Reviews:
The Luna Heartsong 12 string is a comfortable guitar to play. I'm replacing a Ovation 12 from 1974 that I bought new and enjoyed for many years but the neck finally gave up. The Luna body size is smaller than a dreadnaught but fits nicely in your lap. It has really nice upper and middle range but the lower range is a little weak unless you plug it up through an amp and boost it. Then it sounds much like the folk guitars of the 60's. I tuned it up to standard tune and the neck had a slight bend at the 7th fret and the action was high by the time you got up to the 12th fret. So I tuned it down a full step and it straightened right out and the action went back down to a good level for a 12 string. Just capo it up and you get good normal sound and action level. The wood is good throughout and the craftsmanship is more than adequate for the cost of the instrument. The volume is good for a smaller guitar body. It won't overpower a D-28 but I really didn't expect that. The sustain is good and harmonics chime nicely. In summary, it's a great guitar for the money I paid. I also have a Luna Vista Eagle and really enjoy the sound of Luna's. They won't put Martin out of business, but the impact on the bank account is proportionally less. I am a 50+ year picker and used to play in bands and at church, but now it's just around the house for fun and therapy. I'm happy with the value I got for the amount of money I paid.Warren
Perfect quality great sound awesome instrument.
Just about ideal if you can play with fingernails (from classical guitar study). Full featured and well-made of good materials. I got a barely damaged one and fixed it easily and did the setup. It is a nylong string guitar with electronics from Fishman to make it ready for any 'open mic night' or local gig. Do NOT assume a nylon string cannot play country or rock n' roll ballads. It can!

Reviews:
199.99 for a 12 string? Great price for this 12 string. I've been playing 12 strings for years. Have had Ovation, Guild, Takamine, Martin. Currently own a Takamine & Martin 12 strings. The reason why I bought this was for a 12 string to travel and take anywhere for practice. Satisfied with sound and action for this price. And definitely recommend for first 12 string and for travel. Only have one issue, 13th fret on high e string does not ring out for some reason.JAF
Sound: Very good sound and resonance for the price. I wanted to test out a 12 string without committing to an expensive price and was pleasantly shocked by how full the sound is on this model. If you're handy, a fresh bone saddle and nut complete this. I expected a lot less from the tuners, these are actually quite nice. The finish is very light on the guitar and it's another reason to keep it humidified. Twelve strings is a lot of pressure on the instrument so humidification is an important part of the upkeep. With that in mind, I also used a lighter set of strings but that's a personal choice as well. Features: At this price, I'm happy with all the materials. I don't know how they can offer a guitar of this quality at this price. Ease of Use: A basic setup I completed in 15 minutes had it ready to play. Quality: A year later and it's shown no issues. Keep it humidified, oil the fretboard at every string change and it's golden. Value: It's a steal. Manufacturer Support: I had no issues with the product and no reason to contact them. They offer free online courses with purchase that are beginners courses but if you're buying a budget guitar you may benefit from the courses. The Wow Factor: I always wanted to try out a 12 string but one thing I got out of this is that it's a great way to build up finger strength. Overall: You get what you pay for. The saddle and nut are cheap but adequate. I swapped out the saddle and nut myself for a decent bone replacement after a few months for only a few bucks. For most people buying at this price, having this done by someone will cost a fair chunk of the initial price paid for the guitar but let me stress that the saddle and nut are usable. I'm just fussy on that subject. The tuners aren't the greatest but hold tune well. The strings shipped were surprisingly good, I kept them on until I replaced the nut. There's a very light finish on the guitar and neck. I happen to like it that way. The mahogany body is pretty and the sound is surprisingly rich. I've had it about a year and the only caveat is one I'd tell anyone with an acoustic, keep it humidified. Kyser and others sell a simple cover for the soundhole with a sponge that works great with distilled water. For beginners, Luna offers free online courses.Kevin
The guitar had a small hole in the body where the wood meets together on the side. The neck was pulling away from the body, and it already had signs of cracking. There was some kind of markings on the back-maybe paint? that wouldn't come off. I now have to return it and ship it back- not sure if I'll get this again, as I'm worried I'll get a similar product. The guitar sounds great, better than I expected for this price range. Just wish I had picked it up from a store where you can inspect it first.Rex
3. Luna Wabi Sabi Dread Cutaway Acoustic/electric Guitar – 12 String
Product Details:
Luna guitars is particularly proud of the wabi sabi line of guitars and this newest entry into the line, the wabi sabi 12 sting. twelve-string guitars are distinguished by having twelve strings in six courses, which produces a richer, more ringing tone than a standard six-string guitar. 12 strings continue to grow in popularity, possibly as a byproduct of being increasingly featured in popular music of today. wabi sabi is a japanese philosophy that refers to the notion of embracing imperfection. characteristics of the wabi-sabi aesthetic include asymmetry, irregularity, simplicity, economy and appreciation of the organic nature of natural objects. they call this line "wabi-sabi" because the wood they use will have a small blemish – but it does not affect the sound. this makes each guitar ascetically different, while allowing them to offer a solid top guitar at a laminate guitar price – all while making more complete use of the natural resources. this instrument features a pre-amp with built in tuner. if you've been in the market for a high-quality, 12 string guitar the luna wabi sabi 12 string is a great choice.

Reviews:
I bought a Luna wabi Sabi folk in January 2022, after looking for a cheap Yamaha to keep at work. The Luna was a bit more expensive but it felt and sounded great and I liked that it had electronics and a tuner. After 3 weeks the frets grew sharp to a point where it became unplayable, slicing my index finger. I humidified and filed the frets down. Then frets 1 and 12 started to buzz. Looking down the fingerboard, I can see frets have begun to rise out of their slots. My local shop said the guitar was not worth the repair, understandable. I decided it was unplayable, so I raised the nut to use it for slide and Dobro playing but when I changed the strings, I noticed that all of the tuners had a lot of play, I tightened the ring nuts on 5 out of 6 tuners. I pulled it out of it's case this morning to see the top has cracked clean through, from the sound hole along where the top meets the fret board. It wasn't dropped or damaged and it lived in a humidified guitar room.
I own several vintage acoustics and high end guitars and I treated this guitar as I would any other instrument I own. Very poor quality that could be excused if it was a $100 guitar but it's not.Gregory Tellier
In the words of Mark Knopfler, "Loving guitars means you've got to love the cheap ones as well," and so, in that spirit, on the hunt for a cheap, fun acoustic to add to the collection, and with Musician's Friend reward points to spend, Wabi Sabi, the concept of finding beauty in imperfection just made this kinda irresistible. The whole point of this guitar I guess is that the solid spruce top is classified as "B-stock" thus making a solid top acoustic available in a price range where laminated tops are far and away the norm. But why are these solid spruce tops regarded as lesser? Apparently because, well, cosmetic imperfections. In other words the grain is irregularly spaced, and there are a couple of wavy, knotty patterns that have no impact on the guitar's sonic quality. But it's a solid spruce top nonetheless. Mahogany neck, very smooth and has a nice feel. Laminated mahogany sides and back. The fit and finish are actually very good. Satin finish, a bone nut. Nothing earth-shattering, but all very attractive and, best of all, straight out of the box, this guitar required very little effort to get dialed in. The intonation was spot on across the fret board, and the action was lovely, 2mm on the low E side and about 1.5mm on the high E side. Unlike many acoustics at this price point, playability is a non-issue. It's a joy to play. Tone-wise, this is basically a folk or orchestra model, and so it's simply not designed to project like a dreadnaught, but what it does offer is very good. I would describe its tone as warm, woody, with a rather mid-rangey voice, definitely not boomy at all on the low end, nor brash or harsh on the treble end, but nicely articulated and very well balanced across the fingerboard. The lone notable flaw was a slightly high 4th fret which caused some very minor buzzing at about four different touch points on the neck. Depending on your comfort level with such things as dressing a fret, this is either a big deal or not. For me, it's not a huge issue, but I buy inexpensive guitars with the idea that they will require at least some tweaking, and for me at least, this one required much less than most. I have only tested out the electronics briefly but was able to dial in very musical, highly usable tones with little effort through a cheap acoustic DI and amp with a touch of reverb. Overall, this guitar feels like a keeper. It's a player. It sounds good. The setup was far better than expected, it required very little effort to optimize and, unlike many similarly-priced guitars, it holds tune very nicely. I can't really say anything bad about this guitar.David
First of all, the Wabi Sabi Grand Concert Acoustic Electric Guitar is a cutaway. The photos on the Musician's Friend page shows the Wabi Sabi dreadnought (I have uploaded a photo of the guitar I received from MF and perhaps they will post the proper photos after reading this). The design around the sound hole, the color, neck and headstock are all the same as the dreadnought. That being said, this guitar exceeded my expectations right out of the box. It is solid, maybe a bit heavier than similar guitars in this size. Also, I would not know that the top is made from "B-grade" wood- the finish is tip-top and it feels good in hands. Appearances aside, this guitar plays comfortably and sounds as good or better than most solid tops I have played. The spruce is perhaps a bit brighter than my past acoustics (usually mahogany-topped) but it handles the low end like a dreadnought and strums with a full, rich sound. The neck is fast and smooth, the tuners are quality and the action, on arrival, was low without any detectable fret buzz. Plugged in, the guitar sounded balanced but overloaded my Behringer practice amp unless I kept the pre-amp leveIs lower than what I was used to (the equalizer on the preamp offers 4 level controls and volume). Perhaps pre-amp volume should be kept lower than similar acoustic-electrics but I will defer that one to more experienced opinions. In conclusion, this guitar is a steal for money and I look forward to practicing and playing out with it at an open mic.Andyboy Georgia

Reviews:
I always read as many reviews as I can before purchasing an instrument unseen. This particular guitar had mostly good reviews. I was trying to find a good 12 string for not a lot of money. A unicorn essentially. I had narrowed my search to Luna and Washburn. I decided on the Luna and it was a tremendous mistake. This guitar, or at least the one that I received is virtually unplayable. Tuned to pitch the bridge has a slight enough gap from the body of the top of the guitar that you can just slip a thin piece of paper under. Visible bowing of the top. It does however stay in tune but the action is quite high and you almost need a C-clamp to bar chord it. Very VERY tough to play up the neck. It is a beautiful guitar aesthetically but upon close inspection there are several small fibers or possible hair of some sort in the finish in a few places. All in all not a good choice. I would recommend looking elsewhere for a 12 string. I'm an experienced musician with over 48 years of professional and semi professional experience. I would definitely not purchase this instrument again. Fire wood kindling would be it's best use now.Jeff

This is the 2nd 12 string i have owned. The first was a D12-35 Brazilian 1970. After letting it sit 24 hrs tuned, intonation perfect. Low action Daddario acoustic bronze down to 10. Very easy playing. The quality of this guitar for the price! Don't hestiate to get this twelve string.

Great guitar! Look good sounds and it is loud unplugged and the Fishman is great! If I have one concern it is the open gear tuners! They are NOT Grover and the brand is unknown! Extremely hard to turn no mater how much the are loosened up! Even stringless they are very difficult to turn! Idea…change them out ASAP! Other than that it is everything I expected! Change the tuners and you are GTG!!Jerry
I hoped this would be a nice guitar at a good price. It kind of was , but it was alittle tinny sounding for me. It's not a really bad guitar for a beginner but if your looking for a better sound look else where. The build seems ok, it's solid but thin. I got the case with it and I think the case was better than the guitar. It's made by dean so i thought it wouldn't be too bad but…..?MusicBill

Reviews:
Been a drummer all my life and a studio producer over the last decade. I recently dove into learning guitar; electric, bass, acoustic, and classical. I wanted to explore the special sound you get from a 12 string. I have a Taylor 214 CE Dlx which sounds fantastic, so I base my acoustic ears off what I get from that guitar. I played everything I could get my hands on up to $1000. I was simply blown away with this Mitchell guitar's sound and playability. I have found that less expensive 12 strings can be pretty glassy sounding and typically lack low end. Not this guitar. It has a very pleasing airy sound that is warm and articulate. It is well balanced across all the frequencies to my ears. Most tops are sitka spruce, this is mahagony and seems to be what really helps set it apart. I had to ignore the "brand" name and just go with my ears and instinct The strings were broken in and it stays in tune very well. It was set up very nicely with low action and just easy to play and inspiring. The bridge was still fairly flat and not pulling up much at all, as can be typical with cheaper guitars that use young wood that still needs to dry out and settle. If it sounds, feels and plays good and inspires you to play more, than you can never go wrong with your choice. Sold…Drum Dood
I have tried this guitar in 2 Guitar Centers (Manchester, CT and New London, CT) when shopping for other reasons but I like to try the goods while I'm there. Point being, I keep going back to it. I've been thinking about adding a 12string to my arsenal. After trying other brands in higher price ranges I find myself enjoying the playability and sound more while in disbelief if its price point. As I read other people's reviews I have come to the conclusion that it's a must have. There is a sale right now on the thing so I'll be owning it within a couple hours. For practice, trying something new, playing out… I believe we have a winner. Nice job, Mitchell. P.s. I couldn't bring myself to add an official Con, honestly. If anything, the appearance could be a setback if one finds value in such a thing. I plan on throwing cool stickers on here from traveling to add rock n'roll character to it so to heck with image.Ian
This is my first 12 string after 36 yrs of playing. There are no issues to speak of with the guitar I received. Sounds and plays excellent. Looks are better in person. Honestly couldn't be more happy about this guitar. I mainly playing electric guitar, rock to metal, and not that big into acoustic. If you get one, I sincerely hope it's as nice as mine. Time will tell on how it stands up. For now, this guitar is a steal in my honest opinion. I don't write reviews but had to for this..Korey
7. Luna Vicki Genfan Signature Acoustic/electric Guitar Vg Sig
Product Details:
The vicki genfan signature features a solid sitka top with a laser-etched "om" henna design by renown henna artist, alex morgan. satin gold grover tuners, triple wood binding on the body, and rosewood back and sides grace this stunning instrument. – complementing luna's design effort for the vicki genfan model is the inclusion of a b-band preamp tuner, which maintains the intimate and natural acoustic tonal quality of this fine instrument. – vicki was drawn to luna's henna guitar since she attended the 2007 summer namm show. she had been playing the muse 12 string and luna artist trinity, but longed for a henna guitar of her dreams with all the bells and whistles that her particular type of playing requires. – vicki started her process by playing and testing dozens of guitars that gray burchette had built for other clients, and settled on a jumbo body which lends itself to the full tones she needs for her percussive style of playing. – the om symbol on the soundboard is significant to vicki as it represents the origin of all sounds; the primordial vibration, which has been her life's work to explore. luna commissioned alex morgan, the renowned uklaser-etched henna "om"top: solid spruce – back/sides: rosewood – neck: mahogany – fretboard: rosewood – preamp/tuner: b-band – scale: 25-1/2"nut width: 1-5/8"finish: gloss front – satin back and sides – case sold separately

This is one truly cool looking guitar, that plays very well and sounds great for the price. I was looking for something a bit different and this guitar delivers the goods. As with all inexpensive made in Korea guitars a few minor touch-ups were required to make it more playable. I replaced the nut with a tusk nut with slightly wider string spacing and lowered the nut as well. I then filled down a couple of buzzing frets and polished all the frets. Now the neck plays great. Topped it off with a set of .011 D'Addario strings.Nice guitar for little money. Also found a perfect Luna form-fit case on line because for some reason Musicians Friend does not sell a case especially made for this guitar.BGoldtone
A fun instrument to finger pick, strum and flat pick. Rich, warm and bright tone. A real treat to play.Methat'swho
I bought this for my wife after looking at lots of other small bodied guitars under a grand (MF won't let you write amounts in the review apparently). We checked out every other brand we could come across that was even worth checking out, at least (Marting, Taylor, Breedlove, Blueridge, Eastman and others). Nothing sounded as good except an Eastman that was well over a grand and I would have bought it but she didn't like the feel. Hearing about Luna Guitars, she decided to take a chance on buying one online without hearing or playing it. She's picky and undecisive usually, but as soon as she grabbed the Luna VG it fell right into place. We both played it and thought it played really well…good intonation with no additional set up needed. The sound is as good or better than anything else we tried under a grand. We hooked it up to an amp and the sound was clean as well as very easy to EQ. Controls are better than average and we both love the XLR output. All in all, she is very happy and I'm glad to see/hear her with a very cool looking guitar that she can play and even play standing with a strap…that's never happened before with the big dreadnoughts she's played before. Perfit fit for a small woman and doesn't sacrifice on sound.Drumwraith

Beautiful guitar. The photo of it doesn't do it justice. The coloring on the body is very rich and the details on it (butterfly and on the neck) are very rich. It also has a deep, warm tone to it. The built in tuner is a nice touch, as well as the built in EQ.GuitarloverNY
this guitar is more beautiful in person…pictures do not do it justice!!! the sound and quality is wonderful, and i couldn't be happier! the tuner works great, and i just purchased the matching travel guitar amplifier to go with it. the case that goes with it is also top-notch. recommend luna to anyone!!!ladygr8ful
This guitar is reasonably priced and sounds very rich! The design on the guitar is MUCH more aesthetically pleasing in person! The butterfly is made of a beautiful mother of pearl inlay. The wood grain also has a cool 3D effect. Sounds just as good as it looks! As must have for any acoustic guitar lover!!Real MN Girl

It's a beautiful guitar that has a wonderful, rich tone. Right out of the box, it required no setup, just tuning. Love the Fishman electronics as well. It sounds great in any setting. I'd put it up against Mid-level Martins and Taylors all day long. In short, a great guitar at an affordable price.gman1967
I've been playing guitar for 12 years and this is definitely the most rich, beautiful sounding guitar I've played in a long time. Not to mention it's equally as beautiful on the outside, I mean look at it. I was hesitant to buy it because it only had a few reviews on multiple different sights and about 1/3 of those were negative, but I have no regrets. If you're thinking about buying this, just do it! Definitely the best guitar I've ever purchased.Shawn shawn
Great sound , great Craftsman ship. Beautiful. Easy to play. Makes you feel good. Great instrument for the money.smi8818

Reviews:
GOOD: This is a medium thickness guitar, 20 fret neck, but it has very good bass. It does not sound like a big boomy Martin but it is richer than would be expected from the body size. Satin nickel non-name tuners look good and seem to hold tune. Fret edges are finished; neck is a medium to small C and is easy to play even for players with small hands. The output includes an XLR balanced jack along with a 1/4 inch unbalanced phone jack. The B-Band preamp is NOT the Fishman listed as included, but it sounds good; only has two band eq (no presence control). Strings were DiArdio. BAD: My new guitar had a chip on the back binding on the lower bout; whoever packed it KNEW it was chipped. WalMart had it listed on their www site as $380appx but charged me $470appx to my Amex Membership Awards account. The Dragon 'abalone/mother of pearl' is actually a clever DECAL; thankfully covered with the top clearcoat. The abalone around the soundhole also appears to be a plastic imitation, but its not covered by the clearcoat. There is no pickguard, so a $9 black pickguard from GuitarCenter is needed to prevent scratches below the soundhole. CONCLUSION: Altho the MSRP is $450-500, if I was buying this (not getting it with points) I would not pay more than $325-350. Again, it has a better than expected sound and unless you look real close it is a very attractive guitar.bikefreak
Visually, probably one of the most beautiful acoustic guitars I've ever seen and build quality is higher than other brands in the same price range. I really love what Luna does bringing visual art to guitars and this design is more masculine than most of their designs. Out of the box, this guitar is a little temperamental but can be easily and inexpensively modified to be great. The strings that ship with the guitar aren't low-quality, they're just poorly matched: D'addario EXP16 80/20 Bronze .12-.53 coated. Phosphor bronze resonates so much better with mahogany than 80/20 bronze: From chirpy and brassy to warm and buttery. Replace the plastic bridge saddle and nut with bone. A bone bridge saddle sends FAR clearer signals to the piezo pickup that the saddle rests directly on top of than the muted muddy signals coming through the plastic. Replace the plastic bridge pins with ebony bridge pins, ebony and pau ferro match very well together. Applying a fretboard treatment to the rosewood while the strings are off can really make the fret inlays pop visually and is good routine maintenance anyway. An afternoon of light and simple modifications to this guitar you'll have an instrument that looks, sounds, and plays like you paid thousands for it. I'm taking it to a professional luthier to have the truss rod adjusted and frets leveled perfectly and I would recommend that anyone also do this with any new guitar purchase and have it done annually to keep it in top playable form. Due to this model's unusual measurements, it can be hard to find an aftermarket gig bag or case. Not impossible. Things this guitar is really good for: -People with slender fingers- string spacing is smaller than more common larger guitars. -Flatpicking, crosspicking, and other precision-based styles that make use of the entire fretboard. Not good for: -Percussive style- the soundboard inlays mute percussive hits. -Flamenco style- very aggressive and uptempo strumming can sound muddy.G-Dub
Lets start from what you first see:Appereance: Overall great apperance, great glossy finishes, but there were some blemishes with the finishes and bindings. The major graphic was flawless, but the bindings around the guitar were 50% no existance b/c the company just painted overthem. And the tuners were all scratched up as well. Not the best quality. The joint were the neck is set was also REALLY sloppy. But those are something I can live with and I am sure not all the guitars turned out like mine. I got mine discouted for the blemsSound/tone: Great sound and tone. For such a small gutiar, it sounds perfect. I got this guitar because it was small, like my Gibson SG, and the size does not affect how amazing this sounds at all. Electronics: The tuner and all the electronicswork fine. They seem to be a great quality. Price/Overall: Like I said, with the blemishes and coupon I had, I got mine for 300 even with tax. So my value was great. A big draw back to this guitar is the size, impossible to find a case that fits it. But, the design, sound, and graphic is amazing. Don't worry about the blems, because I am sure the company will help you out there. My advice, if your getting a discount/coupon, go for it!Powerage

Reviews:
I bought this guitar “hoping” it was going to be my main guitar for gigging out. After the first gig with it playing 4 hours….it failed the test. Wouldn’t stay in tune……keys very stiff….overall plugged in sound mediocre at best. Next day changed the strings….plugged it up to get the feeling of the new strings….electronics breaking in and out…tuner stopped working….I boxed it up and sent It back and bought an Epiphone EJ 200. For a $100 more the Epi Jumbo is almost a flawless guitar not close to flea market junk like the Luna. Had high hopes for the Luna because it is such a looker…..was very disappointed. Will not buy another Luna…but I will buy another Epiphone
I don't often write reviews but I saw that this guitar didn't have any and felt obligated to. I've owned this guitar for about 6 months now and it's pretty much the only acoustic I pick up anymore. I have about a dozen acoustic guitars of varying prices, a couple twice the price of the Luna, and it is by far my favorite of the bunch to play and my first jumbo. Definitely a good strummer, has nice sharp highs and good bass tones too. Pretty even sound distribution and it's nice and full. Projects nice and is plenty loud for a living room or small venue. The finish looks even better in person and it's a very sturdy well built instrument. I wish I would have found it earlier.Eli
This guitar plays and sounds great…But the frets. Oh my. I am not sure if I got one that just didn't get inspected well bit on both sides of the neck the frets all the way up and down feel like fish hook barbs and have torn my fingers all up. Contacted Dean/Luna at my shipping cost have issued an RMA. I will update if the replacement is the same. I sure hope not because I really like everything else about this guitar.Ryan
12. Epiphone Dr-212 12-String Acoustic Guitar Natural
Product Details:
Mahogany body select spruce top 25.5 scale epiphone dr-212 12-string dreadnought acoustic guitar, natural. the dr-212 is a true 12-string acoustic guitar with the big sound and fine engineering you expect from epiphone. the dr-212 is not just a dreadnought with 6 extra strings. epiphone designed the dr-212 to take the stress of extra strings and not just support the spruce top but provide the proper bracing so what you hear is a balanced, cutting, and attention-getting tone. the 12-string dreadnought has often been thought of as the classic-go to guitar for blues, folk, rock, country, and everything in-between. epiphone know you want your 12-string acoustic guitar tone to be distinctive and for your instrument to not come unglued. a lot of 12-string guitar makers expect you to be satisfied with an ok sound hoping that the novelty of having a 12-string will detract from the fact it sounds thin.

Reviews:
I ordered this instrument as I was curious as to how I'd get along with 12 strings, and to see if it would be worth future investment. I've ordered and played an Epiphone EJ-200 before and was surprised by the brilliant quality I was getting for such a low cost, so on this occasion I followed Epiphone again for my foray into 12 string playing. The instrument is well crafted for the price point with only a few small QC issues slipping through, but nothing I can't live with. I was hoping for a larger sound as the small dreadnought body doesn't quite articulate as well as a bigger instrument would. It's got that jangle sound you want, although it feels like it's a little suppressed with the mahogany build and body shape & size. That being said, the instrument handles very well, and for me it was an easy adaption to play with the much thicker and wider neck. It holds tuning well and was set up pretty nicely – I didn't have to make any adjustments out of the box. For a first 12 string I'd recommend this above most others at the price point.
This is my Long Term Review. I have had this guitar for a bit over two years now and can give a more complete picture of it. First, the good. This is a very well made guitar. Under the pros, you will notice I mentioned Good Construction. This is particularly important in a 12 string. The biggest issue with all 12's is that they tend to come apart very quickly. You will have bowing, warping, separation of glueing, etc. All this is because of the tremendous extra pressure 12's suffer. After 2+ years, this guitar is still solid as a rock, and I leave it strung all the time. So I would say construction and bracing are very good on this instrument. Along with this is the fact that it Stays In Tune. This is another major issue with all 12's. Again, that extra force tends to make them go out of tune quickly. This one holds tune very well, and that is important as tuning a 12 takes some time. As for sound, I would say Not too Bad overall, and Really Good for an budget level guitar. It is a little thin for my taste, but there are ways around that. First, throw on a set of decent strings. I prefer Martin Marquise on mine, but personal choice. Second, I like to play through an acoustic amp, and I put a Seymour Ducan Woody on mine. When adjusted correctly, I can get a really decent, full bass sound, lots of body and still keep a nice jangle expected from a 12. Will it sound like a Martin or Gibson, no, but it gives a really nice sound for such a low price. As for the negatives, very few. First, keep in mind when Epiphone says "Select Spruce Top," they really mean laminated, not solid. But I suppose there varying qualities of laminated woods as well, and this one is great – really good resonance and sustain. It could maybe do with a better set of tuners, but as said before, it holds tune exceptionally well. Overall, for the price, Epiphone makes a really nice and playable guitar. Now am just praying they come out with a Masterbilt version of it.kdw
As usual with AMS, my order process was very easy,. The order arrived exactly when it was supposed to. However that’s when it all went South….! Exited to see and play my new 12 string, I unboxed it’s and sat down to play it. There was a single string in tune, not a one. A first I might add from AMS. I spent the rest of the day attempting to tune the guitar, although I never did. The tuners were difficult to turn, as if there was a bind of some type. I would get the note close only to have it go flat or sharp. I never was able to get it right. I called a friend of mine who’s been playing over 50 years and he was unable to get it in tune as well. Unfortunately I did return it to AMS, without issue. I must add, I have 2 other Epiphone guitar, electric and acoustic and they both came out of the box nearly perfect. I have never had a negative issue with AMS, and even the call to Customer Service was very positive and the agent could not have been nicer and even apologetic. I’m guessing this was just a lemon, but for now I’m going to do a little more research before I decide which 12 string I order, at this particular price point.

PROS: audacious, attention-getting appearance. Great action even on 12 th fret…on a 12 string! Sounds great plugged in. Light weight for size. Good price point. CON: mushy tuning gears. Want stay in tune, as with almost all 12 strings. Good luck finding a case which fits due to enormous headstock. Thin sound strictly acoustic.Rich
My buddy has a Fine Guild 512. This compares well to that, at a fraction of the cost. It sounds like an orchestra. As I learn to utilize it's capabilities I get new ideas. Reworking songs I used to play on 6 strings yields interesting new arrangements. Have not had annoying tuning issues as with other mid-range 12s I have tried.Steve
I have several 12 strings. The Gretsch is quickly becoming a my favorite. The action is superb. Has a "chunkier" feeling neck like by old B25-12 but action like my Rick 360. Not real loud when unplugged but loud enough. Plug it in and the Fishman takes care of the rest. Full bodied sound, very rich. And the flash of the guitar definitely gets noticed. It's great and I am very happy with my purchase.Mr 12 String

Received this guitar in perfect condition…made my daughter the perfect 16th birthday gift!!coondog5671
Love it! Beautifully crafted and wonderful sounds.Kay
This is a parlor size guitar. In other words, it is smaller than a concert grand. This makes it a great beginning guitar for a teen, or a for a travel size practice guitar in general for anyone. This particular guitar was never set up, thus the nut is very high, and thus, so is the action. Any guitar straight out of the box needs to be taken to a luthier and properly set up. The reason the nut (and sometimes the bridge) are so high is because it is easier to cut them down than build them up or replace them. So, all guitar companies tend to do this as a matter of course. Some people want the higher action; like, slide players. But if you are strictly finger style, then best to have the nut, and if needed, the bridge taken down to lower the action and make it easier on the fingers. Another trick to help the fingers is to lower the tuning by 1/2 to 1 whole step. This will slacken the strings and they won't bite as much. This particular model of Luna guitar is one from their beautiful "Flora" collection. If nothing else, it looks great on the wall!vannerhorses

Sound: What more do you want at this price point with free shipping. Well built, sounds good.Fishman MX electronics, already installed heel joint strap button, Tusq saddle and nut and bridge pins. Overall: Nice guitar. I can easily tell the difference between this model which I just bought, here, from a USA made one: then again one could buy a few of these ones for the starting price of a new USA made Martin 12 string.Very nice gig bag. Well constructed. Fishman MX electronics with the batter door where it should be at the output jack plate.Plek'd at the Martin factory, but I am going to have my tech adjust the action, not bad just a little higher than I like.
First off ! I highly recommend this 12 string to everyone! i have now owned this guitar for almost a year now. Before I bought this Martin dx2e I shopped around and went to a bunch of different guitar stores to compare different brands and see the difference. I was after a really good full sound with no string noise , I definitely did not want a lament top and real wood sound that would appreciate more and more in time. I compared a taylor, and it was great but the price was a little crazy, for what was afforded I didn’t care what brand of guitar i was going to choose, all that mattered to me was the tone and feel , I tried a guild 12 string and again it was really nice as well but I found it had a lot of mid high tones . Again I was looking for a certain sound that would cater to my own sound, style and feel . After shopping around I chooses this Martin DX2e for its great natural sound and the feel , the price was definitely unbeatable and I still can’t believe how good this guitar sounds! Amazing guitar! The next big factor was now where to buy it , Sam ash? Guitar center ? I found American musical “AMS” was amazing to purchase this Martin from, it showed up in just 2/3 days protected and the customer service was unbelievable! I love this guitar and love AMS and again I highly recommend this guitar you will not be disappointed! Thank you AMS for making my decision easy and effortless !
I recently purchased my Martin DX2E 12 string from AMS and I love it. I purchased my Martin GCE16 about a year ago from AMS and I have never heard of them before this. I tried to order the same guitar from Guitar Center and it come in damaged, so I returned it. I then tried to order the same guitar from Musicians friend. The online site said it was in stock. I even paid for 2 day delivery, but it never showed up. After 2 weeks I called and they told me the guitar was out of stock. They also told me they should of called or emailed but they don't know why they didn't.(TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM MUSICIANS FRIEND).This is when I found AMS. I called AMS and they were VERY helpful and easy to deal with. I ordered my VERY FIRST MARTIN GUITAR from AMS and have been very pleased. I have since ordered my second Martin guitar from AMS and will only use AMS for my online purchases from here on out. Thank You for all of the great service and merchandise.Bobby

Reviews:
This guitar has a warm bright tone easy action and is beautiful in design. This guitar is easily a favorite to me as it allows me to speak even when Im not sure what to say. Its design makes ecen an unseasoned guitarist sound like a pro. You definately will not regret purchasing this axe.tarquill61
I needed a low action 12 string acoustic guitar that wasn't the size of a battleship. Something I could practice on at home without annoying half the neighborhood. An 'acoustic' guitar that would give me stonkloads of volume plugged in but with absolutely zero feed back even when I'm standing right in front of the monitor. It also had to sound like an acoustic guitar at any volume level. Turns out that's exactly what I got. Easy…..now I need to get a case…turns out not so easy here in the UK. Why don't dealers buy in the correct case when they order the guitar? Or is this just an ESP thing? Anyway, when a guitar is this good it is not so easy to get annoyed.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
From the minute I unpacked this guitar, I cannot put it down. The neck feels just like my PRS SE 24 Custom. It is a bit wider to accommodate the 12 strings. The setup, from American Musical Supply was spot on. The Fishman electronics are great and match up to the Loudbox Artist Pro 120 w I have been playing it through. This guitar is designed to be plugged in. The thinness of the body, 2" makes it very comfortable to play, but, it doesn't have any appreciable sound projection capabilities. It is like strumming a 12 string solid body electric. Right after the new years. I will be picking up the TL-6 6 string and will retire my Ovation Elite TX from acoustic gigs. The workmanship and quality at this price cannot be beat. Buy it and enjoy it, you won't be sorry!
