I had been using 0.13 baritone strings on a 25.5 scale Ibanez 6 string and never could get it to intonate well if I went lower than b standard. With these strings I can get it to Ab standard or Drop F# while still maintaining an almost perfect intonation. Plain steel 3rd isn't my Forte, but it works.Barry Baritone

these sound incredible at the B and A range. Particularly A because they are so thick. I dont play in F but they still hold tune and tension amazingly. They sound sharp and are very lively strings. Im going to try the 10-60 next week. the 65 gauge is a little to big for versatility. I plan on buying a third guitar and that will have these strings designated to it.Reza

This is my first strandberg guitar, purchased from GuitarGuitar in the UK. The service was exceptional, and they even helped me to set up the guitar before shipping it out to me. I'm new to the world of headless guitars, and I've always been a fan of S-style and T-style guitars, and I wasn't sure how I would adapt to the feel of the strandberg, especially the endurneck and the flat radius on the fretboard. That said, after reading lots of reviews on how strandbergs have helped people to be able to play for longer hours, I decided to take the plunge. It has now been about two weeks, and I will say that a strandberg is all that they say it is. It's incredibly light and ergonomic, and the endurneck really helps to promote good left hand placement. I can stand for hours and practice, and I don't feel that there's an ache in my left shoulder. Fit and finish was perfect, and the frets were polished very well. Bends are a breeze, and the low action makes it play like butter. The stock pickups are also amazingly versatile. It's a guitar that sounds and plays great right out of the box. First, I have been waiting for this guitar for about 4 months. Going back to mid 2021, I had 13 guitars ( Gibson, Fender, Schecter, Ibanez, Music Man etc) but wanted to focus on getting better at the guitar and only have one great 6 and 7 string. When doing research on guitars. I came across Sarah’s music and the Strandberg guitar. Because I never played one I was a bit hesitant to get one based on the reviews compared to the actual guitar. I was shocked when I got my first Strandberg, which was the prog 6 it was just an overall amazing guitar. When this guitar became available a few weeks ago I was excited I could finally get the original Strandberg I wanted. As a result, I sold my prog 6 to get this specific model. Overall, this guitar is just amazing. The neck is smoother and more comfortable then any other guitar I ever owed or played. At first I was hesitant about the OEM pickups and figured I could just swap them out. But I am very pleased with them. They provide a great clean and/or distorted sound. So after adjusting my setting in my plug-ins I really love the way this guitar sounds. Again, overall I just love everything about this guitar and extremely happy I was able to finally get one.Cory Z.

The Boden 6 DR Titanium is a great all-around guitar. It’s very appropriate for almost all styles of play and is manufactured to a very high standard. This is my second Strandberg. I met Ola at the 2020 NAMM show (I had not heard of Strandberg and did not know who he was!). He took the time to introduce me to his line of guitars and why they were engineered differently. I found them extremely comfortable to play. I ordered one when I returned home from the show and was surprised to discover that my "salesman" at the NAMM booth was none other than THE man, lol. My first one was a Boden Prog 6 which I had refinished in a nice sunset burst by Adrian Moreno which made its way onto the Strandberg Instagram page recently. I am playing the Boden DR a lot now, as I tend to slightly prefer non-trem guitars. I find the DR and the Prog have very different sounds, probably due to the different pickups. The Prog 6 can emulate some great “strat”-type sounds as well as more traditional hum bucker sounds. The Boden DR sounds a bit more like a PRS than a Fender to me, but it’s really unique in its sound. Very warm and full sounding to my ear. First at the foremost, you're gonna buy it for how it looks. And let me say that the pictures of it doesn't do it justice. It looks so much better in real life! After cosmetics, it feels great to hold and play. The neck is fun to play on. The EMG 81-7 sounds beefy and aggressive, but still warm. Once set up, the Floyd works great. I play in B standard, so the strings are perfect for big chords and my very modest shredding right out of the box. In short, it feels like a guitar over a grand. Worth every bit! Just a few minor complaints. Like a little spot of the binding is a little messed up. And one of the screws on the battery compartment was stripped out in the body. But overall, nothing I would send it back for. It is a beast! Owned quite a few LTD's and own a ESP Horizon 7. It hasn't disappointed.Matt H.

Great construction and sound. I like the jumbo frets, they allow me to riff comfortably and hard. Evertune bridge is awesome however if you play it in zone 3 will act as a regular bridge and you will have to tune again after a couple of songs. If you play in zone 2 it will preserve tuning but no bendings will be allowed frp the bridge for you to perform.Jay

Ok, I give it 5 stars for the money, but disregarding the cost I'd give it close to 4 stars anyway. I found I needed a 7 string to complete some demos…. And this cheapy did the job admirably. Setup was fine right out of the box, action and intonation were spot on, I changed nothing. Fretwork is tidy and well executed, and the jumbo frets are nice. The neck is really playable, nice profile and satin finish, there's even a bit of a flame in the maple. Fretboard is a little streaky, clearly a stained, lighter wood due to the CITES regulations, but it feels fine and looks ok. Hardware is basic but functional. It stays in tune perfectly, and I bend a lot, particularly lower down, which I find often pulls instruments out of tune. The body is really resonant when played unplugged. I debated between the longer scale of the Jackson Dinky, and the better upper fret access of the Ibanez, and I'm happy with the choice I made, although I'll go slightly heavier on the strings when I change them. If I was a proper metaller I'd probably throw in some (insert uneccesary, expensive, trendy pickup here), but I bought it for demos, and I've had no problem making it sound how I want, so it's staying as it is. The only surprise, not that I'm bothered, is that the centre of the burst is much darker than I've seen on any of the official pictures, it's practically black, much more subtle than shown. First guitar I ever bought was a Fender Strat Squire for $95 and yes it was fun to play and great to learn on it, I was tired of down tuning and going back to standard so much bc of the different songs I like, my high e kept breaking and the pickups didn't like a whole lot of gain. I had looked at a ton of the cheaper side 7-strings like the Jackson Dinky or a used Schecter Omen-7, or something like that. For me though, the feel and the sound of the Ibanez Gio GRG is amazing and a lot easier to play than my Squire. I'm glad I picked it up for $220 and I'm for sure going to be playing it a lot. I do wish the body was a little thinner, and that it had some sort of tremolo system, but that's okay, I can live with it. Amazing build and great finish.boomythecrow

Overall: This is a nice guitar, very well made as you would expect from any Ibanez guitar. The neck is thin and very comfortable. I cant review the pups that it came with because I installed set of seymour duncan nazgul/sentient pups right out of the box before I even plugged it in. At first I wasn't real happy with the sound. It was very heavy and dark. I went back into the electronics and noticed it had a very large capacitor on it. After disconnecting the capacitor I gained back the highs and achieved the tone I was expecting from the nazgul pup. I will be installing a 1 meg ohm pot and small capacitor in a few days, this will give the the "wide open" sound from the pup that I want wile still letting me roll off some of the highs if I should so choose. Other than that, love the guitar!! Plays really well and looks good too.Vernon

Getting used to the extra 2 strings, which is a little awkward. And the fanned frets is something new too. It's kind of like learning the basics of swimming, then decide to try the diving board. LOL. I'm cool with that, as it saves me from buying a bunch of guitars along the way to be comfortable with this concept. The guitar came well set up. Action and relief were good. Pickup height was good. The tuners are high ratio and hold the tuning well. The pickups sound nice and are medium-high output. I picked this up the day it arrived, before it was put on display at a local GC. I carefully tested every aspect of this guitar and was shocked by its quality as others have noted. The bridge set up is the first string- thru TOM for me and the sustain is remarkable. The machines hold tune and tune with precision. I find the pickup set captures a tight lower register rather well. The action, fit, jumbo frets and finish are what anybody would expect from a FAR more expensive instrument. After a year of research, I'm convinced that this is by far the best 7-string in its class and I cannot find a single negative feature with this model. WOW!Snail

I was very impressed, especially for the price. quality of the product, other than a very small flaw in the finish (dip in the paint, not a scratch) next to the bridge pickup. Better than any locking tuner, you just have to measure the string to the second peg above the one you're using, cut it and put it in. When you get to the unwound ones, clip a little shorter (can't tell you how to measure, I figured it out by trial and error. I would estimate 3 wraps by sort of wrapping it loosely, then cut). Perfect match to the vintage F tuners made on the great strats of yore, you can age them to match by fuming the finish with muriatic acid. Place the tuners on an upside down bowl in a piece of tuperware with an inch or so of acid. Seal the lid. Place in a bath of hot water, and the acid will heat and evaporate. After 10 – 15 minutes check the level of chrome removal. You can always do more, but you can't easy put chrome back on. Rinse with cold water when you're done. RAWK ON!!!!ki_jaybones

I build custom Strat/Tele's so this may not apply to all but…. Like others said this peg uses press-fit front bushing style similar to low cost Squire Strat. For standard diecast pegs I drill 10 mm diameter holes on peg head. I use aftermarket necks with 8 mm diameter hole (I remember it is same as low cost Squire). What I do on 8 mm holes for this peg is I drill 4 mm deep 23/64 (9.1 mm??) diameter counterbore holes to accommodate the bushings. I strongly recommend using drill press not hand drill for this. Also for a better support of peg shaft, I made Teflon sleeves to fill the peghead holes of 8 – 10 mm with silicone grease. One minor issue I have is peghead of some aftermarket Tele neck is a little undersized so I need to file the end peg (High E) a bit to fit.Basement Blues

They have enabled me to get top shelf medicinal music gear that I cud never afford without their payment plan. I have 4 deployments to war zones and am retired early now however my credit not to Shiney from a previous relationship. Their no credit check really is a blessing for people like me that have the integrity but not the credit score. Too my point. I never knew strings made such a difference. These elixirs are a little slick but wonderful once you get used to it in about an hour. Every note is very defined and the highs dont hurt your ears and lows and miss are great. I find these strings extremely good if you have ceramic pickups. Just some magic about them. I gave a shot and they improved my sound technique and overall experience with a guitar. I thought I found the magic when I got some Erie ball cobalts. The feel is similar but the sound of the elixirs optiweb are much better. Harmonics come through much better as well. I will definitely be using elixirs for a while until I may find something better in my tone search.Tigger

I usually use 10-46 but bending them requires a bit of effort. I've since changed to the 10/46 Optiweb from the Nanoweb Elixir's and they are so much better. However, I needed a set for a 25.5" scale guitar I'm keeping in E Standard, so opted for the 9/42 to try out. They feel amazing, play beautifully and are very bright sounding. Standard tuning, these are my go-to string from now on.Wayne G

In the past, I've used several non-coated strings (D'Addario XL/XT/NYXL, GHS Boomers, custom brands, Ernie Ball Slinky/Cobalt/M-Steel). Though some were better than others, even the nicer ones like NYXL or M-Steel didn't last as long as I'd like for the price, and the cheaper ones either started with not great tone/feel or got that way too quickly, requiring too often string changes. I had used Elixir strings before (Poly and Nano). Though the Nano were better than the Poly, and had good tone and lasted long, they still felt coated and I didn't love the feel. When these Optiwebs came out, I tried them out. I totally love the feel of them, as they don't even feel coated. They still have the solid Elixir tone and I can leave them on for 3-4 months without losing any tone or tuning stability. Thus, they are now my go-to string, and it's a nice feeling to know my quest for the right string is over. Give them a shot.Chris in Big D

I was talked into buying these strings about a month ago by a sales associate at the Guitar Center in Jackson, Ms. Said they were the best strings Earnie Ball had to offer. I can now say that I disagree. I love Earnie Ball strings, don't get me wrong, but these are by far the worst I have purchased. I had them on for two weeks and played on them five times. Put my bass in its case after every session. Within a week, I started noticing that they were gaining rust. Dispite the fact that I cleaned them. By the time the second week came, they looked like they had been left in the rain for months. I don't recommend these strings to anyone. The steel and nickel strings, yes, buy those. I love them. But these new cobalt strings are a waste of money. Thankfully my local Guitar Center took care of me and gave me a free pack of strings when I showed them the wear and tear they had gained over a course of two weeks. I'll say again, don't buy these strings. You will be disappointed.Van Lee

However, for my purposes I find that they have too much ring and higher frequency harmonics and overtones, and don't give me that down and dirty sound I'm looking for. Perhaps after using them while they will mellow out and give a more pleasing tone. But for now I would say these would be best for slap and pop, where you want a real strong response in the higher registers. This pickup reminds me of the Dimarzio Breed pickup which is now discontinued. This is a little more balanced in the mids however which is nice. The output is moderate but not high output, but it definitely is a modern sounding pickup. It is very clear and articulate but not harsh and the top end is thick and smooth. Works very well with high gain amps. I have three of these pickups in my guitars and they seem to work very well with many different wood types, Mahogany, Ash and Alder. I have had this pickup in another guitar for over a year and still really like it, thus the reason I purchased another. For a great no too over the top pickup that seems to work in many different applications, this can't be beat.Dave

So, I recently bought a 2020 Epiphone Les Paul Custom Silverburst for a backup guitar. My number 1 being a 2019 Gibson Les Paul Traditional. The Epi is a beautiful, great playing (after a good setup) guitar. But the Epi Probuckers kinda suck. Enter these Seymour Duncans. I can't believe that I just discovered them. They transformed this beautiful mud-machine into a pro level instrument. (Along with a new nut and bridge) But the tone possibilities are endless. Clean, warm jazz. Bighty blues, serious distortion/ metal/crunch. They're really affordable, easy to install and will transform any B-grade guitar into a serious player. Buy them, you'll see….Gary N

I bought a DBZ (Dean B Zelinksy) now Diamond guitars model Royale FM in Tobacco. Excellent Korean made guitar but the pickups never meshed with me. I wanted it to sound more Les Paul-ish. The pickups that came with it are well made by G&B but seemed more geared for metal. Triple ceramic bridge and alnico neck. These pickups give this great guitar Body and Neck a more traditional sound. I love them both, in humbucker and even split coil. The thin large body on this guitar has resonance for days due to its unique shape despite being light. I took a chance and love this guitar. The neck and hardware is great too. The JB and Jazz set are Seymour Duncan favorite combination so what more is there to say? I still wonder about the 59 in the neck instead but I love the SH-2 Jazz so I am not disappointed. Its not super flashy and wont really capture any attention on stage but it does its job. Its a solid guitar, way better built than other guitars in its price range. Solid construction, great overall build quality, amazing tone and awesome pickups for the price range. Great 7 string to get your foot in the door if you are usually a 6 string player and if it doesnt work out for you you are not out alot of money and has decent resale value. I am going to get more comfortable with this guitar before buying a more expensive 7 string and use this as my backup 7 string while gigging. No regrets here or complaints. Overall: Man, I can’t believe this guitar was less than 400 bucks. This is my First 7 string. I got it as an experiment just to see if a 7 string had any appeal. Well it did. It does.I did have to do a little work on the nut. The neck had a hard D profile that was irritating, so I shaved the shoulders and reshaped the neck. Fits like a glove now. I don’t know what people expect in this price range, but this guitar was bang for the buck rich.I found the stock humbuckers to be adequate. Tone and volume controls worked. No static in the five way switch. The pickups sound tight enough on the bottom.You won’t get any more 7 string bang for the buck until you spend twice as much.Scott

Sound: The sound quality is pretty good believe it or not with the stock pickups, definitely have enough distortion to get pinch harmonics anywhere that I can on my Seymour Duncan JB equipped Schecter C-1. Although, the 7th string (B) or in my case G# can be a little muddy but this is why I also picked up a Dimarzio Crunch Lab and Liquifire to replace the stock pickups. But for now, it does fit my musical style pretty well which is mostly groove/progressive metal (or the cliche Djent term). It sounds great with other low gain music as well too, the 5 way selector which offers single coil mode is pretty useful. Clean sounds are pretty good . Keep in mind I'm only running through a Line 6 Spider II. Tips for making it sound better, would be include some dimarzios, or duncans as stock pickups which I know would increase the price but most of us are going to replace them anyways. Features: The most useful feature I would say is the 5 way switch, giving a variety of sounds. This is a pretty basic set up, so I wouldn't say there is anything useless at all. It has 7 inline tuners which I feel are more stable than the grovers on my schecter, they are nice and tight. It has a 25.5" bolt on (vs. my set through Schecter) maple neck with rosewood fingerboard with a more D shape to the neck, but also pretty thin compared to my schecter (a beefier U/C shape neck). The transition is actually quite comfortable coming from my 6 string. A flattop basswood body with 2 humbuckers, a 5 way switch, and volume (which I find gets in the way when trying to sweep pick, but I'll just have to adjust my playing style) and tone knobs. It also has a gotoh hardtail bridge. Ease of Use: It's very easy to get clean sounds out of this guitar, the distortion is pretty good as well, again a little bit of mud on the 7th string when tuned lower. It's easy to use with my amp, it's plug and play. Learning curve, is actually little to none it was an easy transition. It's very playable, the neck is fast and the bridge is comfortable. The body also has a nice belly cut and relief for your forearm. Quality: This product is assembled in Indonesia, my Schecter was in Korea. With that being said, I do think the Schecter's fit and finish is better but not too far ahead of the Ibanez. But, you get what you pay for with a $400.00 guitar. I bought this knowing it was not going to be a premium or prestige model. I haven't had it long, so I can't relaly comment on it's reliability. But from what I have seen so far, it feels very ruggedly made and everything feels nice and solid. Value: I think this product is 100% worth it's asking price. It's a solid guitar, the stock tone is great under clean/slightly overdrive tones, and acceptable under high gain. Again, to have it come stock with better pickups would increase the cost further. So for this price, it is very much worth it. Playability is great, loving the Ibanez Wizard neck. Manufacturer Support: I have not dealt with Ibanez before, but I have dealt with zZounds before. They are easy to get ahold of and very friendly. I have not yet had any problems with zZounds and very much enjoy the play as you pay plan. The Wow Factor: I find this guitar very appealing, especially with the white finish. What makes it even more appealing is the price and the stock features it comes with. I could have bought a baritone 6, but I've wanted a 7 for awhile. It just offers more tonal and range opportunities. Overall: In short, great guitar for the $. Stock pickups leave a little to be desired when down tuning. Playability is excellent. Quality is definitely acceptable, but not above and beyond.Kory

I used to use ernie balls religiously, but decided to switch to d'addarios to try them out, and have never looked back. They last a long time, much longer than earnies and they aren't too much more expensive. They have a nice mellow tone which is never dull. Just live them.evilash465

So I'm not experienced with strings on guitar yet and there's not much choices out there for seven sting guitars out there either. I love these gauges for tuning my 7 string half a step down. The tension is just right. Like most normal strings these do get dull after a while but you can get a bit more life out of them by wiping down with a rag sprayed with WD40.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

these auto trim your strings. they then allow your strings to fall out of tune every 6 seconds. worst product i have ever purchased for music. completely ruined my sg. will be putting factory machine heads back on and shooting at these with my shotgun.gib

Worked awesome for around 2 years and then literally fell apart one by one. I wasn't over tightening, or anything. Irreparable, the locking mechanism got loose and very quickly fell out of it along with gears. Not a happy camper, but I guess that's what you get with cheaper tuners. Other than that, easy install of course, stayed in tune pretty well, and worked as you would like them, minus the eventual implosion. 🤷‍♂Joseph

As described on the package, these are primarily jazz guitar strings. I play a Benedetto Manhattan Custom 7 that was originally strung with round-wound 12-72 strings. After going through a few sets, I was looking for a slightly lighter feel and mellower sound. The typical 7-string sets with unwound third strings and lowest strings in the 50s felt like rubber bands and did not produce the sound I wanted. D'Addario chrome flat wound strings have the sound I want while allowing a relatively low action without buzzing. The strings start out mellow and hold their tone throughout most of their life. They will eventually sound dull (not necessarily a bad thing – listen to Tal Farlow). When intonation begins to suffer, it's time to replace them. I do not recall breaking a string. The majority of my playing is finger-style in the George Van Eps tradition and these strings are great for that application as well as comping and single-string work. They sound great purely acoustically as well as amplified. If bending notes is a major feature of your style, you probably will not be happy with these strings. If you are fortunate enough to own a seven-string jazz guitar and want a classic jazz sound, these strings will suit your instrument and style of playing quite well. They are practically the only game in town unless you prefer piecing together sets from individual strings.Mike H

These strings have proven to be the best on the market. Flatwounds are the most under-rated string ever, and D'addario chromes are the best of the best. They are very warm, very mellow, so if you play extreme metal like I do, you will have to tweak your pre-eq tone a bit to get the same "bright" sound from roundwound strings, but this is easily achieved with a treble booster or a pre eq with some of the bass turned down a little and some mids and highs turnd up a little. Once you've done that, these strings are RAZOR SHARP and virtually all string chirp is eliminated. They're "tighter" feeling than rounds so they stay put when you're tremolo picking. If you want to do artificial harmonics, they work well on these strings, but you have to be precise. Also, pick slides work well, but they're a bit "softer" sounding than on rounds… The few adjustments you have to make in your tone to compensate is a very small price to pay for a string that lasts forever, cleans up your sound, and eliminates string chirp… I recommend these to every guitar player I know.Manos

I bought these seven strings for a six string guitar 'cause they were the only ones I could find flat wound and not for a bass. I was concerned that the tone would be flat too, but it's not they sound warm and mellow, perfect for jazz and classic rock and blues. I can finally make the slides in "Blackbird" sound right. I put them on my new semi-hollow body Hagstrom guitar that has this amazing fret board made out of a man made wood composite that is practically friction free. After setting the action to my liking I installed these strings and have the fastest neck you can imagine. I'm so happy with the strings I ordered three more sets.opalguy
