Reviews:
I was recommended this bass preamp almost 20 years ago. I've been through a TON of boutique equipment since then, trying to find 'my sound' and figured..what the heck, let me give this pedal a try. It makes EVERYTHING sound better! If you play on other peoples rigs from time to time, bring this!!! You'll be so much happier you did! You can find 'your sound' on almost any rig with this little guy. I'm a gear snob, I like 'my sound', which is clear, clean, and with a little bit of tube breakup while grinding in on my jazz. My sound is a cross between Flea and Marcus Miller. My boutique equipment gives me this on its own. When I'm forced to play a Behringer single 15" cab with no tweeter and no usable EQ because its the backline, the Sans Amp will be definitely utilized that night! Do yourself a favor and grab one of these pedals! Even if you keep it in you bag as a backup DI. It's like having a preamp and/or a DI at your disposal in case you needed to go straight to the house.DT
Bought this to see about going straight to p.a. And monitor. Initial impressions very good. Even with tone controls flat it seems to improve the sound compared to going straight into the desk. More depth and detail? Not sure if they’re the right words but they’ll have to do! It now sits at the end of the line on my tiny pedal board. Other pedals are boss tuner, boss bass chorus and ebs billy Sheehan pedal. Simples!Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
Here's why I love this thing. First, I prefer passive basses. Second, when gigging I need fast access to three basic tone signatures — a mid-boosted one for a balanced mix with the band, a bottom-heavy grindy one for heavy lifting, and a scooped one for funk and solos. Program those in, and good to go, with the option to tweak them a bit for conditions without permanently altering the setting. Third, after years of lugging heavy, bulky head units I now feed the Sansamp into a 1000W ultralite power amp and have all the headroom I need, without the pain. Fourth, whenever I meet a new sound man at gigs the first thing I hear is "Sweet, a Sansamp DI." Fifth, hand-built like a tank in NYC. I'm sure I can list more, but you get the idea. I've been using it for three years now and won't ever go back to onboard preamps, either on the bass or on the head unit.Casey Ess

Product Details:
The emg bqc system is a complete control system for bass guitars. active balance, master volume, and eq circuits are included. the eqs allow you separate control over bass, midrange, and treble all via 2 concentric/stacked pots. rotate the control clockwise to boost, counterclockwise to cut. there is a center detent for flat response. the mid-range control has a variable frequency knob that allows you to sweep through the mid-frequency range from 100hz to 1khz. this selects the frequency to boost or cut.
Specifications:
Reviews:
Overall: I have put this preamp in two of my basses now and I absolutely love it. Super easy to install with no issues!!! This preamp has several cool features I love. For me the best part is being able to select the exact mid frequency you want to boost or cut. It’s also super cool that there are four different curves you can choose from on the treble boost/cut. All these features make for a very versatile preamp you can use to dial in any sound you want right on your bass.In response to the other review on here I don’t know what that guys problem was. When you install the knobs you just have to make sure you leave a little space between the knobs and the nut below them. All you have to do is just lift up slightly on the knob while you tighten the set screw.Timothy
Overall: Dont even bother with this junk…..Will never EVER buy again. EVER!!!!If I could give this system a 0 instead of 1 star I would. I bought this set close to a year ago and it has been a nightmare the whole time. The biggest problem with this system is the "d" shape shafts on the concentric pots. I tried knobs that I had ordered for this upgrade and they did not work very well because the upper small knob kept dragging on the top of the bottom larger knob. I contacted EMG and they said that they sold knobs on their website so I ordered those knobs. They did the same thing. I contacted them again and they wanted me to send them the set with the plate where the pots were attached to. I sent them the whole thing yet they could not fix the problem and sent it back to me with no solution. They are not willing to give me back my money so a year later and I am still stuck with this useless set from EMG. I have installed many high end preamps and also cheap preamps from China and all the pots are always smooth. EMG should be embarrassed to sell this junk. Right now it is still in its box not being used because when I tried to use it the knobs kept sticking and it was very embarrassing. NEVER AGAIN will I by from EMG. They have really let me down. I am at the process of contacting the commerce department in their area to file a complaint. All this calamity because they want to save a buck.Sotero

Reviews:
Very simple and straightforward. The scales are organized by key, which makes it easy to find what you're looking for based on a root note or basic progression. There's even a brief explanation on scales in the back of the book. This is a great book for people who already have a basic understanding of scales. But this book isn't the be all end all of scale education. For the price, it's a great. There's a guitar scales version of this book that is also great. Anyone wanting to learn scales should definitely use this book. But if you really want to learn what scales are and how to use them, you'll want to find something to accompany this.

6. Tech 21 Sansamp 3-Channel Programmable Bass Driver Di – Bass Effects Pedals – Effects – Pbdr
Product Details:
Really solid preamp with three programmable channels. in good working order and fair aesthetic condition — i'd put it at 6/10 there. there are scratches on all sides of the casing, hook velcro on the back, and i removed the rear battery compartment door so that the pedal sits flat on a pedalboard. the #1 footswitch sticks occasionally, but it was nothing problematic for me during the two years i had it on the road. comes with the original box, though the box has definitely seen better days.

7. M80 Bass Di And Distortion Pedal
Product Details:
The mxr m-80 bass direct box with distortion is more than just a direct box. it's got so many features, you may wonder how you ever did without it! it includes a distortion channel with gain, volume, and blend controls; a noise gate to help keep it clean; a color control; and 3-band eq control that lets you dial in any tone you need. it also provides phantom power, and sports a parallel output jack for flexibility in routing. whether you like it sweet and clean or hot and nasty, this di does it all.
Specifications:
Input Impedance | 2.2 Megaohm |
Unbalanced Output Impedance | 150 Ohms |
Balanced Output Impedance | 300 Ohms |
Bypass | Buffered |
Power Supply | 9 V |
Reviews:
This MXR covers all of the tones I need. I am playing a passive bass through a PA. I mainly need some boost and some color. This works great. I rarely use the distortion. The pedal really add to the bottom end. I reduces that hollow tone you can get playing live in an acoustical challenging room.
Whenever I turn on this pedal, distortion or not it sounds like someone just woke up a beehive, The actual clean sound is pretty good but when you really dig into the pups it starts to make that pop sound louder which is a big issue for me at least, (shouldn't be due to volume increase) when the distortion is on, there's even more buzz AND it's a very bad distortion. The distortion also doesn't have a wide range of sounds and is only really usable at minimum gain and the blend knob almost all the way back, just get an OD , and an EQ pedal, trust me.Undisclosed
I typically run a clean bass signal with no effects (except for a compressor pedal). I purchased this pedal because of the DI, Equalizer control, Distortion (as needed) and 9v operation. (1) The DI sounds pretty good and records clean. (2) The Equalizer control is a little too sensitive for my taste, but it does shape the sound as expected. I feel that a +/- 12db 4-band Equalizer would have been better with frequency bands of 80Hz, 360Hz, 800Hz and 5kHz. (3) The Distortion is pretty good and fits the bill when needed. Like most distortion pedals, it is slightly thin when "on". But this pedal can balance a clean (low) and distorted tone for a good balance. (4) The pedal operates on the same 9v supply/polarity that virtually all other pedals operate on (center negative). I find this convenient when operating all pedals on my Big Joe Lithium Power Supply. In summary I'm happy with my purchase and it resides in my set-up all of the time.SLoveland

Specifications:
Reviews:
5 string bass in burley wood. Fit and finish first class. Unbelievably light. Fantastic value for money. Mine played very badly out of the box, with the neck seemingly overdone on the truss rod. Relaxed that a turn, set intonation and saddles and it's pretty good now imo. Think it would benefit from having some frets filed a bit. But all in all it's excellent for the money. I could spend 3-4 times as much for the next up cheap 5 string, but I doubt it would play better and I bet it would be significantly heavier.
My second Glarry bass. the first purchase was a 4 string fretless – flawless instrument. Obviously I was happy with it – I bought another instrument. This 5 string arrived today. I spent a brief time setting up the action, as you would need to do with any new instrument. It was not at all necessary to have a shop do it, as they send the tools you need included with the instrument and it is great for a player to be able to do this themselves- it will make you a more knowledgable player and take additional pride in ownership. But the real reason for leaving this review is to convey just how great the quality is. My wife's initial reaction: "that is beautiful – a work of art!", and she is so correct. Having owned many basses and played for 35+ years, this is as good as any bass I have had. You will see many other reviews state the same thing. The action, the finish, the sound – there is nothing to complain about, even if you took the affordable price out of consideration. Buy one of these now before they figure out they could charge 2-3x as much and I would still recommend buying even at those prices. I am installing a thumb rest on it and using this the next weekend for a songwriter showcase. Can't wait to see what compliments I get on it. Glarry, you guys do a great job and my hat is off to you.
There's nothing really spectacular about this bass, except for possibly the bang for your buck. What you get is a fairly well made solid instrument that does the job without any unnecessary frills! Mine arrived well packaged and in good condition. There are a couple of minor finish blends, but they aren't noticeable if you're more than a foot away. The set up was nearly spot-on, only a few minor adjustments were required. The neck and fretwork were well done. Frets are smooth with no sharp ends. The fretboard is dry, but that is somewhat expected, and not a big deal. I did send the back of the neck with 1000 grit paper so it is now silky smooth and plays great. The pickups sound very good, though the volume puts taper rather abruptly. Overall, this is a good sounding, very playable bass! I am a happy Glarry customer once again!
9. Tech 21 Sansamp Vt Bass Di
Product Details:
Have you ever arrived at a venue or a studio assuming there would be a decent quality di? it doesn't always work out that way. for the pro on the go, the vt bass di covers a lot of ground in a small footprint. this multi-function, multi-application format features three different outputs. you can complement your current rig, record direct, drive power amps and go direct to the pa. just throw it in your gig bag and you're ready at a moment's notice.like its sibling, the original vt bass, you can get the same legendary tower of power tone pumping through a stack of 10-inchers. this is for players who enjoy being heard. from chunky funk with the ubiquitous flip top, to the higher gain growl of indie rock. the vt bass di incorporates a blend control to adjust the ratio of direct signal and sansamp circuitry, and a bite switch to engage a presence boost and a subsonic filter.with the vt bass di, you can go from clean svt-style thump to dirty earthquaking rump. no matter which way you dial it in, it all sounds massive.
Specifications:
Reviews:
There are many other uses for this pedal, however I was primarily going for a clean Ampeg SVT sound with the "Ultra Low" and "Ultra High" on. I feel this pedal sounds very close, and really gives my 4 x 10 cab some clean deep thump while still articulating those higher tones. The pedal has the ability to really add some gritty overdrive tones, but I prefer more of the clean crisp thump. I have been after that tone for some time, and this is the closest I have been able to get. The user manual is very helpful with a lot of control setting examples so that you can dial in a tone right away without having to play with it. Right now, I am running the MarkBass Compressore and this Sansamp VT Bass DI with my Yamaha Attitude 3 bass. Love the tone that I am getting, and have gotten many compliments on it.
I have owned it for about three weeks, and I like it a lot so far. I play rock and to me this is the sound I want. You can dial in a nice flavor of distortion that pairs well with an electric guitar and drums. For two hundred clams it really does sound like a cranked tube head. I run it direct to a CAPI vp26 pre amp for recording and its never been easier. I also use it as a pedal on my Ampeg micro vr and it sounds sweet. I tried it through my Fender solid state Bassman 100 and did not like it as much as the Ampeg. It has a lot of features for shaping your tone plus you can stereo split it if you want.T.S.
After years of hearing about the VT Bass series, I finally went for the VT Bass DI. I have mostly tried it out as a preamp so far, being plugged straight into the FX loop's "return" jack of my GK 1001RB-II, through two Ampeg Classic 410HEN cabinets. The range of tones in the "Character" control alone is absolutely amazing. The "Bite" effect reminds me of the SVT's "Ultra-Hi" treble boost, and I dig the way the VTDI's "Blend" is interactive with the "Character" and "Drive" controls, while having no effect on the EQ section. Get one. You won't regret it!meatwad

I ordered this to replace the malfunctioning preamp in my Peavey Cirrus USA 5 string bass. Had to do some modification with the wiring since the factory pickups aren't EMGs. Sounds amazing! This is actually the third one that I've purchased (I installed one in my Spector Legend 5 Custom, one in my Peavey Cirrus USA 5, and THIS one that I'm going to install into my Cirrus USA 6). I used to not be a fan of stacked mid controls, but the BQS system changed my thinking!bassdude70

Reviews:
I had been using a Line 6 G-50 pedalboard mount system for several years with no issues. Then started playing a club where I was getting dropouts so bad, I was unable to use it, even if I stood directly over the pedalboard/receiver. Discovered a wall mounted, 'industrial strength' WIFI router on the wall, hidden behind a curtain, just behind where I was standing. The wifi was knocking out my 2.4GHz signal. I really loved the digital quality, and didn't want to give it up, but most new systems are on the 2.4 range. I ultimately found the Sure PGXD and realized that it was the 'best of both worlds'… Old school UHF Frequency, with digital signal processing, (does not use a compander, like analog UHF systems have to use). I've had it for 6 months now, and gigging every weekend without even a slight hint of a dropout, and the range is incredible! Even at the club with the WiFi Router that started it all, I have walked through the game room area, out of the back door, and back in through the front door while playing lead, and every note came out loud and clear!!! Best wireless I've Ever had, and I've had a lot of them! I would give it a 10 star rating if it were ?available!!!
Overall: Was originally shopping for a Samson Airline unit so I didn't to deal with a body pack unit, but then stumbled upon the Shure PGX Digital system, and after comparing digital to the UHF of the Airline unit, I decided to go with the Shure unit for cleaner, more accurate sound. So far, I'm very happy with my choice! The system is quick and easy to set up, extremely simple to operate (unless you WANT to get more complicated, then it offers those options), has surprisingly good battery life on the body pack transmitter, excellent range, and so far has been free of any kind of interference. One of my many reasons for choosing this unit is the use of two AA batteries for the body pack. They're cheap, readily available most anywhere you go, and you don't have to deal with remembering to keep anything charged up! While I was tempted by one unit that was powered by a built-in rechargeable LiIon battery, I realized it was just one more thing to remember. Now I just throw a handful of fresh AA alkaline batteries in the bag and not worry about it. So far I'm still on the original two, and this after an extended practice session at home to test the unit out and make sure I knew how it worked, three rehearsal sessions, and three gigs. Shure claims at least 10 hours of battery life… so far that is definitely true as I still haven't hit the low battery warning!Regarding the most important thing: Sound Quality! I can't hear any difference in the sound quality whether my bass is running corded or through the Shure PGX unit; it is that clean and natural. No loss of lows, clarity, or anything else. I'm extremely happy with it!If I had to pick on something, it would be the fact that I need to manually change to a new channel (frequency) in the event interference is encountered instead of it changing automatically. For a $400 unit, I'd much rather it scan and automatically change to a clear channel itself. Oh, and if a channel change is required, you have to sync the body pack manually. It only takes a few seconds to do, but it does not happen automatically! Just be aware of that fact when making a purchase decision!William
Sound: Totally transparent. I can't tell the difference between this system and a direct cable connection! Features: The construction is fine. High Quality impact-proof poly, feels like a high quality piece of equipment Ease of Use: Just plug-it in, sync, and go! Quality: Built better than a more expensive model I'd tried before. Value: Yes! Absolutely! Manufacturer Support: Shure is easy to reach and helpful online. They answered several questions for me on the phone prior to purchase! The Wow Factor: Great Appeal. It's small and light, and well designed. Overall: I've owned multiple 2.4 systems which were great 5-10 years ago, but which struggle in 2022. Ever since 2.4 became the "default" WiFi & Bluetooth frequency, drop-outs have become a constant struggle in venues. (considering almost everybody in the audience has a phone these days, and WiFi signals are literally everywhere) This system utilizes 900 hz (a cordless land-line frequency abandoned 20 years ago) so it never drops out, plus it has less latency than 2.4 or 5.8.

This was a refurbished item It Arrived with a broken power button and a non functioning light on the volume knob. So….. I popped the top, the push on/off power button was an easy fix and since the volume light has no impact on the function of the knob no biggie Everything else works as advertised For the money I'd say it's it's a good deal A lot of bang for the buckjamesjwljrocks
Endless possibilities. Instruction book/manual is terrible. Went on you tube and found a video on basic set up and it helped immensely. Once you get the idea, it is simple and makes sense. Best sounds and Uber customizable. I use it for bass but it can be used for just about any instrument from keyboard to guitar. Looks good in the rack. Can't beat the price!tesummerill
Pairing this with a foot controller, unlocks a lot of features and/or makes them easier to use while playing. There are a lot of tips online, but the major tip is with setting the overall input gain into the unit. When set properly, this thing behaves as it should. For my purposes (generally practice, jamming by myself), it's a great unit. Other uses I would recommend this preamp for are cover bands, studio/session bassists, anything where a variety of tones is necessary. This unit differs from a lot of other preamps, in that you can model different amps with different cabs, or turn that feature completely off, making this a bit less static than other similar preamps. The user interface is a bit of a learning curve, but once you start getting it down, you realize it's pretty intuitive and well thought out.monti2889
15. Radial Bassbone Od – Bass Preamp
Product Details:
The radial bassbone is a power-packed bass preamp that combines on-stage efficiency, amazing tonal control and superb audio performance making it the ideal front end for both live and studio recording. designed as a bass command center, the bassbone lets you connect two basses and seamlessly toggle between them using a footswitch. each channel is equipped with a separate level control to balance the two instruments. this is augmented with a unique eq that enables you to adjust the tone for each instrument to match with your bass amp. in fact, the eq is so powerful that you can toggle between channels to emulate switching from a p-bass to a rickey using the same bass! for added stage control, a second footswitch engages a power booster for soloing. this works double duty to turn on an effects loop. the bassbone's highly acclaimed audio circuit features full sized discrete electronics for optimal signal flow to deliver the sound of your bass to your amp with minimal distortion or artifact. outputs include a ¼" instrument output for the stage amp, separate always-on tuner out, and a built-in radial direct box to feed the pa or recording system.

My principal use of the Radial Bassbone OD is for playing a 2007 Yamaha TRB-1005 five-string active bass as accompaniment for a grand piano and 4-part choir at Sunday morning Mass in a church space that seats several hundred. I need to connect to both the house sound system and an amplifier. The Bassbone DI delivers a clean, quiet signal and it's great to be able to select post-EQ for the DI since the house sound is a non-adjustable, set-it-and-forget-it system. Also, the high pass filter switch has made it easy to get rid of the boominess I otherwise get in this space but keeps the clean fundamental tones I want. I run one pedal through the fx loop, always on. It's very convenient that there's always a signal to the tuner jack, even when the mute foot switch is engaged. That makes it possible to quickly tune before and during the service without having to separately mute the amplifier and the house sound. Because of the nature of the music and the setting, use of the overdrive circuit is limited, but I do find that with the Drive, Mix and Tone knobs turned down low, it still helps the notes "sing" a bit, which is effective on slower passages where notes benefit from a little more sustain. The EQ makes it easy to dial in a sound that supports what's coming out of the piano so the two instruments really sound like they belong together. At home, I also play a '73 passive P-bass through the Bassbone and have noticed the sound benefits considerably from the Drag adjustment available on Channel B. In combination with the EQ section and the Mid frequency select switch, I get the best sound from the P-bass I've ever had. So, for me, the Bassbone OD has great connectivity capabilities and makes it easy to get a pleasing and controllable sound. I'm not a professional player, but do have an obligation to have a professional sound for the type of music and the space where I play. That makes it well worth the price.AJ
Radial out did themselves on this one!!! Total control of tone and the overdrive is super dope! Must have!!!Aaron B
Bought this little gem used but in excellent condition. The first thing i noticed when taking this thing out of the the box was how solid and well built it really is. Not only are all the switches and knobs solid and well placed but it's all the little things that make this pedal so good. Having a pre – post switch on the DI, being able to set up the overdrive function for overdrive, efx or both. The PZB, Drag and Blend controls along with the fact of just having a knob to turn instead of having to scroll through a bunch of presets. I love the fact that I can switch between my fretted and fretless bass sound with just the click of the A/B switch. In my case I play a lot of gigs that are straight to the PA (no amp) and this pedal if perfect for this. My PA guy almost loves this pedal more than I do.Mr. Montuno

Easy to install ( if you know soldering ). Add tone versatility. Small footprint in the cavity. Good quality.gotflak88
This is the second one of these I've installed. The unit is sufficiently small it will fit almost anywhere. The circuit is very quiet and the choice of frequencies is very musical (in both positions of the treble switch). My one quibble (and the only reason I've dinged it one star) is the choice of knobs it comes with. I know I'm an old traditionalist but I'd like to bet a very few guitars come fitted with flat black control knobs. The additional expense of getting some chrome knobs to match all the other knobs hurts but c'est la vie.ndra2520

Lr Baggs bass Di pedal is amazing.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
Bought this for use with my bass based on the great experience I have had with the Venue DI for my acoustic. Easy to set up and very intuitive. Able to achieve all the tone shaping I need. You can do straight DI OR hit the foot switch and get extra shaping including a moderate OD. Highly recommend for any bassist who can or needs to go straight to the board. I would say it can even be used in recoding situations as well.spotmarker

Great buy. I'm running an aftermarket deck with aftermarket speakers on my stock amp and needed to separate the bass from my 10" kicker competition VX paired with a 1 ohm stable kicker amplifier because I couldn't set the bass down on the small speakers and the bass up on the subwoofer enough. It did the job extremely well. Now I have to worry about blowing out a window. The 3 frequency button is a huge help. Mine is set at 35hrz and both knobs full max. Amplifier gain a bit over 1/4 and bass boost, low pass filter set a bit over half way. It's definitely putting out over 130db blowing wind like a ceiling fan in an SUV.Robert
