Schecter 7 String Guitar For Sale (2024 Update)

Honestly best guitar I've owned after seven years of guitar playing, it's empirical to me that i have found the perfect balance between comfort, sound, and affordability. I really enjoy that heavy bold tone it has to offer, finding that i can jump from some hard gallops to some melodic transitions really keeps my motivation flowing. While most guitars gave me a sense of limitations on what i can do. This guitar seems to offer more in terms of Benefits needed to grow. Techniques like Pull offs and hammer on's come naturally with the Sechecter Demon 7, making practicing a more enjoyable experience. I love the black finish the guitar comes with, i don't like how easy it smudges but that's a luxury problem to have. The trim Really pops in person which is nice to the eyes. I have had this Guitar for four days now and haven't stopped playing sense i got it. It was amazing pulling the guitar out of the box and plugging it in and playing without having to string or tune the guitar. The guitar itself was easy to string, the tuning pucks are smooth like butter and hold a tuning well. I didn't necessarily enjoy how close the strings are to the pickups Thankful that was an Easy fix due to the Bridge adjuster. All and all i'm thankful i made the choice to buy this guitar with very little research and experience dealing with this kind of guitar. By far the best Purchase i have made, and it's Wonderful knowing i started the year of right with an amazing investmentAnthony

It's a well-built and solid instrument. Even with a longer scale, still feels easily playable by a player who has only used six strings at 24-25.5" until now. My only complaint is with the electronics. The pickups sound great at low volume, but putting it through an amp at live volume settings reveals a ton of unwanted signal noise. Even with every string muted the pickup buzz at modest gain levels is prohibitive in a live environment. It may be suitable for recording at low volumes (where the guitar sounds great) but volume accentuates the pickup noise), but there's no way I could level against a drum kit's volume without being noisy enough to ruin a set. I don't have a noise gate, which might help, but either way I'd suggest upgrading the pups. Good guitar overall though.Fuggthisshib

Sound: The sound is absolutely great, I like metal and this is great for that.and it's great in any pickup settings, it goes from mild to wild with the flip of the toggle, has two styles of sustain, feedback, and a slower buildup for a different sustain, battery life is good when you turn the toggles off and disconnect the instrument cable, or it powers the EMG, Features: This for its cost has a set neck, materials are some of the best mahogany body, and if I remember the neck. Tuners work well, pickups are incredible.rosewood with bat inlays. It just looks good, and sounds better everything on this is great quality,I have always liked guitars that don't inlay the first fret, just me, but I know where the first fret is, it really throws me off. Ease of Use: This is a very easy to play guitar, even not using the big neck magnet it sounds great, the only learning curve was leaving it plugged in, when I would leave it in the stand, the floating tremolo had givin me a few problems but watching a few YouTube videos I got it down pretty fast, I listened to 1 gentlemen and he says cut all of the strings bad information there, but I got past that, bought a bunch of high E strings I would go for the tuners up top and broke a few, but, it's just remembering the fine tuners. Quality: I would have to say it's built better than guitars I own that don't have the set neck, mahogany is durable and imagine it being a collectors, item, that's 30 years, I don't see any problems with it lasting me forever, I won't sell trade. I will just play it and enjoy doing it… Value: Oh yes, I had seen one being played online, was made by another Co. And it was over 3,000.00, Schecter was giving them away. I jumped right on that once I saw it, I would never had the chance, except for you fine people at zZounds. A value yep!! Manufacturer Support: Haven't had to contact them for there problems The Wow Factor: Just looking at it makes my day, anyone that sees it admires it's mean look, the bats are very neat, looks better than grape vines, or other goofy inlays. I wouldn't pass it up because I did get to hear one that cost way more, and it didn't have the look. I love people's reaction when I activate the Sustainiac they can't put their finger on the big change in the sound.. Lots of fun Overall: I own 3 Schecter's and I have had some minor problems, that said I am partial to them, the Damien is always my first choice, it's got sound as long as that toggle is on no more getting up close to a 300 watt amp for my sustain, it works on a 20-watt practice amp. It's well made, solid, a little heavy, but so what it's a set neck,got an EMG pickup that's excellent in it's position,holds tuning well for me.The inlays are cool, it's art to me I hang it so I can admire the flat black, with the silver awesome. My only problem no paperwork there website was lacking anything, but once you figure out the tremolo good to go, I personally took of the top string locks still stays in tune, and I change tuning so much,it's better for me. Seems to be a lot of different turnings. I am about 1 1/2 hours good traffic, and have been thinking of checking out what they do there. Have to say a huge thanks to zZounds they are really good with helping a guy like me has bad credit, never a problem, I will never shop anywhere else..not that I could..Thanks to everyone that works there!!!Dean

This guitar is very awesome looking with the bat inlays , on top of it feeling great in your hands. For the price you truly Couldn't ask for a better guitar. This thing is loaded with custom pickups and Grover hardware and the emg pick ups sound awesome. It is my favorite guitar to play out of my collection. I am no professional but this thing makes me sound like one and is very easy to play. The Floyd rose is a super plus because it holds tune well and you can whammy out. All in all I would recommend this guitar to everybody but a part of me wishes I had the only one. If you don't have one your not living right, so do your self a favor. You will thank me later.Eric

I've got 3 Schecters if that tells you anything. I have an Apocalypse and a Silver mountain. I bought this for my lady. It's got a slightly thinner neck than the regular "Thin C", it's thinner but not narrower. It came "ready to play"…but to make it even better required a very slight neck adjustment, a couple of the saddles raised…and most importantly for me…the pickups WAY too close and it made it sound "busy" to me…too much going on…chaos. I lowered them to 1/16 treble and 1/8 bass…and they've really improved…I can hear individual notes in the chords where before it was a noisy mess. To the other reviewer wanting to change pickups…try lowering or raising them and see if it improves. This isn't a $1000+ guitar and it shows in the little details…the carve of the body…rounding the neck/frets…the finish…it's not up to the Apocalypse or Silver mountain…but it's a FINE guitar.Joe Rocker

Overall: I wanted to wait a while before I reviewed this instrument just to make sure the new guitar bias wore off first. The first thing I wanna say about this guitar is the tuning stability is crazy good, and I'm sure that's because of the black tusq nut. This guitar stays in tune better than some of the more expensive guitars I own and that really surprised me a lot. The tuners feel sturdy and the bridge is very easy to set up. The neck is super thin, and access to the higher frets is superb. I also really like how the inlays are done on this guitar. As I'm getting older it's harder for me to see where I'm at and having the inlays switch to the bottom of the fretboard after the 12th is super nice. I will say though that while I love the neck, it was also one of the only parts of the guitar that required some work on my part. Out of the box, I did have to level the frets a tiny bit to get the strings as low as I like them to be. It's a minor complaint since I like my strings VERY low, but it is worth mentioning especially since this guitar is around the price-point where these kinds of issues shouldn't be as expected. I'm not gonna cover too much on the sound of this guitar because you can make any guitar sound good with enough processing, but I'd say that the pickups in this guitar sound perfectly fine on their own and I have no plans of changing them out. The tone of the bridge pickup is beefier than you'd expect which you may or may not like. The neck pickup is honestly my favorite, it's very warm sounding and has none of that harsh sharpness that I personally can't stand. Overall the pickups are just comfortable to listen to, which makes them perfect for mixing. To top it all off, it's a very pretty-looking guitar. I got the Sky Burst one and I find myself still looking at it and admiring it. With ALL of that said though, I would say that this guitar best suits someone who is intermediate, but at the same time I think that more advanced players will love the playability if they're willing to put in some minor effort to take the guitar a bit further.Patty

Honestly, I think this guitar is pretty hard to beat for the price. I play a lot of heavier music, and this guitar puts out some crushing sounds. (You can also get some really nice clean tones out of it as well.) This is my first 7 string guitar, and I was a bit worried it wouldn't be super comfortable to jam on. But, it's very smooth and easy to play for both rhythm and lead stuff. Would definitely recommend it if looking for a great mid range guitar!Shane F

I played the omen 7 extreme in person at a guitar shop. There really isnt much of a difference besides look, and the wood of the neck. I bought the omen 7 because it was in my price range and I was purchasing my first 7 string. Needless to say, this guitar shreds! It came out of the box ready to play and holds its tunings like a champ! I play in B or drop A tuning alot and never have a problem with losing the tuning. Guitar is well constructed and I would recommend this to anyone. The only thing I would suggest is switching out the bridge pickup for maximum capacity. The Dimarzio crunch lab 7 is what I put in it and now this guitar plays like a 500-700 guitar. Buy this, you wont regret it! Shipped in less than a week too. My first 7 string was a Schecter Blackjack ATX Solo 7. So, that is my basis for comparison. I wanted a rock solid "beater" 7 that I could take to the beach, camping, etc. When I vacation, I want a guitar with me to practice. Being my first 7 was a Blackjack, I was prepared for a let down in quality when I purchased my Omen 7 (walnut). The let down never came. Don't get me wrong, an Omen is not a Blackjack. The Blackjack has a ton of quality points packed into it, but the Omen is built to the same design standard without the extras. I play each daily (I keep the Omen in my office and the Blackjack at home). They booth have great acoustic sustain. The action on both is exactly the same. The electronics on the Omen could use an upgrade, but for the price, they are rock solid. Of the two, the Omen is slightly lighter and because of the lower positioning of the through-body the Omen is shorter (while still the same 26.5 scale), so if fits a gig back I have for my 6 string (barely). It is the least expensive 7 string that is of great quality that is 26.5. If I were not fixated on the 26.5, ESP also makes solid 7's down to their consumer M17. Avoid the Schecter C-7 SGR, the necks are flat and buzz like crazy.richard

I've had this guitar for roughly 6 months, and I am absolutely blown away by it The locking but hold your strings in tune, for what feels like forever. And if they get out of tune, just use the bridge tuners. I am very pleased with the tone that both the bridge and neck pickups produce, I've never used an active pickup before. But this being my first, I am impressed. The 26.5" scale length is nice, it allows for some lower tunings while keeping the rich and dark tone. With the oem strings, I don't recommend tuning any lower than drop G, I've been experimenting in GCGCFAD, and I've ordered a little heavier strings (2-4 gauges thicker). It is pretty expensive, but the craftsmanship is extraordinary. If you're looking for a beautiful 7-string, with a floyd rose, then this is for youSmartAlec

Playable out of the box…but a slight neck tweaking, raising a few of the saddles, intonating the low E, and lowering the pickups made it VERY nice/playable. The neck it slightly thicker than my "thin" C Apocalypse neck…probably the paint. Out of the box it was OK but had a few slight buzzes and sounded "busy"…too much distortion going on…no definition, no individual note clarity with chords. Now…it's a beauty. Good sustain on all strings…all frets. It sounds "clearer" even when heavily distorted. It's worth the price. I have 3 Schecters now…I bought a Reaper for my lady.Joe Rocker

This is a fantastic 7 string for the price. First off, it looks more expensive than it is, and the satin finish is beautiful. More importantly though, it just feels right. The minute you pick it up and start chugging you feel at home. I was surprised how nice the pick ups are, too. This is without a doubt the best inexpensive 7 string. It costs a little more than a few of the others, but it is well worth it because the main reason for the price difference is the electronics are actually pretty good. It's perfect for what I got it for, unleashing low snarly growls great for any kind of heavy playing. I use a Line 6 Spider III and can get some surprisingly nice beefy tones out of this thing. Overall it looks and sounds like a more expensive guitar (sounds as good or better than my KH202) and feels great. Schecter makes some amazing guitars, including this one.JB

This is a fairly good guitar, and for the price it's definitely a great value. I can't find really anything wrong with the actual sound of the guitar. Sure the stock pickups are not the best in the world, but they are a good starting point, and with the right tweaking you can get some great sound from them. As far as build quality, the important things are taken care of. The fret ends an unnoticeable, and smooth across the entire neck. It did come set up from the factory with fairly low action, but in standard tuning and 1-step down it sounds great. It was well intonated and there is no fret buzz at all that I can tell. The tuners hold up well even after hours of playing, and unless I choose to change tunings there hasn't been any need to retune constantly like with some cheaper tuners on some lower end models. Really the only thing negative I would have to say so far is something that I feel is insignificant to warrant any removal of stars. I thoroughly examined every inch of the body for defects and there is only a small miniscule pinhole sized mark on the entire things, it literally looks like someone barely poked it with the tip of a pencil before it was painted, and you can only notice it holding the guitar completely sideways and look for it. The other thing that was off was that the tone switch was basically tightened backwards. The front position is the bridge and the back position is the neck. Fixing that would just be a matter of just untightening it and rotating it, but I have actually chose to just leave it be for the time being. The overall quality and has made those two things not matter in the slightest. I would definitely recommend this for a good budget friendly 7 string. It's really a good barebones guitar that focuses on the the value of components rather than just a flashy veneer that makes up the majority of the price. If you value playability and getting good bank for your buck, this is definitely the way to go.Charlie

This is a VERY solid 7 string. I've tried quite a few brands searching for the perfect intermediate 7 string, both active and passive electronics. So far, the best ones, by far, have been LTD and Schecter, with this one taking the cake (even over an $850 Ltd ec-407). First off, the guitar is beautiful, and the neck feels great. I usually don't like the super-strat body style, but this one has the top curves in all the right places. There is a bit of fret buzz when strummed hard on the low B, but that's to be expected and it's much more manageable than some of the others I tried. If it's a problem, I'd recommend a thicker gauge string set, I like ghs boomers in a heavy gauge (they eliminated fret buzz on a previously owned, less expensive LTD 7 string I owned) The pickups sound incredible, honestly. There are models of this same guitar with Duncan Designed pickups, and that model is slightly more expensive, but I assure you that you're not missing out if you get this one with Schecter Diamond active pickups instead. In fact… I think these sounded better in some applications! Fantastic gain, clarity, and definition, and perfect for metal, they will make your riffs sound brutal… they sound good clean too though! Overall the best bang for your buck 7 string I've tried yet. I've personally owned 5 different ones, but this and the now-discontinued Jackson slathx-m 3-7, which come stock with Seymour Duncan Sentient and Nazgul passive pickups, take the cake for the best I've played.Brian F

I was honestly quite skeptical about the idea of an eight string. A few of my buddies and I decided that, based on the type of music that we wanted to play, an eight string was the right answer. Not wanting to spend a ton on an eight string if I didn't like it, I found this model at a decent price. Needless to say, I was blown away by this guitar. Everything about it is above what I would expect for a guitar of this price point. The neck is very fast with a smooth finish, the action was set up just right, the intonation is spot on, and the correct gauge strings for the tuning we are in were already installed. I was also worried about the neck being much thicker than I would have liked, but Schecter did a phenomenal job with his neck. Another concern that I had was the electronics. In my experience, a guitar that has stock branded pickups has never really been that great. These pickups more than do the job. Eventually I can see switching them out for Fishman Fluence, but they will certainly do for now.Derek

As a Schecter user since 2002, I've been able to see their products improve from year to year. With this Hybrid Hellraiser, the build of this guitar is borderline flawless. A great combination of the SLS body style but the audio girth of their Hellraiser models. For a 7 string, it is about as light and fast as possible. Even though it's meant to handle the heaviest of metal, the neck is smooth enough to deal with a variety of styles. The stock locking tuners are solid as is my favorite EMG combination the 66/57 which provides all the goods. Headroom but gain, bite but warmth. To top it off, the looks of the guitar is as classy as possible. From whatever light is shining on it, the trans black is either a slight green, or a dark grey. So the personality of the guitar varies as much as what you choose to play on it. I've yet to own a bad Schecter. And this is the best one yet. It leaves all LTD's and Ibanez's in this price range in the dust.Druzovich

You do not have to spend $5,000 to achieve big boy vibe. The features on this guitar well exceed the price. I am pretty blown away with the impression it’s made and I just got it. After a good set up this guitar will gladly catch anything you thrown at it. You will definitely feel like a rock star with a Blackjack in your hands. The tone capability seems to be endless, I can’t really find an end to them. If you buy one of these, I promise you will be very happy that you did. Guitar dealers should be a little intimidated by this one because once you’ve got this one, you’re guitar buying fever will be quenched for quite awhile.Kevin

But i was interested in the Sustainiac pickup, so i took a chance and bought this model because i did not want the active EMG pick up , wanted active . Now this guitar is not cheap as you can see. So here it is open the box amazed at what i saw, stunning guitar, Came set up perfect slight tuning adjustment that was it , the intonation was right on..Lets talk neck ..thin 'C' with a 12”-16” Compound Radius ..Are you kidding ? Wow. Its probably the best i ever played compound radius along with a thin 'c' neck is like surf & turf…..Ebony fretboard ..super smooth tight grain , body and neck finish is flawless binding is perfect ,the pickups are real nice i am loving sustain and its real nice how they made it very adjustable . Only have a few days and i cannot put it down .sounds awesome , i play blues mostly and some rock and Santana, the sound is very clear and clean, i play through a Marshall dsl all tube, fender tube, and a Vox …On boost or other distortion it real kicks. .A…. I am very happy and would recommend this guitar to anyone regardless of the type of music you play , seems to cover a lot.. also its pretty light i would say around 7lb few oz's…it also has a set neck not a bolt on… Very impressed with this, only regret is i never bought one earlier..John

So the personality of the guitar varies as much as what you choose to play on it. I've yet to own a bad Schecter. And this is the best one yet. But i was interested in the Sustainiac pickup, so i took a chance and bought this model because i did not want the active EMG pick up , wanted active . Now this guitar is not cheap as you can see. So here it is open the box amazed at what i saw, stunning guitar, Came set up perfect slight tuning adjustment that was it , the intonation was right on..Lets talk neck ..thin 'C' with a 12”-16” Compound Radius ..Are you kidding ? Wow. Its probably the best i ever played compound radius along with a thin 'c' neck is like surf & turf…..Ebony fretboard ..super smooth tight grain , body and neck finish is flawless binding is perfect ,the pickups are real nice i am loving sustain and its real nice how they made it very adjustable . Only have a few days and i cannot put it down .sounds awesome , i play blues mostly and some rock and Santana, the sound is very clear and clean, i play through a Marshall dsl all tube, fender tube, and a Vox …On boost or other distortion it real kicks. .A…. I played the omen 7 extreme in person at a guitar shop. There really isnt much of a difference besides look, and the wood of the neck. I bought the omen 7 because it was in my price range and I was purchasing my first 7 string. Needless to say, this guitar shreds! It came out of the box ready to play and holds its tunings like a champ! I play in B or drop A tuning alot and never have a problem with losing the tuning. Guitar is well constructed and I would recommend this to anyone. The only thing I would suggest is switching out the bridge pickup for maximum capacity. The Dimarzio crunch lab 7 is what I put in it and now this guitar plays like a 500-700 guitar. Buy this, you wont regret it! Shipped in less than a week too. My first 7 string was a Schecter Blackjack ATX Solo 7. So, that is my basis for comparison. I wanted a rock solid "beater" 7 that I could take to the beach, camping, etc. When I vacation, I want a guitar with me to practice. Being my first 7 was a Blackjack, I was prepared for a let down in quality when I purchased my Omen 7 (walnut). The let down never came. Don't get me wrong, an Omen is not a Blackjack. The Blackjack has a ton of quality points packed into it, but the Omen is built to the same design standard without the extras. I play each daily (I keep the Omen in my office and the Blackjack at home). They booth have great acoustic sustain. The action on both is exactly the same. The electronics on the Omen could use an upgrade, but for the price, they are rock solid. Of the two, the Omen is slightly lighter and because of the lower positioning of the through-body the Omen is shorter (while still the same 26.5 scale), so if fits a gig back I have for my 6 string (barely). It is the least expensive 7 string that is of great quality that is 26.5. If I were not fixated on the 26.5, ESP also makes solid 7's down to their consumer M17. Avoid the Schecter C-7 SGR, the necks are flat and buzz like crazy.richard

As a Schecter user since 2002, I've been able to see their products improve from year to year. With this Hybrid Hellraiser, the build of this guitar is borderline flawless. A great combination of the SLS body style but the audio girth of their Hellraiser models. For a 7 string, it is about as light and fast as possible. Overall: This thing is built solid. My issues are with the pre-delivery stuff. I was figuring that there would be a quick inspection of it to make sure that everything was on the up and up. It got to me with one broken string, three of the other five were at full tension while the other two were relieved of tension. I've never set up a Floyd Rose, so I'm about to embark on an adventure with that. Aside from that, it sounds decent. I've never been a fan of EMG, and these definitely sound like their bottom end pickups. Very muddy, and hard to really get a tone that works for me. I'll be changing those out. It's a really great platform to put in the things that I want though, so no big loss there. The paint job is also really nice.Jacob

Overall: Let me start buy saying that I have played other Schecter's in this same price range that were very nice to play. Unfortunately this is not the case with this instrument. First I'd like to talk about the tremolo are, the pop in bar stinks, the retaining nut on the underside of the base plate would constantly loosen itself making the arm move anytime you would adjust your position which in turn made an horrific noise. the only way to fix this issue is to remove your strings and springs, then remove the tremolo from the cavity, now you have access to the retention nut, it's a giant process. Which brings us to the tremolo springs, terrible get rid of them. $629.99 and this guitar doesn't come with noiseless springs? could schecter not spend a few extra dollars to make this guitar even somewhat playable? Sound: Get a helix you'll never have to worry about any of this again. Features: No push/pull coil splitting, dinged "features" just a tad. Ease of Use: Dirts up nicely, hot pickups and the sustainiac is just so much fun. Very easy to get very nice trem effects with the feedback setting. Quality: Schecter is always 100% solid. Never seen junk from them. Some of the best QC in the business. Value: For a good fast guitar with stable tuning and a floating bridge, I'd recommend this one all day. The Wow Factor: Well I have many guitars, I saw it and had to have it, so yeah it's a very sharp guitar. Overall: Let me start by saying that I have 45 guitars now, and that's after getting rid of my junk systematically, so they're all pretty decent to fantastic at this point. I can't in good faith give a sub 1k guitar 5 stars, I just know too much what's out there at this point but just know that this is the one to get at this price point for sure. I was mostly an Ibanez guy for decades but started collecting more recently now that the kids have grown and moved out over the last couple years. My most expensive now is the JS2450 and it's incredible. My favorite of all is the AZ, that's the baseline. The first schecter I bought is the SLS Elite FR Evil twin, it is amazing and one of my main go-to's. Schecter builds a great guitar and gives you a great value, and most definitely improved my opinion of Indonesian guitars as well. I'd compare current quality out of there to Japan 15 years ago at this point. I then got the GT Banshee, it's sweet looking but didn't like it as much as I'd hoped, I still have it. Then got the Silver Mountain C1, great guitar also but still preferred the SLS Elite, however I've come to like it much more recently. The C7 Apocalypse "red reign" is the most comfortable neck of my 7's (Prestiges)So a friend asked me recently what I'd get for a shredder type guitar with a trem without spending a K or more. I advised that under a K I'd definitely go with schecter, a better value in that price range and the Edge II's and III's on Ibanez tend to be very frustrating, the "Hot Rod" version of the FR special definitely makes a difference whatever it is they invested in for upgrades. I bought a FR special directly from Floyd Rose site and it was ok but not great. The Schecters hold tune very well. Well so I got him a link and in viewing it it really started growing on me, and they had the Riviera blue as a "blem". I ALWAYS get the blem, believe me it's generally just a return from a blind order and they didn't bond with it or changed their mind. I've only had to send one Blem back for exchange out of about 10 times and it was an Evertune bridge someone had tried to mess with and stripped a screw making it difficult to get in order. I've never seen a mark on any of these guitars. Scratch and Dent is a different category, so again blem's are great for a deal. Anyway I ordered this guitar and I absolutely love it. Very sleek neck, ebony fretboard is killer, whole thing feels great in your hands, I ran 16th notes at 200bpm to a backing track right off the rip no problem, action is great. I have a Charvel San Dimas in the price range, THIS is better, I like it more. That's the only other guitar with a floating bridge I have under 1k at this point to compare to but I'll play this guitar probably more than quite a few of the more expensive ones. Overall: Photos don't really show the depth of color in the Crimson/Blue model. There is a lot of Purple as well. That aside, the playability is top notch. Notes sing with brightness and sustain. Electronics are quiet at low volume, have not really cranked it yet. Wide variety of tones (and levels) available at the flick of two switches. Basically two three way switches. One selects either or both pickups, the other setts the voicing for both pickups. Three basic voicings are Down: Passive Middle: Active Up: Split coil. As some stated, there is a bit of a learning curve with the electronics. You will be able to find the right sound for the situation once your are familiar. I have had three Schecters over the last 14 years now and this one is special! Definitely leans toward Metal but very versatile as well. Finally I have an instrument that leaves it up to me to be my best.Joel

So I was very on the fence about this guitar. I bought a Ibanez premium series 7 string but it just didn't fit my playing. I have a few 6 string Ibanez prestige guitars and I love them but I wanted something a bit different. I was a bit skeptical about a guitar approaching or in the price range of a J-Craft Ibanez but honestly I am more then pleasantly suprised by this instrument. Fit and finish are outstanding. I absolutely love these pickups and the tone selector setup. Pickups are very tight and clear even with drop tuning and high gain amps, no muddiness whatsoever. I do not really play music similar to Keith Merrow however after listening to demos of the guitar I knew the guitar would be great for whatever music I played. The brass tailpiece, hipshot, compensated nut, and neck thru give this thing an amazing clarity. The setup out of the box was outstanding! I am very picky about setup and I have to say they just did a great job-intonation, string action super low, no buzz.. I honestly couldn't find anything to complain about! Great guitar!Jody W.

Buying this product was nothing short of a disappointment. When I opened the box the first thing I noticed was the excessive glue residue around the nut, which was immediately complimented by the cut in the nut for the 7th string not being large enough. The next issue I noticed was there were scuffs all over the neck pick up in addition to the toggle switch and the push/pull pot felt like it was grinding whenever I would push or pull it. Additionally, the plastic tab attached to the top of the strings on the guitar said "Premium Ernie Ball strings" and the high E string snapped the first time I tuned the guitar. I think the most disappointing thing about this guitar is that it would not stay in tune to save its life. I tuned it 13 times in the first hour of playing it and I am not sure if this is just a reflection of the poor quality of Schecter locking tuners in general or if whoever let this guitar out of the factory decided that it didn't matter enough to fix. The fret filing was significantly sloppier than fret filing I've seen on Schecter guitars costing around $300. Needless to say this was beyond a terrible experience and I honestly can't believe that a company would charge so much for an instrument that was so significantly sub par not only compared to other guitars in its price range, but to other Schecter guitars that cost a third of the price. This is the first time I've spent this much money on a guitar and now it is clear to me that I should have gone with another brand.Daniel

The pickups are original Seymour Duncan. The look, feel and sound quality of this guitar can NOT be beat at this price point ! I own two of these, and I have never been disappointed with the craftsmanship of this product. It has deeper heavier tones rather than brighter tones. Made for Rock, heavy metal and such. The sound matches that of $2,000-$3,000 guitars and better. Don't get me wrong, this guitar is very versatile, and can play many different genres of music, but in particular the pickups are geared more to deeper, heavier tones. Love this guitar. I didn't keep this guitar, but only because I decided I'd rather have the hard tail. Everything on the guitar is top notch. The fretwork is incredible and the stainless steel frets are so smooth to play on. Pickups sounded great as well for blues and rock.Brandon
