The reason for four stars instead of 5 is because of the lack of having a fully accessible 2 octave reach to those upper frets, and particularly on the "lead" neck. (Epi really needs to fix that — just stretch that neck out there another 3-4 inches on the new model.) Otherwise … I've had this guitar about 4 years now (the white one). Everything except those upper frets are stellar — but that is a critical concern when reaching for certain leads. I do a one-man-band thing. About 1/3 of the night I'm needing the 12 string on rhythm parts, and about 2/3 of those songs require jumping to the 6 string for the lead parts. This one guitar has REALLY honed my playing skills. The material ranges the spectrum of genres (Bob Dylan to AC/DC to Styx to BOC & everything in between.) I played rhythm & sang behind dynamite lead players over the years, and never developed my own lead skills till starting the OMB thing, and having this doubleneck in particular. WOW. I'm a different guitarist (and singer) at this point. I knew that by using backing tracks, singing (even harmonies with a splitter), and doing such a range of styles (and often two guitar parts) would require either a '5 song per night' acoustic or a double neck for more flexibility. The 12 string aspect fills in things perfectly when you are the only guitar on stage. It's great for many of the "clean" songs on the list. I went with Epi over the Gibson for budget and an obvious "fear factor." (I can't imagine taking a $5k guitar into the average bar or coffee house to get stolen or banged up.) After years of playing it, I really doubt there is 10 cents difference in quality, which really surprized me. This is not the 'generic equivalent' of the Gibson. It is a precision instrument, right down to the feel of the frets (and I own and have played primarily Gibson all my life — a V-2, a standard V, a LP custom, a LP studio, and an SG). The 6 neck feels just like an SG — fast and tight. The 12 is just as great under my smaller fingers — yet another surprize. With a padded strap, it is tolerable through an entire set, and I only weigh 'a buck thirty-five soaking wet.' Many 2 neckers are back breakers. It's heavy — but not quite as bad as some of the guitar-shaped concrete blocks I have tried out. Also, I had to make my own customized stand for on stage. Pick up a standard one, get some angle iron and a pair of the wall mount guitar hangers, drill and tap the angle iron, mount the hangers adjusted to the neck spacing, then mount that bar to the head of the stand. Seemed the best option at the time, and it works. For sound, the original rig is/was a Digitech multi-effect unit on the floor into a 100w Marshall. The Digitech is a bit light on acoustic modeling, so I am about to make a change. By putting a dual 1/4" adapter on the existing output, I can split things into two chains. For the 12 string neck, I'll have that route into a more robust acoustic modeling floor FX unit (like the Boss AD-8), then into a Marshall AS100D acoustic amp. When I flip the switch to the lead neck, that will go to the existing rig (love the available options on the Digitech for that). So I'll be able to go from the bright rhythm parts of "Take it on the run" (REO Speedwagon) to the crunch leads, and back. There might be a bit more footwork involved, but with an OMB situation, I'm beyond noticing how much I play with gadgets under my feet. The point in having a 2 necker is flexibility. If that's what you want, and can live either without the upper few frets — or have longer fingers than I, then THIS is the guitar you probably want. (For the other 2/3 of the night, when I am on harder-edge material and absolutely require the end of the 2nd octave, I grab either my V or Strat. Either goes into the lead side of my FX chain, and that's that.) I strongly recommend looking at amplification as a first concern. If you can have two amps on stage — one for really tweaked-out 12 string dynamics and even acoustic modeling, and another for the hot side of the 6 string — DO IT that way. Just plan on it. You won't regret it. The heat of those lead pickups will have you crazy trying to balance one neck against the other on the volumes. Fact is, the lead neck on this guitar has the HOTTEST pickups of my entire collection (im guessing about a +15db boost). Period. It screams, and just loves the hard rock/metal. Without missing a beat, the quality of the 12 string side is absolutely higher than any acoustic I've ever owned. With modern FX units, and any skill at all — well, if I had to downsize to only one axe, this would be the one I'd keep. No doubt about it.Aaron-4M-5X
Alpine White is back! If you wanted one of these in something other than Heritage Cherry nows the time to buy one. Overall this is a well made Gibson EDS style double neck. With better pickup selection choices vs the Gibson. Three switches are better than two. I've got a Norlin era EDS 1275 ala Felder. And this compares favorably. Slightly lighter and seems more resonant. The resonence may be due to to the revised Page spec tail peice location. while it's personal preference I much prefer the ProBucker 2-3 over the Alnico Classic Pro pickups this ships with. Having a pair for some added punch on at least the 6 string side would be nice. Wheather your playing originals or covers, live or in the studio this is a fabulous way to add some 12 string girth, chime and jangle to your sound. If your doing covers in a band having one of these opens up a whole bunch of material. And playing it on a double neck is twice as much fun. I own this And a Gibson EDS. I highly recommend the Epiphone version. At the price point it's hard to beat and if you like the sound of a electric 12 string they are fun to play and add the sonic charactor only a 12 string brings.Scott from Cleveland
It seems every Epiphone guitar I've owned always has a few bugs to be worked out. However once they're fixed they're very nice guitars to play. This double neck was no exception as the 12 string neck cut out on me due to some wiring issues. Musicisnsfriend was very cool about the issue and sent me a replacement that's had no major issues so far. Given it's size you would think I guitar like this would be difficult to play both awkward and heavy. However I was pleasently surprised how comfortable the guitar felt. The guitar is actually a bit lighter than my Les Paul. Both necks are easy to access. Switching back and forth takes a bit of practice if your new to owning a double neck. This guitar features a three way switch to switch between the 12, the 6 or both at the same time. I find having both necks lowers the output of the pickups a bit. I prefer to switch between one or the other personally I seldom use them at the same time. In addition to the three between the necks, each neck gets it's own 3 way tone. There are two volume and two tone knobs that control both necks as well. As states earlier the necks are very nice to play. I find the action very comparible to a Les Paul. The pickups are very well balanced providing enough output for great lead from a good crunch up to a high gain metal. But the pickups aren't too hot to give it very clean tone when needed as well. As with the neck the tone also is very comparible to that of a Les Paul. I've not played many 12 string guitars prior to buying this one, so it's difficult to compare the top neck to another. It plays very nice. The action was just right out of the box with no setup needed. The only minor complaint I would make with this guitar is the access to the higher notes on 19th fret and on. Each neck only features a 20 fret neck which limits you a bit if you play lead using higher notes. The sg body doesn't have as deeper of a cut away body as some guitars so access to the 19th and 20th fret can be hardZack

What can I say? This is one heck of a guitar. It's absolutely beautiful. The finish, the neck and the hardware are all top notch. I only had to tune it once since I've had it, and that was out of the box. The pickups are terrific. The variety of tones to be had are limitless. You won't be disappointed. Kudos to Guild for creating such a well-made quality instrument and making it available at such an excellent price.
This guitar has one of my favorite finishes ever (sage white, which looks almost like grayish-mint green in person) and the three-switch pickup selectors make this an extremely versatile guitar. You can turn two pickups off and use only one pickup switch to be able to act as a kill switch of sorts! Fretwork is good for the price, no complaints there. I had to have a setup out of the box like most cheaper guitars, but this isn't a tough guitar to adjust at all, and it's a good skill to learn — it'll save you so much money. My only wish is that there was some sort of tremolo system (considering this is a "surf" guitar). The box included a truss rod adjustment key, a couple of picks, some stickers, and a small gear bag. A gig bag would have been nice but I'm glad they include some extra bonuses in the box for beginners. If you're looking for a reliable, cheap, and high-personality guitar, this is the one for you. It's one of the best-looking guitars I've ever played.

Most of my guitars are American made, Taylor, Gibson, or Martin. This is the first, Chinese built Guild I have owned. I am blown away by the beauty and playability. I did change the strings to mellow out the tone and made adjustments to the truss rod, and wow, what a nice playing guitar. A great value for the money that cost me about one-fifth the price of my other guitars.timcantwell
I have been primarily an electric guitar player for many years. I have had a couple acoustics, but never one that I had chosen for myself. A few years ago I sold my Guild D25. It was a nice guitar but I never really bonded with it. Also not a big fan of the dread shape 🤷🏻♀️. Not sure what compelled me to check out the acoustic room at GC a few weeks ago, but suddenly found myself in front of a couple of glossy sunburst Guild OM 260ce Deluxe guitars. One of them had some markings that I thought were scratches at first but when I looked closer I could tell they were part of the wood grain. I had assumed I would prefer the one without the markings, and didn't expect a lot of variance between them but I let my ears decide- and the uniquely patterned one kept winning. They were both great players though, and I'm convinced I would've been happy with either one. But the one I brought home just has a little extra something. Really pleasing depth of tones and nice sustain. I was playing it every day since I got it, but finally took it in for a setup last week- itchin to get it back, as I'm sure it will play even better. Again, I'm not an acoustic expert but even off the rack, both guitars I tested felt comfortable and played easy. When I got home, I did some quick research and learned that the markings I noticed on my guitar are called "bear claw"- some makers believe this appears in older, more rigid spruce and comes out when a piece of top wood is perfectly sawn. Mine also has lots of "silking" and tight grain which seems to be further indication of a nice top wood. I don't love the look of runout, but that was about all I knew when I first picked it up (neither guitars I tested had much, if any, runout). If you can try a couple of these, you may find a similar experience where your ears can choose the right one for you. But again, I think anyone looking in this range will be happy with what they hear. The wood pattern and finish have really grown on me. I like that I would be able to pick my guitar out of a lineup- nice to see some uniqueness in mass produced instruments. I don't know much about tonewoods but the back and sides are really pretty and fun to look at as well. Top is solid, sides and back are laminate, take that as you will but I really like the sound and volume from this guitar. The neck is pau ferro with satin finish and feels great in my hand. My spouse also likes the look of it hanging in the living room, which is a big plus!K

I have over 20 electric guitars. A few are 3 or 4 times more expensive than this one. But this is my daily player. It sounds crunchy like a les paul, but is so light so it's comfortable to use for hours. It sustains beautifully because of the pickups, but if you really get close to an over driven amp, it's feedback is the most melodic sound out of any guitar, due to it's hollow closed body. It's just so solid for any rock sound, lead or rhythm.beatlebrent
I can't let this guitar sit here with no reviews. I picked one up when they first came out (summer 2013) and have been using it as my main guitar for shows since then. I'm really enjoying playing this guitar and haven't been wanting for a new electric guitar since getting it. I play blues/rock/roots music. The sound is very full, if a little on the bright side. I almost always use the neck pickup. The bridge seems a little too thin and bright for my tastes. Beautiful finish and excellent feel and playability. It plays so easy. Tried it out alongside all the other hollow/semi-hollow guitars with similar specs and it was an easy decision because of the sound, feel, fit + finish, and WEIGHT. It's so dang light, it's great. One of the tuners has had some slipping issues since I bought it, and I will probably replace the whole set. They're certainly not terrible, but not as good as some other guitars I've used. All in all a super solid axe that people are always asking me about after shows. Worth the price.Beige
The guitar was advertised with "light scratches on back". I looked all aver the guitar, no blemishes anywhere! The nut on the bridge pickup tome control was cross-threaded, so the control would spin past the stop point. This was easily resolved by loosening the nut and reseating it. The only other issue is some debris rattling around in the body cavity. The guitar arrived well set-up; neck was straight, action just a little too low for my personal preference and was in-tune out of the box. It's very light at 5.6 lbs, and plays very well. It's advertised as a hollow-body, but I've seen other reviews that claim it's "chambered". I haven't really settled on a preferred neck shape and this one is very comfortable. Frets seem a little higher than my other guitars, but no issue. Tone of the pickups, and the hollow body deliver a nice range of sounds through my 2nd gen Fender Blues Jr. The pickups are Franz P90 Soap-bars. My only other experience with P-90's are limited to an Epiphone Les Paul Special I P-90. The Guilds are not as hot, and subjectively smoother. They do not appear to be height adjustable. My guitar came with a nicely book-matched back, but there are matching knots in the wood. It's not bad looking, but once you see it… The 3-piece neck is smooth, fast and nicely finished. The pieces are not book-matched, but I'm not sure at what price point you'd expect to find that level of detail. There are a couple if cons; the tone and volume controls tapers are very abrupt. Not a gentle change, and the middle pickup selector do not hum-cancel. Maybe this is accurate to the now vintage models. I got a good deal off the advertised price by buying a blemish level 2. Tolles Teil. Die Specs hatten mich schon überzeugt, aber in der Preisklasse und auch darüber muss man oft Abstriche machen. Hier wirklich nicht. Sauber verarbeitet, Bünde, Lackierung, Elektronik, Hals, wirklich überzeugend. Auch aus der Box schon gut spielbar. Da ist Luft nach oben, aber viele möchten sich ihre Gitarren ja auch selbst einstellen. Habe Elfer aufgezogen, den Trussrod etwas nachgezogen und die recht hohe Saitenlage ein gutes Stück abgesenkt. Schnarren weiterhin im grünen Bereich. Und so ist sie halt noch mehr wie meine anderen. Nach einem Weilchen spielen werde ich sicher nochmal nachjustieren. Aber jetzt bin ich erstmal rundum happy!
De pickups hebben een heerlijke klankkleur: niet dof of schel, maar een eigen gecombineerde sophisticated klank die ik zocht. Ik ken geen gitaar die zoals deze klinkt. In combinatie met een Roland Jazzchorus versterker heeft het een belachtig clean geluid in het hoog, en ook de laag-mid frequenties klinken goed. Een gitaar die weinig effecten nodig heeft om goed te klinken. Gekocht voor studiowerk, en daar past hij ook bij. Lange levertijd, maar het wachten waard.

So I thought I would re review this guitar for you since I have now had it almost a year. I have to say it has far exceeded my expectations. Definitely my favorite of all my guitars. I recently decided to put Thomastik flatwound bebop jazz 13's on it, mas this guitar came to life. The Thomastiks are quite expensive, but I have not replaced them for six months and still play like new. gave this guitar such a smooth and fat tone. It really gave this guitar a whole new sound, not that the sound was bad with the 11's but it just has a tone that warms your heart now. I had to do some adjustments to the truss rod and tweek her in a bit, I readjusted the pickups and bridge, but man… WOW what a fine instrument. I am so proud to own one of these. It took a while for this guitar to really come to life for me. It is my first semi hollow body. I saw the video and fell in love with it, had to have it. It is beautiful not just in looks but in sound as well. It is a heavy beast, you may not like that, and it took me a bit to get used to the U shaped neck. I am used to play thinner narrower neck guitars. When I first got it I would not stay in tune, and took a few weeks of stretching strings and breaking it in to settle in. I have really come to love this guitar. It plays very well. I like to play jazz and mellow ballad type music with it. It has great tone, and sustain. I think as time goes by this one may grow to be my favorite. I have a Gibson SG, which I absolutely love the tone of. I also Have a Gretsch Pro Jet with Bigsby as of now is my Favorite to play. I would recommend this guitar, it has a sound all its own as is all Guild. I like tonal variation in my guitars because i do a lot of recording, and I like each guitar to set in its own space. This guitar definitely does that. It is the most expensive guitar I have purchased to date, so my expectations were very high. I started out a bit disappointed but as time has gone I am loving it more everyday. It came with an excellent case beautiful blue lining and a sturdy shell. Warm, airy, articulate pickups. Incredibly smooth to play. Beautiful appointments and finish. This is a beautifully made guitar. The pickups have a great texture to their sound. I love the master volume knob. The tremolo is smooth. The inlay work and binding are clean. Just kinda stunned with the build quality and playability. The nut on mine was binding just a bit, so I took it to my luthier. When I got it back, he was full of praise for the instrument. He said it was on par with any US Guild he had worked on. That's high praise indeed. Quick setup and the action is low and smooth. Can't put it down.
I play bass, but I’m occasionally called on to play rhythm guitar, particularly in a church setting. I bought this for its size (comfortable to strum, but not heavy or bulky) and for its versatility (the split coil gives so many sound options). In addition, I’ve been really pleased with its looks – the colour is a deep, rich, “woody” red: not at all brash or plasticy. The tone (unplugged) is fabulous, and through a practice amp it’s naturally clear & bright. Overdriven, it’s therefore easy to control your sound – unlike some semi-hollows, more gain doesn’t have to mean a muddy sound. The setup out of the box was ok, though the action was a bit high for me. But it’s a quality guitar, so even I have managed to adjust it with no problems. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but even after a couple of weeks I’ve really warmed to it – it has personality, style and grace.
Set up to perfection.. plays like a dream…. Sound and feel is perfect for 60s jangle, but then softens beautifully for those early 70s proggy sounds that I don’t normally own up to . Bought at the same time as my Furch. Red… I have spoken of the first class service that I received in more detail in that review, and I shall spare you a repeat, as I am usually a curmudgeonly old bu**er, and it’s not normally in my nature to speak so highly and warmly of someone twice in one day!!!😃😃😃😃😃Martin K.

Ok so it's Chinese made, but this is why it does not cost 1500. The build quality is good, the setup out of the box was great. Low action and easy to play, even accounting for wider than standard 6 string neck. ( And I don't have long fingers) The electrics work great and the hidden nature of controls is cool, if you don't want a big hole cut in the side of your guitar. Solid woods throughout, with great finish. Weakest point is the tuners, but it holds tune well for a 12 string, which in itself is unheard of!jacol-431
I've wanted a Guild 12-string since college, over over 40 years ago. Back then I had a Lyle Hummingbird clone 12-string, which sounded okay (laminated body, spruce top, Japanese manufacture.) Before I left college I also bought a Guild G-37, blonde, arch back 6-string. I still have both guitars. I loved the sweet, well balanced tone of the G-37, but could never afford one of their 12-strings to mate up with it. Fast forward to now – haven't played any of my guitars in several years, and wanted to get back into it. With the Westerly Collection, a 12 string was now affordable, and all the reviews and videos convinced me that this was the time! My new F2512E Deluxe arrived the other day, and it's stunning! Flawless finish, precision inlays, and oh that tone! Just like the tone of some of my favorite artists from the folk era, like John Denver. Bought this guitar to add to my acoustic collection. For this price my exoectations were low as I own a Martin, Gibson, Ovation Elite and Yamaha Transacoustic all which cost considerbly more so I was abslutely blown away by this guitar. It came perfectly setup out of the box with nice low action-no adjustment needed. The glossy sunburst finish over the flamed maple back and sides is absolutely beautiful-the top and is matched spruce and the back is matched flamed maple. Beautiful shimmery sound and the pickup sounds great plugged into my deluxe reverb amp. The satin neck finish is smooth and the frets are smooth and polished. The quality of this guitar is outstanding-I could not find a flaw in its material or construction anywhere. Nice bright maple jumbo guitar that I am glad I purchased. Don't let the price point and the made in China sticker scare you away-this guitar holds its own against my Martin HD-35, Gibson hummingbird and my other acoustic guitars. I bought a gator jumbo case to keep it safe and the ase fits nicely.DWB

Warm, airy, articulate pickups. Incredibly smooth to play. Beautiful appointments and finish. This is a beautifully made guitar. The pickups have a great texture to their sound. I love the master volume knob. The tremolo is smooth. The inlay work and binding are clean. Just kinda stunned with the build quality and playability. The nut on mine was binding just a bit, so I took it to my luthier. When I got it back, he was full of praise for the instrument. He said it was on par with any US Guild he had worked on. That's high praise indeed. Quick setup and the action is low and smooth. Can't put it down.
I play bass, but I’m occasionally called on to play rhythm guitar, particularly in a church setting. I bought this for its size (comfortable to strum, but not heavy or bulky) and for its versatility (the split coil gives so many sound options). In addition, I’ve been really pleased with its looks – the colour is a deep, rich, “woody” red: not at all brash or plasticy. The tone (unplugged) is fabulous, and through a practice amp it’s naturally clear & bright. Overdriven, it’s therefore easy to control your sound – unlike some semi-hollows, more gain doesn’t have to mean a muddy sound. The setup out of the box was ok, though the action was a bit high for me. But it’s a quality guitar, so even I have managed to adjust it with no problems. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but even after a couple of weeks I’ve really warmed to it – it has personality, style and grace.
Set up to perfection.. plays like a dream…. Sound and feel is perfect for 60s jangle, but then softens beautifully for those early 70s proggy sounds that I don’t normally own up to . Bought at the same time as my Furch. Red… I have spoken of the first class service that I received in more detail in that review, and I shall spare you a repeat, as I am usually a curmudgeonly old bu**er, and it’s not normally in my nature to speak so highly and warmly of someone twice in one day!!!😃😃😃😃😃Martin K.

I have over 20 electric guitars. A few are 3 or 4 times more expensive than this one. But this is my daily player. It sounds crunchy like a les paul, but is so light so it's comfortable to use for hours. It sustains beautifully because of the pickups, but if you really get close to an over driven amp, it's feedback is the most melodic sound out of any guitar, due to it's hollow closed body. It's just so solid for any rock sound, lead or rhythm.beatlebrent
I can't let this guitar sit here with no reviews. I picked one up when they first came out (summer 2013) and have been using it as my main guitar for shows since then. I'm really enjoying playing this guitar and haven't been wanting for a new electric guitar since getting it. I play blues/rock/roots music. The sound is very full, if a little on the bright side. I almost always use the neck pickup. The bridge seems a little too thin and bright for my tastes. Beautiful finish and excellent feel and playability. It plays so easy. Tried it out alongside all the other hollow/semi-hollow guitars with similar specs and it was an easy decision because of the sound, feel, fit + finish, and WEIGHT. It's so dang light, it's great. One of the tuners has had some slipping issues since I bought it, and I will probably replace the whole set. They're certainly not terrible, but not as good as some other guitars I've used. All in all a super solid axe that people are always asking me about after shows. Worth the price.Beige
The guitar was advertised with "light scratches on back". I looked all aver the guitar, no blemishes anywhere! The nut on the bridge pickup tome control was cross-threaded, so the control would spin past the stop point. This was easily resolved by loosening the nut and reseating it. The only other issue is some debris rattling around in the body cavity. The guitar arrived well set-up; neck was straight, action just a little too low for my personal preference and was in-tune out of the box. It's very light at 5.6 lbs, and plays very well. It's advertised as a hollow-body, but I've seen other reviews that claim it's "chambered". I haven't really settled on a preferred neck shape and this one is very comfortable. Frets seem a little higher than my other guitars, but no issue. Tone of the pickups, and the hollow body deliver a nice range of sounds through my 2nd gen Fender Blues Jr. The pickups are Franz P90 Soap-bars. My only other experience with P-90's are limited to an Epiphone Les Paul Special I P-90. The Guilds are not as hot, and subjectively smoother. They do not appear to be height adjustable. My guitar came with a nicely book-matched back, but there are matching knots in the wood. It's not bad looking, but once you see it… The 3-piece neck is smooth, fast and nicely finished. The pieces are not book-matched, but I'm not sure at what price point you'd expect to find that level of detail. There are a couple if cons; the tone and volume controls tapers are very abrupt. Not a gentle change, and the middle pickup selector do not hum-cancel. Maybe this is accurate to the now vintage models. I got a good deal off the advertised price by buying a blemish level 2. My guitar had no visible blemishes.I think it is a great value for the level of workmanship at that price.None to Speak of

Small guitar with a big sound. the jumbo title seems a little misleading to me but it i tried every travel and parlor size guitar i could get my hands on and this one seems to have the strongest volume. it has a curved back which increases the resonance. and the pickup is there if needed – it is a designed by fishman and to me sounds a lot like the infinity series. i ve only had it about a year and never took it out of the house. downsizing so having to thin out the collection – if i didn t have others with more sentimental value then this would be a keeper.

Despite the neck being described as a slim c it is thicker than my Taylor, Yamaha and fender. It's a little difficult to wrap my hand around but I am a woman. A man probably won't have that problem. I bought it to be a beater, something lightweight I can take around with me that I don't care about getting damaged. I actually wish I got the Taylor GS now because the neck will probably be what I am used to but I already have two Taylor's and wanted a different guitar, I like having different brands. The pick guard looks surprisingly cheap in person. Idk maybe other people like that look. I like a tortoise shell pick guard but this guild one just looks kinda faded out or something and the tortoise colors aren't blended well. It doesn't come with a gig bag anymore I guess, some people got one, maybe that is in other countries outside the US idk. The sound is what you would expect from a small guitar. The action is ok, a tad bit high which I might get lowered in the future. Doesn't bother me actually. The guitar is VERY lightweight.Jayjay L
I've been playing a recording king dirty 30s OOO for three years, and this is a whole new galaxy of guitar quality. Fit, finish, and setup are all great for the price range. The neck profile is very comfy if you like chunkier necks (I do). The satin finish is fast but not slick and sweaty feeling. Good balanced sound at the low end of the fretboard, a little weaker at the high end, but not enough to bother me. It's very responsive to attack: it sounds great with bare fingers but doesn't get muddy or brassy when I bang on it with a pick. The pickup is exactly what I was hoping for: good sound reproduction, no frills no fuss. It's not my dad's vintage J-45 or even his GS-mini, but it holds its own.
The extra time at home during the pandemic has found me exploring short scale guitars and working on my finger-picking. I've acquired a Martin 000 Jr, and an all-mahogany Martin Dreadnought Jr. When I came across Guild's Jumbo Jr., I said, well, of course. How could I not? I thought a maple guitar would be a good addition to the Junior arsenal, and I wasn't disappointed. These Jumbo Juniors are beautiful, well made little instruments, fit and finish are superb. Mine has a couple bear claw inclusions on a very nicely book-matched solid Sitka spruce top, figured maple sides, and a bookmatched arched back of gorgeous, flamey, figured maple. The back and sides are laminates, but are very well chosen for their figuring. I thought the factory 13s were a bit too stiff, and the action a smidge high, so I had some nut and saddle work done, put a set of Martin Flexible Core 12s on, and just love this thing now. I think the factory idea behind the heavier strings is two-fold; to tighten up string tension that's inherently light due to the scale length, and to give it more low end. I think they just made it difficult to play. I haven't noticed any difference in tone switching to 12s, and the flexible core Martin strings have lighter string tension, enhancing playability. Given it's size, and that maple as a tone wood is on the bright side, you're not going to get a booming low end from this guitar – you might be better served in that regard by one of the mahogany bodied versions, but that's not what I was looking for. This guitar does have a fairly full and well balanced sound, nicely articulate with sparkling upper end resonance and great sustain. It plays well with the Martin Juniors, and has plenty of projection to keep up with the full-size boys, too. Great guitar!Rex K.

Pickguard looks perloid in the picture and solid white is what I got. Upper neck has NO pickup selection. I know because I took it apart and all 3 upper pickups are wired directly to the output!! The knob in the middle, should be a blend pot that allows one to have one, both or adjust volume between the 2 necks. What the factory did was McGeyver a regular volume pot to try to do the same thing that kinda works, but not very well. 6 string neck on the on I recieved was very unstable! If you push one way or another, you can hear it go out of tune. 12 string neck is actually a little better, but the string break angle at the nut is ridiculous and pulls at the nut. I had to glue the nut in place (should have been done at the factory) to keep the strings in their proper place. Now I know at this price point for this type of guitar, you might have to put some work in, but some basic stuff should be ok from the jump and quality control sucks. I am a tinkerer and 40 year guitar player. So I know some things and know how to fix stuff. Good Luck if you get one of these that is playable out the box!!Rodd

It's been said "Korea is the new Japan". This Korean Guild delivered in every way. It plays wonderfully, has Seymour Duncan pickups and all American parts. I bout a used Guild Blues Bird in 1975 (at age 20) and when I saw this 2017 version, I had to come back home to Guild. I was playing a Schecter A-6 which is great, but the range of sounds on this Blues Bird has caused me to make this my main axe. I ordered mine in the "antique burst" color. The pick guard comes uninstalled and it may be an addition to the black one but not so on the other two which have a tiger maple veneer. Great fretwork. Very pleased.
I am a gigging amateur "weekend warrior" musician. I bought this because I wanted another LP style guitar that had a vintage look but didn't seem like a copy. Often when I buy guitars, I do the setup myself, play it for awhile, then get a professional setup to dial it in perfectly. This guitar arrived with a very high nut, and a sitar-like buzzing from the saddle of the high E-string. I got a professional setup that fixed both of these issues and now it is great! The sound is great, the neck has a great shape and I really like the narrower fretboard radius. The gig bag is really high quality too. I'm giving four star because of the setup issues, but I'm not too upset about this, because I usually get a setup anyway. Overall, a nice guitar that I am gigging with and enjoying.Mister Russ
Similar to other reviews, I really like everything about this guitar – the size the weight the neck the pickups the pots it's a beautiful little guitar. one of the first things I did was remove the tuners to put on some locking tuners and there's the rub. I looked everywhere on the internet and finally found some off-brand tuners. I'm hesitant to enlarge the holes to the 10 mm standard size – the 8.5 mm size it comes with makes it hard to find really good locking tuners. I wrote to Guild and they didn't have any suggestions as to brand of tuner that I could use. I wonder if Guild reads these reviews. I'm not going to give up. other than that this is a wonderful guitar.firenza22

I bought this a few months ago (elsewhere). Mine has a translucent cherry finish (beautiful). Its offset body reminds me of a Salvador Dali painting, or a drunken SG. Sound/tone is great for everything. I noticed it produces a very subtle/natural/cool "feed-back" that is easily avoidable when needed, but is also welcomed when creating. It's pretty light weight, and balanced nicely. The neck/fingerboard feels comfortable. The open-back tuners are great and hold their own. The pick-ups are pretty unique sounding – thin to thick. Very fun and minimalistic controls that are highly functional and create a diverse array of tone. This axe screams: "Look at me. Listen to me".NoChrome66
I have been wanting the Gretsch version of this guitar but couldn't and wouldn't put that much money out, however I am glad they re-issue this Guild model from the 60's. I found it to be fun to play, responsive and the looks of the Vintage Sunburst is awesome. Definitely a keeper and will sing many genres of music with this fine Korean guitar.JSTJEAN

This was my first "new" guitar purchase in over 20 years. I have been an avid purchaser/flipper on the "used" market for a long time – and finally decided that I wanted a slope shoulder dreadnought that would not break my budget. Why? Because they look so darn good and also my right shoulder has been getting worn out over the years trying to wrap around full-sized dreads. Additionally, I prefer laminated backs and sides for their stability and toughness in all weather/humidity/temp conditions – I like to take my guitars on road trips and they often get played in vacation rentals – sometimes on the coast. I ended up choosing the DS-240 Memoir because it ticked all my boxes: it's definitely affordable, has a full and defined sound especially in the tonal mid-range, solid spruce top, laminated 'hog sides, looks absolutely fantastic, and is a joy to play. Most importantly though – for me – when I look at it and pick it up, it inspires me to play – from the flawless vintage sunburst finish, the open gear tuners, to the throwback Guild lettering on the head-stock. I feel something so unmistakably familiar yet at the same time new and exciting. I'd say I finger-pick about 75% of the time and finger-nail strum about 25% of the time. The DS-240 responds well to both and when needed can produce significant volume if you pick-strum. This guitar arrived with a factory height on the bridge and nut. It is definitely very playable right out of the box, intonation was spot on, the frets and neck are very smooth – however, I prefer a very low action. It was easy enough to pull the bridge and sand it down to my preferred height. The tuners adjust smoothly and are snag-free. Guild necks are their own thing – it's about right in-between as far as thickness is concerned and very playable for my somewhat smaller hand size (7.5" middle finger tip to base of palm). I am incredibly happy with my new Guild DS-240 Memoir. It was definitely worth the wait.Jodythebaker
Overall: There is a lot to recommend for this guitar. It's eminently playable, looks great with it's 20s and 30s vibe, and a dark, brooding vintage sunburst top. From folk, blues, rock, bluegrass, new age(?), I think Robert Johnson, Jimmie Rodgers, or Muddy Waters could find themselves sitting down and kicking back old style. This guitar has the aura of being a time machine. It arrived with only a slightly high action. I remedied it with miniscule tweaks to the truss rod. It sounds and feels as good as any guitar I 've owned. Craftmanship, build, every detail was perfect out of the overpackaged box it arrived in. I like this guitar alot. It's bold blusterous voice can softly be tamed with delicate nuanced fine picking. Unless you can lay down long green for a USA model this is an excellent starting point with Guild.Louis
Bought it based on reviews online. Nice neck, smooth and easy to play, full sound as dread should be and set up was good when it arrived. I did lower the action a little and added new strings, but all to meet my needs, as it was fine out of the box. A good guitar at any price, the sound is clean, the frets are fine, the intonation out of the box was correct. Highly recommend the guitar to any user new or experienced.charlie

Bought this to play in the bedroom for practice tonight. Wanted something with a gloss finish and a little fancier than most entry to mid level guitars. Got the guitar and it looked and sounded great! The action from the factory was pretty high and there was plenty of saddle to adjust it down to were I wanted it. The fret ends could us a little dressing as they're not the smoothest, but I'll get to that eventually. Very happy with this purchase and it will probably be with me for awhile!Jonathan
It's hard to describe the feeling I got when I unpacked this guitar (after waiting the recommended 24 hours) and strummed the first chord and it was in tune! This guitar is amazing and an incredible value. You'll be hard pressed to find an instrument with the same specs for under. The fit and finish is flawless and the sound it makes goes head to head with my Guild F-250 deluxe tone cannon! The solid mahogany is tight and pleasant sounding for finger picking and you can strum it as hard as you want and she won't crack! This was my first time buying from Sweetwater and it was a smooth transaction and lighting fast shipping. Much much better experience from another huge online store. So if your undecided about buying this guitar I say go for it. You won't be disappointed

Overall: I have recently purchased a Guild D-40 Traditonal in Antique Sunburst finish. Although I am not a professional musician, I can tell you that you do not have be to understand how awesome this guitar is. From the first time you lay eyes on it, you know what a fine piece of craftsmanship, including the case it comes in. Its simply beautiful. And then you get to play it! Wow!, the sound is exquisit and playability is incredible. And, man does it boom. Guild isn't joking when they say its "Made to be Played" as I literally cannot put it down, just ask my wife (driving her nuts). This guitar easily competes with any other high end guitar on the market and I also love that it is made in the USA. Simply can't go wrong with this one!
I upgraded to the Guild D-40E after the better part of two decades with a well-made but student-level guitar. Looking for a US-made, all solid wood dreadnought, as I researched it seemed like a good time to consider the Guild USA line and I am glad I did. I could not be happier with this guitar. It has a nice combination of punch and warmth, projection and sustain. Significantly more responsive than my previous acoustic, it is also more forgiving if I am less than perfect in my playing. My practice amp is not doing the guitar's LR Baggs Element pickup justice and will have to be replaced. My playing friends insisted that I get a "real guitar" and now I've got one.Mark
