it arrived yesterday to romania, from music store germany (thanks for handling it with so much care!) and i laid my hands for the first time on this loveable tiny beauty. it looks amazing and feels amazing, in every aspect. excellent playability all thourghout the neck, right out of the box… i wanted a travel buddy — small, sturdy, light and playable… and here she is. there are a lot reviews on the net, i will let here my own subjective opinion, after one day of having it (shipped from music store, germany). – i'm a tall guy (6 feet 3 / 190 cm), but the smallness of martin lx1 is not a hindrance in playing. my wife is a mongolian petite, so perhaps I'm used with handling small beauties 🙂 – i have big hands, but not thick fingers. if i stretch my fingers i can cover this guitar's neck from the net to the 10th fret (from pinky to thumb stretched out) — so you can have a clue; however, i feel comfortable playing all over the neck, even past the 14th fret. so no problem with that… and the transition back and forth to my normal-sized acoustic fender pm1 or to my electric squier affinity tele feels smooth, adjusting in no time. – the guitar is neck heavy, but it doesn't bother me at all; you see, it sits comfortably in my lap. – well, of course, the sound is not of a normal-sized guitar — one has to live with that. it is somehow a boxy sound, but martin has a lot of character, so i'm quite pleased with the sound. the guitar seems to suit better for fingerpicking or strumming with bare fingers; when i use my pick it's too noisy, especially the d string is sooo loud, taking over the other strings. in know, it's a new guitar, freshly out of its box, so perhaps it needs time to shape its sound. if this will not happen (due to hpl back and sides) i will still be pleased, the sound is good enough and i can work my way around. – the machine heads are of excellent quality (like every aspect of this guitar, actually): i tuned the guitar yesterday, after taking it out of the box, then forgot about it… summing up: craftmanship — state of the art sound — boxy, you may like it or not (martin has character, a distinct voice, above all) optic — beautiful as it gets, simply perfect price/performance — well, i would have loved to pay less… in the states, it was 399 USD until recently, now it's more expensive and perhaps the price will rise as well in the current covid situation; so buy know, don't postpone if you consider having one.

I already had Taylor guitars, including the 12e, but I wanted to have the 10e as well, so I ordered it. The guitar arrived very quickly and perfectly packaged. I even liked the guitar setup, it played right out of the box. The only complaint is the uneven color on the fingerboard in the form of a line, lighter in color, 20 cm long. However, I don't want to go through the hassle of returning and waiting for a new guitar.

Overall: We bought two of the Mikro guitars. A GRGM21 and a P.Gilbert Model. We expected at this price that some changes would be needed; and we were right. The nut has to be replaced. The original has so much wrong with it that I really don't want to type a paragraph explaining. It's made of bad material and you will never get to tune without replacing it. Consider the nut a "model" and there should be instructions with the guitar saying to replace it soon as poosible. There's gonna be some buzz from some high frets but that was an easy fix. There a a couple tricks to getting the intonation right but it can be done. (hint: move the saddles all the way forward) Hope this helped.

A decent guitar with a good sound for a small price. We were looking for a guitar to start learning to play the guitar for a 6 year old child. This one is the perfect match.

Ich hatte diese Gitarre aus Neugierde erworben, zum Vergleich mit einer etwas teureren Ortega, einer R131. Ich muß bei beiden sagen, daß sie sich auch für den E-Gitarristen sehr angenehm spielen lassen. Ich empfinde die Breite des Halses als gut spielbar. Da er recht flach ist, geht es auch für allerlei Arten von Händen gut. Diese hier, wiewohl eine offizielle qualitative Kategorie geringer als eine R131, also "nur"mit laminierter Decke, gefällt mir besser. Sie ist fast makellos verarbeitet, besser als die (eigentlich gute) R131, und sie klingt – das ist ganz sicher Geschmackssache – für mich "voller" oder "wärmer" als die für mein Ohr leicht blecherne R131. Sicher ist sie keine Hanika, aber da ich nicht auf der Bühne stehe, sondern für mich spiele, ist sie mehr als ausreichend. Der Gigbag von Ortega ist gewohnt klasse. Allenfalls die (für unsereins recht hohe) Saitenlage werde ich nach eigenem Gusto verändern, ggf. eine andere Satteleinlage einfügen. Ein schönes Teil, auch optisch.

Das ist schon eine richtige Gitarre, natürlich recht leise. Die Mensur ist etwas länger, daher muss probe gespielt werden.

I've been playing guitar for more than 45 years. I played hundreds of gigs with various bands in my younger years and still perform on rare occasions. I still play and practice every day and play many informal get togethers for small crowds. I own a Taylor NS42ce, 514ce, 312ce, 812ce 1st edition and a 914ce. I purchased this guitar for settings I wouldn't want to risk my more expensive guitars doing such as outdoors, campfire gigs or when I just wanted to throw it in the car in case of an impromptu party or get together jam. I can't tell you how surprised I was when I tuned up and started playing this guitar. I'm not going to try to tell you it plays or sounds like my 914ce, but I am going to tell you it plays and sounds amazing for a guitar twice it's price or more. This guitar now sets on a stand next to my desk in my office and gets played every day. It's a price point I don't worry about it setting out or getting a ding here or there and it truly is a pleasure to practice on and play. Thanks to this guitar I play more than I have in years and it's saving daily wear and tear on my more expensive guitars. This is hands down the best acoustic every made for a beginner's skill set and budget, but I will tell you first hand, it will put a smile on a seasoned player's face as well. Whether you're a beginner looking for an acoustic that will inspire you to play and learn, rather than defeat you like many cheap acoustics that play horrible and sound even worse will, or you're a seasoned player looking for a budget friendly, daily beater that is still a pleasure to play – this is your guitar!
