I needed replacement drivers for the Yamaha Passport 300 speakers, and after trying some alternatives these were PERFECT with superb depth and range! These may have been the originals OEM'd in the first place. Definitely recommend. Note that you will have to change the female terminal on the negative lead wire of the cabinet to the next size up. The original driver had a smaller terminal on that side.jimrn
After simulating many different 10" and 8" drivers on this site I settled on this one, and in my finished box it sounds great. It's in a 40L ported enclosure tuned to around 45 Hz (with an f3 about the same). It mated well with the dayton DC28F tweeter I used, and it is crossed at 1300 Hz but since this woofer is so clear I think I could have crossed it higher. If used in a ported box down to 45-50Hz, it runs out of excursion with less than 20 watts, but that fits what I used it for (even a small 12v amp will drive this speaker to loud levels with a sensitivity of 94dB).J Carl
Overall: I have an old Fender Rumble 15 bass practice amp, the older "non-v3" model. When playing at any kind of volume, the speaker would "fart" (I swear it wasn't me). I replaced it with this speaker, now the amp sounds much better, and can be played louder, and with more bass. It can still fart if you try, but hardly like it used to.Allen

I've been through many, many 12s for Blackface style speakers. These are my faves. For good 60s tones in country and rock with a BF amp these guys work great. Take pedals well. Not shrill or muddy in my experience. Solid surfy bass. Smooth treble. 120 watts which is triple what I would ever throw at em. For a Deluxe or a Pro in a honkytonk bar, these are just the ticket.edol9871
For me the tones of these are somewhere in between American and British. I use these mainly in a 2×10 cab for a fender vibroverb style amp. Vs the Oxford speakers these have a lil more mid focus and rounded highs that work much better with higher gain tones. I also use these with my Marshall origin 50 set relatively clean to get a slightly bigger bottom end than V30s.RockinJohnson
I bought this speaker in the 16ohm version to replace a v30 in my orange ppc1x12. I love the v30 but I mainly use a 100w Marshall DSL100HR and the v30 by itself couldn't handle all that wattage since it's only 60watts. So I decided to go with the swamp thang cause a little more defined low end sounded like a good idea as I play a 7 string ltd (fishman fluence pups) half the time. But I was worried I would loose the highs that we need for attack in high gain situations as well as playing clean which I do very often also. But now that I've played tgrough this speaker I can say that is not a problem whatsoever. This speaker has twice the highs and twice the lows as my v30. Probably a little less midrange but since it's such a powerful speaker it doesn't feel like it's relying on mids the cut through. Full disclosure I've only had the speaker a few hours and played through it a little over an hour but if it sounds this good outta the box I'm confident things will only get better. It's a great sounding speaker in my opinion that would complement any style/set up. I plan on buying an empty Luke 2x12C cab from seismic audio soon so i can pair the ST and the v30 which im lookong forward to. But in the meantime im in no huge hurry since the ST sounds so good by itself.Michael I.

Overall: Wasn't really sure what to expect from this speaker. I have a cannibas Rex, and liked that. I have a bugera v5, newer version, with turbo sound speaker. The turbo sound speaker sounds good, but still have this v5 that "boxy" sound that's synonymous with the v5. Enter the 820h. Smooth in the highs, good full lows… Didn't say great, but definitely good. Mids are smooth as well, even brought to the front a lil. I read where this speaker performs closer to the size of a 10" speaker. That's hard to understand, by reading that. I will explain it this way. The sound coming out of this speaker absolutely fills the room more than the stock speaker. It's noticeable, right away. Just a bigger, Fuller sounds. Water thru a straw vs water thru a garden hose. After reading the User Comments about different Brands, I decided to try this Speaker and I am not disappointed. I know this is "just a practice amp", an old Crate GLX 15, which is no longer made, but small amps have been used recording famous tracks and in live setting gs too. LoL. The Clash used an old Gorilla Amp at the Hollywood Palladium, Keith Richards, Frank Zappa used a Pignose Anp Recording and Eric Clapton & Duane Allman recorded "Layla" thru an old Fender (tube) Champ. Just think, they didn't have the modern P.A. System we know & take for granted today, which didn't exist in the 60's and early 1970's. Big lapels, wide ties like Bob Newhart wore and rotary phones on TV's "Kojak" with Telley Savalas along with chrome bumpers ruled the day, but I digress. This speaker is heavier than the stock speaker and sounded great playing an old Stan Kenton Live Album (along with classic rock tracks too), which used a brass section and a cool mid-range and lower bass frequency. I'm not a Sound Engineer, nor did I use an old V.U. meter, but this speaker goes past the stock output. Do your homework and make your own decision, but I found this speaker amazing for it's size. Eminence makes an excellent product. Here's one last thought: we live in a time when this did not exist, and if it did, it was at an out-of-touch price, which this isn't. If you choose another Brand, there are other great choices depending on what you're looking for, per your personal taste. Just think, Fender didn't put a 5 way switch in the Strat until 1975. This was my first DIY guitar amp and boy was I nervous. I ended up using this Patriot woofer paired with the buyout footnote and placed it in a pine cabinet to help with resonance. Even though I was initially worried about the build, I ended up not needing to be. It sounded great! The cabinet I built could be converted to an open back or closed back. I like this particular driver better in the open back, although some of that might be due to the lack of wattage the amplifier puts out. Either way, it sounds great on the guitar and with every pedal. I really have enjoyed this driver. I was a little hesitant that this speaker would work for my unique application. I'm not using it for a guitar amp but as a replacement speaker for a 1948 AM/FM/Phono radio that the original 10" speaker was missing. It turns out this speaker works great. I went with the 8" version instead of a bigger one to get a greater frequency range and am glad I did. This thing rocks even though the tube amp is only putting out 5w.Chad
I used two of these speakers (8 ohm in parallel) in a clone of the Magnatone Melodier 109 that I built. They turned out to be a perfect match for the self-split push-pull circuit. Used to replace the OEM speaker in my Blackstar HT1, and as many have claimed, does provide a much better bottom end — deep, tight, focused. Excellent highs — one of the "small speaker" spikiness. My only quibble is that in my application, there is a drop-off in the mids, creating an odd high/low over-emphasis. I can dial it in by adjusting my amp, but out of the box it was tight in the mids. Bigger magnet than the OEM unit; construction standard seems very high, to the extent you can "see" it. At the Parts Express price (not list) it's an almost unbeiievable value.
I put this in an old Vox VT15 Pawn shop find. It worked well for a few years but it konked out, and I didn't want to spend a ton on a little practice amp. This little speaker did the trick. I really think I'm getting better tones out of this speaker than the speaker that it came with. I only replaced the speaker a little over a month ago, but so far, I feel like I gave my amp an upgrade. I did not expect that.DeadWeasel

I have a vintage Mouse amp from Lectrosonics I had used for busking back in the day. The speaker's cone was brittle and developed holes. I patched it as well as I could, but, it was a goner. Lectrosonics didn't sell the speakers as their supplier had discontinued them. I set to look for a replacement (~15W 4Ω) and decided on this one. The Mouse specsheet said 8˝, but it was 7 1/2 ˝, which I realized after taking the amp apart (read the manual, but always measure-lesson learned). After some chiseling, I was able to install the Celestion. I plugged in the old guitar and it was good. Real good. The Mouse is alive! It's now a practice amp and I hope to get more years out of this old rodent.Axegrinder

Received the amp and hooked up , and i was totally surprised at how good it is , it really is powerful and i wasnt expecting it to be . I read some people say its fans are loud , honestly my old pa head was loud , this is barely heard . Solid built body , actually has some weight to it . I have it hooked to my behringer mix board , and have several different interfaces , mics and my pc channeled through , and am using 4 speakers , 2 from my alesis pa system and 2 moniter speakers , and i dont even have the unit up to half way , prob 1/3 of the way to half , and it is loud but clear . I could use this head to do a decent sized venue and easily be more than heard and clear , even on my mix board i am not even close to raising the controls high , i had to with my old unit. I am a physicist. (energy physics not matter physics). I am also a sound engineer, coincidentally, the control of sound energy. This amp is VERY GOOD for bench testing audio control devices and speakers. The addition of an unbalanced input makes it very handy for typical bench tests. Because I am retired I also use commercial speakers for my home stereo system. Use of commercial speakers is much cheaper than consumer speaker products that, by and large, do Not provide full range audio despite deceitful specs claiming otherwise. The commercial speaker is also built to last and far more reliable than consumer designs. (will last decades under home stereo use… my last amp lasted 31 years… speakers are still going strong) I use this amp as my home stereo amp driving 1,200 watt rated commercial speakers that actually reproduce 20Hz. (actual amp power use rarely exceeds 75 watts peak and 25 watts average) In that unique use… the amp fan noise is detectable so I place it behind a glass paneled cabinet. Aside from fan noise, the amp performs very well and for the price is one of the best bargains there is. Keep in mind… the typical consumer stereo amp is Designed To Fail and the primary reason is…. no active fan cooling. (a flawed design that minimizes ambient noise) The amp provides plenty of dynamic headroom (nearly 6dB under typical home stereo use) and presents no excessive noise floor problems. I use a receiver with balanced XLR outputs, a balanced 31 band EQ to drive the amp and control volume. My speaker connections are Speakon. Bottom line… A very good simple amp for multiple purposes at a very good price. Just purchased a QSC GX5 power amplifier from Mary (store manager), and Akeyla (sorry if I misspelled). The amp rocks! I have been DJing for several years and Mary explained a lot of technical stuff regarding which amp to buy for my speakers. I actually had a more expensive product in mind, but after her explanation I went with the GX5. That says a lot for her character and integrity. Some folks would have simply sold me the more expensive amp just to make a profit. I use a Marshall DSL20HR through a Blackstar cab with a Celestion Seventy 80 in it. I could only get a usable sound by turning the presence all the way down and the treble most of the way down. It was too ice-picky otherwise. I replaced the Seventy 80 with this Greenback, and what a difference. It warmed up the sound considerably without muddying it in the least.Bates
Overall this is my favorite Celestion speaker. I am running through a boutique Swart MOD 84 VOX inspired 15-watt amp and this speaker works perfectly! It sounds great clean with chimey and sparkling highs. Very articulate and touch sensitive. When overdriven it has the characteristic velvety smooth mids and tight bass. This is the sound of mid 60s through the 70s Rock and British Blues. AMS has great deals and payment plans to help musicians of all kinds. AMS shipped quickly. This is a great speaker. I have them in a 2×12 and use it with a Marshall JCM 800 50 W head and a Orange OR 15 head. The vintage tones are great. Really, off the map great. I see why Hendrix, ACDC, EVH and others rave about this speaker. I've experimented with lots of speakers, mixing different speakers and the Greenbacks give me a wow moment everytime. The cleans are crisp and clear. The distorted tone is vintage, very natural, and pure magic. Glorious! Sounds great with my les paul and strat — any guitar and any head. Best for classic rock vintage tones, blues, country or jazz. Metal players should look at something else. The only thing is they are rated 25W which can limit how you use it. Still, well worth the trade-0ff. If you like your amp but are struggling finding that tone we all search for, look at trying these speakers before you buy a new amp. If you always play metal with a hi-gain setting and smoldering distortion you will like this little amp head. It is remarkably powerful for its light weight and size, and seems to suffer no strees even when turned up all the way. It drove a VOX AD212 cab with no problems at 16 ohms. However it lacks versatility and is all distortion of some sort all the time. I played through it with an Epiphone with two HB's and a Vari-Tone switch, so I ran 18 distinct tones through it and it was all metal-esque. For the money, a Boss 25/50 watt Katana gives you the amp and speaker and is extremely versatile, although it is a bit difficult to learn how to use the Swiss Army Knife variety of settings on that, too. All in all – I have no other experience with Soldano, but this is sort of a rather expensive distortion pedal with good tone control features, except it can drive a speaker cab loud enough for some gigs. If you want to jam but also have big stack sound in an apartment without bothering the neighbors, this might be for you, but I won't be using it much, maybe for speed practicing or recording.Joel
I bought this as a backup for travel gigs. In the event that I needed an amp, I could use this to power a cab of any size. It has plenty of volume for such a small form factor. If I wanted to run pedals cleanly, I can run into the effects return, but have no volume control on the amp itself. Overall, it sounds great for the price.Ben

I put four of these speakers in a small cabinet for the top end of a bass rig. This box is either mounted on a mic stand or tilted back on the floor. Overall: Okay, so I got this little Boss solid state practice amp, an "MG 10." The floppy little radio speakers sounded okay, but I wanted more….seeing this as a "blues harp" amplifier, I purchased the pair of Eminence Alpha 4 speakers for $30. I put them into a 1/2" wood baffle on the front, (now it looks like a vintage Crate), and wired them to produce an 8 ohm load. Safely I say, these beefy little monsters sound loud, clear, and fabulous for my purpose, but also excel as an acoustic amp for my Epiphone EJ200 acoustic-electric guitar. If you want to build a "PA array" type of cabinet with 4, 6, or 8 of these solid frames on each side, you may be challenging the Bose products for quality of sound in a very direct way. I highly recommend for guitar, harmonica, and vocals.John

I bought a Bugera V 5 5 watt tube amp. From most everything I read on the Internet the original speaker just sounded "too dark" And looking around for any 8 inch speaker with 4 ohms was not too easy.Not too many choices to choose from. The Jensen MOD 20 was available (locally) and the price was real good.I bought the MOD 8-20 for a replacement, I made a GOOD CHOICE it seems to be louder and brighter than the Bugera speaker. Before I had to run my tone knob maxed out on 10…still was too muddy. But the Jensen I can run my tone knob at 4 or 5 if I wanted to. How awesome is that . I replaced both tubes in the amp and did not really notice a difference , but now the speaker…that was different. Thank you Jensen for making such a good speaker replacement.Electric John
Fender Mustang I Speaker Upgrade: The little Fender Mustang I is a great little amp for practice and low volume rehearsals, however, the stock speaker cuts nearly an octave off your lows and highs are tinny, and mids are farty. Again, great little amp for what it is and how low-cost it is. By swapping the stock speaker for the Mod 8-20 it is not only affordable, easy to do, it makes a BIG difference in overall tone and note articulation. I only use this little amp for practice and low volume rehearsals and have been using it for close to 5 years specifically for that purpose and did not want to spend half or more of what the amp costs or is worth. When I first purchased the amp it was obvious the stock speaker was the weak link. The Mod 8-20 will make you happy, or should I say happier. Great little speaker at a great price. Note: make sure that when you do the swap that you connect the RED speaker wire to the PLUS connector and BLACK speaker wire to the MINUS connector tabs on the Mod 8-20 (they are marked on the Mod 8-20). You will also need to ground the Mod 8-20 by snipping the ground wired soldered to the stock speaker and attaching it to the Mod 8-20's metal outer rim (cage) by scratching or sanding a little of the paint off around one of the screw holes that secures the speaker to the soundboard and attaching under the screw. I have a Roland Streetcube Ex that I obtained for busking without AC power. The low end frequency was not satisfactory. I saw on YouTube where someone replaced the stock speakers with these. In my opinion, these did not work for me. The bottom end decreased further with the low mid being magnified far more than acceptable. I use the amp for electric guitar and backing tracks. With these speakers the bass decreased further and out of the blue the kick drum was extremely pronounced. Perhaps as guitar only these would be good. According to the Youtube poster, his backing tracks had a better bass response. My experience did not yield such results. When I reinstalled the stock speakers the backing tracks were back at acceptable EQ levels.Crazystrings

I play gigs every week, and use Crate 120 watt GFX-212, I play a seven string guitar and the bottom end has always been muddy. The speakers broke up and I contacted Eminence to see if I should use the Texas heat or the swamp thang. The said these were great speakers but for the seven string they recommended this speaker. I took there suggestion and am extremely pleased. I can turn the bass all the way up and the low B string rings clear, the highs are clear was well. Overdrive screams like it should. The clean setting is so clear I can not believe it. The one thing I was not prepared for about the speakers is they are about twice as loud as my old ones. They are however thee times the weight of my old speakers,but well worth the extra weight of my cabnets. I would highly recommend these speakers to anyone. These have a seven year warranty from the manufacturer as well.The Boz

Had a Superchamp X2 and decided to pick up a Superchamp mini stack to use for jamming with friends. Like the range of sounds and moderate volume of the amp, but felt like the shrill Celestion in the 1×12 cabinet could be improved on. I never used the EV 12 but wanted to see if this take on that speaker could round out the sound. This guy is heavy… reminded of lugging around the old JBLs. I added fiberglass to the cabinet and mounted the big guy. Even with minimal breakin, this thing sounds great. Big tight bottom, clear as a bell mids and highs with no ice pick. And so efficient it makes the little Superchamp louder. This speaker sounds like it puts out the best your amp can give it without breaking a sweat. This is better than it should be. At $75 each, it’s a great value. Is it perfect? No. This is a great replacement woofer for low to medium wattage applications. It has great Xmax and is of medium high compliance. It’s a good option for a two way system given it’s high performance in midrange frequencies. It makes a great stage monitor, for example. In hifi, it will be hard to beat as a low to mid bass driver below 100w. Foam surrounds, plain medium magnet structure, and stamped frame construction do not lend it to be a legacy driver but you didn’t expect that for $75 did you?bill
I purchased the K50WP mylar speaker to replace the mylar speaker in a UNIDEN marine radio, Model MC 2010. The speaker in the radio lost continuity to the coil. The K50WP speaker was the only speaker I could find that was close mechanically in dimensions; close to the power rating; as well as being mylar (the marine environment is tough). I had to make mechanical adjustments to the K50WP (shaved the outer edge) and had to modify the radio brackets. I placed a 10 ohm resistor in series with the speaker to reduce power to the speaker. The fix worked well – glad that parts express had at least something close to what I needed.Justboughtone

I love the v30 but I mainly use a 100w Marshall DSL100HR and the v30 by itself couldn't handle all that wattage since it's only 60watts. But I was worried I would loose the highs that we need for attack in high gain situations as well as playing clean which I do very often also. But now that I've played tgrough this speaker I can say that is not a problem whatsoever. This speaker has twice the highs and twice the lows as my v30. Probably a little less midrange but since it's such a powerful speaker it doesn't feel like it's relying on mids the cut through. Full disclosure I've only had the speaker a few hours and played through it a little over an hour but if it sounds this good outta the box I'm confident things will only get better. It's a great sounding speaker in my opinion that would complement any style/set up. I plan on buying an empty Luke 2x12C cab from seismic audio soon so i can pair the ST and the v30 which im lookong forward to.
