I bought this thinking it would be really awesome to use as an interface to get some good pedal and amp modeling without all of the gear. I am not an Apple user, but I do have a Macbook I use for work purposes. I tried to find Amplitube to use and it is not able to download the app to Macbook. It has to be either iphone or ipad. I used it with the built in garageband app and there is a lot of feedback and static that comes through the speaker when using the pass through fx. I've known about the iRig series for over 10 years, and I wanted something that would simplify recording my guitar, keyboard, and electric violin, so I took a chance and purchased the IK Multimedia iRig 2 audio interface. I expected it to work fine with my iPad Mini (generation 1) and my iPhone 7 (using Apple's Lightning to 3.5mm adapter), though I also assumed that it would not work when I tried connecting it my Lenovo laptop's headset input. To my surprise, it actually did work with my laptop. An impressive sounding device but I haven’t been able to get it to work yet. The software package that comes with it on CD is dated and doesn’t work with Windows 10. The drivers on CD are old too. So you have to get the new drivers from the Behringer web site. Then you have to get a sound software package. Audacity is too simple so I signed up for Pro Tools free, but it wouldn’t install the audio drivers. Then you need the Behringer USB link and then try to get the lot to work. I couldn’t. DJ City offered me a refund but I’m going to persist. I also bought a Jam for the iPad and that worked within minutes.Richard W.

I have been researching how to make this interface work for about a month. Some users are very lucky and very satisfied. Others, like me, have yet to get a single note out the PC speakers or headphones. It is an inexpensive device, but should still be straight-forward to install. IT IS NOT. Drivers are no longer available at the vendor site. The fact that even this business can not provide concrete installation instructions that result in this device working should be enough to scare anyone off this product. Pros: Compact, Easy To Use Cons: Limitations With Win7 Other thoughts: compact and pretty much plug-n-play. I'm running Windows 7 Pro and found out that I'm not able to listen to my guitar plugged into the unit AND the audio on my laptop. This is a limitation to me, as I purchased this interface for the purpose of being able to play along with my online guitar lessons. I have to add that I noticed this when using the ASIO drivers (ASIO4ALL). I attempted to test another one of the built in Windows drivers but the latency is just unacceptable. I haven't tried this with any other version of Windows (eg: XP) to see if this is still the case. Just something to mention. Again, it's compact with it's tiny footprint, which is great for mobilility. When setup to play guitar using the ASIO drivers, the guitar sound and latency is fine. I guess when I buy a product from Musician's Friend that is advertised as compatible with iPad, I expect it to be compatible with my IPad. But apparently the plug is different on the newer IPad and won't accomodate the older plug included in the package. So it's utility to me as a tool to use with an iMac and my IPad is reduced by half. It works with Jamup, Sonoma 4 track, and Garage Band. It does not work with Amplitube. I think the limitation is not the device, but the apps and medium to where it's going. You are not going to get professional results from an Ipad. What you will get is nice quality demos – and this device gives you the best conversion going in. Garage band's guitar modeling is good for cleans and terrible for overdrive (fizzy and digital). Jam Up is the best sounding guitar modeling app, but I can't use it to multi track like I can in Garage Band. Sonoma 4 track is where you can really hear how well this device converts to digital. Hopefully more quality apps will surface where I can get the full potential of this device in one app. I like it, but felt is was a tad overpriced. Pretty straight forward. It's an input device, but the gain setting is important so you can adjust depending on our guitar pickups. Sound quality is great considering the medium in which the signal is being recorded (iphone and ipad). Build quality is ok, plastic. Probably could not take real heavy abuse but we shall see. 35+ yrs. as a musician, 10 yrs. independent recording artist. This is by far the very best quality when using an iPad in conjunction with Garage Band or other recording software. The secret to the quality is that this is plugged into the lightning port not the headphone port, this makes all the difference in the world. It's 3x's the price of other similar pieces, but it also delivers 10x's the quality of signal without having to put up with noise or glitches. If it cost too much to afford right off the bat, save your money and wait to buy this before wasting your money on the other designed pieces. Buy this once and you'll never have to worry about this piece of the sound chain.

I bought one of these with the intention of purchasing more for my classroom. Once I figured out how to use it (not hard), I fell in love. The app they recommend isn't the best which made it seem harder to use initially, but there are soooo many other amazing apps that work with it (I prefer the tonebridge app since it models any song effects you can think of and is free and foolproof). The person that I corresponded with NEVER mentioned a firmware update, but, one was found at their site and downloading the 1.5 firmware upgrade (released today, 08/25/16, so obviously they know they have a problem) brought it back to life. Not a lot of sound options available other than for individual purchase inside the app (2.99 – 9.99 or so for each amp or stomp box model). Some latency can be heard as well. Probably an "ok" tool for silent practice, but not something that I would ever rely on for anything other than amusement.P90

Im not crazy about it..It does track quickly. Secondly you dont have to bolt it in.. Thats the good, Im not to crazy about the sound libraries that come with it. Ive not found much that I can use. After about 6 uses over the course of 15 months the unit quit. On-line support (email only) told me that it was probably the cable and that I should BUY a new one for 30.00 since it was out of warranty (1 year). The person that I corresponded with NEVER mentioned a firmware update, but, one was found at their site and downloading the 1.5 firmware upgrade (released today, 08/25/16, so obviously they know they have a problem) brought it back to life. Not a lot of sound options available other than for individual purchase inside the app (2.99 – 9.99 or so for each amp or stomp box model). Some latency can be heard as well. Probably an "ok" tool for silent practice, but not something that I would ever rely on for anything other than amusement.P90
I bought this mainly for home recording, and for private practice when traveling. The device works great as an audio interface with both Auria and GarageBand on my iPad. GarageBand has several built in effects and amp models, and I can really get some great sounds without having to break out the pedalboard. I'd consider using it for live use, or at least rehearsals. Overall: I've been looking to upgrade my Focusrite 2i2, Apogee Jam+, and iRig Pro Duo combination (don't ask!) for quite some time because I was never completely happy with the constant tweaking required for guitar tones without high end harshness and sizzle. zZounds had the AXE I/O on sale for $299, so I went for it. One interface to rule them all, LOL. The mic pres are at least as good as the Scarlett. The midi and expression pedal inputs work as expected for keys, drums, wah wah, etc. AXE I/O has plenty of clean volume on the headphone out. The JFET and Z-Tone controls are subtle but make all the difference with my Fenders and Gibsons. Again, harshness, brittleness, high end sizzle…GONE. e. Easy setup and installation of control softwaref. Amp-Out/Re-Amp is a great feature. Lots of ways to experiment here. Plays nice with Logic Pro. No noticeable latency at 256. Highly recommended for guitar players using amp sims.
Have been using Amplitube for more than a decade, it has always been ok although version 5 has really come of age. Sounds fantastic with Bass (as always) and now also with Guitars. Needs to be tweaked a bit more to get the best out of it but that's a good thing. The AXEIO interface is the perfect solution for any guitar with its versatility and SQ. Overall: Worked great for 10 days. Today it started cutting in and out and when it did work it was muffled and low volume. Tried different cables, guitars and power supplies, even took out all of my pedals. Still sounded like absolute crap. Kind of surprising because Boss has a well deserved reputation for quality gear. This little wireless unit does the job. Painless. I've seen the guys in my different bands use the Line 6 units they wear on their belt… but really like this one's ease. The adapted has 12 hours of life, sounds perfect on each side of the stage, and doesn't interfere with the other wireless units on stage. I was skeptical that pulling it from the jack would pop, but it absolutely does not. It has a slight signal boost as well. Best part is you can run direct with a cable and keep it plugged into your pedalboard, in the event you have to go wired. It's a great unit, plugs into my 9v daisy chain. Like a Mac, it just works.JD
Pros: The achieved wireless sound quality is truly outstanding, as good as when I'm using my 20-ft Zaolla guitar cable, which is a bit pricier than WL-50 (because its conductors are made of silver instead of copper). Kudos to Boss for this remarkable achievement! Cons: The WL-50 transmitter can be powered only by its internal rechargeable battery. My fully-charged transmitter works slightly over 4 hours after which its battery becomes completely discharged and unusable. I am really impressed with this device. So small. And so powerful. You can use it in so many different ways. I use it to stream from my Computer using Garageband directly into my iPhone for Facebook Lives with some fun reverb. It works just great. So fun. This way i can record my Audio for the live videos and cut oit individual songs later. Super grateful.
I purchased the iRig recently. It was fairly easy to setup, once I downloaded the iRig recorder app on my phone. I use it for DJ livestreaming, and the sound quality is OK. The setup works with RCA inputs. It doesn't sound as good with a microphone input if you are singing. But speaking is OK. For the price, you can do a decent livestream over Instagram or Zoom. Also be careful that your sound input is not too CPU intensive or else the recording will skip.ANNA

The i-Rig2 is the perfect accessory for musicians who are looking to practice without "disturbing" those in close proximity. I play the bass guitar which can interfere with someone upstairs from me who might be trying to listen to the tv. I bought this thinking it would be really awesome to use as an interface to get some good pedal and amp modeling without all of the gear. I am not an Apple user, but I do have a Macbook I use for work purposes. I tried to find Amplitube to use and it is not able to download the app to Macbook. It has to be either iphone or ipad. I used it with the built in garageband app and there is a lot of feedback and static that comes through the speaker when using the pass through fx. I am a little sad about this as I had high hopes.Scott
I've known about the iRig series for over 10 years, and I wanted something that would simplify recording my guitar, keyboard, and electric violin, so I took a chance and purchased the IK Multimedia iRig 2 audio interface. I expected it to work fine with my iPad Mini (generation 1) and my iPhone 7 (using Apple's Lightning to 3.5mm adapter), though I also assumed that it would not work when I tried connecting it my Lenovo laptop's headset input. To my surprise, it actually did work with my laptop. I have yet to really tap into the iRig 2's fullest potential, and I still need to group all of my audio input apps into one folder on both iPhone and iPad, but so far, I'm very pleased with the IK Multimedia iRig 2.jayoders1986

The Line 6 sonic port is very well built as you'd expect from Line 6 and comes with a lightning connector and a connector for older versions of ipod/iphone/ipads. It's very simple to use, just plug it into your Apple device, plug a guitar in to the input and fire up the app. Output can be to headphones, speakers or any other device with an auxiliary input (including amplifiers, PA's etc). It can also be used in conjunction with any app that uses the core audio bus, so you can record to garageband, use ampkit, amplitube, the name but a few. I recently a BOSS Katana Artist MkII amplifier (which I have reviewed elsewhere) and love it. However, it is somewhat of a pain to connect my phone and studio headphones to it to do a little nighttime jamming – both of those require cables, which makes setup and teardown enough pain that I don't want to do it. When I heard of the WAZA-AIR, I found it is almost exactly a Katana in convenient headphone shape. To be clear, I love this thing. It sounds good enough that I will play it and it is a snap to get started. I traded a Fender Mustang Micro for the WAZA-AIR, and the two are not even in the same ballpark. To be fair, the Mustang is about a third the price, so I'm not surprised, but if you are struggling to get a good sound from a Mustang – and if you have the cash – the WAZA-AIR is likely to do what you need. The software and firmware are…finicky at times. There are a few oddities that I can't explain that differ from the Katana software. For instance, it appears that I cannot use both a Booster and the Modulation at the same time. I don't get that. I can still connect a wireless MIDI controller to the WAZA-AIR, and that might open up more possibilities. It's also another investment, and I'm still trying to determine if being able to hit a pedal is worth it. Overall, I do recommend the WAZA-AIR. It sounds great, the convenience can't be beaten, and it is just very solid and feels right. There are a couple of strange parts that – so far – do not detract enough from the experience for me to try to change them. If you are reading this now, I recommend you give it a try. I have both the Waza Air Guitar and Waza Air Bass and like them both. The headphones are comfortable and it's great to be wireless. Like others have mentioned, I do lose the Bluetooth signal from the transmitter to the headphones every now and then, but it isn't too bad. The intermittent loss of Bluetooth is easy to compensate for by just unplugging the transmitter from the cable jack, on either the guitar or bass, and re-plugging it in. Each time, when I first start using them, I'm careful to put the headphones on my coffee table, turn them on, and let them stay still for a little while, as not to confuse the gyros. They mention letting them stay still for a short while in the online information, and it seems to work, as I have not noticed the drifting others have mentioned. I do sometimes get a brief bit of static, but this is mostly on the Waza Air Bass set, and was possibly or partially due to some fret buzz I had before I got a good set up on the bass. The static might also occur a little bit more when the Bass is in active mode rather than a passive Bass mode. The thing I love about the Waza Air's is the ability to practice at all hours and not make too much sound that would bothering my neighbor. I've used the Mustang Micro guitar headphone amp, which is great too, but I like the cordless operation of the Waza Air. The Waza Air Bass is probably one of the few good solutions for headphones to use with a bass, as there aren't many other options. The Waza Air Guitar is a great solution for guitar, and though there are other options for guitar, so far I like using the Waza Air Guitar better. Since I have both the Bass and Guitar versions of the Waza Air I also have a total of two charge cables to charge both the transmitter and headphones at the same time, which I like. I mark the different components with a piece of Artist tape so I don't mix up the Guitar and Bass versions. I also am careful to charge each of the headphones with the correct original cable for each one. You cannot use the unit and charge it at the same time however. The transmitter often needs no charging after one use and seems to charge very quickly. The headphones take a little longer to charge and do not have as many hours of operation per charge as the transmitter. They say the headphones get about 5 hours of use per charge and the transmitter about 12 hours of use per charge. That said, I have never depleted the charge on either unit during one usage. I use my older standard Apple iPhone chargers (cubes with the green dots that are USB A connections) to charge the units, as they say not to use a rapid charger. Overall, I think both the Waza Air guitar and Waza Air Bass are great and I'm very happy I have them. They are a bit pricy, but not too bad, if you consider that you are getting a transmitter, a receiver, and headphones all included. Your experience might vary but I'm glad I got them, think they are great, and love practicing whenever I want.
I am not sure, but I don't think anyone has ever invented this. It's just headphones that connect to your electric guitar wirelessly, right? In fact, I was just thinking of this, before I discovered these on Sam Ash – because i was sitting there, tangled in headphone wires, guitar cables, and I wondered – can't somebody do this wirelessly? So I did a search, and voi la! Here's the other thing – inside the phones, it sounds like outside the phones. In other words, these are not JUST wireless guitar headphones – they are wireless amplifier headphones. The one thing I don't like – and maybe someone knows the answer – but, the controls, through the app, are pretty limited. Or at least, it's not like a amp modeler, like Spark. But then, Spark is not like Amplitube – actually models hundreds of real amplifier setups – from the real world. My first performance with the unit, I placed AA batteries in the compartment and closed until latch fully closed. On the 2nd set, the latch came undone on its own. Batteries fell out and two parts (latch and battery contact plate) also fell through the cracks of the stage. I ordered the replacement parts on full compass. I put the replacement parts in and they line up perfectly, but now I'm wondering how in the world are these two pieces going to stay in place? Theres kinda nothing keeping them from falling out again. Thinking that I must be missing something, I watch YouTube videos to look at the compartment in review videos. Only to realize that most of these review videos mentioned my exact same problem. And one of them suggested using a zip tie to hold the battery latch shut. So anyone considering this unit should not only expect that the battery door may open on its own at anytime. But also the latch and battery contact plate will definitely fall out when it does. There seems to be nothing about the unit itself to prevent this, so it is left to you to figure out how rig it up with duct tape or zip ties or whatever on your brand new product… Not ideal. I've been using this for live gigs in a variety of venues for two years. For a while I packed a backup wired preamp and cables just in case, but I have never once had an issue of dropouts or poor signal transmission. Once I thought I had an issue, but I had accidentally moved the channel selector switch on the receiver, and that was easily remedied. It has been perfectly reliable otherwise. A lot of reviews mention the belt clip breaking off. I actually just keep the receiver in my pocket. Then it's hidden from view, and it's easier to switch guitars (compared to clipping it to a guitar strap). For the batteries, I read about some concerns with rechargeable batteries, but I bought a 4-pack of Panasonic Eneloops and they've worked great. I charge the main pair before every gig and keep the other pair as a backup and have never needed the backup. I've played for at least six hours without recharging. Overall, it's been really fun to have a wireless guitar setup. I mainly wanted it so I could walk out in front of the stage to check our sound on the gigs where I'm the sound man. But I never realized how nice it would feel to not be walking on cables while I play. Just taking a few steps around the stage to adjust things or interact with my bandmates feels so much better than when I was plugged in. I bought this a week ago, as I was still using an old-school set up, and wasn't crazy about my bass sound being as compressed as it was. Considered one of the other systems in the line, and decided for this price, it was worth it. Its range is listed as 30 meters or so, and after thinking it over, what are the odds I'm going to get more than about 30-45 FEET away? Even on the bigger stages I play every so often? Brought it home and plugged it in. Tonewise, it was night and day. Even my bride/prime roadie could tell the difference. Just for fun, I took that off, and plugged in one of my acoustics. Bright and clear. from all across the house in different rooms. Took it with me to a big show on a big stage (small theater set-up.) Had it up and running in minutes. Set it to channel 4 (completely arbitrary choice.) I see what the other reviewers mean about the flimsy battery door, but I keep my transmitter in a pouch (about $10-$15 at any retailer) attached to my strap, and this transmitter is a pretty snug fit. Solves the door problem and clip problem all at once, along with some padding for all the jumping around I like to do. If there were any drop outs during the show (we went about 50 minutes), I didn't hear them. My tone was a thing of beauty, and I got to run around and entertain. I already own a Quilter MicroPro2. I enjoyed recording with it, but was wanting an even easier solution. The Phantom Block is the answer. Just plug your guitar directly (or through your favorite pedals) into the input & output directly to your interface. I use a Tascam Model 12. Fantastic clean tone….the gain did not overdrive as much as I was expecting but not an issue for me.

This is the perfect accessory if you're a Logic Pro user who plays guitar an wants to use the built-in Logic Pro amps and effects. That said, I bought this more for the ability to control the Logic transport controls via the dedicated Apogee foot-switches. I use a Line 6 Helix and an iRig I/O stomp for recording more than Logic's own amp and effects components, and also often record using actual amps and effects (mic'd), but this offers transport controls along with the added bonus of dedicated foot-switches for amp/effect or other Logic midi-controllable stuff. Plus, I got mine for $199 as a "refurb" from Apogee (it was brand-new!), but it's still worth it at full price of $399 for what it does.stratman351
The device came in original package in outstanding condition. Since it is built very well, it can handle a lot of use. Easy set up with Logic Pro X and my apple mac mini (About 10-15min). It is very easy to use and makes recording and practicing a lot easier without having to take your hands off the guitar.jpasquito
