when I play it. I have a BC Rich mockingbird bass which is terribly weighted ad the headstock drops to the floor if I don't have my fret hand supporting the neck. The string spacing on the Ibanez 5 string is good, and I can still play slap bass on it. All the knobs on the bass (except the volume knob) have a mid point that you can feel as your adjusting the tone controls, so you know exactly where "flat" is. I really like that feature.beaglebuddy

Unexpectedly nice looking bass. 2 piece fllamed maple body with a darker burst than the website photos suggested. Not bookmatched, but a nicely figured body. Super versatile preamp and nice sounding, powerful and noise free pickups. Fast, slim neck and good quality hardware. I've tweaked the set up over a couple of weeks and it's playing really well. A far nicer bass than I expected for the price, after some playing in I think it will be better than my mid 90s SR. Almost 40 years of playing experience and this bass is by far the best value that I've experienced. I've had my share of Precisions, Jazz basses, etc. over the years up to the $1500 range. When the pandemic kicked in I had sold most of my equipment but decided I had to have one bass. The neck is solid and similar to a P-bass thickness which I prefer and I don't need a 24-fret, 2 octave one anymore based on playing blues, jam, reggae, and rock. The tonal landscape is phenomenal rolling off the treble or bass dependent upon what I'm playing. Bright highs and deep lows are easily accomplished. I've never written a review before, but this was worthy of the time. Enjoy!Steve

Sound: when you own a sterling bass you do know, what your getting in quality . this bass is heavier then my sterling sub music man. same bass just diff color .the pick up of course is still amazing ,from my sub to this bass today. Ease of Use: i pulled out the box, was not in tune from shipping of course. used my d,addario head stock tuner on it, was only off a little from shipping. easy to retune and play out of the box. Quality: i love these bass., i have small hands. witha full scale to the get the best of the tone possible, long scale is the only way for me. small hand will use the neck as a whole. I'm a long time guitarist with some really fine instruments who decided to pick up a "value" bass just to learn for fun. Knowing what to look for in guitars, I translated that over to basses and went to GC to try some out, see what appealed to me, and how far I could stretch the dollars I was willing to spend on an instrument to start out and, maybe, stick with. I found this Sterling by Music Man Ray4 in mint green that filled the bill on all fronts. As usual, the guys at GC let me try several instruments and test to my hearts content. I do all my own guitar set-ups and would never buy a guitar sight unseen, being worried about how much adjustment might be needed. The Ray4 wasn't too bad out of the box (quite literally because I didn't like the display instrument and they had another in stock for me to try). Once home, I did adjust neck relief, string height, intonation, and pickup to a point that I liked best. The pickup required the most adjustment actually because it had gotten stuck in an odd and very high position, perhaps from being jostled in shipping. There is some fret sprout on the higher frets, but nothing that would bother my hand. Bottom line: Everything could easily be adjusted to where I really like it and has been stable now over several days. It's comfortable to play and is, in my opinion, a real "looker." The satin finished neck is great and, although I usually don't go for maple fret boards, I do like this one. I'm very pleased with my purchase decision and would buy it again. I really like the look, feel, and simplicity of the 50's P Bass. Fender itself does not make one anymore, leaving the Squire as the only option. Squire makes better instruments than Fender only collectors and vintage only players think. They are the only ones who will notice the "Squire" logo and care. The wood on this is good. Neck is straight and feels good. The frets are finished and good. Tuners are nickel plate and fine. Bridge is nickel plate and fine, with fully adjustable saddles that are nickel plated. The finish is good–providing you like it thick which I do, and was how it was in the 50's I suppose. Sound is good, but I will change the pickup to a Seymour SCPB-3 quarter Pound and change the pots for sure, maybe to Fender Vintage. I will eventually change the nut to bone as well. The sound is good–but can be made more like I want it with those changes. I will practice and rehearse with this now, and likely gig with this after the changes. Squire instruments are so much better than the similar priced gear available when I started playing in bands, when a new Fender anything was a grand without a case, and a Gibson was unthinkable. The knockoff instruments we played then until we could afford a Fender or a Gibson often ran $225-$400 new, and honestly were not as good as this Squire is.CAA

I bought this bass an an inexpensive backup to my Fenders, but I expect to use it as more than just a backup, because it plays well and looks cool. This one had good fret dressing and a nicely-cut nut (some Squier CV basses don't have the nut slots cut seep enough, and they have sharp fret ends, and they buzz at about the 14th fret This one didn't have any of those problems). The Indian Laurel fretboard is darker than most and almost looks like rosewood. I did have to lightly oil it, though. The pickups and bridge were all set to factory specs. and the intonation was pretty close to dead-on. I did need to adjust the neck a bit. There was way too much relief. The only downside is that the truss rod nut is set really deep and my wrench could barely reach it. Time to buy a longer wrench, I guess. I swapped the white pickguard out with a mint green one. You can see that in the picture I uploaded. I think it really looks good with the sonic blue.Dave

I have been dreaming about one day owning a late 50s Precision bass for a long time now, and now my dream has come true in a way. When I saw this bass listed in your “flash sale” last weekend, I knew I HAD to have one! I have been hoping Squier would come out with a bass like this, and now my wish has been granted! When I received it today, I immediately tuned it up and plugged it in to my bass amp-and I was immediately transported to heaven! Sounds great,feels great, and plays like a dream come true! This Stingray from Sterling is a very pretty and well-finished slab of swamp ash in a natural finish. The neck and fingerboard are roasted maple. The neck is smooth enough for comfort and there's some nice visual texture to the fingerboard. Hardware is good quality and pots seem solid and smooth. Took a bit of effort to loosen the trussrod for a minor tweak, after which it moved smoothly. Bass came well set up for neck relief, string height and intonation. Really every sign of good care being taken. Sonically, it's got every bit of that classic Stingray bite and the preamp has a very wide range of adjustment. At the price I paid here (on sale) it's a really fine value. Only two complaints: (i) I had to do about an hour of filing down protruding fret ends, but then I got the bass on about the driest day in winter so the neck probably had contracted from the warmth and humidity in Indonesia; (ii) This thing is even heavier than my mighty Peavey T-40, a massive 11.25 lbs. I really enjoy it sitting down-standing up not so much. Gig bag is mid-quality.Mike L.

This bass is so smooth and sounds so nice. You can get a lot of sounds out of it. I know it's not "Made in America". It's made in Indonesia. As you may know, Indonesia is one of the world's largest producers of tree crops so they have a lot of wood!! We can certainly expect their to be some artisans with mad carpentry skills. Additionally, these bass guitars arrive in the U.S. and get processed through the factory in San Luis Obispo, CA. for final assembly and set-up. And, it has Sterling's name on it. It's a Sterling by Music Man and it's a StingRay!! This is a great bass guitar!! I have a 100W Fender Rumble Amp and this bass guitar sounds amazing! I've played bass for a few years now and I'm no expert. I have a long and rewarding road ahead after 40+ years of drumming. I'd been searching for a new bass after starting with a Yamaha [the RBX-170Y was a great beginner bass]. In my search, I always liked picking up Music Man basses. They were comfortable and sounded great. When I got to check out the Sterling by Music Man StingRay it was love at first sight. I saw the price drop at MF [$599] and went online to order. It came packaged in a very nice soft case. For a soft case, this is one of the best I've seen. It is well padded, durable and has several storage pockets. The bass itself: I love the natural wood look. It has such magnificent wood characteristics [see photo and the beautiful knot in the wood]. The roasted Maple is a beautiful compliment to the natural wood grain of the body. The neck is super comfortable and feels amazing! The entire neck is roasted Maple. It's not just a laminate or stain. The frets are medium, very smooth and super playable. It has a heavy duty bridge. The reviews you see online are all positive. Obviously, this isn't the "World's Greatest Bass" with none better…… but, you put Ernie Ball Cobalt flat wounds on this bass and she just hums and growls like a pro! The pickup is a Sterling by Music Man designed humbucker. I find it a great place for my thumb to rest. I think I'm going to offend Fender fans and I don't mean to. I suppose you mold a Fender into the guitar you want with fret work and adjustments. However, I've picked up a basic Fender P-Bass and Jazz Bass and my fretting hand felt like it was going through a cheese grater. The frets were so sharp and the neck did not feel as smooth as this bass. I'd rather have a Music Man!! [Or, Sterling by Music Man]. Listen….. I want a Fender American Professional II Jazz Bass too! Don't mean to knock Fender. They're the King of basses. I just want everyone, if possible, to try out this bass. It's basically a Ray34 with the natural Ash wood grain finish. I've been playing bass for 20+ years and always wanted an EB StingRay but could never justify the price. Well, I still can't justify the price, so I went with the Sterling version – and I have no regrets. It's beautiful, the neck is incredible, the tone is exactly what I wanted (and can be easily shaped with the 3-band EQ). The only sticking point for me is that it's heavy, but not a dealbreaker. The bass came with dirty pots, but I didn't know that was the issue and had contacted Sterling's support. As mentioned in another review, they were extremely slow to respond (multiple weeks). I ended up taking it to a local shop, who cleaned the pots at no charge. Overall I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again though. It's the perfect compromise if you want the classic StingRay sound without the hit on your wallet.CJ

I went from a new yamaha with active pickups to this jackson with passive pickups. I don't play much bass, so Literally I was looking for a cheap guitar to record with. It has a solid low end grunt but still maintains the mid bang "slap" as you might call it. No its not spotless, the wood is not colored along some of the seems and its not the prettiest style wise, but for someone who just wants an easy playing, solid sounding bass track, this is a great weapon.Jeremy

I give this bass 5 stars, not because it's comparable to a high end instrument, but because of the quality at this unbelievable price point. I was looking for a passive P-style bass that wouldn't break the bank; my expectations were that I would have to do some work to it (fret level, polish, sharp ends, etc.) However, I was very pleasantly surprised to find that none of those issues existed when it arrived, and it was even actually in tune! I lowered the action to my preference, as should be done with every instrument. The neck is extremely comfortable and fast. The plastic nut is cut quite well, bridge is more than adequate, tuners are sufficient and hold tune even with heavy handed attack. The real surprise though, was the strong sustained growling punch of the pickup! This bass actually sounds quite good! I wouldn't hesitate to gig with it: and it's an excellent backup or first bass, that you won't soon outgrow. For reference – I have been playing guitar for 32 years, bass for 25 years and have a MIM Fender Jazz V, and several Ibanez basses (mid grade – professional grade, 4, 5, & 6 string variations). This Jackson isn't in the same class as my others, but that doesn't really mean anything, because it still delivers exceptional quality and value. This was the first bass I bought myself and im very glad I did. I bought this bass around last December and have been in love ever since. I bought this bass mainly cause of the price tag but also because I was wanting a bass with humbuckers. The epiphone thunderbird had my eye but wasn't exactly in my budget at the time but then I came across this bass. Great price tag and a familiar (body) P bass shape. Fast forward to today and this bass still rocks. The body was put together nicely along with it's finish but you can tell where quality was sacrificed which was the neck. Not terrible or unplayable but you can tell it's a fairly cheap neck. Otherwise the tone, playability, and feel is amazing.Brandon F

Should you be in the market for a decent, inexpensive bass, you really should consider this model. Having just arrived home from jamming with six friends, three of whom (including myself) are gigging pros, I felt obligated to congratulate Yamaha Corp for creating such a marvelous bass for the price. I brought my favorite jamming bass–a Squier VM 70's jazz bass–to the jam yet ended up playing this TRBX for four hours. (The guy who owns the studio remarked that he just bought it (used), and he wanted me to try it out.) I'll admit that the controls for the pots are cheap plastic, but everything else about the bass was top notch. It's a passive bass, but the EQ is very responsive with a wide range of voicings from its P/J style pups. Beautifully finished neck, a fretboard with a generous slab of rosewood–it sure looked and felt like rosewood, despite what it's being called in the GC write-up–a really smooth fret-edge finish, solid body wood, but not too heavy. Tuners worked great, and the sunburst stain under the urethane finish was masterfully done. The studio owner bought the bass with flatwound strings, but the pups made them sound clear, with a nice degree of sustain. This TRBX will serve a bassist well as a back-up, but I wouldn't be surprised if some would use it as a main axe (maybe after ditching the plastic knobs for better-quality ones). btw, I had it input to a Tech-21 bass Sansamp (which I use all the time), and into a GK MB210-ii. After building myself an in home studio, I quickly realized the only thing i was missing was a bass. Swung over to a local store (sorry MF, i was in a rush!) and checked out their large selection. Being that i'm a drummer, I was looking for apparent quality as I didn't much know the specifics or traits that i should be mindful of. The price tag, finish, weight and balance of this thing caught my eye. I toyed around with it for a moment and purchased it about 15 minutes later. I would be lying if i said this was the most played piece in my studio – BUT whenever i do pick it up i am always impressed. Plugging it directly in to a preamp and hitting record with this thing is a dream. You can go from a very washy sound to some solid attack with the knobs. Contrary to one of the previous comments, it does have a volume knob. As i have developed my skills in the studio and on a guitar/bass I have never felt beyond or limited by this guitar. Exceptional piece, I can say with confidence that if bass was my main instrument, i would love to have this guitar as a backup. But for someone like me?…..perfect.Chris

I'm a guitar player who bought this to use for recording (and because I think bass is a cool instrument!). This is very playable, sounds great with my Spark Amp and through my Scarlett 2i2. Though this is low priced, it does not in any way feel like a compromise. I highly recommend it.SHANNON

Yamaha TRBX174EW is a great bass. It has a very balanced and versatile tone. I bought it with a pickups upgrade in mind after watching YouTube videos, but decided not to as soon as I played it. Looks great and sounds very nice.Alex

I'm really a 99% guitar player and only 1% bass player but I am completely satisfied with this bass for my purposes. I like to make guitar videos on you tube and honestly , I only even play the bass to add fullness to the sound. For not being a professional musician the price I paid for this bass is a great deal. ( This sight won't let me type in how much ?!?) I get exactly what I want out of it. I find it easier to play ( good action ) than my last similarly priced bass and it sounds good. If I could play like Geddy Lee or Steve Harris ( my 2 fav bass players ) maybe I'd spend more money. But this bass is plenty good enough to learn songs , practice on , or even play it in a local band. I've played in a few local/garage type bands and I would have no problem using or letting someone else use this bass for a show. Unless you are a professional I would definitely recommend this bass.scott b

The Ibanez GSR105EX Bass is a nice value bass. The neck was straight. The action was nice and low. The neck profile made it very comfortable to play. The passive pickup has quite a growl to it. It is so light. Mine weighed just over 6 pounds. Strings were the weak link on the bass, which you would expect on a bass at this price. They were really rough on the fingers, even for an experienced bass player. They were changed out immediately, and it greatly improved the sound, and they saved my fingers from further trauma. I enjoy playing it. I think it is a good starter bass for those who want to explore a 5 string without a big investment.Pete H.

1st-great price for what you get – no more or less. 2nd- Re: Mahogany Oil naming – this guitar hasn't ever been in the Zipcode of Mahogany but I guess the stain is Mahogany colored – sort of. Review: The bridge is fine and the intonation and action is fine. This guitar is like my old 'Cuda – the harder you drive it the better it gets. It shines on more aggressive stylings; tho I don't like slapping and popping this thing sounds excellent for that. I use this mainly for recording so as far as sound – the one giant 'bucker is fine as I run Bass thru EQ's and compressors anyway on my DAW. Having the low B, 5 extra notes is the key here for stoop-down bad-ass low-ness. For 2 bills it's too nice. •••• d:DDean

After doing a ton of research, I made the Rockbass Corvette my first bass purchase about 4 yrs ago. Love this bass. Especially for the price. At the time, I couldn't really appreciate the quality of this instrument, but now that I've been playing for a while and have had a chance to play around with multiple instruments, I have to say, this bass is wonderful. You can get plenty of great tones from it and it always maintains a beefy, meaty sound. It's lightweight. It's sexy. And can take some abuse. I always found it a little difficult to play near the bridge pickup (it's so tight down there, it's been hard to get a good sound), but I'm actually having mine adjusted professionally right now, so hopefully, when I get it back, things will be a little better. Either way, if you're on the fence about getting this bass, I'd suggest getting one. Definitely worth the money, in my humble opinion.WOOT

I went into the shop to look at other basses and picked this up whilst they were being prepared. It felt amazing straight away, excellent action, I didn't think I would like the very flat (compared to an Ibanez) fingerboard but within a couple of minutes it just felt right. The sound is outstanding, the massive MEC pickups give it real power and growl. The build quality is excellent, it is difficult to put objectively but you can tell the difference between the Pro and Rockbass series and the extra cost for the Pro is worth it. It comes with a User Kit (tools, cloth, straplocks) and a really good case (better than any non-hard/flight case I've seen on the market). I tried the other basses but kept on coming back to this. Nearly a month on and I am so pleased I bought this, it is lovely to look at but begs to be played (I am even allowed to keep it in the front room!). I know Warwick have been criticized in the past for quality and playability – definitely not the case now, I can't see me seriously looking at another bass for a good few years.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Overall: Hopefully this review helps? For starters, the bass is assembled out of Indonesia but don't let that scare you you away. Warwick lives up to its standards, and this afordable model is a true testament on what Warwick basses are all about. I purchased the natural model and the wood alone is amazing! It's got a nice weight to it and the neck is smaller in width compared to other basses. The humbucker pickups makes this bass a beast sound wise. Incredible for slap players. It has three knobs that control the pick ups to a sound you're comfortable and happy with. You can pull the knobs upward and push down so you have full control of the pickups. The bass is passive so no need to worry about purchasing a 9 volt battery. It also comes with the lock strap hardware and tools to for adjustment. You may want to adjust the bridge because the strings have a slight buzz, and don't forget to stretch out the strings that come with the bass. Overall, the bass is built with pride and it does not dissapoint! For those that can't afford the German models, this is definitely the best 2nd alternative for those who want a Warwick.Dino

I wasn't sure what to expect from the Mustang as my previous experiences with short scale basses had not been good. But everything about this has been fine. I feel that this bass is excellent value for money. I was surprised by the high quality of the workmanship and materials. Of course it needs a setup to one's preference but that is really only a matter of a tweak of the truss rod, lowering the action and setting intonation. All of this is detailed carefully in the owners manual to assist the diy player or take it to a local luthier for a basice setup. Lots of variation in tones and really fun to play, I'm really happy with it.Tom

I know that I will start an argument with this comment but I'm gonna say it anyway. Why lug around a full size bass guitar when the short scale bass sounds just as good and weighs a lot less. I tried a full size bass and to tell the truth I would have never been able to play a set with it. It was just too heavy for me. Maybe twenty years ago I may have been able to take the weight but not now. I am a guitar player mostly and the full size bass was too much. This bass is the perfect weight, the perfect look and quality, and sounds like a full size bass. It just does. I see a time where the 34 inch scale will wither away and be replaced with the shorter scale bass. It's inevitable. The full size bass has nothing to offer over the shorter scales than maybe cosmetic options. And that will change as time goes on a people realize the advantages of the shorter scale. As a disclaimer I will say that is my opinion. I am sure that full time bass players may have their own reasons for the full size bass.Danny

Overall: I am a female bassist who has been playing since 1988. I have had Fender, Gibson, Rickenbacker, Warmoth, Warwick, Ibanez, Traben, G&L, Spector, The Bass Collection, Axl, Schector Stiletto, and Gretsch bass guitars in the past. I prided playing a Precision bass. This was my first Yamaha and for the quality, price, professional gig bag, sound, everything this bass has it all. I seriously am ready to sell off some of my basses because all I need is this bass and a precision as a back up. Seriously the first time I picked up a bass and wow fireworks when off in my head, if I could double the wow factor stars below I would. I really cannot tell you how much I love this guitar. The bass has excellent tone. Was exactly what I expected. Was not happy about the loose tuning peg which buzzes from the vibration of the strings, but will find a way to make it stop. Fret buzz on the A and D string on the first fret of each one is an issue which leads me to believe that the nut is not properly fitted. Pickup buzz from the lower bridge pickup will mean that I will not be able to record with this bass. That being said, for practice and jamming purposes it will definitely be ok. Still despite these minor issues, love the tone of the bass.CroRoc462
