Reviews:
I bought this amp based on the good print reviews and the way it sounded in you Tube reviews. I did a lot of homework and finally placed my order. I was excited when it showed up at my house and plugged my Jay Turser Les Paul copy right in. Boy, is this thing dark! I turned all the tone controls to 10. I changed the strings. I removed the covers from my pickups- that just made it dark and tinny. After three days I decided that I had to either send it back or make some changes. I took the speaker from a Squier 15 amp and installed it in the Bugera. Right away there was more life and clarity to the sound, though it still sounded tinny (because it's a speaker from a Squier 15), but it was some progress. Next I pulled tubes from a circa 1959 Curtis-Mathes console stereo and swapped them into the Bugera. Now we were getting somewhere- the overtones, the reason we use tubes, were now present and accounted for. The same console is full of Oxford speakers, which are a Jensen knockoff and well respected. I took an 8" from that and installed it in the V5. OH YEAH! Now this is a great little amp. The clean tones are super sweet, clear, full and bell-like with tons of sustain. The overdrive has a huge range of grit, and the reverb is better than any other amp I've had. So after installing a set of +/- 60 year old tubes and speaker, it sounds great. But out-of-the-box stock, I would have sent it back, no question. If you have a too-bright guitar or are willing to make upgrades, this amp is a super value. My one complaint about build quality is that the wattage selector switch is extremely touchy- it goes from .1 to 5 watts and has to be fiddled with to get it to stay on the 1 watt setting.Farmhand
This week I bought a duellist overdrive pedal from king of Tone, the Revival Drive from Origin Effects and this lovely little amp. The two pedals cost nearly £700 between them and the Bugera only £189 but my favourite tone comes from the Bugera itself largely because the built in attenuator allows you to really cook the single valves at pre amp and power amp stage without annoying the neighbours. This makes the Bugera a lot of fun. It’s tone control could be improved to raise the brightness but for the price I’m not complaining. This is definitely more of a British than an American tweed sound. And the addition of pedals – which it takes well – can potentially increase the brightness. The onboard 8 inch speaker is fine for practice and the amp is just about portable enough to use for travel. The speaker jack is accessible on the back panel, so it can be swapped easily for a guitar cabinet if you wanted to gig this machine or open up the sound (it’s 5 watts can still be loud enough for small venues). If, like me, you have been dependent on fender amps for home playing and you want a good alternative ‘Marshall’ sound at bedroom levels, then look no further!
Perfect at home tube amp. I generally use 1 watt mode. Great tone whether clean or breakup. Loves my telecaster and Boss BD-2 into it, and takes pedals great in general. Couldn’t get over how nice it looked when I unboxed mine, either. Beautiful looking amp on top of sounding great. Really an incredible value. Can’t recommend this one enough if you’re looking for a home use valve amp.Grandaddy Jeff

Nice little kit! Instructions are pretty clear and it's certainly not overly complicated to build. Having some amp repair/building experience helps, but I'd say even a beginner could buy this, build it, and be playing it within a day or so. Once built it sounded pretty good as well. Fun to swap tubes around, substituting the 12AX for a 12AT, AY, or others. The 'effect' changes on the pull switches are pretty subtle, so don't expect anything dramatic there. But, the amp makes a great platform for learning, and even 'expanding' from the original design. I've put an EIA connector in the back of mine so I don't have a cord sticking out. I put some tall 'feet' on it so it would clear a speaker box handle. And, the power transformer is suitable for adding a 6CA4 rectifier, which I plan to do in the future. I'll have to move the filter capacitor section around some to make clearance for the socket, but it's a 6 volt 9-pin rectifier, so will work perfectly in this amp. I might even 'upgrade' the output transformer….or play with some yellow jacket type adapters to try a different output tube. In all, a lot of fun to build, sounds great for what it is, and I'm very glad I made the purchase!! A 'GREAT' value!!!Tom
This is a great kit. I wanted to build a small amp so i started researching schematics online. Then i found this kit. All the leg work has been done as well as step by step instructions. I just started it so i can’t comment on tone, but the ease and design of the kit is excellent. Full parts list, schematic and instructions include. It gives you a proven simple platform to start with and you can add your own modifications if you wish. Thanks MODRonnie

I bought this amp on a wim and I'm glad I did. I wanted a light weight little tube amp to lug around to play small gigs with. I'm old and I don't like to bring out amps that are just too loud and bulky. After swapping out the tubes a couple of times to find what my ears liked, it just perfect. I'm not going to tell anything about how it sounds because that would not mean anything. We all search for a individual sound that is on YOUR head. I will day this. The amp is a great platform to mold into that sound we all are looking. I purchased 2 of the single 12" cabs. O opted to do this instead of the 2 x 12" because I wanted to keep the weight down for moving it around. The 18 watts is plenty loud enough to cut through and be heard. I like the amp so much that I use it for every show. I can play small to large gigs with no worries. When we play bigger events I just run into the board but still use the cabs for monitors. So I can hear my rig. The days of having to lug a full 100 watt stack are not needed anymore. So all in all this a great little amp and it will satisfy most everyone with a little adjusting. I also love that tube replacement is just plug and play. It will tell you if your tubes need replacing and it's self biasing.worldtrdex
Classic Hughes and Kettner tones in a little monster of an amp! Plugged it into a 12 x 2 cabinet and DAMN! this thing is beautiful to listen to. Clean or over driven, this amp is a pleasure to play guitar on. However when overdriven the nuanced variances between different guitars are not well appreciated. The overdrive is more muddy and less nuanced in my opinion. Comparing different strat styles here with different pick-up combinations. Tele sounds different. Chambered SG style sounded the same as other strat style guitars with humbuckers. Parker and Ibanez S series with infiniti 2 pickups sounded distinctly different. Have not played neodymium pickups on it yet but I'm hoping that will clear up some of the mud.arcticwynd

Reviews:
Great little amp. Decent sound assembled with the base components – I use it paired with some Parts Express BR-1 speakers. Some have complained about the bass response – I went and modified it with some Edcor output transformers and orange drop caps. The low end has returned with a vengeance, and now I am limited by the speakers. The upgrade path has begun.
I built this amp 4 years ago, and have used it a lot. It's connected to a pair of ELAC DB62-BK speakers. It was fun to build and has been very reliable. I upgraded it with Hammond 1615A output transformers, and the extra iron makes it sound much better. I haven't replaced any tubes yet, but would be interested in options for tube upgrades.Shayne

Reviews:
I just completed my Mod 102 kit. An excellent experience! I was delighted with the quality of components, clarity of instructions, and, perhaps most importantly, the sound of the amp. It is very loud – currently running into my Fender Twin Reverb cab (2×12) and very sweet! I will be running it into a new 1×12 cab with a new Celestion G12 M Heritage 'Greenback' when I get a case for the speaker (on order). My only criticism (and something to look out for) is that the chassis is very nicely painted in gray gunmetal paint. Even following the directions to file all the holes, it is very hard to get a good ground connection at every point a terminal strip connects. I worried about this, and about 1/3rd of the way through the build, took an ohm meter to check all the connections, and as I had suspected, some of the connections were not great (9-10 ohms or so!) So I removed the terminal strips (with the components I had already soldered still attached) and scraped away the paint under the tabs of the strips to ensure a good connection. Re-testing showed virtually zero resistance. I'd strongly recommend scraping the paint away at all holes under the chassis before getting started on the build. Even better, suggest that Amplified Parts leave the inside chassis unpainted (at least around the important holes). Aside that one criticism, I am delighted with the kit and with Amplified Parts. Everything was delivered promptly and they are a class outift. I'll probably try some of their other kits soon.vpmerlyn
I spent three evenings building the MOD102. The instructions are very easy to understand and the amp has a great Fender sound. I had one grounding issue that was easily fixed with a little help from tech support, which was excellent. If you're good at following step by step instructions and can solder well this is a fun little amp to build. Only small issue is the labels. They could stand an improvement.Brandon
I just finished this amp build and it sounds fantastic! I also just finished a Marshall 18 Watt clone and I have to say that the Mod102+ holds its own very nicely alongside the Marshall. In fact, I will probably use the Mod102+ for recording because it sounds amazing at lower volumes (the Marshall is loud AF). Honestly, if I were only going to build one of them today, it would be the Mod. I'm blown away by the tone! Great kit with excellent instructions. Great bang for the buck. The parts all seem to be top quality. I love the old style cloth solid core wire, too. I find it much easier to work with than modern stranded wire. The labels are a bit lame but I covered them with packing tape as suggested before cutting them out and they look fine. If you're thinking about building an amp, build this one.danjbeckett

Great kit. Excellent components and very clear instructions. Took about 9 hours to complete and worked on "first fire." Great single-ended sound quality. Wonderful headphone amp and with the auto-biasing, many different power tubes can be used. I am using reissue Gold Lion KT88 power tubes and RCA clear-top 12AU7A drivers. I recommend highly this fun-to-build and great sounding amp.eickmewg
Wonderful amplifier and plenty of volume thru 92db speakers. I enjoy not having to fiddle with bias as well as only needing 2 tubes for output and input..easier to get a full compliment of tubes. I wired a toggle switch to move between triode and ultra linear, a nice addition.arnran
I was interested in tube amps for last few years, since I heard dynamics and sound quality of Audio Note. It was too expensive for me, but I thought- one day… But then I found reviews of Elekit preamp and amp kits. Read a lot of info. Learned, how to solder. Bought everything, whats necessary for building this kit, and I bought the kit. I made it without any troubles. And I am no longer interested in Audio Note "lowest price range" amps, because Elekit 8200 sounds as good or even better for me, and there are very big room to modify it with capacitors, resistors, tube selection.unosworkshop

I got this as a Christmas gift. I never built an amp before but I do have good solder experience and general electrical knowledge. The amp worked perfectly on the first build. After following all the testing procedures I plugged in and it worked perfectly. I am extremely pleased with the sound quality. I have owned 2 other tube amps and neither sounded this good. It is surprising how low the noise is and how great it sounds. The other interesting thing is the pedals I have sound better in front of this amp versus any amp I have ever used them on. My tube screamer pedal sounds amazing in front of this amp. The gain is all there with less noise and better voicing. I have no idea why that is but I could not be happier.
I recently completed the British 18W head kit from Tube Depot, and can't say enough good things about it! From start to finish, the kit exceeded my expectations. Ordering, shipping, and customer service were top-notch. No issues with components. The instructions and documentation were amazing, worth their weight in gold. The end result was an amplifier that sounds incredible! I incorporated a few of the suggested options- PPIMV, Tremolo HI/LO sw., Tube/SS Rectifier sw., and choke. The sound is amazing, I'm finding it very difficult turning the amp off- once I start playing through the amp I don't want to stop. I would absolutely recommend Tube Depot for anyone interested in building a guitar amplifier. The clear, well-written instructions really made this an enjoyable project. This was my first amplifier build, and I had no issues thanks to the great documentation.Dave R
I ordered this kit with a mod to use KT 66 power tubes. The changes were easy to make and it sounds fantastic. The classic JTM 45 tone at a manageable volume level with the master volume control. Just to test it out I've used a power soak and the tone is exactly the same using the master volume. A couple of real nice features of the design are the negative feedback switch and the ability to switch between solid state and tube ratification (the tube sounds better to my ears). Great product!Clint

13. Dr. Z Z-Master 30-Watt 3×10" Tube Combo Amp Sweetwater Exclusive
Product Details:
Joe walsh signature tube combo. it took over 50 years for joe walsh to put his signature on a guitar amplifier, but with the dr. z z-master, he finally did it. and it was worth the wait! patterned after a long-lost vintage combo from his past, the z-master delivers a tube-soaked tone versatile enough to accommodate joe’s playing style and his vast, unique collection of guitars. experience an impressive range of sonic textures thanks to two internally blended voices with independent volume knobs. then fine-tune your sound with bass, treble, and presence controls. integrating your pedalboard with the z-master is a breeze, thanks to its high-headroom design, but crank it up and you’ll need to watch out — it can get pretty rowdy when it has to. the z-master exhibits a one-of-a-kind voice that’s as unique as the man whose signature is displayed on its eye-catching, vintage-style grille. – note: the z-master’s impedance mismatch is intentional and is a crucial part of the tone and feel of the amplifier. – joe walsh’s ’57 bandmaster — the one that got away. in 2018, joe walsh approached dr. z, asking him to re-create his favorite amp of all time: a ’57 tweed bandmaster. joe revealed that he had parted with this amp in the early ’70s (gifting it to pete townshend) and had lived with regret ever since. z re-created the classic 3 x 10" combo from the ground up, complete with a to-spec replica of its paper-wound triad 1848 transformer. the design was then tweaked to joe’s specifications, adding dual internally blended voices for tonal versatility and a beefed-up power supply for pedalboard-friendly headroom. the final result was then road-tested by joe throughout his 2018 tour schedule before he gave it his final seal of approval. – two voices blend to create endless tonal textures. the dr. z z-master was patterned after joe walsh’s beloved ’57 tweed bandmaster. like the magical amp that inspired it, the z-master boasts two distinct voices: a warmer one and a brighter one. but rather than splitting these voices into two channels, the z-master combines the two sounds internally — no channel-ganging required. each voice is then controlled by independent controls, dubbed vol. 1 and vol. 2. the guitarists at sweetwater have found that by manipulating these controls, you can achieve an endless array of 3-dimensional, harmonically rich tonal textures. – special-designed eminence speakers deliver a one-of-a-kind sound. inside of the z-master lurks three eminence speakers that were designed especially for the amp. built to dr. z's exacting specifications, these three 10" speakers include alnico slug magnets, a vintage paper voice coil, a split ribbed cone, and a felt dust cap. these special-designed eminence speakers are an important part of the z-master's one-of-a-kind sound. – a clean-sounding combo with a rowdy personality. at prudent listening levels, the dr. z z-master is a clean amp with headroom to spare. it makes a great pedal platform, thanks to a sustaining clean tone that’s brimming with detailed shimmer and percussive punch. that said, if you plug your ears and crank its twin volume controls, the z-master gets really rowdy really fast, dishing out thick tube overdrive and saturation (think pete townsend’s tone on who’s next). but even when it’s cranked to the max, the z-master cleans up nicely with your guitar’s volume knob. 30w, 3 x 10" joe walsh signature combo amp. patterned after joe’s long-lost ’57 tweed bandmaster. to-spec replica of a vintage paper-wound triad 1848 transformer. loaded with 3 x 12ax7s and 2 tung-sol 5881s for pure tube-soaked tone. 2 internally blended voices with independent volume controls achieve an endless array of 3-dimensional, harmonically rich tonal textures. bass, treble, and presence controls offer further tone shaping. special-design eminence speakers were built to dr. z's exact specifications. high-headroom design makes it a great pedal platform. goes from clean to rowdy when you crank up the volume. 3 x 10" paper voice-coil alnico speakers and ultra-resonant cab for a total weight of 42 lbs.. guitar amps – guitar combo amps – dr.
14. Vox Ac4tvmini 4w Tube Guitar Combo Amp
Product Details:
Very nice little amp with a good sound despite the size. not a ton of tonal variety; but what it does, it does well. switchable output levels from 4 watts to 1/10 of a watt. the tone control doesn't seem to make a ton of difference in the sound, what it does is very subtle. i don't know if that was how they are made or not. i bought the amp new several years ago. i had it open to change the tubes a couple years back and couldn't see anything not attached or anything like that. amp is in very good cosmetic condition with just a little bit of wear in the tolex on the upper rear corners.

Reviews:
I LOVE the 5F1 kit: This was really enjoyable to build, and I had the benefit of a pro adviser to help me when I had questions, so I can even say it was easy. I am going to go as far as to say it sounds really fantastic. I use this amp almost all the time now, and with an attenuator, I can crank it all the way up and play at bedroom levels with the crunchy tube tone I crave, without disturbing the neighbors. It is every bit as great sounding as my Victoria REGAL. If you don't know what that amp is, it is all tube, has a variable power output all the way up to 35W, driven through a 15" speaker with reverb and tremolo. Obviously, this Champ kit is only 5 W, and doesn't even have an EQ (or any other frills whatsoever) and YEAH, it sounds THAT good. Rich harmonics, great crunch when cranked, sounds clean at level 3 or below, and responds well to the volume knob on your guitar. It is incredible. BUY IT!Bobby Bellpepper
Excellently documented for an easy build. Works and sound nice too.
This is really a superb kit! I have assembled electronic kits for over 50 years, including Knight Kits from Allied Radio and HeathKit. I did not think I would ever see a kit as nice those once made by these now long gone companies. But Tube Depot has surpassed anything I have ever seen before. Components are all good quality and every single part is individually packaged and marked. Printed instructions were included, which I was not expecting. The instructions are excellent. My amp passed all tests and worked perfectly the first time I turned it on. The sound is superb, much nicer than the Vox AC15 which I purchased fully assembled. I don't really need another guitar amplifier, but this little 5 watt practice amp is so nice and was such a pleasure to build, I will probably end up buying another of your kits anyway! I will probably sell the AC15 and replace it with one of Tube Depot's larger British style amps with a 12 inch speaker cabinet. Do not hesitate to buy this kit! You will not be disappointed.

19. 14-Watt Guitar Amplifier With Brownface Tone Stack Kit
Product Details:
S kit is a very clean-sounding 14-watt guitar amplifier with a brownface tone stack. this is great for learning new songs or just playing along with your favorite music. the brownface tone stack was incorporated in fender amplifiers starting in 1959 and were used until 1963. it was used in tube amps with a great sound. we have adapted the brownface tone stack and our version sounds great. it has a treble and a bass control which are both active. it will accept your guitar input via a 1/4" phono jack with a high-impedance fet. the guitar sound is then routed thru a brownface tone stack which consists of a bass and treble controls. it is then fed to a pre-amplifier prior to going into a 14-watt audio amplifier. connect the output to your speaker cabinet for a neat experience. the pcb is is approx 3.8" wide x 4.8" deep. it is physically the exact same dimensions as the 14-watt baxandall amplifier we also offer. the output is available at a 1/4" jack and at a rca terminal. you get both in the kit. the operating voltage is 12vdc. it has two 1000uf capacitors on the input power for additional filtering. you will need a 12vdc power supply capable of delivering at least 2 amps, a 20-watt or better power supply will work just fine. this is a kit. you will need soldering tools and supplies. a 4 to 8 ohm, 10w speaker is required, none is supplied. we also offer this as a built & tested unit for those that do not want to build it themselves.
20. Tw Express Style Tube Amp Kit With Chassis Included – In Stock & Ready To Ship!!
Product Details:
Kit version a tw express style amplifier. one of the most touch sensitive high gain circuits ever designed. while the control layout may seem minimalistic (volume, treble, mid, bass, presence), this amplifier is certainly not a one trick pony. the beauty of its design is how easily you can alter the sonic response with your guitar alone. by using pickup selection, and tweaking your volume & tone controls, you can easily dial in your perfect tone on the fly. unlike most amplifiers that sound weak and muddy when your guitar's volume control is rolled back, the express retains nearly all of it's volume, and your guitar's volume control acts more like a gain control. if you're using a guitar with les paul style controls, by rolling back the volume on your neck pickup, you can use your pickup selector to toggle between shimmering clean (neck), and searing lead (bridge) tones. the kit includes a high quality, handmade in usa turret board set, mallory 150 series (or sprague orange drop) coupling capacitors, sprague atom power supply, bias supply, and bypass caps. high quality carbon film resistors, alpha potentiometers, belton sockets (with shields & base clips), cliff jacks, nkk impedance selector switch, fuse holder, power cord, power transformer, and output transformer. transformers are made in usa! the power transformer has a dual primary of 120/240v. the output transformer has outputs for 4, 8, & 16 ohms. we will also include all the cloth push-back wire you need to do the job. chassis is included. please note that this kit is intended for the intermediate to experienced builder. while the circuit may seem fairly simple, high gain amplifiers such as this require a great attention to detail and clean lead dress. the power supply caps in this kit should be secured to the chassis and stacked using a silicone caulk (just like the original amplifier). this type of caulk can be easily found at most home improvement stores. if you purchase this kit "with tubes" you will receive: jj el34 matched pair, & jj ecc83/12ax7 x 3pcs. wiring layout: tw express wiring layout
