D'addario EJ26 Phosphor Bronze guitar strings are very good. I have played this strings for years. D'addario is a very trusted brand among guitar players. They are always consistent great sound and playability. They are comfortable on the fingers and they last a good while. The longevity of strings all depends on how much and how often you play. I have used various D'Addario strings since the early 80s. I was 'aware' of them in the 70s but I typically used Fender strings on electrics and Martin on acoustics. I have always maintained that D'Addario strings are cheap, plentiful, and get the job done. The argument could be made that there are better strings out there ("boutique" strings) but D'Addarios are available in any music store and they are consistently good. I think I only had one or two sets where the unwound strings were nasty…. they looked 'kinked' and didn't sound right. One or two sets out of how many hundreds of sets?? As to these particular strings, I have a 1947 Gibson L-5 and it just feels more 'right' with caveman strings. I'm not one of those 30s rhythm players that go runka chunka all day long, I play it like any other guitar, and it begs for heavy strings. D'Addario has them available….not everyone does, ya know. I bought these for a Little Martin, which was recommended to me as the best way to introduce Nashville tuning to my repertoire, as the smaller scale takes better to high-string tunings. Nashville tuning is sort of a studio trick most often used as a doubling of a standard guitar in order to achieve a 12-string or natural chorusing effect with less playing effort, more mixing possibilities, and no worries about having to down-tune to D to avoid neck or bridge issues due to the tension of most 12-strings (other than Guild models). There aren't many choices for pre-configured Nashville sets (many people put theirs together from individual strings), but this set seems the best balanced of what's available, and is especially designed to work well on short-scale guitars like the Little Martin series. I just wish they also made this in an 80/20 formulation, as I am starting to prefer how that metal combination blends with other instruments in the mix vs. the more modern phosphor bronze formulation. But one could always use 80/20 on the main guitar and get an even richer sound when blended with this phosphor bronze set.

I've tried DR strings with the recommendation of others and found them to be my absolute favorite for my old Yamaha acoustic. The Black Beauties, which these replaced, played great but had premature coating wear. I like the feel of them, especially on pull offs, where the strings stay put until you say go. The Neons are coated much better and everyone wows them and wants to know if they are real (or plastic). I like them a lot, they have that good feel and less finger pain, but the rainbow effect may wear off in months to come. Then I'll get another set of DR Black Beauties.Gregg

These are the best silk and steel strings I've tried. They are a perfect match for my wife's custom 12 fret Martin 00-21. They sound mellow but clear in the basses. The lighter tension makes them easier to play for longer periods of time. The trebles are clear and crisp, but not brassy like many strings. I have been using these on 12 strings since the late 1960's. They are easy on the guitar (and fingers!) and great to play Maybe not for everyone, but they add a mellowness to a a 12 string while retaining that distinctive "Jangle". Martin and a few others are now starting to produce their own, but La Bella are the originals and best, and use real silk. I have been doing a comparison of silk & steel strings from multiple brands, and these are pretty much middle of the road compared to the other options. I would call them basically heavier MA130S strings. They have the sweet sound of the Martin MA130S, but are not as easy to play because they're heavier. I guess they are a little louder too. Generally I would say that if you are going to go with silk & steel strings for their play-ability, I would go Martin unless you are afraid of a little fret buzz. I have also tried The Earthwood Silk & Steel and John Pearse Silk and Phosphor Bronze strings, and those are pretty much light feeling regular strings.Chris

These strings were purchased at MF as a trial. I have not used Labella strings for a long time. These were installed on my Takamine EF341 for a three hour show. My strings are replaced every show due to my heavier playing style and sweating. The 7PGCLs 11 gauge held up perfectly. The sound stayed consistent, no breakage and no loss of tone. This gauge of strings was easy on the fingertips and wrist. I also like the fact that they're manufactured in the USA. A thumbs up!!
I had elixir p/b 11's on my Epi masterbuilt DR500MCE and they were ok. Nice sound But, I decided. to try La Bella's P/B 11's. They have great reviews and I was changing strings anyway. WOW! What a beautiful tone mellow yet strong when you need it. There's something about the feel as well. Almost gentle to the touch but responsive. My new go to strings. I bought a set of La Bella 9's for my 12 string D'Angelico Fulton. Can't wait to try those as well. These are fairly typical strings in that the quality and sound are on a par with other brands, what sets them apart is that the gauges are perfect and flatten out that tension hump in the middle of the set. These are essentially 11-52s with a beefed up first and second string so if you prefer a softer feel on the wound strings but a bit more resistance in the trebles, these will do the trick.Paul B.

I tried heavier ones, they felt difficult and I had to down tune a lot. These one can be regular pitch or half down and even one whole step down in tuning and will stay fine. Drop to G for the bottom string will make that string just a bit sloppy however, but not bad. I like to play 10-46, and have done so for years just playing for myself creating new tones and tunes with 6 string ones. But 10-58 (7) sets become too heavy for me and bending hurts my finger joints. On my Ibanez RG7620, I have consistently used this set for 10 years I believe. Other brands have 9-52 7 string sets, but this is just a bit beefier 9-56. That is hard to find. They do not feel much less heavy in sound than 10-56 ones but are definitely easier to play. I got a 7 string that comes with 10-58 with 26.5" scale, I will change that one to 9-54 too. I have experimented and to try to reduce damage to my finger joints and tendons in the arm I may switch to 9's on 6 string guitars too. On 7-string guitars this is the only one that works for me. If you work out and have very strong forearm muscles, then heavier strings will be fine. I am sticking with the 9-54. I have not found another set with a 54 as the bottom string with 9 gauge for the rest. Life of strings: they last long, but not longer than Elixir or DR. They lose a bit of brightness and settle at a nice level and stay at this for months. I wish I could get this set in a coated version also. If you play the same 7 string every day 4 to 5 hours, I estimate with shred playing, change strings in two months (if you alway clean them after playing). I have had mine in for over 6 months now, i use a string cleaner. Every gauge has its own benfits and some cons, try several. They are ALL fun. I highly recommend these.7 string experimenter

Try them, they're great. Feel nice, sound wonderful, last a long time. I've been through so many brands and so many different types of string, and these are the absolute best (for me). Even better than the expensive Austrian and German brands. I play many acoustic gigs, most are three sets a night. Some mainstream brands don't even last for one gig, going dead too soon. And if you try to squeeze a second gig out of them, it's normally the wound third string that disintegrates, regardless of manufacturer or price. But these White Bronze strings hold up well. These strings are great for archtop guitars that carry a magnetic pickup. I play my Gretsch archtop unplugged every now and then and the flat wound jazz strings just don't have much acoustic presence. I tried the DR Zebras and they are pretty weak when plugged in. On the right guitar these strings are fantastic. I'm a fan of carbon fiber acoustic guitars and these seem to really tame the higher end response that composites are known for. These are loud and powerful but seem much more manageable than mediums from phosphor bronze or 80/20 sets for fingerstyle. They are also not as wimpy feeling as Silk and Steel sets from other makers. I have tried alot of reso strings in search of the best.Jim Dunlop'resonator strings are probably the best so far.High quality phosphor bronze and well balanced.They come with an extra .018(B string)for adding a little more mass to the high D string. I tried the extra .018 and it's exactly what I've been looking for. .016' are kind of wimpy if you do alot of single string playing. I'm comparing these to D'Addario EJ42 reso strings. I'm always looking for "my" strings… after removing some Elixir nanoweb lights and putting these on my Taylor 224ce-K DLX, its like a dream to play, great tone that makes me just want to keep on playing… the bottom end isn't as strong as the Elixirs, but it's not bad, smooth across the strings. I didn't notice any more projection, but I figured that was marketing woo anyhow and wasn't looking for that. For more projection just increase the gage and go to mediums or larger… They seems much more evenly balanced for this guitar than the $Elixirs. I'd say they are well worth a shot if you haven't found strings that suit you… I'll be buying these for awhile I think. The one minor difference I did notice from the Elixirs, other than a little less bottom end punch, is the EB strings grab your fingers more making sliding a little more difficult, but this helps plant your fingers for cleaner notes, so I guess it's give and take, can't have it all… Overall I'd say they are top notch stuff equal to or better than anything out there.Rob

I installed these on an Ibanez pn1 parlor guitar that was experiencing muddiness on the low end with the 80/20 strings i had previously put on. Its a mahogany laminate that sounded a little too boomy to me. I purchased these aluminum bronze strings because they were recommended for improved clarity and projection. Although these strings initially sounded a little brighter than the phosphor-bonze strings they replaced, there wasn't really that much improvement and within a week they seemed far duller sounding than the old strings. For me, the brighter sound of new strings generally lasts longer than just a week. Additionally, while I know guitars and their strings are temperature sensitive, these strings appear to be more temperature sensitive than phosphor-bronze strings they replaced, requiring retuning with only slight temperature variations of a few degrees that never bothered the phosphor-bronze strings.Robert
I won't bore anyone with my guitar playing credentials. I decided on a whim to try a bunch of different brand of strings. I was using Elixir 13-56 as these came with my Taylor GS Mini which by the way I cannot quit playing but that's another topic. I'll cut to the chase. I bought these Aluminum Bronze strings based on all of the positive reviews. All I can say is that the wound strings sounded flat especially when finger picking. The bottom two sounded bright but overall when strummed with either pick or fingers it sounded almost strange or not balanced, like when you see a car in front of you that has one wobbly wheel. I have no doubt they hold their tone but It's not working for me. Also, they don't look shiny and bright when you strap em' on. They look like strings that have been on a guitar and played for months..and have an odd feel to the touch which I did and didn't like?? Couldn't quite place it until I played one of my electrics that had Ernie Ball Cobalts. Similar feel. The strings I liked most were the Martin 90/08 Marquis 13-56.Pauly

Bought these and never put in my taylor. Eventually sold that guitar and picked up an inexpensive Epi Hummingbird with old strings. I figured I would try these out since they were just sitting around. They actually look really good in contrast to the sunburst finish of this guitar and the sound is amazing. I have been playing for 12 years and have tried most strings on the market and DR is my favorite brand. I could not believe the tone coming from this guitar with these strings. I was stoked to try out DR BB's on my acoustic guitar (6) after falling in love with them on my electric bass (4). Coated strings just make sense for corrosion prevention and I really like the look of black strings but I think the technology needs some time to mature. While the wound strings seem to last longer, the black coating started flaking off the NON-WOUND B and E strings with less than 4 hours of playing time using normal degrees of picking and strumming intensities. This is very disappointing since the reason for the purchase was to have black strings! I mean, there are several brands of coated strings available but only DR offers them in black. My Mitchell MS450 (single cutaway LP style guitar) came with D'Add's, which sounded decent. When I switched them out, I went with the GHS 10's on a hunch based on things I've heard. Great move! Nice, brilliant tone, rings out for eternity if you let them! I have heard that the GHS 9's are really good on Strat style guitars, so GHS might be my go to on my Squier Strat Classic Vibe next string change.Joe
I used 11's from D'Addario for years and I would break a string consistently for every show that I played. I do not know why I kept with D'Addario for so long. I figured I needed to have a heavier string gauge for durability and better tone. Searched around and came across these strings in the heavy gauge, and I could not be happier with them. These strings have great sustain, are durable, do not corrode as quickly as other brands I have used in my professional career playing music, and, despite their heaviness, are easy to play in standard tuning. Along with playing well with a pick and fingers, these strings also sound terrific when playing slide. You can get the same great tones out of these strings that Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks have with their lighter gauges, as well as channeling the fat tones that you hear from Duane Allman from the Fillmore East show. Great Garcia tones can come from these strings as well. Basically what I am saying is that you can still get those classic guitar sounds on these heavy strings without feeling like your losing tone or playing opportunities utilized by the players that inspire you who may use lighter string gauges. These strings also (as far as I know) have a round core instead of a hex core. I think that might be a reason why these strings have so much sustain, especially when you have some distortion or overdrive keeping them warm while playing lead. If you are on the fence about getting these, I recommend you give them a try just see how they work for you. They are no that expensive and its worth it to figure out what works for you as a player. Feeling confidence in the gear you use is so essential to being comfortable on stage. Buy a pack and see what happens. You might find yourself just what you've been looking for.JFromJUNCO
I used to use Boomers for about 10 years, on all my electrics (9s). Until arthritis started creeping in. Switched to EB slinky 8s, and playing became much easier. Everything still had a huge sound, but previous order added a test set of the Boomer 8.5s for my Gibson Les Paul goldtop with P90s. Took a while to get used to the rougher feel compared with the EB 8s. But will probably order another set for the goldtop, and a set for my ES295.Joe S.

Definitely the best strings at the price point lately. They have a thinner or smoother wind than Ernie Ball slinkys or Daddarrio exl and this results in less finger noise and a zingier tone IMO. I'm into clean and classic rock, and I doubt you would like these over the former two names if you were into more modern and metal sounds. It depends on the guitar for me, on my strat I could use just about any strings. My guitars with humbuckers seem more picky, at least to my ears. I prefer these over the other two as far as cheap strings go, and these are often cheaper. Win win. Used to be I would never have preferred Fender strings so either my tastes are changing or these strings have changed over the years.Joelish
Overall: Don't pay any attention to the low price these are great strings. Have used Fender 7250's on all kinds of bass guitars they always sound great and feel good. Years of use have proved quality. I put them on my Jazz bass, my PJ, and my Squire, have used them on Samick, Music man, OLP, and Epiphone basses, all good.Scott
According to a Fender rep, these are what came on the Fender PJ bass I ordered from Musician's Friend. They produce the classic Fender tone I wanted. I eventually replaced them with a set of Fender 7250L (.040, .060, .080, .100) to make it easier to play on the guitar's 9.5" fingerboard radius. I stayed with Fender because of the tone that the 7250M strings produce. The Light's have slightly less oomph on the low end, yet all the tone while the lighter gauge makes for nice melodic work on the high end of things. In summary, this set is BEAUTIFUL. I reccommend this for any seven-string player out there (unless you're a jazz player – then get the D'Addario Chromes set). Definitely worth the money. This set of strings is just perfect for the style I like to play – Progressive Metal with some Metalcore influences. Its heavy gauge gives it a really nice tension for the low strings and keeps the high ones loose enough to bend and solo like Petrucci himself. I tune to A-E-A-D-G-B-E, which is standard Drop A tuning on a seven string, because I love playing on the tense and tight strings on the low end; however, I have dropped it to standard Drop F# and it sounded really good, too. It's really hard for seven string players to buy strings, because the selection is so limited out there, and we don't really have the option of the "Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom", which is what I love to play on my six strings. However, these work just fine. I really need the lower gauge on top, so finding this set with a thicker low end and a thinner high end really excited me. I've adjusted my string tension on my Floyd Rose system to match these, and I think I'm gonna stick with them. Because of how rare seven string players are, it's really easy for a huge company to jack up the prices on their seven string sets. This set is an exception, however; with standard shipping, it's less than seven bucks. Obviously, one can't ever be completely satisfied with price (because free is the best option ), but this comes close enough.
Once I switched to seven strings I was looking for strings that would give me good tension for drop A, a tuning commonly used on seven strings. However, many stock strings only go up to about 56-ish and consider that a "ultra heavy gauge." Considering I used 10-52 on my six string in drop C#, this wouldn't be nearly enough. Thankfully I found these strings and got them. They have the perfect tension for tuning below standard on the low string(s) without being to heavy on the higher-pitched strings. Don't expect to be able to pull off drop F# without issues, but try these out if you want a good metal sound with fantastic tension.Brian Dice
I use this pack on a six string (drop the 10) when tuning a regular scale guitar to C. They drop in perfectly, and the tension is great tuned as such. I find that they stay "tighter" and don't flop around as much as every other brand of string I have used. The sound is full and rich, without being too muddy. I have used Extra Slinkys and Cobalt Slinkys on my solid bodies for years and have been mighty impressed with them so I thought I would try the Acoustic version. They lived up to my expectations, bright and clear sounding, easy on the fingers and comfortable to play. They seem to eliminate the extra finger force needed when playing an acoustic compared to a solid body. The strings are very light but do not sound tinny or weak giving a full bodied tone. For $10 a set they are incredible value for money.
