It's exactly what you expect. Not quite a classic guitar but will get the job done. I was thinking the smaller neck would be easier to transition to from electric but I'm thinking it may be a little too narrow for me now. I guess I'm use to the feel of a real classical guitar neck and with nylon strings this neck feels too small. Not the manufacturer's fault, the guitar is exactly as described. I could see this being good for someone who's never played a classical guitar though. Tuner and electronics work great and it's a great guitar for the price but if you've played a real classical guitar the neck may feel a little cramped.GT6L6

Although there was a breakdown in email communication between us about the availability of the case and compatibility with the guitar, (it does seem only just slightly big for the NTX-1 guitar) however I am confident that it will protect it adequately, I wasn't expecting an exact fit and am so grateful. This is the entry level NTX model. The SDOTD price was a genuine and honest discount. But, the product description was confusing and possibly misleading. It describes an "A.R.T. System61" that is not installed on this guitar. The pickup system on this guitar is the System73. The System73 is a common under-saddle piezo strip configuration. The System61 is the Yamaha proprietary technology that is installed on all other NXT models. There is a noticeable 'runout' effect between the top halves of the sound board. Otherwise, the seam between the halves is impossible to discern. In fact, there were no seams, joins or gaps visible anywhere on the outside of this guitar. The neck and head stock are a work of art. To reiterate, the top is two spruce planks, the back and sides could be Okume or Nato. Yamaha does not list these woods as being laminated. Okume is an African hardwood and Nato is from South America. Both are considered acceptable mahogany substitutes. My guitar was made in China and sounds good enough given my untutored ear. The guitar has a truss rod, the 'urea' saddle is angled and uncompensated. My intonation and string height did not need adjustment. The NXT500's 'Slim' neck and nylon tones make this guitar hard to put down. Its also very light. I have several other steel string acoustics but I played this guitar exclusively for over a week, mostly unplugged. It plays well in my living room with a Fender Acoustasonic 15. The on-board tuner and rear-pointed tuning keys were convenient and comforting. I used them both a lot… btw, do nylon strings ever break in? The SKB-30 Deluxe Thin-Line guitar case fits this guitar perfectly. The looks of the instrument are gorgeous. When I was buying there were very few reviews for this instrument on internet. I took a leap…. This guitar will not give you real classical sound unplugged. When you plug it in you can play with the sound settings depending on what you have available. I play classical guitar in an ensamble and can add some reverb and even a bit chorus. Being a classical musician I wanted depth and warmth, so you need a good EQ. I use just a bit of piezo and a lot of inside mic but right off the bet with such set up you have feedback issues with volume on the guitar all the way down. So there is the need for anti feedback feature. During live concert I had no choice but to bring the Low frequency down and it was very uncomfortable. The guitar is hot. Despite all of it I like the guitar and I suspect there is a lot of potential with this instrument. When you finally set the sound to your liking it's very rewarding! This combo of under the bridge Pic up and inside mic gives you a lot of room to explore the sound. I took the guitar to my Luther to try to eliminate some bazz especially on 4th string, he was able to somewhat do it via bridge and he said that the freeboard is done quite good and does not need adjustment. I like the playability as well. I have another Yamaha trans acoustic that is absolutely amazing and deep but wanted to expand the range of sound variations. Hope this info helps those on the fence about buying it. I was looking at this instrument ever since it came out and am glad that I got it.Natasha

I'm very happy with my new guitar, I bought this after play many models for more than 2 hours in the local store in Orlando. The Cordoba was my selection because this have a sweet sound, is very soft to play acords that require a large elongation, is very comfortable, is a "Impeccable" guitar. Really I recommend this guitar for enthusiast players!
Overall: I have to say I am very happy with my guitar. It is great unplugged, and even better going through a PA. I play a lot of classical, but also James Taylor, Paul Simon, etc. and the guitar works perfectly for that style as well. I am also very impressed by the customer service at zZounds. I had a problem with the first guitar I purchased and without hesitation they found a solution for me. Overall very satisfied with everything, the guitar is beautiful. I played many others in looking and this one stood out right away, strong sound, easy to play. Highly recommend.

I wanted a smaller acoustic electric thats a little better than a starter guitar, something I could enjoy as my skills grow, and keep for years; something I can play by the campfire on weekend trips and not worry about having to pamper it. I read many, many reviews and listened to experts on YouTube play and compare. I bought this Ibanez and have been really pleased. All the reviews were on target and there were no surprises. The factory strings arent terrific but deliver a decent sound; there is no manual or even a gig case that comes with the guitar, but I found the perfect sized used hard case on Letgo for $20 and a used starter amp as well. I am all set up for under $360. Dont spend good $ on new cases and accessories. There is a huge local market to tap into through Letgo and OfferUp. I didnt want to buy the guitar used since Im still a beginner and wanted to play right away and be able to return if not satisfied. I think I made a good choice. The sound is good, better than expected for a thin instrument on the non-amplified setting, and think it will only improve with usage and better strings, which is what many experts say. Amplified, the sound is crisp, clear and delivers as promised. Its a lovely guitar; the dark finish is deep and beautiful, not atall a factory look like the ubiquitous blonde Yamaha starter guitar of my youth. I am not crazy about the gold-look hardware, which I think cheapens the otherwise excellent quality of the build… but that can be upgraded to chrome if I still dislike it next year. (Ill make it a goal reward for myself when I reach my next skill level). I noticed, while shopping for this guitar, that there are a number of very similar models out there. Most were more expensive, with different woods and very subtle differences. But, what kept me coming back to the Ibanez was the sound plugged in. Nothing else, regardless of cost, sounded as realistic as this does. I wanted a guitar that sounded "classical" amplified. and this did just that. Throw in the excellent fit and finish, this thing is beautiful, and you have a winner all the way around.D.Munson
Light weight guitar that sounds pretty darn good with an amp. It boasts a rich beautiful color in the light with really nice detail. Pretty decent sound for a streamline guitar. Your not going to get a deep sound but this a great piece to travel and practice with. Having a built in tuner is awesome! Also has bass and treble controls. I hooked it up to my home stereo through the stereo's amp and it really sounded sweet. I would highly recommend this guitar for anyone at this great price!TRACY

This was my upgrade from a Lucero 150se and what a difference it made. In terms of playability there's no comparison, the Cordoba is superior in every way. Start with the tuners/nut which are perfectly smooth allowing you to make small adjustments even on steel strings. Playing the Cordoba is simply easier and there were things I could not do well on the Lucero due to the thickness of the wood neck. Mind you I'm not talking about the nut width which is 50mm on both, I'm talking the actual thickness of the wood neck itself below the fret board. The slimmer profile of the Cordoba meant reaching certain chords easier, changing chords faster, and giving my hands the ability to put pressure when needed. The factory strings on the Cordoba appear to be superior as well although I would still upgrade them if you can afford it; the steel strings on the Lucero wore out at about 85hrs. No fret noise of any kind on the Cordoba (so long as you play the chord right) whereas on the Lucero I would get buzzing on frets 5 & 6 from both 5th and 4th strings with anything other than light strumming, even with perfect finger placement. The sound of the Cordoba is more sharp, crisp, and clear than the Lucero. My only con is that the shallower body does create a slightly more "twangy" sound than I'm used to but its a negligible difference I quickly settled with in exchange for the other qualities. You get what you pay for. This is a very solid guitar for the price. I would recommend nothing less for serious beginners.Joe T
I mostly play rock/popular music gigs but wanted a classical nylon guitar for that particular sound on home recording projects. I researched intermediate level guitars and thought I'd found what I wanted when I chanced on a review of the Cordoba C7 and decided to spend a little more and go with that. I haven't been disappointed. The build quality and tone have been worth that little extra. It would have been nice if a gig bag was included to give it some protection but it wasn't a deal breaker.David
I had a misconception regarding this brand. The only Cordoba's I noticed in stock at the store were inexpensive ukuleles. So when I began the search for a proper classical guitar, Cordoba was nowhere on my list. I ordered a used european built guitar by a reputable brand. It arrived with a bad up-bow in the neck. That's when I learned that traditional classical guitars have no truss rod. (Just my opinion, but wood isn't what it used to be, and you aren't going to get an instrument built with old growth timber under several thousand dollars.) So began my search for a "traditional classical guitar", but with a truss rod. That google search led straight to Cordoba. (All their models have truss rods.) I ordered a C7 (built in China) and a 45CO (built in Spain) to see what this brand was about. It would be a battle royale for build and sound quality. The loser is… my bank account, because I'd like to keep both. The two have a different build and likewise a different feel and sound. (see Cordoba's website for details.) Fit and finish is impeccable on both guitars. The C7 projects more, while the 45CO has perhaps a slightly more refined tone. My past experience has been that nylon string guitars are difficult to play, have poor intonation and need to be tuned more than played. None of that is the case with these two. My steel string acoustic and electrics are collecting dust while I obsess over this genre of guitar. My conclusion is… classical guitars are awesome, and Cordoba should definitely be on your test drive list. I have been reading about these strings for a long time. They are fun and different for steel string acoustic 6 strings and acoustic steel string tenor guitars. The best way I could describe tone is Willie Nelson. Not for everybody – but these stings are mellow but have a great attack for single note playing. I have been playing classical since age 12, I am now 72. I have found this instrument to be most comfortable and responsive to my needs. I still have my first guitar that was purchased by my parents in 1954. As I play for my own pleasure and an occasional recital, I have found much satisfaction with this product. My son gave it to me 2 years ago for a birthday present. This instrument "fits" me perfectly. The neck is of perfect dimension for my left hand and fingers. As I transitioned from my first guitar to this one, I found it to be so comfortable. As I do not use much, if any, amplification, it is nice for large rooms like church buildings or recitals. Overall: This was my first time ordering from zZounds. I wanted a cheap nylon string to play around the house and Ibanez makes decent low cost guitars. The guitar showed up and the box looked to be opened previously, the tape was cut. I immediate noticed the fretboard was extremely dry, to the point that the radius of the fretboard was concave, not flat, it had cracks, and all of the fret ends on low E side and high E side were sticking way out. I boxed it right back up and sent it back the next day. I'm no stranger to working on guitars but this was not worth the effort. Too bad, the guitar itself sounded decent but I highly suspect this guitar was stored in a poor environment hence why the fretboard was severely dried out and the radius of the board literally changed shape.Customer service etiquette was lacking as well but I got a refund. If you buy anything from this place, a bit of advice, use PayPal, as I did. The refund process seems to move faster if you report an issue via PayPal.

Guitar looked fine when I received it. Bought it on sale a little over a year ago and the guitar has developed a haze or blush under the finish that cannot be "buffed out" and looks horrendous. Everyone has told me it is from putting on the finish while the wood still contained moisture. The guitar has a 2-year "repair" warranty but I have to pay to ship both ways and there's no guarantee they'll even do anything. When they receive it they'll decide if its a manufacturing defect or not, which it clearly is. Then, If "they" decide it is, they couldn't tell me exactly what they would do. Is MF going to repaint and refinish the whole guitar, or try to buff it out anyway leaving it in worse condition than when I sent it? Or do absolutely nothing after I pay 40 for shipping both ways? I honestly don't care what their policy is, this is unacceptable, They sold me a defective product and it should be replaced at their expense. I have 2 Electric Ibanez guitars, but I'll never spend another penny at Musicians Friend or on Ibanez.MetalTeK
I twice received this guitar in sub-standard condition. The first one had two scratches and one polishing mishap, all of which were under the final gloss coat (so they couldn't be fixed). I called to request a replacement, was assured that problems like this were unusual, and that they'd send me a replacement right away. When I received it, it was worse than the first. There was a very visible semi-circle indentation about two inches below the sound hole, almost as if they went to stamp the sound hole there and then repositioned the machine. Because I had a gig that weekend and needed a guitar I had to keep one of the blemished versions (I kept the first one), and Musicians Friend did refund me a little money, but it was still quite disappointing. That being said, the guitar itself has a beautiful tone and plays with ease. The onboard tuner is convenient and accurate and I have no complaints about the overall performance.B&B
I am primarily a bass player but I was interested in purchasing a nylon string/classical style acoustic/electric guitar. I had checked out a few costing more at one of the big music stores in town. I then saw the Ibanez and thought I would check it out. I really liked the sound and features And actually thought it sounded better when amplified than one of the more expensive ones I tried. I then saw the one I finally purchased from Music 123 as an returned mint condition item. The price was great compared to a "new" item and it was delivered in mint condition. My only disappointment was that it was advertised as the earlier model that had an XLR output in addition to the standard 1/4" output jack. The newer models only have the 1/4". Also as a cost cutting measure the bridge seems to be a plastic material but does not seem to adversely effect the sound. One thing I do like about it compared to other classical guitars that I looked at is that it has fret markers on the fingerboard. All in all I do think it is a good quality and sounding guitar forr the cost for those wanting to start off learning a nylon string or just wanting to have just another option to play in their collection.

I've owned this Takamine TC135SC Classical 24-Fret Cutaway guitar for six months now and I decided to let patential buyers get an opinion on it. All I have to say about this guitar is GOOD things. I was surprized at the guitars weight at first for the Preamp is heavy duty carrying 4 AA batteries. Since that very first impression everytime I pick up this guitar the warth builds and I am amazed each time I hit an open position E maj chord how balanced and smooth yet bright and warm this guitar is. I can get lost playing for hours up and down the 24 frets and wouldnt think of trading in or ever upgrading this to something different. I play mostly Flamenco with a lot of attack. If you want to have a subtle Classical guitar I wouldnt suggest this for a lot of sound is sacrificed by the preamp and cutaway even though I feel that the over all tone and volume is fantastic. I have a Taylor 814CE V Class and am hard to please with the sound quality of acoustic guitars. The Taylor has been my standard. I wanted a nylon string acoustic with a nut width close to my Taylor steel string.The Takamine TC135SC seemed to fit the bill. This guitar seems beautifully made and sounds wonderful. I have only had it for a few days but I am finding the slim neck, 48mm at the nut is extremely well suited to my smaller finger length. I am very happy with the purchase and competitive price paid. I have used it on facebook and it sounds great with lots of comments on the sound and look of the guitar. My only disappointment with the guitar is the very small fret markers fitted, they are difficult to see clearly for people with eye problems. this is only a minor point and does not detract from the quality of the instrument. The looks of the instrument are gorgeous. When I was buying there were very few reviews for this instrument on internet. I took a leap…. This guitar will not give you real classical sound unplugged. When you plug it in you can play with the sound settings depending on what you have available. I play classical guitar in an ensamble and can add some reverb and even a bit chorus. Being a classical musician I wanted depth and warmth, so you need a good EQ. I use just a bit of piezo and a lot of inside mic but right off the bet with such set up you have feedback issues with volume on the guitar all the way down. So there is the need for anti feedback feature. During live concert I had no choice but to bring the Low frequency down and it was very uncomfortable. The guitar is hot. Despite all of it I like the guitar and I suspect there is a lot of potential with this instrument. When you finally set the sound to your liking it's very rewarding! This combo of under the bridge Pic up and inside mic gives you a lot of room to explore the sound. I took the guitar to my Luther to try to eliminate some bazz especially on 4th string, he was able to somewhat do it via bridge and he said that the freeboard is done quite good and does not need adjustment. I like the playability as well. I have another Yamaha trans acoustic that is absolutely amazing and deep but wanted to expand the range of sound variations. My first guitar was a nylon-string classical guitar made in Spain. The neck was wide as expected, but that wasn't an issue for me when I was 11 years old. However, this guitar's neck is thinner and that's one of the reasons I went with this model. The action is also low right out of the box which I like. It is a joy to play. The sound when unplugged it's good, but the guitar really comes alive when using an amplifier. The built quality is great. And the case that comes with it is very, very good as well. If you want that nylon-string guitar sound with a friendly neck profile and low action, then this is a great choice.Carlos
Excellent instrument . It takes a while to get used again to a wide fingerboard but very good for finger style. I particularly liked the strap button near the heel and first class protective gigbag.. Very good tone and upper sring accessibility with cutaway. Refined appearance and a relief that batteries are easy to fit.John C.

I was a bit hesitant to purchase an item openly advertised as scratch and dent. After watching the video of the guitar being played I decided to take a chance. The website was open and up-front about the damage to the latches on the guitar case and mentioned no other defects. Much to my surprise there were ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER DEFECTS. The guitar looks and plays like it is brand new. I've wanted a Taylor Nylon String Classical ever since my arthritis kicked in, so that I can play with less pain in my fingers. Overall: I say cudos to Taylor , great guitar , flawless quality , realistic sounding pickup , plays like the wind . I'm a novice singer songwriter that plays piano and guitar , mostly soft rock . This guitar is a great addition to my studio . I run it through a dbx 266 to control the parameters to a vintage amp with an 8 inch which I will later replace with an AER . It sounds great for pretty music . I 'd also like to say cudos to zZounds for great service and without the payment plan I couldn't have swung the guitar . At least not without fear of divorce .Scott

Im only playing a couple songs on acoustic with my band so I bought this to save wear and tear on my "good" acoustic. you can crank it up without fear of feedback. although it doesn't play or sound as good, its a fair trade off. it is what it is and it performs as I expect.kensoftail
It's a nice looking guitar, solidly built. Pros: Sounds fantastic plugged in, the finish work on the neck is decent for the price range and looks very classy in the gold and black with white binding. The headphone switch is great, wish it had a little built in reverb though. Cons: It only comes with one strap button in the back, you have to add another one to the uppermost curve by the neck if you want to play it standing up. Nobody is going to use one of those stupid acoustic straps that tie on the headstock with this guitar. The nut needs finish work, it comes very high and makes the strings go sharp when you try to play a G to a D. File the nut grooves down and it plays pretty good. It's a little on the heavy side even though it's a chambered body. The fret ends stick out and are sharp, you need t file those down yourself or you'll cut your hand up sliding down the neck. Personal preference, the neck is a bit thick, and I wish it wasn't a painted neck since it slows you down. All in all it's a pretty good deal for the price.rockingjon

OK, I got mine 5 or 6 years ago, because my arthritis was making steel string acoustics too difficult. The slightly wider neck and nylon strings have extended my career. I use it two ways, first, it's great for solo work, fingerstyle. I also play it with a pick, for jazzy and Willie Nelson country style. There's little feedback at normal volume, and it has a great tone. Just played out with it, and got many compliments on the sound.TGB
The picture on the AMS website doesn’t do the guitar justice, as it’s much more beautiful than that! The tuners are typical Godin proprietary, as they look good, and are smooth and stable in operation. I play with many alternative tunings, and am very happy with their smooth use. When running straight through my Roland Jazz Chorus 40, I can get any sound I expect from it. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get a GR-55 soon to experiment with all the synth sounds! With the exception of the heavy total weight, this guitar is perfect for my use.John K.
I've been Jonesin' for a nylon string guitar to add to my arsenal. I tried several, but the thing that I kept coming back to was the intonation issues inherent in a traditional design. So, I started looking for a nylon string that had different compensation on the saddle pieces. I came across this Godin, and since I already have two 13-pin synth access guitars, this seemed like a perfect match. When it arrived, I was surprised to find that it's actually a solid body guitar with some chambering. I mean, I knew it was a slim body, but I thought it was a slim hollow body. In retrospect, this has some advantages and some disadvantages… First of all, this is NOT the guitar that you're going to grab to sit around the campfire with your friends. It's as loud as a normal electric guitar that's not plugged in. The advantage, of course, is that you can jack this up as loud as you please in performance without worrying about body howl type feedback.Doug
