Acoustic Guitar Loop Pedal For Sale (2024 Update)

I have rarely relied on a loop machine in my 33+ years of performing music. I've had a DigiTec JamMan for a long time but found it too difficult to co-ordinate short phrases into a piece. I used it more with sampling of ambient sound than musical phrases. I've only had the Boss RC-500 for a short time but already find it much easier to use. I haven't even experimented with the percussion aspects but I can see great possibilities. I'm a great fan of Boss and Roland. They make quality , well thought out, aids for musical expression. What a creative company they are, indeed!Ralph

Some of the functions I would have thought would be accessible through MIDI are not, but there are ways to work around most of them. Overall it seems like a great unit for a moderate price. The sound quality is very good. One disappointment is that I had the impression you could download rhythm patterns to replace the ones you don't care to use – you can't download them as rhythms, only as backing tracks. Look for the reference manual (not the owners manual) and study it before you buy if you have specific expectations.Glenn K

The biggest limitation was only being able to capture one idea at a time. I started looking around for something with more memory locations and I found the RC-5 as an upgrade. I am blown away by the included drums and the device's ability to determine the tempo. As a tool for capturing multiple ideas and being able to back them up to a PC, this is perfect. I haven't tested the midi capability yet. I could easily see using this in an actual performance in the future. It's pedalboard-friendly size makes it very easy to carry around.Joe G

Initial troubles with connecting to a computer, turns out it was my faulty USB cable (NU-X responded fairly quickly to me – which was good). However, the audio converter software from the NU-X website will not open on a Mac with Catalina as the Mac cannot verify the developer. You have to go into your Preferences and change your security settings to open the software. After that – OK. I'm still experimenting with the unit so I cant comment on that, but a list of the in-built rhythms (style, emphasis on '2' etc.) would be handy.Brendan Robb

Sonicake is the real deal. These guys design and make solid, great sounding and well-thought-out equipment. This looper is easy to use, compact, and comes with the features youd expect from boxes costing maybe twice as much. I've recorded my bands music since the '70's with reel to reel,8 track,cassette and 16 track equipment and overdubbing and syncing was a total nightmare. I really didn't expect much out of it just wanted to try it so I wouldn't have to play alone.It blew me awaythe first day I filled all the memory up in a matter of 2 hours. So I'm out in the garage just having a good time and I take a break. My wife comes out with 3 beers and looks around for the other person.Told her it was this little pedal and she could not believe it. Shes seen me through the years fighting with recordings and said don't ypu wish you had that 50 years ago.The pedal is accurate and easy to figure out and rather cheap but cost me a small fortune whn I went out and bought a new guitar to play and record with it!2014cuyl

I was planning on using it as extended, However, the sound quality of this pedal makes me question even using it. For the price I think you could find a better one . However I suggest to spend a bit more money for a good sounding pedalHermilo

It does what it says it does. I have no complaints there, but if you plan on buying one, go in knowing full well it's got a hard click button, and that button makes a noticeable sound when engaged(not overwhelming, but noticeable), and that sound will be a permanent part of your loop. Period. It also takes some time to get an accurate loop–I have 40+ years drumming, and have been practicing to a click the entire time, I have no problems gauging loop points(none what-so-ever), but the hard click makes it difficult to push down, and will sometimes stutter–not a good selling point for a loop pedal. That being said it's not suited to most live situations, maybe you could get away with some percussion sounds, or something similar where the click will be well disguised, and may even add something to the track, but not for something subtle. That's not to say it's a bad product. I use it all the time, mainly for recording bass guitar ideas on the fly. It's great for situations where you're working on an idea and need to record something fast and easy, and be able to add to it, or rewrite it on the fly. So as a composition tool it's great, and it really is, but for live situations, you might want to mod it by simply replacing that button(I plan to)–I have a sneaky suspicion that will fix all of its problems—sad no one caught that design flaw before it went to production–upgrading 10-cents to a better button would put this thing over the top .Zoran

Love this pedal. I just wanted a cheap, simple looper to work on soloing over chord progressions at home. This is perfect for that. One button controls everything – record loop, play, overdub, erase, undo, and stop. One volume knob to control output. LED lights tell you where you are in the loop so you know when to come in. And compact size takes up little space on my small board. Yes you do need a power adapter, but I just use my Donner daisy chain and it works great, no noise. I can't believe people are leaving bad reviews because it doesn't include a power adapter. Most pedals do not come with those.Brendan

I really like it, the sound quality is great has a ton of options and features and many customization abilities. In the back of the unit you have a lot of different inputs and outputs which is great you can connect many of your instruments and pro sound system as an output.Anonymous

I've had an Rc505 for a year or so now and was excited to get my hands on this RC600. The floor setup is great, although you can't quite do everything with your feet. With a shoe off you can do most of the functions with a toe, but you still have to bend over to mess with it. The included drum loops in this are a massive upgrade from the RC505. Tons of character and room to play around with there – even settings for fills etc at the end of loops. I've only had this two days, so I'll update my review after some more time with it, but so far I feel like it sounds better, the extra instrument and mic inputs are a huge boost, and overall it's been pretty easy to use coming from the 505.Sterling

The looper pedal has revolutionized songwriting as well as bedroom guitar practicing. Now rather than playing along with Jam tracks on the internet or just a metronome you can now play with yourself. You record the rythym guitar and add the drum track so you can practice your solos. It is a lot of fun.ricpierc16

The RC-2 is obviously a great entry level looper for the individual artist looking to get into the loop music area. Stores plenty of track time and is simple to use. Be careful when using an AC adapter that it is the correct polarity! Pin is ground, outer shield is the hot side. Don't make one yourself, they're cheap and easy to buy for $8-10. This model actually has a better drum selection that the RC-3 unit. A lot of musicians like the versatility of this unit as it mixes both vocals, instruments and various other effects. Although there's not a stereo input or output, I never felt I needed that so this is a perfect unit for my violin music. Quite easy to get the hang of using in the first hour or so. Very durable case, almost indestructible! the tiny knob screw at the front is taken out to expose the 9v battery under there. A good fresh Duracell lasted me about 6 hrs when I first started messing with it waiting for the AC adapter to arrive in the mail.cdennyb

The Boss RC-2 is a great pedal. I got mine for around $80, and there probably isn't a better compact looper for the money. I use it to compose so I don't need to switch loops quickly. The only downside is that you will need an external footswitch to unlock all of the potential features. If you need to switch loops quickly, check out one of Boss' larger pedals.llamalime

Ive used a good few lopper pedals before and this thing does it all with alot more style. The visual feed back Im getting form this looper is incredible it totally changes the looper pedal game. I noticed even with the stage fog on at fullblast I can see the screen very well. The color coding makes it easy to follow what Im doing at each moment. The screen is what allows the Aeros to combine paralel and sequential looping styles so well so its a huge plus. Using 6×6 mode is like having 6 loopers synced together all in one. I've have a few different loopers but this unit is like a recording studio that can quickly and easily recreate tracks that are in perfect sync. I have the Beat Buddy (drum pedal) that works in lock step with the Aeros. Can't say enough about this unit and the sound quality is excellent.Ger

This pedal was fairly cheap, and it does work, so I dont want to knock that part of it. However, The sound quality is terrible. I saw one review that said, after three or four layers of sound it starts to sound muddy. I feel that was an understatement. A single play back loop sounds muddy to me. Ill still use it to practice with, but Im not very impressed. Save your money, and buy a better quality looper.guitarded5150

Nothing is perfect so a 5-star rating on most anything isn’t very useful without critical review when trying to make a purchase decision so I would give it 2.5 stars if I could. The Trio+ concept was a good idea but in my view poorly executed and way over priced. Like many have already said, it is not generally easy to get a good result from the Trio+ Even after a few weeks of getting to grips with its functions. It’s hit and miss mostly when using it and mostly miss. “Sometimes” you can get “fairly decent“ results after multiple attempts but often the result is unusable. Their SDRUM product while not a looper provides better drum/bass accompaniment with much less fuss, is much easier to use and less expensive. The SDRUM coupled with their JamMan looper is far more intuitive and provides usable good results most of the time. I own both products and I use the SDRUM almost always instead of the Trio+. The trio+ just doesn’t live up to its cost or hype. Sometimes it works ok but just ok. If you get the results you want then maybe it’s for you but in my view I couldn’t in good faith recommend it to a friend so I definitely would not rec to a stranger. My advice is to get an SDRUM and if you need it get Digitech’s stand alone Looper to sync with it. That combo isn’t perfect either but far more satisfying and predictable to use. I do not recommend the Trio+ to anyone.Dennie

Wanna jam? No other players around? This dingus provides a competent backing band to solo or compose over. This gizmo does it all. Loop a phrase, play over it, start the band, and start on your extended musical forays. As satisfying a pedal as I've ever encountered. Very easy to use and built like a tank. I had to watch a few demo videos to learn how the controls worked and interacted but it didn't take but a few minutes. Playback quality is very good with tons of storage for created loops. My only issue is with what Boss calls "Drum Tracks". There's only 10 of them and their sound quality is piercing. You can load your own via the usb connection though. Also, it only stores wav files from external sources so converting songs you only have as mp3 etc. to wav is an extra step I could do without. I might just be nitpicking because otherwise it's a great looper with more features than most people will ever need. I'd highly recommend it to anyone.ethan1957

I bought this to compare to my ditto pedal. Its not nearly as simple to use, despite what people say. Okay, it might just be me, but the ditto is more intuitive to use. After you record the first loop, it automatically begins recording the overdub. With the ditto, it goes to pause when you complete a loop. So, yes, its a Boss pedal and built like a tank. But for me, its 50/50 with the ditto. You have to make your own decision about this one.jonaha650

Have been nothing but pleased with the Boss RC-1 loop pedal. I currently use it in conjunction with my Digitech RP1000 and it has really allowed me creative freedom while practicing. I bought this since the RP1000 only has a 20 second looping feature, while this one can go as long as I need. I like how you can easily layer riffs on top of one another, delete when you make mistakes, and stop altogether with just the stomp of the pedal. It's amazing. Nothing else to say. I used this at home with 10 other effect pedals. I really liked the sound quality and ease of use. I was very disappointed when the footswitch broke after about a year or so. Read online this brand has an issue with the switches so that's a deal breaker for me. I went with an MXR delay to replace it because I've had several MXR pedals for many years with great sound and no trouble.Scott

Perfect for practicing. Lay down a simple rhythm loop then you can practice over the top – it's like having an inexhaustible rhythm guitarist jamming with you. Easy overdubs & undos means you can also build up interesting sounds with lots of depth and different sounds. (tip: play your progression through, then without stopping hit the button on the 'one' beat to start recording, then hit it again on another 'one' beat to stop recording/start playing the loop. can be as many bars long as you like – 5 min recording time is way more than I'd ever need!) With only one button and one volume knob it's very simple to use. Many other loopers are so complicated (boss rc-3 I'm looking at you), they take the fun out of just plugging in and jamming. Of course if you need the complication of a drum machine built in to your looper pedal then this one isn't for you). The sound out of this thing is perfect. I use it with many pedals and they all sound great recorded and played back (an analog delay, a few fuzzes, metal zone, overdrive, distortion, phaser, big muffs, small clone, tube screamer) – just be sure to put the looper last in your pedal chain. I'd highly recommended this to anyone thinking about getting a looper. The build quality is great, the button feels sturdy & it's very small. The only thing I'd change about it would be to add the ability to export your recorded loop via the usb, but on this model the usb is only for updating it's firmware. While this pedal functions in a basic way the led tells you exactly what is happening and where you are in you loop. That knowledge makes me far more confident to use it live. You can end the playback and erase the loop silently or pause the playback and use it again – useful if a lead break is later in the song. You record the rhythm part, pause it and start it later on in the song. There options for adding extra pedal to control things but I found I got on OK without them. Basically a solid looper with a useful display that is, easy to read in a live situation. The trick to silently erase is to double tap and hold the second tap. Stops instantly and the erases a couple of seconds later – this isn't clear in the instructions.David M.

Ok. There are a bunch of different looper pedals available these days with a wide price range. I wanted a simple ( budget priced) looper to lay down ideas on the fly and groove over my rhythm. So..i put a microphone into this and record my rhythm into my Peavey mixer and jam away. I did notice that running this into my simple tube mic preamp (behringer w/ lower gain 5751) made a huge difference on the final sound. For the price of these little pedals…you can't go wrong. It even has a power supply included! Seems to function just like other loop pedals I have owned. Get your timing right ..start-end. Playback. Layer. Buy it!jammin_joemusic

Operations are not intuitive. Very frustrating, high learning curve. Too many possible setting selections to be done in a certain sequence. Reminds me of my first digital electric wrist watch instruction sheet. " Press 1, hold 2 for 3 seconds, press 1 once more, press and hold 1 and 2 once for each display item, press twice to delete, once more to set default…" Try to remember that each time you want to set the time or alarm. However—Once I learned how to use it, I totally love it. It's like a miniature recording studio. It will only accept a 1Gb or less memory card. Anything larger will not work. It has an input for both instrument and microphone. Most others only have one. Knowing precisely when to end recording takes a lot of practice. If not done exactly right, the playback loop will not be complete. I always start recording with the bass line, no vocals and always use the metronome, mic off. Once you're satisfied with that, you can overdub to your hearts content. I would recommend writing down exact initial startup settings for the mic and instrument volume knobs. That way, you can control recorded levels for vocals and instruments. If you are recording a song with dominant guitar presence, raise it a little before you start recording. If you want a soft harmony vocalin the background, lower the mic volume before starting. You cannot change individual track levels once they are recorded or overdubbed.ron6253

I've owned a Jamman Solo for a few years now and haven't spent much time with it for various reasons. When I finally got to spend some time, it was not that easy for me to use. I watched some You Tube videos on how to use it, which got me going faster than trying to read the manual, and I was overdubbing with ease on the factory pre-set loops. For some reason, which I haven't had time to figure out, I cannot create my own loop from scratch. I follow the directions, but I cannot even get started. The drum machine is hard for me to set at the right tempo. I know I need to read and reread the manual a few times to get there, but haven't been able to make the time. Another problem for me is being colorblind. I have trouble seeing the color(s) of the light(s) to know which mode I'm in, etc. So, today I decided to buy and try the JamMan Express XT. I can return it in 30 days if I don't like it, so I have nothing to lose. Other than getting my timing down, which I figured out fairly quickly, this thing is so easy to use, it amazed me. I created a loop, then added some overdubs and had such a great time with it in such a short time, I think I already know that I'm going to keep it. I wish the JamMan solo was this easy. I want to create some loops for keeps which cannot be done with the JamMan Express. I cannot wait to surprise my bass player next week when I can create a loop on the fly, add some overdubs, and we can jam along with it. I don't think us using a drum machine will hurt my creation of loops with this thing, it is incredibly easy to use compared to my old JamMan solo. Unfortunately, the JamMan solo is an older model and it does not have the sync inputs, but that won't stop me from using both, once I figure it out. I recommend the JamMan Express XT to anybody just getting started with using a looper pedal. The learning curve, mostly the timing, should not be too bad and as the Digitech Rep says, you can grow with it. If I find the need, I wouldn't hesitate getting another one. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because you can't save loops like you can with the JamMan Solo.joeprs

I'm a long time supporter of Boss products but I won't be using this pedal. I do not like that I have to double tap the Record/play pedal on the first loop to play without continuing to record. Record/play or record/overdub should be a user controlled option like on my RC-300. Loops can only be played in parallel and should have the ability to run in series like the RC-300. The effects are gimmicky and mostly unusable and the rhythm section is really generic and unchangeable. If they would only make this pedal with 4 switches (A: record/play – stop/clear & B: record/play – stop/clear) and the ability to play loops in series and parallel, remove the effects and rhythm section, this would be the hottest product on the market. I have an RC-300 which has all these features but its too large which is why I'm looking to replace it. Come on Boss… give us a small, functional looper between the RC-300 and RC-30 or we will all be switching to something else like the EHX 22500.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Bought it after being bored of the limitations I experienced while using the boss dd7 delay as a looper in my world music project (although the dd7 does a very good job). Now I start to get bored of the limitations the rc 30 brings with it. I wish for example the effects could be used without using a loop. That would give a new sense to the Maschine while it is implemented to my setup and not in use as a looper. The machine should have enough chips on board to provide some more fun and usability. The beatbox unit could also be programmable and I would like to be able to put other drumsamples in it. What I miss is a bpm – Meter AND the possibility to choose the bpm by number. This would help to synchronise it with other machines what is more or less impossible the way it is. WARNING: If you start the loops that are already on the machine (#90+.. ) when you buy it after some testing with a guitar you will either blow your ears or your amp because they are 300% louder then your guitar.Luxp

I would recommend buying the DigiTech JML2 JamMan instead of the RC-30. I just purchased an RC-30 and played with it fairly extensively for a couple weeks before deciding to return it and get the JamMan. This is obviously a review of the RC-30, but I'm going to compare it to the JamMan for features. Places the JamMan has an edge: 1. You are able to switch back and forth between different phrases seamlessly. The RC-30's biggest downfall is a 1/4 second or so lag that occurs when you switch between different phrases. The newest firmware updates have not made this go away. Because of the lag, the RC-30 is almost unusable in live applications. 2. When purchased with the Digitech FS3X footswitch (which only cost me $14.95), the JamMan has 7 different control buttons providing much easier hands free control than the RC-30 which has a max of 4 switches when used in conjunction with the Boss FS-6, which is also much more expensive than the Digitech footswitch. The Boss forces you to double tap switches or hold them down for two seconds (changes phrases requires a 2 second hold down even if you have an FS-6). 3. The JamMan allows for real time tap tempo changes while the loop is playing. The RC-30 only allows tempo changes when stopped and the phrase must have been previously saved. 4. The JamMan has an instrument in volume level and the RC-30 does not. This makes mixing instruments, loops, mics, and rhythms easier on the JamMan. 5. Cost is less, even with the additional FS3X. Also the Digitech comes with a power supply (does not run on batteries) while the Boss does not come with a power supply (it does run on batteries though) and is the right power supply that doesn't cause the unit to buzz is an additional $15-25 depending on where you buy it. Places the RC-30 has an edge: 1. Two looping channels with each phrase. The user can layer a couple elements on one channel and then switch to the other (while the first is still running) and lay more elements down then stop the first set, etc. This is actuallly pretty difficult to do with only 4 pedal buttons (and that assumes you have an FS-6). It should also be noted that the two channels must be the same length. 2. Additional recording time on the RC-30 (3hrs vs. JamMan's 35min). Both allow transfer to computer via USB though for unlimited storage. The JamMan can have additional storage with bigger memory card though. The RC-30 doesn't use a memory card. The computer storage for both units is somewhat annoying and time consuming. 3. Loop FX on RC-30. The only effect on the JamMan is reversing the loop (RC-30 doesn't do this). I actually found the Loop FX to be less than spectacular but others may disagree with me. Personally, I'd much rather have a reverse function. 4. Mic input on RC-30 has phantom power. Overall I much prefer the JamMan over the RC-30 if for no other reason than the fact that it's usable in a live setting because there's no phrase switching lag. Neither unit seems to noticeably alter my tone – and I'm a tone freak so that's something I listen for and care about a lot. I've owned lots of Boss effects and many have been great but you shouldn't buy this pedal simply because it's made by Boss. Compare the features and choose what's most important for you.alinquist
