Reviews:
I really like these picks. The thumb and finger make skin contact through the star-shaped hole. For some reason this works for me to almost eliminate pick dropping. It also gives a tactile point of reference when holding the pick. You know exactly where the pick is between the thumb and finger. The hole also acts as a pivot point if your are changing between the blunt side and the point of the pick. Not everyone likes these picks, but come to think of it, I don't like everyone. Give 'em a try and remember to choose your friends wisely.Joe Picker
I used to hole-punch the centers of my picks to help with grip. The star shaped hole on Star Picks does it one better by adding little teeth that grip even better. I have liked these for years and usually bought them singly or in packs of a dozen because that's the way they came. A bag of 50 for this price is terrific. After trying many gauges, I settled on the 0.60 thickness with 0.73 now and then, so I bought a bag of each. Like I said, if you already like these picks, buying them 50 at a time is great. I haven't seen it offered that way anywhere else.Fretts
I have pretty dry hands and dropping picks became an unwelcome pastime. I found my first Star Grip picks in a small music shop in Vancouver when i bought my 12-string. At the time i bought 12 of them – about 8 years ago. Over time my supply dwindled to 3 that i kept in my pocket. When one of the three broke, i vowed to find replacements – although none of the stores i frequented carried them. Until i found Musician's Friend and the rest is history.Jeep

Reviews:
Overall: This pick is incredible and I'd so close to on par with Blue Chip. This is nothing like the 'plasticy' grip version of the prime tone with the raised print. That picks produces a lot of pick noise and some harsher highs. This smooth pick produces a much more 'even' sound the blows the grip version and normal ultex out of the water.Mike
I use these playing mandolin. I actually prefer the 1.3-mm picks for bluegrass, but the 1.5's are particularly nice when we're playing jazzy stuff like Django Reinhardt. They have a slightly less bright tone than the 1.3's, a very smooth feel across the strings, and they're thick enough not to have any give. Great for fast, smooth melodic lines. A little pricey compared to the regular Ultex picks I can get at local guitar shops, but I don't think I can ever go back.Moss Piglet
These picks sound great, have a great feel and grip, and keep an edge for a long time. Using .73's. I've been using the same pick daily for a couple months now mostly on electric. They work great for acoustic too. The wear is even and the edge doesn't get all ragged as happens with most picks. Price is higher than most picks but worth it as they'll easily outlast most others. I've used Blue Chip, V Pick, and Red Bear on the high end. On the low end I really like the sound and feel of Ernie Ball medium acetates, but I'll easily go through one or two or more of those in a show or a couple a week at least if just playing at home. I bought a bag of 144 because they're cheap and I go through them. As soon as the edge starts to go, they get burrs and a ratty edge and they start to sound raspy on the string. The Primetone lasts and sounds great. Looks and feels a lot like a Blue Chip TD 35 which is a $35 pick. I don't feel the need to experiment with high end picks anymore as Primetone, to me, are just as good as anything out there. I know they are made of Ultex, but they somehow sound and feel different/better than the regular Ultex. They wear much better and are a touch brighter and more articulate and slightly stiffer feeling so the response is a little quicker.Andrew

4. Dunlop Tortex Guitar Pick
Product Details:
First released in 1981, tortex picks were originally intended to be a high quality replacement for tortoiseshell. jim dunlops trail-blazing creation became so much more than that, however, establishing its own identity and becoming the new standard by which all other picks are judged.building on the precision, consistency, and color-coded gauge system he introduced with nylon picks, jim resolved to create a pick with a bright and snappy attack, superior memory and durability, and an improved grip. he chose delrin as his base material and then spent more than a year developing a special treatment process to draw out its full potential. this treatment process is what sets tortex picks apart from all others, providing their unique grip-enhancing matte surface and aggressive attack. finally, jim expanded on his previous picks color-coded gauge system to create the bright and timeless palette that has become an industry standard. the turtle logo is instantly recognizable, and the vibrant tortex palette has become a gauging shorthand for guitar players. go into any music store and ask for green or yellow pickschances are, youll be shown a pack of tortex .88mm or .73mm picks. countless musicians across the world, representing every genre and playing style, have chosen tortex picks to help them do what they love.made in the usa.
Reviews:
I would never use these on guitar. Guitar strings are too close together to make it work. But if you play bass, especially a P Bass. You will love these. I recommend trying out all of the different gauges to see what you like best. It gives that classic meaty picked bass tone featured in many classic recordings.Undisclosed
The heavy tortex is a great deal and durable, if you don't lose picks constantly, like I do! It plays well, and the surface feels good. It's easy to grip, and easy on your wallet when you lose 3 in one show. I've been playing jamband music with Blue and Green tortex for 2 decades, and there's just no reason to change. You get the sounds you make, and learning to play with a heavier pick helps develop speed and competent aim. Flimsier picks break on me, but the tortex never has. Not once, not even the lighter guages.Freak Flag '81
Jazz iii picks are by far my favourite picks. This pick, along with the jazz iii nylon (black) make the perfect combo for all my needs. This pick in particular provides a great attack on strings with great precision. Does not flex at all, meaning every note is articulate and allows you a quick access to your next note (perfect for alternate picking). Since this pick is thicker and tougher than the nylon jazz iii, it adds some treble to your sound – perfect for strats and achieving some cool country tones. Plus, with this flashy colour you'll never lose your picks again 😉 Highly recommended.Ram
5. Dunlop 12 Pack Nylon Standard .88 Mm Guitar Picks
Product Details:
The humble plectrum is more commonly known as a pick. jim dunlop nylon picks are available in a wide variety of gauges to suit the differing styles of guitar playing. players normally try using different types of plectra in order to find one that suits their own playing style best.of all the picks on the market, nylon is the most popular, with a smooth and slick surface. nylon is a flexible material and can be produced in very thin sheets. most thin and extra-thin picks are made of nylon. however, this material does loses its flexibility after 1-2 months of extensive use. nylon becomes fragile and breaks which is why guitarists that use thin nylon picks should have several spare plectrums just in case.guitar picks vary in thicknesses to accommodate the wide range of playing styles and different kinds of strings. thinner plectra are more flexible and tend to offer a wider range of sounds from soft to loud. they produce a "click" that emphasises the attack of the picking, however, some argue that heavier picks produce a brighter tone.
Specifications:
Gauge | 0.88mm |
Reviews:
I've been playing guitar and bass for more than 7 years, and during that time I've tried lots of different picks. However, I always come back to these 1 millimeter nylon picks. I love the way they feel in my hand, especially the way the rough surface on the edge makes it easier to grip. They even add a bit of volume to my dreadnought acoustic guitar, which makes them great for intimate live shows where you don't have a mic. They're not quite as durable as some Dragon's Heart picks I've tried (which are also great), but they're cheap enough that it doesn't hurt too much if they wear out or get lost. They're simple, reliable, and a pleasure to use.Laakso
I like the shape, and the dunlop logo on the pick is embossed which gives it good grip. But the material used is garbage quality. They get burned out faster than anything else I've ever used. After a couple days I noticed the pick I was using was snagging the strings, inspected it closely and noticed there were indentations and the edge was textured. Needless to say at that point the pick is bust. I've already gone through 5 of them since I got the order. Never had this issue with any of the dozens of brands I've had.jd1337
These for me are ideal picks. They come in a range of thicknesses so affording different levels of flexibility for different styles of playing. But most importantly, they have a positive grip surface. My hands a quite dry, so the usual polished surface of picks means they easily slip in my fingers. These picks do not slip at all. Like most picks they are incredibly hard wearing and relatively cheap to buy.tonzi34

Gravity picks are very similar in material to V-Picks, but there is no comparison when it comes to the picking edge. The Gravity picks seem generically stamped out and the V-picks seem shaped perfectly for the natural angle of playing. I have no affiliation whatsoever with V-picks, I tried several similar models in both brands, they feel similar in your hand, but Gravity picks just don't glide across the strings in the same way. Try them nonetheless and see for yourself. They certainly are not bad picks and I'd review them more favorable if I didn't have experience with their closest competitor.gravysoppers

This is perfect for beginners and anyone wanting to test out a few different picks. Definitely worth going for if you don’t know what suits you best. I made the mistake of buying a single type before and it just wasn’t right but these are all great quality and has really helped me realise what thickness/size/grip is best for me. Jim Dunlop seems undeniably the best brand so this is the ideal product. So, so pleased at this incredibly good price.KerryCOYS
