I bought this back In 2018, hoping to boost my output tones. I have a Roland electric kit that I run through our PA. The difference is night and day. I don't have to raise the drums main volume or the PA's input level as much to achieve the full sounding drum tones I met get. My bassist even bought one for his rig and has been extremely happy with his pedal as well. It's worth every penny. My only minor complaint is the placement of the AC power input. It's directly alongside the cable input. It's a little crowded there. Placing it top center on back side would be a better location especially if using it in a pedal board. Otherwise, I'd have given it 5 stars.
This pedal is alright. I use it sidechained into my compressor so I can't really comment on the tone. But it is pretty flimsy. I can see it eventually breaking in some way or another. I wish they had maybe used a metal casing instead of plastic. Also there should have been some detents put into the sliders. But for the price I guess I can't complain too much. This EQ performs as advertised and is really quiet when inline working. The filters are centered exactly where they are supposed to be and function quite effectively. I tested this unit with my distortion analyzer and found it to be as good as a unit twice the cost. I installed it in a church PA system replacing an old EV unit. The church had told me that they always had noise with the old EQ from original installation. This one shows no signs of any added hiss. Great unit!! This equalizer is an unbeatable value. I addition to the 31 1/3 octave sliders there are low and high pass filters plus an output level control. You have your choice of XLR and 1/4 inch balanced inputs and outputs, plus there's even RCA connectors to interface with consumer gear. Plus, the thing is DEAD QUIET. Mine was installed in a church and if there was any hum or noise it would have been audible.GPOEN
The unit is being used to modify only the sub channel of a system. It works as advertised and is generally acceptable. The only issues are 1) the detent positions of the sliders are all below the "0" (flat") point on the front scale. Not important but makes reading final settings somewhat clumsy. 2) The unit reduces the sub's output level even when EQ is set to full output. Can be adjusted further at the sub itself or with the AVR sub output level but it doesn't seem that shouldn't be necessary. Again, not a serious problem but worth noting. Certainly worth its purchase price and does what was expected. Prompt delivery, reasonably good packaging, arrived without damage. Would recommend.Dennis

Bought this equalizer as an experiment to use between my behringer mini mixer and powered monitors. Monitors have no tone control, just volume and sounded a bit harsh in the mid frequencies. Was able to dial in a nice warm tone using this equalizer. No noise. No rack mounted eq to haul around. It was a win win. Perfect for sweetening up a small PA system. Will also use at some point on guitar and electric piano. Although the case is plastic and not metal, the device seems fairly solidly constructed. Have been using with a 9v battery with no issues. I've been playing guitar for several decades, mostly acoustic. I purchased this several weeks ago to add tone shaping through the effects loop of an Orange Micro Dark at home. The equalizer has been great for this application. The 7 sliders provide a near infinite amount of adjustment, allowing you to experiment and fine tune your tone. In addition, it is extremely quiet. The pedal feels heavy enough, but is made of (seemingly tough) plastic. The sliders are effective but I'm not convinced of their ruggedness through live gigs. This is my first Behringer product so have no first hand experience with long term reliability. I am very happy with this equalizer and for the price wonder why I hadn't added it long ago – it really is much more effective than few tone control knobs.C-ville Brent
This is a nice EQ pedal. It worked just fine and was 100% functional when I bought it new. The pedal is relatively quiet when pushing the front end of my Carvin low-gain amp. In the front of my Marshall however it was a little too noisy. The EQ parameters were quite usable and did a nice job shaping my tone. The gain function was less usable, again because of the added noise (hiss). This noise was apparent using the battery or a 9v adapter. The quality of the pedal is fine, but its 100% made of plastic. I had no usability problems with it, but you should be aware that it is in fact all plastic. Overall its worth 4 stars because for $25 its a great deal. However I spent a little more on a used MXR 10-band w a 18 volt power supply that is much more quiet when pushing my Marshall. If you want some EQ shaping and don't want to drop a lot of money, this pedal is probably your best bet. You have to spend about four times as much (or more) to get higher quality, and you have to decide whether that higher quality is worth four times the price.derald75

After long research and a round of tips from pros, I decided an EQ could help me refining the tones and finding the "sweet spot" for my rig. This unit has several advantages over the alternatives, mostly the number of frequency sliders and the 4 slot memory (+ the manual, which allows for 5 EQ setups to be reached quickly). It responds perfectly, to every slight change. The LCD screen shows the curve interactively, which is very helpful for the configuration. The main use I will initially have for it includes: tweaking the sound of humbuckers (to single coilish) an P90s. To play around, basically… As a booster, with a memory patch adjusted for that purpose. Lastly, it is not exclusive for guitar, as the the spectrum includes lower and higher cuts. So it is a good tool for recording other instruments as bass or piano, and I reckon It could be handy to experiment with voice recording as well.

I've had various Boss pedals over the course of 30 years and I have never, ever, not once had one that failed or malfunctioned. I wanted a cheaper alternative but what made me commit to this pedal, once again, was it's true bypass/buffer capabilities. Perhaps EQ is not the most exciting of pedals compared to other effects, but this really does make an enormous difference to your sound and help you get the best from the rest of your gear. Boost the mids to stand out from bass. Scoop the mids and boost bass/treble to sound like Metallica. Use the independent Level control as an overall volume boost (or limit – but who wants that?!) Extremely easy to set up and configure, in Boss's usual bullet-proof format. Highly recommended.Steve M.
Brilliant on-the-spot tone-shaping tool. Opens up virtually infinite sound possibilities, very handy when stacking overdrives with some or a lot of overlap in their tonal voicings. Also great for approximating the tones of completely different styles of pickups. Small adjustments tend to work best, a subtle nudge of the slider in the problematic frequency band is often all you need. Equally, you can throw that out and morph the tonal profile to something incredibly different. After my tuner it's hands-down the most indispensable pedal on my board. Allows me to shape the one tone control on the Pro Junior IV into even more harmonic/percussive/airy/creamy/bell-like territory. Been guitaring more or less 20 years now and i could probably count on one hand the amount of reviews I've been compelled to write, if that's an indicator of how game-changing the GE-7 has been to the fundamental way in which i dial in a tone.Mark

This item will be a present, is I haven't had a good chance to play with it yet. However, I'm really impressed by what I've seen/heard so far. It's great into the front of my amp (AC15) just for regular EQ type purposes and really allows you to sculpt various sounds with different guitars. It's also really good as a boost, just fattening single coils up nicely if you like that sort of thing. I'm addressing the review that said this pedal was noisy. OK, I can appreciate where he is coming from but here's the thing: the pedal is not noisy. I would suggest you do some work on your power supply? First off, do not (parallel) daisy chain your EFX pedals. This is no doubt what the problem is with this person's rig. You may not understand this or believe this but your 9V system can have a ground loop. Have you ever considered this before? I doubt many of you have. Here's the test for power supply noise: remove your single pedal from your chain and attach a single external 9V source. Plug in and turn on the EFX – does it produce self-noise? Or is it now MORE quieter than it was while on your pedal board? You have discovered your problem. Your 9V supply in your pedal board should be equally quiet. There are solutions out there but typically a power supply that can deliver isolated 9Vs to your pedals is the easy route. Spend some money here, talk to experts if you can find them.Rooster
i will try to add some info of value that i think is missing from the other reviews. 1st, in response to another reviewers complaint, my experience was this pedal is very quiet in my rigs. next i will mention a con. this MAY be a limitation of graphic EQ's period but as soon as you turn this pedal on, even with none of the levers moved, your tone changes. not the tiniest imperceptible amount either, it is something you will notice. as i said this MAY just be a limitation of graphic EQ pedals to begin with, i haven't fully put enough different GEQ pedals through their paces to know for sure. so don't think oh my tone is really good it just needs a tiny bit of sub-bass scooped out and it'll sound perfect. this pedal is not going to work like that. if you are using it at all, you are going to leave it on all the time. now with that said …. i find that the pedal IS very good as sculpting the sound, like others have mentioned. you may not get exactly what you had prior to turning the pedal on, but once you do start moving the levers around it is very easy to get your guitar/amp sounding very very good. you CAN cut the sub-bass out, but just realize that you are going to have to change other things too. you are doing a total tonal re-sculpt. the end result will sound very good and may give you pretty much the sound you desire but don't expect that you can just pull out (or add) a little gain from 1 band and your rig will sound exactly as it did before plus/minus the effect of that 1 band. there is 1 other con i think people need to know that hasn't been mentioned by other reviewers. i was a bit disappointed with the volume curve of the faders. even at the smallest possible setting (plus or minus of zero) the gain bump/cut is pretty significant. that was a real bummer for me. i want an EQ that is subtle near the 0 mark and the gain added/subtracted gets more and more significant the further up/down the fader you go. imho an EQ is more useful that way.nicky noodler

This box is terrific. My basses sound great through it and there is a wide range of tones available. The scrambler circuit is a real hayride. Im running an instrument, a mic and an iPod through it and it all works great. My cheap electric guitar even sounds worth keeping now. My issue is power. The battery is buried behind the back plate. You have to open the box to get to it. The box does not come with a power supply. Musicians Friend benignly neglects to tell you this. You should talk to MF for power supply suggestions.tomgray56
Overall: I recently picked up an inexpensive Bugera rig for live gigs, which was great "oomf" for the price, but it didn't quite have the tone or character I wanted. Very flat sound, but affordable! Enter the SCR-DI! I wanted something with some crunch built in, that also had DI out. But the headphone out and AUX in on this definitely peaked my interest, as its always nice to have after-hour practice options. I plugged it into my head, and as soon as I switched it on I was in tone heaven. Even with the EQ settings all set flat, this box gave my bass tone that color and chunk I was looking for. Then of course with the Ultra Hi/Lo settings there's even more flexibility on how round, snappy, or smooth you want. The scrambler sounds great. I prefer the drive and blend both set to 12-o'clock, just to give some crunch on the top end, that gets more dirty the harder you play. Cranked all the way is almost fuzz territory. The paint job makes it look plastic but it's a rugged all metal chassis so I'm sure this'll be part of my rig for a while. Overall I'm super pleased with this. Highly recommended if you're in need of a DI box or just looking for an all-in-one solution to make your rig sound more Ampeg-ish.Alexander
Sound: The pedal has a buffered sound. When not using the preamp, you'll need to use another pedal to boost volume levels. That said, I love the tone stack. The SVT sound really comes through. I really like the way my bass sounds through it. Can't really say if the tone stack "colors" the bass tone. For my style and my current bass set up in praise and worship (Yamaha TRBX305 with Aguilar Super Doubles and a Seymour Duncan STC-3P), I begin with my EQ set to noon. If I'm using a lot of finger style that day, I'll boost the mids to about 1 or 2 o clock, and sometimes the bass to about 1 o clock. For slap and funk tones, I like to set the bass and treble to 1 o clock. and mids at noon. Features: I love that I can use it as a practice amp. We went through some struggles recently and had to get rid of a fender halfstack and found myself with nothing to practice with. This pedal made practice possible. I'm not really a fan of the overdrive circuit, and currently have a love/hate relationship with it. The ultra-hi and lo settings are interesting. I don't use the ultra hi boost, but the ultra low I'll use with overdrive to help make up for any bottom end I lose. Sometimes I'll use it too if I need thick bass for something slow but epic. My only wish is that I could have slightly better EQ controls, specifically with the mids, maybe a parametric sweep, or even a switch with preset frequencies. Ease of Use: Very easy to use. Beware, if you put a battery into it, it will buffer your signal even if it's off. I really like that I can unscrew the back pack without the use of tools of any kinds. The rubber pads underneath are designed to also function as thumb screws, very easy to take off and replace, which makes replacing batteries on the fly a very simple task. Quality: The pedal feels heavy and tough, but I cannot yet speak on it's reliability although it hasn't failed yet. Value: It's expensive but worth it. The Wow Factor: No real wow factor. It is a nice solid pedal but nothing crazy or particularly special about it. Overall: I love this pedal. My purpose for purchasing this pedal was to improve my bass tone. I figured the best way was to look for something I could use to split my signal between the stage amp and the house system at my church. I'm not a fan of the stage rig we use, so this pedal allows me to bypass the rig. The best part was the added unexpected bonus of total ground noise elimination! For some reason, utilizing the XLR output from the amp head to the house resulted in ungodly amounts of noise. I now get a cleaner signal to the house and can better control my volume (the stage rig is very old and has sensitive volume controls).Christian

I bought the MXR 10-band EQ because I have one bass that sounds drastically different than my other basses. This has proved inconvenient for both live and recording applications. I used this device to shape the EQ curve adding just a little bit of low Mid's for warmth and removed some higher frequencies to get rid of some of the fret noise. It works perfectly for this application. I can leave it plugged into my signal chain and just kick it in when using the one specific bass. Very nice!Thomas
I have mxr's 7-band EQ pedal in my studio, and it's excellent. Its only shortcoming is its lack of a master volume fader, but that's not a problem in the studio. I thought I would try the 10-band version (that has gain and volume controls) for my live rig. The unit was disappointing. Sound quality was OK, not great. The high end lacked transparency, and there was no fader centered on the critical (for guitar) 100 Hz frequency. Dialing in tones was a tedious task, made worse by the blindingly bright LEDs on the faders. They are so bright you cannot read the frequency designations on the casing without disengaging the EQ function. Not a well-thought-out design in my view. I returned it to the store.Gordon the Pro
Ordered this along with several other pedals for a new board back in April. EQ was backordered until recently. I was very happy with the new pedalboard but wow, once I got this eq pedal added to the mix, I'm so much happier. Have been playing for 42 years and I am now wondering how I ever did without one of these. I'm glad I opted for the 10-band model because it affords more precise adjustments and tone sculpting for various rooms and guitars. Again, this is now an absolute must-have piece of gear. The EMG BTC circuit is a really good deal as far a quality is concerned. It's quick and easy to install and if there is no room for a muti-pot then this circuit is just for you. There is no mid control on this so if you are seeking more mid control, this circuit would not be for you. This boosts/cuts Bass/Treble only. Tenacious Is what I would describe on how to install the stacked pots. Once properly aligned, this is one of the quickest and easiest tone changers I have used. I highly recommend EMG products as they are still made in the USA…and in the Bay Area, readily available to anyone…not just luthiers and corporations and they still sound good.soundbassguy
I have been playing bass for almost 30 years. Since then, there has only been 4 basses I have owned that didn't have EMG pickups and preamp in them, and that is because EMG didn't make replacement pickups for them.(I didn't keep them for long.) After long research and a round of tips from pros, I decided an EQ could help me refining the tones and finding the "sweet spot" for my rig. This unit has several advantages over the alternatives, mostly the number of frequency sliders and the 4 slot memory (+ the manual, which allows for 5 EQ setups to be reached quickly). It responds perfectly, to every slight change. The LCD screen shows the curve interactively, which is very helpful for the configuration. The main use I will initially have for it includes: tweaking the sound of humbuckers (to single coilish) an P90s. To play around, basically… As a booster, with a memory patch adjusted for that purpose. Lastly, it is not exclusive for guitar, as the the spectrum includes lower and higher cuts. So it is a good tool for recording other instruments as bass or piano, and I reckon It could be handy to experiment with voice recording as well.
