the neck wasn't leveled the frets were sharp on the edges, the six string neck set up higher than the 12. the electronics were cheap and micro-phonic. either neck didn't seem to have a finish on them. even as a beginning guitar it wouldn't be good without a lot of work.harrisonguitars08

This guitar is very nice in appearance but the playability is a bit lacking. The tuning keys on the 12 string were stiff and binding. The volume knob for the 12 string had a wiring problem. when I would turn the volume up,(10) for the 12 string the 6 string volume would be down quite a bit. So when I switched to the 6 string I had to put the volume knob on 8 for the 12 string to get full volume for the 6. I keep all my volume knobs on 10 and adjust my overall volume from the amp. There's supposed to be separate volume knobs for this guitar but like I said there was some kinda wiring glitch. Other then this it was very nice and the sound was exceptional.merw.tom

I got this for a customer and the neck feels like a 2X4 ,not finished at all, like sand paper ,also the heal is cracked and was shimmied with a piece of plastic. View picturerpcmrsz

The reason for four stars instead of 5 is because of the lack of having a fully accessible 2 octave reach to those upper frets, and particularly on the "lead" neck. (Epi really needs to fix that — just stretch that neck out there another 3-4 inches on the new model.) Otherwise … I've had this guitar about 4 years now (the white one). Everything except those upper frets are stellar — but that is a critical concern when reaching for certain leads. I do a one-man-band thing. About 1/3 of the night I'm needing the 12 string on rhythm parts, and about 2/3 of those songs require jumping to the 6 string for the lead parts. This one guitar has REALLY honed my playing skills. The material ranges the spectrum of genres (Bob Dylan to AC/DC to Styx to BOC & everything in between.) I played rhythm & sang behind dynamite lead players over the years, and never developed my own lead skills till starting the OMB thing, and having this doubleneck in particular. WOW. I'm a different guitarist (and singer) at this point. I knew that by using backing tracks, singing (even harmonies with a splitter), and doing such a range of styles (and often two guitar parts) would require either a '5 song per night' acoustic or a double neck for more flexibility. The 12 string aspect fills in things perfectly when you are the only guitar on stage. It's great for many of the "clean" songs on the list. I went with Epi over the Gibson for budget and an obvious "fear factor." (I can't imagine taking a $5k guitar into the average bar or coffee house to get stolen or banged up.) After years of playing it, I really doubt there is 10 cents difference in quality, which really surprized me. This is not the 'generic equivalent' of the Gibson. It is a precision instrument, right down to the feel of the frets (and I own and have played primarily Gibson all my life — a V-2, a standard V, a LP custom, a LP studio, and an SG). The 6 neck feels just like an SG — fast and tight. The 12 is just as great under my smaller fingers — yet another surprize. With a padded strap, it is tolerable through an entire set, and I only weigh 'a buck thirty-five soaking wet.' Many 2 neckers are back breakers. It's heavy — but not quite as bad as some of the guitar-shaped concrete blocks I have tried out. Also, I had to make my own customized stand for on stage. Pick up a standard one, get some angle iron and a pair of the wall mount guitar hangers, drill and tap the angle iron, mount the hangers adjusted to the neck spacing, then mount that bar to the head of the stand. Seemed the best option at the time, and it works. For sound, the original rig is/was a Digitech multi-effect unit on the floor into a 100w Marshall. The Digitech is a bit light on acoustic modeling, so I am about to make a change. By putting a dual 1/4" adapter on the existing output, I can split things into two chains. For the 12 string neck, I'll have that route into a more robust acoustic modeling floor FX unit (like the Boss AD-8), then into a Marshall AS100D acoustic amp. When I flip the switch to the lead neck, that will go to the existing rig (love the available options on the Digitech for that). So I'll be able to go from the bright rhythm parts of "Take it on the run" (REO Speedwagon) to the crunch leads, and back. There might be a bit more footwork involved, but with an OMB situation, I'm beyond noticing how much I play with gadgets under my feet. The point in having a 2 necker is flexibility. If that's what you want, and can live either without the upper few frets — or have longer fingers than I, then THIS is the guitar you probably want. (For the other 2/3 of the night, when I am on harder-edge material and absolutely require the end of the 2nd octave, I grab either my V or Strat. Either goes into the lead side of my FX chain, and that's that.) I strongly recommend looking at amplification as a first concern. If you can have two amps on stage — one for really tweaked-out 12 string dynamics and even acoustic modeling, and another for the hot side of the 6 string — DO IT that way. Just plan on it. You won't regret it. The heat of those lead pickups will have you crazy trying to balance one neck against the other on the volumes. Fact is, the lead neck on this guitar has the HOTTEST pickups of my entire collection (im guessing about a +15db boost). Period. It screams, and just loves the hard rock/metal. Without missing a beat, the quality of the 12 string side is absolutely higher than any acoustic I've ever owned. With modern FX units, and any skill at all — well, if I had to downsize to only one axe, this would be the one I'd keep. No doubt about it.Aaron-4M-5X

Alpine White is back! If you wanted one of these in something other than Heritage Cherry nows the time to buy one. Overall this is a well made Gibson EDS style double neck. With better pickup selection choices vs the Gibson. Three switches are better than two. I've got a Norlin era EDS 1275 ala Felder. And this compares favorably. Slightly lighter and seems more resonant. The resonence may be due to to the revised Page spec tail peice location. while it's personal preference I much prefer the ProBucker 2-3 over the Alnico Classic Pro pickups this ships with. Having a pair for some added punch on at least the 6 string side would be nice. Wheather your playing originals or covers, live or in the studio this is a fabulous way to add some 12 string girth, chime and jangle to your sound. If your doing covers in a band having one of these opens up a whole bunch of material. And playing it on a double neck is twice as much fun. I own this And a Gibson EDS. I highly recommend the Epiphone version. At the price point it's hard to beat and if you like the sound of a electric 12 string they are fun to play and add the sonic charactor only a 12 string brings.Scott from Cleveland

It seems every Epiphone guitar I've owned always has a few bugs to be worked out. However once they're fixed they're very nice guitars to play. This double neck was no exception as the 12 string neck cut out on me due to some wiring issues. Musicisnsfriend was very cool about the issue and sent me a replacement that's had no major issues so far. Given it's size you would think I guitar like this would be difficult to play both awkward and heavy. However I was pleasently surprised how comfortable the guitar felt. The guitar is actually a bit lighter than my Les Paul. Both necks are easy to access. Switching back and forth takes a bit of practice if your new to owning a double neck. This guitar features a three way switch to switch between the 12, the 6 or both at the same time. I find having both necks lowers the output of the pickups a bit. I prefer to switch between one or the other personally I seldom use them at the same time. In addition to the three between the necks, each neck gets it's own 3 way tone. There are two volume and two tone knobs that control both necks as well. As states earlier the necks are very nice to play. I find the action very comparible to a Les Paul. The pickups are very well balanced providing enough output for great lead from a good crunch up to a high gain metal. But the pickups aren't too hot to give it very clean tone when needed as well. As with the neck the tone also is very comparible to that of a Les Paul. I've not played many 12 string guitars prior to buying this one, so it's difficult to compare the top neck to another. It plays very nice. The action was just right out of the box with no setup needed. The only minor complaint I would make with this guitar is the access to the higher notes on 19th fret and on. Each neck only features a 20 fret neck which limits you a bit if you play lead using higher notes. The sg body doesn't have as deeper of a cut away body as some guitars so access to the 19th and 20th fret can be hardZack

After receiving it I made some adjustments to the tremolo and found that the spring cavity was bare wood / looked like it was chisel out with a screwdriver and it was not routed or CNC'd flat. Worse than that the wood under the Floyd rose was cracked and the finish was cracked as well. Basswood is a very light and soft wood so I am guessing the trem was pushed back during shipment or during setup at the factory and not seen by the staff as it is only visible when you remove the Floyd. I am a woodworker and beginning luthier so I corrected these issues myself and reinforced the thin section under the bridge with a custom fitted piece of maple and routed out the trem cavity so it is flat and sprayed the trem pocket with flat black paint looks like it should have when it left the factory now. I know I probably should have sent it back but overall I really like the guitar and I think Eddie would approve of my work.Douglas

This guitar has my favorite neck. The fretwork is amazing and the neck plays itself. This surprised me coming from fat Les Paul necks. Super easy to play, which, in turn, makes you sound better. I was very impressed with the sound and the functionality of the electronics. I’m a big Van Halen fan but don’t play a whole lot of it and this guitar sounds great for all kinds of other stuff, so long as you’re playing hard rock/early metal. Cleans up great with the volume knob but let’s be real – with no neck pickup, cleans aren’t really what you’re going for. Out of the box, was not intimated at all and there were a couple of paint dings and imperfections. Floyd also didn’t hold tune super well but with a solid setup and lubing up the fine tuners, it plays and sounds great. I had one of these a couple of years back and sold it foolishly to fund other purchases but hear I am, back again after purchasing again. It really is an awesome guitar and I am partial to the b/w color scheme with the Strat-style input jack. My Les Paul Custom is better quality but this guitar honestly sounds as good or better for a third of the price. And this guitar makes you a better player and you realize how amazing of a guitarist Eddie was considering how basic and simple this guitar is. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.Arpeggio5150

Eddie inspired so many folks to pick up the guitar. This is my second EVH model and I am amazed by this guitar every time I play it. This model was on my bucket list of guitars and when it went on sale at Adorama, I had to snap it up. It came perfectly setup from the EVH factory and the only thing needed to be done was to tune it properly. The D-Tuna is great to switch to drop D tunings. The Frankenstrat plays like a dream. The fretboard is like butter and the the action is ideal for playing hard rock and metal. The pickup gives you an excellent approximation of Eddie's brown sound. I am ecstatic with my purchase and this guitar is the perfect homage to the master. RIP Eddie!Tomas

Do not buy without seeing/playing. I waited 6 months for this to arrive and was SO looking forward to it. The finish is absolutely beautiful, which makes the rest of the story that much more depressing. The tremolo, specifically the D-Tuna, does not fit the cavity. It hits the body when in regular E tuning. When I first picked it up, it wasn't surprising that it wasn't exactly tuned after shipping, though it was actually close. However the sixth string was tuned to E, with the D-Tuna disengaged (so should have been a D). I thought that was an odd mistake, but realized after trying to engage the D-Tuna into regular E position that whoever did the final setup did that on purpose because it won't go into E position without totally colliding with the body! Oh and the bridge pickup is totally loose and wobbling. That can probably just be tightened, but please… This is the second EVH Wolgang USA I've seen since Eddie's death that has had major, similar problems. The other's bridge pickup worked intermittently, and again the D-Tuna was hitting the body. It would be one thing if this was a cheap, import guitar. But at this price, these issues are unacceptable. So again, hold and examine the guitar yourself before buying.Joel D

To put my review in context: been playing 30 years, have had over 50 guitars and currently hold onto about 20- most are the high end USA models with "bells and whistles." I just read the book "Eruption" written by guitar magazine journalists and loved it- described Ed's constant tinkering with his guitars and search for best tones. Half way through I knew I wanted to go get an EVH model to add to my guitars (played a few over the years and they were all great, but very expensive Music Man Axis / Peavey), and wanted to wait until I finished the book to narrow down my search and go try out a new one to buy. Glad I did- toward the end of the book he explained how this model guitar is exactly what he wants to play right off the shelf as an entry level model a great gift to guitarists wanting an affordable guitar that isnt junk. I bought it and after about an hour playing with it as my guitar tuned down to Eb half a step- it is now my #1 guitar for that tuning (also for context my #1 for standard tuning is a Shur super strat which costs like 6x this Wolfgang). In response to some other lower reviews- yes, this is not equipped with a Floyd Rose floating bridge, just as Ed played- he sites the reason as Pros= better tone and you can rest your hand a little on the bridge without playing out of tune. Yes, the cons include not being able to pull up a note to really high pitch with the bar. right off the shelf it was set up with IMHO the best gauge string for his type of playing and a guitar tuned down half a step- 09-46 gauge. The 6 page manual with the guitar was really cool- a note from Ed was in it about how he wants folks to play the guitar and make it their own with literally their playing, grit and grease from hand oil actually being the wood finishing on the unfinished wood. The neck and fretboard are very sturdy, with jumbo frets and the latest technology in manufacturing to ensure each note can be fretted and in remain in tune / bend smoothly. All electronics are top notch- great humbucker pickups picked by Ed after a trial of about 100 different different pickups during the design phase. Tuners and Floyd Rose Special bridge were standard- I may upgrade them in a few months after breaking in the guitar. This is the only guitar review I have ever done- just trying to get some good karma I guess from this treasure I found and pass on the scoop on this guitar to others. Hope this helps- buy this! The perfect guitar to make yours just as it is, or customize/tinker around with it since it is affordable and there is much less stress of messing something up. IMHO if this guitar gets its due in the upcoming years it is our generation's Les Paul.Kevin

What an awesome product! This is my second USA EVH Wolfgang. I love the Ebony fret board. It's comfortable and super fast. Great build quality and fantastic tone. This is the nicest guitar I've ever owned and I've had them all. I'll definitely be buying another?JK

Just got it last night and I couldn't be happier with this guitar. I currently own one US model and 3 Japanese models. The Japanese models are high quality for the money but it's difficult to compare them to the build quality of the US models. Every EVH Wolfgang I own has a maple neck so I was hesitate when it came to Ebony fret board. I understand now why almost 90% of the Wolfgangs have ebony fret boards. The fret board and neck have a more comfortable feel and it's faster than the maple fret board. The build quality, tone and overall superiority of this guitar is really something to behold. I've owned Les Pauls, Strats and Charvels and none of them compare to the superiority of this guitar. Great job Eddie! Best guitar on the market. I can't wait to get my next one!James

I love the EVH Wolfgang USA. It took a little getting used to, as I had been playing a Strat, but after some adjustment the guitar feels natural. Its weight was surprising. It seems closer to a Les Paul than a Strat, but I got used to that also. The stock PUPs are great, nice harmonics and sustain. At this price point, I wish it came with German made Floyd Rose, but the Korean one is OK.Jimifan1975

I'm lucky enough to own quite a few guitars. (Les Paul, ES339, a newer deluxe Strat and Tele, vintage SG and Custom LP and more all USA built) This EVH is the best Guitar I've ever played. I like it so much I bought a Striped Mexican made EVH to Jam with so i don't wear this one out. Everything on the Wolfgang USA is as you'd want it (ok, except for the silly headstock shape). It never goes out of tune no matter how much you're dive bombing the Floyd. The neck is the smoothest and fastest neck I've touched. The electronics are bullet proof and just SOLID, you can mash everything, the kill switch is awesome, it looks and feels sturdy. Even the dog collar strap things work surprisingly well. Just a very wonderfully engineered guitar.thatkatmat

I've been playing for 41 years. I own and have owned lots of guitars like Strats, Les Pauls, ES335 etc. This is my favorite guitar I've ever owned. It just feels right. The neck is perfect. Its size and weight feel just right too. Craftsmanship is fantastic and the guitar is flawless.Lost Ghost

This guitar is amazing. A nice upgrade on the previous USA Wolfgangs. I think the new Alnico pickup really brings a noticeable tonal improvement, and the addition of the kill switch is just too cool. My guitar arrived with a perfect setup. Low action, smooth neck, tremolo set just right. Love the ebony fretboard and SS frets. Sounds great clean, but it really shines when you crank up the gain and volume. Crazy harmonics and very articulate. I'm playing through an EVH 15 W lunchbox head and 1 x 12 EVH cab. Wouldn't hesitate to buy this one again.Waldo

Pickguard looks perloid in the picture and solid white is what I got. Upper neck has NO pickup selection. I know because I took it apart and all 3 upper pickups are wired directly to the output!! The knob in the middle, should be a blend pot that allows one to have one, both or adjust volume between the 2 necks. What the factory did was McGeyver a regular volume pot to try to do the same thing that kinda works, but not very well. 6 string neck on the on I recieved was very unstable! If you push one way or another, you can hear it go out of tune. 12 string neck is actually a little better, but the string break angle at the nut is ridiculous and pulls at the nut. I had to glue the nut in place (should have been done at the factory) to keep the strings in their proper place. Now I know at this price point for this type of guitar, you might have to put some work in, but some basic stuff should be ok from the jump and quality control sucks. I am a tinkerer and 40 year guitar player. So I know some things and know how to fix stuff. Good Luck if you get one of these that is playable out the box!!Rodd

The guitar was delivered in its box, but was dirty, i can only assume it had been sat around for a while, it was a 2018 discontinued model. It was that bad i nearly returned it. But i gave it a good clean, the fret board was filthy, set it up and now i am really pleased with it. I owned and played one of these semi-pro for a decade back in the '80s because it was a hassle switching from 6 to 12 string guitars and always having to redial the amp for the different pickup outputs. The heavy mahogany body (and it IS heavy, especially neck-heavy, the reason for the 4 rating) produces crystalline sound with excellent articulation and sustain and the output between necks is well-balanced. The 1275 gave me the versatility and ease of switching (one switch) that I wanted and a sound I loved. My single-neck 12s have been Rics. The 1275 lacks the Ric "jangle" but that's a minor drawback. I also owned a Carvin koa doubleneck: decent 12 string half, totally useless 6 string, but it was well-balanced weight-wise. I played a BC Rich "Bich" doubleneck and the thing is an ergonomic nightmare and didn't sound nearly as good as the Gibson. I installed a belt hook on my strap for the 1275 keep the necks from falling down when I let go and it worked well. If you want a doubleneck, get the Gibson.Jerry

Got silver burst finish which is beautiful and rare. What a beast of an axe. This is a keeper. Epic look and feel. Very playable.RBC
