I really wanted and expected to like this pedal, given Bogner's great amps and this high price tag. I was so disappointed. The distortion tone is good, but nothing very special. What really turned me off was the way the dynamics are totally squashed. I have played less expensive pedals by Wampler, Fulltone, Hermida, etc. that have gorgeous tone and are much more responsive to picking dynamics. I used it on a couple of gigs and found that this is not a pedal that cuts through a live mix very well. That's probably why they had to build in that fancy boost footswitch with the variable gain and output – you will need the volume boost if you want your solos to be heard at all. Also, the YouTube demos are somewhat misleading about the amount of boost adjustment – you can only add a little bit of gain and/or output volume. I ended up returning this pedal and trying the Wampler Pinnacle, which I find much more impressive.FinalGuitarist
Tone wise, it sounds like a boutique Marshall or Soldano. Really great sound. Incredibly tube-like tone and response. I would be hard-pressed to tell the difference between this and a tube head at anything other than concert decibels. Great sound at bedroom practice levels, but it still gets LOUD if you crank the volume. Utterly perfect for anything ranging from rock to modern metal. No doubt it can do blues too. It even stacks great with traditional Tubescreamer style overdrives. Again, very tube-like response when you boost it for metal. Great response on the EQ. Scooped sounds really decent, but dialing in a "frown" gets really creamy.J
Comparing the Bogner Red Ecstacy to the Pinnacle is misleading. Which Pinnacle version? I've owned them both in various release configurations (with or without the boost) and found the Pinnacle to be one trick pony. Why buy a Bogner pedal (which never mentions EVH) if looking for the "brown sound"? The Pinnacle or the Mad Professor should have looked at first. And yes, the stripped down Pinnacle is still the same cost as the Brown. If you add the boost to the Pinnacle, you're gonna pay more still. A lot of pesos to cover one guy LOL. I've watched the PGS clip and I really like what I hear. I can't wait until mine comes next week. I currently own a C. Martin Plexitone, an AMT O2 Orange dist/preamp and a Plextortion so I'm not biased against Wampler products. My Micro Terror and Traynor 12" cab prove very flexible with the pedals I have. With the addition of the Ecstacy, I feel I have my bases covered for my set list. I don't need a Mesa pedal although I love 'em 'cause I don't play death or thrash. Bogner is awesome.TempleTantrum

I can see that T.C. has put a great deal of time and effort into developing this line of pedals.The sound of the Shaker is at once new yet familiar.However those such as myself that truly love the very organic sound of the Fender vibro. amps may find that the purity of sound that this unit produces may not inspire them in the same manner,but it does grow on you.The variety of sounds available,plus those offered through toneprint make it a fairly unique piece of equipment. As with most of the stuff that T.C. makes this pedal has a abundance of controls that allow for a very wide variety of adjustments,from subtle to extreme. This is a great pedal. Its really adjustable and sounds real nice. One of the best vibrato pedals i have ever played. Its compact too. Almost as small as an mxr pedal. Doesent take up alot of real estate and it doesent break the bank. Another cool thing is the tone print. No other pedals come with that. Has a momentary latch too which is nice. It is true bypass and you can select between buffered and true bypass. I prefer buffered but it has true bypass for all you true bypass nuts. Great solid pedal. I would recommend this to anyone on the market for a vibrato.BB

The JHS Emperor is by all means a fine chorus/vibrato pedal that should satisfy most players. That being said, I personally found it to be a tad timid in the depth department and a little bit too much on the "dry" side. It is said to have been designed after the Arion SCH-1, revered in some corners as a studio secret weapon, one supposedly inspired by the Boss CE-2. Somehow, I fail at distinguishing the resemblance between the two, but that isn't necessarily an issue. Overall, the Emperor is a beautifully made pedal that is guaranteed to deliver. This Strymon pedal is very expensive but has all the chorus effects anyone would need – and a few more – in a very accessible unit. I particularly like the degree of fine adjustment available; Chorus, I think is mostly a subtle effect and fine control is necessary in this situation. It took me a while to bond with this effect. I really, really wanted to like it but I had difficulty finding the right sound that complimented my overall tone. After finding the "Black Hole Sun" setting, I thought that I had exhausted all it's capabilities. I wasn't very familiar with vibrato outside of chorus and uni-vibe, but I also didn't realize that vibrato was so widely used either. Once I stopped trying to use it like other modulation effects, I realized that the real beauty lies in it's subtlety. Though it can be used to make your tone seasick, it sounds best when it's barely noticeable. I know that sounds crazy especially given it's price, but it can't be overstated that having it barely turned up adds a lot of depth and richness to the overall tone. So much so that when you use it for a couple of songs and turn it off, it's absence is immediately noticeable. It adds subtle movement and thickness just below the surface, but the ripples it creates change the very nature of the pond itself- in a good way. In this sense it can be used as always on effect. That being said, it only does one thing making it a very expensive one trick pony. One note of caution: When used in the same chain as an effect with a charge pump (a component in some effects to raise or lower the internal voltage), it produces a very noticeable high pitched whine due to a process called heterodyning. A quick search on the internets will provide a better definition and description than I can give. It seems to affect modulation effects across the board, so don't freak out and send it back thinking it's busted. I had the exact same issue with an A/DA flanger and almost cried when I thought it was broken, but it just tuned out to be my Archer Ikon blasting it with voltage. Once the effect with a charge pump is removed, all is well.Brad
Oh wow, you know that sound you want to get? That fuller and richer sound? Well, this pedal is how you get it. Set it quite low for the fuller sound effect and turn it up for the sweetest vibrato ever to grace your ears. I've also got the boss expression pedal and with that you can alter it with your foot and get some nice effects out of it. Add it to distortion, flanger, delay – whatever, it just sounds awesome. I dig that this re-issue version of The Gonkulator added a distortion knob. This thing sounds GREAT with my analogue synth (Arturia MiniBrute) and my digital synth (the Korg Monologue). Haven't tried a guitar yet, only synths, and a vocal mic. Its a smelly nasty flavor that's right at HOME with a small keyboard (3 octaves worth/30+ keys). Oh, and I put in my crappy Casio (using the drum beats) and this thing made it GROWL like a lower digestive track set aflame! Great bargain if you can get it for $60 or less, shipped. Bravo, DOD! Bravo! This, along with the FX70C Corrosion, are my FAVE pair of DOD pedals. wonder what one sounds like going through the other? Hmmm… Let's go find out!damnedcat777

This is a pretty cool pedal, if you have the chance to get it for a good price. I don't really use the frequency or ring a whole lot. The sounds you get from the gain/distortion/output is very cool. It is a fuzz/overdrive sound that is different from my other fuzz pedal and overdrive pedal. It is a fun pedal to have around.ryanb

This pedal can do almost anything tremolo or pan. I'm yet to really explore what it can do but it's the tremolo equivalent of a unit like the Big Sky or Timeline. It may not be digital or MIDI like them but it's flexibility is astounding. I recommend anyone who wants the ultimate in tremolo pedals to try this one. Best digital univibe out there. I had a Dunlop analog and this guy eats for lunch. If you are on budget and want to get that Hendrix/Trower there is a small form factor. Look no further. Please the sound floor is lower than an optical analog pedal. The sounds is warm, lust and organic. Surprising for DSP right?! The Leslie effect is only the top horn and dual. From trying many Leslie emulators I'd recommend the Lester or Neo Vent. The Ventura doesn't stack up to them, but the vibe is killatoriko
The univibe setting sounds great and the mix knob gives you a great range of sounds. Drive/tone knobs let you fine tune each mode. Vibrato can be dialed into more of a chorus with the mix knob. Rotary can sound a bit harsh of you don't dial back the tone knob, but once you find the spot, it's great. Press and hold the button to momentarily dial in faster and deeper settings of each mode. One of my favorite pedals. I bought a second one for my other pedal board.artlo_4401

This product is awesome. It gets your creativity running high! First of all in terms of sound, it is a studio grade machine. You are able to use it without having to process the outcome in any way. Regarding Workmanship, this is a Strymon product so all you can expect is excellent quality. If you are a studio guy you do not have to worry with the robustness of the Mobius. If you want to use it on the road you have to be somewhat careful as the buttons can, if abused, give out, but generally speaking it is one sturdy machine. Performance wise it is as expected from any and every Strymon product, the pedal is easy to configure and interact with by standard and if you like tweaking even more you are able to control whatever you need using a midi pedalboard. The price could be a bit lower although in my opinion, this pedal sets the standard for this array of effects. The features are awesome, you will spend lots and lots of time exploring this unit and I am sure enough you are not able to check upon every possible knob setting and configuration. It has a never ending set of knob twisting and presets that will fit your every need!
The mobius does what it says on the tin. All the modulation you could ever want and it’s all easy to program in. I didn't consider this one when looking for a tremolo pedal because I figured it was one of the cheapest ones. Now I realize it's the only one that can get that shaky vintage tremolo sound I was going for. The only weakness is the knobs' range is too wide. The usable range for vintage tremolo is pretty narrow.

Choosing a vibe pedal is difficult. More so than other types of effects, you just can't rely on the opinions of others as vibe pedals are very finicky beasts. With most, you have to work at trying to make them sound good in your setup, or just compromise and accept a hit on your tone for having to use one. I would recommend watching all of the reviews that you can, but you will in the end base your final decision on hands-on experience. I tried out numerous vibes, looking for one that sounded great and wouldn't break the bank. Among those that I tried were the TCE Viscous Vibe, which to me sounded very dead in the tone department when engaged, and the EHX Good Vibes, which sounded okay but still lacked something that I still can't quite explain, but it was enough for me to return it as it just was not what I could consider a 'keeper'. Ditto for the Deja Vibe.This EQD 'The Depths' pedal finally nailed what I was looking for. You can have your vibe effect and still have your original, vibrant (no pun intended) tone. This one I just could not stop playing. I love what I hear out of it…..finally!! I tried the other vibe pedals purely based on (1) reviews by others and (2) price. I was hoping to avoid actually spending anything more than I had budgeted. In the end, I figure that for a vibe pedal you simply get what you pay for. IMHO, this is one specific effect pedal where you just can't base your purchase decision entirely on what others think, meaning that after trying the other vibe pedals out I just couldn't agree with all of the reviews that I had watched prior to purchasing. Yes, I got this one at more cost than I had originally intended on spending, but in spite of the cost I am still quite happy with it, it just sounds gorgeous. I would highly recommend this to anyone seeking the Trower/Floyd vibe sounds who still wants to keep their base tone in tact. Or, it is also versatile enough to make your own distinct sounds with it and not HAVE to sound like others.RJoz

I purchased this pedal after buying the Origin Effects SlideRig Compact Deluxe mk2 which I was very pleased with. I actually owned an original Magnatone amp from the 60's at one point, it sounded great but it weighed a ton and was not very practical to perform with. I was thrilled when I read the first reviews of the MAGMA57 but did not buy it immediately seeing as is pretty expensive. I now regret not buying it sooner because this pedal is amazing! Not only does it sound like my original Magnatone's pitch shifting vibrato it includes some killer extra sounds like a Uni-vibe as well. I recently played it with a baritone guitar and it nearly stripped the paint of the walls :-D! The drive sounds very natural and touch responsive, it does not have a lot of gain but it stacks well with other drive/boost pedals. In conclusion, no complaints whatsoever, it's built like a tank as are all the Origin Effects pedals. The only minor point is the price, but for this kind of quality it is well worth it.
Ich setze mal voraus, dass die grundsätzliche Idee hinter dem Pedal bekannt ist, deshalb hier meine Erfahrungen mit dem Pedal. Der Drive ist großartig. Eher aus der Tweed-Ecke und super dynamisch und reicht von Edge of breakup bis in Fuzz Territory. Der Tone Regler ist sehr interaktiv mit den anderen beiden Reglern und macht sich dazu noch super im Stacking mit anderen Overdrives. Kommt das Vibrato dazu, geht das von einem sehr milden "always on" Abfedern des Tons bis zu wilden und experimentellen Einstellungen (ist aber nicht so mein Ding). Die 90° Einstellung lässt dann nochmal die Sonne aufgehen – so ein großartig waberndes und sirup-artiges Vibe findet man sonst bestenfalls noch bei Drybell. Das Beste daran ist aber, dass es den Ton nicht zumatscht mit lauter Effekt, sondern immer spielbar und regulierbar bleibt. In der Summe bekommt man hier einen Clean-Boost, einen Overdrive, ein Vibrato/ Chorus und ein Univibe Pedal in unzerstörbarer Verpackung und besonders vor dem Hintergrund der Soundqualität ist der Preis mehr als gerechtfertigt.

I picked this up last night and was pleasantly surprised. I watched all the you tube vids and knew what to expect, but what none of them show is the range of tone you can get from this. The intensity, throb and voice knobs all combine to provide an endless pallet of tonal options to accompany the vibey part. If you can imagine it, you can pretty much dial it in within a few seconds. It takes a little playing with the knobs because of the huge amount of interplay between them, but just awesome! I was pleased by how easy it is to dial in a lush chorus without the warble I bought it for. So, it does much more than just one thing. I have three EQD pedals now, the dispatch master, which I cannot live without, the hoof, which is another huge range pedal I was pleased to have, and now the depths. I absolutely love all of them because they start with the basic sound you probably bought the pedal for, then do so much more than you ever imagined they would be able to do. You can set and forget, or tweak to your hearts desire. They are just spectacular sounding and so versatile.
