Feels great on the fingers! I bought these strings with curiousity. I fell in love with these strings not only because of the feel but the sound that it produces. I love slapping on the bass and these strings really makes each attack more pronounced. But as with all strings, you have to try it yourself. I personally love these strings. Only drawback is a the price…it is very pricey, but I expect these strings to last me at least 6 months.
I have played bass professionally since the mid seventies, and always used Roto Sound until I bought a new Ibanez SR1200E that came with Elixir Nanoweb medium gauge strings. I was looking around for acoustic bass strings for my Sky Acoustic Electric bass. I was given long scale strings for a medium scale bass and so on. I finally found this set of Fender medium scale strings. Needless to say for the price of this set I was greatly surprised at how well this set sounded on my bass. I once used D'Addarios for practice and gigs, then tried the Ernie Ball kind: these have a deeper bottom while having a comparable midrange presence. They're great for rock and roll gigs. The highs have a nice snap to them. Nickel strings are easier on the fingertips than stainless steel, plus the Slinkys last longer than Rotosounds. Nice, lightweight strings with a good feel and excellent durability. The Slinky series give a great bright sound to the player, which is great for overall sound of the instrument. This lighter gauge I recommend for some of my beginner and/or younger students, especially while developing grip and finger strength. Postage from Artist was of course, super fast. Service is generally excellent, and while I have had some issues with their own brand products in the past, they've always played straight and fairly.

Everything good you've heard about these bass strings rings true. They sound terrific, are a joy to play, easy on your fingers, last a very long time plus enhance the tone and playability of just about any bass guitar you own. I am a definite fan of TI Flats and urge anyone who hasn't yet but is thinking about trying a set to do so. However, here's the not-so-good side of this brand of strings. They are expensive! Excessively so in my book and by the looks of things are continuing to rise in price. Does the cost justify the benefit? The only real and unique quality that TI Jazz Flats have over any other brand of bass flatwound strings I've played is, they are truly kind to your fingers. With plenty of give this is the only flat bass string I've used that after extended play don't hurt my fingers.. If it were only tone I was going after, and really wanted that vintage vibe on my Fender or other type of bass, I'd go with Fender Flats which to my ear sound a bit better overall and at about 1/4th the price are unbeatable. As with everything else, there are trade-offs. I've been playing for over 45 years and in that time have burned through a many a set of strings. TI Jazz Flats are a definite winner for those that are into the vintage side of bass guitar tone and want a string that is long lasting plus go easy on your chops. I recommend them for now but am keeping a watchful eye on their price. Enough Already!Rick
I really like the sound! One of a kind. Low mid/mid focussed, very musically sounding strings. They bark and cut trough a four piece band (one guitarist and a loud drummer) pretty good. But beware, theses are very flexible strings and if you are looking for stiff strings and really dig in…maybe you should skip these. Or, try to adept and change your right hand force of playing. And when you do… you’ll love them. They’re on my Fender Original 60’s P-bass (stock). Good luck!
Best flats i’ve ever purchased. These will be living on my bass for years to come! I have found that a lot of cheaper flatwounds tend to have an ugly, scoopy character in the midrange- whereas these guys are really well balanced. Clarity and tone across the board is great, E sings clear. I had to adjust my playing a little as the tension is pretty low at first, but as they’ve settled, they’ve firmed up a little and proven to be very comfortable. I use Hofner basses all the time and this is the first time I’ve used LaBella for Hofner strings. I’m now kicking myself for all the times I didn’t buy them before. They’re great ! They have a smooth feel, a lively deep solid sound,, a nice balance in string gauge so that the E string is not too light that it is “flubby” and the G string not so thin that it sounds weak, and the ends of the strings fit the smaller holes in the Hofner machine heads perfectly. I’d highly recommend these strings as an upgrade to the standard round wound strings found on a the newer Hofner HCT /contemporary and Icon model Basses. This string is made for the Hofner Violin Bass guitar, which is a MEDIUM scale guitar. Most people buy long strings and cut them down or short strings only to find the taper is before the nut on the played side. Both are problemmatic. This string, being the correct string, is a super easy install and gives the correct harmonics and intonation. The flatwound string also allows better setup and playability, which can be an issue with round wounds. I will never use any other string on a Hofner violin bass. It surprises me that Hofner sells these with round wound strings. First thing I do is replace them with these La Bella Flats.bobvarns

Tried these on my fretless acoustic bass and they make it sound lot like an upright double bass. I like the soft thump tone. Sometimes you need to be a bit understated and work with percussion rather than sound harsh and overwhelming playing bass-lead. These strings got the classic bass voice. Following a tip-off from Youtuber; 'Scott's Bass Lessons' I decided to give these a go. Apart from the seller's speedy delivery my biggest satisfaction comes from the sheer expansiveness of the sound available from these strings on my bass. They opened up all the 'head tones' I had been striving for along with the playing technique I had been attempting with regular flat wound strings. The internal metalwork combined with the warm muted effect and silky feel of the wound tape has brought a level of performance and enjoyment I previously only dreamed of. Now, with minimal effort (and little discomfort) I am able to bend notes and achieve a 'slap/picked' sound which adds greater depth and colour to the lines I have been wanting to master. Far from the dull 'thump' I had been expecting they spoke with 'zingy' twang like a Rick on full tone and with a crisp and deep bloom with tone full down. I have always used roundwound strings on my Thunderbird but I decided to give these a go as reviews said they are not 'muddy' sounding which is the usual complaint with flatwound strings. These are installed on a Gretsch short scale. They have a great smooth feel, tension with balanced volume and warm sound. They don't rattle with loose tension like most shortscale strings. I'm just sorry I didn't try the Rotosound Trubass decades ago. I finally ordered them from Strings and Beyond and l will be ordering more for my other basses. As far as Rotosounds claim to emulate an upright l will say they give you a rich warm sound usable in a lot of musical styles. When installing these strings you may have to widen the nut slots so the strings will not bind and allow them to sit correctly. Very, very comfortable strings to play. I have only had these strings on for about a week, so I cannot attest to their longevity. However, right out of the package, they have had an excellent upright like tone that is perfect for the types of roots music I like to play. I like to play with a slightly high action and these strings seem to be made for that. I have not experienced any of the hum sometimes associated with tapewound strings. My pickups are kind of bright, and these strings helped balance my tone with their darkness. Overall, I am very satisfied and would recommend them to anyone who likes to play country/blues/americana type music.Kris
This is my second set of Monel flats, but my first encounter with their short-scale set. I put them on my EB-0. As others have mentioned (and maybe this doesn't apply to your bass), the silk wrapping at the knob end extends over the place the string touches the bridge. It requires scraping part of the silk away so you can get a metal-touching metal. Again, this may not matter to you; the EB-0, however, produces a mellow tone already and anything that softens that tone (like the wrapping) makes it more difficult to tease even a little crunch out of the instrument. Not a big deal, but an unnecessary step for me to have to do this when it would be a simple matter to use less silk at the factory and give us ready to use strings out of the bag. Other than that, I like Monel strings — they are strong and reliable — and would buy them again to put on a standard scale bass.Offhis Rocker

I just tried the EXL160-5 set (have been using EXL160 for years, and always had to buy a 130 gauge for my low b) and I love them! I cannot even comfortably play on any other gauge of strings! This set holds a tune perfectly, even after lowering both the action AND string tention of my 5-string, my strings are still always in tune when I pick up my bass! These strings are very easy to break in, but still hold awesome tone for an amazingly long time! I will never use anything else but D'Addario!Never Alone

I have been a Stringjoy customer now for 4-5 years(I think?) and they are the best strings I’ve ever used on my electric guitars! Love the feel of them and the tone. You guys have an amazing thing going. I would love to try them on my resonator guitar(it’s a square-neck). Beard Guitars makes the strings I currently use on it. They’re a little peculiar as far as the gauge goes though. .18-.20-.29W-.36-.45-.56 but I love the tone of that gauge and like Ariel Posen, I like a fight from my strings. I almost ordered a custom set to try when I was ordering my previous sets of electric strings but didn’t see a .29W in bronze. Anyways, I’m very thankful I discovered you guys! I turned to Stringjoy because I wanted a 9-72 8-string set, for which there aren't many options ot there, unless you go for a custom set. I was tempted by the stellar reviews, so I decided to give these a go. Firstly, these are the clearest sounding strings I've ever tried. They're not excessively bright, but their articulation is amazing, which really helps that low F# string ring true. They are almost clear to a fault, because they emphasise every little bit of fret buzz and string rattle, so you have to watch your technique. Secondly, these are the longest lasting uncoated strings I've ever used. After a month of use, they have shown minimal aging. I don't play my 8-string every day, but still, this is impressive. Also, they don't rust, flake or turn black. They just gradually become duller, while still remaining playable. One bit of criticism I have is the tuning stability. These strings seem to need a certain amount of tension to stay in tune. They were fine on my 27" scale 8-string, but when I tried the equivalent set on my 25.5" scale 7-string, bending made them go out of tune very easily. I need to try the 10-60 set and see if it's any better. Overall, I'm very happy with this set for my 8-string, and I have already purchased more. Oh, and one more thing! Normally, whenever I use gauge 72 or higher, I have to partially unwrap the winding to fit the string into its tuning peg. With this set, the lowest string was somehow able to go in as it is. Better than expected. Solid tone. Easy to play. Just right. Not too bright, just clean and tight, as a well made set should sound. Lows still great, even at the slightly lighter gauge. Don't get me wrong, they can get plenty bright if you want that. Just that they didn't seem as extra bright as some kinds try to be because they can with all the "super nano ultra special coated infused …but still hand crafted somehow" type stuff. Was never happy with previous sets on my 5 string. With these, I was able to set up with slightly lower action. This alone is worth it on my instrument. Finally, it's the bass it should've always been. Waited way too long to find these. I hope they keep making them. Probably going to order a few extra sets and try to keep a few on hand. As others point out, I'm not sure there's another set with these gauges for 5 strings. To me these are just right in a lot of ways.Person
Overall: Don't pay any attention to the low price these are great strings. Have used Fender 7250's on all kinds of bass guitars they always sound great and feel good. Years of use have proved quality. I put them on my Jazz bass, my PJ, and my Squire, have used them on Samick, Music man, OLP, and Epiphone basses, all good.Scott
Been using the 8250-5M set for awhile. Wanted to try a lighter gauge. I get more guitar tones out of these. I was concerned I might overpower them since I'd used medium gauge for a couple of years. These are literally perfect on my Modern Player Jazz Bass V and 2 1993 Jazz Plus Vs. I bought the Modern Player new from Musiciansfriend. I think this light set is the set that it had on it. I use a pick, single and double thumb as well as two finger picking techniques. The E and B strings give a nice low end. The A, D and G strings have a growl and bright tone and respond well to picking or plucking. I'll be using these strings for some timegeorgesguitars

I got an Ibanez SR-755 5 string bass with these strings on them and was thoroughly disappointed with the sound. It was so bad that I was disappointed with my bass purchase until I changed to a different set of strings. I play slap style a LOT and these strings are just not suitable for that style. I am surprised Ibanez is using these as stock strings. The slap technique adds a lot of high and mid-high frequencies to your basslines, so its absolutely essential that the STRINGS sound punchy and add a lot of low end frequencies. The problem with these strings is that they're simply too bright. I felt like I was playing a guitar with very thick strings and not as though I was playing a high quality bass. When you pop, you can kinda get away or ignore the brightness of these strings because popping in general is bright, but when you slap these strings simply do not put out any sound whatsoever. It sounds so weak, without that punch that is required from a bass. I really don't care about the extra long life of these strings. Strings can be changed. The important thing for a musician is the sound. And for my style of playing and my tastes, these strings are very disappointing. I would highly recommend that you go to the local store and try out an Ibanez SR series bass (according to the manual all Ibanez SR basses use these strings as stock) to check the sound of these strings BEFORE buying them, especially considering the fact that they're so ridiculously over-priced.zildjianrocks
These strings are all I use on my 20+ basses, been using them since the 90s when they first came out. They seem pricey, but in the long run they are cheaper than uncoated strings because one set of Elixirs will outlast three or more sets of uncoated strings. I get close to a year out of each set. They sound like nickel roundwounds because they are, without the highest "clangy" metallic sound. Plus they feel so silky! I'm sold!elibbe
I have used Elixir strings on my 6 string acoustic guitars for years and love them. So being that bass is my first instrument I thought I would finally spend the extra money and try them out. I was really disappointed. First, they do last longer. That's all the good things I have to say. Onto the bad. The E string was dull, not bright at all. It sounds dull, quite, and is totally out of whack. Even after a few weeks the low E could not hold a steady note, adjusted intonation, tried different tunings for it like drop D, string produced a constant whah, alternating a bit sharp and then a bit flat. It should be noted that previous strings have never done this on my bass and the E was the exact same diameter as them. The E was dull and the other three were very bright, I like bright, but they dwarfed the E, almost muting it at higher volumes and during live performance. The other strings all seemed to have a buzz and rattle effect on my bass frets, I do run with a low action, but I have had heaveys on my bass that buzzed and rattled less than these strings. Over all they suck and I was very disappointed especially considering the price! Threw on a new set of the strings I had on before the Elixirs, everything was good again.Blacklotus

I had Ernie Ball Cobalts on my '78 Fender P-bass for over a year. I've never had flat wounds on any of my bass guitars in my 35 years of playing so I wanted to try a set. The Balls were gauges 100 to 45 so I chose GHS set 3025 (95 to 45) to compensate for the increased tension of flats. But I liked the idea of still having a 45 G-string. The lighter gauge flats still had increased tension but only slightly. I've read about giving these strings a "break-in" period but they sounded really good right out of the package. So far I've had them on about a month and I'm very happy with them. They feel and sound amazing. Nice full low end across all 4 strings. These are keepers for my P-bass.Hutch
I put these on an acoustic-electric bass in an attempt to get a warmer tone that may be closer to tapewound strings with the durability of flats. I would describe the finish on these as satin. I'm sure that there are others on the market that are more polished, but these are comfortable and attractive strings. The silks on these extra-light gauge are purple. With flats, you have more tension than your average round wounds, that is the reason I went with a lighter gauge as to not put extra tension on the neck. The sound is very warm with the E string being not much more than a thump. They seem to be well made and I've only had them on for a week or two, but enjoying them.Matt
Started playing electric bass back when flats were all there was. At that time Fender flats were the best and were used on so many 1960's recordings. They just stood out in the mix. I started using round wounds in 1972, but I always said at some time I'd again have a spare bass with flats. In 2019 I got my spare, for nostalgia, and put Fenders on, but their magic was gone, nowhere near the sound of that 60's punch. When I tried the GHS', there it was and I'm grateful. Finishing touch for fretless bass. The strings allow quick movement over the fretboard and continuous slides with a unique sound afforded by the nylon wrapping of the metal strings. Silky smooth sound but still plenty of bottom end. Not as trebly as round wound or half-round and easier on the fingers for sliding than nickel flat-wound. First time I have tried Fender strings and I am very impressed. Gauges are good too – 110 in a metal flat-wound was impossible for me to play comfortably but these are great.gre4961
I have used the previous Fender tape wound round wounds for years (7120s) on several basses. I mainly play fretless so having the round wound gets much more bite than typical flat wounds and the tape keeps the fret boards in great shape. I have an old Alembic fretless, a fretless Fender Precision A/E hollow body w/ a buffer pre-amp for the piezos and a fretted franken-p-bass made from various Fender parts and using active EMGs. All sound great. I mainly play through an Ampeg PF500 head and a Mark Bass 2X10 bottom and have had zero issues with these strings. They get a lot of crisp high end and a phenomenal bottom end possibly also due to the fact all three basses are active. Overall a great product and I would definitely recommend them. I usually change them every 6 months. The only thing negative I have found is that the tape kind of starts to get rough, especially on the fretted p-bass after 5-6 months, but I play a lot. I play in a jazz band as well as sitting in constantly w/ various blues players around St Louis so I have no idea how they would be for slap bass or other types of music. I do constantly get positive feedback as far as the sound of my rig. One of the best things about these strings is they are very quiet sliding on a fretless. I keep a couple extra sets around at all times but have never had one break.Steve
I wanted to try tapewounds as I was going for a McCartney-ish 60s-70s tone on my P-Bass. These are really nice. Smooth and easy on the fingers. Almost feels fretless. I would say they sound like a broken in set of roundwounds with a touch of flatwound tone. They also bend and slide nicely. It makes you want to play solos above the 12th fret. My only complaint, and it's not a defect in the strings in any way, is that you are not grounded. It's something I didn't think about. When you play regular strings you are grounding the bass by touching them. On the tapewound you are insulated from the metal, so if your bass has any buzz when you arent touching the strings, that buzz will still be there when you play with tapewounds.Chris
